I did a search and couldn't find this - let me know if there is already a thread!

I would really like to start wearing head scarves that tie at the neck. BUT - I can never get them to stay on, I don't know if my hair is too slippery or what, but they always seems to slide back and off my head. I have seen a couple that have elastic on the bottom part that goes around your neck, but those seem to be too big as well, the elastic isn't tight enough. Do people pin them to get them to stay? How do you pin them without having the pins showing???

Also where do you buy your scarves???
Any advice would be appreciated -

TIA!

I have one that I got at the Gap last spring. It is actually one of those stretchy headbands with another piece of matching fabric that mimics the "tails" of a tied scarf, hanging down at the back.

Are you trying to use the long narrow scarves or the square scarves? Square scarves work better as a kerchief, while the long narrow ones work well for tying around your hair.

I usually bobby pin mine. It's the only way they stay in my hair.

My mom has a womans clothing and jewerly shop in Maine and we carry these headbands that look like scarfs. The are from a company called Head Dress and are from NY. We can't keep them in the store. i am not sure if they are sold online or not.

Phen I'm trying the long scarves and trying to tie them like the pic you posted...but they don't stay put. Guess I'll have to try pinning them.

Kristy Sorry if this sounds really stupid, but where exactly do you pin them??? I tried it tonight, and was still having problems.... TIA!

mine pretty much only stay in place because my curls keep it there. But even then, they slip. I think you need to bobby pin them to get them to stay put.

Not stupid at all. I usually put in one pin, just above each ear. If it's a thicker/heavier scarf, I criss cross two on each side.
