Rylan William's Birth Story

Well where to begin….It all started Thursday morning after I took black and blue cohosh 2 times. I was over due and feeling like it. I really wanted my baby out!!! That morning I had bloody show. I called Connie (my midwife) and my doula (Jeni) and let them know I had bloody show. Nothing else was really happening except I had bloody show around 2 pm and was feeling crampy and VERY tired. Bill decided to come home around 1 pm to help take care of Ashton. That night I went to sleep and was woken up every 15 minutes with mild contractions.

On Friday I was cramping in the morning and the cramps progressed to contractions 7 minutes apart at 2:30 pm. The contractions were slightly painful but continued until the evening. I spoke to Connie that evening and she suggested I drink a glass of wine or take 2 Tylenol. I took the Tylenol at 8 pm and the contractions spaced to 1 hour apart at 10 pm. I got about 4-5 hours of sleep and woke up at 4 am with painful contractions 4 minutes apart. I called Jeni at 5 am and asked her to come as I though it was “birth day”. Jeni headed over and we went for a long walk. My contraction kept coming and were getting stronger. My deep breathing helped so much and helped me let go of the pain. At 8 am Jeni and Bill wanted me to call Connie and let her know what was going on. Connie decided she would come over. I was so excited!!! Bill called his mom and had Ashton picked up. At 9 am my contractions started to go from 4 minutes apart to 8 minutes apart. I was bummed. At 9:30 am my contractions were dying down and Connie arrived. Connie took my vitals and we decided I would be checked. I was apprehensive about being checked as I wanted to be far along in dilatation but knew I could be stilled closed. I was 2 centimeters….I was bummed. Connie said to rest and take some more Tylenol and to know the baby would be here soon. Everyone went home and I tried to sleep.

Saturday became Sunday and my contractions continued to be about 1 hour apart from Saturday night until Sunday at 2 pm. At 2 pm my body seemed to kick into gear. I asked Bill to fill the pool at 5 pm. My contractions went from 7 minutes apart to 3-5 minutes apart at 7 pm. I called Connie and Jeni and both decided to come back over. I have no clue what time both Connie and Jeni arrived. At that point my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and very intense. All I really remember about Connie arriving was that I was jumping into the pool from the shower. As soon as Connie arrived Jeni came then my Mother in law arrived to care for Ashton. Connie set all her supplies and pulled out my birth kit from the closet. Jeni sat with me and helped me breath through the contractions.

Time seem to fly…..Every time I asked what time it was 2-3 hours had passed. At some point I asked Connie if I was really in labor. She smiled and said she does not set up the birth room unless a baby is on the way. My contractions seemed to get more and more intense. Coming every 30 seconds for a long while. The pool was my savior!!! When the pool did not seem to help the shower was a great alternative. Standing up made the contractions 50% worse. Bill, Connie, Jeni and Lisa (Connie’s Asst. as well as a doula) helped me focused and reminded me that it was my body causing the contractions. Connie also reminded me of my faith in God as I had asked her to do in my birth plan. At some point I threw up and the contractions felt overwhelming. Then there was a calm…..I rested my head on the side of the pool. I had about a 5 minute break from the contractions, it was wonderful. Jeni mentioned after the birth that she knew from the calm I would be pushing very soon. She was right. After the calm I felt the urge to push. I was having mixed feelings about pushing as I did not want to push to soon. Connie had not check me at all during the labor and asked if I wanted her to check me now. I agreed and she checked me. I was complete, +1, with my bag of water bulging. With each contraction I pushed with all my might. While squatting and pushing in the pool my water broke with a pop. I turned over in the pool to a semi reclined position and continued to push. Connie asked if I wanted to place my fingers in my birth canal to feel the baby descending. I place my fingers inside my birth canal and felt the baby’s head. As I continued to push I felt the baby’s head come farther and farther down. Soon I felt the baby crowing. It was so intense. Connie had me breathe the baby out so I would not tear. I slowly breathed and gently nudged the baby out. I felt the baby’s head in my hands then Connie said to push to get the shoulders out. I pushed hard and felt the baby slide out of me into my hands. I believe Connie never touched the baby and she told me to pull the baby up out of the water onto my chest.

I felt a rush! I just looked at my new baby and did not even think to look if it was a boy or a girl. Bill said “I think he is a boy” but I did not care it was a baby!!! I did it… I had a natural homebirth in water and gave my baby the best start ever. Finally I looked down and saw a penis. “It’s a boy” I said. Connie asked if I wanted to birth the after birth in the water or my bed. I decided to birth the placenta in my bed. I cut the cord myself once in bed. After a little couching from Connie the placenta was born. Connie and Jeni cleaned me up and took my vitals. Jeni stayed for 1.5 hours after the birth and Connie stayed 2.5 after the birth. Bill and I named our son Rylan William. Rylan was born on Labor Day September 3rd 2007 after 36 hours of predominal labor 7.5 hours of active labor and 36 minutes of pushing. Rylan weighed 9 pounds and 10 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. Rylan was born after 41 week 2 day in my womb.

Rylan is a wonderful baby and we are all enjoying the addition to our family.

Happy birthday Nora!!

Well, we had an u/s on Thursday and it turns out we are expecting twins!!! We are both beyond terrified but excited. I went from a laid back 3rd pregnancy lady to a freaked out, reading every book I can and researching as much as I can pregnant lady.

Congrats on the birth of Rylan, Kim! :D:D

Not much going on over here. Lucas is driving me a little crazy (crazier?). He wants what he wants and he wants it Right. Now. I'm blaming it on being 3. Even though his birthday isn't until next week. ;)

Hello All :D

Happy Birthday to all our babies :) I know they're not babies but to me they always will be :(

Congrats Kim :D

Chelsea, all I could say was, holy crap! Didn't expect to read that as I assume you didn't expect to hear that at the ultrasound :)

We are winding down from a nice summer. Lots of play dates here in the pool and just enjoying the boys. We have all out wars in our house now. Nikolas will push Troi and Troi pushes right back with just as much force. They are starting to learn that for every action there is a reaction and they seem to have slowed down a little.

Took both of them to the dr last Thur and they are doing great. Troi is at 110% for his height. He's already growing out of his 18 month clothes. Nikolas is only at 50%. He still seems tall though compared to the other kids in his class.

Brian was approved for his weight loss surgery from the veterans admin but won't have it until sometime between Jan & Apr of 2008. We don't care because it is free. He also found out that they just started doing the follow up plastic surgery from the weight loss. So he'll be having that done by them too, for free. We couldn't ask for more :D

I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong with my arm. In Nov it will be a year of pain. Am now seeing a neurosurgeon and he's having me do another MRI. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Other than that, life is just crazy here. Two boys is nothing to laugh at. I'll post some videos and pictures soon!

We went swimming after the party. Nikolas got on the tube and stayed up there for about a 1/2 hour. We later found out he was afraid to jump in but didn't want to tell us.

We got the tent for Troi because he's already climbing out of his crib. Well I hear Nikolas one day asking me for help, but in a scared voice. I go in their room to find Nikolas inside the crib with the front closed. He was able to pull the zipper closed but couldn't open it. He was scared because he knew he shouldn't have been in Troi's crib and he was stuck. I thought it was a picture moment.

Three years ago today, I was in a hospital bed watching TV hooked up to a potossin (sp?) drip. Pie Pie wasn't officially born until 11:40pm. Ahhh the good ole days.

Now she's rippin and running and stubborn and doesn't listen. But I love her. Her party is Saturday. Having at an Ice Cream Parlor, just need to bring the cake.

Nothing new with me, as posted above it is Trystins birthday today, turning 8. He is with my ex, his dad for the weekend so I don't get to see him, I'm really bummed but this is the first time he is over there the whole day for his birthday, I guess I have to share sometimes. Happy Belated Joseph & Lucas.

Pie's birthday party turned out great. Only bad thing is that it was only an hour and a half. We could have used another hour. That's the bad thing about not having your party at home, you're on someone else's time.

We are off to Disney 1 month from today. First time for Pie and 2nd for Myles.

Hope is all well with everyone. Who else is on Facebook?? My co-workers got me on there.

Kim- GREAT pics! What little cuties! Andrew is going to be Thomas for halloween!

Steph- How are you feeling and when are you do?

Chelsea- How are you feeling??

Sue- Happy birthday and I can't believe James is one!

Lorraine- Happy birthday to you too!

Andrew is loving preschool. He wakes up every morning and asks to go. He only goes twice a week. Next year we'll enroll him so he can 3 or 4 days though. He is loving all the art projects they do and he also loves to play with the puzzles and his "Friends" at school.

Ashlyn is awesome. She'll be 8 months old next week:eek: She's getting all four of her top teeth at the same time. We haven't been sleeping much. All she wants to do at night is nurse which makes for a tired mommy. Shes doing the army crawl and is about to crawl anyday now. Shes such a happy baby and I feel so blessed to have her here with me.

I'm working on getting a part time work at home job which kinda fell into my lap. I'm going to be consulting, writing, and researching for a guy that Mickey works with. His wife has her own business. It will be about 10 hours a week and I'll work at night or on the weekends. My passion is writing so I'm super excited!

How is everyone else? Cant wait to see pics of the kids in their halloween costumes!

goldengbridge, Corbin is loving school too and asks everyday if he can go, sounds like a perfect job for you, congrats!

I'm feeling pretty good, moved onto the 2nd trimester and feeling more like myself except for the fact that I look and feel 5-6 months pregnant already and am already starting to get back aches all the time. We will hopefully find out what we are having in two weeks, I am so excited!

Whats everyones kids being for Halloween? Trystin and Corbin are being skeletons but Corbin changes his mind at least 3 times a day depending on what his cousins are being, he wants to be Little Mermaid, a pink dragon or Dora, can you tell his cousins are all girls? Its a good thing we have already bought his costume.

Hope everyone is doing well and had fun tonight.

Just wanted to drop in and show you the 2 most adorable kids in my neighborhood. Troi walked around all night like that so the gloves wouldn't fall off. Needless to say he was exhausted when we got home.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So really quickly, Brian found out today that his lap-band surgery will be February 20th. That is 110 days away. We're very excited and nervous at the same time. We'll be heading out to Pittsburg for it, the local V.A. doesn't do it. We also found out that 18 months after the surgery he'll be able to get any needed plastic surgery from the weight loss. The best part about both of these, they are going to be free. We feel very lucky right now.
I went to see my 4th doctor today for the pain that I have had in my arm since November of last year. I was finally diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. (http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/thoracic/thoracic.htm) I'll start physical therapy next week but the dr thinks it may have gone undiagnosed for too long and I may need to have the surgery. Please keep your fingers crossed that I don't need to go that far.
Well I have to go. We have a long day of Ikea shopping tomorrow :D Stay well and post those Halloween pictures!!
Hey ladies, Hope all are doing well.
Back from Disney and I really am not going back for a really LOOONG time, it is so damn expensive. To stay, to eat, to get in the parks. We could have gone to the Caribbean all-inclusive for cheaper. But I digress, the kids loved it. One of these days I'll get around to posting some pics.
I have a dilemma, hope someone can help. Madison has ringworm in her scalp and her Ped doesn't want to prescribe an internal medicine that can kill the fungus because it has adverse affects on the liver in young children. She prescribed a topical solution but although it's not spreading, it's not going away like it would if she had the internal medicine.
Does anyone know of any alternative medications. She's lost a little hair in that spot and I really don't want this to spread. Part of me wants the internal medicine, because I know it will be gone, but I don't want her liver to be affected somewhere down the line.
Hope someone can help.
Hi Everyone :D
Quick Post...
My husband has an interview on Tuesday 20th for a job that he really really really wants. The interview is from 8AM to 12PM, maybe 1PM. He is thankful for having a job now, but he's not happy in his current position. It's the same thing every day and he's bored. This position would challenge him everyday and he really really really wants it.
So can you please send good job interview vibes his way and just say a little prayer on Tuesday that the hiring managers will agree with me that he's the best candidate for the job?
Thanks :D
Alternative treatment
The fungal infection ringworm can be treated with homeopathic remedies. Among the homeopathic remedies recommended are:
sepia for brown, scaly patches
tellurium for prominent, well-defined, reddish sores
graphites for thick scales or heavy discharge
sulphur for excessive itching.
Topical applications of antifungal herbs and essential oils also can help resolve ringworm. Tea tree oil (Melaleuca spp.), thuja (Thuja occidentalis), and lavender (Lavandula officinalis) are the most common. Two drops of essential oil in 1/4 oz of carrier oil is the dose recommended for topical application. Essential oils should not be applied to the skin undiluted. Botanical medicine can be taken internally to enhance the body's immune response. A person must be susceptible to exhibit this overgrowth of fungus on the skin. Echinacea(Echinacea spp.) and astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) are the two most common immune-enhancing herbs. A well-balanced diet, including protein, complex carbohydrates, fresh fruits and vegetables, and good quality fats, is also important in maintaining optimal immune function.
What a big boy for being 4 weeks early! Judi said she only pushed 3 or 4 times and Alex was born. She sounds estatic and says that so far Alex is a quiet baby!
Chelsea- Do you know what you're having yet?
We find out on Wed!!! I am so excited
Last week was a rough week and it just got worse. My oldest, Trystin, was up in the hospital most of the week with pnuemonia(sp?) and with his asthma was just having a hard time so they kept him there most of the week. They let him go on Thursday night but his dr sent him back Friday for a while because he was getting sick again, they did an x-ray, gave him a breathing treatment and sent him home. Well, today I get a call from his dr saying his x-ray showed a problem with his heart, something to do with one of the chambers looking too small. He has to go in to get an EKG done next week. I really don't know what goes along with to small of a chamber or what it really means as far as treatment, guess I need to start reading up on all that stuff. I'm guess I am gled the dr sent him back in for an x-ray or it could have gone unnoticed. Good grief, can we please get a freaking break? I am worn out on medical problems for the week. Lets just hope my u/s doesn't add any more problems.
OK vent over, thanks!
Thanks for the good thoughts on Trystin, I'll keep you posted.
On the twins, we had our u/s and looks like we are having one of each!!! I am beyond thrilled. We found out the girl first and at first I was hoping for two girls but I could tell dh was nevous, he really wanted one to be a boy(don't know why it mattered since we already have two boys) so it was great to see his smile when they said the other was a boy.
We're supposed to go to the IL's on Sat but I was at the ped's office last nihjt with Claire. Poor kid has pink eye and an ear infection. Then we walked back into the house and she promptly threw up all over the floor. So we'll see what happens. I just hope James doesn't catch it!!!
I've been thinking the same thing, Congrats to you!
marathongirl- I hope Claire is feeling better, thats no fun during the holidays
Not much new with me, babies are both growing and getting bigger, they are both still breech and are starting to run out of room to turn so I may be in for a C/S, I really hope not but I am just preparing myself for that and will be happily surprised if I don't need one.
I am going to try and get Trystin in for his EKG on Monday but I am not nearly as worried about it as I once was. My sister brought up a good point, your heart is beating constantly and you can't really tell it to hold still during an xray so it may have just been in the middle of a beat and thats why one of the chambers looked small. I don't know if that is accurate or if the dr takes that into consideration and it still looked wrong but it made me feel better about it.
Hello All :D
It has been forever for me here. We've been super busy this past month. I pretty much worked everyday to pay for all the Christmas presents, which I did (for the most part). My FIL gave us gift cards to ToysRUs for the boys stuff :)
Chelsea How is Trystin doing? And congrats on the twins, one of each, how cool.
Steph & EZ CONGRATS, CONGRATS, CONGRATS. I have to say I'm a little jealous of all these pg's going around here. I want another one so bad.
I'm sorry if I missed anyone, but I always think of my momma's here. You are the ladies I became a new mommy with.
So Brian didn't get the job. He thought he would but it just didn't happen. He actually thinks his mgr wouldn't approve him leaving so he has an investigaion w/HR going right now. It just doesn't seem feasible that for all the interviews he's had he hasn't gotten one bite, not even a second interview. His mgr is famous for not ok'ing employees to move up in the company. So we shall see what happens.
We've all been sick since the beginning of Dec. We are all on antibiotics :(
So we have some big news. Nikolas is finally potty training. We started on Saturday and so far he's doing good. Today was the first day w/no accidents. We have the timer set for every 1/2 hour. Sometimes he goes, sometimes he doesn't. I know it's going to take some time, but it's a start. I just don't know what's going to happen when he goes to school. They will take him, but not be able to every 1/2 hour like we do. So we shall see.
Hope everyone had a good new year. We were in bed at 11:50 and pretty much asleep by 12:05 :rolleyes:
Lorraine - so sorry to hear about Brian's job!!!
Things here are interesting... DH got a new job - starts 2/4/08. I'm not sure if it's a good move or not. Time will tell. I'm working P/T at a local quilt shop and at Claire's school. So much for my chemistry degree. :rolleyes: James still isn't walking. Or sleeping for that matter. :mad::( And we're interviewing contractors to demolish our kitchen b/c our dishwasher is going and only 1 burner on our stove works. :mad: Plus our kitchen looks like something out of the 70's :).
Hope to hear from you all soon!
Hope Hubby's job goes well, and he likes it.
Is there ever a good time??!!!
Where is everyone???
Hello all :D
Once again it's been super busy here. So Brian didn't get that other job, however he was in Fort Worth TX on Thur interviewing for another position. Plus he has an upcoming interview in Orlando in the next week or two. The job in Ft. Worth looks really good though, so we're keeping our fingers crossed.
So I've been going super crazy trying to see what we would do w/our house, what we would get there, trying to figure out how everything would go. Basically, no matter where we go, if we stay with Lockheed, they would pay for everything in a move, including a house hunting trip for us. We'd rent out our house here so I wouldn't have to be here alone w/o him.
So if we get a good offer from either one, we may be moving. But, then there is also his mgr here that is trying to get him a promotion and raise.
So as you can see it's been very busy :) Boys are doing great. Nikolas is finally going peepee on the potty and holding it throughout the day. And yesterday we had our first poopie, which you all know is a HUGE deal.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I'll keep you all updated as to what is going on.
Everythings going good my way, Trystin had his ekg last week and every thing looked great so thats a big relief, thanks for everyones well wishes for him. Hello all :D
It has been insane here on the job front, Orlando & Fort Worth...
So we fell in love with Fort Worth because of the size of the houses and the price. But the move would have been lateral w/maybe a small pay increase. However the cost of living there would have been less than here so esentially we would be making more money. Brian felt really good in the interview and was 95% sure he had it.
We really didn't research Orlando. He had the interview and 1/2 way through the manager stopped taking notes so he didn't think he did good. Orlando has a higher cost of living but the weather is much nicer there. Nikolas' godmother, who is my best friend of 35 years would only be 2 hours away. Her dad and brother live outside of Orlando. But Brian really loved the prospect of working this job. He said it would be right up his alley.
So this morning at 8 Brian gets a call at work. He was offered the job in........
ORLANDO!!!!!!!! He called me and I couldn't believe it. He was so excited but had some concerns. He didn't think the pay would be enough for us to survive down there but I told him we'd make it work. He still wanted to call TX to see what was going on with them because we'd still be better off there financially and the person he talked to told him there was a hiring freeze down there. So we knew it would be Orlando. (*Notice how the word knew is in italics.)
Fast forward to 9:15. Brian's HR person calls him to talk to him about another job here and he tells her not to worry he got an offer this morning and she says something along the lines of, "yes, the xx position, congrats." The xx position is the job in Fort Worth :eek: She told him they spoke very highly of him and he had that job. So it seems the person Brian spoke to this morning in Fort Worth didn't know that. She told him to wait until Monday and if he doesn't have something in hand, to call her and she'll find out what they are waiting for.
So, we have a definate offer in hand, and 99% sure we'll have another one coming in within the next few days. But either way if we don't get one from Fort Worth, we still have Orlando.
My head is spinning right now. I can't even think straight. All I know is that I need to start looking at houses in Orlando now too :D
Niko&Troi
01-24-2008, 08:03 AM
I guess I should also say that Nikolas is finally potty trained :D We still have accidents, and he's still in pull ups at night & at school but otherwise he's in his big boy underwear. He has his accidents when he doesn't want to stop playing but now he realizes if he does go in his pants he spends more time away from playing w/having to shower, etc. so I think it's finally setting in :) But I do believe that we purchased our last box of pull-ups until Troi that is :)
Chelsea524
01-25-2008, 07:05 AM
Congrats Lorraine, thats just great! And yay on Niko being pottytrained!!
Niko&Troi
01-27-2008, 09:56 AM
Well we thought about it and we're moving to Orlando :D He's going to sign the acceptance letter tomorrow and it will be official. The next few weeks for us are going to be insane. Brian is having his lap-band surgery in 23 days. We have to try to get a house hunting trip done befor that. We're about 95% sure we'll be able to find something on that trip with the market the way it is. We also have to decide what we're going to do with this house. So it's going to be crazy here, but we're ready for it.
The saving grace is that Lockheed is going to pay for everything for us. They are going to pay for a 10 day house hunting trip (airfare, hotel, car & meals), the move, give us spending cash equal to one month's salary, ship our cars, pack, move & unpack us, get the dogs there, put up us in a hotel there if the house isn't ready, get us a rental car until ours arrive, pay for us to get there when we do move, and reimburse us for all food once the movers take our things until we get them back.
The only thing we're not sure about is our house here. We read in the relo pkg that the relo company will buy the house, but we're not sure how that will go and what the catch will be. We may just end up renting it out but then we have to take the pool out of the yard :eek: So we have to see how that's going to go.
But other than that, we feel this is going to be good for us. I can't wait to get into the warmer weather :) So these next few weeks are going to be insane here, but we're ready, after all, this will be our 8th move in 12 years so we're pros at this, but our first with 2 kids so we shall see.... You guys will send cards and flowers to the insane asylum for me won't you :D
The offer letter says he can start any Monday after March 10th. We're going to try to stretch it out as much as possible so we can get everything we need to done.
I forgot to mention, that this move will also bring a huge pay increase for us. Lockheed does their raises in Feb, so he'll get his raise, and then another 6% on top of that due to the promotion :D And FL doesn't have state income tax, so we're happy :D
Hello everyone :D
Our house is oficially going on the market tonight. The painter is here now, Brian is finishing up the kitchen and the realtor will be here at 6:30 to put the sign out and put a lock box on our front door.
Brian starts the new job March 10th. So with or without me he has to go. If we sell right away then of course I can go. If by the time he leaves we haven't sold, then we're going to think about renting out the house, but we really don't want to do that.
So please cross you fingers, pray and send over all the luck you can spare that our house will be sold quickly. My sister ordered a St. Joseph for us for the yard and that should be here anyday. But even still we need everything we can get. Brian is already starting to get upset that he may have to go without us and he won't get to see the boys everyday. He knows that they won't really understand what is going on, they'll just know daddy isn't home.
Thanks in advance. I know if anyone can get this house sold, it's all my fellow mommies :D
We're good here. Andrew has been sick with a cold but doing well otherwise. He had a 6 month checkup in Philly last week and everything looks great! So relieved about that! He's loving school and hes speaking so much now.
So we moved St. Joseph today by the for sale sign. When we moved him, I told Nikolas we had to pray to him. So I say, "St. Joseph, please help us" and Nikolas says, "sell our house". I guess I have this ingrained in his head from saying it so much :o Nikolas then says to me, he wants to talk to St. Joseph alone and then says, "St. Joseph please help us sell our house so we can be with daddy". I lost it. Balling on the front lawn. This has been an emotional roller coaster ride and it's still going and I want to get off now :/
We were on our way out yesterday and this couple was sitting in front of our house. We asked if they wanted to see it and they said yes. Brian took them through. We found out that their friends live 6 houses down from us and told them about the house. When they were leaving the lady told me that she really likes my house and it's the cleanest one she's seen so far. They also told us they are going to call their realtor tomorrow. I am cautiously keeping my fingers crossed.
Hello all :D
Quick post...
Brian will be going in for his lap band surgery at 8:30 tomorrow morning (Wed 20th). Please say a prayer that the surgeon's do their job well and that he comes through ok. With all this mess going on with the house I was not able to go to Pittsburg with him for it, so I'm going to be on pins and needles waiting the phone to ring. So maybe add me in that prayer too that I don't go insane waiting for the dr to call.
Thank you all in advance. I will come back as soon as I hear from the doctor!
Bad timing for it all, isnt it
You hit that nail right on the head!!! I wanted to go so badly with him and I feel horrible because he won't have anyone there. His dad can't be there either.
I wanted to go, and was going to go for the day. I had it planned. Drive to Harrisburg tonight and drop off the boys to a friend. Then drive the 3 hours on to Pittsburg in the morning to be there. But then my realtor calls me today to tell me that she's having a realtor open house here Thur from 11 to noon so I have to be here to clean the floors before they all come in (the rest of the house is spotless, I clean every day now), which would have meant I'd would have had to leave Harrisburg late in the evening or first thing Thur morning. I would have been exhausted. But I wanted to do it. However, the topper was when Nikolas vomited all over his pillow today, after having 3 very loose bowel movements. Stomach virus :( So that decided for me, we're not going :(
Brian's aunts are going to check in on him tomorrow after the surgery. The girl I was going to leave the boys with may go there some time tomorrow too.
I really am heart broken about not being able to be there, to the point of tears. Even though this is elective surgery, it's still surgery and I wanted to be there for him :(
I'm doing pretty good, I am feeling so done with this pregnancy and can't wait for it to be over but at the same time I want to go as long as I can, I just want the next 8 weeks to fly by, I am hoping to make it as close to 40 weeks as I can since I am off work until after the babies come, I want to spend as much time as I can with Corbin and Trystin before they get here.
Hello All :D
Thanks for the well wishes ladies. Brian is doing fine. Since the surgery 13 days ago, he's lost 17 pounds, the bulk of it in the first week. However he thinks the majority is "poopies" as his clothes aren't fitting any looser. It is amazing to see him eat. This man used to have a full plate full of food and then sometimes a second helping. Now he has maybe 5 bites and he's full. So I've had to downsize my cooking and I'm trying to eat less too. I've lost 7 pounds since we put the house on the market 4 weeks ago. It's not a lot, but it's a start.
Brian and I were heading out a few weeks ago and we saw a couple sitting in front of our house writing down the info on the for sale sign. We asked them if they wanted to see it and they said yes. So Brian showed it to them and the wife said she loved my house and they would call their realtor to see it. Well 2 weeks passed with nothing and then this past Sat they came back. Well last night we got an offer from them. They low balled us big time, but we countered. So we are cautiously keeping our fingers crossed and waiting to see what happens. If all goes well, we'll close on April 15th. We shall see.
The boys are doing great too. We had Nikolas 99.9% potty trained but when Brian left he reverted back. Now we're back to about 98% fully potty trained but Brian leaves this Saturday for Orlando to start work on Monday and I'm not sure what's going to happen :(
Troi is doing good too. Growing in leaps and bounds and just amazing. He really isn't talking yet so we're going to have him evaluated to see what's going on. Hopefully it's just laziness.
Well I have to run. Take care and keep your fingers crossed please :)
Yup,Ashlyn turned one last Saturday! I can't believe it! She started walking a few days before. In fact shes almost fully walking now and hardly crawls. When Andrew began walking he did both for quite some time. She is just getting so big.
Andrew is great. He's been very healthy and we feel so blessed. He's loving preschool and asks everyday if he can go to school (he only goes twice a week) We enrolled him for 4 days next year so he'll love that. I took the kids to the park yesterday since the weather was so great here and he played and ran around with all the other kids for almost 2 hours. I think we'll all ready for spring!
I hope everyone else is doing well! How are all of our preggos?
Quick update...
The inspection went well. My realtor talked to their realtor and there are only 3 things they are asking for. That may change with the actual addendum but she doesn't get that vibe from him. Some wires need to be capped in the ceiling and they want us to remove the empty oil tank in the basement. Those 2 we can work out. The third, we don't think we can, they want us to move the closing date up to the end of March. That means we'd have to be out of here in 2 weeks. I don't think that can happen, and honestly I don't want to be rushed like that. They can have it after we move on the 4th though.
So it went well and I'm off to Florida :D Now my next hurdle is going to be finding a house for us :) A hurdle I'm willing to jump super high for :p ;)
Brian is doing great too :) When he left last Sat he had already lost 22 pounds. I'm loosing weight too, but it's a stress diet :p
Babies are here!
Last Wed night I started having contractions but they were so mild I didn't think anything of it, they continued until my NST on Thursday morning and the NST showed they were coming every 2-3 mins, went up to see my dr, he checked me and I was at 4cm so he sent me down to L&D to get steriod shots for their lungs and to try to stop or delay labor. We were able to hold out until Saturday morning but those two days I was contracting every 90 secs and wasn't allowed to eat just in case I had to get my c/s right then, it was a terrible two days. Saturday my water was bulging and the dr didn't think I would make it any longer so we had the c/s, 34 weeks 1 day. They are both doing pretty well, Avery was 4lbs 10oz and Harrison was 5lbs 13 oz, both were on oxygen at first but Avery is off it now, Harrison will hopefully be off it today. They've each had a few minor issues but are very healthy and just need to learn to eat to come home, Harrison is doing great on BFing, we only get to do it twice a day but he is doing so well that hopefully we can increase that, Avery is not so great at BFing, the second I hold her and get her ready she falls asleep, no matter how awake and hungry she was before. They haven't given any target date of when they can come home but my guess is in 1-2 weeks. I just got released tody and it is pretty hard being home without them, but I was missing my other two kids so bad too that I couldn't win either way. I'll try and get some pics up soon, they look so different from eachother, they don't even look like brother and sister, let alone twins, its pretty funny.
Hello All :D
I just wanted to report on our house hunting trip to Florida. After about 30 houses we finally found one...
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2109/2364818547_2cd78caa9b_m.jpg
It is everything I was looking for. Over 2,000 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and a den downstairs that will be a playroom. Plus it has some extra's that we weren't looking for but got anyway. It is brand new, (the deal fell through on the builder) and it is on a lake. We're going to need a fridge, washer & dryer, but the first priority is a fence! And it is completely white so it's going to need some paint :rolleyes:
Here is a link (http://www.flickr.com/gp/44363860@N00/v0hK5v) to see more pictures of it.
We're going to be in St. Cloud. We're 25 minutes away from Brian's job and all the Disney parks. I'm super excited that we found something.
And things have been crazy here lately. We got back late Sunday from Florida and now we're preparing for the move. They'll be here Thur to pack us up and Friday to load the truck. I have to say that I'm starting to get emotional now knowing that we're leaving. I'm ready for Florida, but Delaware is where my babies were born and it's sad leaving. But we'll make new memories down there.
Ok, have to run, things to be done. I'll try to be back sometime soon.
Congrats!! So far the twin thing is going great for me, but I'm sure that will change very soon when they are actually awake:p I will help anyway I can, but so far I am loving it!!!
We found out yesterday that Avery has a problem with her spine or spinal cord or something like that, I'm not even sure yet, but it is going to require surgery, please keep her in your thoughts or prayers, it is breaking my heart that she had to spend almost two weeks in the NICU being poked at all the time and now she has to go through this, I feel so bad for my baby and scared because I have no idea what is wrong other than she has a hole in her back that goes down to her spine and has a tangle in her spinal cord. I don't know what damage this will cause or what the surgery involves yet and I am just pleading for the phone to ring, her dr still hasn't called me today to tell me anything and I have called 3 times already.
Congrats Tami :D
Chelsea, we'll be keeping all of you in our prayers. Please let us know how it goes.
I haven't been in here in forever. My new motto is "life is what happens when you make plans". But before I tell you about life, let me tell you all that Troi is finally talking. It's not complete sentences yet but he's putting words together. Every time he says something new my heart just pounds and my eyes swell up. I still want to get him tested, he may have trouble speaking, he seems like he's struggling with his tongue when he talks.
So on to our life, our house in Delaware never sold :( They were supposed to close on the 15th but on the 11th we found out that they never got their mortgage commitment. The mrtg company wanted more paperwork from them. So we pushed the closing back to April 30th. The buyers got every single piece of paperwork the mrtg company wanted and it sat in underwriting. Well April 30th has come and gone and we still own the house in DE :( We have extended the contract one more time until the 13th of this month. Everyone involved keeps telling us that they will get a mortgage, it's just a matter of when. Well if they don't close by the 13th, we're going to have to rent it out. We can't financially afford to leave it empty but for so long.
And, with that being said, we couldn't close on our house down here. But I'm ok with that. I have to believe their is a reason why our house didn't sell in DE. The builder did extended our contract out to the end of May, but now we're not sure if we want that house. We literally rushed to get it cause we thought we had to find a place, but now we're questioning it. We may just tell them no, and get a short term rental and learn the area a little better. Maybe move closer to Brian's job.
And, a new "wrench" has just been thrown into it. Brian calls me on Thursday and asks me if he can get a job that would make him $180k in a year. So my first question is doing what? It seems his company sends contractors over to Iraq and Afghanistan all the time for a year and they need people to go. From what Brian said, they are desperate for people to go. I told him to look into it and put his name on the list and see what happens. It is not the ideal work situation, but it is only a year and that sort of money would greatly help us.
So, with all of these new developments going on maybe this is the reason why we're not supposed to get the house. With that sort of money we could afford something a little closer to Brian's job. And then I also have in the back of my head that if he's gone a year, I may go back to Virginia and be around family, so buying a house right now is not a good idea.
So as you can see, it's been crazy here. We're still in the hotel room, and it's paid until this Thursday and then we have to start paying on our own. We still have no idea what we're going to do yet, but we are looking at short term rentals right now. There are a ton out there, but the only problem is finding one that will take my rottie Sophie. They have such a bad rap but if they knew her, they would adore her. This is the dog that both Nikolas and Troi sit on and say go horsey, she doesn't have en evil bone in her body.
So keep your fingers crossed ladies that this all works out. It has been very stressful for us lately. I'll come back and update as soon as I know what's going on.
Hello All :D
We have some news, our house finally sold :D Today at 1:20 my realtor called me to tell me they closed on it. Initally I wanted to take a break from all of this and start next week looking for a house here, but that thought only lasted a minute. I'm heading out first thing tomorrow morning to start looking. My realtor here has told me that there are 30 houses for every buyer, I need to get my butt moving.
And in other news, my baby will be 2 tomorrow :( I can't believe how quickly he is growing up. He is talking up a storm now. We're renting a house in Kissimmee right now and have to drive past farms to get anywhere. Well we'll go past this one farm and he'll start screaming from the back seat, "mommy mommy, look a da moo's". And when we go by and the cows aren't out, he'll say, "mommy wha da moo's". I think it is the cutest thing I've ever heard. I can't believe this is the same boy who I thought would not say a word.
I have to shout out a congrats to Steph .
Hope everything is going well and you are adjusting well to a family of 4!!!
Lorraine - what a relief to sell the house!!
I was under the same pressure last year, it's not fun!!
Hope it's smooth sailing from now on and you find one that's perfect for you!!!
(Did Brian decide on the job offer??)
Me - things are going well. Acually, as much as I loved being PG the first time with Isabelle...I'm not liking it so much this time.
No offense to the twins or anything (of course)
But - just not the happiest Preggger ont he block...maybe just nerves or fear of the unknown...either way..I'll be happy when I have them.
To all others - Not sure if you are lurking or not...but thinking of you all and I hope all of you are well....
It would be nice to hear from everyone again...
Wow, look at that, we moved on to the big kids group thread, I guess our babies are babies no more!
Tammi hows the pregnancy going?? How far along are you now, you must be getting close!
Things are going great here, Harrison has started sleeping through the night pretty much, he is up awfully early at 5:30 but that is when DH gets up for work so I wake up too, I just pull him in bed with me and try to get another hour out of him. Avery is doing great as well, still waking up 1-2 times a night but goes back down pretty easily now. Corbin is pretty frustrating with the twins, he just cannot leave them alone and is constantly trying to help but ends up waking them up or making them cry and just makes things so much harder, I wish he was either a little older so he would know better or a little younger so he wouldn't think he had to be so helpful. Other than that everything is great
HI everyone. The boys are growing and being crazy. Two boys are a handful. We bought a Kia Sedona last night and I love having all the room. The boys are loving having there own seats as well. My camery was getting too tight and the engine was giving us a headach.
Ashton is in camp for four weeks in the AM. He loves it. I never thought he would but he comes home laughing and talking about all the great things they do each day. When I droped him off this morning they were headed to a hay ride. Ashton starts preschool in September. It is a preschool co-op so I will be there alot.
Rylan is 9.5 months and taking 1-2 steps unassisted. He is all over the place and will give me an even bigger run for my money then Ashton did. We attended our first mommy and me class this Monday and he had no interest in the other babies. He loved the siblings of the babies. He just wants and thinks he is a big boy.
I starting nursing school in May and have been plenty busy with that. I was crazy to think I could go to school and SAH with 2 kiddos. It is working but hopefully I will get into the groove a little better as the months go on.
Hope eveyone has a wonderful summer. I love reading all the updates.
Just 3 weeks away from Corbin turning 4!! I can't believe how old they all are, time sure has flown by. Corbin is quite the handful with the twins and I think its because he sometimes gets lost in the shuffle and I feel so sad about that, Trystin can help quite a bit with the babies when I need an extra set of hands but Corbin wants to help just as much which causes a lot more problems. I am trying to give him things that he can help with like grabbing a diaper for me or giving a pacifier but he still just gets left out. I think I am going to make a date night for me and him some time in the next week and then one with Trystin as well, it may have to be a group date night with all three of us because I don't think I can escape twice. Other than that everyone is good, babies are getting big so fast, already 4 months. Hope everyone else is doing great
Chelsea- Your twins are beautiful!
Tami- How are you holding up?? When are you due?
How is everyone else?
I haven't been on CC in the longest time! I do update my LJ pretty regulary though. Things are going well here! I'm in denial that Andrew will be 4 in a month! He is great- demanding- but great! Health wise he is wonderful! He only goes to the cardiologist every 6 months. He loved preschool last year and is counting down the days till he goes back in Sept. He started speech therapy a few months back and its helped so much!
Ashlyn will be 17 months tomorrow:eek: Where does time go? I feel like I just had her! She's a walking, running, talking crazy woman! I just began the weaning process with her and we're taking things really slow right now. She continues to amaze me everyday.
I feel so blessed to have these two wonderful kids. We're talking about maybe trying for another so we'll see. If we do I want to wait till spring. Pregnancy never came easy for me and the constant worry and anxiety was really hard while I was pg with Ash and I'm not exactly sure I want to go through that again. I'll keep you udpated!
We leave for vacation (Assateague Island, MD) on saturday. It's our first vacation in 3 years and we need it SO bad. I'm so looking forward to sitting on the beach with the kids and relaxing!
Hope everyone is well!!:)
Hey ladies :)
I haven't been in here in forever, things have been busy. We'll hopefully be closing on our house on the 1st. Keeping my fingers crossed that we can, we'd be in by our anniversary if we do.
The boys are doing good, getting so big :( I can't believe my baby will be 4 soon. I ask him at least once a week to stay my baby and not grow up and he tells me he has to grow up, but he promises to get me another baby.
So Nikolas is pretty much potty trained with the occassional accident, but we're good for the most part. I didn't think it would ever happen after the move here, everything he knew was out the window. My fear is that moving again he's going to regress, but he knows the next move he'll be getting his toys and a new bed, so I think we should be ok with it.
I have to remember that Nikolas is like a little tape recorder. We went out yesterday and he runs to his side of the car and I hear him say, "Jesus Christ" (thanks daddy). When I ask him what is wrong, he says "that bug scared the crap out of me" (thanks me) :o It took all I had not to laugh but I told him not to say that, and he says "but you say it all the time mommy, why can't I"?
And we've started planning his party. We're doing power rangers. Nikolas has already told us he wants to be a power ranger super hero when he grows up. Brian tells him there is no money to buy daddy a house as a super hero. But I think we may have a baseball player on our hands. He hits 99% of the balls that we throw at him and he has a pretty good swing. Once we're settled we're going to look into t-ball for him. He seems to like it.
Well time to start dinner. Stay well and I'll be back w/pictures once I get them uploaded.
Last year Troi was barely keeping his head above water and it was a huge accomplishment for him to swim a foot from one person to another. Nikolas would literally freak out if his face got even a drop of water on it. Fast forward to today :( They are growing up so quickly :(
Happy Birthday Pie Pie! Kelly, if you read this I'd love to see a new pic of Pie and her cheeks:)
The nuchal went great! We had to wait awhile before they took us back and I was having a little bit of a anxiety attack waiting. As soon as the sonographer put the transducer on my belly, the baby was flipping around and kicking his legs like crazy. The sonographer commeneted that we have a swimmer on our hands, lol! Everything looked really good, measuring right on target and the nuchal fold looked perfect. I'll find out how the bloodtest went probably at the end of next week or early the next week but I'm so relieved that everything else looked good. They want to do cervix checks from 17 weeks till about 24 weeks to make sure everything looks good there. We still don't know what happened with Jacob and the Dr said he wants to err on the side of caution and I completely agree. I have a heart check and cervix check on 10/24 and my level 2 20 week scan on 11/7 and we'll go from there.
I feel like I can finally breathe a little easier for now at least. I'll have a fetal echo on the baby in October when we take Andrew to Philadelphia for his appointment. I just can't wait to see a 4 chamber heart!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Golden I am so glad to hear the nuchal went great! Sorry I am late coming in here but I am so glad to hear everything is looking great so far and that the dr is keeping a close eye on you.
Avery had her MRI last week and we confirmed she does need to go in for surgery, she has whats called a tethered cord and it needs fixed or she will be paralized later on in life. She is going in on Monday(13th) to have it done, I didn't expect it to be quite so quick after the MRI, don't have much time to process everything but I know she will do great and I have full confidence in this dr, he is the head neurosurgon at the childrens hospital here. Keep her in your thoughts next week if you could though, I may have full confidence in him but I am still worried to death.
It said I last visited in May 08, that is just terrible! So much happening, congrats to all the new mommies. I can't believe we have 2 new sets of twins.
I work in the financial industry and I've been crazy to say the least.
chelsea hope all goes well for Avery.
golden congrats to you. Glad all is good with the pregnancy. I have been so lazy about uploading pics of Pie, so give me a week. There is never free time.
marathon thanks for remembering Pie on her Bday, where did our babies go?
Shout out to those I've missed.
Just a quick reader's digest version of what's been happening with us: changed Pie's pre-school, which she cried and fought for a month (literally cried all day) she's adjusted now. But next year we start Kindergarten and I hope we don't go through this again.
Question: any of you moms keeping your kids out of K until the following year due to them having late birthdays?? Just curious, Pie will turn 5 in Sep 09 and the cutoff is 10/1, so she just makes it, but she will be one of the youngest in her class.
DS almost took his left eye out. Playing football in a neighbor's yard and he climbs into another yard to grab the football and when he stands up, he turns into a pole/pipe that was hanging off the side of a grill. Rushed to ER and they didn't know what to do with him, DH requested a plastic surgeon, they transported him to ps for the stitches. Thank god it was the area around his eye and not his actually eyeball. So it's been 3 weeks and he has a crescent shaped scar around his eye, which will fade over time (I hope). His modeling agency called for him to do an epi of 30 Rock and we had to turn them down. Not sure how long I can stall them for other projects before I have to fess up what happened.
Anywho, on a lighter note we are going to Turks & Caicos in December, we were scheduled to go to 11/1, but Hurricane Gustav or Ike, don't remember, took it's toll, so the owner has closed the resort (Beaches) until 11/15. We had to push it back until Dec, I hope owner re-opens on time.
I have missed you girls and promise to be back.
Jen - glad your nuchal went smoothly!
Chelsea - good thoughts coming your way for Avery!
Kelly - sorry about DS's eye! That must have been scary! As far as kindergarten, I'm on the fence. The cutoff around here is also 10/1 so Claire would most likely be the youngest in her class. She is in all her preschool classes. I'll see what happens in the next few months.
Hope all is well with everyone else!
Wow, I have not been here in a long time either. Work is crazy, life is crazy!
First off - Sue, I can not believe that James is 2. Where did that time go?
Chelsea - I hope everything is ok!
Quick update on us...
Kylie is loving school. She goes 5 days a week now for 1/2 day. She is writing her name - which amazes me. They started by writing the kid's names in highlighter for them to trace over and now she can write in on her own. She takes ballet on Saturdays and it is just so stinkin cute. She will be going to Kindergarten next year. Our cutoff is 12/1, so she will be young, but not the youngest.
Kaitlyn started preschool as well. She goes 2 days a week for 1.5 hours. The first month did not go so well, but now she actually goes in smiling, so I think we are ok. The first few weeks were nothing but crying! She was 2 in July and just seems so much older to me than Kylie did at this age, but I guess that is what happens with the second one.
The girls are anxiously awaiting Halloween. Kylie is going to be Sleeping Beauty and Kaitlyn is going to be a pink poodle. I had to stash their costumes though, because if I did not, they would be trashed by Halloween.
I can't believe that October is almost over. I have already started Christmas shopping. The time is flying.
Hope everyone is well!
Chelsea-Please keep us updated. I'll be thinking about Avery!
Happy Birthday James! I can't believe he's two!
Kindergarden- Andrew will be staying back a year. Academically, he's ready but maturity and socially, he's behind. He's in a catholic preschool now and he'll stay there for elementary school and they have a late cut off so technically he could go but I'd rather hold him back a year till he's really ready.
Andrew went to Philly last week for his yearly checkup and got a great report! His heart function looks great and he's good for another year! I feel so blessed that he is doing well! They were amazed at how big he is! Heart kids are usually small but not him! He's 42 lbs!
I'm 16 weeks today and feeling good! M/S finally passed and I'm getting my energy back. I had a early fetal echo done on the baby last week while we were in Philly and things look good so far! I go back on 11/19 for a follow up. The tech was pretty sure this little one is a boy! But we'll have final confirmation next week when I see the Peri!
