Did everyone get their hcg levels at their first doctors appointment? I wish I would have asked for a blood test right away so we could have known.
My next appoint isnt until Oct 13.....
Oh well, Just thought I would ask:D

Thanks a million everyone! I still don't believe that I am really pg. I feel like this is all sort of just a dream.

Sunshine~I didn't even go to the Doctor at all yet.:eek: So I didn't get any hcg test done... when I called to make my appointment they never told me to come in so i just assumed I was good on seeing the Doctor until October. They didn't tell me anything really, just to start taking an over the counter prenatal. Do you think I should call and ask if I should come in and have a pg test done by them as well?

Sunshine
08-23-2006, 02:20 PM
BerBer~The only reason I went to the doctor was b/c DH wanted me to see MY Family doctor before going to the actual "first appointment"
If it would give you peace of mind, do it. Or even just call and see if you need to or if waiting until your appointment in Oct is good enough....But they will probably just give you a U test, unless you go see your doctor and specifically ask for a blood test....
But yah, I didnt get any hsg levels either....I have to wait until October to find out.
But definately, take prenatals right away:) I just take an over the counter pre-natal too:D

Congratulations to both of you!

I can't believe it's already time for a May 2007 thread!

Ericka_Jarett
08-23-2006, 02:27 PM
As for HCG levels, you only get that when you you go in for a blood draw to confirm pregnancy, the doctors will usually take 2-3 more draws to check the levels. Some doctors don't require you to come for a blood confirmation.

Congratulations again to both of you and all those that will be joining you soon.

Sunshine
08-23-2006, 03:08 PM
Thank you tinkerbelljenny, nic & Ericka_Jarett!!!

Ericka_Jarett~Oh, okay. So my doctor I guess didnt think I needed to so I will prob get that done at my next appoint. Which woa, will be 10w6d!

I am not going to my midwife until later in September. Funny thing is, I had an appointment scheduled for yesterday, but DH didn't see the point prior to conception :rolleyes: I am not sure if she will do bloodwork...

My current thoughts are about my diet & lifestyle changes.... I am busy thinking about what to cut-out, what to add, etc. Also, I want to make sure I don't do anything hazardous in these early days. Does anyone know if going for a pedicure is dangerous with all the fumes??? I don't want to be neurotic, but I just want to be careful...

Alright... today I am more tired than I have ever been! It is only 10 and I feel like I need another 8 hours of sleep. I have been having some crazy nightmares/dreams these past few days and have been waking up half asleep and waking DH up too. Wonder how long he will put up with that!:o Last night there was a crazy storm here and hail and sirens kept going off all night long. It felt like we were in a hurricane and we live in the midwest! LOL... I woke up at one point and told DH that we had to go take cover... he calmed me down and I fell back asleep but, man am I paying the price now.

Who have we told....
I told my best friends and my Mom.

Any major symptoms lately girls?
Mine are just the dreams and being really tired and sometimes I get really hungry.

can you concentrate?
as I said above, I am a terrible time keeping focus...

Sunshine

Any major symptoms lately girls?
Hard time sleeping, I feel my stomach "stretching" at times, and I am finding it hard to concentrate on things:p Oh, and I feel SO HUNGRY even if I just ate?!?! I am trying not to pig out tho. Am eating a morning snack (trying otget used to eating breakfast) so I am drinking a big glass of milk and eating pears or fruit or something. And then dinner and lunch. And maybe another healthy snack somewhere in there!

can you concentrate?I am starting to lose focus on certain things.....I actually statred talking to our bebe in the car on the way to work this morning and then I thought, "Hmmm, I'm driving, maybe I should just Drive":p

Belly Shots~When are you going to start? I took a pic of DH and I about 5 mins after I told him...and I was thinking at 4 weeks I would start and take a new pic every 2 weeks. Not sure I will share the early early pics, but just wanted to see what you ladies thought!

melody
08-25-2006, 09:53 AM
I am feeling pretty great! and very excited- I had a moment last night of HOLY COW- we are having a baby! I have been a little weepy...

Belly shots? My hubby said he wants to get a new digital camera and take a photo everyday :eek: he is a little much! we will more likely take it once a week or every 2 weeks. I am pretty sure I would like to get professional shots done with him as well...

baby names? Our latest are Issac Elias & Hamilton Rebekah. Each has some special meaning to us-
Isaac is a name he has loved since he was a kid & Elias is his grandmother's maiden name.

Hamilton is a city in Bermuda (where we conceived or were VERY newly pregnant) and Rebekah is his grandmother's name. We would call her Milli for short, which is my mom's nickname :)

who knows how it will evolve though...

Sunshine

melody~Isnt it GREAT? I keep having those moments too! It just doesnt seem real yet!
Ha, my friend sent me an anniversary card in the mail and she didnt know I was pregnant yet, and inside of the card she wrote about how she hopes we will be blessed with a little one soon and how any child would be blessed to have parents like us and I just started weeping:p LMAO!
heehee, belly shots Every Day? heehee! I am opening up a studio in my basement so we will probably attempt to do the professionals by myself. I can set everything up and then use a timer, or he can shoot for me.....we'll see!
I LOVE how you chose Elias for a middle name!

baby names?Marcus Duncan Matthew for a boy and Aleeya Christine Rose for a girl/
Duncan is DH's Grandpa's name and Matthew is my Grampas name. Christine is DH's Mom and Grandma's name and Rose is my Grammas name!
We may change the girls name, altho the boys name IS DEFINATE!

BerBer
08-25-2006, 10:51 AM
Belly Shots I'll prolly take them but, only once a week or so. I don't really know when to start with that. I am sorta apprehensive about everything since it is so early...KWIM?

Consentrating ya nope... I must admit that I am a daydreamer in real life and so it is hard for me to tell if this is pg related of if it's just me being normal!!!LOL:D

Melody~your hubby sounds so excited! That is great, and I love the nickname Milli. So adorable, I could see a cute little girl running around with pigtails called Milli!

Sunshine~I think it is so touching that you are naming your child after someone. I think it is very endering to a child when they get older.(at least it was for me);) Rose is also one of my favoirte girl names!

I was thinking of waiting because we had a miscarriage in April and I wanted to make sure this one was going to stick before joining, but I want to think positive and enjoy every moment.

I had my beta drawn on Monday and it was 80. I was only 11DPO at that point so 80 is pretty good. The doc wants to redraw after 10 days or so and I think once I hit 1500 or so he will give me an ultrasound. But that is just speculation on my part ;)

Thanks for starting the new thread and I look forward to sharing the ride with you ladies.

Earlier Tony and I had went to my Moms for dinner. I went to the bathroom and thought I was spotting a little but it quickly went away. I don't know if I had scratched my cervix or what. I've been checking my cervical position and stuff for my own knowledge and I saw a very small tiny bit of reddish/pinkish blood. VERY small amount. I worried for a few minutes and checked again and it was gone. Hopefully it stays that way! Oh God PLEASE OH PLEASE let this baby stick!

Ericka_Jarett
08-26-2006, 09:33 PM
Tonysweetie - If I were you I would stop checking your cervix now that you are pregnant. You risk introducing an infection to a fragile environment. Even OB's only check it at the first appt and not again until you are closer to delivery, because they want to reduce the risk of introducing an infection. Just thought I would let you know. Don't want to scare you or anything

Hi everyone! Well, we have cautiously told a few family members that live in the same town we do but we are holding off making any big announcements until next weekend when we can travel to see both sets of parents and tell them in person. I want to see my mom, dad, and sister's faces when I tell them! I haven't even called the doctor yet, will do that and schedule an appt first thing on Monday.

Ericka_Jarett: Really? Okay thanks for telling me! I won't check anymore. I just liked seeing how things changed during pregnancy. I can't believe how far along you are. How exciting!!! God Bless!!!

metag00: Welcome!! It's hard keeping a secret isn't it?! Oh I was dying to tell my Mom for almost 4 days until I finally got too. Have fun. H&H 9 months to you!

Symptoms: Feeling pretty good today. Still tired but not too bad. Still no m/s. I keep wondering if it is going to show up eventually. My bb's are sore but too much more than usual PMS symptoms. Occassionally I get crampy and I could eat all day long, lol.

Not much going on today. DH had to work overtime which is great for the money! My friend Chrissy and her 1 year old son Elyjah might come over today which will be fun I hope! Then when DH gets home we'll probably go to the grocery store and get groceries then come home and grill out if the weather holds out for us. We have a hurricane possiably coming our way (I live in FL) but it could go towards New Orleans again which of course I do not at all wish that on them. Ugh! The one thing bad about this time of the year. Well have a great Sunday everyone. God Bless!!!

Hey there everyone...

not too many symptoms although I did have a minor melt down on Friday. First of all, I was really tired all day and was feeling sorta sick in the morning... I went home and watched T.V. and DH didn't get home until late and I(for some reason) was really upset that he was late and I yelled at him... Then, I got really sad that I had nothing to do, all my friends were going out or something cool like that. DH went and got some beers and was drinking and I felt like everything was so unfair.

How is everyone else doing with all this...? is it just me, am I going mildly crazy???:confused:

Welcome to metag00, giry76 & tonysweetie!

silly stuff...
I think it is a girl!- I keep having these odd coincidences...
for example-
I was listening to the radio thinking about our baby names. This chick called in & said "hi I am Rebekah from Hamilton." Later this weekend I was meeting with a friend, and she was asking me for advice about photographers for her wedding. We went through a list of 20 different photographers and picked the best 2. Without realizing the connection I said, "So, I think you should start with Millie & Rebekah and work from there..." As soon as I said it, I realized the uncanny similarity to my baby girl name- Hamilton Rebekah (milli for short)... I am probably really reading into this, but it may be just a mother's intuition ;) My hubby would think I am absolutely nuts if I told him!

being a pregnant bridesmaid-
So I am in my great friend's wedding in March. I will be about 34 weeks at the time! I am stressing about telling her. I didn't really share with anyone that we were TTC, so it will be pretty shocking for most of our friends. I am sure she will be happy for me, but I am still a little nervous that she will be disappointed... I really have to get over it! My other friend just selected her wedding date for June, at which I will be about month- 6weeks PP... that should be interesting as well! She has flat out said that she does not want any pregnant BMs and that she wants to go away for her bachelorette... I am not sure I will be able to swing that, unless we went away early (hmmmm, maybe we can combine the 2 bachelorette parties in February or early march for a weekend trip).

sharing the news!- we are going to see our parents tonight to share the news with them! I am excited, but not exactly sure how to deliver it...

sorry for the rambling!!!

Hope everyone is feeling well!

Tonysweetie~THANK YOU!

melody~THAT IS SO NEAT about the girl who phoned in to the radio station! I think it sounds like a sign to me!
I cant believe your friend said she does not want any pregnant BM's tho......Hmmm, That's kind of mean if you ask me. Does she know having a pregnant BM is actually good luck? Either way, you wont be pregnant....but I guess you wont be able to drink, will that make her mad? Sheesh. I hope ALL goes well telling them:D
And good luck telling your parents tonight!!!

Well, not much going on today. We did ALOT of walking this weekend. Like i mean ALOT! I made sure to keep hydrated, I drank more water than I have in my entire life, and I already drink ALOT of water:p LOL!
BUT, I did pull something in my groin area I think.....everything babywise feels good. Still some normal cramping here and there, but I was just wondering if anyone knows if this could hurt the baby at all.
ugh. I obsess about everything. I just want everything to be okay....
Anyways, have a gerat day everyone!

BerBer

Tony~Good luck on your Dr. apt. Hope all goes well for ya! Be sure to come back and let us know what to expect.:D

Melody~I am really supersticious too...LOL so I am always looking for signs. About the BM situation... that really sucks that you might get kicked out. I guess the bright side would be that then you can save more money for your baby.

Sunshine~I am by no means an expert here but... I don't think pulling your groin area will hurt your baby. Hey, I obsess too so don't feel weird about asking. I think we all have had those moments at least a few times so far!LOL;)

I would also like to give a big shout out to Girly76 & Metag00! Wahoooo! H&H 9er to you girls too!

Tonysweetie

Sunshine: I wouldn't worry about pulling something in your groin area. How did you do it? I would call your dr. just to be sure to ease your mind a little. I know what you are talking about though I obsess over everything, lol. Everytime I go to the bathroom I worry I will find spotting or something. Ugh! How many more weeks until the 12 week mark? hehe.

BerBer: I'm glad your feeling better. It is a huge adjustment so I'm sure we will all have our little freak outs every now and then. I would love ot sew something for the baby as well but I'm no good at that, lol. Good Luck!

Ooooo, starting to sew sounds like a great idea! I have always wanted a sewing machine, what a perfect time to get one!

Tonysweetie~Just ALOT of wakling. And then I got blisters on my feet while going back to the hotel, and so I was favoring the one foot, thus giving me a cramp in the groin area:p
Thanks for your response:)

I had my first apt. today. All went well. She measured me at 6 weeks along. She said the heart should be beating by now but we won't hear it until 14 weeks. Poo! My official due date is April 24, 2007 just like my chart says! Whoo Hoo for charting, lol. I have to go tomorrow for a ton of blood work and then I go back to her in 4 weeks. I go every month and eventually it'll be every 2 weeks then once a week. She did a pap test and breast exam like usual during your yearly and went over a bunch of stuff. She gave me a goody bag with all sorts of cute diapers and wipes, hehe. She wrote me a precription for prenatels. That is pretty much it. My weight is already up 6 lbs! :eek: So I gotta watch what I'm eating. I'm so excited now!!! YAY! God Bless!!!

That is such great news Tony'sSweetie! How exciting for you, we will miss ya but, I have been floating back and forth between the two threads as well so I'm sure we'll stay in touch.

Me...Well, I called my Dr. office today on the advice of my Mother. I was born 3 months early and she then had a tubular pregnancy that burst and then she couldn't have any more children. She said that I should tell the Dr. because sometimes these sorts of things run in the family and she doesn't want me to have a tubular pregnancy that goes un-noticed for too long if that is the case. Anyway, the Nurse scheduled me for an ultrasound on Sept 14. I must admit that it will definitly put my mind to ease just making sure the baby is in the right place. She also told me that according to my last period my new due date is May 3! :) yippeeee!

Yay for ultrasound! Hopefully everything is find and dandy in there and you will carry to term! I'm sure everything is fine though! :)

Just wanted to stop in with some of my two sense....
Tonysweetie- if you are still checking this thread I just wanted to tell you not to worry about slight spotting. I spotted here and there with my first pregnancy and have already with this one as well. (I am talking about a bit of red in my mucus only when I wipe.) However if the slight red color in your mucus turns into actual blood call the doctor.

BerBer- I can totally relate to your hormones and being short with DH. Before I found out I was pregnant DH kept saying...."OHHH, your def. preggo! I remember this attitude!" He was refering to how I was contradicting everything he said!! And this is all too fresh in my mind due to the fact that my last pregnancy only ended 7 months ago!

finding out the sex of the baby- DH and I will find out. There is no way I can wait the 9 months out. I am wayyy to impatient.

I think I am about 4 weeks along. I just made my first appointment for the September 28th.

cgriffin: Welcome and congratulations! You are a brave women having two babies so close together. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the one that I just found out about.

BerBer: You can sew!? That's talent! My mother in law gave me a sewing machine my sister in law (her youngest daughter) never used and I half tried to learn to use it and got frustrated and it has been in my garage ever since sadly.

Sunshine: Hope your groin heals quickly! I'm sure it will have no adverse effect on your pregnancy. I too am thinking about every twinge and crampy sensation I get. When it is your first baby how are we supposed to know what is "normal". I'm sure we are all counting down till the first 12 weeks are over. Is your first appt not until October? I am currently going through a choosing doctor dilemma myself. More on that below...

This whole pregnancy thing can be very overwhelming. What to eat, when to eat, how much, what not to eat, should you exercise, how hard to exercise, when should the first doctor's appt be, my mind is spinning! I think I've been reading too many books already. But that's how I attack any new experience, planning a trip, picking up a hobby, being pregnant. I'll read everything I can get my hands on! And all the books say something different.

I've been contemplating changing OB/GYNs. During my annual exam in March my dr rubbed me the wrong way when, while I was lying on my back during the annual exam, he asks me if we are going to start TTC in the next year (which I hadn't made my mind up about at the time) and if so I should get the CF genetic screening to see if I'm a carrier for the gene, and asked me my race, which therefore made me think that my race put me at higher risk (it didn't I'm hispanic) and then when I was trying to ask his staff how much this test might cost if my insurance didn't cover it no one seemed to know or care and they just wanted to give me the forms to get the testing done. It really hacked me off on several different levels.

My christian faith is important to me and a few pregnant and recent mommies recommended another doctor in town who is a christian and will give you the medical and christian points of view on issues if asked. But I called my own OB/GYNs office first to see if I could switch to the female doctor in the practice since I am ticked at my current doctor, and the receptionist asked me the first date of my last period. I told her July 28th. She said, "Wow, you are barely four weeks, that is really early for even a urine test to be positive, that is rare but I guess it does happen." I was like WHAT!? Four weeks is not early for a urine test you idiot, my period was due Thursday, I didn't get it, I tested, it was positive. What you talking about Willis?! Well, that is what I wanted to say. Then she said they wanted to see me on Sept 27th because "You can't see anything before 8 weeks" Umm...what about hormone levels, me, informing me the first time mother of what to expect. I just didn't like her attitude.

So I call the other dr that friends had recommended and they wanted to see me Sept 12th to do an ultrasound and blood work etc. I told her the first date of my LMP and she didn't flinch and said that I would be 7 weeks at that appt and that would be fine. So needless to say, I'm switching OB practices entirely to this new doctor who's staff seems to have a clue. I've always loved my last OB/GYN until my last annual exam in March and obvious it's been downhill since then. Another plus of the new doctor that can see me earlier is that he has privilidges at both the hospitals in town so I can choose later which hospital I'm more comfortable with instead of being tied down to one now.

I'm right about that staff lady thinking that four weeks is "way early" for a urine test to pick up right? I may be new to this stuff but I think I could have tested on Monday of last week with a sensitive Answer Early test and probably still gotten a faint line. Craziness. Sorry for the vent!

Ya'll have a good evening!

will you find out gender? We are also on the fence about this one... Originally, I wanted to be surprised and DH wanted to find out, but now I sort of want to know & he is thinking about waiting! :rolleyes: we will decide as the option gets closer...

meeting with Rising Moon Midwife-we enjoyed our meeting with our first midwife. They specialize in homebirths, which is an idea we like, but are not totally committed to... we are also going to interview some birth center midwives & a regular hospital OB...

telling the parents! it went very well. our moms cried, our dads smiled. everyone is excited for us!

metag00 I think you made the right decision on changing OB's. When I had my miscarraige I switched. I was originally with a midwife. I was going through the miscarraige and she never met with me once! Just sent me for bloodwork and basically told me it was over. I really wanted a midwife but asked around and got the name of my current Dr. he sent me for more bloodwork and stayed after business hours to meet with me. I have 100% confidence in him and I think that is very important.

Things are going pretty well here. I will have my second beta bloodwork later this week.

metag00~Thankfully, my groin is all healed up now:p LOL! How silly is that......Thank you:)
Yes, my first real appointment is in Oct...I went to see my family dr already but he had to refer me to someone else and that is the earliest I can get in...
I have done the same as you, read so many books, tried to get as many opinions as possible and then just figure out what is best for me.....
But I am shocked at hearing that you were told 4 weeks is too early for a urine test. I got my BFP at 3w3d, and then had the dr confirm, that same day, without first morning urine. So that is a crock.....:(
So Setp 12 is your dr appoint then? I can update with that info? Going to do so:)
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Ericka_Jarett~THANKS AGAIN!!! I'm so excited to see our group grow too!

melody~I am SO HAPPY that telling your parents went so wonderfully!!!!! Cant wait to check out those links!

Nothing too new with me. My BB's are REALLY starting to hurt now. I woke up several times last night b/c they were so painful:(
Other than that, I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunshine & Erica - Thanks for making me feel better about my decision. I knew that that lady was wack for thinking that that was "way early" for a urine test. P.S. I really enjoyed using the word wack just then. lol.

Sunshine - Sore boobs, tell me about it! I wince when going over speed bumps and railroad tracks it is so bad! I was thinking today if it was possible for me to walk lighter in some way to prevent my boobs from bouncing, and I never even noticed the bounced before, I'm only a b cup for goodness sakes! I too didn't sleep well last night because I am a stomach sleeper and kept waking myself up when I would turn on my stomach because it would hurt my boobs.

Because of the above reason, I decided to just invest in a body pillow now. I got one that the Boppy pillow people make and found it at Target. I thought it would help and encourage me to sleep on my side and I thought if I get one now I will get that much more use out of it. I know, it seems silly as most people don't get a body pillow until much later but why not if it will make me feel better already and keep me from waking myself up at night!

sore boobs- this is all coming screaming back to me. I forgot just how much they hurt in the beginning....now add and nursing and agressive 7 month to that and you have me! Its amazing how fast you forget it all and how quickly it all comes back as well!

Other than the sore bb's the only other "symptoms" that I am having are a little back pain and I am sooo tired its not even funny. I catch myself sitting on the floor with DD to play and end up almost falling asleep!

I will try and catch up on more later but DD is not letting me type too easily. I have to go put her down for a nap!

I am grumpy lately. Yesterday was bad. A couple of things happened at work that made me mad. An employee that has nothing to do with my job (Well, no one here has anything to do with my job except my boss) anyways, he basically told me to do something that I really dont have to do. ANd he said it SO RUDE I basically told him off.....
The I complained to our HR manager and HR guy and told them I didnt like him and I thought he was a loser.........:p But no one tells me what to do.

Then I went home and I snapped at my Dad and I snapped at DH. DH asked me what was wrong and I just said I didnt know, I was owly and grumpy.....

We were suposed to go camping this long weekend at a really nice place. it is HUGE and the lake is HUGE! But it is about an hour away and we are not sure if we can get a spot.
ANyways, we were going to risk it.
Now Dad wants to go to this pisshole of a lake, that is SO TINY. The campground is SO SMALL you could run from one end to the other in like 1 minute. Everyone stares at everyone, there is no privacy, no trees, nothing. PLUS there is some sort of festival there, so it is going to be even morepacked than normal. ugh.
No electric sites so I cant use the a/c in my dads motor home, and I will not swim there b/c the water is NASTY! NASTY! So I am afraid of overheating, and well, I just dont think we are going to have a good time.
Plus, we have to use the yucky toilets and with me using the washroom so much, ugh.

Anyways, I am following my Dad up tonight to see if we can get a good spot (:rolleyes:) but I'll have to tell him that we will prob bring our car too on the weekend bc if it gets too hot I am not staying there........

OH, and my Gramma and Grampa will be out there so I have to tell them we are pregnant b/c I cant lie to them all weekend. (I told you all thatmy Dad slippe dup and told them right?)
Anyways.................sorry for that rant...............

metag00~I should get a body pillow, I have already started putting an exta blanket in bed with us so I could wrap my legs around it like an extra pillow....it seems to help! LOL!

cgriffin~WOW! I couldnt imagine having to breastfeed right now! That would KILL! I hope you are able to get some sleep!

ACKKK! I am so thrilled to be here.

Username: Sadie
Me: Sadie, 31
DH: C, 32
Married: June 2005
TTC: March 2006
BFP: August 30, 2006
EDD: No clue
Gender Prediction: Girl...or boy. One of those. :D
Any other children: Nope, just 3 cats and a fish

I have no clue when my due date is b/c I think I O'd REALLY late...I didn't get a BFP until CD 47. So I'm guessing sometime in early May. I have a dr. appt. on 9/13 which was just going to be for my annual exam and perhaps a "why the heck aren't I getting PG" chat, but I guess now it will be my first PG visit!

I just got the BFP this morning, I hope it wasn't a fluke...I'm having a hard time believing it b/c I don't really have any major symptoms. I may have to run out and get some more tests. :D Anyway, I am so happy to be joining you!

Thanks for the welcome!

Sunshine, I had charted for the 2 cycles prior to this one, but didn't chart on this one. My cycles had gotten to be 33 days, so when that point came and went this time and I kept taking tests and getting BFNs I just figured my body was still whacked out from being on BCP. I had some really bad cramping a couple of weeks ago that I thought was AF coming, but maybe it was O, or implantation or something? I have no idea. Based on my LMP my due date would be around 4/27, but I think that's too early by a week at the very least.

I still can't believe it, and am very nervous. Long ago and far away in a different lifetime (about 6 years ago) I had a miscarriage at about 11.5 weeks. So I am prayin for a sticky baby this time!

Metag~I think I'm going to get a body pillow too... I am a huge stomach sleeper and I have no clue how I'm going to manage not being able to sleep that way!...

Sunshine~Ahg....sorry you have to stay at a crapy campground this weekend. We are going up to my uncle's cabin and are staying in a tent... I am so scared of bears though and last time they were up there, they had a momma bear and her bear cub snooping around one night.:eek: Hopefully we'll make it back in one piece!

That is *SO* great that DH is being SO SUPPORTIVE! It definately helps doesnt it?

Cgriffin you are wonderwoman! I can't imagine breastfeeding and being pregnant! Wait, I can't even imagine breastfeeding! :)

Welcome Sadie and congratulations! My first appt is on Sept 12th just right before yours.

Sunshine Sorry you had a bad day and that totally stinks about the whole camping thing! I guess there is no hoping that your family will change their mind and go back to the bigger lake? Well, at least you'll have some smores maybe? :p

I forgot to answer the question before of if we wanted to find out the sex. I think we are pretty set on not finding out and it being a surprise.

Well, I really liked my first night of sleeping with my body pillow last night. It really helped me stay on my side and therefore not wake myself up by laying on my stomach and my sore boobs. This weekend we are going to Dallas to tell my parents and also traveling through where my DH is from to tell his parents. Then I will tell everyone at work after the long weekend. I just thought my parents should know first and I wanted to tell them in person as this will be their first grandchild. My sister who is three years younger than me and has been begging for a niece or nephew will be beside herself I'm sure. I'm making them picture frames that say, Coming Soon to a Picture Frame Near you, Baby X, May 2007. I need to get to work on that tomorrow night before we leave on Friday! I hope the next two days go by quickly so I can hurry up and tell my parents. Every time I talk to them I want to say something but can't! It's killing me!

Sunshine
08-31-2006, 08:16 AM
metag00~Nope, no chance, Dad and I went to take the motorhome yesterday, BUT I do have to say, we probably got the best spot there:p Not much, but its got trees behind us, a lake view in front of us, and privacy b/c our motorhome is on the right, and another is on the left...so thats alright I guess.........
I'll definately have marshmallows at the least:p
AWE! Your idea for the frame is SUCH A CUTE IDEA:) heeheeee! I cant wait to hear how it all goes:D

~~~~~~~~~
Sooooooooo, has anyone NOT told everyone yet?
I am having a hard time bringing myself to call my GF b/c I dont want to tell her until after my dr appoint but I KNOW she is going to ask..........ugh....
What do you say other than lie and say "Nope, not pregnant..."
Sadie
08-31-2006, 09:16 AM
I have not told anyone besides DH, but of course I just found out yesterday. :p We are going to be seeing both of our families this weekend, so we'll be telling them then. I'm not entirely comfortable with it, it feels really early to me, but I don't think I'd be able to keep my mouth shut for too long anyway. DH really wants to tell.
DH was so excited; I don't think either one of us got any sleep last night. He has taken over the cat box duties; informed the cats that they are to be my nursemaids and make sure I get plenty of rest; and informed me that I am not to lift anything heavier than a loaf of bread. lol. He also started reading the book I had bought him:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0836280180.01._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-dp-500-arrow,TopRight,45,-64_AA240_SH20_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
But I think some of the info in there is crap, and since he is not extremely knowledgeable about the whole birth thing anyway, I'd like to get him something more accurate and informative. Any suggestions?
Sunshine
08-31-2006, 09:23 AM
Oooo, neat book....Not worth buying?
I'm not sure about any other books. I read my "What to expect when you're expecting" and I have a few more, and when it gets to something I know he'll be interested about, I just read it to him:p
telling people We told our immediate family as soon as the doc called and said my first beta looked good. I told a few people at work and so has DH. I won't go public at work probably till after 12 weeks.
I have to say though... when I had my miscarriage I was really glad that I hadn't told everyone at work. It was hard enough to come back without having to tell everyone the bad news. This time my mom asked when she could tell people. I told her she could tell whoever she wanted just as long as she was prepared to tell them if something went wrong.
I go for my second beta blood draw this afternoon. Please send high # thoughts my way. I probably won't hear the results till the afternoon tomorrow but I will post when I know.
Good luck giry76!
Sunshine, I don't think the book is that bad (I have actually only skimmed a couple of sections) but it's supposed to be more funny than informative. Like it has a list of things that I will supposedly be complaining about every month. I didn't actually think that DH would be all that interested in reading this stuff, I figured he would just google or ask me any questions he had, but he seems really interested so I'd like to get him something more informative.
Sadie- I bought DH a couple of books with my first pregnancy and He liked them however I think alot of the books geared toward the men are a bit more humerous than informative. I know that out of all of them he liked "The Expectant Father" the best. It had a decent amount of information in it. Also, like sunshine said, What to expect when your expecting is also good for him as well as you. DH really liked to pick that up and read through it as it is all informative. HTH!
giry76- sending lots of high #'s, thoughts and prayers your way.
Sunshine- I'll be thinking of you on your camping trip this weekend. I hope it goes as relaxing and smooth as possible! :)
BerBer- in response to your herb question. I am pretty sure that as long as what you are taking is specifically geared toward pregnant women it should be ok, however a quick call to your doc's office never hurts. I know that they tell you to stay away from herbs ect. during pregnancy because some can cause you to have contractions, early labor etc. There are alot of places to find out what is safe and what is not. For example, I once went to Bath and Body Works to get a gift for a friend who was pregnant and they brought out a book of what I could buy for her and what I couldnt from the aromatherapy line.
gf&js
08-31-2006, 08:51 PM
Just sneaking in, I have a very strong feeling that I might be joining in the near future :)
berber - on the herbs - your doc's office is probably following federal guidelines since most herbal stuff is not tested by the FDA so no one can officially say what is safe and what isn't safe for your baby - especially when it comes to doses. I'm not saying the FDA is be all to end all or always right, but your doctor is most likely going to try to keep you on the path most known about. Just my thoughts.
Congrats to all of you with BFP's!
BerBer
Sunshine~DH is really into the whole CDing idea, but I definitly think we will use disposables occationally. The hardest part is going to be getting my mom on board with CDing, as she will be babysitting 2 or 3 days each week.
Metagoo~Good luck this weekend telling your family. I'm sure they will be thrilled. Can't wait to see how everything goes, keep us posted.
Sadie~DH had been reading a few of the books I've got from the library and has been pretty proactive regarding internet searches ect. I don't think I will be getting him a book for himself now, thanks for the review though!
Giry76~Hope those beta numbers came back super high yesterday. Crossing my fingers for you!
gf&js~I think I'm going to talk with my doctor in October regarding herbs and how I want to do a natural birth if at all possible. I want her to know my point of view on this child birth and if it is too much of a strain for her then I am going to look into other options. I hope she will be receptive to all of this, I am really not looking forward to a struggle.
cgriffin~ugh, it just got worse.....Someone rammed into my Dads motorhome last night and put a hole in the side of it. Now he is trying to see what is going to happen and who is going to fix it. He is also moving us to another spot, basically a OVERFLOW empty right in the open spot. ARGH! sigh........what do you do? :(
gf&js~THANKS for the congrats!!!
BerBer~Maybe Mom can just use disposables?
I think many people are in your situation and I have read that if you think it will hinder a promotion, than wait. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Good luck also this weekend, I hope your mom can keep a secret!
BerBer, I'm glad you asked, b/c I was wondering the same thing. I think I'm about as far along as you are. My nipples are a little sore, but that's really about it. I've had a couple of waves of nausea, but that happens when I'm hungry even when I'm not PG. So really I don't have any symptoms that scream "YOU'RE PREGNANT."
giry76-Congrats on your beta results!!! Thats great!
Symptoms- I have the sore bb's and the occasional nausea. Mostly I am really tired and picky about what I eat. This time around I am noticing things sooner, probably because I only went through them less than a year ago.
Tonysweetie-I would assume no news is good news. Every time last pregnancy that I had any tests done of any kind I never heard anything back. They said they would let me know if there was anything wrong or that I needed to know about.
me: I still forget sometimes that I am pregnant. With Claire keeping me on my toes its easy sometimes. Then it comes screaming back to me when I am ready to go to sleep for the night at 7pm or i feel sick to my stomach.
I am already antsy to find out the sex of the baby. I wish they could tell you the day that you find out your pregnant. Although, at 20 weeks its a nice little pick-me-up when you still have half of the pregnancy left. Thats my reasoning. At the beginning, the suprise and excitement is that your pregnant. At the half-way point its finding out the sex of the baby and at the very end its the birth of your little angel. At least thats how I choose to see it. I am the most impatient person when it comes to things like that!
Well, I am falling asleep as I type this so Im off to bed for tonight! Hope all of you ladies sleep well tonight!
Thanks for all the replys about my beta results.
I think that since my betas look so good I am back on "normal" pregnancy track. They set up a nurse appointment for this week and an appointment with the doc later in the month. I was secretly hoping for an early ultrasound but it would just give me something else to "worry" about, so I will just have to be patient.
BerBer You are in my prayers. I'm sorry you are having to go through this!
Sunshine It sounds like your camping trip got off to a rocky start with the camper getting damaged but it sounds like it ended well and I'm glad that your grandparents were so excited for you!
We just got back from Dallas and sharing the news with my parents, sister, and high school friends. My parents we thrilled to say the least. My mom was upset because on Friday night I got in kinda late and by the time I told them it was 10PM and she couldn't call anyone :) We had a great weekend and I went to the mall and got a Bella Band from Babystyle and my sister surprised me this morning before I left and bought me a shirt I could wear even if my tummy expanded (a long tunic type shirt) and got some Baby Einstein blocks for the baby and a Baby Bargains book. I told her she is the best Aunt ever!
My pregnancy symptoms are still the very sore boobs, hungry every two or three hours, and extreme thirst. I feel great, I'm not really that tired and I am not nauseous at all yet. Mom told me she never had morning sickness so maybe I'll be lucky. I see the doctor a week from tomorrow and I want this week to fly by so I can hurry up and go and see what is going on inside me. They told me they will do an ultrasound so we will wait and see!
Hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day!
April '07 mommy here, but I just wanted to pipe in with thoughts for Berber.
Berber-wanted to let you know that I spotted from 5-9w (am 11w now). I went in for three ultrasounds during that time and everything was always okay. I only spotted brown, dead blood which eased my mind, but the other thing that eased my mind was temping every morning. So long as my temp stayed high I knew that I wasn't miscarrying. Did you temp prior to getting pg? If yes then you may want to try taking your temp again for the next few days to make sure it stays high.
Also are you cramping? My doc said that spotting is usually harmless unless it is accompanied by BAD, painful cramps..the kind that make you double over in pain. I recommend drinking LOTS of water too...and rest and stay off your feet as much as possible.
Remember, spotting doesn't always mean bad news. Physiologically it makes sense that as your uterus grows there may be some breaking/tearing of membranes which cause bleeding. Most people reabsorb that blood, but not everyone does, and it has to come out.
Take it easy and keep everyone posted. Sending you sticky vibes.
BerBer, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you; hang in there.
Welcome, erin16nj and gf&js! :D
We had a big weekend. We told my ILs the news on Friday, and my family over the rest of the weekend. Everyone is very excited for us; my mom went out and bought me 3 pregnancy books. I haven't told any of my friends yet...I'm still really nervous, and probably will be until my dr. appt. So I may not tell anyone else until after that. I am nervous, but at the same time SO SO EXCITED for my appt and to see the baby. I know we won't be able to see much, but just seeing a little heart fluttering is all I need!
Sunshine & Tony's - too bad about the morning sickness. It's funny in a way I want to have it so pregnancy feels more real - but I KNOW I'll be kicking myself for saying that in the very near future :)
Steve's Sweety - we've got the same EDD and were both married in June '01!
BerBer - I hope you can keep from worrying too much. It sound like you're doing pretty good staying optimistic. I've been crampy and twingey everyday for a week (not serious, just different than I've had before) and I've now latched on the the idea that it could be ectopic. Argh, I can see I'm not going to be cool-headed for this pregnancy.
I am very excited about this, but DH is a bit shell-shocked. Hopefully he will get more into it soon. One major downside is that I will be away for the next 6-8 weeks in TX caring for my father. But I am happy about a spring baby. I have been obsessive about learning about lots of PG, birth, & baby type stuff for months now. I have a feeling most of my choices are going to be a bit "out there" (ultra-crunchy) for some of you. But, I promise not to be pushy or try to force my ideas on you and hopefully you can respect my decisions even if they are not for you. :)
Anyway, I guess I'll go through the thread now and try to find all those other questions that have come up.
Who have we told....
I called my mom right away. No one else IRL yet. Have a few close friends I will let know tomorrow.
Any major symptoms lately girls?
My boobs are pretty sore. But b/c I was traveling last week I was drinking more caffeine and getting fewer B-vitamins than usual, so that probably made them worse.
Belly shots? I'm a bit overweight, and don't expect to start showing for many months.
Are you going to find out the sex of your baby or leave it a surprise? I am hoping not to have any ultrasounds at all. If I absolutely have to have one for medical reasons than I would not be opposed to finding out the gender.
Did your OB tell you anything re herbs? Are you taking anything natural right now? Did you tell your Dr.?[/QUOTE]
Not planning to have an OB. Did not contact a midwife yet, but due to travel will not see her until mid-late November. [Actually I'm not totally positive about finding a midwife at all, I may just be doing my own prenatal care, but I think I want to get one just to see what they are like and have someone to talk to. (I am planning to UC) Obviously, if a complication arises I will seek appropriate care]
Right now all I take is my multi-vitamin (I prefer them to any prenatals I've been able to find b/c they are organic & food based), extra folate, and Cod Liver Oil.
I will be drinking tons of Red Raspberry Leaf tea to tone the uterus, but not until the 2nd trimester. It can cause M/C if taken too early. So you can't just go by what the store has labeled. B/C some things are great, but only at certain stages.
Books
No advice on books for Husbands. My DH likes to let me do the research and then he trusts me to make the right decision.
So far all I have read are
Birthing from Within http://www.amazon.com/Birthing-Within-Extra-Ordinary-Childbirth-Preparation/dp/0965987302/sr=8-4/qid=1157610899/ref=pd_bbs_4/104-8027629-5879968?ie=UTF8&s=books The copy I read belonged to a friend and was an old edition. It was about 5 yrs ago that I saw it. It was the first time I ever thought about giving birth and it was totally inspiring.
and
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth http://www.amazon.com/Ina-Mays-Guide-Childbirth-Gaskin/dp/0553381156/sr=8-1/qid=1157610847/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-8027629-5879968?ie=UTF8&s=books
I loved the stories but she is waay too hands on for me.
Books I plan to get are:
Unassisted Childbirth - by Laura Shanley and probably some other books about UC and also about the sensuality of birth.
http://www.unassistedchildbirth.com/inspired/empower.html
Dr Sears'- The Pregnancy Book, The Baby Book, Breastfeeding Book, Attachment Parenting Book, etc. Probably not all of them, depends on what else I find.
I've looked through WTEWYE, TGGTP, an some other popular ones at the bookstore. While some of the writing is neat, they are definitely not books for me and had an approach that is incompatible with mine. Before I had thought I might want to get something on the Bradley method, but realized I probably won't like it as it is often referred to as "husband coached childbirth" and I am totally not into that. (I don't believe in any birth coaching)
I love to read and will have two months of having hours of down time so I may end up reading a lot more. (I will be caring for my father and will have to basically just sit around and make sure he is ok for hours at a time)
Welcome, Rico'sAlice! I am actually quite glad to have an ultra-crunchy viewpoint in here. I am sort of middle-of-the-road I guess, but I like to hear perspectives from both ends of the spectrum.
Berber, glad you are feeling better! Hopefully the spotting will stop soon and you'll get to see the heartbeat next week. :)
No nausea here yet. However my face is like an oil slick. It is horrible! I feel like I'm 14 again. :o
Gender Prediction: According to FF, we have a better chance for a girl
Any other children: Nope.
I've been kind of hesitant to join since it's so early and I don't want to jinx anything, but I'm definitely pregnant. It kind of worries me that my HPTs are so very faint when I'm already 16dpo, but a line is a line.
Anyone else get hit with the newly pg cold?
I have a *horrible* cold, but I don't think I can call it a pg cold because I've had it for 11 days now. I'm so sick I'm actually staying home from work today.
Any major symptoms lately girls?
Not at all, though with my cold I wouldn't recognize a pg symptom if it hit me in the head with a large fish.
I have been obsessive about learning about lots of PG, birth, & baby type stuff for months now. I have a feeling most of my choices are going to be a bit "out there" (ultra-crunchy) for some of you. But, I promise not to be pushy or try to force my ideas on you and hopefully you can respect my decisions even if they are not for you.
You'll have one other person to be crunchy with :) I've read a ton of stuff about childbirth, especially natural childbirth, over the past year or so. I would really like to give birth in a free standing birth center, but there are none in the Twin Cities. I've thought seriously about homebirth and sometimes I feel totally up for it, but the fact is I would probably find it more stressful at home because I would be worried about making sure it was really clean for the midwife and getting stains on the carpet and we have stairs between the bathroom and bedrooms and no whirlpool tub. So I've pretty much decided to deliver at the one hospital in the area that's really supportive of natural and water births (that's St. Joseph's, gf&js) and with the midwife practice that's always highly recommended on mothering.com. People drive long distances to see them, and I'm lucky enough to be only a few miles away.
I am hoping not to have any ultrasounds at all. If I absolutely have to have one for medical reasons than I would not be opposed to finding out the gender.
I'm really debating this. I don't believe ultrasounds are medically necessary, and could be harmful, but at the same time I can understand the huge amount of reassurance they can give. It's something I'll have to discuss with my midwife.
Rico'sAlice I highly recommend the book Babycatcher by Peggy Vincent.
gf&js I think we probably met at a get-together at some point, but I can't quite place you.
Congrats Yolanda and Kiki'sMommy!
Kiki'sMommy, using a due date calculator online, based only on your LMP, I got a due date of 5/6 for you. Based on conception date, I got 5/13. However, it varies based on how long your cycles are, etc. I would say somewhere between those two dates is a good guess, though. Welcome! :)
I am so excited about all of our new members-
welcome to Kelliann, Rico's alice, magrat, kiki'smommy, & Yolanda!
rico's & magrat- yeah for the crunchiness!!! I am very mainstream in most of my life, but when it comes to my parenting preferences, I definitely lean towards the crunchy... DH & I are considering a homebirth, waterbirth, no (or limited) u/s, CDing, co-sleeping, etc... have you been to www.mothering.com discussion boards? I am a member of the May '07 due date club there as well- they have great info about natural parenting.
sunshine- did your due date change? I am so confused- I thought we were the same, but I am only 5 w 5d, and will be 6w on Saturday? is my pregnancy brain confused?
berber-I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better! Sometimes we just have to trust our bodies :)
as for my symptoms- M/S is here! I woke up and showered today, and couldn't stand how I felt, so I went back to bed until 11am! I am lucky to work for myself, so it is ok. Also, I have started having food aversions- to Ice cream of all things! I thought I would treat pregnant self to a snack that I LOVE, but rarely indulge in... I couldn't eat more than a few bites! I am also disgusted looking at salad in my fridge, but fine ordering it at a restaurant ;) I really want to eat healthy, but I am not feeling very hungry for certain things. I have been doing well with oatmeal, cheese and fruit, but I think I need more protein... any suggestions?
do you chew gum- how to keep fresh breath?- So, I used to always chew sugar-free gum, but realized the other day that it has aparatame... I feel like I want to have something to freshen my breath throughout the day, especially in meetings... Do I just need to brush my teeth fanatically? :rolleyes:
I called the clinic I want to go through and spoke to a nurse. She was so so so so nice! I feel so much better. She said absolutely not to worry about a very faint pregnancy test at this point, it's very early days. And she told me what to do about my cold. No aspirin, I can take tylenol if I need to, but to drink lots of hot water with lemon and use hot compresses on my head. When I told her I charted she said something along the lines of "good girl, that's a smart thing to do!" which made me feel so relieved, I know a lot of doctors aren't supportive of charting. I have my first appointment Oct 3rd.
Your pregnancy brain Definately isnt confused:D
Oh, and THANKS for reminding me about oatmeal. I'm going to start eating that. Do you make it yourself or use the premade packets??????
Sorry about the m/s.......
DH & I are considering a homebirth, waterbirth, no (or limited) u/s, CDing, co-sleeping, etc... have you been to www.mothering.com discussion boards? I am a member of the May '07 due date club there as well- they have great info about natural parenting.
I pretty much live at mothering. I love being here for the celebrity snarking, general chitchat etc but for all things baby-related I feel much more at home there. But I think it is also nice to have a group (this one) with more diverse ideas so that we can all be exposed to new things.
Anyway, I am in the May07 DDC there as well- same username.
do you chew gum- how to keep fresh breath?-
At my healthfood store they have sugarfree gum made with xylitol and no other sweeteners. It is good for oral health. Some people reject it as artificial, and technically it is processed, but it is found naturally in fruits like raspberries and your body actually produces some itself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylitol
A sprig of parsley or plain mint leaf can also freshen breath.
Holy Shout Outs Batman!
Fiesty~Part of me really wants to relax and let happen whats inevitably going to happen. I really want to think I am being overly worried but then I start to read books and I freak myself out. DH definitly thinks I am being overly nervous but, I simply can't help it. I agree with Tony's in that non of us are every really confident about the pg until we have that little tiny person with us.
Rico's Alice~Congrats and welcome to the May Mommies! I too wasn't trying for a baby but, now that I am I can't imagin why not. I am a crunchy leaning girl myself so it is great to see the many different ideas and I'm glad there is a vast spectrum here in this little group. It is also so inspireing to see how confident some women are when it comes to natural births ect... If ya really think about it, going to a hospital is a relatively new practice in the grand scheme of the world.
Sadie~I am really oilly too... ah to be a teenager again! LOL. I'm a middle of the road crunchy girl as well, have ya been over to the CD'ing thread yet? That is going to be so addicting!
Megrat~Welcome and Congrats to you too! Oh and another midwest girl I see. It will be great to follow along with you here.
Yolonda~Happy and Healthy 9er to you too! Your husband sounds so thrilled, that is so wonderful.
KeliAnn~Happy and Healthy 9er to you too. It is great to have you join the May Mommies thread!
Sunshine~Girl, I feel like I am slacking on helping you with thread updates but, you always beat me to the punch!;)
Steve's Sweety - we've got the same EDD and were both married in June '01!
I noticed that, how funny!
Alice, Sarah & Yolanda - Welcome and congratulations!
Oh, and add me to the "crunchy" camp too - we're at least semi-crunchy. ;)We took Bradley classes for my pregnancy with my son and I am proud to say I delivered him completely med free, despite a very long labor. I am giving a little more thought to a homebirth this time (we thought about it last time some) but we have pretty limited resources in our area.
Kiki's Mommy -
Here is a good site for calculations http://womens-place.com/pregnancy/pregnancycalc.php
ETA: I see you joined us, congratulations!
I am now wondering if I was off on my calcs though because my LMP was later than yours but your EDD is earlier. Hmm, I'll have to take another look but I think that 5/16 is the EDD that FF gave me too.
I hope everyone is having a good day!
I have an awful taste in my mouth most of the time(yes, I brush my teeth!LOL) My skin feels oily and I am occationaly nausious... no moring sickness yet, honstly I wish it would come. It would make me feel much better at this point.Well I am glad to know I'm not the only one with the awful taste in my mouth thing, though it has only happened to me once or twice.
I wanted to lyk though, that I did not have m/s with DS, and as you can see he is here perfectly happy and healthy. :)
Welcome to all the new ladies. I am horrible at shout outs but I am reading right along!
I had my first appointment today. Just with the nurse. They changed my EDD to April 27th by my LMP, but I am just going to ignore that. I know I O late and I had a definite temp spike, so I am going by my ovulaltion date. The good news is that:
First ultrasound September 13
I understand why some ladies don't want ultrasounds, but I had a miscarraige in April and it will do a world of good for me to see my bean. My Dr only does them for medical reasons and will not offer/refer their patients for a 3D/4D. I thought that was interesting.
magrat - a MN connection! Yeah! I'm thinking that we might have briefly met but it was a long time ago. The last gtg I made it too was at MOA back in Jan 04 and I was down at the end with all the babies (partial because I go there very late!). I remember there where quite a few folks and it wasn't as easy to visit with everyone at the other end of the table. I fingers are crossed for you with the spotting - it can certainly make things that much more nerve racking. Keep us in the loop and please know that we are all thinking of you!
As for the crunchy side of the world - I'll be interested to learn some new stuff. I'm very much a middle of road person - and lean towards the relaxed side of the world.
Congrats to the rest of newly joined group - it's fun to see it growing!
Well, I joined too soon, it didn't stick. I'm not too upset because I never really believed it could be true and I had serious doubts that it was going to stick. I'm glad to know we can get pregnant without too much trouble, which was my biggest concern, and am confident with a little progesterone supplementation or something we can do it again soon. So no dramatic condolences please, I feel only slightly more disappointed than any other month when AF arrives. I'm confident I'll be following you all soon and hope I am the token drop-out for this thread!
It'll get pretty warm down here in March/April. Plus, I can wear them under sweaters in January/February. What to do, what to do ...
DH came home with blue baby booties the day I got my first BFP. :p
Well, the fatigue hit me big time yesterday and I was in the bed by 9:45pm. I'm so glad today's Friday so that I can sleep late tomorrow! ;)
wow! this thread really moves fast. I have to start trying to log on more often!
Welcome to all the new ladies! Its so nice to see the group getting so big!
Now I am going to try and backtrack and hit all the topics that are being discussed....
"Crunchy"-not exactly sure what this term means. I can guess by all of your replies etc but where did the actual word come from? I guess I would have to say for the most part I am not. With my first I was open to a natural birth but was not going to make myself feel like a bad mother if I ended up wanting to go with the epidural. I ended it up getting the epidural and am glad I did because it really helped me do a total 180. I ended up having a really good labor and birth. Since it was only 7 months ago that I did all this it is still all too fresh in my head. I know that every labor is different and if this time I feel that I can do it naturally I will. I have alot of respect for the women that do. I am just flexible. I really loved everything about my first baby's birth, except the pain:) I loved my doctor, the nurses, the hospital and the way the went about everything. I felt very incontrol and they were all so helpful. So i really dont plan on changing much this time around.
Rico'sAlice- If you don't mind my asking I am interested to hear you reasons for a UB as well as not getting ultrasounds. I am always interested to hear different points of view.
Did I mention that I can't wait to find out the sex of the baby!!! I am going nuts. I have no patience in this field whatsoever. I have all the major baby stuff from last time but I am anxious to find out if I need to buy a new wardrobe for a boy or if we are having another little girl!
I am starting to get m/s here. I am really starting to notice more earlier this time around. I also can tell that I am pregnant. I only weight 110 lbs. and everything in my belly is still probably kinda flexible and ready to strech because I can see a little belly popping out already.
Well I gotta run and get a million things done while DD naps!
Wow, I just realized I missed a whole page a couple pages back.
Oh well.
It's harder to keep up in these kinds of threads once you already have one little one!
Does anyone else have excess saliva as a symptom?
I noticed it really early on (like even before I got a BFP) but didn't know until a little later that it could be a symptom.
With DS I had a chronic stuffy nose.
Well, we told MIL and SFIL last night. I was hoping to get some kind of "good" reaction from MIL but as usual it didn't happen (whole history there I'm not going to get into). She never even said congratulations or anything like that. My gf told me I already know she is "odd" and I just have to live with it but since I don't have a mom to share this kind of thing with it would be nice if she played the role.
Anyway, I def think the hormones have kicked in because I feel weepy about everything!
Soooooooooooo, I just phoned my NEW doctor! Just in regards to my first doc appointment. It is October 13th, and I will be 11w1d then........I wanted to know what to expect.
She said she will be going over our history, sending me for blood, and probably letting us listen to the heartbeat, and depending on where he thinks I am growing compared to my due date, an u/s........
He may also schedule a pap for later, altho I'm not sure when. And then she said every month after that I will be seeing the doctor! I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh this next month is giong to go by Soooooooooo Slowly.........
I'm sorry Magrat.
I must warn, this may get long. TIA for your patience!:o
I'm actually struggling with how far along I am. BabyCenter says 4 weeks, but I want to know 4 weeks and how many days? How do I know when a new week starts? I think I am just thinking about this too hard.:o
Another question: One of the girls I work with just had a miscarriage a couple months ago. She doesn't seem really devastated by it and two days after she found out about it, she was completely herself. She even had to have a D&C and it really didn't seem to bother her too much. What would be the best way to share my news with her? At the same time I make the announcement to everyone else or do I pull her aside ahead of time?
Thanks for your help and advice!!
Sunshine: Yay on the Dr.'s appt.!! I have my first appointment next week on Thursday. I can't wait!!
Sorry for your loss, magrat.
Yolanda, if you are close to the girl, I would probably tell her before I made a big announcement or something. Sometimes people put on a good front about these things, especially in the workplace, so she may have been much more affected by the miscarriage than you know. However, if you aren't that close to her, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I, personally, would feel strange if a coworker that I wasn't that close with made it a point to seek me out with such news. I'm sure whatever you do will be fine. :)
No excess saliva here. I still don't really have that many symptoms. Counting down the days until my 1st appt next Wed.!
Rico'sAlice- If you don't mind my asking I am interested to hear you reasons for a UB as well as not getting ultrasounds. I am always interested to hear different points of view.
Why I want to UC
Just FYI for those who are unfamiliar UC refers to Unassisted Childbirth, or Unattended Childbirth, or it can be UB (unassisted/unattended birth). Some also call it unhindered birthing or free birth. Different people define these in different ways. What I want to have is a birth that is just DH, God, & me. I want DH there to hold my hand, bring me glasses of Emergen-C, etc. I don’t want him to coach me. In my view, I am the one delivering the baby. As to who will catch, that will probably depend on what position I am when the little pooper makes his/her arrival.
Well for me there were a few steps in getting to the point where I was desiring and felt ready to UC.
1st came the realization that I did not want an OB or a hospital birth. Of course, if I was truly having problems during pregnancy that indicated its necessity I would find a way to deal. Of course my definition of this (reason for hospitalization and/or “high risk”) is different than many OBs- for ex. I would not consider StrepB+, frank breach, or twins to be a reason. Lots of OBs would. So I figured that meant HB. Studies firmly show that for low risk mothers that a home birth results in just as good outcomes for mother & child but with far fewer interventions than low-risk mothers that hospital birth. I live very close to the hospital, far closer than their c-section prep time which would the primary circumstance I which an actual doctor & hospital would be needed.
And I know that some people have found OB’s they loved, who respected their wishes and made them happy. And that is great for them. But, no matter what an OB is going to approaching this as a medical event. They are doctors. I’m not sick. I don’t have a problem. So I don’t need to see a doctor. If I have a problem that requires a doctor then I will go to one. In general I would say the same about a certified nurse midwife (CNM)
OK, then why not a lay/direct entry midwife-
Basically for me the possible benefits of having someone with experience on hand are far outweighed by the risks of having them disrupt the natural hormonal balance of birth, distract me from following my intuition and body’s signals, and bursting the post-birth bubble with unnecessary 3rd stage interventions. And it is proven that being observed slows down labor. I won’t consider my DH an observer or attendant, as he will be going through the process with me spiritually. Also, I have sex with him and can go to the bathroom in front of him, the same won’t be true of anyone else.
I’m am not “anti-midwife” I think they are a wonderful option for many people. I also think there is a wide spectrum in the approach midwives take. Some are called “medwives” and regularly do episiotomies, give pit for placenta delivery, etc. I love Ina May Gaskin’s books, but she totally freaks me out- I would hate to have such a hands-on midwife. Other midwives are happy to stay downstairs the whole time and just be on hand “in case.” I just don't have a personal need to have one there and feel there is a decent chance that even a purported “hands-off” midwife will interfere with the natural progression of things.
In reading dozens and dozens of birth stories there were lots of mama’s who had happy HBs with MWs. But despite their overall satisfaction there were still often refrains of “I was happy with my MW, but… my labor slowed down as soon as she arrived/she told me I had to change to a certain position/she insisted that she needed to check my dilation, etc.”
Whereas with the UC stories I read there were no regrets. Even the occasional woman who ended up deciding to transfer during labor was totally happy about the way things went during the home, UC portion of labor and didn’t regret the attempt.
I want to be able to be sensual/sexual with my DH during labor and not worry about getting interrupted or feeling self-conscious. I also have great confidence in my husband. Not in his ability to “do” anything, but rather the opposite- that he will stay calm and trust me. If my husband was more of a worrier, hyper, in the medical profession, anxiety prone, bossy, etc. I could see needing an attendant just to keep him from getting in my way.
RE: Emergencies
In case of a true emergency I am within 5-10 min of the hospital. And knowing myself I will get there way faster UC then if I had a midwife to whom I was looking for guidance, and waiting for her “Expert” opinion. I firmly believe that I will sense something is wrong before there will be outward manifestations.
Many things that others consider medical “emergencies” I have read enough about to feel are “variations of normal.” I feel well prepared to deal with having the cord wrapped around the neck, low temps, PPH, shoulder dystocia, retained placenta, etc. In physical/concrete terms there is really very little a midwife can do that I can’t do myself. That is for me- for some women the sisterhood factor, emotional support, voice of experience, etc. is important and they can benefit from having a midwife in that way. Also, not all women are interested in doing the sort of research I do. FTR- I think that women living in more traditional-birthing societies do not need to do research, but since we have been removed from the birthing process for so many generations and haven’t grown up being aware of our aunts/cousins/friends giving birth we are in a different position. Also, since many of us have been conditioned to think of birth in a medical/crisis-oriented type way (from others moms, doctors, TV shows, etc.) we may need to immerse ourselves in stories of natural, spiritual births to break away from that mind set. I do plan to take a hypobirthing or hypnobabies course to get better at shutting out the outside world and ignoring my neo-cortex so that I can be more in touch with my instincts/inner signals.
I hope that helps explain it a little bit. I get a lot of information from the Unassisted Birth board at mothering.com. Also from Bornfree! (unassistedbirthing.com (http://www.unassistedchildbirth.com/)) There are no real, official statistics on UC. (Who would fund it?) But there are some unofficial, self-selected, self-reported figures at unhindered living http://www.unhinderedliving.com/stats.html
Rico'sAlice
Rico'sAlice- If you don't mind my asking I am interested to hear you reasons for a UB as well as not getting ultrasounds. I am always interested to hear different points of view.
Why I don’t want any routine Ultrasounds
I don’t have loads of persuasive evidence that US is definitely harmful to the fetus.
But there is some.
http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn1670 (http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn1670)
http://www.webmd.com/content/Article/126/116222.htm?pagenumber=1
http://www.mothering.com/articles/pregnancy_birth/birth_preparation/ultrasound-risks.html
I don’t necessarily think we have enough evidence to say they are safe either. Maybe in another hundred years we’ll have figured out more. Just think how long we used X-ray machines in a cavalier manner. If I had a pressing medical need for an US I figure that would outweigh the possible risks and I would get one. But I haven’t seen any evidence that routine US produces better birth outcomes, and so I won’t be getting those.
I also think that they can cause anxiety over problems that “appear” to exist in the US, but are not clear. For example I don’t want some US saying I’m having a 10lber. 1st of all they are often off and 2nd mother’s have an easier time birthing “large” babies when they do not know that they are big. Some thing with defects of which there are often high rates of false positives. I truly trust myself enough to know if something if wrong with the baby, and will deal with whatever comes. I would never consider termination and I already am work with special needs people so I don't feel the need to "prepare" on that front.
In terms of the anecdotal evidence, there are a lot of mothers who report the fetus “running away” from the US wand. That concerns me. I don’t wish to cause my little pooper any distress that is unneeded.
I will be avoiding Doppler heart tone detection/monitoring as well since they work on similar technology (but use constant rather than pulsed high frequency waves so the energy deposited per second is even higher)
I feel happy and confident and am comfortable trusting myself and in God’s plan. I understand why some people feel the need to be reassured by an US, or early heartbeat detection via Doppler. It’s just not something that I feel a need for. As I said before, I am open to knowing the baby's sex ahead of time, but for me it is not a compelling reason to have an US.
I just finally figured out that I am 5 weeks and 1 day. I just got my BFP yesterday, but last week I started realizing that my body temperature was going up in the afternoons. (And I'm in a 65-degree classroom teaching all day). I had a 99-degree temp every day after school this week. That was the first thing (other than no af) that made me start testing. (I took about 7 tests before I finally called it). I also have started getting so hungry that if I don't eat right away, I get cramps in my stomach. Ahhh!
DH was in complete shock yesterday. He completely wore himself tired thinking about us being PG! However, this am before he left for fishing, he finally said "I can't believe you're pregnant! That's so awesome!!" I knew he was happy, he just didn't make it clear (he's never an emotional kind of guy). He even kissed my stomach when he left the house.
BerBer ~ I am so sorry. I hope that physically you are feeling ok. You and your DH are in my thoughts.
I’m pages and pages behind! Oh well there’s nothing to be done about it. My internet is monitored at work and I’m a student at night.
Congrats to all the new additions Rico'sAlice, Kiki'sMommy, Yolanda, KeliAnn and foxyboo751!!
So we told my BIL & SIL last night. SIL was just as thrilled and freaking out as I had imagined :)
We’re waiting a couple of more weeks to tell everyone else.
As far as buying any baby stuff goes, I have been buying an item here and an item there for years. I have a couple of pairs of booties, a hat, a baby sling, and a couple of infant sleepers. I think I’ll hold off buying anything else for a while though.
BerBer~OMG girl.........I am so so so sorry. I dont know exactly what to say.......:( I hope that tomorrows tests bring good news. I'll be thinking of you until we hear from you.
((HUGS))
foxyboo751~Awwwwwwww, so sweet your hubby kissed your stomach!!!!! DH will rub my belly every morning and just smile at me:) heehee! It makes it so much easier when they are as excited as we are!!!!
melody~SWEET! Thanks for the heads up! I've never been to an Old Navy before, but will check anything out on sale;)
Feisty~YAY for BIL and SIL being TOTALLY excited for you:D That is so exciting:D
~Well, so weird! ALL OF A SUDDEN, out of NOWHERE, we have thunder?!?! The forecast says nothing of thunder or rain...so its kind of weird. But its pretty loud and strong!:confused: Crazy!
Today has been the worst for me nausea-wise. I've felt sick all day long........
Food and weight gain has been going GREAT for me! I've been eating more, but eating BETTER! So I havent gained anything yet! (Which is great b/c we are only suposed to gain, what, 2 pounds in the 1st trimester?) Weird tho b/c I went from a 34C to a 36D and no weight gain from that?!?!
But no chips, no cookies, no chocolate, no coffee......for a bit before I found out! So it hasnt been hard yet, and I find I am craving fruits and veggies rather than sweets!
Constipation is getting better, been eating more whole grain foods, and also bought that Almond Oatmeal Crisp cereal! Its SO YUMMY!
What else........Going out of town next weekend, to a MUCH bigger city than where I live. SO I am going to look for some maternity pants, an dpossibly a bathing suit. I've popped right out of my top...so I need something new!
Hope everyone is well!
Sunshine: I wish I could crave good stuff. I crave mainly bad stuff. Ohwell.
Sunshine
09-10-2006, 04:11 PM
Tonysweetie~I crave "bad stuff" occassionally, but opt for something healthier b/c I am so afraid of gaining too much weight:p
I know someone who is due about 10 days after me and she has gained almost 10 pounds already!!!!
Not that there is anything wrong with that, I dont want anyone to get mad, I just dont want to gain alot of weight that will be super hard ot get off after the pregnancy!
If you crave bad, have a little of it, and then grab something else:)
Tonysweetie
09-10-2006, 04:15 PM
Sunshine: I try too but the "good" stuff make my stomach turn. I haven't been into sweets just mainly Taco Bell, lol. The though of veggies and some fruits make my stomach queasy. Werid isn't it? lol. I've gained about 4-5 lbs. so far and Im freaking over it but I really haven't ate that bad to put on that much weight so I chalked it up to boob gain, a little of it being just me. lol.
BerBer-I am so sorry. I am praying for you a DH and hope you get good results at your tests tomorrow.
Tonysweetie-You are NOT alone on the craving bad things! With my first pregnancy in the first trimester I only craved fast food, pizza, cheesesteaks etc. After the first trimester it got better though. I was like you alot of the "good for you" stuff made me sick. I can already feel that happening this time around again!! I also crave wawa coffee (Wawa is a local 7-11 type place only way better!!) it has to be wawa though I cant make it at home! Thats fine though cause I dont drink more than two 8 oz cups a day if that. Every doctor, nurse or anyone else that i have talked to said coffee is only really a problem if you drink it in mass quantities. Like those people who never not have a full cup at any time during the day.
My nausea is really kicking in full boat now. I can't stand it. The worst is in the morning when DD wakes me up way earlier than I want to get up :) At least when I was pregnant the first time I could call in sick if really needed. I cant really do that with DD!!
melody-Thanks for the heads up on the sale. Old Navy is one of my favorites. I got all of my maternity clothes there last time and they were the best. very very comfortable. I get so many clothes for DD there as well. Great prices with or without the sales!
Tonysweetie~Yum, Taco Bell! I wish we had one here! I'd be right there beside you! The closest one is about 2.5 hours tho.........That is one weakness I have:)
How much have you gained in your boobs? So far I have gained 1 cup and 2 inches. OMG! I am afraid to see how much more they grow......
And I didnt mean for what I said to sound mean.......I hope it didnt......
I bought "What to expect when you are expecting" today. I already almost finished with the first chapter. However, while at the dog park, a lady told me not to believe everything I read because each pregnancy is different (I already knew that, but it was nice of her :) ).
BerBer, I am so sorry that you are going through this. I cannot even imagine how difficult all the uncertainty must be.
Cravings - I haven't had any real cravings yet, but I did discover Dulce de leche Oreos, which I am really digging, although I am trying to control myself.
My brother told me this weekend that he and my SIL, who already have 3 kids, just found out they are expecting again. So our kids will be due right at the same time! Very exciting to have cousins exactly the same age, even though we live 2.5 hours apart. The only bad part is that SIL is this slender, gorgeous girl who always looks like the perfect pregnant woman with her cute little belly, and I just know that I will be as big as a house. :rolleyes:
Well, I bought a shirt and a pair of maternity pants at Old Navy today. DH was jealous of the pants; he said he wants some with a stretchy top like that. :p
At least I have a desk job I guess............
Sadie~Oooo, Caramel hey? I LOVE mint but never tried the mint oreos yet either!
Tonysweetie~Well, we are going to Regina this weekend, so maybe if I feel up to it we can have it then:D
So, no nausea, or morning sickness yet. But my gag reflex is really overactive. Having trouble swallowing my vitamins and brushing my tongue.
Since I'm not having any particular food aversions or cravings yet I'm just trying to eat as healthy as possible. Well, according to what I believe is healthy. I'm guessing we don't all buy into the exact same nutrition paradigm, and some people's idea of healthy diet may be almost exactly opposite. I am following something between the Brewer diet http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/ifyouarepregnant/index.shtml and Weston A. Price diet for pregnancy http://www.westonaprice.org/children/dietformothers.html. Except a lot fewer servings than they advise except on the milk. (I've always been a big milk drinker, fortunately the farm where I get it is within 2 miles) But I'm just not hungry enough to eat so many servings per day. I try to keep up with the protein & veggies and if I'm full I skip the grains. I also don't eat as much fat as WAP recommends, but the fat I do eat sticks to their recommendations.
The strange thing is that my CLO (cod liver oil) has started tasting good to me. I've been taking it straight on a spoon for the past few months and really hated it. Had to immediately drink juice afterward to get rid of the taste. Suddenly, I find it delicious. :confused:
Welcome and CONGRATULATIONS!
You know, I am not a fan of the What to Expect book myself. Granted I did have an old edition of it but I really enjoyed the Week by Week book.
Ok Sadie, you are evil. I did NOT need to know that those existed. :p
Sunshine -
Awww...guess you got lucky :rolleyes: because when I was PG with my son I remember reading that most m/s didn't start until after 7 wks.
-------
Alright, am I the only one here who hasn't outgrown her bra yet?
I had very little growth in that dept with DS and we had a very difficult time trying to breastfeed so I am paranoid that is going to happen again and am trying to figure out if the growth of them during pregnancy is related.
Also,
Tell me what you all are eating for breakfast?
I am having a terrible time getting myself to eat in the morning. I have never been a big breakfast person but now it is even worse, nothing sounds good not even my yogurt burst cheerios I had been on a kick with.
I know what I *should* eat, (yogurt with granola, eggs, peanut butter or cheese toast would all be pretty good choices) but I end up eating nothing because none of those appeal at all and I can't really think of anything else healthy.
And I have to figure out a way to like eggs again since those are a big part of the Bradley diet - I stopped liking them a while back for some reason - probably because I ate them so much during my pregnancy with DS. :p
Well for lunch I think I might venture out in the rain and go get Qdoba because I still haven't eaten anything and it's the only thing that sounds good.
Hey thanks Alice, we cross posted just when I was looking for food and diet info.
Oh and I totally forgot about CLO! I didn't know about it when I was PG with DS so I wanted to make sure and do it this time. Don't know if I'll be able to make myself take a liquid form though, (I cannot STAND anything seafoodish) is there a capsule form you would recommend?
Sadie
Alright, am I the only one here who hasn't outgrown her bra yet?
Nope! I have gotten a little bit bigger (oh, and really it's only the left one that has grown, nice, huh? :rolleyes: ), but am still fitting in my bras with no problem.
What is the purpose of taking cod liver oil? I know for a fact that I would not be able to get the liquid version down, PG or not.
As for breakfast, I usually have peanut butter crackers. Not the healthiest thing, but I'm not very hungry in the mornings. I try to eat well the rest of the day. Well, except for the aforementioned Oreos. :o
I have heard that the What to Expect book can really freak you out with all of the potential problems it talks about, so I haven't gotten that one yet. I am already freaking myself out enough about my relative lack of symptoms, so I don't need to add any more fuel to that fire right now!
Steve's Sweety~I know I've read a few different books and some say aruond 6 weeks, some say more. GUess I'm one of the lucky ones.......
My best friend keeps joking about how I may be carrying twins. :rolleyes: Isnt that nice to say :rolleyes: .........
I have outgrown my bra about 1.5 weeks ago..........! I went from a 34c to a 36d!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! Not looking forward to that! LOL!
I found bras at Sears for only $10 tho, so I figure even if I have to buy a few more it is totally worth it b/c it wont cost so much!
It is easier for me to eat breakfast on the weekends. Hubby makes eggs, toast and hashbrowns. But I am having a hardtime eating on demand before I go to work. I tried to eat Oatmeal Crisp for breakfast this morning but couldnt get it down:(
I enjoy all books. I have "WHat to expect when Expecting" and a book I got from Statefarm (That they arent giving away anymore, they have a new one out) called something like "pregnancy and birth"!?!?! Its a REALLY good book and has ALOT of info about pregnancy and labor etc, altho nothing is set in stone, I realize that. But I enjoy reading everything I can get my hands on....problems that may occur etc.
A lot of people recommend the BLUE ICE kind, which apparently comes in capsules. I know a lot of people take Carlson's as well, which is also available in capsules. Both can be found on this page.
http://www.drrons.com/cod-liver-oil.htm
I've been taking Spectrum brand b/c that's what my local food co-op has in stock, but since I started reading more I will probably order one of these other brands. But I have to find out more about the Rosemary Oil in the Blue Ice kind b/c I've also read that is a "herb which can stimulate or irritate the uterus" http://www.mothering.com/community_tools/toolbox/pregnancy_birth/herbs-to-avoid.html. I know that normal culinary amounts are ok, but am not sure how much would be in the CLO. I'll let you know what I find out.
What is the purpose of taking cod liver oil? I know for a fact that I would not be able to get the liquid version down, PG or not.
Basically it is very high in omega-3 fatty acids- EPA and DHA.
EPA is the precursor of important prostaglandins, localized tissue hormones that help the body deal with inflammation; and DHA is extremely important for the development and function of the brain and nervous system.
It will also have Vit. A & D the amounts of these depends on the brand/type you get.
Weston A. Price Foundation has a lot to say on it. They are into Traditional Foods (ie Nourishing Traditions)http://www.westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/cod-liver-oil-menu.html They have a much different take on nutrition, true RDA for certain vitamins, which fats are "good/bad," etc. than the dominant medical model. IMO, there is a certain philosophical outlook/change of thinking necessary to accept the ideas espoused by WAP. They do use evidence and studies to back up their claims, but I think there is also a certain degree to which it is just finding what "makes sense" to an individual. They make the most sense to me and I believe that time and evdence support this way of eating, but it has been a five-year journey getting there. (I used to be vegetarian and ate very low fat, and lots of grains.)
Flaxseed & flaxseed oils in another source for omega-3s. http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/flaxseed.html
Books: I didn't like What to Expect When You're Expecting because I'm trying to maintain a very positive pregnancy, and I don't want to constantly be worrying about every little twinge and cramp. I got The Mother of All Pregnancy Books this weekend, based on a recommendation from a friend, and it is EXCELLENT! One of my other friends is giving me her copy of Your Pregnancy Week-by-Week, which has also come highly recommended.
Boobs: DH has noticed that they've grown, but I haven't really noticed that much of a change. I feel like I have more cleavage, but I'm not popping out of my bras, yet. I'm a 32B, so I'm hoping to grow a little bit! ;)
Breakfast: I haven't had any food aversions or cravings, yet (knock on wood) so I've been eating my usual whole wheat bagel with lite strawberry cream cheese (no worries - it's made from pasteurized milk). I usually have a banana with peanut butter around mid-morning, and then lunch is a salad or my latest favorite - whole wheat pita with hummus and alfalfa sprouts. I feel like I'm eating a chia pet, but it is SO good. :p Pumpkin seeds for afternoon snack and supper is usually whatever hubby cooks. Since we've always been healthy eaters, I haven't had to change my diet very much at all. I just try to down lots more water and a glass of chocolate milk before bedtime.
Yesterday morning, DH made veggie omelettes, and they were DELISH! I ate all of mine and half of his. Mmmm ...
Vitamins: I've always taken Omega-3 pills, so I just keep taking those along with my prenatals.
Boobs- I was already almost popping out of my bra. I am definitely now, and button down shirts are stretching at the top button. Also, I couldn't sleep on my side last night because they were so sore.
Breakfast-Luckily, I haven't been too picky about breakfast. I've been eating waffles w/butter, bagels, english muffins. Of course, come 9:30 when my students had their snack time, I had to break out the strawberry yogurt. (Snack time...my favorite part of the school day other than lunch:))
Vitamins- I was taking flinstone kids while ttc, b/c i hate swallowing pills. I have my first Dr's Appt. Friday, 9/15. I can't wait. I'm sure they will tell me what to do as far as vitamins.
Thanks for the book recommendations. I also was thinking of exchanging "what to expect" for another newer book called "great expectations". It looks more interesting.
Who knows! :) I'm just so excited I can't stop smiling, even when I'm reprimanding my students.
