Steve's Sweety,
Thanks for the welcome!! A Catahoula is a type of herding dog. They are also called Louisiana Leopard dogs, because they have a spotted coat. Anyway, mine is very spoiled because he had an accident last year(I talked about it in the pets thread) and now we just spoil him so much because we are so happy he is still with us.
So, on the whole pregnancy topic, I haven't had any real symptoms yet, knock on wood. The only thing so far is that I am incredibly thirsty all of time. I'm calling the dr. tomorrow to schedule my first appt.

Rangerwendy~Congratulations and welcome!! Here's wishing you a happy and healthy nine months and good luck at the doctor!
Tonysweetie~Good luck with everything. Like someone else wrote, I hope nothing on the thread offended you. Take care.
Steve's Sweetie~The t-shirt was how my brother and SIL told everyone about my neice. It was the cutest thing!! My nephew was about two and a half and was the best lil messenger in the world. No one knew whether to hug the messenger or my brother & SIL first :D!
We actually told my husband's family last night at Rosh Hashanah dinner and they went NUTS. It was really nice that everyone was so excited and happy. We originally were going to wait until the first trimester was over, but we're really excited and everything is going really great, thank g-d, so he wanted to tell everyone. It was great. The funny thing is that, last night, someone already came and put their hand on my stomach (his aunt). Hmmmm. What is it about a pregnancy that makes people want to put their hands on your anatomy..... :P. One of my friends who has a one year old told me that strangers would do it, too. Yikes! :eek: My SIL laughed at me when I told her. Maybe I'll walk around with crime scene tape and drape it around my tummy as it gets bigger to deter "hands on experiences".....just a thought :)
Well, I've written a ton about m/s and something helped me not to wake up feeling pukey this morning, so I wanted to share. I had read that the wrist bands that prevent motion/sea sickness are good for morning sickness because it's based on acupuncture. Well, I slept with them on last night and I woke up without feeling icky! Yeah!! It's about time. Talk to y'all later, k

Tonysweetie - Good luck, and I hope the next 8 months go well for you!
Rangerwendy - Congratulations, and welcome to the thread!
Not feeling pregnant. I was eating some pizza and couldn't finish it b/c I thought it smelled like an animal I dissected in school....but that could all be in my head. I took a nap and woke up uncomfortable on my stomach....but that could all be in my head as well. And my lips are really dry and I'm thirsty...but that could be nothing. I guess I don't have any of the "classic" symptoms - sore breasts, nausea, etc.
I just wish that I knew that little baby was OK. I might call to request another beta tomorrow, or maybe just talk to a nurse about my anxiety. We had such a hard time getting this baby, that I feel if we lose this baby we might not get another chance. Just typing that makes me sad.
I hope everyone has a good night. We're going to a Greek Festival with some friends tonight. They're having a baby in March.

Sorry for no SOs, I'm exhausted and have had 24 hr m/s for the past 4 days. Now is the time for regretting wanting to feel sick. :(
I'm wearing my sea bands and sucking on sour candies. I'm trying to be a good sport, but I know I'm complaining to poor DH all day.

So, I finally started to have some MS. Mine lasts until about 5 pm. I haven;t actually thrown up yet. I just feel quesy and nothing looks appetizing. I end up eating almost all carbs (crackers and toast) I have been managing some applesause. I try to make up for eat by eating lots of protein and vegetables in the evening.
I've also been really tired and am starting to get moody.
But I do appreciate the "feeling pregnant" aspect of it all.

I know how that is!! The seasick bands are helping me right now but if I see another saltine or ginger ale, I'll go postal. If it makes you feel any better, I'm complaining to my husband 24/7 too. Actually, the other day it was pretty funny, I said I didn't feel good :( and then he said, well, he didn't feel good either. I then reminded him that it wasn't about him and probably wouldn't be until I stopped feeling like I was about to toss my cookies at all times :p! He laughed....and then reminded me that it was "a good thing". Yup, it is :rolleyes: LOL

So we're gonna tell DH's parents in two weeks, and I told him about Steve's Sweety's idea on how to tell the in-laws with the T-shirt that says "I'm going to be a big brother!" So, we're gonna try and find one for our DD to wear when we go visit his parents. A fun way to tell! Anyway, guess that's it for now! Gonna go surf the web and look for a shirt! :)

I'm so far behind, so I'll just stick to a few random shout-outs ...
Has anyone had a loss of pregnancy symptoms and have them return...?
I am concerned. For about 4 days before I took a hpt, I "felt" pregnant - nausous, very tried (yawning all the time), yucky, hot, etc.... Took a hpt Tuesday, found out I was pregnant, had beta done on Wed. to confirm pregnancy. Thursday I had no pregnancy symptoms. Friday, none. Had a repeat beta on Friday and my hcg number had doubled. But no pregnancy symptoms this morning either.
Like I said, I am very concerned. Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks!
suzfuzsunflower: My pg symptoms come and go. Some days, I feel absolutely normal, and then other days I feel like I can't get out of bed I'm so tired or sick. This early on, I think it's normal to have them come and go. I didn't get sore boobs until I was in my 5th week, and I'm just now dealing with m/s (@ 6w 4d). When I first found out, I was really tired all the time, then last week I was sleeping normally and feeling good, but then this past weekend I napped the whole time.
Rico'sAlice: I'm the same exact way, now! It started this weekend, and now I feel sick all day long. I'm a little glad for it since I do feel pregnant, but boy does it stink. Hopefully, all the food I've been eating this past 2 weeks will sustain me through it. ;)
LILRTL: I have to admit that's a super cute pic -- even though I'm a Dawgs fan. :p
Congratulations and welcome to all of the new members!!

That's EXACTLY right! :D I'm gunning for you guys to beat them! When do you play?
KeliAnn
09-25-2006, 08:15 AM
Oct 28. I was cheering for UT when you guys played Florida - that was too bad. After this weekend's "barely there" win over Colorado, I'm a little worried.
We play UT on Oct 7, so that should be a good game.

Steve's Sweetie~AWE! Your son and that shirt is JUST SO CUTE:D Thanks for sharing!
LILRTL~Awe, arent you and your son just the cutest:D
Feisty~Aww, sorry you are feeling so sick:( I hope you feel better soon.
emilyln~AWE! Good luck finding one of those shirts! I think it is SUCH a sweet idea!
TOO MUCH COLLEGE TALK, we should be talking about NFL;):D heeheeheeee!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Visited with friends who are due at the end of May....so that was fun. We spent about an hour comparing things:p She has 2 kiddoes already and she was telling me ways she could compare this pregnancy to the one child etc. I wish I had a way to compare!
Other than that, feeling alright I guess........still an all day yucky feeling. And after I eat I feel my worst. Yesterday was probably my worst day so far tho. I keep thinking I need to stay positive b/c I really have it so much less than so many other people. Altho I know I am only 8w4d and there is still plenty of time.........
But yah, having a BAD day today, I am severly pissed at everyone at work, but what do you do.
My tire was flat this morning on my car so I had have DH drive me to work......
Anyways, nuff complaining.......
Thanks for the welcomes ladies!
Steve's Sweety~It's weird, so far this pg has been exactly the same. Which basically means that other than a super late AF, I feel nothing. Could be worse I guess! :p I love the shirt--I did something similar, I'll post pics below.
KeliAnn~ Rumor has it we have a mutual friend in common on LJ. Here's hoping she joins us soon ;)
symptoms~I'm feeling exactly like I did with my son...tired and my boobs hurt. Otherwise not much. Before I tested I was nauseated and super hungry, but not now. I consider myself pretty lucky, knock on wood!
We finally told almost everyone. We made a shirt for my son and used that to email pictures to my family since they are all over the country. Once I tell people at work that I'm pg, then I will start letting him wear his shirt out and about.
Here's a pic--all I did was take a long sleeve shirt he already owned and used iron on letters. Super easy!
ETA--sorry those seem to be HUGE!! If anyone knows how to shrink them let me know. I'm a photobucket novice.
Also--my biggest symptom has been my major attitude :p I hate everyone and everything right now.
LILRTL
Oh I LOVE that shirt, JRose! Where did you get the iron-on letters? I'm so clueless with crafts. :p
LILRTL and Keliann~~Glad to hear some Gator-bashing going on! We're huge Canes fans, even though we're off to a pretty bad showing for the year. Usually, either the Fins or the Canes are doing well, so one cheers us up if the other sucks. Unfortunately, the Fins aren't doing so hot this year. Thank G-d we finally won the game yesterday!!
JRose~That's the cutest shirt and your son is adorable! Has everyone been calling now?
I can't remember who posted something about getting pissed off or having a short temper, but I completely can relate! Since I feel like crapola, I don't have as much patience as I usually do. Last week I was sitting in traffic and I made a sailor sound like a nun! Hmmm. And today, I have real questions about whether or not my partner did serious substances to scatter his brain cells. Y'think I have a shortage of patience :P??!?!??
Anyways, hope y'all are doing well! Anyone feeling sick should REALLy try the seasick bands. They're helping to tone down my m/s. Talk to y'all soon!
KeliAnn
09-25-2006, 12:34 PM
JRose: I'm curious as to who you're talking about. I know of one friend on LJ (she's not on as much anymore) who found out she was pg recently, but I don't know who YOU are, so now I'm wondering if there's someone else that I don't know about! :p That shirt is SO cute!!
karen: Making mental note now to get some of those seasick bands. I haven't actually gotten sick, yet, but I have nausea all.day.long. Ugh.
Sunshine: Nah, NFL is just not as fun as college down here. ;)
------
Attitude: Oh yeah, I have more attitude than usual lately, and I haven't been afraid to speak my mind. Luckily, DH hasn't bugged me too much, but I'm sure it's coming. I keep telling him that our baby's first word is going to be a swear word.
Hello fellow May Mama's!
JRose Love the shirt! That is such a great idea with May 07 on the back :) I think we'll do that for DS when we go visit the family in November.
Karen2324 seabands?? I think I'm gonna try that out. I'm so fed up with the all day m/s already. We just moved to a new home and I can't seem to get off my butt to do anything thanks to m/s plus I get light headed whenever I do too much. No fun.
If anyone has any other tips on helping with m/s and nausea feel free to share. Someone told me that ginger tea would help but I cant stand the taste of ginger:( I didn't have any m/s with DS so don't have a clue.
KeliAnn~:p See, and NFL is SO MUCH better than CFL, so we are happy with that.....Sunday is ALL DAY FOOTBALL day tho. 10am to 8pm.....:D Ahhhhhhhh, gotta love it:D
attitude~I have a MASSIVE attitude. Usually I am this sweet as pie person, Especially at work. Well, I have gotten into it with a few people here at work today. AND stressed to my boss..........
So after my latest "fight" with a coworker, my boss asked me if it was pregnancy hormones, b.c I am Just not acting like myself........
sigh.........
How do I stop?
Well...back from Canada. I had a blast! It was so nice to get away. DH was extremely sweet to me the whole time (it was really wierd, especially because I had some major mood swings). We saw Niagara Falls. He wanted to walk to the side where you have to walk through the mist. I started crying b/c I didn't want to get wet. Pathetic.
The only m/s I've been having is random migraines. Although, the past couple of days when I took the fatty acid prenatal pill, I've felt like hurling. It's like I'm drinking pure fish oil.
We have a cottage in the back of our house and a lady and her 2 daughters rent from us. The youngest is 5. She knew I had a stomach ache so she told me she was going to make me something. I assumed a picture (b/c they are always drawing things for us). She brought me some neopolitan ice cream. It was sooo sweet! That made me feel really good! My tummy is stilll a little nauseaous (sp?) from that fatty acid, but it feels a little better.
So glad to be home!! 1 - 1/2 weeks til my u/s! DH can't wait (Although I can't either :))
JRose - I love the shirt on your little boy! That is such a cute way to spread the news.
We were in such shock that we just told our family. Maybe for the next one we'll do something creative.
I called the dr. this morning and told them that my pregnancy symptoms had disappeared. They said that it could be nothing, or it could be everything - and that I needed to come in for another beta. I am very happy for report that my beta numbers today were over 1,700, which means they almost tripeled since Friday! :) I hope that this will put my mind at ease.
LILRTL~ Thanks :) I am the least crafty person I know and even I found it pretty easy to do. I found the letters/numbers at JoAnn Fabrics. Walmart had some, but they didn't have numbers. Go figure. But I bet any place that sells fabric (Michaels etc) has them.
karen2324~Yup, everyone called us asking "Does this mean what I think it means??"
names I forgot to mention before, our top names at this time are Finnegan, Kirby,Katelyn, Darcy, and Claire. But that could all change at any second!
09-25-2006, 06:16 PM
So we found a shirt on the net for our daughter to wear. It's pink and the front says, "I have a secret" and the back says "I'm going to be a big sister!" in this cute girlie writing. It should be here in enough time for when we go visit DH's parents.
Is anyone else having a hard time believing they're realling pregnant? I took FOUR pregnancy tests! Maybe it's cuz I feel normal, or maybe cuz we haven't been to the Dr. yet. What do I do? I can't afford to take a pg test everyday to prove to myself that I'm pregnant! Ack!
Anyway, enough of my ranting, sorry. I'm so happy to be pregnant, maybe I'm just scared that it won't stick, so I'm trying to psych myself out about it. :( Maybe I just have pg hormones and I need to relax :P I'm glad everyone else is here tho. I love reading what everyone else is going through and saying, "Hey! I do that too! I must be normal!" Hee hee! Have a great day girls!
Hello All:
I don't have an exact due date but my docter is putting me at May 30th
Here are my stats:
Username: jessmaine
Me: Jessica 36
DH: Tom 33
Married: 9/8/01
TTC: 12/03 :(
BFP: 9/23
EDD: 5/30
Gender Prediction: Girl
Any other children: Paige almost 4
I was a little nervous to join as I had a early miss a few about 1 1/2 ago so I am soooo nervous about this one sticking. I feel terrible though, so I guess that is a good thing. With my daughter I had severe MS. I was on Zofran the whole time. I live in Mass with my daughter and the docters handed out the meds like candy and now we live in Maine and the will not give it to me until I am dying:) Lets hope I don't feel as bad with this one. I can tell you that I am sooo mad because I was on a buying trip in NYC and finally gave in a bought $$$$$ jeans.. It figures that I will not be able to wear them. I am still carring the extra 20 lbs from Paige UGGGGGGGG
I had to spill the beans to my family today as they live in the same town and they will all know the minute a turn down a drink :)
Heres to a healthy and happy 9 months girls :)
Jessmaine~Congratulations!! Wishing you a h & h 9 months!
Suzfuzsunflower~Congrats on the good news!!
Good morning everyone. Well, I think I'm going to mention something about the attitude thing again. Yesterday, my partner did some things that really made me wonder where his head was. When we were talking I knew he was chalking it to pregnancy moodswings, so I warned him not to say it or I'd hit him.....:P. Y'think I'm suffering from mood swings??
Anyways, last night I got a little scared b/c I had some stomach pains. I went to the bathroom and I was fine...it was probably b/c I hadn't eaten in awhile, but it was still pretty scary. It was the first time anything like that happened, but I had a lot of stomach issues/pain before I got pregnant, so it could've been something like before. I just keep praying that everything will be okay with my pregnancy and try to do everything I can to ensure that. Hmmmmm. For those of you that are not first-timers, these fears do end eventually. don't they?????
LILRTL
For those of you that are not first-timers, these fears do end eventually. don't they?????
Yes... and no. ;) These end, and new ones emerge. Pregnancy is one big scary/nerve-wracking time. But I can say with 110% certainty that when you hold your baby in your arms, it is all so totally worth it. Every ache, every pain, every worry, every tear... every everything!
Yep - I'm a walking Hallmark card! :p
TTC: not!
BFP: 09.23.06
EDD: 05.31.07
Gender Prediction: Girl
Any other children: Alexander Matthew, 01.22.06
We already told our families and a few close friends. We bought Alex a shirt that says "I'm going to be a big brother" that we'll have him wear for everyone else - probably send as a picture. I can't wait to get it!
We were totally not planning this at all so I'm a bit shocked. I never planned on having two kids less than 18 months apart but here we are... scared, nervous but VERY excited & happy to have another little one running around. :)
My EDD is between 5/30 and 6/1 so by the law of averages, I picked 5/31. We'll see what my OB says at our first U/S on 10/16.
Names: so far none really. DH is vying for Anastasia (his grandma's name) but that's really long but then again so is Alexander! We'll see. I like Catherine for a girl (his grandma's middle name) and Benjamin for a boy. We've got a few months to decide ;)
Wendy -
Ah, thanks for the description. I will have to try to remember to go check out your furbaby's story.
We have 2 doggies living with us and one that lives with MIL.
Wanted to say congrats to all the May mommies, and a special shoutout to Steves Sweety. We were in LIW together on WC back in the day!! :DAw, thanks R! :D
Emily -
Glad to see you found a shirt. I had run across that one and thought it ws cute. Would love to see a pic of your DD in it.
JRose -
That's funny because so far I have more differences than similarities with this pregnancy. It will be interesting to see whether we are having the same or different sexes this time around. My diff symptoms are part of the reason I swear this is a girl. ;)
Chicksinger -
Aw, what a cute pic!
BTW, I love the name Finnegan because I really really really love the nickname "Finn". However, it sounds pretty bad with our last name, as do a few of the other names I really like.
Welcome and congratulations to Jess & Ali!
-----------
I will be having my 1st appointment (tomorrow) Wed, 9/27. It is just a history and maybe she'll order my bloodwork.
Other than that I am so glad to have this group. I belonged to one on WC while I was PG with DS and I am still in touch with several of the ladies on there, it was so neat to go through this with them. </End mushiness>
BIL and his family are flying in tonight from CA to visit for a few days. They have a little boy 17 days older than DS and she is also PG with #2, due in March. I can't wait to see the boys together.:D :D
Still having a lot of all day queasiness here, though my appetite has gotten a little better. Not sure if that's a good thing or not though because with DS my sweet tooth completely went away and yesterday I just had to make a batch of no-bake cookies and eat several of them. :o
I may have to try the sea bands. Any rec's as to where to get them, and can someone explain how/why they work?
Karen: I'd like to agree with LILRTL. You do stop worrying about some things. After the first trimester, you stop worrying so much and start daydreaming more. But towards the end, you want the baby out cuz you feel it's just safer having them outside than in! Ha! It's a no-win, gotta-love-it, hang-in-there-cuz-it-only-gets-better, situation. Just try not to worry, even tho it's killer hard. :)
I just want to thank everyone for all of the reassuring things y'all said! The stomach pains were similar to ones that I had prior to being pg, so I think that's all it was, but it was nice to read all of the things y'all wrote. You rock!! :) It's funny, my brother keeps telling me that my worrying has just begun. He told me when my nephew was born, he kept going in the nursery just to make sure he was breathing. Hmmmm. And here I though parenting would be a cakewalk ;)
Aligirl~Welcome and here's wishing you a H&H 9 months!
Wendy -
I may have to try the sea bands. Any rec's as to where to get them, and can someone explain how/why they work?
I got mine at Walgreen's, but they should be at almost any drug store. My understanding is that they work based on the concept of acupuncture. There are white buttons on the bands that are placed on your wrists. The buttons push on your wrists and alleviate the motion sickness or nauseau. It was funny, I had a meeting this afternoon with a client so, right before I left my house, I took the bands off because I didn't want him to see them. Well, on my way down there I almost had to pull over to the side of the road because I felt like I was going to toss my cookies. :eek: I put them back on and I started to feel better, but I'm not going to say that the bands make me feel 100%, they just sort of take the edge off the nauseau. Unfortunately, I still threw up this morning. I can't wait till the second trimester starts!!
Anyways, hope y'all have a good night!
i just wanted to post a response to those who are asking if the worry gets better in the second trimester. It will get better, but then you will start to worry about others things, although it is not nearly as intense. I really enjoyed my second and third trimester. Of course the second time around, I am so tired from chasing a toddler, I barely have time to worry. It is like I told my sister, I just trust that my body knows what to do. God made us to do this, so I am trusting that He will get me through it! By the way, you will be MUCH MUCH MUCH more worried about that baby when it is born!!! I figure the time spent worrying about the baby in utero is really good practice for what is to come!
Good morning, May Mommies! I am working today for the first time since my BFP. I am not sure if I'm going to tell people yet or not. Maybe I'll wait until after my first appt next week. I am really bad at keeping secrets, though, so we'll see. I am still having slight AF-like cramping, but I haven't had the sharp pains since Monday, so that's good. Yippee, I'm 5 weeks today! :D
L&D Nurse~YAY for 5 weeks today:D:D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible sore throat.....Hubby went and got me a glass of water, which only temporarily helped. But it was still sweetof him. After I layed back down, my nose started to run..........sigh......
Feeling a bit better "cold wise" but my nausea is still going on strong.......
I kept dreaming last night that i was having twins. It was the old going in for an u/s and then finding 2 babies, or me going in to hear the heartbeat, and him finding 2 extra heart beats.....OMG.........:eek: That freaked me out! LOL!
Hope everyone has a great day today!

Sarah6690~Usually it is someone like yourself who would start the gruop. I was an early May due date so I went ahead and started the thread....I did get help from another CCer, but I could PM you with all the info if you like! If not, I am sure one will be started very soon!:D
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When is your due date?

I am not completely having m/s...however, whenever I go to take my prenantals (there are 2 vitamin and fatty acid capsule), I think about the smell of the fatty acid pill (fish) and it makes me sick. In fact, I haven't even taken it yet today because I've been anticipating the taste all day and wanting to hurl cause of it. I can only take it with a really thick juice (like grapefruit).
Also, when I'm eating, if I drink water...the first sip tends to come up in one of those (**TMI ALERT**) throw-up burps. After that it's ok, but it's really gross.
DH is getting excited. He is already calling the baby son. Although I know that he would love either. It's so cute and makes me feel great!
Are any of you first-timers being pressured to be stay-at-home moms? My mother is pressuring me into and trying to figure out anything I can do to SAT. Ahhhhhh!!!:eek: I'd love to if I could. But I know that there's no possible way right now. Maybe for baby number 2.
Sorry, didn't mean to write a novel!! Just frustrated! Off to watch A Baby Story. :) :)

foxyboo751~I read in one of my pregnancy books to not drink and eat at the same time to help with nausea and m/s. Not sure how true that is tho, as I dont drink when I eat anyways......
That is so sweet about your DH calling baby "son"...
While I would love to SAH, I dont think it would be the best thing for us right now. If I can get my photography business up and running, I will do that, as it would mostly be during the evenings and on weekends, when DH would be home....then I would be a P/T work/stay at home mom....but the extra money would really help, we just dont make enough money for me to stay home. Altho I know we make more than a normal family around here......
I think it would be GREAT to do it for sure. But I am thinking more along the lines of being a SAHM when we have 2, b/c with the cost of daycare, it wouldnt be worth it for me to work, I would practically be paying for daycare......I might as well do a few jobs on the side to make the same money. I think everyone needs to do what is best for them and the family, not what other people think is best!
What does yuor hubby think?

Does anyone feel like a emotional wreck? I feel sooo overwhelmed and I am so nervous all the time. I wonder if anyone else feels like this all the time.
I have been having slight cramps and they freak me out but I do know that they are normal. UGGG
I think most of my stress stems from my younger sisters health. Last year around this time she has a parasite, the parasite in turn attacked her central nervous system. She was a mess. All her major functions started shutting down. She is very slowly getting better. Apparently nerve damages can take years to heal itself. But she has had staph infections, blood clots ect. You name it and she has had it. So I am always obsessing over her heath. I mean if she is flushed I immediately think she has a fever which equals staph. She has been on the mend but she still has her issues and I just get nuts about it. Has anyone dealt with this type of thing. I know I have to take care of myself but I just can't stop worrying and obsessing about her health.
Any kind of advice on any coping stratigies would be greatly appreciated.

Sunshine ~ DH also thinks/knows that we can't afford it right now. Although I know he'd love for me to be able to stay home (I think he thinks I could keep the place spotless then), we just both know it's not possible. However, since my b/f is also PG and due 2 weeks later, the 2 of us have been trying to think of businesses we could maybe run together so that we could both SAH. Who knows!?!? Maybe when it gets closer, there may be something more possible.
jessmaine ~ I feel you on the emotions! I have been crying at the wierdest things, then one minute later yelling at my dog to leave me alone (when all he wanted to do was console me :)) My greatest fear is for someone to get sick in the family. Also, my lil' brother is a marine and his wife is expecting in Dec. I'm always worried that he's going to get called off and she's going to be left alone. I cry about it when I don't even realize that I'm thinking about it. I hope your sister gets better. Will keep her in my prayers.

Foxyboo751~I have definitely had people say things to me about not working once I have kids....and that's without them even knowing that I'm pregnant!! My MIL used to say the same things about me quitting my job when I had kids b/c I travel a lot for work during certain months of the year. The funny part is that my husband would tell her that he wanted me to keep working b/c I've finally gotten to the pt where the $$ is good :D! He was just kidding of course, but the pt must've gotten across b/c before I found out I was pg, my MIL told me that she thinks it would be good if I kept working once I had a family. Hmmmm. Something about subliminal...or more overt....messages! Seriously though, people definitely have and continue to say things but I simply tell them it's not an option right now. I am fortunate that from Mid-May to October, my job is really slow, travel is minimal, and I rarely go into the office. But I travel a great deal from October through May. The job is too good to leave and I can't see myself staying at home all the time. It's great for some people (my SIL is a SAHM and GREAT at it), but not for me. It'll just be important to have people around me to help. I was with my MIL today and we were talking about my travel from October-February, where it's usually one night/two days a week. She offered for the baby to sleep over, if necessary, since my hubby's in the restaurant business and sometimes his hours suck. Like they say, it takes a village.....
Jessmaine~I feel you on the out-of-control emotions. I tear up at almost anything and curse like a sailor when I'm driving. My poor hubby must think that he married Cybill :)! Oh well, it'll get better I hear. I think my mood will be better if I can get over the m/s.
Sunshine~Colds stink right now. I have had a lingering cold for the past three weeks (sore throat first, then just a nasal drip) and now it's a full blown sneezing, stuffy nose, blah feeling. The bad part is that it's making the m/s even worse because (sorry for the graphic description) but the nasal drip is making me gag. Hmmmm. Maybe this will be good for some flowers from my husband :D
Well, my OB's office called today with the results of one of the blood screens and I found out that I'm a carrier for cystic fibrosis. My husband's going in tomorrow morning for the blood test to make sure that he's not a carrier too. He was pretty freaked, so I told him that we really don't have anything to worry about. The chances of us both being carriers is very slim since no one in either family has ever had CF, plus, even if both of us are carriers, there's only a 25% chance that the baby would have it then. He understood and was okay when I told him that, especially when I added that only around 1,000 people of all ages have CF in the State of Florida. (One of my clients is a CF-related Foundation, so I know some stuff about the disease). It's funny, I really try to reign in the needless, baseless worrying because it don't, it will really get out of hand! :p But with my emotions lately, that might change tomorrow :)
Anyways, sorry for the novel, but it feels good just to write everything down! Talk to y'all later! k

SAI vs. work - I plan on staying at home with the baby if possible. I am a teacher, and usually work from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. with 2 hours of work per night. I really hope it works out so that I can do this!
karen2324 - Sorry that you are a carrier for CF. As you said, most likely your husband isn't a carrier. Keeping my fingers crossed....when will you find out the results?
My appointment has changed to Oct. 5th. My ultrasound was supposed to be on the 9th, but I really need to be at work that morning, so they moved my ultrasound up - I will be about 6.5 weeks, and they said they should be able to hear the heartbeat. :)

Suzfuzsunflower~Thanks for the good thoughts. Michael (my husband) is going in to get tested tomorrow morning and should probably get the results in about a week. I'm sure it'll be fine...the percentages are in our favor. I think there are a lot of genetic diseases that Jews are screened for so, being that we're both jewish, we're bound to hit on something! Good luck at your appointment on the 5th. We had our first ultrasound last week (I was 6 wks.) and we got to hear a heartbeat and it was really cool! We have another u/s on the 12th to confirm the due date so I'm wondering if "Bob the Blob", as my OB calls him/her, will have changed.
May I join:

clzj: of course you can join, and glad to have you here! i lurked the november 05 mommies thread the entire time (i was pregnant then also but never joined the thread). we were all so devastated by your loss, but am so glad to see you here. congratulations!
So I totally freaked out at my husband tonite for not going to get the pizza on time. He left to go get it and I cried for about 5 minutes....over pizza... ACK. I am a psycho woman. Everything was fine after that, though he kinda tiptoed around me for a while after he got home (who could blame him?) but he's a good guy, and very forgiving. The pizza, by the way, was soooo good.
I am sick too, so that doesn't help. Sore throat, coughing (the kind that hurts), achy, lazy feeling...I hate it. DH and DD are sick too, but I think I'm the worst luckily, since I stay home anyway.
And speaking of staying at home: I agree that it's not for everyone, and I don't judge anyone who wants to or doesn't. But speaking for myself personally, I am a SAHM and though it does require some sacrifices on our part related to standard of living, I think it's totally worth it for the time I get to spend with our kids. We know who's raising our kids and what they're learning, and that's important to us. And I just love being with my daughter all day. I get the chance to really KNOW her in a way even her dad won't because he doesn't get to see her as much as I do. And I treasure those moments and this time...it's awesome. Hard sometimes, but totally awesome. :)
Anyway, enough of my soapbox! I hope everyone is having a great day! I know the m/s sucks, just hang in there! And if psycho-pregnant-lady rears her head in your house like she did in mine, come share it here! That's what we're here for!

Ughhhh! I haven't really had any m/s yet, but this am I just feel like #$%&*@! My stomach feels wierd, I can't eat my breakfast cause it's turning my stomach more and I just want to go back to bed. :(
I made egg salad last night because I was craving it. Plus, having no groceries in the house right now, I needed something for breakfast for this am. However, ewwwww. I just don't feel like eating it! I want to so bad because I know it's really good, but my stomach just won't let me.
Now I have to go and teach all day and tutor for an hour after that! :( Oh well. At least when I get home maybe I will be able to take a nap.
***Thanks for all your advice on SAH. I only wish there was an easy solution. Maybe my b/f and I will be able to come up with some business we can run together while our babies are sleeping (lol). We'll see!!

I'm 9 Weeks today!!!!!!!!!! I cant believe I have made it this far! YAY:D
I'm feeling even more sick today. Was up most of the night b/c my nose wouldnt quit running. I have this TERRIBLE taste in my mouth and in my throat. Phlem is making me gag, it was almost impossible for me to brush my teeth this morning. But of course, here I sit, at work...........ugh.
Drinking my milk, gonna get better, drinking my milk.......
I finally gained some weight....I weigh myself every week. I knew I would b/c my butt and belly seem to be getting bigger......Gained 2 pounds so far. Not bad......I know its only the start:p
foxyboo751~I hope you and your friend can think up something to do. What about your own dayhome? My GF is doing that right now....
I hope your stomache settles, at least so you can get through the day!
karen2324~That is TOTALLY me with the whole nasal drip. And no, not TMI:D Its great to know when you arent alone!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry about finding out you are a carrier for CF, but everything you said is exactly what I read too. Whats even better is you know someone who is involved in the foundation, so you can get even more info if needed! Good luck to your hubby!
suzfuzsunflower~Thats great your u/s was moved up! I cant wait tohear my baby's heartbeat!

Sorry I haven't been around much - I've been sick sick sick. Morning sickness, my foot. More like all day sickness. Blech.
SAH vs working: (Not that SAH isn't working!) I will be a SAHM once our little squirt comes. We may have to adjust a little as far as *ahem* my shopping habits *ahem* ;) and eating out, but it's what I really want. I have no problem with moms who work full-time, the majority of my friends are working moms, and there's a big part of me that will miss my job. But it's just not for me. And I feel very blessed that DH's job allows me to be able to stay at home. I also do freelance marketing for another company, so I plan to continue doing that for extra $$, but I'll be able to do that from home.
Anyway, welcome to the group clzj! I hope you have a very happy and healthy 9 months!

To catch up a little, the only people that know are people at work because I was so sick for like 2.5 weeks they would have figured it out anyway. I am hoping to get an ultrasound at my Dr. Appt. then mail it to our parents in a "World's Best Grandparents" frame or something equally cheesy :p
I was feeling icky for a long time, now I feel about 85% normal. I'm just a little more tired than I was before and nauseos every so often.
I'm glad there's already a group together for this, but man there are a lot of posts for me to catch up with.

KeliAnn & LILRTL -- I do love a good gator hater... I went to FSU, so it's required by law that we always want the Gators to lose. I was bummed out by Tennessee's loss as well. After I found out that the Good 'Ole Rocky Top is the number one annoying song to a Gator, I just want to sing it all the time! It's hard to hate the Gators and live in Jacksonville, though. This is a Gator town.

Holy moly - I could have written so many of your posts with how I'm feeling. Just pooped chasing a 2 year old (who just doesn't want momma to take a nap on the couch at all!), cold from hell that just doesn't want to die, cranky, emotional, worried, struggling with keeping a secret, and actually a bit more nauseous than I would like to be.
Oh well - at least when I look at my DD - it reminds me it is all worth it. I don't get it how my body has a freakin' clue what to do but it amazes me everyday that it does and I have such little control of it but I just have to keep up faith that it all works in the end!
Work for me has gone nuts. I love the company I work for but we are just in a very weird spot with our sales and a recent "expense reduction" round that people are just jumping ship left and right. Including my worst nightmare - one of my teammates so is the knowledge god with what we do. And guess who is going to end up faking at filling his shoes? Yep - that's me. I did go to my boss and make my demands already of what a need to be able to survive this but didn't tell him yet that I'm expecting. I did drop a hint that I do expect to take at least a month off next summer - I can't wait to tell him that it is really going to be 3 months! :D
So all of you with lots on your plate - wait a second - it's all of us! :) At least we have each other!
I forgot to say when I joined yesterday that we have told no one. Also I do not know if we will use any of the names from a year ago. We haven't talked about that. I don't even know when we are going to tell anyone. If we use names from last year the girls would be Jasmine Lee and the boy would either be Xavier or Ezera.

Wow ladies!!! I've been MIA lately and have had a lot to catch up on! I am 6 weeks now and other than having REALLY sore and large BB's I'm feeling fine. I 've found I get a little sleepy towards the afternoon, more so than before. I also had to change my first appt. to Oct. 19 instead of the 4th......bummmer!!!! My insurance changed and dropped the doctor I was suppose to see, but atleast they told me before I showed up!!!!! So now I have to wait even longer to tell my parent (my dad just retired and I want to send him a ultrasound picture as a gift!)
Anyhow, about the whole SAHM question......I am also lucky enought to be able to afford staying at home with our child. I currently work but I figured that as soon as I'm either a) unable to function or b) sick 24 hrs a day I will quit. I'm really hoping I can work all the way through, as the extra money allows me to buy fun baby stuff!!!! I won't get on a soapbox about SAHM's but I know my mom was home for me and I think it made a big difference in my life and our relationship, so we are going to make every effort to offer the same to our little peanut!
On to another topic.....besides the typical foods (sushi, soft cheese, etc) what have you ladies changed in your diet or lifestyle? For me, the biggest adjustment has been wine (I lived in Italy for several years, and now I manage a large wine operation), I'm around it 24/7 and I miss the occasion glass with dinner! I would like to try that alcohol removed wine but it still has .05% alcohol in it, so I'm leary! I also heard to not paint your finger/toe nails while in your first trimester, so as silly as it sounds....I haven't!!!! Ladies???
I'll stop now!!! Happy and health 9 months to everyone!!! Have a great weekend!

I have a friend who is 7 weeks pregnant, and she had a spotting scare the past 2 days. She went to the emergency yesterday and they gave her an u/s to see the baby etc. Anyways, they couldnt see the heartbeat. Thats normal right? It could have been too early....right?
Anyways, she is going back for another u/s next Thursday to make sure the baby is growing etc.......so I hope everything is okay.
cold~Well, I used to get a cold for 3 days. Not that bad the 1st day, SUPER BAD the 2nd day, and then not that bad the 3rd day. Well, this is day 3, and OMG I just keep getting worse and worse. I know the immune system is concentrating on baby right now so I assume this is why I am seeming to be sicker longer, but ugh. When you cant take anything. What do you do?
What are you all doing other than taking showers and cuddling up in a blankie (well, then uncovering b/c you are hot, then covering bc you are cold, and then off/on/off/on:p)
I have some peppermint tea, but I'm not a huge peppermint person. HELP!
what have you ladies changed in your diet or lifestyle?I dont eat chips, drink pop or coffee. I eat WAY more fruits and veggies. Drink milk and a TON of water.
I MISS MISS MISS my wine..........but in regards to the question Monty asked about the 0.5% wine....we had friends over for supper on the weekend, and they are HUGE beer drinkers. She was drinking O'Doules, which I guess is a 0.5% beer. I wouldnt do it personally, but then again, I dont miss drinking beer, and feel I can hold off until the baby is born. But she is pregnant with her 3rd child, and has done it in the past, and said her doctor asid it was fine.:confused: So maybe ask your doctor if you arent sure? Even my hubby said he thought it would be okay..........I just dont want to chance it.

When i was pregnant with Alex, I drank small amounts of coffee (maybe a cup or two a week), had the occasional O'Douls, and on occasion drank a Coke/Pepsi... and he turned out fine. When you're pregnant, there are things you should avoid, but if you really want to eat/drink something, keep in mind that moderation is best. If you want an O'Douls or the .5% wine, have one, but only one. You know? If I want coffee, I'll have some, but not more than 8ish oz a day.
As far as a 7 week ultrasound, I remember seeing Alex's heart beating away when we had his last june... taht's not to say your friend isn't fine. The machine may just not have been able to pick it up. It's pretty early to see/hear it.

Sunshine and Aligirl: I agree....I'm so nervous about doing anything wrong I just don't even think I would enjoy drinking something that COULD possibly be dangerous!!! What have you ladies changed in your diet or lifestyle?
I drank maybe 2 - 3 regular cups of coffee a week until m/s hit, and I've had a couple of sodas. I haven't had wine or beer since I found out, and I probably won't drink any. I've had 2 tuna salad sandwiches, but I've stayed away from deli meat. Lately, I've been drinking a ton of water, milk and gatorade. We had a healthy lifestyle before I got pg, so we didn't really have to change much. I already ate lots of fruits and veggies. I'm just trying to resist my latest craving for fish sticks and tater tots. :p
Sunshine

KeliAnn~Are fish sticks bad? I just bought a box of them b/c I was craving them something feirce the other day:p
aligirl~Thanks for the info. I am really worried for my friend, things just arent adding up for when she found out, and how far along the doctors are telling her she is. I am super worried about her......
Monty~What is so worth it, the mouthwash, or the 9 months;)
I am like you, I have stopped doing so much b/c I just worry. Altho the more and more I read and the more people I talk to the less worried I get.
I wish there was a handbook to pregnancy. Like a real one, that EVERYONE goes through. Wouldnt that be SO MUCH EASIER? LOL!
Hope everyone has a greatday. I wish I was able to go home, but no luck....Oh darn, just remembered something I was suposed to do...Gotta go.

lifestyle/diet changes~ I have taken an afternoon nap every day since I found out I was pg (except for when I worked on Wednesday). What to Expect says that the pregnant body is working harder at rest (in some respects) than a non-pregnant body while mountain climbing, so I am taking that to heart and resting as much as possible! I am also increasing my caloric intake a little bit, drinking lots of water, avoiding caffeine, sugar, and alcohol, trying to eat a snack every 3-4 hours, and trying to eat more fruits and vegetables.
I'm still cramping a little bit on and off, sometimes it feels like menstrual cramps, other times its just like pressure or a stretching sensation... anyone else experiencing this???

diet/lifestyle changes The hardest part is no wine or sushi. I do still eat goat cheese, but only from sources I know and trust. I do heat up deli meat for sandwiches. I occasionally have a cup of half-caf coffee, but no soda. I'm mored tired and sleepy, but I'm trying to keep moving for as long as I can.
cramping I've been having some twingey moments, and some that feel like stretching or pulling. Enough to notice and be a little uncomfortable, but not enough to worry.
We're telling my dad and step-mom tomorrow, when we have an early b'day celebration for Zach. Then FIL arrives from PA on Tuesday and we'll tell him. That will be all the parents, so then we can spread the news more widely. Last time, we didn't tell anyone at all until we saw Zach's heartbeat at 7w, but this time, we figure we are going to tell the family either way, since they should know what we are going through. (We tell our families pretty much everything.)

diet/lifestyle changes
When I was pregnant with Paige all I could eat was greek salads, so I did eat feta. I forgot last night and had some freah tuna, not the best idea but...... I also drank coffee, 1 cup a day. This pregancy I don't feel too sick yet so I have had coffee as well. I don't think one cup with hurt:). The headaches from stopping caffine cold turkey was worse than MS for me and I am not ahuge sold /coffee drinker.
Cramping: I have had a little and it is freaking me out a little. I feel totally different with this pregnancy, which scares me a little. I was sooo sick with my DD that I was in and out of the hospital the whole time. This time a feel a little gross when I wake up and that is it. I guess we will wait and see.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. It is such a beautiful time of year in Maine.
With Isaiah I had an occasional glass of wine. I will probably do the same. It seems that I am getting food adversion from dairy. I had this with Isaiah but it didn't start until I was 13 weeks. I am only 7weeks now.

Lifestyle Changes:
Movement: I have been told not to carry/life more than 15 pounds, and no strenuous exercise.
Food: I didn't drink coffee before, so that isn't a problem. I'm not drinking soda anymore (aside from occasional swig of DH's), no more lunch meat, trying to eat more healthy food...what is wrong with tuna, btw? Is it because of the possible mercury in the fish?
Ultrasound is next Thursday. I'm very anxious about it. We have friends who did not see a heartbeat at their ultrasound back in March, and ended up having a miscarriage. They are now 14 weeks along in another pregnancy, but I know that they still feel a loss from the first baby and still think about it. And we have other friends that this happenned to just 2 months ago. So I am a little concerned, and will just be relieved when we see that beautiful little flitter on the screen!
Cramping: Occasional twinges, pulling - and some gas pains. :o
Have a good weekend! :)

I've had a little cramping this morning, but no blood. I called my doctor, and they are going to do an ultrasound this Monday at 8:15 a.m. just to make sure that there is a sack and everything looks good. It's questionable as to whether we'll see a heartbeat at 6 weeks.

Sunshine ~ I hope that everything is alright with your friend. I've been on bedrest since Friday afternoon as I started bleeding heavily. I had to leave school and go to the ER. I also had an u/s, however the tech said that I measured at 7 weeks (my edd says I'm 8). We were able to see the heartbeat. Your friend needs to go to her regular Gyn for a re-check to make sure.
They told me I had a subchorionic bleed. (**TMI ALERT) I was bleeding like a period, but with no cramps, tissue or clots. They told me that as long as I don't have those 3 things, I should be fine. Bleeding finally stopped Sat. am, but it scared the you know what out of me and DH. I don't think I've ever seen him that way. The good new is...baby iss viable and Heartbeat was 149 which is normal. We also got to see him/her. (I think it finally made it real to DH). My BF who is also PG came too. I'll be on bedrest at least until Tuesday when I see my Dr. I'm hoping I will be able to go back to work on Wednesday or at least by next Monday. Bedrest is SOOOOOOO boring!
Oh yeah, and probably my whole school knows by now. Oh well!! At least I don't have to try and hide it anymore.
Sorry for the novel :):)

foxyboo751 - my thoughts are with you - I hope all goes well with your appointment.
As for bedrest - I have more respect for anyone who has had to go through or is going through it. My cold that didn't want to go away knocked me out completely for 2 1/2 days - turns out I had strep throat and tonsolitis (sp?). I'm glad my dh finally made me go in - I was just too wiped out to make any decisions.
I'm finally starting to believe this real - my first ob appt is only a week away - Oct 9.
Have a good rest of the weekend everything and I'm sending happy healthy thoughts to everyone!

I'm kinda surprised that any of you want to eat sushi. The thought of it just makes me want to lose my breakfast... I have mostly stopped eating lunch meat -- I've had a few subs, but they are always hot subs, so I think it is ok. I haven't had caffeine in weeks and boy do I ever miss it! I stopped, mostly, eating nutrasweet because it's not natural and that kinda weirds me out. I'm not a heavy drinker, so stopping the alcohol was no problem. I try to eat well, but I just don't really have the energy to put together tasty, nutritious meals. I'm pretty exhausted most of the time. I've seriously cut back on the amount of time I spend in the gym, mostly because of the exhaustion, not so much because I'm worried about the baby. I stopped eating blue cheese and feta cheese (I was on a SERIOUS blue cheese kick before I found out I was knocked up). But, I've replaced them with cheddar, so it's not been that hard. I'm drinking more milk and my fingernails appreciate it. I'm also eating a lot more refined products, which is bad, but whole wheat stuff tastes really nasty right now.
Does anyone else have a really nasty taste in their mouth after they eat? I mean, WHILE I'm eating stuff tastes normal, but afterwards, it just is gross.

foxyboo751~See, and the biggest thing about my friend was she thought she was ALOT further along too.....so that was a bit worrysome too. She does have another u/s this Thursday so I am just hoping that everything works out for them...
I'm sorry about the bleeding. You must have been so terrified! I am SO GLAD that everything is okay tho! What GREAT news~
gf&js~That is so great your first appointment is coming up soon! I thought you maybe wrote down the wrong date at first since the 9th is our Thanksgiving, but then I remembered that it is only TG in Canada:o
My 1st appoint is that Friday! The 13th:D I'm so excited!!!
L&D Nurse~I hope you get to see your little munchin too:D
~Well, feeling okay I guess. Not m/s sick, but not 100% either......I have this terrible taste in my mouth. And brushing my teeth 10 times a day certainly doesnt do anything:p
I also have this gross feeling in the bottom of my stomach..........sigh. But at least the double digits are almost here! I cant believe it has almost been 10 weeks!!!!!!!!!
We have a long weekend this weekend b/c of Thanksgiving! TOTALLY looking forward to that. I feel like I didnt get enough rest this weekend......
Hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!

maniach: with my first pregnancy, every time I finished eating, I had to chew gum or brush my teeth...every time! food (especially sweet stuff) left the nastiest taste in my mouth! that lasted the whole pregnancy, too, but it stopped once I had her. Not looking forward to that again. And that's funny about the taste of whole wheat stuff...I'm going through the same thing! Even imagining eating whole wheat (which is what we normally eat around here) just makes me sick...ack. So, you're not alone, but I don't have anything really helpful to say about it either :)
I am still sick! Will this cold never end? DH is sick still too, but DH seems to be getting better. I'm still stuffed up, runny nose, coughing...icky feeling in general. I think I'm slowly getting better though. Hopefully will be better by my appointment in two weeks! Other than that, still no huge pg symptoms.
Well, guess that's it for now. Hope everyone has a feelin' great day!

I pressed submit before I was really finished -- oops :)
Anyway, I was just going to mention that I know I am a June due date, but my son was early, so I am sort of expecting this one to be too. I spent 5 months on bedrest with him, and am praying I don't have to do the same this go round, because it's not going to be so easy with a toddler running around!
We were pretty exciteda bout this pregnancy because we weren't sure if we could conceive again. I have endometriosis, which may have been a factor in the bedrest issue in the first pregnancy, and we thought maybe our family wouldn't be able to expand. Unfortunately, that means I got rid of most of my baby things --oops :)
Looking forward to being part of this thread!

I finally finished all the antibiotics from the UTI. I go in for a follow-up this week, and I'll do all my PG blood work-up stuff on the same day. I'll have a babysitter for DS, because my FIL arrives tonight to visit for a week.

My appointment today was very anti-climactic. It seemed rather rushed, they told me on the phone that it would be an hour long, but we were in and out of there in 30 minutes.
We met with a nurse and she weighed me, checked my urine for protein and glucose, took my blood pressure, did a complete history, and gave me a lab slip to have blood drawn and a packet of information on breastfeeding, nutrition, exercise, safe medications, etc.
I was kind of surprised that they didn't confirm the pregnancy with a test or anything, I guess they just rely on the patient's HPTs and description of symptoms. BUT I do get to go back tomorrow (10/3) for an u/s at 1:30! This whole thing will really feel real when I see a baby on the screen! We will set up my next appointment with the dr. after the u/s when my dates are verified (according to my LMP, I would be due 5/21 and be 7w today... I'm pretty sure I O'd late, but we'll see!)

I have been released to a regular obgyn now, and my first appointment will be next Thursday (appointment and ultrasound). aidensmommy: welcome! So glad you could join us! My sister has endometriosis, and they're trying for their second as well. She's in the same boat--just not sure if they can conceive again, even though the first time seemed so easy for them. She thinks they miscarried at 1 week, so she's hoping that they get pregnant this month (that's often the trend she said). Anyway, glad you're here!
LILRTL: Don't you just love u/s? It makes it so much more real when they show you what's going on in there! Yeah! Two weeks til we get to see ours, but I'm so glad at the news I had today. It seems that our clinic now puts the u/s on DVD for free! Last time we brought our own video and then had to spend a long time transferring it to DVD. So we're excited for that!
Chicksinger: Jolly Ranchers! What a great idea! Have you ever tried the Smoothie ones? They are sooo yummy! Guess I'll be getting some of those :)
As for me, I'm feeling a little better today. At least I got in a shower, which always helps. DD seems to be doing better, and I'm feeling a little better. Now instead of sneezing, my eyes just water! Looks like I'm crying all the time, ha! Went grocery shopping and got lots of healthy food, except had to buy some white bread cuz I can't stand wheat anything right now! Anyway, guess that's it for now!

Hi ladies,
I have been lurking a little bit, not too much to say. Feeling pretty crappy most of the time, but I am glad that it is all normal. I have been pretty reclusive for the past week or so. The funny thing is that my pregnancy book specifically mentions that as being normal towards the end of the first trimester. So I feel more justified in climbing in bed. I don't know how some of you do it with other little ones running around.

Strange u/s Dreams!
I had the strangest dreams last night about my u/s today. First off, it took place in the laundry room of the house I grew up in, and Ty Pennington was the u/s tech! Then during the u/s, he told me the baby had greeen eyes and that it was a boy! It was so strange. As you can tell, I am very excited (and a little nervous) about our u/s today!!!

Of course DH was hogging the entire bed, and then when he gave me some room, started to snore. ugh............
I got to talk to my Gramma last night. We talked about pregnancies, hers and mine....its hard not being able to call up a Mom to talk to. It would be nice to know if I was experiencing things that she was....But it was nice to talk to my Gramma and compare notes so far:p

Does your Dr. generally schedule ultrasounds outside of regular appointments? Is it possible that they will do one at a regularly scheduled appointment? I just want to know what to expect at the appointment I have for tomorrow. It's my first one, but I'm already 9 weeks along, and I really want to do a u/s so that I can make sure everything's ok and tell my mom and MIL that I'm PG... it's hard keeping this a secret!
I guess you get a lot of bloodwork done at these appointments also. Woohoo, I just love intravenous needles!

Hi ladies, been MIA a bit because DS was sick and we had relatives visiting from out of town.
I had my first appt last week, just a history and got my order to get bloodwork done (which I haven't yet). :o
The strange thing is that they changed my EDD even though they went ahead and calculated by conception (o date) like I am doing on my ticker. She said sometimes the wheel they use is a day diff than another wheel commonly used, but the really strange part was that they moved my EDD UP a day (from 5.16 to 5.15) but told me I was one day LESS far along (they said 6W 6D when my ticker said 7W)! Anyway, I think I will just skip the whole EDD thing and say I am due mid May. :D
I am feeling a little better some days. My appetite has gotten stronger than it was, which is good and bad I guess. A couple days I ate a ton and still felt like I wasn't full. Not eating much junk though so it should be ok.
Last night I slept so crappy though! Maybe because I took a kind of long nap kind of late in the afternoon?
--------
Welcome and congratulations to those of you who have just joined us!
Oh, and a word on soft cheese - most of the stuff made in the US (at least Feta & Bleu that I know of) is pasteurized so is safe to eat. If you're still concerned just look at the side of the pkg and it should say. Just thought I'd pass that on as someone who has been eating a lot of Feta on yummy green salads since I found out I was PG. :D
Adianmoms-I am a survior of endo also. I am against all odds for pg. This is my third pg. Never had a problem with getting pg. It only ever takes us about1 to 2 months. I think my doc caught it early and the course of action we took with it.
maniach-my doc does all of the utlrasounds at the appointments for regular pg's. I have my first prenatal appointment on monday and I have the date the pg ultrasound. Then I will have one at my 20w appointment. Because I am a high risk pg for the secound time I will probably have more ultrasounds starting at 32 weeks. With my ds I has having u/s at 28 weeks and then every for from them. Near the end I had an u/s and nst each week. I had 2 appointments each week. Having u/s each week was for growth. My dr does blood work up at 12. I forget the rest. I will find out more on monday about the schedule.
This is my prenatal care this time I will go every 4 weeks until I am 32 weeks and then if I remember correctly from a decussion last year after the lost I will go weekly starting at 32 weeks because of the loss.
Forgot to say that the m/s is more like after I eat heavy foods. I felt sick after a whole grain english muffin and natural peanut butter.

My u/s
The u/s appt was both good and not-so-good. The good part was that we saw a gestational sac and yolk sac. The not-so-good is that we didn't see the baby. The dr. thinks it is because I am not as far along as I thought (the gestational sac measured 5w2d, EDD 6/3/07), so I am going back next Monday 10/9 at 10:45 am for another u/s. He said we should be able to see the baby and hb then.
Looking back, this could make sense because I had some very minor bleeding on the 20th (which according to the size of the sac would have been about 10 dpo) which could have been implantation spotting.
I was so elated to see the sac that I started tearing up, but when we didn't see the baby, I got kind of freaked out. The dr. said that there's about a 20% chance of a blighted ovum, but he didn't seem to think that was the case with us. Please think good thoughts for our baby, we are praying so hard that he/she grows and that we see a baby on the u/s next week!

I am not exactly sure how far along I am because I haven't been to the Dr. to get it confirmed. They only thing I am going off of is the first day of my last period. How close is usually if you use that date??
I wont get to go to my first appt. until Oct. 30th, which just seems so far away to me. I dont want to wait 10 weeks!!! I am not really having any symptoms, besides being really tired. I am having cramps on and off, but they are very light. Is it bad to not having many symptoms?? I had a little spotting this morning, it was brown and only lasted for about an hour, so I called the Dr., and they didnt seem to concerned. They had me go back today for a beta check. The first one was on September 22nd, and it was 100, which I am not sure if it is good or not. Any ideas?? Sorry to keep rambling about everything, I just have so many questions! I wont hear the results of the bloodwork until tomorrow afternoon, so be praying for me! I have not had any dark blood, and I have not had any bad cramps, but I still cant stop worrying. If you guys can help me out, I would REALLY appreciate it! :)

Well Ladies-
I finally got in to see the dr today. I am measuring 7 weeks. (which is possible because I ovulate on cd20/21). Bleeding has ceased, and the Dr said that I may have some more. He said that as long as I have seen/heard a heartbeat, it is unlikely that I will miscarry. He also said that the subchorionic hematoma will heal itself in time. I can go back to work, I just have to take it easy. Dh will have to start doing the grocery shopping, lifting, etc. :D :D
Oh well! I'm just so happy that everything is ok. Oh yeah, my mom came with me and we got to hear the heartbeat! (DH saw it on Fri in the ER) It brought tears to my eyes!

Welcome and congratulations to all the new ladies!
L&D Nurse - I am so sorry that you weren't able to see the baby at your ultrasound. I will think good thoughts and pray for your little one.
I am 6 weeks pregnant today! I cannot believe it! Today I have felt pretty yucky - headache and upset stomach - but I'm trying not to take anything for it.
Question for you all - Does anyone feel like their stomach is already starting to grow? I have not eaten more than usual (and have been eating healthier, even), but I swear that my stomach is beginning to pooch out a tiny bit. Isn't it too early for that? Maybe it's all in my head? :)

suzfuzsunflower~I have not gained 1 pound, in fact I've lost 1/2 pound. However, my stomach has definitely shifted. My clothes are definitely a little tighter! (I've even been told by a few who don't know that I look like I've gained a few:rolleyes: )

Welcome to all the new girls! How exciting!
L&D Nurse: Wow, how scary for you guys! At least your Dr. doesn't seem concerned. We will all pray that baby L&D shows up next week!
Lindsy23: Welcome to the club! You're in for quite a ride :) ! Don't worry about not having symptoms. Lots of women don't have any m/s symptoms to speak of, and we could probably ALL say that we're tired! ha ha! Sorry tho, I don't know much about beta numbers, but I'm sure someone else around here does. My Dr. never told me my betas or anything like that. Cramping and bleeding is normal (so I've heard) as long as it's not a lot of dark red blood with clumps or anything. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're doing okay! And if your HPT says you're pregnant, you're probably pregnant. I took THREE of them and then had the clinic confirm. They said they use the same tests as a HPT, but I just felt better having someone else look at the stick and interpret the lines. Congratulations!
foxyboo751: So glad to hear that the bleeding has stopped! And how great that you got to hear the HB! During my last pregnancy, I kept a stethascope in my bedside table, and every night I would listen to the baby's HB. It was such a relief!
As for the QOTD: Too bad I'm a little overweight already, so I won't see my stomach grow for a while anyway, but I've seen pictures of people 5 weeks pregnant who have started a small tummy! I think your body just knows it needs to adjust and some bodies start early!

Lindsy23 -- When I found out I was PG I went to my PCP and she said I was 6 weeks along. I didn't have any m/s or anything, just TOTALLY exhausted -- for a week. THEN I started feeling sick to my stomach for about 2 weeks, REALLY bad. The only time I felt reasonably well was if I was eating saltines or white bread. I was eating CONSTANTLY. I had to keep food next to the bed at night (I recommend the bread cause DH was annoyed I kept waking him up with the crackers, lol). After that two weeks, I started feeling pretty normal again... maybe 85% capacity. I still feel sick sometimes, have trouble sleeping because of cramps or something and am somewhat tired, but I am MUCH MUCH MUCH better. So, my advice is to enjoy not feeling sick while it lasts, because it TOTALLY sucks if you do.
I didn't spot, though.... thank goodness, because I probably would have FREAKED, since I didn't know that it was "normal".

Suz: I'm feeling bloated and from my weekly belly shots I can tell that even though I'm only 7 weeks into this, my belly has a little "pooch" below my bellybutton....I'm pretty fit and have a flat stomach and so I've really noticed it. DH says he can see it ALOT....Great THANKS!!! :) I just keep telling myself that I'm not getting fat, I'm pregnant!!! Hard to do sometimes!!!

m/s
So the m/s is starting to creep up on me. I felt icky this morning and nothing sounded good to eat, but I got a couple pieces of left-over pizza down and immediately wished I hadn't. :eek: I took my vitamins with the pizza and I really didn't want to throw them up, so I laid down and did some deep breathing. That helped and I fell asleep for about 15 minutes. I am feeling a little better and I think I'll try some applesauce in a few minutes. Although the m/s is not fun, it almost makes me feel more secure about the pregnancy, like the baby is healthy and growing, so at least that part is good.
emilyn and susfuzsunflower~ thanks for the prayers. :)

sigh....I actually and finally threw up last night.........DH says "Well honey, you knew it was going to happen some day....."
sigh....still didnt make me feel better.....
I feel so terrible for you ladies who have been throwing up since 6 weeks. I think I would absolutely die.
suzfuzsunflower~YAY for 6 weeks! Well, my stomache has definately started to grow. I think I really noticed mine at about 7.5 weeks tho. I've gained 3 pounds so far too, so maybe its mostly just chunk:p
Monty~I know what you mean about feeling fat sometimes...I felt that exact way yesterday.....But we ARE pregnant! I just cant wait til this baby is huge and you KNOW its baby fat:p
L&D Nurse~Hope the m/s doesnt get too bad for you! I know I wished I had it earlier....but the sore nipples were enough for me:p LOL!
Hope everyone is feeling good today!

Ugggg.. Not much to report except for pretty bad M/S. I have to say not as much as with my daughter. I could not even get out of bed with her. I can function but not great :) Very, Very tired though. I am not hungry at all. I have actully lost 5 pounds. Which is fine because I am about 30lbs overweight.
L&D Nurse: The same thing happened with Apige and everything was fine. Don't make yourself crazy with worry :) SOrry you feel yucky! I chew alot of gum and drink unsweetened iced tea with fresh lemon. It seems to help. Also the Vitiman water revive flavor is helping :)
Have a great day.. Off to throw up and get my daughter ready for school!

jessmaine~ thanks for the words of encouragement. I am trying to stay calm and positive, being a nervous wreck won't help the situation! BTW, who is Apige?
My IL's are visiting from out of town. My MIL wears so much perfume that it makes me gag. I asked DH to ask her not to wear any while she's here, but she still showed up with tons of it on last night. I am still feeling nauseated today, nothing sounds good to eat, but I am trying to force myself. I ate some pretzel sticks and ginger ale before getting out of bed this morning and that seemed to help a little bit.
Hope you all have a great day!

I went to the Dr. yesterday and they did the u/s and it turns out that the internet has been lying to me, I am actually further along than I thought!! I finally got to tell my mom, she's so excited, although already getting a little annoying. I know DH's mom is excited, too. In the u/s picture, the baby looks like a teddy bear, it's so cute! I got to see the heartbeat, but she must not have had the sound on or something, because we didn't hear anything. When she first started the u/s the baby was dancin' around like nobody's business. She said she thought he had the hiccups, it was too cute. :p
Anyway, it definitely feels more real now. It's amazing what that little picture can do.
Also, as for the belly showing thing, I think that I am definitely showing a little. Although I, too, have put on some extra poundage, I don't usually carry weight in my belly, so I think it must be the little peanut. From what I hear there's a stage of pregnancy between being normal sized and showing where you just look like you put on 15 lbs. I'm really looking forward to that :rolleyes:
I hope everyone's doing well today, and look forward to seeing your updates!

We had another u/s yesturday. We got to see our little munchkin and the heartbeat. We also got to hear it. It was 171.
It made it even more real-I teared up as soon as we saw the heartbeat.
The doctor thinks I am 9w2d, but I think I am only 8w5d.
I am so tired and busy at work. I'll come back later for shout outs.

I definitely think I am in that in between stage! Everyone says I have more of a pooch than normal, but I haven't actually put on any weight! It's wierd. :rolleyes: Plus, my clothes are definitely a little tighter.
I found out today that my Principal, AP and Office Secretary all knew I was PG before I told them on Friday. I told the rest of my team yesterday. It's nice not to have to hide it anymore!! :D

Yolanda: YAAAA!!! For a heartbeat and seeing your peanut...I'm so anxious for my appt. on the 19th!!! Must be a relief!!! So why does the doctor think you are farther along? Is that gestation age or fetal age? I know they add two weeks at most dr. offices?! I'm going off my ovulation date....what about you?
Have a great weekend ladies!!! Not much to report on my end, just some very mild cramping this am and VERY sore BB's (they are going to be as large as Dolly Pardons soon!!!!) :) So far, no M/S......don't know whether that is good or bad!!!!! :o

Welcome to all the new members!!
I've put on about 2lbs total, and I have a little pooch. The average person wouldn't be able to tell when I'm in normal clothes, but I can definitely tell. Plus, my pants are getting tighter.
Other than that, I'm feeling really good. I had m/s last week, but I seemed to have run it off this week (knock on wood).
aligirl: Thinking of you today.

Monty-Well, my cycles aren't the typical 28 days. I thought Dr.'s based your due date off of a 28 day cycle. I think that's what they did. I am basing my edd on my 32 day cycles...i don't know when I ovulated. I have kept my u/s pic on my desk all week:D
aligirl-I'm thinking about you. I hope everything turns out okay.
I am feeling pretty good lately, still really tired. My bb's still feel like they are being chopped off-I can't walk to fast anymore, any bounce kills me:o
I'm disappointed; my mom doesn't seem that interested or excited about her first grandchild. Before I got pg, all she could talk about was when one of us (my brother and I) got pregnant and how excited she would be. She would constantly ask when we would start trying, etc...(I never told her when we started trying...a year and a half ago). But now that I am pregnant, she just isn't very interested. I was anxious to show her the latest u/s pic; she said she would stop by on her lunch and she never did.; In fact, I haven't even heard from her. We've always had a wierd relationship, but it still stinks. Heck, my MIL is more excited and it's her 5th grandchild!
Anyways, enoungh venting, Sorry:o My lunch hour is over:rolleyes:
I hope everyone is doing well.

Moved my appt up to today because I've had some bleeding yesterday and this morning :( Hopefully it's nothing but I feel like my period could come at any time....
I hope that for you this is what I had. I mean, I wouldn't wish it on anyone, because it's really scary, but my Dr said that almost every woman has it and he only tells the ones that actually bleed what it is. I bled from 1:30 last Fri til late Sat morning...a lot! Either way...you'll still be in my prayers.

Don't worry about this. My mom was not as thrilled as I thought she would be either. She is very straightforward and told me..."I'll get excited once you've passed that 12 week mark." Then, when I was bleeding last week, she said "Well, you're probably having a miscarraige." I couldn't believe her! I thought if anyone should be sympathetic, it would be her. Then, I was so excited when she came with me to my follow-up dr's appt and we got to see and hear the baby's heartbeat. That's when she almost started to cry. :) Some mom's are just that way.
