PeeWee - if it makes you feel any better no one was going to throw me a shower so I called my mom and told her that her and my grandma can do one the weekend of thanksgiving....okay well I told them they are doing one, my mom just wont do anything because shes so afraid if shes tries nothing will be good enough, at this point I told her I dont care, but told her its her job!! Is that wrong of me ? I dont have time to wait around for anyone else.
DollfaceCongrats,
everyday someone else comes in here with their gender makes me so ansy to get mine, I'm going to see if I can talk the doc into it next week but probably not since I'm only 17 weeks and he will probably wait until 20 :(.
Lady Your not alone, everyone warned me just to expect that the first time, so many of my friends at work that have been through pregnancies told me thats generally how it goes the first time, I'm sure it will be just my luck since I'm being so impatient.
Tandis Oh I completely understand, we went to a boutique because they had the crib I wanted cheaper but the man wouldnt go for it, well understably, it was 892.00....but it was the ONLY crib I could find that I LOVED everything about it. So I just sucked it up and realized I wasnt getting it and decided I better find something about another crib, it took forever but I finally found one and ordered our set. I thought that would be the easiest part but it wasnt!!
Me, I'm really popping I think

Anyone want to make any guesses, i'm open for it!! Just something to add a little fun!!

Nanner: Congrats on confirming your girl!
Dollface: I am glad you are happy with your precious little boy. I thought for sure I would be disappointed if my second was a boy...but I just was so excited when I saw him! I love my boys.
Tandis: I like your crib choice!!!! :)
Lady1297: Sounds like Baby wants to be on "Team Green" :)
Whitlockan: How you are carrying won't help you find out the gender, but you have an awfully cute belly! I am jealous. I'll guess "boy", only because you look like you carry like me, and I've had 2 boys so far. I am wrong a LOT though ;)

whitlocan ~ Not at all... that's what moms are there for.. :)
I am just eating the last Trader Joes French onion soup from my freezer... and it is SOOOO good... I know I'm gonna want another, but the closest tj's is over an hour away... anyone know an easy way to make it yourself, or any place else that has them frozen that are any good?

Warning, this is really, really long. Sorry this post is all about me but I'm at work now and I just need to get this out.
Well, I got some messed up news at my appointment this morning. Nothing terrible, baby's heartbeat sounded good, I'm not having any complications that I know of but the birth center where I go is closing. Shit. I think I'll have next month's appt. with them then that's it. I have to find someone else. While I didn't love this place, I chose it after a lot of research. It's close to work and not too far from home, it's nationally accredited (the only one in the area that is), and it's run by 2 certified nurse midwives. I thought it would be a good middle between a homebirth and a hospital birth, not too crunchy but not too medicalized. Now I don't know what to do. There are two other birth centers in the area. One is run by a midwife trained in Britain and supposedly her training is really comprehensive and my current midwife likes her but she's all the way across town. I really would prefer somewhere closer to work and home. And from what I've read, her practice focuses on low-income and minority women, which I am neither. I don't know if that should make I difference, I don't think so, but I'm not sure. The other is run by a licensed midwife and that center is pretty close to me. Although if I go with a licensed midwife, I really don't see the difference between going to a birth center and having a home birth. I know of a few midwives in the area that do home births.
If I had maternity insurance, it wouldn't be as big of a deal but since I work part-time and DH is self-employed, we can only get individual insurance and the maternity coverage they offered was terrible so I have to pay for this pregnancy out of pocket. I've already paid half of my fee to the birthing center. I hope they will refund some of that since I would imagine the birth is the most expensive part and right now they would be charging me like $2500 for four appointments, only one of which included an exam. What sucks too is that a lot of places charge a flat fee for pregnancy and birth no matter how far along you are, so I will probably have to pay the entire fee even though I will be starting with the new practice at 26 or so weeks.
I only know one person who has had a non-hospital birth and she lives out of state now. I don't know anyone who I can ask about this.

littlemia - There is a thread in the Pregnancy section about homebirths & birthing centers. Perhaps some of the ladies in that thread will be able to give you ideas/comfort.
Dangit I hit Send on accident. Hate that!
Tandis - That looks like a great crib!
Mochi - You are looking great! I think I forgot to add your belly shot; i'll catch it here in a minute.
The siders are starting on putting the new siding on our house today... hopefully that will make me feel a little better about the state of things. The baby made me buy some "Beer battered cod" at cash-n-carry today. Oopsies!
Oooh... and I dreamed that I had Triplets last night. No kidding. Two identical twin girls, and there was a boy in there too. So bizzare!!
We cut a whole bunch more Baby Names a few nights ago. I've figured out middle names for the girls we have left... and of course now I've decided that I don't like ANY of the boys names!! I so hope this baby is a girl... but I have a sneaking suspicion that I feel like it's a girl but actually it's a boy, and I'm going to have to come up with a freaking boy's name. Dangit. I find boys' names to be soooo much harder than girls' names!! Argh. They're either too popular, too trendy, or too weird.

Question to all you ROs I am thinking about this my brother's wedding is 1 1/2 months after the baby is born and its a 12 hour drive home, I know flying is not even an option with an infant that small, am I crazy if we try ot make this drive with that small of a child? I mean heck would you even recommend taking a baby around that many people about 100+ that young?

Shimmerstar....I have had a constant cold since like the 2nd month of pregnancy. :( This is what I found. Actually, my mother sent this website information to me. It is interesting, but not that encouraging for being able to breathe easy any time soon. :( Sorry.
http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/prenatalhealth/1076.html
Hope you are all well. I have been terribly busy with work and unable to post, but I have been reading along. Hope to talk to you all soon. I have an appt. on October 23 for h/b/checkup and then my big 20 week u/s on November 9th. Yay, can't wait for that one.

Hi ladies - been really busy at work lately but have been following along. Thanks for letting me know I'm still welcome here even though I won't be a March mom.
We have our big u/s tomorrow morning. In addition to seeing all the regular stuff, they will look at the cords in detail. I'm hoping they aren't too twisted yet.
Whitlock - why is 1 1/2 months too early to travel on a plane? As far as long car rides, we haven't taken our dd on anything that long yet, but I would do it. Just try to plan to drive through the night so the baby is sleeping most of the time and be prepared to make several stops along the way for feedings/changing etc. A lot of it will depend on your baby and how well they tolerate the car seat. You won't know that until they are here, but hopefully it will be a non issue.
Shimmerstar - unfortunately I was stuffed up most of my first pregnancy. I've been stuffy on and off with the twins. I think it is pretty common to have a stuffy nose during pregnancy. I also had carpel tunnel that came around 6 months and lasted through the pg too.
Dreams - I had a dream about the twins two nights ago. I delivered via c-section at 30 weeks and they weighed 4.6 and 4.3 lbs. Their names were Samuel and Matthew. Very funny because those names are not on our list. Also, I doubt a baby born at 30 weeks would weigh more than 4lbs, but it was a nice dream to know they both made it.
Ok, off to my 2.5 hour drive home tonight.

whitlockan ~ hmm, I'm going to say girl but I'm so bad at these things! You look great! As for your question I have traveled a lot by car and plane and for a 1 1/2 month old I vote plane. If you can break up the drive in 2 days it might not be so bad. My first daughter HATED her carseat for the first 3 months so I didn't even attempt anything longer than 30 minutes. My second didn't mind the carseat and we drove 1000 miles when she was 2 months old. It was hard. You have to stop a lot and really 6 hours was her limit for the day. My SIL came to visit when her baby was 2 months old (they drove 1000 miles too) and drove overnight thinking the baby would mostly sleep. Ha. She screamed the whole way, they were all so tired when they got here. Babies that young just like to be held so I think plane rides are much, much easier.
littlemia ~ sorry your birth center closed down! I sort of know how you feel, the only midwife in my town who delivered Riley quit so I was at a total loss of what to do when I got pregnant with this baby. Luckily I found an OB who also does homebirths so she's sort of crunchy without being too crunchy, which I like for me. Personally I think as long as you like who is delivering you it doesn't matter where you deliver. I gave birth in a hospital but my midwife was so relaxed it didn't really feel like a hospital. I hope you find another place you like!
Brink ~ good luck tomorrow! I hope everything goes well at your u/s.

Whitlockan - My cousin drove about that far to be my Maid of Honor with a ten day old baby. They did split the drive into 2 days. And the pro-pictures my photographer got of her newborn in his little newborn tux are absolutely priceless. Here's one:

Whitlockan - My guess is girl too just because you look a lot like I did with my dd. And I would go by plane than by car if it's at all possible. I wouldn't do a red-eye as a baby that young probably won't sleep much better at night than during the day anyways. Plus you'll be tired as it is just being a mom without having to travel. There's lots of threads in parenting on traveling with infants that can give you ideas on ways to make it easier.
littlemia - I'm so sorry about your bc:( I considered a birth center this time around but we only have one in the area and I really didn't like the main mw there at.all and we ended up not being able to afford it anyways so we never looked into other midwives. I'm just going to right out a specific birth plan and bold the most non-traditional parts to hopefully avoid any auto-pilotness by the nurses and not let the baby out of me or dh's sight. We're delivering at the same hospital this time and didn't have any problem with dd's birth so I'm hoping things will be the same this time.
Their names were Samuel and Matthew.
Isn't this the names of hte twins on 7th Heaven?
Congrats on the BOY Dollface!!
Tandis - Nope I don't think it's too early at all to order cribs, and I really like your choice. If we end up needing a crib I might just have to go with that one.
Janey - Awwwwww! I didn't even know they made newborn tuxes, but he's sooo adorable!
Names - We came up with a few boys names (Chase, Donovan, and Dominic) but I've now decided I don't like any of them:rolleyes: For girls though I like Kaiya or Kaila and I don't think I'll change my mind on that one. Once we picked out dd's name I just knew it was the right one even though a lot of people tried to talk me out of it (along with giving me a list of suggestions that were totally not our style:rolleyes: ) and tell me I'll change my mind. Now I just need to get dh on board. He likes it for now, I'm just afraid he'll find something he likes better.
Well, not much new going on here. Dd's 1st birthday is the weekend after this one, so dd is going to Grandma's this weekend so we can get the house cleaned. We've kinda let the house slide since I became pg so we're going to shampoo carpets, swap out seasonal clothes, bake the cake, do some shopping for dd's party, etc. Gosh, I'm tired just thinking about it, but it really needs to be done. Once I get a 100% clean house hopefully it'll be easier for me to keep on top of it. I need to stick to fly lady's 15 minute morning and evening routine and quit procrastinating.

Whitlockan - Hmmmmm...maybe take a plane? I think a car drive would be too much. I am not sure, but I think young infants can fly!:)
littlemia - That stinks about your birth center. I hope you find a suitable replacement you feel comfortable with. Some hospitals have birth center like environments with water birthing tubs. Have you talked to your midwife about whetehr or not any of the hospitals near you offer this?
Janey - I always found girls names to be easier. But luckily we found some boys names we like, because we have two! :)
Kanga: You and I seem to have agreed on the same girls name! :) Except we picked to spell it Kaia. I am usually very hush about the names, but I couldn't believe it when I read your post, I had to share!!! Okay, no one else is allowed to use it but me and Kanga :D Good luck with the birthday party! Caden got jipped this year....I was so sick I didn't do a party. :( We did celebrate up the mountains with lots of cake and ice cream and presents. He seemed to know no different.

Dang this thread moves fast! I need to catch up but whitlockan just wanted to let you know, I live in S. America but had my DS in Los Angeles and will do the same thing w/ this baby. He and I flew back when he was 6 weeks old and let me tell you that is a loooonng flight (15 hours or so, I think?)...and he did fine. I nursed him on takeoff and landing to help the pressure in his ears but, honestly, it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Oh, except I couldn't figure out for the longest time why he started screaming when I tried to nurse him for takeoff on our 1st flight...turns out his leg was getting pinched in my seat belt buckle. :( Anyways, I would definitely go for the flight over the car ride. Even if you only have to deal w/ a screaming baby for a few hours, it's stressful! On a flight, you can take the baby out of his carseat, walk around, etc. Can't exactly do that in a car.
As far as baby being around a lot of people, you should be OK at that age. Not that I would necessarily recommend this, but DS had been to 4 (outdoor) concerts by the time he was a month old :o and we had no problems.
Janey that pic is priceless! Where does one find a tux for a newborn?? I had no idea such a thing existed!
happy1nuv
10-12-2006, 09:27 AM
whitlocan ~ I agree with the others... a flight sounds better to me than driving... and, I'd buy/make a sling/baby carrier that coordinates with your outfit... that will definitely minimize those that get all up in dc's face/germs etc. (I went to a work outing with Nic when he was 2 months old, and everyone wanted to see him, but no one got too close... and, he slept the entire time... it was great! My cousin is getting married when this child will be 3 months old, and thats what I intend to do...
littlemia ~ That sux about the bc...I hope you do get some of your money back (but am guessing that depends why the center is closing)... Maybe check out the boards at mothering.com ... they talk a LOT about home births, birthing centers, etc... :)
Janey ~ That is an adorable pic!! :)

Wow, I went away for 5 days and I missed A LOT!
I am SO impressed with those of you who are painting murals. That is just amazing to me!
Congrats on the boy, Dollface!!
Janey- I hear you on the construction. We've lived in our house for 3 years and it's pretty much been under construction the whole time! It's so frustrating. We're about to start our final room- the kitchen- this weekend. It "should" be done in about 3 weeks, but we'll see:rolleyes:
For whoever asked about an onion soup recipe, here's the one that DH and I use:
slice 2 large white onions
saute in a couple T of butter until they start to get soft
toss in about 1T of flour, cook for ~1 min
add in 2 cans of beef broth, simmer for ~20 min
put soup in oven-safe bowl, drop in a couple of slices of baguette, top with shredded gruyere cheese, broil until cheese is bubbly and browned
That makes about 6-8 bowls of soup.
For whoever asked about allergy medications: I just consulted my doctor's list of approved medications and here's what they say for colds/coughs (I don't have allergies, but I'm guessing that these would work for that too)
Vicks Vapor Rub
Ocean nasal spray
Robitussin or Robitussin DM
Sudafed
Benadryl
Claritin or Claritin D

Anyway, back to me:p We just got back late last night from Mont Tremblant in Quebec. We spent 5 days just basically hanging out with my parents and sister and her boyfriend. While we were there, I had my first belly rub by a stranger. It wasn't that bad though- I thought it would drive me batty. Apparently, they don't have the expression "eating for 2" in french, and I was wearing a shirt that said "shopping for two" and all the store workers kept asking me what it meant or they assumed it meant that women love to shop so much that it's like we're shopping enough for 2 people. So, one woman figured out that I'm pregnant (um, hello- I have a belly!) and immediately ran over to rub my belly for "good luck" It was more funny than annoying though.
I bought my first girl baby clothes too! I got a footy pajama with pink and white stripes with Mont Tremblant written on it (baby's first souvenir!), a pink velour track suit thing from Ralph Lauren, and this adorable orange jacket with flowers printed all over it from April Cornell. We thought it would be perfect for picking out her first pumpkin and her first time going apple picking next fall. I know, it's silly to buy stuff like that so early, but it was so cute! Of course the joke was on us when we got home and realized that the jacket is dry clean only:p Dry clean baby clothes- how ridiculous! Oh well:D

Thanks for listening to my vent/freak out. You would think they would wait until everyone had their babies which is only like 6 months or so from now. I can't imagine what those women who are due in December are going through. I think the closing was pretty sudden. It's kind of strange. They've been there forever and are really busy so I have no idea why they're closing all of the sudden. I'm just so frustrated because my options are so limited. There's no way we can afford a hospital birth; my insurance only pays for pregnancy in the case of complications. I've searched the archives of Mothering.com and all of my options have been recommended at least once. I think I'll post my own question to see if they can help with who would be the best fit.
lady1297- sorry the babe was uncooperative.
Brink- I hope your u/s goes well today. I'll be thinking about you.
Whitlockan- Wow, that's quite a change in two weeks. Very cute belly.
Tandis

Betsy - Why would they make dry clean only baby clothes? How does that even make any sense? Yay for buying your first outfits :D Glad you had a good time on your vacation!
Cribs - Thanks for all the positive comments on our crib choice - and for letting me know that it's not too early. I have a bad habit of getting really paranoid once I pick something out, that it's going to be discontinued before I can buy it. So I tend to buy stuff when I decide, even if it is a few months earlier than I would have liked. Heck, I had my wedding dress two years before my wedding!
Names - We picked out our first set of boy's names really easily (especially when it's our Dads middle names!), and the first set of girl's names weren't too bad, but now we're stuck when it comes to the second set. I think we're both hoping for a boy and girl so we'll be done. ;)
Janey - That picture is just too cute :D
Littlemia - Can't help you out much, but that really sucks that your place is closing. Hope you're able to get at least part of your money refunded.
Brink - Good luck with your u/s! I think it's possible for our babies to be at least *near* four pounds by 30 weeks. Don't remember what Dr. Luke says, but if it's possible they could be over seven at 37 weeks, then I think it's possible for four at 30. :) What a nice dream though.
Happy1nuv - Mmm, Onion Soup... I usually make my own, which is pretty good. Super easy too because it's just essentially carmelized onions and beef broth.
Whitlock - You've definitely popped - and with the cutest belly too :D I'm tempted to say a boy, just because everyone else is saying girl ;) - but also, I think it looks like you're carrying low.
Lady - Wow, they wouldn't let you see that screen? Why? Sorry the baby wasn't cooperating. Do you have another u/s scheduled?

betsy ~ Thanks for the soup recipe and the allergy meds. I made french onion soup once and it took FOREVER, so I vowed never to make it again, but your recipe sounds easy enough. Guess what we're eating for dinner tonight? Haha...(must go to store for onions...)
And, yeah... watch out for the dry clean only thing... especially when you see those cute outfits for the holidays. Nic has 3 dry clean only outfits (you'd think once I bought the first one I would look for that)... Luckily, I have one of those side loading washing machines with an ultra hand wash cycle .. I just throw them in there on that, and they do just fine.. (I REFUSE to send baby clothes to the dry cleaners... I didn't even send Nic's baptism outfit to the dry cleaners)

Wow, I feel so far behind. I will do my best not to miss anyone!
Brink ~ I have been thinking good thoughts for you all day!! My friends little boy was born at 27 weeks and he was a little over 3lbs so it "could" be possible. He was in the nicu for a while, but he is home and healthy now.
Littlemia ~ I am so sorry about your bc closing. I don't know if it is different by state, but being self employed I just got my own group plan. Here you can only start in Oct & April, but if it is different where you are it could be an option. I pay more a month, but will only have out of pocket expenses of $250.
betsyboop ~ who makes dry clean baby clothes??? Oh well, its sounds so cute it is totally worth it!
Whitlocken ~ you have definately popped and have an adorable belly!! I am putting my vote in for a boy ~ you look low and all out front.
Tandis ~ I love the cribs and am envious you already made a decision. We just started looking at cribs (very briefly) last night. No idea what we want or should be looking for!
Janey ~ that picture is priceless!! We always have some sort of project in the works at our house too, so I totally understand what you are feeling. The siding will help a lot though because it is such an instant and major change it feels great when you see it done!
Names ~ we always thought girls names were easy, but we have had a solid short list of boys names for weeks and no girls names on the short list yet!
Me ~ I had a nephew on Tuesday!!! His name is Owen Anthony and he weighs 7lbs 13oz. This is my sisters 4th and BIL 5th, and the one and only boy!!! They didn't know what they were having, so my BIL is thrilled!!! My sister now has 4 under 5 ~ God love her!!!
My AFP test came back negative, so I am feeling much better about tomorrows u/s. Now the only concern would be the PE and that really would not be a big deal at all! We are excited now, and are only really worried that we might accidentally find out the sex. Hopefully not though!
Oh, and now I am really craving some French Onion Soup!!! Speaking of, anyone else find that they are hungrier these days?? I don't know if it is the baby, or just that I am not as busy at work during the day so I am hungry more because I have more time to think about it....

Ugh, just hit something on my computer and deleted my post - frustrating!
Back from our u/s. Everything went really great. The twins are measuring the same size (6 oz each) and they are measuring close to the right time. They are 17wk o days and I am actually 17wks 3 days, so not too far off. And the big shocker - they are girls! The doc was wrong the first time, so I guess you can switch me to Team Pink!
Littlemia - I had heard that you can get a pregnancy policy through Afflac that pays you when you deliver. Sounds weird to me that you can sign up for it after you know your pregnant, but I guess that is how they offer it in some states. Might be worth looking at.
MrsKinnison - Congrats on the nephew - sounds like a very healthy little boy. Another congrats on the AFP results.
Well, better get back to work.
Tandis
10-12-2006, 02:13 PM
Brink - Hee, so I guess it really will be a surprise when you deliver since you can't really be sure which u/s was correct ;) They just want to keep you guessing. Glad you had a good u/s and yay for measuring on target!
MrsKinnison - Congrats on your nephew and the good AFP results! :D As for being hungry, I'm not really a good judge of this, but I'm hungry all the time! In fact I just had a bowl of mashed potatoes for my mid-afternoon snack, which should keep me going until about 5 pm ;) Good luck with your u/s tomorrow!

Hungry - I was ravenous in the first tri, and now I'm just always hungry.
Brink - Yay for team pink! I wonder what your next u/s will say?
Mommy in Pa - Well, we're still undecided on the spelling of Kaia/Kaiya. I'm making way to much of a big deal out of this, but I like the first spelling better, but the second seems like it would be easier to pronounce it right. I haven't asked dh yet. Men just don't seem to have the patientce/tolerance for a million of those types of questions. They obviously just don't know what they're missing:p
Whitlockan - I forgot to put in my last post that my cousin lives in Uzbekistan and it's about 30 hours total of flying (we live in the midwest, you can't ever get anywhere from here easily). She came back to the U.S. to have her baby and as soon as the baby got her passport, visa, and birth certificate (about 3 weeks old) they were headed back since her husband was there. She said it went well and didn't give many details about traveling, so I assume it all went well.
Last week it was spaghetti o's and now today I want french onion soup. You ladies are a horrible influence:p

I hear you. Some girls on another message board had me wanting gummy bears and tomato basil soup this week. Hello, gummy bears? I NEVER eat gummy bears. The soup, on the other hand...
Congrats on all of the new boys and girls! So exciting!
We're still struggling with a girl name. There are a few I like, but DH doesn't like any of them. It's so hard.
Oh, update on my sister--no triplets. But she's got TWINS in there!

Another spotting scare this morning. Today it was pink and red :( My OB had me come right in and her he found the heartbeat right away and it was good. They are getting me in for an ultrasound next week to "check on things". (It is not my BIg U/S...from what I understand, though I will be 18 weeks on Monday...who knows?!)
Mrs. Kinnison: Congrats on your nephew. I LOVE love love the name Owen!
Brink: Congrats on your girls! Geez, they are really keeping you guessing, huh?! Next ultrasound should put your mind to rest :)
Littlemia: I have AFLAC, but I know in PA, you are only covered if your policy goes into effect 10 months before deilvery. True story: I signed up for AFLAC in Oct 04'. My policy became effective November 1, 04' Got pregnant right after Turkey Day in 04' and delivered August 14. I delivered 16DAYS TOO EARLY to get ANYTHING. I WAS FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kanga: I have never seen to spelling Kaiya (though I like it!)...... I have seen Kaya and Kya....also Caia and Chaya! When I first saw it spelled Kaia...I fell in love. If I have another boy, I am getting a girl dog and naming it Kaia. I just MUST use it! :)
Nanner: Congrats on your sisters twins! I would love twins, but this being my third, I am thanking my stars its a singleton.

MommyinPA: So sorry about your spotting! I'm sure it is nothing, so try not to stress too much, although I know that's difficult to do because I did it as well. Just take it easy for a while. :)

Thanks Tosha :) I am still spotting (I know....TMI) Its very light and light pink, but it is still stressful!! I had two spotting free pregnancies, and this time around it has happened again, and again, and again. It has worried me to the point of not telling my co-workers, or the kids (my son and stepdaughter) I am pregnant until we get the ultrasound. I am trying not to let it get me down....I have a fun weekend ahead. Thanks for the support, and understanding. I hope you have a spot-free rest of your pregnancy! :)

Just got back from the u/s. The baby looked great! They said they didn’t see any chest deformity, but there is a chance that could develop later. Honestly, I am not in the least bit worried about it! Both the u/s tech and the Dr spent time doing the u/s so we really spent a lot of time seeing each and every bit of the baby. Unfortunately, we only got 2 pictures because the baby was extremely active. The tech and the Dr kept laughing because every time they would try to get a look, the baby would move ~ so they were chasing the baby all over. On the flip side, moving so much made it easy to see everything, just not long enough to get the picture! I'm sure that they know they sex because the baby was not shy at all, but it is still a surprise for us!

Wow, Kanga, have you ever visited your cousin in Uzbekistan? That sounds like it would make for a very interesting/exotic trip!
MommyinPA- I'm sorry to hear that you're spotting. Maybe that means that this one is a girl though, since you didn't have spotting in your other pregnancies:)
Brink- That's so carzy that they're telling you the babies are girls now! Do you think they're sure this time or are you going to come up with 2 boys names just in case? ;)
happy1nuv- Oh, I guess we usually make the onion soup as a side with a sandwhich or as an appetizer for a nice meal in, so we probably have a smaller serving than a whole dinner-sized serving like it sounds like you had. I guess I should have mentioned that:o
I bought a baby name book yesterday and DH and I have started going through it. This is going to be such a hard decision! So far, I like:
Alice
Amelia
Audrey
Charlotte
Claire
Edie
Freda (family name)
Kate
Maggie
Natalie
Nora
Ruby
Sadie
See, that's a lot of names and I haven't really even gone through the book that thoroughly yet. Eek!

Mrs. Kinnison: Awwwwwwwwwww, look at baby! Yay for a great U/S!
Betsyboop: Cute names :) My friend named her daughter Charlotte. Shes such a cutie! My boss said the same thing....she said, this baby is causing you so much grief, it must be a girl! I am sure a third boy could certainly want to cause me grief too though :)

Hungry ~ I'm always hungry! I'm trying so hard not to snack this afternoon so I'm nice and starving when we go out for dinner tonight. Except we're going out with people I've never met and I'm not sure I want them to see how much I can actually eat in one sitting. :)
Brink ~ Congrats on the girls! How funny! I'm glad the u/s went well.
MommyinPA ~ I'm sorry you're spotting. I'm sure it's nothing but still, stop already!
MrsKinnison ~ congrats on the good ultrasound!!
Names ~ Ugh. I've looked at a few and the only ones that grabbed me a little were Claire, Maggie and Reece, except I think of that as a boy's name. But heck both our girls have names that could be boy names so why not keep up the tradition? ;) My husband usually vetoes anything I like anyway. It was so hard to name our second daughter and this time I think it's going to be even worse.
I woke up at 2:30 last night when our daughter climbed into bed with us and couldn't fall back to sleep so I just sat there feeling the baby move. It's the most I've ever felt her! She's not too active during the day. Ack, hope this doesn't mean she's going to have her days and nights confused!
My 3 year old's preschool is on fall break next week so I'm taking the girls on a road trip! It'll be a 12 hour trip one way but I'm breaking it up so it shouldn't be too bad. Poor hubby has to stay here and work but at least I'm leaving the dog to keep him company. :) I'm so sick of living in a rental house I need to get out of here. I just want our house to be built already!!

Brink ~ Congratulations on the girls!!! Are they pretty certain this time, or could you possibly switch teams again?
MommyinPA ~ How are you doing today? I am keeping faith that it is just some random pg thing that means nothing!!!!
Buffy ~ one of my nieces names is Reece, and she is an absolute doll!!!
betsyboop ~ Charlotte is on our long list too, but I really love it! I also love Alice, but Chris wont go for it no matter how I try to slip it in. We love Amelia too, but unfortunately we know one so we can't use it ~ one of the draw backs to being at end of the line as far as having kids goes. We've actually come up with a few names then realized we have a friend who used it already.
Some other names ~ I'm not going to say which ones for fear it may deter you from using them, but I've read some names I have used for my animals and really love them too!! You have to keep in mind that we are those people that spend an endless amount of time choosing just the right name for our animals, and they are all names we truly love. I good friend recently told me before I got pg (she didn't even know we were trying) that she thought we would have a hard time naming our child because we had already used so many great names!!
lady1297
10-14-2006, 09:44 AM
Names-It's funny to read Mrs. K's post about animal names. We got our dog back in Aug 2003, named her Sophie and within 6 months had a friend and a SIL name their daughter's Sophia! We thought about changing the dogs name, but realized, hey, we named the dog first! Maybe it's mean, but I have no issue with reusing names of friend's or families kids. Like our boy name, John is my friend's son's name as well as my SIL's youngest's name. But it honors my dad and godfather, so I don't really care much. I know, heartless. But it wouldn't phase me either if someone used my current son's name, so maybe that's why I'm heartless! Obviously I like the name or I wouldn't have used it!
Weird question, but is anyone else having issues with keeping their underpants up?? I can't believe I'm asking this. But my regular undies dont' stay up and the maternity ones I bought don't either. So what do I do? About half way through the day, I find myself tugging them up about every hour. Thank Goodness I stay home or I'd be mortified. I've thought about just not wearing any, but the extra pregnancy side effects I've been having are discharge and I've had a bit of inconteniece since my son (not often, but like if I have to sneeze and have a full bladder kind of thing-normal from a vaginal birth according to my doctor), so I need the pantyliners. Any suggestions or company out there?

Hi Ladies!
Andrew was readmitted 2 weeks ago back in the hospital. The fluid wasn't getting any better so this past Thursday he had another surgery to tie off the ducts that were producing the fluid. Right now hes battling a collapsed lung. It seems my little boy can't get a break. We're hoping just a few more days and he'll be well enough to go home. Keep praying.
I had my fetal echo last monday and the baby's heart looks perfect!! I have my level II this coming thursday. Hopefully this little one will cooperate and we can find out the sex.
Just wanted to stop in. I'm hoping i'll be able to really re join the group soon when we're home!
See you soon!

Hi Ladies - I have not posted in a few months. I have a rule in my house that i am not allowed to read pregnancy support boards until I am out of the major worry times. The first time around, I was constantly worried about miscarrying because of what I read. Now I feel secure enough to jump back in if that is ok.
Updates Here
First, sign me up for Team Blue. We had our big ultrasound last Friday, two weeks early than normal. The baby is measuring the right size, to the day. Last time around our DD measured about 2 weeks small and ended up being 3 ounces heavier than the low birthweight cut off when she was born on my due date. Any how, we were able to see a penis in the u/s but no testicals. The u/s tech wants us to come back in about 4 weeks for another to make sure that everything is ok.
My morning sickness is finally abating. But sciatica is back with a venegance. Ugh. The stuffy nose also returns. To whomever asked, I read in a few books that your body make extra mucus when pg.
About flying, my sister adopted a child from out of state and fly with with her pretty quickly after birth (OH to CA). Another friend fly from TX to MD about 3 weeks after their DD was born. I am sure flying is ok. I would just make sure that you keep the baby covered and would get the child their own seat in order to stay restrained and covered.
Well, I think that is all for now.

Hi Ladies:
Haven't been around in a while because I am back at work now but DH and I have emerged from the stone ages and got a computer and internet this week-end so I will now be an active member of this thread!
So far, this pregnancy is going really well (knock on wood). I haven't had an morning sickness, or any complications which seems so strange to me because with DD I was so sick and had so many aches and pains. I have definitly started to show and I think that I am in the midst of a growth spurt because RLP is killing me right now. I go for the big u/s on Monday and DH and I are so excited to see the baby. We are on team yellow, so we won't be finding out the sex but I am just so excited to find out that everything is going well.
Names: We have a boys name from the last pregnancy that we are keeping until we have a boy and we are pretty sure that we have another girls name that we like. But we are keeping it a secret until the birth.
Kindermom: Congrats on Team Blue and welcome back to the thread.
Goldenbridge: You and your family are in my thoughts.
MommyinPA: I had spotting in my first pregnancy, and I had a healthy baby girl who is now 10 months old. With this pregnancy I am convinced that I am having a boy and no spotting at all!
Hope all are having a great week-end.

Hi ladies...been awhile since I posted. Not to much new around here. I'm still only feeling occasional flutter kicks and I'm wishing to get a good thump. I know it could still be awhile but I'm waiting. Hopefully by my US appt on the 25th when I'm 20 weeks I'll be feeling it good.
Names & Pets- Our good friends named their dog Jake which I wouldn't have minded using as a boys name but now all I picture is their yappy dog :( I'm still not sold on our boys name yet. But my girl name is solid in my mind....still gotta convince DH.
Nursery- Our friend who just bought a house picked up the queen bed that was our spare bed yesterday. It was perfect timing to have someone get it so we didn't have to haul it somewhere ourselves. Now I can start on cleaning the room!

Lady - I find myself wearing undies that are slightly tighter. Maybe it is because my shape has changed enough over the past pg and thisone. I hate wedgies and I find that my old ones are wedgie heaven. So I have taken to buying Hanes Comfort Waist undies for this pg. And so the ladies out here do not hink you are alone, I am back to wearing liners during cold season. Give me a unexpected big sneeze and there goes the sprinkle if I do not squeeze tightly.
Names - We are naming our little boy Henry. If it was a girl it was Zoe Elizabeth. We are still debating the middle name for Henry. We both liking Henry Porter. We have a really boring last name so we need something zippy.

kindermom- our son's middle name is Henry. I like the name a lot. Thanks for making me realize that I'm not alone!! Guess this may be incentive to do more Kegels this time around, maybe my bladder will behave this time! Andw welcome back! Sorry to hear aboutthe sciatica, though. :( I'm waiting for mine to kick in. It definitly does start aching on days that I don't stop and relax enough.
orion- welcome back!! I have definitly popped this past week. I was walking around the mall and noticed myself in the mirrors-WOW! It's great! I even went shopping for new maternity stuff and was so excited not to have to pin it on to get it to stay on.
goldenbridge-How awful for your son. I hope it clears up quickly and you are all back home enjoying the season soon. There has to be an end soon!

goldenbridge - sorryto hear about Andrew being back in the hospital. I will be keeping him in my thoughts.
kindermom - welcome to team blue!
Underwear issues...I have recently noticed mine are always slipping down. My butt hasn't grown any so going up a size would just make them fall more. I have no idea what to do!
Names...we have 2 boy names picked out so far. I want to have at least 3 to choose from so when he is born we have options. I don't think I could ever name him in utero - I have to see what he looks like first :)
Thumps and bumps... I started feeling faint flutters around 14 weeks and last weekend they became full on bumps and thumps. I love it!
Fetal echo scheduled for October 31st.

Goldenbridge - So sorry to hear about Andrew! Hope he's up and about soon and I'll keep him and your family in my prayers.
Underwear - Mine are all tight, which means I really should go out and buy a size or two up (or invest in maternity!), but I just bought these at about 4w along (what was I thinking?!), so I hate to spend the money. Comfort might end up winning out though ;)
Thumps - Just started really feeling the babies last Wednesday! :D It's cute because everytime now that I get in a vehicle with DH, Bert kicks. Keep telling DH that Bert is going to be his car buddy ;)
Names - We really need to get back on this. I don't think we've discussed names for about six weeks now.
***********************
So this u/s is about three weeks old, but I just managed to get my pics over to my MIL's house to get them scanned!
Bert's on top, sucking his hand, while Arnie's on the bottom, also sucking his hand.

Good Morning Ladies:
I have my big u/s today and I am so excited to see a heathly baby and put my worries to rest (at least for now!). I had a dream last night that I went in for the u/s and they found twins. I was in such shock that I went into labor...hope that doesn't happen today! Off to drop my DD off at the Nanny's and off to work...I strongly dislike Mondays!

Married.......wow look at that little belly grow........
Golden........sorry to hear about your son, I hope he returns to a happy and healthy little boy soon. I completely understand what you are going through, my niece was born with 1 lung, heart on the wrong side and no rectum, we've had our ups and downs with her, in and out of hopsitals, days on breathing machines, I know how difficult it can be but just think, its making you both stronger and a closer bond. Keep it up, your doing excellent.
Thumps and bumps....woke up last night pretty restless and I was just laying there and all of a sudden I pulled my stomach to my spine and was like "ugh" I think baby finally gave me a good sock for the first movement I've felt aside from flutters.
Me.....well today is one of my appointments, I'm hoping I can talk the doctor into doing the BIG u/s today, come on I only have 2 more weeks until I'm 20 weeks, so at least give it a try, right, afterall if he didnt and then we couldnt get baby to coperate in Nov. then that means I'd have to wait until December, ah no I DONT THINK SO, I cant wait that long, its killing me right now. But I am kinda happy, at my ob you see every OB in the office at some point in time just in case for some reason your main doctor cant be there to deliever the baby, so today I see a new lady, maybe I'll like her better and she will be a little more informative and helpful and spend a lot more time with us, I sure hope so keeping my fingers crossed. Wish me luck today! Dont worry I will be back with an update later today, maybe even a picture and a team announcement.........hahaha

goldenbridge ~ your son and your family are in my thought & prayers!!
marriedtoagoalie ~ look how cute your belly is!!! Definately popping there :D
whitlocken ~ at the very least, I'm sure you will get to schedule the u/s today. I know at my office the Dr's don't do them, the tech's do so you have to schedule with them. Just make sure that (in)conveniently you are only available this week :D
I think I felt a couple of good thumps this morning too. I am almost positive I felt in on the outside and not the just the inside, and it was definately more of a thud than the gentle taps I've been feeling. I will have to see if Chris can feel anything tonight. I hope so, because he has been dying too for weeks!
We also went to BRU this weekend :D We were just going to start looking at stuff, but Chris saw everyone else with their guns zapping away and needed one too. We didn't pick out too much, but definately got a good start. I'm going to double check our choices in my Baby Bargains book, but maybe you ladies can give me some advice too. Heres what is on the list so far:
Natures Touch Baby Papasan Swing (fisher price)
Baby Papasan Infant Seat (fisher price)
Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System (graco)
Pack-n-Play (graco)
Jeep 2-in-1 Baby Carrier (kolcraft - dh thought these were more manly than baby bjorn, but I'm kinda thinking we'd like the baby bjorn better???)
Sling Rider (Infantino ~ it was the only sling I saw there)
We didn't see any high chairs we really like there and got no where as far a furniture so I need to start looking more seriously for those. Especially furniture since I'm hearing it can take a while to come in.....

Hi All:
Had the big u/s yesterday and the baby looks good and healthy. He/she actually gave us the finger though! The u/s tech said that she has never seen that before and said that she thinks that this one is going to give us trouble. I was just happy to know that the baby is healthy but I won't lie and say that I wasn't trying to look for the sex of the baby. We didn't find out both we both are dying to know!
MarriedaGoalie: Your belly is too cute! I will not post belly shots here for fear that I would scare the first time Mom's out of having a second child. My stomach looks like I have been attacked by Freddy Kruger, with all the (fresh) stretch marks that I still have from my 10 month old DD.
MrsKinnison: The only advice that I can give on your choices is regarding the baby carrier. DH and I both love the baby bjorn. It is so comfortable and DD just loves it. We got the bjorn in Navy Blue so it is more 'manly' for DH to wear!

MrsKinnison - No advice on the front carrier but I have a NoJo sling which is ok. My chiropracter likes slings as I have mid-back problems. I would say that unless you need things on your registery, there are great places to buy beautiful handmade slings for under $50. With DC#2, I am seriously considering buying a pretty one as I know that it will be my best friend early on. At 14 months, DD still rides in it occassionally. It is nice because she can ride on my hip but the weight is a little more evenly distributed and I can be hands free.
There is a thread on slings (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=402)here.

3 1/2 hours until my ultrasound. It's for the spotting I had last week and the week prior. It's not my "Big" one, but being 18 weeks, I am sure IF I wanted to know, I could find out the gender. PLEASE GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO REMAIN ON TEAM GREEN!!!!!
Mrs. K: The spotting has stopped, thanks for asking :) I have an ultrasound today, which I am praying goes well. I am very nervous. I do have that Jeep 2 in 1 Carrier.....I don't have a Bjorn, but I do like the Jeep one...its pretty easy to put together. And the Pack N' Play is a pretty standard item. I use mine now...never used it with DS #1..but DS# is my little monster!! :)
Goldengbridge: I am so sorry to hear Andrew is back in the hospital :( But it is very good news to hear your fetal echo U/S went so well!
kindermom: Go TEAM BLUE!! I have a lifelong membership x 2...maybe even 3! :) Henry Porter is a great name. And Zoe made my short list for DS #1 and DS #2's name (if he, in fact, either been a female)
Orion: Welcome back! I am so happy your TEAM GREEN U/S went so well. I am dying about going today and scared I won't keep it together for a surprise.
Tandis: Love the U/S pics! :)
Marriedagoalie: Look at that baby grow. You look fabulous!
Whitlockan: Best of luck with your appt...and convincing doc to give you that U/S today :) Can they just "peak" for you!? I would think they would not be able to do the U/S today because it is fairly time consuming, and unless they prescheduled for that, it may be hard. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that they can do it though, and hope we see some pics later!

goldengbrige ~ I'm so sorry Andrew had to go back to the drs... I hope he heels well, and soon... You're still in my prayers...
Mrsk ~
I would only get one papusan swing/seat... just in case baby decides to hate the papusan, you still have a different option, yanno? :) (we've got the swing and loved it even though nic would only sit in it for about 5-10 minutes at a time). We also have the bjorn and LOVED that one... dont know anything about the jeep one... And, as far as slings go... bru is probably the WORST place to buy one... I'd get that one yourself online, or tell someone what you want and hint that they (or someone) should order you one...

GRRRRRRRR and a grumpy preggo comes back from the doctors.....
she came in and started with questions/answers took care of everything and I conviently said oh are we nearing the time for the u/s to determine the gender? Oh yes I have the paperwork right in my hands you will leave with it today and you can schedule it when you are ready before your next appointment, I was like oh yes, I'm excited, then I get out to check out and the lady prepares my paperwork and gives me this HUGE lecture about how I need to get as close to 20 weeks as I can so they can see everything they need to, so I felt really guilty and scheduled it for Nov. 6th, but I might call back today or tomorrow and make it for the last week of October, I just cant wait any longer, the suspense is killing me. Also I have to drink 16 oz of water 1 hour prior to my appointment and I cant empty my bladder until after, where this baby is laying, that seems impossible, I might burst when they apply a tad bit of pressure to see the baby........that would be kind of funny.
In other news....
she listened to the baby's heartbeat, it was funny she started right under my belly button and was like oh no thats yours, and we took it a little lower, nothing, she took it all the way down to the top of my pubic bone/bikini panti line and would you know the little one has nestled itself nice and low, she laughed and was like wow thats quite low, no wonder why you have so much pressure down there.
oh and guess what I dont want to make some of you jealous but I have struggled with weight all my life and I kinda just put everything aside and decided I was going to eat when I needed to, to be sure I had a healthy baby, would you believe I'm eating nothing but junk food and fast food literally every 1 1/2-2 hours and since the start of my pregnancy I've only gained 1 lbs to date, I'm super excited about it but we both laughed and she said dont worry your getting ready to hit your growth spurt, this wont last much longer......hahaha but most of it is because I had such a high metabolism to start with she said the pregnancy kicked it into high gear.
Also in other good news my blood pressure finally went back up from 104 to 122, so I was very pleased with that still in a healthy range.
Thats all for now........
Brink
10-17-2006, 03:25 PM
whitlockan - I believe they try and get you as close to 20 wks because the chambers of the heart have developed enough that they can see the blood flow. Sorry for the bummer news. But - if you are willing to pay $100 you can go get a 3-D ultrasound for gender determination. Not sure where the centers are where you live, but you just type 3-D Ultrasound with your area into Google and it will pull them up. I was looking at one for a friend the other day and it was under $100 to come in and have them look at the sex for you. Just a thought.......
As for me - I am now at 18 wks and going strong. I have an appt with a different Peri on Friday to check them out and see if I like them better. My other new Peri seems pretty good, but I want to make sure I have checked them all out given our situation. I also just found out that our insurance is changing on January 1st. Hopefully shouldn't affect too much, the dr and hospitals are in both networks, just means a pain when it comes to getting bills paid and who they are sent to. Oh well, nothing can be easy, can it?
Tandis
10-17-2006, 03:36 PM
Whitlockan - Let me be the first to say that you and your fast metabolism suck :p I think they could probably tell the baby's gender by the end of the month. Heck, I'm behind you and my Peri could tell at my 14w appt! So don't worry about moving it forward.
MommyinPA - Hope you managed to stay strong during your u/s! :)
Orion - Too funny about the baby giving you the finger. Did you u/s tech manage to get a picture of it for you? That would definitely be something to show him/her when s/he gets older!
MrsKinnison - LOL about making up a "preliminary" registry already ;) I was just doing the same thing online but at Baby Depot. I know I'm going to have to delete everything before DH and I go though, just so he doesn't miss out on the experience (though I have a feeling he totally wouldn't mind, but he does like using the "gun") ;)
Marriedagoalie - Aw, you have such a cute little belly! Definitely looking like a preggo now!
Brink - I can totally commisserate with you on the ins. My work just announced we're getting new ins. in January - no word yet on who we're going with though, so I have no idea if any of my Drs. or the hospital is covered. Why couldn't they do this when we're *not* pregnant?!
******************
Had yet another OB appt. today. This one actually went pretty good - but that's probably because the scale was too high last appt., so this time it showed that I only gained 2.5 pounds.
Dr. was looking around my stomach with the doppler, trying to find the kids, and finally managed to located Bert right underneathy my belly button - pretty much where he's been all along. So he asked where Arnie usually hangs out, so I showed him and boom - there's Arnie! He said he should have just asked me first before smearing that goo all over me.
And have I mentioned that we went and bought cribs on Saturday? Haven't put them together yet, but at least they're purchased and sitting in their boxes in my LR. Told DH that if nothing else our kids now have a place to sleep, and a room to do it in! ;) Also, the nursery is now green, though DH has to finish painting the trim, and probably do another coat of paint. But we do have pretty much everything we need to finish it.

MommyinPA- How'd it go? Were you able to stay strong? :D
Goldengbrige- I hope everything with your son turns out ok!
Tandis- By the way, that's so cute that you're calling the babies Bert and Arnie. We are super creative and call the baby Baby all the time:p
Whitlockan- That's interesting that they are giving you a hard time about wanting the ultrasound early. My doctor actually likes to get them done in the 18th week. We could clearly see the 4 chambers of her heart (not to mention her stomach, bladder, kidneys, etc) at that point too.
I was watching this show on Discovery Health yesterday about the development of the baby inside the womb. They had this one part where they talked about this new technology where they can take the image from the ultrasound and somehow turn it into a life-sized sculpture of the fetus. They made one for this pregnant woman and showed it to her and she was like "What is that?!" When they told her it was her baby, she seemed a little weirded out- I can't say I blame her. It was pretty bizzarre!
For whoever mentioned that they're having heartburn, I'm right there with you. It comes on at the most random times- I can never predict what's going to set it off. I carry a travel-sized bottle of Tums in my purse now:p
The baby has been moving a TON today. I'm not sure why, but it's so cool!
Tomorrow is DH and my 3rd wedding anniversary and the day I'm 20 weeks even (ie half way through the pregnancy)!! We're going out to a nice dinner- usually we cook a romantic meal in, but we demo'ed our kitchen over the weekend. Our "real" anniversary celebration will be our trip to Spain in a couple weeks though- I'm so excited:D

Had my monthly OB appt. today and all is well. She does an u/s at every appt. but we didn't see much today since the boy had his face buried in the placenta. She also said he had a full bladder and he was gonna have to pee soon! My next regular OB appt. is Nov. 14th, at which time we will decide on a date for the c-section!

Ultrasounds- I'm loving seeing all of these u/s pics. I have mine on Friday and I'm very nervous and excited. Brink, I'm very glad to hear that your u/s went well. Hopefully those girls will stay on their own sides. kindermom, congratulations on your boys. My fellow team green members, Orion and Mrs. Kinnison, glad to hear everything went well. Orion, that is too funny about the baby giving the finger. MommyinPA, I hope things went well today.
goldengbridge- sorry your son is going through such a tough time. I wish you and your family the best and hope that he recovers soon. I'm very glad to hear that this baby's heart looks good.
Kanga- I like the spelling Kaia better myself
Movement- I'm feeling a lot more movement lately and have felt a few kicks on the outside. Hopefully DH will be able to feel them soon.
Growth spurt- I know that people talk about popping and I've seen evidence of it on the belly shots thread but it's still really weird when it happens to you. Sunday night I noticed that I had grown some but by the end of the day Monday I felt huge. I woke up this morning and whoa, I definitely have a belly now. I definitely need to buy some maternity clothes because my pants that fit okay last week are killing me now.

Sorry girls it has been awhile since my last post, but things have been crazy for me. The work weeks are packed full from the time I get in until I leave and the weekends seem to end up the same way.
On a sports related note - The Detroit TIGERS have been keeping us quite busy lately with all the post season play!! I really hope they are able to win the World Series as it would be great for the city.
U/S set for next Monday and I am really getting excited. I also think it is becoming more and more real for DH as he is starting to show more signs of pre-baby stress. He has been working really hard to get our closet all set, so that we can work on the new office space. Once that is done we can clean out the former office and start painting the nursery!!
Well I hope all is well with everyone and as always be safe girls!! :D Dana

DH felt the baby this morning! He is so excited and it is so cute. I woke up at 5:30 am because I went to bed at 8:30 pm last night and the baby was pretty active. I had my hands on my stomach and I could feel them on the outside for the first time. DH woke up and put his hands on my stomach and the baby just gave him kick after kick after kick. He is just so excited to be feeling the baby this early. The baby has definitely changed positions because before I was getting kicked really low (just above my pubic bone) now I am getting kicked just under the belly button. When I went for the u/s on Monday, the tech said that the baby was transverse (lying from right to left across the belly) so I am thinking that the baby has changed positions now.
Littlemia: I hear you on the growth spurt. I was the same way. Sunday I noticed a little more belly and could feel it stretching (got to love rlp) but yesterday when I woke up it was a full fledged pregnant belly. Yesterday at work I got so many comments from strangers on my belly and asking when I was due. It was the first time anyone has really noticed so I must have taken a growth spurt.
Can I just say that I am a mean girl! Yesterday at work a stranger asked me when I was due and I asked him what he meant. He said when are you going to have a baby and I said that I wasn't pregnant just spent a lot of time drinking beer and the result was this beer gut. The look on his face was priceless and I couldn't help but start to laugh. I, of course, proceeded to tell him that I was pregnant and due in March and I though he was going to pass out from laughing so hard. The little old man (oh yes, did I mention he was an older gentleman?) though that that was the funniest thing ever and vowed never to ask another woman when they were due because he never thought about asking and making a mistake about a beer gut vs pregnant belly! Oh, I'm bad!
Dollface: Your little guy really did give you guys a show, eh! Too funny.

oh orion...you are mean :) if he'd been a busy body or an obnoxious stranger, you'd have been downright inspirational though ... and congrats on dh feeling movement...
Movement ~ I'm so confused... i thought I was feeling movement, but now I'm not so sure. I'm a ro - you'd think I'd know these things. I've felt flutters, but no thumps. I mostly get what I think is baby rolling -- for a few minutes, my belly will get really hard in one spot, almost like baby is stretching his/her back out of my belly (its a pretty big sized spot, so not a hand/foot...maybe a butt)...

Hello Ladies!
Thanks for all the ultrasound well wsihes. Much to my surprise, it was actually my "Big Ultrasound!" Anyhow, they did not see the cause of the spotting. ::::shrug:::: However, all looked great! Baby waved, and gave us the finger! Anyhow, baby is breech, and legs were tightly shut the whole time. Both ultrasound techs did try to see (for their own curiousity..not mine!), and they were getting frustrated! When I left, one of them said she "thinks" she knows, but she still wasn't sure. The baby looked great, and we are officially on TEAM GREEN!!!!!!!
Me and my hubby, after seeing baby, now officially have made our guesses. He says boy, I say girl.
Honestly, I am excited for a surprise! We will be ready for either!
Whitlockan Sorry you didn't get your U/S. Just be glad you didn't have mine. I think it will help to be around 20 weeks.....its easier to tell, and if you don't want a surprise, it hopefully will help :)
Orion: So cool hubby felt the baby! I barely have felt anything here.

I'm putting in my grumpy mood post for the trimester. I'm irritated with DH big time. For the past few nights, i have thought that I felt the baby kicking hard enough to feel on the outside. So, I've mentioned this to DH and asked if he wanted to try and feel. He has never gotten up once to come over and feel. And I know that if I try to get up, the baby will stop (I tried one night). He just doesn't seem as interested this time around. I can't figure it out. With DS he was begging at 5 weeks to try and see if he could feel the baby move. I just feel like he doesn't care this time around. He's done other things that just are ticking me off right now. Like I was pretty tired yesterday (low front and lots of rain plus overexerting myself hte day before) and he asked what was wrong, so I told him that I was just really tired and apologized for being a bum on the sofa. I thought maybe he would ask if there was anything he could do to makeme feel better or do to help around hte house. Nope. Nothing. I had to finish dinner and clean up. He never once offered to get me a drink or ask if I needed anything. Adding that to the lack of interest in feeling the baby move, it just seems like he really doesn't care. I know I'm just being hormonal, but it's getting my goat today. :(
MommyinPA- YEAH for another team greener!!

{{{{Lady}}}} I'm on my third, and hubby didn't even go to the U/S yesterday! (well, we really didn't know it would be our "Big One".) Luckily, I got a ton of pictures. He definately isn't as "into it" as he has been before...but this is old hat for him, I guess. ;) My first baby, he went to every apppointment with me. Now, he never goes, because I go during work hours! My second, he was barely awake to witness the birth. (the nurses had to wake him up...he was sound asleep) I know hubby is excited, as I'm sure yours is too. They just are a little more "been there, done that" after the first. It is a little disappointing at times, but I don't take it personally. He loves our second as much as our first, so despite his less interest in the pregnancy, he is just as interested in him as his child!

Along the same lines as what MommyinPA was saying, when we told my parents that I am pregnant, they told DH and I to really savor every moment of this pregnancy because there's nothing like having your first baby. You end up loving all your kids the same, but it'll never be as special as it was the first time. Of course, they made sure that my younger sister wasn't around when they said that:D
To all of you that have found out the gender of your babies, do you feel like the floodgates are about to burst open in terms of buying cute baby clothes and stuff? I'm constantly thinking of things to do that keep me away from the mall becuase I'm so afraid of spending a fortune of cute pink stuff! There's a Rugged Bear store in town here that has a bargain annex attached to it. I went in today and got a couple of super discounted things, but I dont want to buy too much, you know? A couple of things each week for the rest of the pregnancy will really add up in the end:o

I'm back online after a long fight with the internet company.
Buying things- since we've found out, I've been a lot more tempted to buy things. The tech told us not to, though, just in case.
Movement- I feel it every day now, but not really strong. I have an anterior placenta, so I've heard that can make a difference. I also get that rolling feeling, like the baby is turning around and stretching me out.

Orin: I love your story about the beer gut!! I know I get a lot of looks, but I think people are still scared to ask.
MommyinPA: I was thinking of going green, but I think 20 weeks is long enough to wait for the first!!
Dollface: Cute belly pic!!
Gender: We are going to find out the gender, but we don't plan to tell everyone until after the shower. I really don't want to get flooded with clothes at the shower. The only nice way I can think of to suggest people stick to the registry is to not give up the gender. Either way I have several people that have girls right now and my sister had 2 boys so I have a decent start on the clothes.
Movement: Last night was crazy - we played some Baby Einstein music and the kid was going nuts!! DH put his hand on the belly for awhile and said he thought he felt something. I can't wait until he really gets to feel some good one!!
Be safe everyone!!

Orion - You are too funny! I have been waiting for our receptionist to say something so I can look at her and ask her why she thinks I am fat! I never thought of the beer gut angle - very clever.
Low amniotic fluid - I got a call this morning that has me on pins and needles. For some reason my OB sent me to get my U/S early. Now, I think I am farther along than my EDD. So I went at 18 weeks, knowing I am probably closer to 20 weeks. At the U/S the tech said that I owuld probably have to come back because she couldn't see everything. But she did show us the heart beating. Well, according the the OBs office, I have to go back sometime soon. But she mentioned that my amniotic fluid is low. Granted the OB did not make it sound like and emergency but I am still freaking. My DD was 3 oz from being considered low-birth weight so there is some concern on my part on my placental health.
Just when I thought it was safe to come out of the wood work, this happens. :o

Kindermom ~ I hope everything turns out okay, but I am sure it will! Dr's tend to be very cautious, and if they were really concerened I'm sure they would make you come in right away. Just make sure you are drinking plenty of water, I've read that helps.
MommyinPa ~ I have to confess, I was secretly hoping "we" would find out what you were having :D
dollface ~ you look great! your belly is definately growing!
Orion ~ you crack me up!!
DH got to feel the baby this morning :D First thing in the morning seems to be a good time because the baby is right under my belly button and tends to move around just a bit when I first wake up. I am really hoping the baby keeps to the same schedule because it seems to be very active during the day, and always quiet at night!!!
Sorry, but i need to ask/talk/vent about some of the less glamorous aspects of pg. Anyone having troubles with yeast infections? Prior to pg, I had only ever had 2 in my life. I got one at the beginning of the month, did the 7 day treatment, was fine for one week, and now I have another one  My midwife had said that they are more common during pg, but this is crazy! I have been diligent about changing immediately after yoga (she said that waiting till I got home to change could be contributing) and have been eating yogurt everyday. Is there anything else I can do?

aw kindermom, if your ob didn't make it sound like an emergency then I would try not to worry too much about it... some women just have low levels of fluid and its perfectly normal...
MrsK ~ You could try taking acidopholous capsules... you can get them at any health food store. (Thats the good stuff in the yogurt). Also, try to avoid sugar (I know, easier said than done)... not sure if that includes all sweeteners or just white sugar though...

I've been reading along but not posting -- nothing too pregnancy related to say, and unbelievably busy. More stuff is happening with my house than with my baby at this point. :p
Last night, I had a "Practice Baby" at my house. :p My cousin was up from Portland and dropped her son off at my house while she and her husband went to a party for one of her in-laws. Same baby that was in the tux in the picture I posted earlier... except now he's 13 months. ;) He is very attached to his mama so we all were sort of worried about how he'd handle being in a new house with new people, but man, it went so great!
He couldn't keep his hands off his stroller so we went for a little walk around the 'hood. He played with blocks on my living room floor, and then we had some dinner -- man this kid can EAT!! I hope I get so lucky with such a good eater. He ate green beans, tofu, cheese, yogurt, asian pear, banana, orange, and corn puffs.
He even said what was definitely understandable as "Cheese" to me multiple times. His mom said he'd never done that before! He signed "more" (as in more CHEESE!) and "all done." When we were done with his dinner, I ate my bowl of beef stew while sitting on the floor in the living room. He came over to me with a mouth wide open signing "More," and I gave him a few bites cooked carrot/potato, which he ate with big grins. The kid has an appetite like nobody's business.
I also changed 2 poopie diapers. Probably very related to the large appetite. :p
At 8:45 when I laid him down in the PNP, he went right to sleep. No tears when I laid him down, no tears when his parents left. We had a little bit of regular 13-month whining at points during the night ("Why won't the kitties let me touch them??"), but really, I couldn't believe how well he handled everything. I was so proud of him.
After he left, B said, "Well, at least now we know that the Pack-n-play works!"
So I guess I could make that a QOTD: Anybody else planning on getting into Baby Signing? I've been around a few kids now who know some basic signs and I have to say -- I am SOLD! I think it is the coolest thing ever.
---
Ooh - and speaking of the tux. I think somebody asked where they got it?? It was actually bought three years ago for their nephew to wear to their wedding. I do know that Erika ordered it off the 'net somewhere... so if you Google for "newborn tuxedo" you might find something similar.

kindermom: I can't speak from experience but I do know that my friend who is 34 weeks pregnant has had what the doctors are calling dangerously low amniotic fluid since her u/s at 20 weeks. She has gone in for an u/s and more recently non stress tests weekly and she was told that her baby would be a low birth weight because of it. But at one of the last u/s (I think at 32 weeks) the baby was at 4 lbs meaning that even with low amniotic fluid that baby had a growth spurt and it looks like the baby will be a healthy weight. She was told to drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet and to take things easy. I'm sure that if your doctor doesn't seem to concerned than things will be fine but make sure that you are an active part of the medical side of pregnancy and if you think you should be monitored more closely, let the doctor know. If anything, it will calm your fears! Take care.
Janey: Good job with the "practice baby"! If you can handle poopy diapers after the amount of food that kid ate, you can handle anything!
MrsKinnison: How did you DH react to feeling the baby? With our first, he was absolutely amazed. The whole time I was pregnant with our DD, it didn't seem real to him. He said that he knew that I was pregnant and that that meant that we were having a baby but it never seemed real to him until he felt Sophie. This time was a little less dramatic than the first time, but just as amazing. As far as yeast infections, I can relate. I have never had one before in my life until this pregnancy (I didn't even have one in the last pregnancy). My doctor just told me to take otc meds if needed but if it got worse than to go into see her. I was also told to drink lots of water, avoid too much sugar and eat yogurt. Sorry if this is too much info but this might help. I know a few people have mentioned a mojor discharge problem during pregnancy and maybe that is one of the reasons for the yeast infection. Maybe if you are having this problem as well, try panty liners so the undies are clean all the time. Hope this helps.
danalou: My friend, this is the time to use the beer gut story. When you are just starting to show and the little preggo belly could be mistaken for a beer gut it is the prime time to get people with the beer gut story...I am so mean! :D
Question: When I went in for my u/s the baby was lying transverse. Does this mean that the baby is breech? Will this be a problem or is it early enough that the baby will have time to go head down. The tech said that usually the head is down by now but it isn't a problem since I was only 19 weeks but what do you guys think? With DD her head was down by the big u/s and she stayed that way.

QOTD: We started signing with Jack when he was roughly 7 months and of course it took awhile to catch on but now says and signs many different things now at 17 months. More, Milk, Thank you, Please, Book, Read, Bath, Hurt, Wait, Help, just to name a few! Some people are worried it with delay their development in speaking but we have not had that issue here! My child talks a lot and now talks and signs at the same time when trying to get his point across.

My baby was breech at our ultrasound too. I thought it was weird that the tech mentioned it, but didn't think anything of it. I figured he/she would flip when they were ready. BUT, it was strange. I will be asking about it at the next appointment (next Tuesday). Hopefully baby will flip. I have no plans for a c-section!

Baby Signing - we did some of this with Aimee. We signed "milk" and "eat". She never really caught on to signing back, but she definitely knows what it means. She can be accross the room and I say her name and make the eat sign and she'll come over for dinner. We could have been better about working with her on it, but I'm happy with what we did. It is A LOT of work, and if they are in daycare or staying at other peoples houses, you need to make sure they are aware of your baby signing and they are following it too.

Update to the low fluid - I have a Level 3 ultrasound in a week and a half, right after I return from Disney.
Baby Signing - We have done this inconsistently since M was about 7 months old. She learned drink (really the milk sign) around 11 months IIRC. She recently went through a language explosion and to add to her new 5-10 words, she learned about 10 new signs which she uses well. I would highly recommend it, even if you can only do it half-heartedly.

Betsyboop: You articulated it better about the first pregnancy being "special". Of course ALL babies are special, but now everything is just so much more routine, especially this being my 3rd, and hubby's 4th!! I just tell hubby when it's time to go to the delivery room. :::giggle::::
Dollface: Your belly is so cute!
Danaluv: I don't blame you for not wanting to be a Team Green! There are plenty of days I don't want to be there, either! :) My hubby is going nuts. He is talking about paying for another ultrasound. I think I can hold out, but I am not so sure he can. Very smart about not revealing the gender until after the shower!
Kindermom: Sorry to hear about the low fluid. I don't know much about it at all, but sounds sike your doctor is being proactive, which is good!
Orion, Lady1297: Our peanut is breech too! They say it makes is hard to see the gender that way. I have talked to a lot of my girls on my email loop, and many of them said that their babies were breech at their Big U/S, but did turn eventually. Though admittedly, I have been reading a little too much about external versions.....
Mrs. K: Sorry to disappoint about not finding out! Part of me secretly wouldn't have minded if they showed me the goods, too. God, I am terrible at surprises!!!!!!!!! I haven't had any yeast infections, but don't even make me go there and descibe all the discharge I have had this pregnancy. Thank god for pantyliners. (I know...TMI)
Betsyboop (again:) I don't know the gender, but I am already looking through my very cute newborn boys outfits from my other two!!!! Also, my friend is giving me a bunch of newborn girls stuff when I am up in MA in November for a weekend. Her friend had boy/girl twins in May and gave her all her too small clothing. My friend is expecting a boy so she wants me to take them "just in case", so that I am not scrambling if it turns out to be a girl! If I was to have a girl, I would probably go nuts buying clothing......so another good reason to have a surprise!

Dollface - I have the Mayo Clinic book through year one, and my Mom has this old book from the '70s called "The Mother's Encyclopedia" - which she used for me, and still comes in really handy. So I might get another one, but I sort of doubt it.
Breech/Transverse - I was under the impression that the baby moves around until just a few weeks before birth. To use my SIL as an example once again, her baby was all over the place until just a couple weeks ago when s/he finally stayed head down.
Janey - Glad the "practice baby" worked out so well!
YI - I haven't had this problem, but then it's like the Sahara down there, so that might be why ;)
Kindermom - Sorry to hear about the low fluid. Like others have suggested, try drinking more water and hopefully that will help. Hope your u/s turns out fine, and have fun in Disney!

Glad everyone is going well, I just got back from a weekend in NYC to celebrate my Mom's 60th birthday. Worn out but a fun trip, we actually had a celebrity siting of Will Smith, so that was fun.
Books - I highly recommend the Dr Sears Book, I am still looking up things here and there in that book. I also have a variety of sleep books which I never really got into. With the internet today I often use the Dr Sears website and kellymom.com (a good BF website).
Buying Things - I am holding off until I know the sex. We are on hold depending if we are going to move rooms around or what until we find out what the gender is!

tandis - I bought that cardigan almost right after I found out I was pregnant! I couldn't resist. I also got the monkey sweater that goes underneath it.

Man, that monkey sweater is too freakin cute.
I would like to learn some signs to teach my baby. I remember when I went to daycare, there was a little boy that signed there. And that was 20 years ago!
I am so jealous of the people whos dh's can feel the baby. I'm afraid with all the fat on my belly mine will never be able to feel it! Every time I try to get him to, the babe stops moving!
I have been having really sore inner thighs. Like I did a ton of squats. I can't figure out what's causing it, but sometimes it's hard to walk!
Kindermom, I would be worried too, but I'm sure your doctor is taking good care of you.

Dollface - That's too funny that you bought the same sweater. I've been looking at the underneathe monkey sweater on eBay (there's a ton!) and I'm sure I'll eventually add that to my purchases as well ;) I just think it's the most adorable thing! It's a shame Gymboree stopped that whole line, because otherwise I'd probably own all of it. On second thought, that might be a good thing ;)
Goldengbridge - Congratulations on a girl! Keep us posted on how Andrew is doing.

Goldenbridge ~ Congratulations on the little girl!!! Keep us posted on how Andrew is doing. I hope he is back home and healthy soon.
Tandis ~ I love that sweater!!! Those twins are going to look so adorable!!
Shimmerstar ~ I have been very tight in my right groin muscle (I think because it is the inside of my thigh) since getting pg. I was doing yoga before, but had to slack a bit in the first trimester, but I have been back at my regular schedule for about 7 weeks and it is finally getting better. Everyone talks about how loose your body gets when pg, and part of me seemed to do the exact opposite!
Books ~ I have repeatedly heard really good things about The Baby Whisperer, so I might get that one.
YI ~ blah! I haven't been experiencing any discharge, but maybe trying pantyliners anways would help? Are those asidopholus pills okay to take? And lastly, since I was just at the dr a couple of weeks ago would you call again because its back? Sometimes I just feel like I call them all the time and I am driving them crazy. This week I called to see if the hot tub was okay with the heat turned down (good thing I asked because the answer was no), last month I called twice because I was sick (once from some mexico thing, then a cold), and the month before to ask about something else. I just don't want to be "that girl." I have an apt on the 31st, should I just wait?
Baby Stuff ~ a much better topic! We still have not purchased a single thing, but I have a shopping trip with the girls to the outlets planned for next Sunday. One has a 2 year old daughter, and the other is due one month after me, so it should be a fun trip. I plan to definately buy some things then. We have picked out our bedding set and MIL told us yesterday that she wants to buy it when we are ready :D She is so good to us! After the baby is born, we will just add some pink or blue pillows, accessories, and long curtains to go with the valance.

I love that bedding set, MrsKinnison! Where is it from?
Interesting about the yeast infections and yogurt being a way to decrease them. I've never had one, so I don't know anything about them at all, but I have started craving yogurt during my pregnancy even though I normally dislike it. It's usually way too sweet for me. Anyway, maybe that's my body's way of keeping the yeast at bay.
goldengbridge- Welcome to team pink!! :D

goldengbridge ~ Welcome to team pink. Continued prayers for andrew...
MrsK ~ Be careful with the bf'ing advice in the Baby Whisperer...it sucks. She's the one that does EASY, right? (eat, activity, sleep, you-time ...routine, not schedule) ... I haven't read her, but my gf did, and I did like the routine thing...
Books ~ Let's see...
Harvey Karp's book is a good one... it's all about the 5 s's and how to calm your baby in the 4th trimester (its a quick read, you can skim a lot cause he's totally redundant...or he has a video out too...)
I bought a bunch of bf'ing books then never used them. My best reference was the bf'ing thread on cc...
The No Cry Sleep Solution was another good one...and not a bad idea to read it BEFORE the baby is born (no one told me that...ugh)
Baby clothes ~ I haven't bought anything yet...don't really plan to buy too much more than a coming home outfit though (regardless of girl or boy...we have a bunch of unisex clothing, and I'm sure we'll get gender specific gifts...)

Books--For newborns, I really liked The Happiest Baby on the Block. Sam was a great sleeper until he hit around 1 year. Then I was just LOST. I can't say enough about Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, by Marc Weissbluth. It addresses different ages, and how their sleep habits change as they get older.

I totally agree with Nanner. I cannot say enough about Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby. My daughter is a great sleeper and such a happy go lucky baby and I really think it is due to the schedule she is in and the amount of good, quality sleep she gets.

Books Another Weissbluth baby here! I read a couple other sleep books that were pretty much useless...HSHHC was the only one that really worked for us. Other than that, I read What to Expect the First Year for general stuff, will recommend (again!) the Baby Bargains Book and I plan to buy the Happiest Baby on the Block dvd to review (we watched it in my parenting class for the 1st baby). I read the Baby Whisperer and 2nd the comment that she sucks for bf-ing advice. I don't remember much else from the book but I don't think she did much for us.

Back from my big u/s and I still on Team Green. I won't get the results for at least few days and I'm going on vacation next week so I probably won't see the full report until my 22 week appointment. But my midwife told me that if anything was really wrong they would tell me right away. So I'm hopeful that everything's okay.
The tech said the baby was having a party in there, moving and flipping around so much that she had a hard time getting the images she needed. When she showed me the screen, I got a few good looks at the profile. She showed us the facial shots, too, but they just look kind of freaky to me. We got 4 pictures; I'll try to scan them at work and post them next week. We have a video too, I haven't looked at that yet.
I still won't feel fully relaxed (well close to it anyway) until I get the full report, but I feel a lot better knowing the baby measures on target and has a strong heartbeat and two arms and two legs.
Question- did you have an internal u/s to check the cervix as well? They did that but I wasn't expecting it. Just wondering if it's routine.
goldengbridge- Congratulations on your girl. Very glad to hear her heart looks good. I hope you guys are able to come home from the hospital next week.
Thanks to everyone for the book recommendations. I signed up for the free AAP book at the State Farm website (there's a thread in Pregnancy about it) but I haven't received it yet.
Yeast infections- I had a problem with these a few years back. Some of the things I did- cut out a lot of sugar (I think this was my main problem), changed to a sensitive skin soap, changed toilet paper, wear only cotton underwear. I'm sorry you're going through these; I know how much they suck.

The bedding is Flashback by Glenna Jean. She has a lot of really cute sets on her website. There are a bunch of places online that you can buy it, but right now all the prices are the same, but Babyage.com currently has free shipping on orders of $50 or more.

I'm going to Arizona for the next 10 days. Miaclear, you're up to bat. ;)
I think this vacation is going to be really good for me, cause lately I am dumber than a box of rocks (http://stfunfw.wordpress.com/2006/10/20/oooh-cookies/). Hopefully the time away will clear the slate.

Thanks for the warning Janey! And have fun!
Nothing new to update here for me. I checked out prenatal classes and there didn't seem to be any worry about them filling up soon. Regardless I want to get registered in the next month so we need to decide which class works best. They roll all the classes into one so we can take a one day 8 hour class, 2 four hour classes, or 4 two hour classes...that covers the birthing portion. Then there is a two hour breastfeeding, a two hour newborn care, and a two hour CPR class to go along with the birthing class. I think I want to do the 4 two hour classes. Anyone have any opinions, suggestions on this? They all start right after the first of January and will be done anywhere from the end of Jan to mid Feb. $120 per couple. Just curious what other people are finding out. I'm excited to have something to look forward to after the holidays. I figure it would be all happy fun stuff to pass the time and then Jan/Feb would just drag.
I am getting frustrated still only feeling flutters, more some days, less other days. I want a good kick!
Baby Gear....we have yet to buy anything. Honestly I don't plan on buying much and am hoping that our showers will provide plenty. In November we'll buy the furniture and get the materials for my mom to make the quilt. Otherwise we're just collecting bits and pieces here and there from friends who give gifts or used items.

Morning Ladies
I have been feeling a bit stressed and behind the power curve. When I came on here and see that I am not the only one who has not bought anything it was a huge sigh of relieve!! Thanks!
Books- I have read happiest baby on the block. I am looking for a good 1st year book any recommendations
clothes- I bought some last week. We have 6 babies being born in my office from now til March. I bought a bunch of stuff on clearance for gifts but if I fall in love with any of it I will keep it.
infections- Almost constant! UG!! I need to stock up on yogurt and cut back on sugar!
Emotions. Is anyone else just now feeling emotional? I was in tears 1/2 of yesterday. I had a very good reason but normally I am much more controlled then that.
Hope everyone is having a great day!

peewee ~ not that I would wish this one anyone, but I am so glad I am not the only one!!!
Janey ~ have a great vacation!!
there goes my theory right out the window... I have been under the impression that the baby is active all day and quiet all night which would make for the perfect schedule when born. DH woke up in the middle of the night and said he had his hand on my stomach to see if he could feel anything and was the babe kicking away! I should have known it was too good to be true :p

Janey, have fun on your trip!
Mrs. Kinnison- I feel my baby every time I wake up at night. I feel him in the evening too, but hardly ever during the day. I hope that doesn't mean I'll have a nightowl!
Peewee- I have been somewhat emotional lately too. Dh will be joking with me and I'll start getting upset, which never happens. Then we watched the movie "click" and I became pretty much hysterical and we had to turn it off. Warning- it is not a lighthearted comedy! :p

Miaclear- We have a similar set up at our hospital for the classes. We can take a 5-week class, a one weekend class, or a one day class. We're going with the one day class to just get it over with. I signed up earlier this week and was pretty much the first person to do so since the woman there said the schedule had just come out like the day before. We're taking that birthing class on Jan 20, and then a 2-hour breastfeeding class and 2-hour infant care class on Feb 3. I think the total cost for all 3 classes is about $225, but my insurance will pay for $90 of that.
Janey- Have a great trip!!
Peewee- Oh yeah, I've been SO emotional lately. I went to Babies R Us the other day to just check out what they have, etc and I got teary and had to leave just because I got so excited about having a baby. I get teary about things on tv on a daily basis. Oprah is a very difficult show for me to watch now. I actually cried for an entire day after watching one that had a segment about someone whose kid had died in a tragic accident:o I'm glad I'm not the only one!

When in line at Old Navy, someone was telling me about her grandkids who were born at 23 weeks. Of the triplets, only one survived (the largest baby was 1.8 lbs). It took alot not to start crying right there for the family's loss. And forget about watching any of the baby story shows on TV. I cry at the end of all of them.

Okay, just to illustrate my emotional psychosis, I will share a story from today. Tower of Terror (an old disney movie) was on tv, and it just happened to be on while I was painting. It came to the "sad" part and I was rolling my eyes and thinking how cheesy the movie was. Then, as I'm telling dh about it in the car later, tears start pouring out of my eyes. He was cracking up. If I had let myself, I could have cried about it for hours!

Thank goodness I am not the only one. Not that I want others to be emotional but I thought I was losing it. I have been so teary for 2 days. My dh is a contractor and his company lost the rebid for the contract. Most likely in 60 days he is out of a job (20 DEC!!) He was unemployed for 2.5 years before this. It caused extreme amounts of stress on our marriage and he battled depression. he is still coming out of it so needless to say I am a wreck because the timing sucks! Because of my job I am legally bound to be in the area for 18 more months so we can't move for his job. Please keep him in your thoughts.
Cross Post from Preg thread- Has anyone tried Old Navy's maternity undies? How is the sizing? My undies are so tight they are uncomfy!! I never wear the size recommended- VS says I wear a Small and I always buy Large so i am clueless when it comes to Maternity. Thanks
Whitlocken- How have you been??
Goldenbridge - congrats on your u/s continued good wishes for Andrew!

 OMG I am halfway through this pregnancy. How can that be? Where did the time go?
Simmerstar: Click made me an emotional wreck! Due to the increased emotional state that I am in, DH and I are careful to get lighthearted comedies. We thought we were safe with an Adam Sandler movie! But it was such a good movie...so much better than I expected.
Baby Gear: We made our first purchase yesterday...sort of. We have pretty much everything that we need for Baby #2 because of Baby #1. Yesterday, we bought a big girl car seat for Sophie (the Britix Marathon) so that the new baby will be able to use the Peg Perego infant car seat that we have. So sort of a purchase for baby #2.
I need some advise from the RO's: DD will be 15 months old when this baby arrives and I was wondering about sleeping arrangements. We are planning on buying a moses basket for the new baby for the first little bit and we also have a pnp with a bassinet attachment. Do I really need to buy another crib for this baby. Would DD be to young to move to a bed at about 18 months old? When do you normally put toddlers into beds?

Prenatal Classes - I registered for my classes Friday and I am glad that I did. My doctor told me to look into the around 6 months, but around here with the way Christmas falls into our pregnancy they are filling up fast. We ended up signing up for 3 classes total -> 2 weekend 4 1/2 hour child birthing classes, 2 1/2 hour baby care class and a 2 1/2 hour breastfeeding class. The total cost of the classes was $90.00 which is a really great deal. We both have our current CPR & First-aid certifications and made sure to add child and infant when we took it!!
MOM 2 MOM Sales - This is the thrid weekend that I have made it to local M 2 M Sales and they are great. Once we know the sex getting clothes is going to be a easy process with the quantity I have access to in my area. This weekend I scored a bunch of maternity clothes for myself for $15. Plus I have been stock pilling on the hard cover books for the nursery!! I am curious is anyone else has check out this as an option nursery items?
Well ladies have a great finish to the weekend and wish me luck with our 20 week U/S tomorrow morning!!

I hit myself in the stomach yesterday with a shopping cart and worried all night that I had torn my placenta. The baby was moving a ton, so I figured there was something wrong. Everything seems to be okay today though.
