As I first reported yesterday, Britney was seen at her hotel last week slamming down her cell phone and crying. She had flown out to NYC to support Kfed’s efforts and word is, she was outraged at becoming his Beck & Call Girl.
This was apparently the final straw. The phone calls, the texts, the emails are all flying in...here's what I've been piecing together.
Last week, I mentioned that he repeatedly referred to her as his “wife” in an interview with USA Today, and at that time, buzz was loud that she was gaining back her confidence and not happy about his growing ego, his unwillingness to show appreciation and gratitude for her generosity, and his constant pressure to sell their baby photos.
Britney has been surprisingly resistant about sharing JJ with the world, despite Kfed’s pleas to have them released on the day his album broke.
There are also unconfirmed rumours about an entourage member who was allegedly getting a little too close for comfort – that tip is not lock tight so stay tuned.
My sources say Lynn – her only great move in years – finally stepped in and set her daughter straight. Since then, all phone calls from Kevin have been blocked and at press time, I’m told he has been overheard ranting into his own cell phone that she “can’t stop me from seeing my kids”.
Still, there are those who say that Kevin is unplussed. That he feels all he has to do is see his “wife” in person to smooth things over – a sense of bravado that belies his anxiety. For the first time ever, Britney has been resolute, and Goddess help us all, she will remain that way. Lynn has supposedly been especially vocal, worried Britney will cave, doing everything she can to make sure her daughter doesn’t crumble.
Finally – one person I’ve heard from goes so far as to say that not only has he not been able to make contact with Britney over the phone but that he doesn’t even know where she is.

Even there is divorce is going to be a huge-out-in-the-public affair. Can't they keep anything to themselves? Poor Brit, I really feel bad for her. She seems like she made a bad choice, tried to make it work, and got screwed. KFed is such a looser. According to a statement from his lawyers: "Kevin is prepared to go the distance in order to do what he feels is necessary to protect and safeguard the children and will not be intimidated or dissuaded from pursuit of those goals."

I'd like the judge to tell Fedex that, sure, he'll get the kids, but it doesn't mean he will get a dime more than he would if he wouldn't have sole custody. Let's see how quickly he changes his mind then.

What Bourjaily wouldn't comment on was ticket sales. And perhaps for good reason.
Just hours before the doors were to open Wednesday night, tickets for the Federline show were not only available, they were available for cheap. As in free, a $2.25 TicketMaster convenience fee excepted.
Life, meanwhile, was looking smoother for Federline's more professionally renowned spouse. Shortly after news of the divorce broke Tuesday night, Spears was spotted ice skating at Manhattan's Rockefeller Center.
Perhaps of even more import was the identify of Spears' skating companion: Larry Rudolph, her former manager.
Rudolph has been credited with guiding Spears from the ashes of the Mickey Mouse Club to the top of the pop charts. The two were together for nine years until they announced their professional split around the same time Spears wed Federline.
Rudolph's management company would not comment on Spears on Wednesday, and so it was not unknown if the Rockefeller Center rink sighting meant the wayward singer was returning home, or if Rudolph was just working on his lutz.
Spears, who ranks above Frank Sinatra, Janet Jackson, Faith Hill and more with 31 million career albums sold, has not released a new collection since 2004's Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, her last project with Rudolph.
The divorce filing has spurred speculation that Spears, still only 24, wants to get serious about her career again.
"This could be something of an opportunity for something approaching a fresh start," said Brian Hiatt, an associate editor at Rolling Stone. "It really depends on how she handles herself...How much of a fool she makes out of herself."
According to Hiatt, Spears' fall as a music star, and her rise as a tabloid star, predates Federline, and goes back to the time when she married "that other guy," aka Jason Allen Alexander, Spears' husband of Jan. 3-5, 2004.
The cure for what has ailed Spears' career for nearly three years now could be as simple--and elusive--as a hit.
"All she needs to do is go to the studio, and make some really good songs," Hiatt said.
The road to the recording booth presumably will be clearer once the Federline matter has been resolved. And as messy as the marriage has been, marked in recent weeks by coast-to-coast crying fits on Spears' part, the divorce has a shot at being neater. Or at least neater than Paul McCartney's.
Unlike the moneyed ex-Beatle, Spears apparently had the foresight to take care of a little paperwork after marrying Federline for People magazine's cameras in September 2004, but before marrying him for real nearly three weeks later in October 2004.
"All signs point to the fact there was a prenuptial agreement," said Manhattan divorce attorney Lois Liberman.
Still, prenups can be challenged--even if, as the New York Post claimed, Spears' and Federline's calls for him to receive a cool $10 million parting gift. (Spears herself reportedly is worth an even cooler $32 million.)
Beyond any prenup issues, Liberman cautioned that Spears' and Federline's two sons, Sean Preston, 1, and newborn Jayden James, could become negotiating tools for Federline. Per court papers, Spears has requested legal and physical custody of the boys, setting the stage for a possible tangle.
"Unfortunately," Liberman said, "opportunists use whatever opportunity they can use."
Federline, 28, has two other children from a previous relationship with former Moesha actress Shar Jackson.
Calls seeking comment from Federline's attorney, Mark Kaplan, were not returned Wednesday.
Judging by video captured by Canada's MuchMusic, Federline could still be reeling from the divorce filing.
As recounted by the network, cameras were rolling Monday night when Federline, shooting a MuchMusic reality segment, became upset while text-messaging with an unknown party. The implication: Federline got the bad news about his marriage on the cell phone. If nothing else, the timing fits: Spears says the couple separated on Monday.
And the hits just keep coming for Federline. On Monday, his marriage blew up. On Tuesday, it was announced he'd handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to 1980s techno-pop star Thomas Dolby to settle a lawsuit stemming from the unauthorized sampling of Dolby's "She Blinded Me with Science" on Federline's "America's Most Wanted." On Wednesday, the latest Nielsen SoundScan numbers showed his album only sold 6,000 in its first week in stores.
At least psychic Judi Hoffman sees a bright future ahead for Federline.
Oh, wait. It's Spears that Hoffman has pegged for better days.
"I think she's going to play around for a while. There's going to be another guy. And she's not going to marry him," Hoffman said, adding, "I see a Madonna-ish comeback."

Although I feel sorry for the kids and the circumstances of the divorce, in a way, Britney can blame herself for legally attaching herself to this hillbilly (I mean did you think the divorce will be easy? That he'd go down w/o a fight?).

I'm not divorced and neither were my parents, so I have no clue if this is right.
But, since Kevin and Shar were never married could/would he be entitled to custody? I think my cousin and her ex (never married) had worked out a custody schedule because he was paying child support. While the kids were his, did they have his last name? I thought they kept Shar's name - which could mean she didn't want him to visit them? (I'm totally grabbing at straws here!)

I think fedex will get under $10 million out of the settlement when all is said in done...he'll blow it all, and realize he can't afford the taxes on anything he purchased.

I can't help but feel like whatever Britney gets is what she deserves. She chose this. It's just sad that there are kids involved. I don't think they have the smartest set of parents out there. I sort of hope Britney lets nannies raise them. Maybe they'll have a chance at some normalcy.

I agree that she deserves whatever she gets. She's been so ridiculously immature through their whole relationship and breakup, apparently forgetting that their are children (not just her own, but the ones he had with Shar) involved. Trotting out onto Letterman, and then going ice skating, with that stupid "hee hee, look at me" look on her face was so spoiled and bratty. As disgusting as Fedex is, she's really not much better. I feel so bad for their kids--they didn't make out very well in the parent dept.

Yes, I think once he gets his settlement she can renegotiate her kids support. I don't think Britney's income is included right now. I just wish she would shut up, nobody cares. At least I don't. :)

That's not really fair to Ryder though, as it's a Jewish tradition to not cut little boys hair until they turn 3 years old. A good friend of mine lives in Israel, and her little one turned 3 a few months ago, and it was a big party. Everybody there got to cut off a lock of hair.

I don't think any judge would give him those kids. It's completely correct that he didn't try to get custody of the other two b/c Shar doesn't have the $$ the Britney does. And if he's SO worried about the kids, why isn't he trying to see them now instead of riding the bus around the U.S. to promote his sorry excuse for music? He felt safe enough leaving them with her while he was out partying all the time.

It was quite cute--my favorite photo of my father is the one with long curly hair forming ringlets. My daughter's hair looked very much the same at that age. While my grandmother acknowledged her Jewish heritage, she considered herself a devout Catholic. There are many Hispanic Catholics along the northeast border of Mexico with Hasidic Jewish heritage who leave their sons' hair long, despite considering themselves Catholic.

Since the split, Kevin has curtailed his wild spending. Instead of flying, he's been riding the bus with his crew. On a stop in Maryland, he spent the night in the $120 a night Plaza Hotel and went shopping at WalMart.
Since neither article specified tour bus or Greyhound bus, I'm just going to hold onto the hope that he's going Greyhound. Just because he deserves it so darn much!:D

The unlikely pair landed at club Tryst in the Wynn hotel, where Britney was spotted getting down and dirty on the dance floor to several Paris Hilton songs. In fact, things got so heated, Britney ditched her pants -- and danced around the club in a pair of fishnet stockings!

I think she should leave her kids with a nanny all of the time. Might be the only chance they have at a "normal" life. She and Kevin are just too freaky and trashy to be capable of raising kids.

I'd like to think that Brit is doing the best she can given her age, loser husband, and demands of her career. I think that if a week at the Palms where she can record and sort of 'recamp' with her old manager etc. is what she needs, then she should take it. My mom and dad left us with a nanny plenty of times, and I think I turned out ok. ;) Leaving children with a nanny doesn't mean that you don't love them, or that you are a 'bad parent.' It means (usually) that you can afford full time help and that you have a career that demands travel and an intense focus on work from time to time.

I just can't believe that no one around her tells Britney to clean up her act! Though she put on a brave face at the American Music Awards on Tuesday, Britney Spears was upset by a skit that poked fun at her estranged husband Kevin Federline, sources tell PEOPLE.
"Britney was blindsided and upset," says a source familiar with the situation. "Some people from (her Jive Records) label were with her, and they were pissed. They asked that it not be shown on the (West Coast) feed." (The skit was indeed broadcast on the West Coast.)
In the skit, AMA host Jimmy Kimmel packed a fake K-Fed into a box and threw him into the ocean, calling the hip-hop artist a "the world's first ever no-hit wonder."
Spears was introduced just moments later to present an award to Mary J. Blige. Onstage, she betrayed no anger about the incident. Instead, she smiled and waved and told the crowd, "I'm so happy to be here."

Okay, so this goes for more celebrities than Britney, but since it's current right now, I've got to ask this question: what's the deal with not wearing panties? I can't think of any time in my life I've thought "no, I'm not wearing panties today" and then proceeded to wear a supershort skirt or dress. What gives? Is it just some sort of publicity stunt? Geez, I think whoever hears this divorce/custody case should seriously considering giving custody of those two poor kids to the nanny or manny or Grandma Spears. Dad is off club-hopping with his crew, drinking away his problems and Mom is hanging out with Paris Hilton EVERY.SINGLE.NIGHT. I use to think Britney seemed to be an okay mother, but lately, with her being out all the time, I wonder how often she sees her kids. I don't think I left my 2 month old, let alone my one year alone with anyone three/four straight nights.

Paris and Brit have been painting L.A. and Las Vegas all shades of red over the past couple of weeks, but according to Paris' rep, Elliott Mintz, it's more than just a passing fancy. He tells TMZ that the two are "really forming a bond" and that they're "becoming like sisters." Mintz says that the 24-year-old Spears "looks up to" the 25-year-old Paris and that she's "extremely grateful" that Paris has taken her under her wing. Britney's new post-K-Fed look -- the barely-there skirts, the cleavage-baring tops -- has been "inspired" by Paris, says Mintz. We'd be thrilled if Paris could just get Britney to spit out her gum once in a while.
Brit and Paris are now comfortably ensconced at Britney's house in Malibu, so they can have more quality time while Britney looks after her two boys. Paris acted like a seasoned pro as she maneuvered Brit through the paparazzi at a Hollywood Hills party last night.

Hey, she wants to flush her whole life down the toilet, I guess. I just love how she looked all smug when she dumped the loser, and now has no sense of irony that she's doing the exact same kind of crap she supposedly got sick of him doing. Perfect way to look like the responsible parent. I originally thought Kfed would have no chance in hell of getting joint or sole custody, but after Brit's antics the past few days, while he's lying low, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm so dissapointed in Brit. I thought when she went on David Letterman she had finally cleaned herself up, then a a miracle happened and filed for divorce. Since then it's been all downhill. She really could have turned herself around.
