I have been noticing more break-outs on my face lately (I do tend to break out but only occasionally, usually it's hormonal)...I have an appointment with my dermatologist, but I have been searching online in the meantime. My break-outs are mostly on my chin, occasionally on the tip of my nose, and sometimes my forehead. My skin feels a little irritated and dry, occasionally slightly itchy. I was recently using Cetaphil cleanser and Cetaphil moisturizer with SPF 15 when I noticed my skin was starting to look worse. I then have been switching and trying other products, settling on Eucerin Redness Relief right now. I tend to have dry, sensitive skin, but things just seem worse lately. Don't know if it matters, but I am also on the pill (LoOvral) - have been for about 2 years now. Anyone else with similar skin issues - if so, have you been diagnosed with any form of dermatitis or another condition?

Thanks!!

I was told I had perioral dermatitis years ago. What I get are small red bumps (smaller than pimples) around my mouth - mostly between my mouth and my nose. They're red and kind of sensitive. I've asked 4 different dermatologists about it and was given metrogel to use once. The metrogel didn't help (and I now use it for rosacea on my cheeks). A few years ago I was told to use 1% hyrdrocortizone cream mixed with equal part benzoyl peroxide twice a day. I just bought generic tubes and put a small dollop of each on the back of my hand and mix it together. It does seem to help, but I don't do it religiously, so it would probably work better if I did.

I was told that my symptoms are very common for women in their 20's/30's and that there's no consensus over what causes it. (could be cosmetics, lotions or one doctor even told me flouride from toothpaste).

Thanks diam124, I appreciate your response! I guess I will just have to wait until my dermatologist appointment next week to figure things out. What I have sounds similar to you - small red bumps, not big zits, around my chin and mouth area.

Anyone else had anything like this?
