Seems civil-rights leader Andrew Young, hired by Walmart to improve their dismal public image, especially in areas pertaining to equality, made a racist comment.

From this article: (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14406528/)

In the Sentinel interview, Young was asked about whether he was concerned Wal-Mart causes smaller, mom-and-pop stores to close.

"Well, I think they should; they ran the `mom and pop' stores out of my neighborhood," the paper quoted Young as saying. "But you see, those are the people who have been overcharging us selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. And they sold out and moved to Florida. I think they've ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it's Arabs; very few black people own these stores."

How unfortunate. But conveniently, Mel Gibson is out of work just as this position has an opening. I see a fit!

Wow. There's no denying that what he said is racist. He can't even pull the "out of context" card.

I think someone needs to get his resume in order. . .

Somehow, he is still trying to go with the "out of context" excuse.

[He] said his decision to step down followed a report in the weekly Los Angeles Sentinel, which he said was misread and misinterpreted.

He has resigned but is still making excuses.

Just once I'd like someone to stand up and say: "You know what? I said a hateful, ignorant thing and there is no excuse for it."

Period.

"Things that are matter-of-fact in Atlanta, in the New York and Los Angeles environment, tend to be a lot more volatile," he said.

Yeah, it's an LA and NY thing. Sure. In Atlanta people just see it like it is -- the Jews and the Koreans and the Arabs are ripping us all off, and in Atlanta they see that and understand it. Folks in NY and LA are just too darned sensitive.

This guy's a piece of work.

This is a former mayor, former UN ambassador and a so-called "civil rights leader" who made those comments. That's terrifying to me. While I'm pleased that he was called on the comments and has actually resigned over them, I find it truly scary that he could have made a statement like that to begin with. I would really have expected so much better...

Here in Milwaukee, we really hate the gays and the Pollocks. You just wouldn't "get it" if you don't live here.

Man, this sounds like something my friend's grandma and aunt would say! They has something bad to say about EVERY ethnicity! Even about how the people with my last name from this town are no good!!! Well...I'm not from this town...and they are right...they are always in the paper for stealing, drug trafficking and other bad things....

But the kicker--they're IRISH!!!! Like we haven't heard enough Irish jokes to last a life-time!!! But--they're okay--it's everyone else who are wrong!!! ;)

It's true - New Yorkers are notoriously thin-skinned and sensitive about these darn racial issues! ;) Must be all that "diversity" we have!

Seriously. When coupled with his civil rights background...well, we can just stick a picture of him in the dictionary next to the work "irony."
