Okay so I've been on hold FOREVER with the pedi office  ................

DS is teething, so I didn't think twice about his loose stool, however the last two poopie diapers(8am, 11am) have white clumps in them...sort of like cottage cheese.......................
Any thoughts??? No fever, very cranky, waking in the middle of night past few evenings....

TIA

DS had diarrhea one day and one time that I changed his diaper it was a very light yellow/green color with white clumps in it. It was better the next day. I asked the ped. about it and she said that it was probably just undigested milk.

at 8 months do you give cereal or some other type of solid food? i bet it is just some undigested food or milk as someone else said since his little tummy is upset. poor guy. :( let us know what the doctor says!

DS is solely BF but I have seen a little bit of white every now and then. Out of curiosity what did the ped have to say?

Would you believe that our pedi called five hours later?! I wasn't even home to speak with him. If we have another diaper like that I'm calling again tomorrow. My grandmother said that she thought it was undigested milk as well......

Thanks everyone, it happened once more tonight, poor little man.

So pedi just called, thinks that DS may have the following: C Difficile...a reaction to the anitibiotics he took when he had the MRSR Staph Infection.

I have to collect his stool and bring it to the lab at the hospital...here is some info:

What is Clostridium difficile colitis (C. difficile)?

Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) is a bacterium that is related to the bacterium that cause tetanus and botulism. The C. difficile bacterium has two forms, an active, infectious form that cannot survive in the environment for prolonged periods, and a nonactive, “noninfectious” form, called a spore, that can survive in the environment for prolonged periods. Although spores cannot cause infection directly, when they are ingested they transform into the active, infectious form.

C. difficile spores are found frequently in hospitals, nursing homes, extended care facilities, and nurseries for newborn infants. They can be found on bedpans, furniture, toilet seats, linens, telephones, stethoscopes, fingernails, rings, floors, infants’ rooms, and diaper pails. They even can be carried by pets. Thus, these environments are a ready source for infection with C. difficile.

Has anyone ever heard of this? Or maybe had experience with it? SHe suggested:
Yogurt,
Pedialite
Bananas/rice/pasta to bind him...........but his repertoire isn't that extensive....here's hoping :)

Wow! Here's hoping that it is something more benign like undigested milk. Keep us posted and good luck.

My ped doesn't call back until the evening. I hate it. The nurse will call back right away though.
