...and DD figured out how to dump all her Cheerios on the floor anyway. Push the flap down, turn it over and shake, shake, shake. She's also already figured out how to take the lid off the cup and dump the contents out.

Why didn't this work for us? Anybody else have any other suggestions? I feel like I wasted $7. :p

We had the same problem. We abandoned the snack traps quickly. Noah'd shake the cereal out, and he REFUSED to stick his fingers in to get the cereal to eat. I like the gerber snack cups much better. I don't know if it's his age, or that these are designed differently, but he doesn't shake things out of them :)

my dd does the exact same thing! i had heard such wonderful things about them, but maybe it depends on the age of the kid? i have tried ot off and on with no luck. i just want to throw the thing away!

Definitely depends on the kid. DS#1 never did that, the second time that DS#2 used it, he dumped them all over the floor. Ugh. Little Stinker.

My kid hates it-won't put his fingers in it

DD used to do the same thing. I think it was "fun" for her. Now she doesn't really do it as much, but when she does, she looks up at me with this really innocent face, point to the ground and say "mess" ;)

Yep, total waste here, too.

depends on the kid. #1 couldn't figure it out for the longest time now does just fine with it. #2 does the same thing--sticks his fingers in, pushes down and shakes it all over the floor for the doggie. :)

Snack traps are well-marketed toys. It took DS about 5 minutes before he realized he could do the same thing. Such a waste of money!

So I just put his gerber puffs in the cupholder in his stroller tray. Works for us, and he only eats what he wants since he knows they are there, and its no real fun to take them out of an open container. ;)

I hate that stupid thing. I want to find the maker of the Snack Trap and have them clean out the 500 cheerios in my back seat. Oh and why the hell could they not have a closing cap so that the other 500 cheerios would not fall out in my tote bag.

We do the same thing as Kim and put cheerios in the stroller tray but I was really looking for something to give him on the ride home from daycare. Useless!

Try reintroducing at a later point. I first gave to DD when she was about 1 year and she did the exact same thing. So I thought, "garbage!!!!" I was going to donate it to a friend but kept forgetting to bring it to her. Then one day DD saw it on the table and ask for her cheerios in it (~ 6 months later), she has eaten properly off that thing since.

So don't give up hope yet.

Sophia, do those feed bags come in 12-18 month sizes? ;)

Thanks for the input. I might pick up the Gerber snacker and try the Snack Trap again later. *sigh* She figured it out, btw, in the parking lot of the TRU right after we bought it (I wiped it with an alcohol prep pad to do a quick sterilize). Urgh.

Interesting....I just bought one yesterday; haven't given it to DD yet but I HOPE I didn't just waste my $!

Same for us..cr*p. She pushes the flaps down and slings the cheerios everywhere.

I also hate the soft nuby cups that I got - she now squeezes the soft tip and shakes it so water/juice flies out everywhere. I was so happy the other day - she was in the car seat laughing and playing with her cuppy - then when I went to get her - cuppy was EMPTY - juice was flung all over her, the seats, windows....

You know, a feedbag could help Natalie keep her teeth to herself. Not that she's a biter or anything...:p

It's probably not a total waste, like someone else mentioned, try reitroducing it at a later time...it will likely still come in handy. DS did the same thing at 10 mos. but has been using it since about 18 mos with no major problems, now that he understand the purpose is to help him feed himself without making a mess. Now he only takes the cover off when he's finished eating and has nothing better to do; I make great use of it when we are having a snack in the car or in the stroller (we have a Techno so no tray).

Oh, we don't do juice. I wouldn't be upset if she flung water, but I would be more than a little annoyed if she flung juice! Hmm...maybe I ought to pick up some non-Nuby sippies because all we have are the Nuby ones.

You don't think the feedbag would suffocate her? Maybe I should try a muzzle.

Ugh, I'm having major flashbacks to the time DS pulled all the laser discs out of their sleeves and flung milk from his sippy cup all over them.

We have the Gerber snack trap and DD figured it out how to hold the flaps and fling the snacks out in just a couple of minutes. Still, she loves that thing so I do let her have it so she can play and munch at the same time. Just means I have to clean up afterward. :o

I was going to buy the other kind of snack trap, but it probably wouldn't work either.

I just had to bump this up as I gave the Sanck Trap a 2nd chance today. So far, so good! Maybe he was just too young to 'get it' when I gave it to him months ago?

Good for you! heh...When we gave it a second try the other day, she did the exact same thing as before. The dogs appreciated it.

I guess it just wasn't meant to be for us. :p
