Hello and welcome to our new thread. In just a few short weeks our little ones will begin celebrating their first birthdays! We've all learned a lot this past year. Our little ones went from being newborns to being able to sit on their own, crawl, and walk.

The coolest thing happened with Shylah! Last night when I went up to bed, I found her standing in her crib. I thought I was in for a long night, but when I went to put her back down, her diaper was dry. I took her into the bathroom to potty, and she went! :D It took us about 20 minutes to get her back down. Then when I got her this morning, I check her diaper and it was dry! I put her on the potty, and she went again! Yay! I hope tis pattern continues!

Thanks for setting up the new thread, Naamah!
Woo-Hoo!! Congrats on a healthy baby boy, Julie!! That's so cool that they are going to be so close in age. They'll always have each other to play with. Any names yet?

Ooooh…I like them all! I saw in the May/June thread that the Ped thinks Collin may have asthma? I’m sorry to hear that. The Ped diagnosed Caroline with infection-induced asthma back in April or May. Tell Collin this is one thing he doesn’t have to do to have more in common with Caroline. He is a perfectly fine suitor, as is. ;)

How did the ped come up with that diagnosis, Liz? I'm so stressed out right now b/c we don't really know what's wrong. He's been sick off and on for a month with difficulty breathing and a nasty cough. He's having a chest x-ray this afternoon. :( My poor baby is on the nebulizer, singulair and a steroid. Does Caroline have asthma attacks when she's sick?
I'll certainly tell Collin , Caroline doesn't expect him to share her respiratory distress. ;)

Every time she comes down with a cold, it goes straight to her chest. She'll start wheezing and coughing really badly. I have asthma myself, so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The "good" thing is, it only acts up when she's got a cold. When she's healthy, she is as healthy as an ox. When she does come down with a cold, we have to be real careful and listen for any wheezing. As soon as she shows a sign of it, they put her on a nebulizer combination of albuterol and pulmocort. Her Ped threw out the idea of starting her on Singulair if she didn't show improvement (we were suspecting it may be allergy related, but that doesn't seem to be the case).
I felt horrible when the Ped made the diagnosis. I hold myself accountable for passing it along to her. I know many Dr.'s hesitate to diagnose asthma before age 3, so try not to be too alarmed at this point. It's probably just a lingering cold that has gone to his chest and he just can't kick. And trust me, they can last a while. This last bout we had, the Ped had us keep C on the nebulizer for an entire month!

Yeah, Alexa's going to be the death of me too. She stands on the glider and rocks then laughs maniacally when I try to grab her, she crawls from the couch to the end tables and stands up on them  and she taught herself to climb downstairs FAST! She's also become a little too confident around the pool and that has me totally freaked. She's a good kid overall but I'm just amazed with some of the stuff that she does. She has no fear and I wish she did. :o
Ooops! Okay, editing to say "Nice job on the thread, Naamah!"

Thanks everyone. We found out a few hours after we arrived at the hospital that my mom didn't have a massive stroke but actually an aneurysm that burst (turned out that she actually had two but only one burst). They removed her from the vent and are lightening up the sedation. I thank my lucky stars (and have been since it happened on Saturday evening) that we were in the room when it happened. Otherwise she wouldn't be here now and we would be dealing with a totally different situation.
I have a few questions for the doctor (one is if mom will be more at risk for future ones and if her sister or I am at an increased risk of having them as well. My grandma had a stomach aneurysm but it never burst or caused problems. I found some risk factors and depending upon what they classify as head injury and familly history I could be at risk. Not to mention my history of headaches. DH's mom passed away from an aneurysm 16 years ago so he's wondering the same thing.).
We aren't totally out of the woods just yet (have another hurdle to cross this weekend) but things are definitely better than they were early, early Sunday morning.
Liz and Julie ~ We were told that DD could be at risk for having asmtha at one of her earlier appts. They just told us that they would keep a close eye on it as she got older. We were also told that she'll probably have allergies but I already expected that. I have them as do both of my parents.
Naamah ~ you aren't the only one who has a dare devil. I have one as well and she isn't afraid of anything! Not sure that is totally a good thing or not. Thanks for setting up the new thread. Did you have the other one closed? If not, just send a mod a link to the thread asking to have it closed.
I still will be in and out and probably not posting much for a while.

Sophia ~ Sorry but I can't take credit for this one. It was all Naamah. I've had other things come up and couldn't get it done. See my other post early Sunday morning as to what happened. I wouldn't wish what happened on my worst enemy. I hope none of you ever have to go through that. It was the worst feeling in my life (first my mom and then me).

Naamah: Count us in on the daredevil baby! He climbs and stands on the seats of his ride on toys and he figured out how to climb up in to the glider. Shocking!:D
Meri: I hope your mom is on the way to a full recovery. Take care of yourself.
Sophia: The pool would freak me out, too!
Liz: How scary. You can't blame yourself. Kids are going to have difficulties, regardless. How sad is it that I'm hoping for an asthma diagnosis, b/c I'd much prefer that to cystic fibrosis. :( Of course, that's a worse case scenerio, but we're pretty freaked out right now.

Naamah: thanks for the thread. Isn't it amazing how much they like to climb?? Why did we bother buying baby-safe toys?
Meri: So glad to hear things are looking better.
Sophia: I am nervous around pools, too, but at least you know Alexa won't have a fear of swimming!
Liz: Hey, no guilt allowed over genetics! DD doesn't have my hair color, but what can I do about it? I know Caroline got a lot more of your "good traits" than otherwise so she's way ahead anyway!
Julie: Congrats!!! I really like the name Reid, but all on your list were good and fit very nicely with Collin. It's so neat that the two little guys will be so close in age. Best buds, I'm sure. Sorry about Collin and the asthma. Maybe the Singulair will help get things under control-I've seen it work wonders for the right people.

I have been busy working full-time again and missing Dougie. :( We have had such stupid meeting and no time in the classroom, plus our #'s are down so we might have to get ride of teachers. We are on a army base and a bunch of families are supposed to move in october to the base, but I am not sure they will keep us all until then. I am not to worried since I have a signed contract and they have to pay me even if I don't have my own classroom.
I need to catch up, but I also need to plan lessons! Since it's the beginning of the school year I should probable do the lessons.

Naamah ~ I'm doing good as long as I don't stress myself out. I've been trying to keep calm but that isn't always easy given everything that is going on. Yes, I did have some contractions and high blood pressure after they told us late Saturday/early Sunday about my mom.
Julie, kelsey, Roseanne, ally ~ Thanks.

Maggie: The more I think about how close in age they'll be the more excited I get. I really hope they have fun together growing up. ;)
Ferris: Yikes about the low numbers! We had that problem, my second year of teaching. Luckily, the numbers went up fast enough that we didn't need to change anything. Have fun doing lesson plans! :D
Well, we had another visit to the ped yesterday and it turns out, Collin has a mild case of pneumonia.:( We now added an antibiotic to the mix. I hope we can kick this out of him. I feel so bad for him. He's so whiny and clingy and the coughing! Ugghhh. He finally got a good night's sleep last night. Of course, I have pg insomnia and didn't sleep anyway. Geesh.

jmvan74 Sorry to hear that Collin has pneumonia! No wonder why he's been a cranky little guy! Yuck about pregnancy insomnia! I totally forgot about that!!
Still at second grade Luckly our numbers at second were good and I get to stay. Fourth is all messed up and has 2 split classes. 1 first grade teacher is going to be our sub until the influx of new families move.
Usawife I taught last year on post too, but this year is my first full-time year. Working on post is like living in another country, it's a world of it's own. Does your DH like the Air Force better than the Army?

Count Caroline in, too. She climbs on everything!! It doesn't matter to her how many times she falls and scrapes herself up either. She's right back climbing up on whatever she just fell off of. The little monkey...
Julie,
Poor Collin!! Hopefully the antibiotics will clear things up and he'll be back to his normal, charming self.
Ugh....late night. All weekend long I've had a terrible dry cough at night. Only when I lie down to sleep. It has me up most the night. I finally fall asleep around 1:30 last night when caroline decides to wake up. Keith takes the first several wake ups, knowing that I've just fallen asleep. At 3:30, she wakes up for good. I'm still having difficulty sleeping so I get up with her. Try milk...nope. Change diaper...just wet. I sit with her and rock her for about a half hour. Nothing. I finally decide to give her some Motrin. She falls asleep at 4:45. My alarm goes off at 5:15. Yeah...I didn't go in to work today.

Collin is doing better. We go back to the ped on Thursday. He's only on the nebulizer and singulair, now. Hopefully, we can wean him of the neb soon. Luckily, he's been in better spirits, which makes all the difference for me. :)

Just found this new thread and am popping in to subscribe & drop off Thomas' 15 month WBV stats:
Height: 32"
Weight: 24.6lbs
I can't believe how much weight he has lost since learning to walk (RUN). I would have sworn he was 30lbs just a couple weeks ago! He's looking so long and lean these days....well I guess that does make sense since he's over 90% in height! lol

Naamah: You have got to be the most motivated person I've ever met (virtually or IRL)! I hope Shylah gets those teeth soon! Collin is in the process of popping up, molar #4 in addition to all the illness he's had!
Kim: I was just commenting on how lean Collin was looking. DH and I were both pretty scrawny kids, so I suspect Collin will be the same. He weighed 23.13lbs at his last sick visit. I'm not sure how tall he is though. It's amazing how they thin out once they become running mainiacs!

Yay! Lots of “new” friends. I’ve added all of you. I’m journaling over there now full time. If anyone else wants to be added, I’m lizandkeith over there.
Teething
I’m right there with you Naamah. We gave her a dose of Motrin before bed last night and that seemed to do the trick as she slept through the night. It looks like it’s the lateral incisors that are the culprit. I can see them right under the gum.
Sinuses
Count me in, too. Despite being on Zyrtec and Nasonex daily, I managed to come down with a sinus infection, which explains my nighttime cough. Dr. put me on a round of antibiotics. Ugh. I feel like I’m always sick!

Naamah ~ Sorry to hear about the teething. Hope those teeth came through! We are big believers in the motrin/tylenol before bed.
Julie ~ Glad to hear Collin is feeling better. I've heard those molars can be killers.
Ferris ~ Hope you have a good first day!
Liz ~ Ugh, sorry to hear about the sinus infection. Hope you are feeling better soon.

wow, lots of folks using LJ these days. I created an account ages ago (same screen name) but have never used it. I like the concept but some days/weeks it is hard enough to check in here....i need more time in the day. The slower pace around here might motivate me to go check it out though.
We got DS's haircut this past weekend. It was his first professional haircut. We went to a kids cuts place which had plenty of things to attempt to distract DS but they only worked momentarily. In hindsight I think it would have gone better if we had sat and gotten accustommed to the place before rushing him into a seat where some strange lady started grabbing his head.
DS was a crab to start with before the haircut from teething pain too...we have been waiting for 6 weeks for his 6th tooth to pop through but its just taunting me. I can see a bump for one of the molars now too. I've heard that Motrin works better for teething pain though we haven't had it too bad yet to fully test out that theory.
We've been dealing with stuffiness around here too. DH believes he's getting hit by allergies. Unfortunately, that may be the case for DS as well. I'm not sure what would be worse for DS...a cold or allergies. Seems to bother him most at night.
Hope everyone had a good long weekend.

Hey all. Alexa got her 4th molar in on Saturday giving her a total of 12 teeth! She thinks it's hysterical to bite my fingers and let me tell you, her teeth are sharp! Goofy kid. ;)
Alexa's new favorite mealtime pose is slouched with one leg on the table. Not sure where she learned that since DH and I gave up eating with our feet long ago ;) but she demonstrated it very well in front of all the relatives on Labor Day! Yeah, everyone had a field day asking about who was teaching her table manners. I just tried posting her demonstration photo but I guess Snapfish still doesn't translate over here. I might have to switch to Photobucket but I'm being lazy right now. :p
Okay, based on the posts over here, I might have to cave and get an LJ account. I do miss some of the journals (ahem, Liz!) so as much as I hate spreading myself too thin over the internet, I might just have to take the time to figure out LJ. ~sigh~

Sophia: Collin's 4th molar popped through the other day, too, for a total of 12 teeth. I know what you mean about Sharp! Yikes. I agree with Sophia that the postings over here have slacked off. Maybe it's just me, but I find LJ hard to use, plus I only seem to get notices about comment replies instead of general journal entries... so I always seem to be behind over there too :( .

What is it with "J" name boys! It seems like every year I have a boy who's a little snot with a name that begins with "J". Today "J" told a girl in the lunch line that "he had balls which where his privates and was going to hit her with them" OMG he's only 7! I gave him the teacher look so many times already today. I should have know he was a handful yesterday when his mom said "oh you actually get to sit in a group and not by yourself this year." Let's hope I can get him on the right track.
Everything else went pretty good. I had the talkers, the complainers and the ones that did everything to please. I just need to make sure to stick to my guns the first few weeks so no one takes advantage.
He looked bigger! I know this will sound stupid, but Douglas looked so much bigger then I got home today!

Ferris~OMGosh! You've got quite a handful there with J, don't you?
Shylah was in a really good mood yesterday. We gave her Tylenol last night in hopes she would get a good night's sleep and have another good day. So not the case! She woke up so far off the wrong side of the bed she was in the next county. :( This morning has been one big ticked off fit! I'm hoping her attitude/pain improves because I'm not sure I can handle a full day of this!

Sophia,
I didn’t realize you were such a faithful follower. I’m right there with you, I hated LJ at first. It’s a completely different structure than WC and CC are and it’s taking some getting used to. But, I really like the privacy option and like Julie pointed out, it’s so nice to click on your Friends Page and see all the posts of all your friends. It makes it really easy to keep up. That’s too funny about Alexa!! All ready for High tea at the Plaza. ;)
Maggie,
Do you have a Snip Its near you? They specialize in kids haircuts.
Ferris,
Unbelievable!! A freakin’ 7 year old?! Great parents he’s got there.
Naamah,
Poor Shylah! She must really have it rough to be this out of sorts. It's not like her at all. Hopefully that tooth pops through soon so you can all get some rest.
Haircut
We’ve trimmed her bangs once around her birthday. She is about due again. We’re letting the rest of her hair grow out though. It’s getting sooooo long in the back. No, my daughter does not have a mullet! I keep meaning to buy the rubber bands that Nat posted about so I can try out pigtails and ponytails.
Teeth
Holy Moses! I can’t get over how many teeth some of your youngins have!! We’re holding steady at 4, though it looks like she’s cutting her upper left incisor.

No he's not! He's doing the same things everyone else is doing, except not walking. Which I'm sure will come any day. He makes up for it with rapidly growing locks. Three haircuts already?! Wow!!
On the subject of tantrums...boy, are we really starting to have them. Caroline does this horrible series of short, loud shrieks when she wants something (to be picked up, her snack, you name it) that can only be equated to dolphins or Mariah Carey. It is enough to bring you to your knees.

Ferris ~ DH likes the AF better. Though he did like his tour in Germany.
Haircuts ~ DD's hair has never been cut or even trimmed yet. It's not really long enough for it yet. Guess she is taking after me since my hair was so light that it always looked like I didn't have any hair on my head.
Teeth ~ DD has 6 (same she had a year old). DH thought he saw another one but I tried to feel in her mouth (it's not easy because she doesn't allow that to happen) but I didn't feel any new teeth.
Tantrums ~ DD sort of does a combination of what Thomas does but she'll hit, scream, and sometimes bit. We were walking around the hospital this past weekend and as long as we were going in the direction she wanted to things were fine. If we ventured off course then here came the screams, and then she'd throw herself on the floor and refuse to walk. Not real fun while being in the hospital and having people look at us like we were doing something to cause the problem (which we weren't).
LJ ~ I'm on there as well but don't always have the time to update my journal as often as I should (and less time now). PM me if you'd like me to friend you. I think I have some of you on my friends list but I'm not sure.
Update ~ Mom's off the vent!!!! It happened yesterday so now we don't have to put up with it anymore. Finally I had began to think that day would never happen. Her throat and voice are raspy. I have a website set up and if any of you would like to visit it, please PM me.
We have our big u/s scheduled for two wks. We shall see if the little one works with us. I was a little surprised that it was scheduled so late. We found out with DD at a little over 17 wks. I thought at the time that it was too early to find out but it wasn't. We had it done on the same day as they drew the blood for the triple screen. So I was expecting the same schedule this time but they did the blood test (actually the quad screen this time) and then if something showed up they would know what they were looking for something on the level II u/s.

Meri: Glad to hear your mom is off the vent. As for seeing or feeling for teeth, I find that if I put DS upside down he'll start giggling and open his mouth nice and wide. It gives me a great look at his upper gums.
Haircut: I'd love to post pictures, but its that extra step of uploading to snapfish or whoever that keeps me from posting pictures more...I sure take enough of them (I'm obsessed with taking pictures). I do have some good ones of the haircut though.
If DS was a girl, I probably would have foregone the professional haircut and just trimmed his bangs. But it was getting long and he did have a mullet! Granted, the way DS enjoys playing with our hockey sticks he might be destined for the NHL someday, but we don't need him to give him a head start on the NHL hairstyle of choice quite this early ;)
Tantrums: Brady does child's pose when he is throwing a tantrum too...though he is usually screaming into the ground when he does it.

Haircut: I can't bring myself to do it. :o The back is fine, but there are a couple of weird long pieces in the front, which actually look fine as long as they're brushed to the side. The secret is out....I'm preggers! :D
You may have noticed me being MIA, because I have been very sick. I'm now on some good meds and almost back in the game. We're due 4/18 and have already seen the little bean dancing and heard that wonderful heartbeat. very exciting!
Well, just wanted to share my news with my ladies. ;) Off to lay on the couch...

Lol!
I am feeling girl....just a gut feeling, though I had the same with Thomas and was right.
I was sick with Thomas, but NO WHERE near as bad. More tired than ill with him.
May I suggest BCP, condoms with Spermicide and The Sponge? If *I* can get pg on the 1st try, than this is one fertile place to be. ;) So Look out!
More RO's
I'd bet there are some more April mamas around, since I'm not done my 1st triemester yet and I would have waited to tell til then if I wasn't so sick. Soooo.....all you secret-kepeers out there, we'll see you soon! ;)

Congrats Kim!
I've been MIA too (no I'm not pregnant!) Addie has been sick basically for the past 12 days. In that time we've been to the ER once (in the middle of the night), ped once, and minor emergency clinic(on the weekend) once. I think she's finally starting to get better. It's been a loooooong 12 days! We know she has strep, but she's been on amoxicillian for 5 days and is still having high (103+) fevers. No one can figure it out. So far she has only had 100.5 today so I'm hoping she's going to be better soon!

TTC #2~Our original plan was to start trying January 2007, but due to financial reasons, we decided to postpone that. Well, just last night DH was getting all mushy wanting to have another, so we may be back on for Jan 07!!

Kim,
I'm getting Girl vibes, too. It's my theory that if you are going to have m/s, it's worse with a girl. I think Sophia and Naamah can attest to that as well.
Nat,
Poor Addie! Perhaps she's got a viral infection as well? Seems odd that after 5 days she's still running a fever. Poor little lamb...I hope she feels better soon.
Naamah,
Yay for January! You can't postpone it...we already planned to be TTC buddies. ;)

As for the m/s I felt crappy with Collin, but feel great with the second boy. Maybe my body adjusted to being pg with sons!
I made the mistake of giving Collin some fruity cheerios and now he won't eat the plain ones. I tried mixing them and he picks out the fruity ones and leaves the plain ones there. Silly boy.:p

UPDATE:
So we finally found the source of Addie's high fevers this weekend. She broke out in a rash yesterday morning so I took her back to the dr (4th time this month) and she has roseola! She feels fine and isn't contagious anymore. I'm just so glad to know what was causing those fevers!
Check out her rash:
http://www.dropshots.com/photos/103526/20060913/r90_095231.jpg
and just because it's so cute, while you're there watch the video of Addie saying 'no' (http://www.dropshots.com/natandkeri)-it's the fourth one down on the page.
trying for #2 We're currently on the don't try, don't prevent plan. DH is really ready to try, but with Addie being sick lately, 'trying' has been the last thing on my mind!

Kim: I'm also getting girl vibes. I so remember the days of thinking I'd never eat lettuce again. Glad to hear your med regiment is allowing you to function. It's got to be soo much harder the second time around with a little one to watch!
Natalie: Sorry to hear about the roseola, but at least you have an answer to the fevers! I don't remember the rash itching much; is she uncomfortable?
Naamah: Okay, I also thought cervical mucus, which did go along with the TTC, but I just wasn't sure how it was a business :o
Julie: so funny about the Cheerios. It's amazing how quickly they pick on stuff like that, isn't it?
DD's been feeling okay, but DH and I have both been sick. We went to Atlanta this weekend and felt fine until Sunday night. Maybe something we ate, though we can't think of anything we both ate. Anyway, I haven't been this sick since 1st trimester. DH recovered yesterday and I'm finally feeling semi-normal today. NOT fun, but at least DD seems to have been spared. Probably because her appetite was non-existant the entire weekend, such a blessing in disguise.

No, I don't have a c-section scheduled and we're not sure if we are going to schedule one. ~sigh~ We'll see what the future holds. I'm honestly just trying to get through today and then i'll deal with tomorrow. My "sore like I did 1000 squats" pain started up yesterday. I don't remember it starting this early with the last pregnancy. I KNOW that I didn't have to deal with nausea and the "squats" pain at the same time with the last pregnancy so one or the other is definitely off schedule. Swell, I bet this means the carpal tunnel will kick in soon too. Life just gets better every day!

Nat,
I’m so glad you finally found the cause of the fever. When you said she had been on antibiotics for 5 days and was still running fever, I knew there had to be another culprit. How is she doing with it? Did it seem bothersome? Poor little thing! I’m glad to hear she’s feeling better.

Geez, guess I'm out of the loop in this thread. Seems a lot has been happening.
Kim ~ Congratulations on baby #2!!! I had severe morning sickness with both pregnancies (and what time I was pregnant with baby #2 I was sick as well). I think this one was harder on me because of having to take care of DD. I just couldn't be in the bathroom all day and all night like I was when I was pregnant with her. Makes things really hard. I had to take meds again and it's still present to some degree even now at 19 wks. Guess I'm not one of the lucky ones who isn't sick during pregnancy. I really wish I was (I heard it from my mom during my first pregnancy until she saw me and realized just how sick I was and that I wasn't making it up. A lot of people figured out that it wasn't just some excuse we used when we didn't want to do something.) though.
Liz ~ Originally Posted by LIZNKEITH

Did you forget about Saathei and me as those who were sick as well?
Nat ~ Sorry to hear about Addie's illness.
sophia ~ Is your OB going to let you go into labor on your own and then do a c-section? That's sort of the road that we'd like to go down but I'm sure I can talk my OB into it. We don't like picking the day for our child's birthday and would rather them pick it. I'd wanted to do a VBAC but I keep getting the runaround from the office (want me to send/fax my records before we can even talk with the doctor....DH and I would like to meet with them first, see if we like them/feel comfortable, etc. I'm not too keen on faxing my records either), it's an hour away (not sure I want to drive an hour away while I'm in labor, and now with my mom's ruptured aneurysm I'm not sure we want to chance me having the same thing (granted my risk of actually having one could be slim but why take the chance...I've looked at the risk factors and I have a few of them...family history, took BCPs, had/have severe headaches, hit my head on a dresser a few years that caused seizures to develop).
I hope you don't get the carpal tunnel this time. I've already got it and it's only getting worse with each passing day. I swear that I'm going to have the surgery after this little one is born. I just can't take it any longer. It was bad enough before I got pregnant and now it's only gotten worse. I'm now having to wear my wrist splints pretty much round the clock or my wrists hurt so bad I can't stand it. Oh the joys we go through to have these wonderful children. ;) (Wouldn't change it really though)
If anyone wants to take a guess at guessing the gender of this little one feel free to stop by the Feb 07 thread and take a look at my belly shots. I just posted one today and the others are in my ID on the front page. We go next wk for the big u/s. DH thinks it's a boy. I'm not sure yet other than it's a baby. ;)
kelseyledare

Meri ~ Cute photo! Sorry your carpal tunnel is getting worse, sounds miserable. I'm going to go with girl, I think, from your belly shot. But it is not a definite, since I don't like to discard a DH's guess.
I'm also agreeing with Liz on Sophia's girl. Have we seen any recent Alexa photos, speaking of?
Well, we are almost back to normal. My appetite still isn't back, but at least we're functioning. I saw the stuff on the news about the contaminated spinach and thought- hmmm.

Kim ~ I only wish I was sick for 14 wks. Mine appearently doesn't know when wk 14 appears because it's still here, in force, and doesn't appear to be leaving anytime soon.
Maggie ~ Thanks. DH is so sure it's a boy. I haven't decided. Of course he thinks he's right this time as well since he correctly predicted DD would be a girl the day we found out we were expecting. Of course he also tried to convince me it was twins too. I just kept telling him he better hope it wasn't. Not that I wouldn't be greatful but it just seems like so much more work. He hasn't mentioned it with this pregnancy though so maybe he learned his lesson the first time around. He didn't get to tease me much with the second pregnancy. I still hope that they don't tell us we've got two at the u/s next wk. I don't know what I'd do then but pull my hair out.

I think it is safe to say that we can declare that Aiden is
WALKING!!!!
He let go today and took 3 steps and instead of falling he SAT DOWN!! He then walked all the way from one end of the couch to another to one of his fav things--the vacuum. Probably about 5-6 steps and he did it 4 times. We ae excited and I hope this means he is on the move!!
Of course he woke up with a slight fever today of 100.2. My kid ALWAYS gets a fever from shots. But he is in a good mood

Well, Alexa finally fell in the pool this past weekend. We almost made it through the summer without incident but she broke the streak. Sunday was a lovely day in Jersey. DH was in the house putzing around and Alexa and I were by the pool. She had the pool skimmer and started dipping into the pool by the steps. I was sitting on a chair a few feet away but once she started dipping in the pool (and wouldn't listen to my "NO") I got nervous and rolled my butt and belly to the steps and sat down next to her. She continued on for a while under she pooped in her swim diaper. I yelled to DH to get me a diaper and some wipes and then changed her. I told DH I would take the diaper inside and to stay with her. I was just coming out the back door and saw Alexa dipping the skimmer in the pool again and saw DH sitting in a chair about 6 feet away from Alexa and I'm thinking "Oh Lordy, this can't be good" and just then Alexa tumbled head first into the pool. The water at the steps is only a couple of feet deep but Alexa was freaked out as was DH. He had leapt up immediately and grabbed her but she was still screaming bloody murder. I calmly grabbed a towel from the pile inside and went to calm her down. I toweled her off, took her clothes off (including the fresh new diaper  ) and then we took her upstairs for a bath. She was fine and was even playing by the pool a few hours later but I'm just stunned that DH let this happen. He is THE most paranoid father and I can't believe he wasn't next to her as she was leaning over and playing in the pool. Yes, she has very good balance and is agile as a monkey but she's only 15 months old! DH kept saying that he didn't know what he was thinking, etc. I mean, it's not a huge issue because he WAS there, it's not like he went inside and left her alone or anything but I was still surprised by it. Well, we got inevitable out of the way so now we won't allow it to happen again.

Hey Dreshny and Ally. Thanks, Alexa's fine. Believe it or not, it wasn't scary since DH was right there and scooped her up in seconds. It was more like "Hello? Where's your common sense?". I think DH was getting a little overconfident with Alexa's abilities so maybe this was a good thing to have happen. Since this happened, DH has been hovering around her like a shadow making sure she's okay. I mean, I don't want to be overprotective about things but geez, let's set some safety priorities and the pool is one of those.

Thanks for the reminders to be careful Sophia and Ally...I know I have gotten a little overconfident that DS will be okay on his own, but this is such an age where they can get themselves into trouble (DH found DS on the dining room table the other morning and DS found some coins in a drawer recently that he was insistent about carrying around until I could distract him -- luckily they never went near his mouth).

Not going to try to catch up too much.
Sophia~Glad Alexa is okay. It sounds like DH has thoroughly punished himself with guilt over the incident.
Ally~Glad you caught the penny before it went in Aiden's mouth.
Unfortunately, I did not catch the coins - yes, coins - before they entered DD's mouth. She had managed to get 2 dimes and a penny in her mouth at once! I caught her as her fingers were coming out of her mouth, but it definately opened my eyes to exactly how far back on the desks this girl can reach!! No more setting our cash deposits out! They go right in the envelope/piggy bank when we get them!

Roseanne: Ours did come with the "female" lion but she looks terrible. Like a bad 70's Afro or something. I showed her to DH and asked him to guess what animal it was- he said some sort of bear? Definitely not like the one in the photo link. And the two zebras look identical to me.

I’m guessing GIRL, too.
Congratulations, Aiden & Asher!!
Sophia,
Ugh…my heart would be in my throat. Count me in as another who often takes for granted that DD will or won’t do something. Just this weekend, she was in the laundry room with me. As I was walking out, I noticed there was a penny and a piece of dog kibble on the floor. I had a laundry basket in my arms so I figured I’d set it down on the stairs and go back to get her. Surely she wouldn’t notice those things on the floor. She was too busy playing with laundry. Ten seconds later I return to find her eating the kibble and clutching the penny.
OMG, I am laughing so hard at Beastiality Noah and the Gay Lions. Oh, the PC world we live in!!

she looks terrible. Like a bad 70's Afro or something. I showed her to DH and asked him to guess what animal it was- he said some sort of bear? Definitely not like the one in the photo link. And the two zebras look identical to me.
Holy crap, I laughed my a$$ off at this! ~snort~
Penny and Kibble (aka a new Disney movie coming out in March! ;) ) - Yep, nothing is safe with our kids! Dog food and coins have not been an issue yet but Alexa will still spot the tiniest things on the floor. I thought she would have given it up once she stopped crawling but nope, dust specks and mini lint balls stand no chance when Alexa is around. Last night she was chasing something and I got close enough to see a practically microscopic baby millipede which Alexa did end up catching (but thankfully, did NOT put in her mouth). Well, if her future as a Nobel Prize winning scientist doesn't work out, she can always be an exterminator. :p

Our "female" lion really is that bad! Maybe I can find a photo somewhere; it's hilarious!
I am planning to put the FP Barn on DD's Christmas list but maybe I need to do a drive buy at the toystore to see how the animals are! I wonder if you can buy additional little people. DD loves to move them around, but all we got was Noah.
Yup, Ava wants a part in Penny and Kibble. She actually gives our piggy little Jack Russell Terrier a run for his money if she spots an errant kibble piece before he does. Dust specs, lint, dog fur bunnies are all fair game.

Nat,
Poor Addie! She just can't catch a break, can she? Is this her first EI? For once, my normally plagued child is actually well (*quickly knocks on wood*) Keith and I have been joking that we're finally able to accrue some leave time for the long winter ahead.
We have Caroline's 15 month WBV on Friday. When I called to reshedule it last week, I was informed her regular Dr. was out on maternity leave. I was like  I was just there a couple of months ago and she didn't even look pregnant!
Selfishly, I don't know what this means for Caroline and her appointment as this was the Dr. that diagnosed her egg allergy. Originally, our plan was to have the MMR administered by an allergist in case of reaction. I'm not sure if the Dr. who she will be seeing on Friday will be up to date on what's going on. I guess I should call ahead and ask.

15-Month WBV
Height: 31.25 inches
Weight: 21lbs 10oz
Head: 19 inches
She was due for shots today; however, I've misplaced her immunization record (thought it was in the diaper bag), so we've got to take her back for them. Luckily, with our new insurance our copay dropped from $25 to $10!! Dr also recommended that we get her the flu shot in November with her seasonal allergies.
Hopefully I can find that record and get her back out there within the week.

THREE yup THREE...
...teeth coming in at once. So needless to say, DS is a real joy to be around. Oh, and I am getting sooooo much sleep at night.
The Crash
Yesterday at full speed Thomas and a 3yo girl ran right into each other, bumping heads. It was rather dramatic. He has a mark on his cheekbone from it, and was pretty pissed off the rest of the day (teething didn't help). Last night and today every once and a while he'd touch his cheek by the mark look at me and *sigh* because his life is sooo tough. LOL!
Losing Weight?
Does it seem like your kid is losing weight now that he/she is walking around? Thomas was up to about 30lbs before his 15mo WBV but began walking (running) and was back down to only 24lbs by his appointment. And this week his diapers have been leaking at night, making me think he is slimming down...am I imagining things?
Natrat
Hell, if I am a 1st-try-ROer than ANYONE can be. So you better watch out! :)
Sorry to hear about yet another illness. Yuck. Does it ever end??

LOL! That is too freakin' cute! What a card! Poor Thomas though. Those little noggins are hard. :(
Losing Weight
Haven't had our 15 WBV yet, but by my estimates she's up about a pound since her last appointment. But yes, I did notice her losing weight right around the first year when she was starting to walk. For a while I was pretty freaked about it, but it seems to be leveling back off.

Sophia: Yikes about Alexa! Glad she is okay!
Nat: Sorry Addie is sick again. It's never ending. :(
Losing weight: Collin lost weight, too. he was over 24lbs before we went on vacation and since being sick is down to 23lbs.
WBV:
23lbs 3oz
31 3/4 inches
18.5 head
Collin is also anemic at this point and we started him on an iron supplement. He is doing well, though. He is climbing on everything! I'm a nervous wreck! LOL!

duh, I came in here earlier to post Addie's 15 month stats and totally forgot:
weight: 20lbs, 1.5 oz (10-25%)
height: 30 inches (25-50%)
head: 17.5 inches (5-10%) just call her peanut head ;)
kim Addie has barely gained any weight since she turned 1. I guess I attribute it to walking/running because she eats a lot! :p

All of our babies have grown so much. It’s so hard to believe they were all once about 6-7 pounds and about 20 inches long. How can that be?
Roseanne,
Asher looks perfectly healthy to me and he’s right on track developmentally. Hopefully your Ped will take in to consideration that you and Dan are both small people. Of course Asher is going to be small!

Liz ~ DD is the exact same way. She's always trying to pull down my shirt or pull on them. It wouldn't be so bad but they are sensitive right now and that only adds to the discomfort.
Kim ~ Don't feel bad DD has got two teeth coming in on the lower. I think that's been the reason she's been a little more crankier than usual. One is all the way in and the other is soon to be. I'm sort of dreading the molars coming in.
Losing Weight ~ Not sure if DD has lost any but it wouldn't surprise me. All of the 18 month size pants we've bought are too big. They keep falling down. I really didn't want to have to buy 12 month size jeans as I figured they would be too short even though the waist would fit really well. Oh the joys of having a small child in terms of her weight being in her length. I'm going to have to find a belt that we can use to keep her jeans up, if they even make one for little toddlers.

OB appt went well. We discussed a lot of things. The u/s looked wonderful. And we were able to find out what we are having. I'm not sure if I'll bet the bank on it just yet though. Baby was measuring a little more ahead so definitely going to be here around the 4th, instead of the 8th.

15 Month WBV Stats:
Weight- 21 pounds, 2 ounces (30%)
Length- 29.5 inches (25%)
HC- 46 cm (50%)
Everything went great. Dr. gave her a clean bill of health and said she's looking great. No shots today. The only one she was scheduled to get was the MMR, but we decided to have an allergist administer it due to her egg allergy. So, I got them to right up a referral to the Allergist I see and called them to schedule an appointment for him to administer it. She's scheduled for 10/17 at 4:00. I'll just have to stop at the Peds on the way and pick up the vax.
Oh well, on the way out the door. We're going camping this weekend! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Roseanne ~ Thanks. DH is thrilled to say the least.
Julie ~ Thanks.
Liz ~ Thanks. DH wanted a girl followed by a boy. And now it looks as if he's going to get his wish/dream. I really wasn't for sure either way. I couldn't really tell any difference in my symptoms (I was sick with DD and I was sick with this one so who ever says that you are only sick with girls is totally wrong).
Hope everything goes well with the vac and little one doesn't have a reaction. I was quite surprised that DD didn't have a reaction (had been warned that a reaction was highly likely in terms of a fever). I had one when I got mine when I was her age so I just figured DD would as well. Thankfully she didn't and you wouldn't have known she had gotten 5 shots that day if you didn't see the band-aides.

Mine!! That's Dougie's new word. But it comes along with a hand movement of his thumb pointing at himself. He says it over and over and over again. Everything is his, especially when his cousin's around. Then we have two boys saying "mine".
Weaned from a bottle We weaned him completely from the bottle 2 weeks ago and boy did he have withdraws! He would cry and cry in the morning and refused a few sippy cups, but we finally found one that he likes. I am so sad that my little guy is growing up so fast!!

Ally, so cute!!! Go, Aiden! He'll be zooming around at top speed in 2-3 days; it's amazing how quickly they pick up speed! Aiden definitely looks tall with skinny little legs to me! We have that same laugh & learn table.
Sick... Again
We've had a rough start to our weekend. I picked DD up at daycare early on Friday and immediately noticed she didn't coming running and smiling for a big hug like usual. She was sitting in her caregiver's lap, fussing. Cried when she saw me to be picked up so I got her and immediately noticed she was burning up! They had just gone for the thermometer. She was totally fine that morning; in fact, had photos at daycare and was in a great mood. Just woke up from her nap, miserable and febrile. Had a temp of 101.5 so I gave her some Tylenol. No other symptoms at all so I took her to the ped for ear/throat check. She just sat in my lap the entire time and barely fussed when examined, poked for a blood count, swapped for rapid strep and finally had a catheter for a urine check (poor baby). Her white count looked bacterial, but couldn't find anything. Her fever was up to 103 so we had to wait till she drank some liquids and gave her some Motrin and finally headed home, chalking it up to a mean viral illness. Neither of us slept that well last night, and she was hot and fussy this morning. Took a early morning nap, but then seemed better today. Poor baby!
It just seems like our little ones are picking up one illness after another lately! Hope everyone else is healthy and feeling well!

Camping trip was pretty crappy. It rained Friday & Sunday so we only had 1 day of nice weather. I always hate packing up in the rain. The real kicker...Keith sliced his middle finger open while hooking the pop up back on to the Yukon when we were leaving. He need 3 stitches and a tetanus shot. :(

I went to bake my grandmother cookies to send in a care package. She fell last week and couldn't make the trip for the Jewish Holidays. So, i melted my butter, added my sugars to the recipe..then when i looked for the Eggs there were none!! DH used them up and didn't tell me..so ahhh..i hate that.. Liz ~ Sorry to hear about the rainy weather and Keith's finger. Horray for Caroline sleeping so well, though.
I'm probably too late to chime in on the butter, but I think re-heating would be fine.
Well, we got the results of Ava's urine culture from Friday- she has a urinary tract infection so she got started on 10-days of antibiotics. Easy enough, but now we have to go through a whole work-up since she's still very young to be having UTIs. We have an ultrasound and two contrast studies scheduled in 3.5 wks with a repeat urine culture. I feel so bad for her to have to go through the catherization again. Ugh. At least she is taking the antibiotic easily

Maggie,
Poor Ava!! I can sympathize, I really can. I have a really bad history of UTI’s starting when I was a small child up until I was in my late teens/early 20’s. I have had to have the surgery twice where they stretch the urethra back open (once when I was about 6 and once when I was about 12). UTI’s suck! Try not to worry too much about her age. It’s not uncommon for little girls to get them especially while in diapers because to bacteria from the feces enters through the urethra. Make sure daycare is wiping her properly, front to back. Also, you may want to refrain from giving her bubble baths if you already do. Given my history, I am extra cautious with Caroline. I just put a little soap on a washcloth and gently wash her down there. I’ll be praying for little Ava and hoping all goes well. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Babysitting yesterday went so much better than I had anticipated!! :D I'm really looking forward to the rest of the week as opposed to dreading it now. I am going to try to keep Shylah on the same outings schedule, but we'll have to walk everywhere since I don't have a second carseat. Luckily, it has been really nice here! This morning, I'm planning on taking the girls to the library in our wagon. I hope it doesn't freak the other girl out, as she can be very skiddish! Thursday will be the same. I'll walk the girls over to great-grandma's house and drop Shylah off, so she still gets her weekly visit!

Well, we went to the library this morning, and OMGosh!! I was so tired walking all the way up there. It was probably 2 miles round trip, and I was pulling 50 pounds behind me in the wagon. I so think that is counting as my cardio workout for today! :p The girls had a good time at the library, and my friend's DD fell asleep about two blocks from my house on the way back. I got them out of the wagon (which caused friend's DD to wake up), fed them lunch, and put them down for a nap around noon. I got some much needed rest and lunch!! Now they are both up and playing together, when Shylah isn't trying to horde all the toys.

I know he is getting two molars and a tooth on the bottom front so it could be teething..he did have soupy poops two days ago and again yesterday morning...can anyone give me advice..if there is high fever i will call the doctor again.
Why does my child only get sick after he goes to his well baby visitS?? i'm so anal about not wanting him to play with the toys in the waiting room, DH lets him do it!!!
