Just curious to see what the percentage was among CC ladies who did or did not get morning sickness during their pregnancy. If you did get it, how far along were you?

I did. I had it from about 6-10 weeks and i would descibe it as feeling carsick from the time i woke up til the time i went to sleep. really unpleasant... but i cant complain because i know people have it so much worse than that!

As soon as I was 6 weeks pregnant, I had anytime, any day, any where morning sickness!!! It was horrible- the toilet and I became best friends and we always had lysol in our bathroom. But, now I have my beautiful little girl and it was worth it. :D

But, it sure is nice to brush my teeth now and not have an aversion to toothpaste. ;)

It hit me hard from 5 weeks on. It wasnt until 18 weeks it lessened, but it never went away. The funny thing is once Zoey was born I still had this feeling of just wanting to be pg again :)

This time it has come on slowly but steadily. It started at 6 weeks and is getting worse.

I fit into the same category as Alanna. I never threw up, but from almost 6 weeks to 10 weeks, I was nauseaus morning, noon and night. The worst was from waking to lunch and then after dinner. I told DH at the time, I don't know how people do this more than twice!! And, I didn't even have it as bad as some people. Don't know how they do it!

Oh, did I ever have morning sickness! Mine hit as soon as I was 6 weeks pregnant, and was bad (puking at least once a day) until I was about 35 weeks (2 weeks ago). It has started to let up a little in the past couple weeks, but it was ugly.
Good luck! ;)

with my 1st pregnancy, i was so sick from 6 weeks on. went away for a little while during 2nd trimester, then came back but not as bad at 8 montths.

this pregnancy i was sick for about 3 weeks straight, but not nearly as bad as with my dd. i think i was more tired than anything this time.

With my first, I threw up 2 or 3 times and felt MUCH better after 14 weeks or so.

With this one, I'll be 31 weeks on Monday and am still throwing up violently. Have been from day 1. I knew I was pregnant before I got a + test b/c I was sooooooooooooooooo sick!

I am 27 weeks pg and still have it. I have thrown up twice this week (as the pregnancy has progressed, it has gone down and I average throwing up probably only 3-4 times a week instead of a couple times a day), but I feel like today isn't going to be a good day - I am very queasy and feel weak.

I can't really recall, but I think mine started around 6-8 weeks. I don't have HG because I've not lost weight...I just throw up a lot. The doctor thinks mine is related to acid reflux, so now I am on Tagamet as well as Zofran. The Zofran tastes horrible (it has aspertame in it and a really strange fizzy strawberry flavor) and has made me throw up on its own before. Now I take it with water and don't let it dissolve in my mouth...and I try not to breathe when it is near my face because it smells.

I was naustiated a few times, but nothing horrible. I only got sick once and it was because I was driving in the car.

i had no m/s during this entire pregnancy but from about 6-12 weeks i had this feeling that was very strong where i would get hungry and think "if i don't eat RIGHT NOW i am going to throw up." it wasn't logical but that was how i felt. then, towards the end of my pregnancy (maybe from about 36 weeks on - i will be 40 weeks tomorrow and still feel this way) i will eat when i get hungry but if it is before a certain time in the day or if i didn't sleep enough, i have to stop eating abruptly b/c the food makes me nauseated and i start to gag. makes no sense.

I got a little queasy in the morning starting at week five, it only lasted a couple weeks. It went away when I ate breakfast, and sometimes would return again right before lunch - again, helped by eating. I'll put it this way - it was mild enough that I kind of enjoyed it as a classic sign of pregnancy! I was very fortunate in that regard.

i'll confess that i never had morning sickness and i'm fourteen weeks and six days today. i never even had any appreciable nausea. sometimes i would think, "hey, am i queasy?!" but usually the answer was, "if you have to question it, you're not." i did throw up once, but it was more because i was brushing my tongue overzealously than nausea.

I was one of the unfortunates who had severe morning sickness that limited my ability to function for some time. It started around 5 weeks or so (I still remember the moment too - my MIL had made ham for New Year's, and I almost gagged at the sight and smell of it) and lasted for three straight months, day and night.

I ended up on prescription meds for it, and spent most days laying on the couch, unable to move. It sucked!

But, for the last few months of the pregnancy, I've been generally ok! The nausea seems to have passed for the most part, although there are still some things that make me queasy.

I was "other" - I felt very nauseous all day long for most of the 1st trimester...but I never actually vomited. However, I lived on Tums, wore Sea Bands 24x7, couldn't deal with any odor (smoke, food, animals, etc), and had a very limited diet because of it. Honestly, in my mind as long as I didn't vomit I could tolerate it.

Mine started at 5 wks with just mild nauseau but then quickly got worse. My doctor gave me Zofran a week ago (6w) and it has been a life-saver. Never thought I'd be happy about only puking once a day  I just hope it doesn't get worse from here and goes away soon. Good luck - I hope you are spared this misery!

You're in for some fun on the Zofran. It can cause constipation, so be sure to eat lots of fiber and stuff. If you have trouble, ask your doctor for Miralax. It is a great laxative that does not cause cramping or bloating. My only gripe about it is that while it doesn't have a flavor, it seems to me to alter the texture of whatever I drink it in...I don't like my grape juice to feel thick.

I had it from about 6-12 weeks. It was more the "typical", I was nauseaus a LOT, and would usually puke before leaving my house for work. It sort of because part of my routine.. get showered, get dressed, throw up, go to work (or have to pull over on ride TO work and throw up). But, it went away completely by 13 weeks and I felt great the rest of my pregnancy, so that was the plus side! (well, that and my wonderful son.)

Count me as part of the Zofran clan. I had terrible morning (all day) sickness up to about the 18 week mark. After that, I didn't need my meds any more, but I still had a few nauseous mornings.

You're in for some fun on the Zofran. It can cause constipation, so be sure to eat lots of fiber and stuff. Already there! Actually though, it is not much worse than the constipation I had with my first pg (without Zofran) so I am just chalking it up to the joys of being pregnant. Everything that I can eat that comes in whole wheat form (English muffins, bread, etc), I have. I've also been keeping down blueberries and green beans and trying to get in a little salad every night. I was trying to drink a glass of prune juice every day but after that came up in a really quite splendid and dramatic fashion I have shied away from it.

I had extreme nausea from about 4 weeks through about 12. I am almost 15 weeks now and it's almost gone :D

I never threw up, though (knock on wood!)

Oh! And the term "morning" sickness????? It was ALL FRIGGIN DAY for me!

I posted "other" because I would be lying if I said I had nothing, but I can't say I was nauseous either. From 6 to 10 weeks I felt like I was on a bad blood-sugar low all the time. I imagine it is what hypoglycemics feel like. It was definitely food/stomach related b/c I would feel better immediately after eating (some things, not others), and I had tons of food aversions. (The aversions disappeared also at 10 weeks.) I have been nauseous plenty of other times in life and that just wasn't it.

I feel that this was unhelpful :o but I just wanted to post a different experience -- I feel like this was morning sickness and my brain just interpreted it kinda differently. I was very lucky to avoid the vomiting (this time anyway).

Mine was bad, but not Zofran bad. It started around 6 weeks and still hasn't fully gone away at 33 weeks - however it got much better around 22 weeks. It was like a constant car sickness/food poisoning feeling. And puking didn't make it go away. It was awful...I ended up missing a lot of work because I was so sick I couldn't move - I would just lay in bed as still as possible. Even something as simple as my husband breathing would send me into a frenzy.

I was sick from about weeks 6 through 14. I only lost meals maybe 2-3 times, but I generally felt nauseous all day long without throwing up. Even if I did throw up, it doesn't make you feel better like it does when you have the flu or something. Sweet relief around week 13 when it went away completely. I had one bout of it since then but that's it. Almost 20 weeks and feelin' good....big huge appetite. :D

At 33 weeks, I am still sick almost every day. Luckily it's not as bad as it was in the first trimester, but it's for a good 20 minutes almost every morning
:( I sure wish I could shake it. 8 months of being ill almost daily really is annoying.

I was nauseous from weeks 6 - 10 but I never threw up. I found that most of the time I would feel better if I made sure that I always had a little food in my stomach. Crackers were my best friends.

I threw up pretty much on a daily basis from weeks 6-12. Week 8 was particularly bad -- I couldn't keep anything down that week. Finally got some Zofran by week 10. Next pregnancy I'm going to get that Zofran a lot earlier. lml -- did you take Zofran in pill form? I didn't get the "thick grape juice" sensation, although it did make me constipated (but I would take constipation every time in comparison to being nauseated all day). Nothing helped except the Zofran, not eating before getting out of bed, snacking, nothing.

Car rides made me sick too, especially when I wasn't the one driving. I never had motion sickness pre-pg, but definitely had it during the first tri. That's gone away though.

I was still somewhat nauseated weeks 13-14 but it was milder & I didn't throw up every day. I have been nauseated on & off for the past 2 1/2 weeks or so (I'm 20 weeks), but nothing compared to the first tri.

Yeah, I take the ones that are freeze-dried and dissolve in your mouth. The thick grape juice sensation came from the Miralax that I was put on to counteract the constipation that Zofran helped cause.

I was nauseated periodically through the day from about 5-6 weeks until about 12-15 weeks, maybe? During that time, it was a lot of smells making me sick, and food aversions (I still can't eat tomato sauce) and not having food in my stomach.

After that, I continued to throw up at least 2-3 times a week, normally in the morning-to-noon range. All in all, it was far from horrible and I was saved having a pity party for myself by having 2 friends who were hospitalized with hyperemisis during that time. Yikes.

And I also still can't brush my teeth without gagging a little -- and dd was 4 yesterday. Apparently, my gag reflex has decided never to revert to normal sensitivity levels. (However it is nice to escape the "brush teeth, throw up, brush teeth again, throw up again, third time's the charm: brush teeth with water only" routine.)

I bouts of morning sickness every day 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I don't think I had a day where I wasn't sick during the first trimester. It started out just as a nausea feeling but within a week it was full blown 24/7 sickness. It started a week after we found out that I was pregnant. And it didn't officially end until I was almost 20 weeks pregnant. (Things did improve when I reached the 2nd trimester but the sickness didn't stop until 20 weeks or so.)

Certain smells would cause me to get sick immediately. Certain foods would do the same. There were very few items that I could eat or drink without getting sick. That's when I was finally put on meds (but it took a few to find the right ones that would work for me).

Looking back on it all now, it was so worth it. Ask me at the time and I'm not sure that I would have given the same answer. But holding my precious daughter was worth everything that I went through during the pregnancy and delivery.

Yuk, I was violently puking for the first three/four months! My stomach was so sensitive, if I rolled in my sleep to quickly or rough, I'd go running to the bathroom. It was amazing how abruptly it stopped when it did though...since then I might have gotten sick 3 times, and that was due to reallllllly bad heartburn/reflux.

I started having m/s around 8 weeks and it lasted until 16 weeks. After the 16 week mark, it died off considerably and once in a great while, I would get ill.

The thing I found most humorous about the whole thing is that I was only sick from about 4pm to 8 pm each night, never in the morning or during the day. I am a teacher, so I think I may have willed myself to not be sick during work time and sort of just let it all hang out once school was over.

All in all, mine wasn't really all that bad.

Morning sickness hit me at 4am when I was 5 1/2 weeks. I was sick all day/night long for months. I was put on a prescription that stopped working. When I was about 3 1/2 months along I ended up in the ER for dehyradation. They put me on an IV drip for hours. The next day I started to feel better but started back on my prescription. I am now just over 20 weeks and I think I am finally done (KNOCK ON WOOD) I am down to one pill a day and feel pretty good.
The worst part of it all was that I was always at my worst on the weekends without fail. I really started to dread the weekends

Well, I'm smack-dab in the middle of it right now, but what I'm feeling now is NOTHING as bad as what others have felt. Mainly I just feel sick (as you do with a mild flu), pretty much all day long. No throwing up (yet, knock on wood - I'm only 7 1/2 weeks). I don't feel like eating ANYTHING, and certain sites/thoughts make me really queasy (I don't have a sense of smell, and this is the one and only time in my life when I'm thankful for that -- I'm pretty sure that if I did, I'd be puking).

At the end of my fifth week, I had the biggest appetite I've ever had in my LIFE. Everything looked and sounded great, and I wanted to eat it all. That lasted for about four days. On the fifth day, I very suddenly couldn't eat ANYTHING except for wheat toast and plain white rice with butter. That's pretty much where I am still (a week and a half later), except now I've learned that I won't throw up if I force myself to try some "new" foods, so I've expanded my diet a bit. Still get really sick at the thought of anything sweet, though. Yuck. Salt, salt, salt is all I want.

Bumping this up because I am curious about this... I am just about 7 weeks and so far, am absolutely fine -- no sickness, no nausea, nothing.

Just wondering what others' experiences have been.

I have had verry very little m/s (I'm a little more than 12 weeks now).... there was one day (I think around 9-10 weeks) where I was absolutely miserable, and sometimes I was nauseous at night, but overall I consider myself very lucky.

At 7 weeks I was wondering if I was going to experience more symptoms-- and it turns out I really didn't, just some serious cravings for mac and cheese and orange juice :)

I found out, when we told my mom, that she didn't experience any m/s with me and very little with my brothers...

Congrats on your pregnancy!!

I've been sick almost every day from weeks 4 or 5 to now, 15. I'm on Zofran but I just ran out and I'm going to try to brave tomorrow w/o it. I don't even feel like it does anything for me anymore, other than constipate me and make me broke! I was violently ill in the beginning, as in could not leave the house or a receptacle to vomit in, 24/7 nausea w/ maybe every other day vomitting after that. Currently I am only nauseous maybe a couple of times a day or over a food aversion or something and I'm able to eat pretty regularly and all that, but I still don't think I'm gaining weight. My appetite is very decreased. I'm praying I've turned a corner and I'm getting better. I am so over being sick and taking medicine every day. Can't wait until I meet my baby and get to join the "it was sooo worth it" club!!! That's going to be a great day!

My mom never had one bout of morning sickness during her entire pregnancy. So when I figured that I would be the same. That was definitely NOT the case. I was the total opposite of her. Some women get it very bad, some get it less severe, some get it only sporadic, and some never have any. That is just another thing about pregnancy that you never know until you are. And it could be different with each pregnancy. I sincerely hope you do not experience. Take it from someone who was so sick that I was pretty much housebound for the first 25 weeks of my pregnancy, it sucks.

I do so hope that you've turned a corner and are getting better too. My meds never made much improvement with my morning sickness either. I was still sick (just not as often) when I took them. I never gained hardly any weight until after I got past 25 wks either. I could only really eat one item that didn't make me throw up immediately afterwards. If I had to cook then lets just say that there was no way I was eating.

Ohmygod, I was SOOOO sick. Found out I was pregnant last January 15th, and by the first week of February I had lost 13 pounds and was hospitalized. Diagnosed with severe Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Hospitalized twice, nursing service at home with IV's for a month, a catheter inserted in my leg for anti-vomiting meds for two months...I was nauseus and sick and on drugs (tried zofran, reglan, phenergan, b6, unisom....) EVERY DAY of my pregnancy from the second month until the day I delivered.

And yes, it was absolutely, positively worth it to have my daughter. So if you're sick, hang in there!

The only time I would get nauseous was during my first trimester and it was when I didn't eat on a regular basis. During the first trimester, my body needed food *every hour*. When I didn't comply and tried sticking with a routine breakfast, lunch and dinner, I'd get sick. When I did comply, though, I felt fine. The whole nausea thing completely ended once my second trimester began. I feel very lucky!

With my first pregnancy, I had the icky feelings from about 5 weeks on. Around 10 weeks, I started puking. Puked daily until I went on vacation for 10 days. Got home, started puking again, every day, until around 30 weeks. Then, it was only every other to every third day. It sucked, but not so much that I wasn't willing to do it again. I was not able to convince my OB that I needed zofran until around 22 weeks (shortly after she left the practice and I now have a fabulous OB!).

This time, I had the icky feelings again from about five weeks. Around 9 weeks I got the stomach flu. That lead into puking every day until 11 weeks. I've made it a whole week (knock on some wood!) without puking (12 weeks now). That's not to say I still haven't felt icky and like crap. But, the zofran really does do wonders. The feeling icky sucks, but nothing like puking AND feeling icky.

I voted other. I started getting m/s around 6wks. It was mostly just a really intense nausea and I didn't throw up that often. But everything made the nausea worse--moving, eating, drinking water, thinking about food, any smells, talking, you get the picture. Lost a lot of weight. At about 16 weeks the nausea got a little better, and slowly I started to gain back some weight. I'm now 26wks, still having nausea, but on most days I'm able to eat well & keep water down. Hopefully the really bad m/s won't come back in the 3rd trimester (I know for some people it does).

With DS I had m/s (all day) from 12 weeks until he was born.

This time I had m/s from 6 weeks until 16 weeks and it was much worse. I actually have lost over 20 pounds.

Both times I've been on Zofran to control the nausea and vomiting.

I was nauseous from right around the time I got my BFP, until about 14 weeks. I only threw up a few times... mostly it was just all-day nausea and lack of appetite. Even without vomiting, I lost about 12 pounds during that time. After 14 weeks, it was almost like a switch turned off and eating food sounded good again. :D Since then I've had a couple very mild bouts (only when I go too long between meals) and the weight is slowly starting to come back.

I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant and have been having M/S for the past 3 weeks or so (even before I found out I was pregnant). I'm sick all day usually, gagging from the moment I'm out of bed, until I get back into bed at night. It's horrible and I'm hoping it only lasts for a few more weeks :(

I was nauseas, mostly in the evenings from about 4pm until I went to sleep, from about 5 1/2 weeks until 11 or 12 weeks. I was totally fine in the morning (ate a huge breakfast), but felt worse as the day progressed. No puking to speak of, although there were days when I thought it was going to happen. It doesnt seem so bad looking back, but at the time I was pretty miserable. I do realize how lucky I was not to have full-fledged m/s.

I had it starting around 5.5 weeks, usually in the afternoon or evening. It seems to have tapered off a bit now (9.1 weeks). There was puking, but it was never uncontrollable and didn't last all day long.

First of all, I have yet to have "morning" sickness. I feel my best in the mornings, and the nauseua starts in the afternoon. That said, I have only thrown up twice (I am 11 weeks). But I get nauseus every day around noon and the only thing that helps is eating certain foods.

Had absolutely no morning sickness or even nausea at all throughout the entire pregnancy. I gagged a few times when I had to take out stinky trash or deal with our dog doo doo, but nothing else. I'm over 37 weeks along now...

Bumping this up. I'm having bad morning sickness (actually all day and night sickness). My doctor just called me in a prescription for Zofran today, so I'm hoping that will help.

I'm not voting in the poll yet, because I am not out of the woods.

So far weeks 6-8 have featured nausea in the mornings and evenings (I can eat normal food for lunch, but only toast or rice krispies for breakfast & dinner), with three puking episodes brought on by gagging (once on vitamins, once on something I was eating, once at the smell of my (totally clean!) compost bucket) and one puking episode brought on by eating something acidic first thing in the morning. I'm managing, but am really looking forward to this phase being over.

I'm so glad I found this thread. Like many others, I started getting m/s at 6 weeks. I wake up feeling pretty good and then the nauseau kicks in a few hours later and gets progressively worse. Night is the worst (feels like pretty intense nauseau) but luckily I'm still sleeping well (although I have to sleep with 2 pillows now). I also have to eat something almost every hour or else it gets even worst.

I haven't thrown up yet (*knock on wood*) but it's really unpleasant and like someone else said, feels like I have a mild flu pretty much all day long.

As someone else said, I don't know how people do this more than twice!!

I voted other because I had none what so ever with DS #1 and tons with DS #2.

Here I am a few weeks later (than my first post) and I'm STILL having morning (AKA ALL DAY) sickness. I'm 12w3d right now and it's just not going away. I was hoping that since I'm almost into my 2nd trimester I'd be over it, but man.... This just is not fun :(

I'm 14 weeks, and so far nothing! :D
No m/s, no nausea, no real food or smell aversions (other than raw meat or garbage, but that would do me in when I wasn't pregnant).

Knocking on wood that it will stay at bay!
