TTCers of ConstantChatter:
Charting Our Course to the BFPs

http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.

So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!

Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.

Your threadmistresses for this thread are Chris n Jen and RobynScott.

To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread every month. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistresses would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if we get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.

If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!

Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb

* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.

* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.

* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.

* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.

* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.

* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.

* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.

* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.

* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.

* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.

* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!

* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!

* Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations

This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!

•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
MBFP Mystery big fat positive- When you see a BFP in someone’s chart but they haven’t announced it yet
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

A couple questions...

How long can an egg survive after it’s released? I’ve read anywhere from 6hrs all the way to 48 hrs with the average being 12 hrs. Is this about accurate? Doesn’t it take some time for the egg to travel to the uterus? The reason I ask is because my chart is looking suspiciously triphasic. We BD 2 days after O (at least I think so, see question #2) so I’m wondering if it’s even possible that I’m pg. I’d basically ruled it out since we were apart for what I thought was my fertile period so no BDing. I'm still trying to rule it out and not get my hopes up.

Do you think I O’d when both FF & OS say I did? (CD27). Could it have been a day off? (i.e. CD28 which makes conception on CD29 more likely?) Or was the temp jump on CD34 actually O day?

Trying not to read too much into it. I read in TCOYF that this pattern occurs in most pg women but not all. I also know you can have this pattern and not be pg too. Anyways, just curious what people think is going on with my chart and what's causing this the big temp jump.

SQ2- it looks like you O'ed later than FF says, have you tried adding a fake high temp for tomorrow to see if it changes the O date?

I sure hope September is a better month for all of us! That was my first time opening a new thread so let me know if you see any mistakes. I already noticed that when you click on the new thread link it takes you to the last post I posted instead of the top. Not a big deal but I'll fix it. :D

I might look into the Acupunture thing also but I HATE needles so I can't imagine that it's going to relax me.

I'm not a big fan of needles either, well actually, I don't like them at all. (having thyroid issues doesn't really allow for hating them, but if I didn't have to have blood drawn every few months, I would be in the hate them boat). Anyhoo, if you find an accupuncturist that uses the Japanese method you will hardly feel anything. The needles are tiny...like the size of a strand of hair. Pretty much the only thing I feel is the tube she uses to guide the needles, other than that I may feel a little when she's by my shins, but it doesn't "hurt" for more than a second. I'm not sure what the Chinese method feels like since I've never had that done, the needles are a smidge bigger so maybe you'd notice it a little more. But I'm not in pain.

I got my last post in just before this new thread so I'm going to re-post it here because I still need someone to talk me to my senses. :)

Thanks for the welcome ladies!

Kanga - I remember you too, neat to see you here since last time we were together you were a LIW IIRC!

---------

I have totally convinced myself that I am PG. I had convinced myself of it by 6 dpo, when I had a nice temp spike but technically couldn't have even been pg yet. Then the next day my temp was still up and I thought to myself, "Aha, I knew it!". And then today my temp *dived*. So I was all bummed and everything and then I read about IMPLANTATION DIPS, so now I am pretty convinced again.

Someone talk me out of my madness!

Lora -
Well, considering that I am up against a LPD (luteal phase defect) I guess we had a relatively easy time (we got it the 5th month). I did use progesterone the month before I got PG though. My LPD has improved since giving birth so I guess I am hoping it will be even easier this time, plus, I am obsessed with having a May baby. :p

I just put a link to it in my siggy after that post when I realized people would have to dig for it otherwise! :D

Happy to see a new thread! I think that the title is very appropriate. :)

Tealynn- Not a pathetic pity party AT ALL, your feelings are very normal. If they aren't then a lot of us are pathetic, which of course isn't true. ;)

Steve's Sweety - I'm on my 4th cycle and also have a LPD, I'd be happy to get pregnant by our 5th month (4th would be even better). Did you ever figure out why you have a LPD? My dr's are still trying to figure out why I do.

SQ2 - Maybe you will have one of those miracle pregnancies, I've seen the charts on FF and ovusoft. However, in the interest of not getting your hopes up I will add that I had at least one beautiful triphastic chart while TTA.

Me: I did ALL the right things yesterday to increase my CM. I drank gobs of water, green tea, Fertilitea and a big glass of grapefruit juice. I had the EWCM but DH fell asleep really early (like 9pm). I was so sad (but tried hard not to be bitter/mad). Funny thing, he woke me up this am at 4:45 to BD. Not my preference, but I went for it. Ah the things we do to try to get pregnant.

No SOs for now, but I am done with the lap.

Copied from my journal:
Well, the lap is over and I am at home. I am still groggy, but I feel pretty good. All went well. I am a little sore at the incision sites (1 tiny one in my belly button and one tiny one in my pubic region) and I had some cramping when I woke up, but that's gone now. My dr. told DH that I don't have endo and things mostly looked good except for a little blockage in my left tube. She said she tried to push the dye in and it came back out at her instead of going through easily. She said she thought it was just a mucousy thing. I hope that flushed it out and we are good to go. She said the next step is post-coital test and IUI, but I think we are going to give it a few months first. The more people we talk to, the more we hear it took a year to 18 months or so for them to get pg...I asked DH where these people were the year before we started TTC so we could have started earlier. I feel like now I have done what I can do and I am more at peace with it, for now anyway.

Thanks for the new thread Jen! I think the title is cute- and very appropriate!

I will really try to get better at posting now that we have a new thread. August was a really ~blah~ month for me. I'm glad its almost over! September is my favorite month anyway- my birthday month, and there is just something about fall coming that makes me happy.

Welcome to all the new members who have joined this thread since I last posted! I hope you are all here for a very brief time! :D

Jess, I'm glad things went well with your lap & HSG. I hope that little flush will do the trick!

Steve's Sweety- what is your normal LP length? Because that sure does look like a good implantation dip, but I guess it could also be AF coming. I know you said you had an LPD. I'm not much help, am I? Keeping my fingers crossed for you that it is implantation!

SQ2, I'm not very good at distinguishing ovulation unless its a really obvious jump. I can't tell when I ovulated this month either. It does look like they are calling it right, but stranger things have happened!

honeygirl, hope you caught the egg with that AM BD session! I agree, I never thought I'd be getting up that early in the morning to BD! The things we do to have a baby. :p

MSH, Thanks for the baby dust! We all need it!!

Update on me- I have an appt scheduled with the RE for October 10th, which is the earliest they could get me in. So we have 2 more months to try and make it happen on our own. I did have 2 days of EWCM this month, so we took advantage of it! I don't hold out much hope, but I'll test if I get to 15 DPO. So, Threadmistress, can you move me to waiting to test, 9/4- 9/10? Thank you!

Katiems118 ~ FF didn’t do anything if I added a bunch more high temps. But, if I change Tuesday’s temp to 98.5 and Wednesdays to 98.4 , it gives me a later O date to CD34 (a week later). I’m still so confused. :(

Steve’s Sweety ~ I can definitely related to the ups and downs of getting excited or disappointed by every little change on my chart. I overanalyze, I have FPS. I’m trying to not get my hopes up but it’s so hard. It’s amazing what our brains will do to play tricks on us, whether we’re pregnant or not. Hang in there!

RobynScott ~ Welcome! :D

honeygirl ~ That is too funny about BD at 4:45am. The things we do! Hee hee. And yeah, I know triphasic charts can happen when there isn’t a pregnancy. What do you think, though, how long can an egg last?

tealynn - I'm sorry that I sent Ernesto your way. Hopefully he won't ruin your long weekend. If my experience with him means anything, he's all talk and no action. LOL We hardly got any wind or rain. They said we would flood but South Florida experienced a lot more flooding with last year's storms. Stay dry!

honeygirl - Glad DH woke you up this morning!!!

Jess - Glad the lap went well. Hopefully it did flush out whatever was blocking your tube.

Robyn - Welcome to the thread!

Me - Still no sign of AF. Ok can someone please explain to me what spotting is like??? I've been using a light tampon in the day because I feel like AF is on the verge of coming and everytime I take it out I see like a hint of brown tinged CM on it. I've been considering this spotting, but maybe its not? So confused! Just wish the old hag would arrive already.

SQ2 - Here's what I found re: the egg(s)

Most ova probably survive about six to twelve hours after ovulation. However, for the purposes of contraception, you must count on a 24-hour survival period, plus an additional 24 hours in case there is a multiple ovulation.

The woman's egg can only live up to 24 hours. Two or more eggs may be released over a maximum of 24 hours. So, in a vacuum, a woman is only fertile for about a day or two. But the man's sperm can live up to 5 days, so the combined fertility of the two individuals is about a week.

Yeah! A new thread! Now I can jump back in and not be too far behind! ;) I've been bad about temping this cycle so far (I've only temped today and yesterday and I'm already on day 11! :o Oops.). I usually O between 13-16 but I've been SWIMMING in EWCM yesterday and today so I'm wondering if I'm going to O earlier. My DH has been out of town and is coming back today, so we're gonna have to start getting it on just in case. Hopefully I'll be able to tell when I do given my lack of temps! As for my CM, I have been drinking a 72 oz jug of water each day, instead of my *maybe* 12 oz that I used to drink and I'm thinking that must by why I have so much more than normal. It's crazy! :D

Sorry for no shoutouts...I'll try to keep up from here. But, welcome to the new ladies in here, good luck to those getting ready to test, and sorry for those that AF found.

Hello September thread. I want to wish everyone lost of BABY DUST in the new thread.

A couple people posted that they are drinking lots of water and that is helping them get lots of EWCM. So will that do it? I posted in the last thread that I started drinking a little grapefruit juice this cycle, and I have not noticed an increase, although I am only on cd 8. I usually only get 1 or 2 days of fertile cm and think that I need more in order to help things along. Just trying to figure out how to get pregnant this cycle:confused:

honeygirl~ thanks for that info...I am hoping i am on the longer end of that spectrum...

mrs_pell~ if all you are doing is drinking more water I am gonna have to get one of those huge water jugs for next cycle..I had one maybe two good days...where is was present all day...I HOPE that was enough...

numberlady~ I think we are all just trying to figure out HOW to get preggo....its so stressful...I tried grapefruit juice and it really didnt do anything for me...I too will be trying more water next month!

Thanks for the well wishes, ladies! I took a nap this afternoon, but I have felt fairly good the rest of the day. I am a little tired feeling, my throat is scratchy from the tube, and I have some tummy pain, I think from the gas stuff they had to pump my abdomen up with, but it's all tolerable. I actually went out for pizza with DH and friends tonight. I may be more sore tomorrow, though, who knows. Kinda funny- it looks like somebody colored in my belly button with a purple magic marker. This cotton mouth is getting on my nerves, though. I am definitely getting my water quota for the day!

As for the water discussion- I think of it like this- all of your fluids are made up of water, and if you aren't getting enough, then you won't make enough. I can drink all the water I want and I still don't make much CM without drinking green tea too. Some people are just chronically dehydrated and the water is all they need. Well, I am getting tired. I think I will go.

SQ2 - I hate to say it, but based on your CM I would almost think you O'd on CD25 or 26. I'm no expert though... And I was under the impression that the egg lasted less than 24 hours after Oing.

Robyn - Welcome!

Tish - I know you wanted to be talked away from the proverbial ledge, but that is a mighty purdy chart...;)

Jess - Glad to hear everything went well!

Kelby - I started drinking a TON of water (about 80oz a day) back in May, and I haven't noticed any major increase in EWCM. I think it depends on the person.

FSUSammy

polkadot - Thanks for the answer about spotting. That's what I was figuring. Wish AF would just show up already!

me - AF is still a no show. :( I guess the only good thing about it is that the longer she takes to arrive the more likely I'll O later this month which means I just might be able to start TTC this month again. LOL so silly how you justify what's going on with your body.

Hi all,

Thanks for the warm welcome! Day 4 of (brown) spotting here - AF expected Sunday - what the heck is going on?

New to charting here - just started last week (even though I was/am in the 2WW) to get in the habit to do it for real next month.

Q - when do you start seeing the temp drop for AF? I'm wondering if I am starting to see that now. This is my chart - I know I only have a few temps on there - not sure if you can tell anything by looking.

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1095fc

I know AF is coming - at the same time, I feel like I don't want to give up hope until she is actually here - and not this stupid brown stuff! ugh!

On the bright side, I keep telling myself if (when) AF shows, I can really start charting and getting an idea of what is going on with my body :) (is that sick logic or what?)

FSUSammy
09-01-2006, 08:19 AM
Robyn - Usually your temp does a drastic drop the day before AF. Granted everyone is very different. The thing is since you just started temping you wouldn't know what your coverline is so it's hard to tell what is a true drop for you. Sorry about the spotting. I'm having the same thing happen this cycle. I'm 15 DPO and I KNOW I'm not PG. Oh and you are NOT sick for wanting AF to show up so that you can start charting. For me the starting of a new chart is the start of another chance and hopefully better cycle.

Yes, we were thrilled to get PG in the time we did.
No, never figured out the LPD but they never mentioned trying to bc by the time I went to the Dr. for it I was already PG and just didn't know it yet. As I mentioned above though, giving birth changed my cycles for the better in that respect so I hope you get your BFP very soon and the same happens for you!

Jess -
I have high hopes for you getting PG right away after your lap, as I know people who have done just that. Glad you came out of it well.

Tea -
Thanks. :)

Lauren -
I am sorry, I hope labor day weekend brings you lots of good things.

Jenni -
My usual LP is around 9-10 days now and I occasionally get an 11 (when I was PG with my son and I got to 11dpo w/o AF I *knew* something was up bc they were running about 8-9 days then). You are right, it could really be either. Thanks for your input and best of luck to you this month!

SQ2 - Thanks. It's just kind of funny, when I was trying to get PG with my son I would hope every month but be pretty sure it wasn't my month, even the one I was PG. This time it's just like I've been totally convinced of it since early on!

Cat -
Thank you, I rather think so too, esp after today's temp.

FSU -
Hmm...your chart is hard for me to try and interpret. Those days of spotting make me wonder if that could have been either implantation spotting or a very light AF. I hope you get some answers soon!

------------

Ok ladies, I don't really think there's any talking me down anymore. :p
My temp went back up this AM, but I don't think yesterday's temp was actually an implantation dip because.....while I had told myself I was going to wait until at least 10dpo to test, this am at 9dpo I got a super faint 2nd line (that got definitely darker in a couple hrs) and if implantation just happened yesterday I don't think I'd get a + already.
I am not totally ready to call it yet but I'm pretty sure I will be in the next few days.

I can see the faint line fine on my camera but when I put it up on the computer it actually gets harder to see.
So, what do you think?

Robyn-I don't think we can tell anything by your chart, but my temp doesn't drop until AF has arrived. It's different for everyone. I hope you don't have to, but if you chart for a few months, you'll learn your pattern.

Little more sore this morning. The lady down the street asked me to watch her kids for a couple of hours tomorrow while she goes to get her hair done. She didn't know I was having the lap, but I told her yesterday and said I would see how I felt. Yesterday I was thinking I would be able to, but my belly button hurts today and she has a 10 month old. I don't think I could pick her up and I think I was told not to lift anything over 10lbs...

Steve's Sweety I see a line, esp. on the 3rd one! Congrats!

DH and I have decided despite our financial worries to keep on trying. It is quite a roller coaster this journey of TTC. But we are in it and plan to stay in it. (And honestly, I think DH just wants the lots of sex to continue!)

I'm expecting to O in the next day or so. I guess I'm kinda dull as I almost always O on the same day or so each month.

I'm trying to increase the EWCM and so am doing the grapefruit juice and the water thing as well. I'd drink green tea too, but I can't stand the stuff.:D

Well...that's what I'm not exactly sure of.
The faint line came up within the 3 minute window but it was so faint.
I don't know if evap lines are evap lines only when there was no 2nd line to start with, or if they can show up like that.

Jess -
Who me, test more? LOL. You should see all the tests I took with DS.
I didn't get what I considered a BFP with him until I was 15dpo!
The one this am was a Dollar Tree test and I have to go out later so I guess I will just have to pick up some more of them, and I also want to get a digital test for when I'm pretty sure, just FTR, since they had just come out when I got PG last time and were pretty pricey - I think they have come down in price now.

Anyway, I've got to get ready to go to a party at DH's work - I hope I can keep from saying anything because once I feel I can call it, I want to either wait and show him the shirt online and tell him look I want you to see this new shirt I'm getting DS, or wait until the shirt gets here (HAHAHA!) and have it on DS when DH gets home.

Steve's Sweety-Oh this is all so exciting, September seems to be working out well so far!! Congrats on the 2nd line, I see it too

Im wondering something about my chart...this month I O'ed earlier than last month, so do you think that my lutal phase will be the same 11-12 days, or longer? Is it possible for it to change by a few days if you O early?

cat_loverpq
09-01-2006, 10:52 AM
Katie - I don't think the length of your LP is ever supposed to change, regardless of how early you O.

Tish - I can barely see a line in the second picture, but I bet that line gets darker if you test again in the next day or so. ;) Congrats!

berry - I would absolutely KILL for a regular cycle every month! That would not be dull at all, but rather refreshing!

Robyn - My temp usually drops the day after AF arrives.

SQ2 - Are you going to be testing anytime soon? ;)

SQ2

cat_lover Oooo....don't tempt me! ;) You really think I should? I was thinking I should wait until at least 14DPO since that's how long my LP was last cycle. What do you think? How could I be pg? DH is going to think I cheating on him while he was gone. LOL. (j/k). Seriously though, I've been tring to convince myself I'm not, but it's so hard to ignore my consistent elevated temps and the triphasic pattern, not to mention all these FPS I've been having, especially today. Woke up feeling REALLY hot and have continued to feel that way. Even DH said I felt warmer than usual (although my temp was not any different than it has been in the last few days so I don't think I have a fever or anything). I've been super tired and have this weird taste in my mouth and some slight nausea. Ugh. Plus bloating and cramping. I'm driving myself nuts. I can't be pregnant, can I?

Thanks for letting me obsess. ;) :) I swear I feel like I'm driving everyone crazy. Oh well. Better here than IRL life right? :D

katiems118
09-01-2006, 11:03 AM
SQ2- maybe the egg was still good on CD 29 ? That could be contributing to the elevated temps...? Why dont you see what the temp is tomorrow, if its still up then test, if not, then wait and see?

DelSol
09-01-2006, 11:04 AM
katiems118 ~ from looking at your chart and not being an expert, it looks like your temp drops around 11 DPO then AF shows. I would wait to see what your temp does tomorrow and then test on Sunday.

Good Luck testing!

katie I'm hopeful that that's what happened. Wait and see I guess. I'm going to try to hold out until the end of the weekend at least to test. Still trying to convince myself I'm not pg. It's not working very well. ;)

I agree about your chart - the LP shouldn't change that much. I think TCOYF says that if you go 3 days past your normal LP length you are almost certainly pg. See what the temp does tomorrow and possibly test on Sunday like DelSol said. Good luck!

Yay Steves Sweety, thanks for starting this month off right. :) Make sure to post the digital "pregnant" POAS. I had heard that a LPD can go away after a pregnancy, that would be nice. In the meantime though my dr's (now a RE) are trying to help us. My gyno doesn't have a lot of hope for us getting pregnant until they figure out (and treat) why I have a LPD.

I had a temp jump this morning and am hoping that means I ovulated. I'll probably go after my DH tonight just in case. I am SO tired right now, I came home from work early and I think I'm going to take a nap. Good thing I'm not in my 2ww or I'd be sure it was a FPS. ;)

SQ2 - Before I nap I think I'll check out some pregnancy charts on FF to see if any look like yours. :) Maybe you ovulated 2x? It happens, right?

Hi ladies..
I'm back home for a little bit this afternoon and thought I'd check in. Welcome to all the newbies! And a small congrats! to Steve'sSweety! I'm sure that line will be darker in a couple days!
Good luck to everyone else testing or O'ing soon, sorry to those AF found, and good luck to those in hurricane areas.

Nothing new here.. I think I'm on CD6 or 7. (Forgot to bring my chart back home with me.)
I have to head back to where I"m petsitting soon and probably won't be back home until Monday so have a good holiday weekend everyone!

JESS...I see you had your LAP ('cuz boy do I remember all those feelings just a month ago. ) Maybe I missed it but what did they find? Endo??Thanks for the well wishes, ladies!

That will be 16DPO and last cycle my LP was 14 days (the longest it's been since I started charting). Maybe I do have a miracle fetus in there as someone called it before. :D Hehe. But probably not...

pocahontas- Thanks for checking in on me! I remember hearing about yours and thinking, "yeah, I can do that!". They didn't find any endo, but one of my tubes was blocked. She talked to DH about it and I know she talked to me about it but I don't remember much. I think she said it was mucous-y but I don't know if the dye flushed it out or now. I guess I will find out at my 2 week appt. Anyway, she said the next step would be a post-coital test and depending on what that showed IUI, which is apparently the only thing my insurance doesn't pay for. I think we are going to hold off for a few months, though, and see what happens before doing anything else (I SO can't believe I'm saying that!)

Katie- pretty chart! And by 11DPO next month your temp had dropped instead of shot up!

SQ2- I hope it was just too early!

LILRTL- I hope it is an implantation dip!

me- not as sore today. It's kinda nice to be taking the month off and not stressing over every little thing. Weird....

(Cross-posted from SAI)

Well ladies, I am typing this from our hotel in Vegas. I flew over this morning for my cousins wedding this afternoon and will be flying back early tomorrow morning. Very quick trip.

Anyways, I woke up this morning and took a test......and guess what? It was +! I'm still not sure what DPO I am because I started temping vaginally this month and my temps were **WAY** higher than normal. The second line came up right away and is much darker than the one was when I had my miscarriage back in Feb. so I am cautiously optimistic. Of course I still won't beleive it until I get the beta results back, and really until we have the ultrasound and see the heartbeat. I am trying not to get my hopes up beacuse I really don't think I can handle another miscarriage. Oh, and FWIW, this was another unmedicated cycle, but my first cycle back on the metformin. I think that is the trick for us.

Anyway, just wanted to share the news. For those here who have been trying awhile like we have, please don't give up. This was our 15th cycle actively trying, and after the tests and the medication and the doctors visits, I was nearly ready to give up myself. So glad we didn't. :D

Katie -
Thanks.
Hoping tomorrow brings you another high temp and a BFP!

I agree with others who have said your LP should stay the same regardless of when you o. (Mine personally varies more than what it's "supposed" to but it doesn't seem to be related to where in my cycle I o)

SQ2 -
I agree with you maybe not having o'd until cd29.

Lora -
Thanks, and keeping my fingers crossed for you that you see a nice spike back up tomorrow, that's what happened to me. :D

honeygirl -
Thanks.
Well I hope they figure out what is causing your LPD.
I should have mentioned that I was on progesterone the month before I got PG with my son. And I had also started taking a B vitamin (can't recall which one at the moment but I had read that it could help lengthen your LP).
Have they had you try progesterone supps at all yet or have you considered trying natural progesterone cream?

ABirney -
Thanks!

jjsanner -
Congrats and sticky vibes coming your way!

Ok, well my temp was still up and the faint line was just a tad darker when I took a test this AM, so I told DH and decided to call it. :D We are so excited!

Congratulations jjsanner! Happy & Health 9 Months! We're planning a trip to Las Vegas, just need to decide on the date we want to go.

Katie ~ your chart looks good!

Good Luck to everyone testing this weekend. I hope we get some more BFPs.

Sorry to those who have AF showing.

Me ~ CD 10, couple more days and we can start BDing. I've been trying to get on for an hour or so. Whenever we get rain our connection gets funky. I told DH we have 4 days of BDing ahead of us. I plan on BDing from CD14 - CD17, which should cover me for my O day, the day before and the day after. Of course this is if I O on either CD 15 or CD 16, I should I have my bases covered. I went to Happy Hour on Thursday night and one of the ladies heard we are TTCing and said oh my DH just has to look at me and I got PG. So she's like you'll get PG when you are least expecting it. I had laugh and say that might be true but I'm still gonna plan it out and hope we are successful this upcoming month.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Steve's Sweety - Congrats again, now that it's official. :) Yes, I'm taking progesterone, this is my 5th cycle on suppositories. I'm taking 100mg a day right now.

one of the ladies heard we are TTCing and said oh my DH just has to look at me and I got PG.
DelSol, got to roll your eyes at that one! If only it was that easy we'd ALL be pregnant by now. Oh well, I had the dreaded "just relax" from a good friend this last week also. They mean well....

FSUSammy - Darn it, I'm sorry to see that you appear to be having an annovulatory cycle. When is the last time you had one of those? Maybe it was all the stress from the hurricane?

Jess71903 - Glad to hear that you are recovering well! Enjoy your month off. Does that mean no temping? I think that would be nice. :) I'd like to stop temping once I know I've O'd, but it is SO hard not to know.

Good morning ladies. I am happy to announce that I ovulated, let the 2ww obsessing begin! Please move me to I O'd, testing 9/14.

Last night we went to Borders (they have some good coupons through the 4th including 30%, 3 for 2, etc) and I spent far too much time in the baby section. :o I did some "research" on baby books, pregnancy journals, etc. Didn't buy anything though. I saw a book with great photos of life beginning, starting with the sperm and the egg, ect. I will admit that I was hoping that it was happening in me right then! I'm in the part of the cycle where I can start imagining and hoping that we're pregnant. KWIM? I've got to try to keep it to a minimum though, b/c it is such a disappointment when AF shows. I know that you ladies hear me on this!

BTW - FF says I o'd on CD21 and Ovusoft on CD22, I tend to believe ovusoft but what do you think? Am I 3 or 4dpo?

Hello! :). I've been TTA for over 3 years, and now, for the second time, I find myself in an unexpected 2WW  . DH & I were skinny dipping after a few (or more) drinks last week and, well... ;) I knew my CD was around my normal O, but I had next-to-no CM when it's usually flowing. Yes, there were fertile qualities to it, so I can't plead complete innocence, but I really thought it was going to be another annov or delayed-O.

The first oops was last fall and I had an early m/c. DH has been ready for about a year, but I've wanted to wait until I've accomplished certain things in my career. It will be much easier for me to WAH part time, which is important to me. I admit, I was excited by the first pg & very upset when we lost it, and here I am, excited all over again!

DelSol I thought if your temps don't stay way up (especially with a triphasic pattern) you're probably not pg? I guess I shouldn't give up until AF shows, or maybe I'm just mentally moving on to the next cycle and will be pleasantly surprised if I'm wrong. ;) Ah, mind games, mind games...

Ah, mind games, mind games...

I love this! I am still playing mind games with myself. Day 6 of spotting! (ugh) AF due today - temp dropped as well - and I am still trying to tell myself that maybe there's still some chance .... ha, yeah right!

katiems - from the admittedly small amount I know about charts - yours looks great!

SQ2 - don't give up until you see red! - ha, see what I posted about myself above ;)

I make myself even crazier b/c a friend of mine (now 6 mos pg w/twins!) thought she had her period - turns out she didn't and didn't find out she was pg till 8 weeks! So, I keep thinking there's a shot no matter what - even though I know AF is right around the corner.

Welcome jokerkitty, the last lady that joined us in her 2ww got a BFP. :)

SQ2 and RobynScott- I completely understand (mind games) and do the same thing during (and sometimes after) my 2ww. I think we just want to be pregnant SO badly that our minds are willing to imagine almost anything.

Besides obsessing over CC - I am at work. You'd think I'd get off of here and just try to get my work done so I could get out of here - but oh no, why would I want to do that for myself :)

also waiting for AF to arrive - I've been spotting for 6 days now! (today is CD 29) - she should be here today. Temp dropped this morning - come on already and get here so I can get rid of this false hope! I know you're coming - just get here so I can lose the bloat and move on!

so, that's what I am doing :) hope everyone else has a RELAXING Sunday!

Usually it's the opposite. I keep going to the bathroom, thinking AF will be here any second. Actually think I might be seeing some spotting, but it's very faint, and then it goes away for awhile before coming back. So weird. Well, AF has definitely arrived. :( But, I'm ok with it because I knew we didn't really have much of a chance this cycle because of our poorly timed BD. Plus I just wanted to get on with it and not wonder anymore whether or not I was pg. I think I might have actually O'd a day or two earlier than my charts say I did. My last LP phase was 14 days and this one was only 12. On CD20 I was traveling overnight so didn't get to temp and then the next morning's temp was probably a bit messed up from the time change. My CM pattern seems to suggest it anyways. I'm just excited to get started with this next cycle, especially since it seems like my cycles are getting shorter. I feel like this will be our first legitimate cycle at TTC since DH's boys will actually have a chance. LOL. ;) And hey, now that AF is here, it's that much sooner we can start trying again! :D

Please move me to waiting to O. Thanks.

I'm so sorry to all of you the witch found. It seems to be happening in bunches.

Cosmogirl, I've O'd as late as 2 days after Peak Day. I think TCOYF says +/- 2 days on either side is typical.

I much calmer about this 2ww today. I hope I stay this way, at least until I know implantation is a possibility (yeah, right). Right now I'm noticing what might be considered a symptom after implantation & think to myself, "hmmm, if this were next week, I'd think this stomach twinge/heightened sense of smell/backache was a symptom. I know it's not now, but if this happens next week, what exactly would be causing it?"

ETA: SQ2, I never thought to look at my LP temp patterns before I got pg the first time. Looking back, I had several picture-perfect tri-phasic charts, including my pg chart, and the 3 directly following the m/c. It really does mess with the head. :(

jokerkitty ~ welcome!

SQ2 ~ I'm not familiar with a triphasic pattern, I'll have to read up on it. I was on the TTC emotional roller coaster last month and it was our 1st cycle of trying. I'm going to try and be better this month. Sorry AF showed.

honeygirl ~ I've slept in the whole weekend, catching up on my missing sleep. Plans - not much, I should put my bathroom together but every time I want to DH is sleeping. I might go shopping later on and catch up on my soaps.

katiems118 ~ sorry AF is on her way. That happened to me last month, my chart was looking good and then temp dive.

jokerkitty ~ I forgot to say WELCOME! :D

DelSol ~ Here's what TCOYF says about triphasic temp patterns: ... triphasic pattern of temperatures is virtually always caused by a pregnancy. It is thought to be the result of additional progesterone circulating in the woman's body and increases about the time of implantation...My professional experience is that this triphasic pattern seems to occur in most pregnant women who chart... I think that's on pg 317. Anyways, so a bit too hopeful. I think FF has a more neutral stance on triphasic charts.

Hi all,

Another one with another temp dive this morning. Af was due yesterday - I've been spotting for 6 days - I was actually happy I am temping b/c the temo dive kept me from getting my hopes up at the lack of AF. I suspect she will be here in full force by the end of the day. I am really bothered by the 6 days of spotting though - going to call the Dr. tomorrow and see if I can make an appt. - knowing them, it will probably take months to get in!

sorry for no SO's right now - as usual, supposed to be working. It's beautiful out and I just want to be out - or at least enjoying the labor day sales! - so going to try and finish off this thing I am trying to write.

ETA - please move me to waiting to O. I think this is CD1.

Hi ladies.. hope everyone had a great Labor Day!
Congrats jjsanner!!! sticky vibes to you.
Welcome jokerkitty.
I just got back from petsitting so behind on the thread.. but sorry to those AF found and good luck to those testing soon.

CD10 here, so boring. According to the predictor thing on Ovusoft, I should O middle of next week.... we are on vacation next week so hopefully lots of BD'ing! (Have to keep warm in the tent you know... ;) ) That is, IF we get to go camping. (Depends on if SIL has her baby yet! She's probably getting her membranes stripped on Wednesday. Invited me to the appt... I"m going to be in the delivery room with her.)

Wow you ladies have been so busy the last few days!!

Congrats jjsanner & Steve's Sweety!!! Wishing you both a very happy and healthy 9 months.

I'm on CD24 and it looks like an annovulatory cycle again for me :( I had 3 days of high temps then it droppped down for 4 days and now is back up again. Cramps are extremely severe for the last 5 days (really ruined my long weekend :() so I can't wait for AF to arrive :( I am so disappointed, I really thought this was our month but I've had my private pity party and am ready to move on :p

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day!!

Congrats jjsanner and Steve'sSweety!!!! I just knew we were in for good start this month :D

Welcome to jokerkitty and cosmogirl May your stays be short, but sweet.

Me? I am going to go nuts this cycle.

My Chart (http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/128004)

I am 14 dpo. My longest LP to date is 12 days.

Last night my HPT was a BFN and my temps are taking a slow downward slide. My only hope right now is that I should have tested with FMU but got impatient after coming back from vacation. If my temps are still above the coverline tomorrow morning, I guess I'll test again. But I don't have a single symptom in sight to make me actually believe something good could come out of this :( Bleh!

Here's hoping for a lot more good news and positive energy in September! :)

Yeah, they are more neutral about this.
Again, I had the perfect trphasic chart last month, and I'm still here:p But I have to admit that in the cycle that I got preggo with my son, I also had a triphasic chart.:D

RP from SWH:

Hey ladies. No time for S/O's this morning. I'm on D 42 still no AF. My spotting has stopped. I'm still cramping like crazy and just waiting for AF to show up. I'm definitely having an annovulatory cycle. Not sure if AF will just show up or if my body will try to O.

So, I couldn't stand it. I tested today on 9 DPO - BFN. BUT. My temp took a big dive. It's waaaaaay too early for AF. She usually shows around 14-16 DPO. So maybe THIS could be implantation? I dunno.

CD29 here and a nice high temp this morning. I'm really hoping that means I have Oed but we broke out the heavy comforter last night so that could be the reason for the rise as well.

I'm not expecting to have a chance to post in here again for at least another week. Hopefully work will slow down a bit in another couple of weeks.

Good luck to everyone.

I'm getting cautiously excited about my chart this month. The longest LP I've had since starting to chart is 12 days, and today is day 14. Yesterday I went to the bathroom a hundred times to assure myself I wasn't bleeding yet and today will probably be the same. My temp this morning was 98.2 which is definitely a post-O temp for me, and usually my temp drops below 98 the day AF arrives. Sooo...if I don't get AF at work today I'm stopping at Target to get some tests. Still, I have been spotting, and it could just be that my cycle is normalizing after all those years on BC.
