We had our cat outside and she started licking her paw like crazy and half her face started to swell. I suspect a bee sting. Anyway, the vet said to give her 1/2 tsp. of benadryl. We gave her 1/4 tsp. (I think 1 ml). Does that sound about right? She's about 10 lbs.

That sounds about right to me. We give it to my dog every once in a while due to allergies.

The more I look online it looks like 1/2 tsp. would have been too much. We gave her 1/4 tsp. because the swelling seemed to stabilize. She also started drooling profusely so I think she may have spit some of it out. Does it knock your dog out? I just want to keep an eye on her, but she usually sleeps all afternoon anyway so I won't be able to tell if she's acting unusual.

1/4 teaspoon is definitely not an overdose. The usual dose is 1 mg/lb so 1/2 tsp would have been fine for the average cat (assuming the standard concentration of 12.5 mg/tsp).

Thanks Jesvet - she seems perfectly fine now.
