We had been meaning to put together a list of restaurants in the area. I also want to recommend a new one that is downtown in the midst of all the new development. I took my dad there for lunch today. It's called The Fly. It's on the following list. Their website is not up yet, though. My dad had the grouper sandwich and I had the lamb. Both excellent. Funky and fun atmosphere. Definitely different. I hope it does well! I'm taking Todd there tonight. :)

Also, there is a great wine shop in Clearwater/Safety Harbor that does free wine tastings every Friday night from 5-8; they are always lots of fun. You can sign up on their website for their emails - they send out an email mid-week with the specific wines they will be tasting on Friday. AHhh Meg Yes! I was trying to remember the name of Island Way Grill...there is one other on the beach we took Todd's mom and stepdad to. I cannot remember the name of it, but they had metal menus. Or the cover was metal. Something like that... Thanks for the wine shop info! I'm signing up!

KrissyCat7 I'll add it. We used to go to Bonefish (Swann and Henderson) every Tuesday with a group of people. We'd go have a drink then go to Spartaco. :) They changed the group to Thursday nights so we're going to try to stop in then.

The month of October means many things to many people. But here at the “Top” of Tampa Bay, October means one thing– Oktoberfest!

Set for the weekend of October 27-29 at R.E. Olds Park – the waterfront “jewel” of Oldsmar’s park system – Oktoberfest brings the best of Old Bavaria and New Florida together for three full days of authentic German food, drink, music and dancing ... along with a spectacular carnival & midway, a great arts & crafts show, and the wildest array of audience participation contests that the Tampa Bay area has ever seen!

I've been really bad with keeping this up, sorry!

First, some of you may have heard of this, but my friend just told me about it tonight!

If you're tired of pizza delivery, you can use Dine One One (www.dineoneone.com) to deliver food to you from a number of restaurants. There is a delivery fee that varies from $0 to about $9 depending on how far the restaurant you order from is from your house. They also charge a $1 gas fee. You are going to pay more than if you went and got it yourself, though. For instance, I just placed an order from Outback and got a Queensland Salad, a baked jacket potato and chocolate cake. I added in a 20% tip and my total was $41. That is more than I would have paid at the restaurant, but I figured I'm not going out tonight, so once in awhile it's not bad to pay for the service.

After my order was placed online (you can also do it via phone) they called to let me know they received it, and to verify it was really me. They deliver within one hour, and you can schedule days in advance.

Gasparilla Festival of Arts

Hundreds of Painters, Artisans, Photographers, Sculptors and Jewelers from around the world display their work at the Gasparilla Festival of Arts. The first show began in 1971 and featured 130 artists. In 2005, with 300 Exhibitors, the festival attracted more than 300,000 Art Enthusiasts, making it one of the largest Art Shows in the Southeast.

Festival-goers will find artists in many mediums including Oil Painting, Water Color, Drawing, Graphics, Paper, Fiber, Jewelry, Ceramics, Photography and Sculpture.

Gasparilla Festival of Arts Hours are 9 AM - 6 PM Saturday; 10 AM - 5 PM Sunday. Admission is Free.
