So many babies!!! Congrats to all the new arrivals, if I can't name them all individually.
I keep thinking "I've got to take these socks off, they are too tight" then I realize I'm not WEARING socks, it's my damn skin that's getting too tight...
I feel the same way! I can't remember the last time I was actually able to poit my toe or stretch out my ankles, the skin is just too tight!
Happy September Ladies!!! It really feels like fall all of a sudden here. Chilly and rainy!
I have been sleeping poorly, waking up every hour, it's torture to roll over to another side, but I have to or my hips just kill me. I really hope I don't hae much longer, but I could use a couple of days to myself after work ends on Tuesday.
ILs arrive tomorrow to help out before the baby comes. I'm hoping to get some more laundry done, get my hospital bag packed, and maybe get a few dinners in the freezer.
Hope everyone has a great weekend, and we see lots more babies arriving soon!
Happy Baby Month!!
I am so excited this month is finally here. I love being able to tell people I am having a baby this month (as my OB won't let me go past the 26th). No more than 25 days to go :)
I will get a good update done in here this weekend and do up all the MommyIDs with baby pictures :D If you do not want your babys picture added please let me know. I know some people may be concerned about having their babys picture in a public place.
Kate I am so glad you got it. I LOVE the blanket. I've made one for so many of my friends as it is so soft.
Cosmic I didn't have time to call the PO yesterday but I will try them sometime before lunch. it does seem rather strange it would take so long.

Camdynlyn Hopefully labor day weekend will bring labor on for you!! Yay for the last day of work.
Itching My skin has been itching like mad recently. This morning I put on lotion and am hoping that that will help, but it is getting to the point that I may have to call my doctor. I remember that someone had PUPPS rash - does anyone know if that is just intense itching or if that it is an actual rash on the skin? My skin doesn't look any different, I just can't stop itching it! I might have to buy some gold bond lotion at lunch if it doesn't get any better.
Suiej That is so nice of your in laws to help get things ready before the baby arrives. I am kicking myself for not asking my parents to come down for one more weekend of help since I have way too many things to do. I might ask MIL if she wants to spend Monday cooking with me to make meals to freeze. She might get a kick out of that and it would really help me!

Good morning ladies! For some reason I am so happy this morning, I am feeling very optimistic and feel like I can eat the world!! Must be because this is OUR month!!!!!!!
Desperate times call for desperate measures… DH and I went for our 3 miles walk last night and after that we went to this restaurant in town (we drove 30min just to get take out from them), it is an Italian restaurant and they guarantee you that you in labor within 48hrs after you eat their eggplant parmesan. Well, I had one last night and I have another one waiting for me at home for today's lunch/dinner :), how pathetic is that! It was pretty cool, as soon as I walked in the host said 'we have another one…', I told her I was just picking up my order and she directed me to the bar, the walls were all full of baby pictures (apparently babies that have been born after their mommies eat their eggplant parm), I thought it was hilarious because I didn't see the inside of the restaurant but while I was getting my order I saw three other pregos taking pictures there.
Today is my last day at work until March 1st, I can't believe I will be six months off work, right now sounds very, very good, because I think that I have not been motivated for the last three months :). It is also a short day (we only work until 12:00pm due to the long weekend), and to top it off I got in at 10:00 because I had a dr's appointment. So my last day is only a 2 hour day, how cool is that!
From work I am going to get my car cleaned and heading to the airport to pick up my parents, I can't believe they are going to be here in less than four hours. My mom has been here before (6 o7 times) but like I mentioned before this is the first time for my dad (after 10 years living here!). We are very excited and I am glad they will get to meet the baby and be here when he is born.
I had a dr's appointment this morning, baby B decided to drop (you would think is about time when my due date/induction date is in four days), doc stripped my membranes again with some hope that things will get moving this weekend… let's see. Seems like I have been the exception to all rules of pregnancy so far, not that I am complaining about it, because most of the time is been for good, but can I at least be with everybody else and have the stripping work???
I don’t know what is going on with me, but I feel completely refresh and I am looking forward the upcoming days… I don’t want to think about the fact that on Tuesday I will not be pregers anymore, I had such a great pregnancy, I am four days to my due date and have no swelling, DH is still shocked at how this pregnancy has not been what we expected at all… I mean you always expect some pains or something, but I have been very lucky and I have enjoyed every second of it, I am pretty sure I will miss feeling the baby inside of me and all that good stuff but at the same time I can't wait to meet him, and I can't wait to have a name for him!
Well ladies, that is it! This is our month we are in for a very busy month, good luck to everyone and keep the babies coming!!
I think I may have dropped some last night - but I wonder, is it supposed to be really, really obvious? Am I just imagining it?
I am in such a better place, emotionally, and physically and all that, as far as being ready for baby. A week ago, I was saying "Not any time soon!" and this week, I'm thinking "OK! Bring it on!"
I'm still scheduled to work today through Monday, then I'm off for a whopping 8 weeks. :(

twink - I believe you can actually see PUPPS.
Oh yes, you can most definitely see PUPPS. I broke out in hives EVERYWHERE. I basically looked like I had Chickenpox and I've got the scars to show for it! :(
But for what it's worth, try the Gold Bond stuff, but be careful because I know the dermatologist didn't want me using it too often because it contains menthol and she said it wasn't safe to use a bunch of menthol while pregnant. If it does wind up to be PUPPS, let me know, I still have a few bars of that Pine Tar Soap, and that stuff is a miracle!

About the PUPPS--- I've got some red dots that have come up with some itching this past week. I've been keeping an eye on it and the itching is getting better BUT it's still uncomfortable. I was wondering if this is what it was and maybe I had a mild case.

booksie,LMC Good to know. So far there are no hives until I start to itch, and then it just has little raised bumps and gets red.

Good morning ladies. At midnight Monday morning I went into labor. I awas having contractions every 7-12 minutes because i live so far from the hospital I called the dr she said come in and lets get us checked out. THey found out I was dehydrated but after getting me hydrated I was still having contractions every 1-5 minutes by then. They checked me and I was at a 1 so they admitted me. Alyssa Grace was born at 901 am on August 28th. She was 7 lbs 11.3 oz much bigger then we thought, 19 1/4 inches long. She is healthy and we got to come home yesterday. Post more later. We had a csection so it is hurting to sit up.

Welcome to our (official) birth month, September Mommies!!!
Can you believe it's finally here?
I had my 37 week appointment today. I'm up another 2 lbs, for a total weight gain of 14 lbs. Fasolaki is gaining rapidly!
Hottie OB was extremely busy: there were 3 women in labor & delivery and 1 on the way!
While he could feel Fasolaki's head in my pelvis by doing an external exam, which means that Fasolaki has indeed started to drop, the internal revealed that my cervix is still tight as a drum. So as of now, there's no indication that Fasolaki's on his way any time soon. I have my next appointment Thursday, September 7. That's not to say that things could change at any time! But hopefully, he will wait 'til his Yia Yia & Papou (that's Greek for grandparents) get back from Europe on the 9th!
The previa and low placenta are completely gone now. Everything's good. I'm GBS negative.
That's about it!
Looking forward to a nice long weekend, filled with laundry and a couple of family get-togethers.

MSH - I can't believe you made that! The blanket is beautiful! Well, I can believe you made it because it's the softest blanket I've ever seen. This is so perfect, I can't even tell you. We got three handmade blankets for my oldest son, they are his favorites and are in constant rotation (definitely won't be shared with new baby) and I was feeling so sad because, of the three people who made them, one is out of our life now, one has died, and the third has had a fight with my mom and likely won't do anything for this child. I was feeling bad because I wanted new baby to have something that someone made special just for him, and since I don't have the skills I really thought there was no way that would happen. Thank you again, so much.
--------------
I think I dropped last night. Well, it looks like I dropped, but I'm still getting heartburn like nobody's business so that's not so useful to me.
Dropping will help heartburn, too! Oh goody! I thought it was just going to make breathing easier!

Thanks so much for the congrats! I was almost a September mommy. But, I'm holding Kai Alexander in my arms right now. (Thanks, Craft for posting!) DH and I are completely in love with him. :D He was born August 30th at 7:22pm. 8 pounds and 9 ounces. I'm too sleepy to post much more, but I'll be putting some pics up this weekend.
Congrats to all the other new mommies!!!

Just dropping by a quick note… I went to sleep last night feeling very ‘crampy’ I thought it was just as a result of the dr stripping the membranes, I woke up through out the night with awful cramps until around 3:30am when I all the sudden realized that the cramps were on and off. I couldn’t sleep anymore so I figure I go down stairs and clean. I did the floors, empty the dishwasher and cleaned up…. I have been having contractions for the last two hours, and the later ones have been around 5 min. apart. We are going to wait a little bit before I call the dr and we will take it from there.
I will post once I know more (meaning if this is not labor, even though I highly doubt it!) or once the baby is born.
Wish me luck!

I posted a little while ago on LJ but I've been up all night off and on but finally got up fully at 5am. I'm having contractions that are 7 minutes apart and lasting anywhere from 35-45 seconds. They hurt but not enough that I can't talk through them. I'm just chillin counting the minutes. I'm sleepy and everytime I try to dose off on the couch, another one comes.
I'm really hoping this is it. I waited until 7:30am to call my parents (got up at 5am) because they were going to drive to the beach for lunch (yes, they are crazy like that-- 3 hours for lunch) if nothing was happening but I told them they may want to cancel that trip. They are going to eat breakfast and then head this way to keep me company. Steffie's at work but should be home any minute.
Contraction....

How exciting!
DH keeps kissing my belly and saying "Come on out baby, we're all ready for you!" or "Come on out baby, I want to play!"
Got the car seat inspected today and ordered a glider and ottoman from Target. A few little things still do in baby's room, and I want to go pick up the Arm's Reach Mini Cosleeper for our room because the pack-n-play just isn't feeling right to me, it's too low (or rather, our bed is far too high! I practically need a step stool to get in!)
My last night of work is Monday, and Tuesday we have an OB apt. and a pediatrician interview (I know, I know, nothing like cutting it close!).

I have some pictures to post but our internet is being slow tonight I guess because of the weather. They are calling for a cold front. Highs in the 80s woohoo. Is it sad I am happy over this. I already miss being pregnant and DH and I are talking about another one. I guess since Alyssa is such a good baby so far it is easy to talk about so far. I say this until I go back to work. Take care all and good luck to those who are having labor pains

I wanted to pop in before my next "nap" and let everyone know that Sophie and I are home from the hospital. We got home yesterday afternoon. All you who are BFing know what I'm talking about by "nap." LOL! Thank you all for the warm good lucks and best wishes and welcomes to Sophie. She was born on 8/30 at 5:29 pm. She weighed 6 lbs 12 oz and was 20.5 in long. I know that is posted, but just wanted to repeat it because it's fun! :)
I have some pictures to post, but thought I'd quickly say that I was induced at 12 pm because I wasn't feeling movement from her. Her heartbeat was fine but dr. didn't want to risk anything. Since I was already dilated nearly 4 cms, fully effaced, full term, and having contractions (per the fetal monitor), dr. decided to induce. Labor was quick and I can't complain. I had Sophie after about 20 mins of pushing. 30 mins if you count the 10 mins I was ordered by the nurses to stop pushing because they were worried I'd have Sophie before the dr. got there. Anyway, pitocin made my contractions crazy intense immediately. WOW! I really did think I might pass out when the monitor showed my contractions at the highest level on the chart and there was no relief in between contractions. All you ladies who give birth au naturale are brave and good for you!! After 2 hrs, I got my epidural and life was great ... but nothing compared to the moment I saw Sophie. Anyway, here are some pictures ... welcome Sophie! :)

Congratulations to all the new mommas!!
We had our last session of Bradley classes tonight. A private lactation consultant came in and gave some pointers for being successful bfing moms. There were also two moms (one who gave birth just 8 days ago!) who shared their birth stories. It was a nice ending to three months of classes.
The full body itching hasn't gone away so I will ask the midwife about it on Tuesday.
Hope everyone has a great labor day!
I can't keep up with all the congrats and beautiful baby comments I should be making! :D
Two days ago, I was saying I could be PG forever. Today? I am ready to be done. Headache isn't helping. I think it's just my usual change-of-seasons/allergies/pollen headache...

Thank you all for the well wishes and congrats to those of you who have had your babies too! Since my mom has DD and the ILs have DS and the new little one is sleeping I whipped up a quick birth story since tomorrow we will be crazy again!
Thursday night/Friday morning - woke up at around 3am with contractions. They definitely felt different than the braxton hicks I had been having for weeks. I could feel an "ouch" type of pressure that wasn't there before. They were every 7 minutes for about 4 hours and then when I got up they went away, but I just had a feeling. I told DH not to go too far today! I went in for my non-stress test and only had one contraction in 45 minutes. We took DD and dropped her off at her Dad's and then went to mexican food. Got home and I took a shower (just in case) and then DH and I sat down to watch a movie. Immediately the contractions started every 5-7 minutes and didn't let up. But again, they didn't hurt, they were just "there". Finally DH said "let's call my sister". We did and she came over to stay the night with DS and we headed to the hospital. Got to the hospital at about 11pm and they monitored me for about an hour and at midnight checked me. I was praying that they would keep me because the contractions didn't hurt but I was hoping they were doing something! The doctor says "wow, you're not even breaking a sweat and you're 6cm!" WOW!! We were shocked so I was admitted.
Got admitted to the room and called my friend who was working that night and her and another friend came to visit. They couldn't believe how I was in no pain and just joking around and hanging out. No one could, not even me! The L&D nurse asked if I wanted an epidural and I said no because I wasn't in any pain. At about 2:00am the doctor checked me again and I was 8+cm so she broke my water. Again, no real pain. A couple contractions hurt but nothing major. So then at about 2:45 I said something to the nurse about worrying that I wouldn't progress because it didn't hurt. At this point, I wasn't on any pitocin, nothing - just some fluids because I was a little dehydrated. She said "maybe try laying on your side and getting in a different position, sometimes that helps move the baby down". I decided to lay on my side and that's when all hell broke loose!
As soon as I laid on my side I had a huge contraction and the worst pain of my life and the urge to push. I sorta panicked and told Brad to get the nurse in there now and I was gripping the bedrails. I was just shocked because one minute ago I was laughing watching some stupid TV show and saying that this was cake. Nurse comes in and checks me and I'm 10cm and the head is right there so they wheel me to the delivery room. I am seriously panicking because now I am begging for medication and they are telling me that it's too late. Get into the delivery room and they have me practice pushing and it really hurt but then the nurse tells them to hurry and get the doctor in there because the baby was right there.
Doctor comes in and I am just seriously dying. My poor husband would rub my head or leg and I was like "don't touch me". Then I wanted to hold the bed handrails to push and the nurse wanted me to hold my legs and that frustrated me. I didn't open my eyes for about 10 minutes. In between contractions I would wipe the tears off my face and curse about my mascara running and how pictures were going to be awful, ha ha (priorities). I seriously thought I was losing it and not going to be able to do it.
Obviously I did and I pushed her out in about 10 minutes. It was definitely surreal to feel every single part of her as it was coming out. SUCH a relief when her whole body came out, I actually said "oh thank GOD" ...ha ha. Everyone said I was so controlled and did so great but I didn't feel like that. I think because I was in pain and knew that I couldn't do anything about it I felt sort of out of control. But no tears, no problems, everything is great so now I'm happy about it!
We are doing great, she is the best breastfeeder every! My milk started coming in at about 12 hours so she has been a happy camper. She is just gorgeous, we are so in love. Last night was a little rough because she would not sleep unless she was right next to us...hopefully that will change in the next few days because I do not sleep well with her right there!

I'm sure it's all posted here somewhere but Mia Lynn was born on September 2, 2006, at 9:28pm. She's 8 pounds, 2 ounces and 20 3/4 inches long. I will post ALL the details when I get a chance but I'm sure Dorothy posted some.
Labor was pretty easy. Labored actively for 9 hours, pushed for 28 minutes. I have a really small tear and a hemmeroid (TMI) but not really hurting much. Pushing was done in the most relaxing environment and I can't wait to share all the details.
She's been WONDERFUL! Last night, we had a really rough night when she ate for 30 minutes on each side and was still hungry. I called a nurse to get a pump because I was so sore on my left side. I pumped a tad (enough to give some through a suringe to her). They told me that was really rare to be able to do that when she's less than 2 days old.
I'm still having a really hard time because of the soreness. She's a champion eater (meaning, she's got a suck to match the Jaws of Life!!). She'll hurt when she sucks on my fingers. MIL, SMIL and Steffie went to Target a bit ago and bought me a pump. They got me a Pump in Style and I'll be able to use the extra bottles and such from the hospital. Hosptial also gave me a manual that I managed to pump some from a bit ago (which I was highly proud of myself for).
My mom got back up here today and will stay through most of the week. MIL, FIL, and SMIL are all leaving tonight and cooked roast and veggies for tonight, cleaned the house (althoug cleaning lady just came), washed and folded ALL clothes, went grocery shopping and made some food (brownies, pasta, etc) for us to have on hand. YAY!!
My first time holding her.. 30 minutes after delivery. Surprisingly, I felt great!

dana there is only one photo now- a sneak peek... we just had them done on friday so she is still working on them- but I will update.
delicious Sylvia was great! Thanks again- Eliza was crabby too- it was one of those bottom-less pit bfing days. And we all got majorly pooped on hee-hee! Can't wait to see your photos!
I am so sad to not be able to keep up on here! DS is with Dh again today at work so I feel like it is a vacation. Even though I am doing bills- cleaning etc... but I can focus more on me and Eliza than when the boys are home.
I am having some major emotional moments but not nearly like when DS was born. I feel guilt for not having all the time I had for DS now. I have moments when all I want to do is cuddle that little guy.
And when we left my mom's last night I was sobbing in the car because i felt so homesick. But I think I have her talked into sleeping over on saturday.
My Aunt Pam slept over this past saturday- well until 4am when DH got home. It was so nice!
Eliza is falling into a pattern- although it is bound to change as soon as I blink. But she has been feeding at 9-10pm, midnight- 3am and 6am... It takes about an hour and I get 1 1/2 hr- 2hrs of sleep in between.
So doable for me right now I am very grateful!
I hope all the new moms are hanging in there! IF you are bfing- that is so tough! I am sending you lots of good bfing vibes....
I have arranged to buy my pump from the hospital on friday- Medela Pump in Style original for $191... Good price! Yeah!

Spencer's WOW how exciting! Good luck to you- can't wait to hear.
Allie's With DS I used formula without iron added. I am not sure what your ped will think about that- but he was never constipated. Our Ped never mentioned with or without iron as being preferable- but she did say not to be fooled by the BIG brand formulas since they all have to meet pretty high standards to be on the shelf. We bought Parent's choice soy with DHA and ARA most of the time from Walmart and DS liked it and it was priced right. If you have Jewel or Albertson's near you- same deal and it goes on sale a lot. Plus Walgreen's brand does too ( incidentally those + others are all the same pharm company with dif labels)
I know this sounds dumb but not only so I sort of miss being pg- I miss the excitement of the pending birth and the whole hospital stay ( the good parts of it) I am mourning the idea that I may never be pg again. DH wants a vasectomy.
alliesmomma03
09-05-2006, 05:37 PM
Thanks 2jacks. With DD1 she couldn't use EnfamilLipil with Iron and it seems DD2 is the same. With DD1 we finally used Parents Choice with Iron and it worked good. So we changed DD2 today to see if that helps. I miss the same things. I loved being in the hospital but I am the type that loves to stay somewhere other then home and miss when I have to come home

First off, good luck spencer's girl! Crossing my fingers for a speedy delivery!
Welcome babies Alyssa, Marc, Allison and Mia!!!
Babywish Looks like that eggplant parmesan worked for you! I'm thinking I might have to make DH take me out for italian!
2Jacks Glad Eliza is settling into a routine. Hope your not too sleep deprived!
Alliesmomma a coworker friend of mine was just telling me about one particular formula brand that caused constipation in her son. She switched and it went away immediately.
Not too much going on here. Feeling pretty good considering there is a huge basketball under my shirt. A huge kicking basketball! I am starting to wonder if everything little twinge is the beginning of labor. Boy, its exciting yet scary. Beginning to wonder if there is any truth to the full moon phenomenon... There is one on the 7th... guess we'll have to see how many babies are born that day, I guess!
So, is anyone else planning on working up to their due dates? Every morning I go in, people seem surprised to see me!
Take care everyone!

I think the whole first month of a baby's life is figuring out how to poop. Even with breastmilk it seemed like pooping was such a hard thing on such a little person.
Some friends of ours had a constipated newborn and their ped. had them use the rectal thermometer on the baby, just to see if it could move things along. That was all it took and the baby was poopin' like a champ I guess.

I'm done with work!!! I finally as able to leave the office behind today, just hoping my doctor fills out all of my paperwork and I can get started with my short term disability soon. My commute is 45 minutes each way, so my feet have been swelling really badly, plus, there's so much pressure frm the baby pushing down that I can barely walk around the office. Not fun.
Had my 38 week apointment today. My doctor estimates she might be about 9 lbs at delivery, no dialating yet... just waiting! He did mention c-sections and inductions might come up at my next appointment... if I make it!

Still here and still pregnant. I thought I might be in labor over the weekend - I was in some pretty intense pain, but I think it must've just been the worst gas pain of my life and not labor.
In response to someone's question, I'm going to be working right up until my induction date. At least I think I am. That was the plan. But now my feet have gotten so swollen and my pelvis is so out of whack that it's making my commute (bus to metro plus three block walk) a living hell every day. Oh well, at least people finally have started offering me a seat on the metro (last week was the first time.)
Anyway, since I know I'm going to be induced Thurs 9/14, I might take off the Tuesday and Wednesday before - I just feel like there's so much that needs doing and I'm having a hard time getting it done while running around with my two year old. I want to spend as much time with him as I can, and be as active and fun and engaged a parent as I can, because I know his time as a singleton is about over. At the same time, I'm so tired and sore that I'm having a hard time doing much of anything with him.
So now I'm thinking don't worry about baby stuff, hang with DS and then take a few days, bring DS to daycare, and cram baby stuff in then. I don't konw. I wanted to discuss all this with DH tonight, but he went to bed early - which is what I should do too I think.
Congrats to all the new families out there! I've been so out of the loop since I can't check CC from work anymore, but I'm so excited for all of you and so glad to hear how well things are going for just about everyone. YAY for happy and healthy mama's and babies!

batgirl I am planning on working up until labor starts. I'm really hoping that my water doesn't break while at work - that would be too embarassing.
Speaking of embarassing, tonight I trekked to Walgreens and picked all sorts of embarrassing things. I figured I might as well buy it all at the same time so it was only one horrible trip. I bought gigantic maxi pads that are going to be so uncomfortable to wear - yuck, those disposable pee pads to put under my side of the bed (in case my water breaks at night) and some in each car in case we are on the move when labor strikes, hemerroid pads with witch hazel for after we get home, and chapstick. The chapstick was just because I wanted a good flavor to have at the hospital rather than the boring stuff I normally have - it wasn't embarrassing to buy. The checkout person actually commented that she didn't know they sold the pee pads in the store and marveled at the size of them (they are about half the size of a crib!). Horrible, I tell you.
We went on the hospital tour tonight - it was very informative. The labor and delivery rooms are nice and big, but the postpartum rooms are teeny tiny. I will be happy to get out of there after 24 hours, I think! The nurses seemed nice and we will only get one nurse for every 12 hour shift, so not too many names to remember. It got me to start packing the hospital bag - hopefully I will finish it up tomorrow and get the car seat set up so I can get it checked some day at lunch. So much to do.
I also had a midwife appointment today. All looks good, but when I told her about the intense all over body itching, she became slightly concerned. Apparently there is some rare disease that effects pregnant women's livers and causes intense itching with no rash. She wanted me to go in for a blood test that screens for this problem right away, but it turned out that I have to fast for 8 hours before. So she seemed pretty adamant that I go in right away tomorrow morning. She said it is really rare and usually shows up between 33-34 weeks, not 37 weeks. If I do have this problem, it would mean an automatic induction as soon as the results came back positive. So I told her not to give me the name of the problem because I don't want to do a ton of internet research only to freak myself out and then not have the issue at all. The first part of the results will be ready on Friday and will give a good indication if this will likely be a problem for me. The final results will be ready next week Wednesday. So that news is not the greatest, and I am hoping now more than ever that it is just my skin that is stretching and that is why I itch. :P

Morning ladies,
Congratulations Ericka! Hope you and your little one are doing great! Glad to have you as an official member of the Sept mommies (we're better over here ;) )
MSH Looking good, girl!
Twink Yeah, I worry about my water breaking at work, too... Your trip to Walgreens was funny. I did the same thing at Target last weekend. I thought it would be less embarrassing to mix my nursing tank, breast pads, breast cream, huge maxi pads, etc with cat litter and batteries. Didn't work too well, since the aisle I picked had a teenage boy cashier. I think I felt more embarrassed for him! Course, no one commented on the size of my "pee pads"!
I told DH about eggplant parmesan, and now he wants to have it for dinner tonight! Its funny to see him so excited. Maybe we'll have to get some fresh pineapple, too. What the heck, right?
Take care everyone!
ETA: There are a few pictures of Ericka's gorgeous little boy, Easton Robert, on the October mommas thread. Sounds like mom and baby are doing great!

Oh Conor is so cute!! That second shot is so peaceful and the first one has the cutest expression. Like oh man, what are you guys doing NOW?? :)
twink, good luck with the testing - we'll be thinking about you and hoping your skin is just unhappy on it's own accord!
I had the most intense pains yesterday in the cervix area (I think). I could barely walk and was almost in tears. With every step it felt like I was ripping and bleeding. If I didn't know better I would have sworn the baby had a steak knife and was chopping it's way out. After about 20 minutes of this I called the clinic to see if I could get an appointment to see a midwife right away but they thought maybe I should go to the birth center and they'd call me back. A midwife called about a half hour later and told me to lie down and not worry about it. She said with second babies this is a completely normal feeling. She said first timers have better muscles to hold the baby all snug but after that the baby just kind of goes where it wants, in this case cramming on my cervix. So I'm going in for my regular appt. today. I did feel much better after resting on the sofa for a while.

All of the babies are soo cute. It's amazing that it's our time already. In some ways it seems like it took forever, in otherways it seems like in the blink of an eye we were having them.
twink ~ good luck with the testing.
booksie ~ Thanks so much. Conor looks so much like his older brother.
That knife pain you described was what I had. It totally felt like the baby had a steak knife and was cutting away at my cervix. I was told pretty much the same thing you were, but it still hurt.
I'm feeling really wiped out. Conor is 8 days old today and I cannot believe that I'm still feeling sore. I had a 2nd degree tear so that's still bothering me, my back hurts where they put the epidural in, and I'm constantly getting headaches. Oh and I am sooo weepy. I had none of this when I had Aidan. They say it gets worse with each delivery.
I'm totally with everyone who says they miss being pg. As much as I suffered in the end I miss my belly. I miss the whole excitement of the impending birth, the hospital stay, etc. I was totally dead set against having another one before I had Conor... now I think I might want one more (sshhh, don't tell my dh).

Adam's Pi
09-06-2006, 10:57 AM
cosmic Try oatmeal, more water, or even nursing longer. Sometimes you'll be able to get a second (or even third!) letdown. Nursing is supply and demand. The more your baby asks for (by keeping him on the breast) the more your body will make. Oatmeal cookies are a good option, and so is good old fashioned oatmeal in a bowl. Also, your body needs enough calories and enough water to produce breastmilk. Drinking a bit more water and having the one or two oatmeal cookies certainly can't hurt the cause.
Dotsie
09-06-2006, 11:31 AM
My lactation consultant also suggested fenugreek or mother's milk tea. So far I'm getting about 3 oz total every 3 hours. I am drinking tons and tons and I still only get 3 oz. I'm going to start with the oatmeal and maybe fenugreek. I have no clue what amount of breast milk would be considered normal at this stage of the game.

OK - giving it the triple whammy. Since I'm full term and the baby seems huge, I had eggplant parmesan last night. We ended up at an italian restaurant last night that we had a gift card for and I saw it on the menu so I thought, "why not??" It was surprisingly good!!! I had no idea I liked eggplant. And I have tons left over for today.
Also, I recently found raspberry leaf tea at a local high-end grocery store so I had a cup of that when we got home and another right now.
And today apparently is the full moon. My favorite midwife is on call tonight and she said she is expecting to see a lot of women in the hospital. She said they say it's just a myth but it's always shocking to her to see how many women actually do deliver when there is a full moon.
I don't feel at ALL like the baby is going to make an appearance (I'm only 1.5 cm dilated & 50% effaced), but the tea ain't bad and the italian food is great and there's nothing I can do about the moon so I'm just going with it. :)

Delurking to say craftgenius, those pics are gorgeous!! I LOVE the feet one!
Oh, how I love baby feet pictures! Great shots! Love the daddy and baby feet pic, too!
I have a fight on my hands. Doc scheduled an induction for next Weds. at Tuesday's appointment. For NO REASON other than I will be three whopping days past my EDD. When did an ESTIMATED due date become a deadline? I was so shocked he was suggesting it and so utterly shocked my DH was going along with it that I sat in there in silence, on the verge of tears. This PG has been very smooth, no medical issues, no high blood pressure, no excessive weight gain, no low fluid, nothing to suggest I need to be induced. I have another appointment Monday, with an US to check fluid levels, and I believe I will refuse to be induced then. I just can't believe that my healthy, normally-progressing pregnancy somehow STOPS being normal and healthy just because we've hit the EDD. It's an ESTIMATE, not a deadline. Isn't the gestational period for MOST healthy, normally progressing first time moms 40 weeks PLUS 8 days? So 41 weeks, 1 day? I am in no hurry to have this kid. I am not incredibly uncomfortable. I am having no issues to suggest an induction is necessary. The placenta is NOT going to shrivel up and die just beacuse we are a couple days past an arbitrarily chosen date on a calender.
What really is eating me up is DH ate it up and is gung ho about induction, DESPITE knowing my concerns and my desire for an intervention-free labor.
Aletheia
09-07-2006, 02:47 PM
b- Hold fast to your course, chica. Your doc can't make you show up for an appt, if it comes to that. As for your DH, that sounds pretty tricky. He probably isn't as well-informed as you are as to the silliness of induction when there are no medical indications. He probably just wants what sounds best for you and baby, and if it came out of the doctor's mouth, it probably sounds to him to be the best plan. You are the expert right now on how your body is feeling and I bet you know a whole lot more about labor than he does! I knew more about labor than my DH in a lot of ways, and he's a doctor! :)
Hang in there, kiddo. And it may be that your little beano is listening to all this conversation and will get the hint!

Well ladies, looks like I am a September Mommy, Easton Robert decided he wanted to come into the world on Sept 5th at 7:27 pm. He arrived weighing 5 lbs 6oz and 19" long. His APGARs were 8 & 9 and he is just perfect. He is in the SCU (special care unit) for a few days, he is breathing great and everything is good, he just needs to drink from a bottle better (hope not so great he doesn't nurse though) and gain weight.
Here is my little miracle:

Craft, those pictures are amazing!!! Claire has the cuuuuuuuuuutest little facial expressions!!!
{b} - what the heck is wrong with your doctor?? Doesn't he know the way you feel about induction at all? Maybe you just need to call him and tell him how you feel. It's possible that he has a lot of other patients who have asked to be induced or are thrilled to have a date, etc. and he is just assuming that you feel the same way. Just let him know where you stand as soon as you can.

{B} i agree w/ everything aletheia said. i really think most dr's think that we all want inductions, even mine mentioned it the other day when i wasn't even 37 weeks. he's already started with the typical ob 'estimating this baby to be huge, we may have to induce' thing  it doesn't concern me though b/c i feel like this kid is going to fall out any second.
craft you look so pretty in your pictures! i doubt i'll be able to pull myself together enough to be in any of ours. does your dd always have that smile on her face?! she's precious.

I had my 38 week appointment yesterday. I'm up another 2 lbs for a total gain of 16 lbs. Dr K once again praised me for my great job at not gaining too much weight. She said I will be pleasantly surprised at what the scale says after I give birth & breastfeed.
I'm still all closed up!
Which isn't to say Fasolaki couldn't come at any time, because he still can! She said she had a patient come in last week, all closed, and then her water broke a few days later. She came into the hospital, still was all closed, they had to give her some medication to soften & open the cervix and she delivered the next morning.
We won't start talking about induction 'til week 41, so I've got another 2.5/3 to go 'til then. ;)
I think Fasolaki's just waiting for his Yia Yia & Papou to return on Saturday. Though I wouldn't want to go into labor tomorrow, since Dionysios will be at a wedding in Western MA (2+ hours away).
Next appointment is Thursday, September 14th.
Work is insane. I was there 'til 9 last night.

dionysia - Your doctor was telling you the truth about the weight loss...I gained 15 pound during my pregnancy...which I was very happy about. I am pumping breast milk exclusively...and at my two week post partum checkup, I had lost 24 pounds!!! :-) I was pleasantly surprised!!
Ladies thanks for the compliments on the pictures. I am super happy with them. I only posted a few of them...I have 70 proofs to choose from! I may just end up getting at least a 4X6 print of ALL of them!
Like lots of you said, I love the feet picture also. Here's another foot picture that shows my bracelet with her name on it...

QOTD: Who's still here, still PG? What is your due date? How are you feeling?
I'm still here, still PG. Due tomorrow (Sunday, the 10th). I am feeling fine. I have an appointment Monday at which I will get a second opinion regarding induction (Scheduled for Wednesday at only 40 weeks, 3 days [rolleyes]). I hope not to need it! Today would be a good day, baby! 9/9/06 is easy to rem, ember, it's a nice day for a birthday! Let's GO!

QOTD: Who's still here, still PG? What is your due date? How are you feeling?
I'm still pg and officially due on the 26th, but am expecting to have to wait until the first week in October for baby's arrival. I feel tired and big. It's fun to have random people ask whenm I am due and then see their eyes get huge when I tell them. The woman at the grocery store this morning acted like I shouldn't even be out by myself at this stage.
Just to update on my test results so far on the potential liver issues, the first set came back that my liver is fine. There is still potential that the second set (a different more specific test for this issue) may come back poorly, but it is much less likely since the first test looked good. So I have decided not to worry about it and am continuing on expecting a naturally occurring onset of labor.
{b} Don't let your doctor or your husband talk you into anything you aren't comfortable with. The average gestational period is 41 weeks and 1 day but for some reason they arbitrarily set due dates at 40 weeks. My midwife doesn't consider me overdue until I am 8 days past the calculated due date and then we can go for two more weeks after that. The baby will come when it is ready.
craft Beautiful pictures. I agree with everyone that the feet ones are adorable!

QOTD: Who's still here, still PG? What is your due date? How are you feeling?
I'm still here....I am due on 9/26 . At my OB appointment yesterday I found out I was 3cm dialated so he stripped my membranes. I thought it would hurt a lot more than it did...it just felt very weird! Lots of crampiness afterwards too, and I am in the process of losing my plug.
I am feeling ok overall. I have been having some whopper contractions but they are very irregular so far. Just feeling very anxious to have my little girl!!

I'm still here, but I am not due until 9/24 so I expect to be here for awhile. My first DD came on her due date, so we'll see.
I'm feeling big and having a hard time chasing after a toddler, but all in all I'm good.
I just got my birth pool on Thursday and I am very excited about it. I am hoping to have a water birth this time around.

2Jacks: Those are phenomenal. I told you she'd do a great job. :) I'm so excited to have her do ours. Another photographer friend of ours is doing some newborn shots for us, too. I think ours might be the most professionally photographed newborn ever!
QOTD: Who's still here, still PG? What is your due date? How are you feeling?
I'm here, still pregnant. I'm due on 9/19 and have a c/section scheduled for 9/20. I was risked out of a VBAC due to fetal head size (at last week's ultrasound, the body was measuring 36w while the head was measuring 42w6d). I'm not a fan of early c/sections, so we opted to wait until our baby is full term at 40 weeks.
I was in a pretty sleep deprived state for awhile there but it seems that all it took was a threat from my OB to admit me for exhaustion and I started sleeping again. Two nights in a row with 9 hours of sleep. Heaven.
Now we're just enjoying these last 10 days of being pregnant, of just our little family of three. We're soaking in the excitement and trying not to focus on the discomfort, etc. It's a good place to be. :)

Yeah enjoy being pg- although this baby is great compared to DS, I am still tired. She sleeps on me in the recliner best. I just really want to lay down flat! Last night I did get a couple hours in straight- good girl! It seems though, that morning is the best time for her to sleep longest- but everyone else is up then!
I have been pumping and it is so sad to see the little that atually comes out! I have 4 whole ounces in the freezer from 3 attempts.

2jacks Your pictures are beautiful!! It's making me think about getting a professional to take pictures of our little one.
portland bride Have you tested out the birth pool yet? My doula said that she got hers about two weeks before her second baby arrived and she used it as a giant hot tub to get used to it before the big event!
Milk supply We had a class with a lactation consultant and she said that once your milk fully comes in and your schedule is established, you should expect to get 3 ounces of milk from pumping both breasts. I was surprised at how little that seems, but she said that people just assume that since they can make 8 ounces of formula for a feeding, that it how much you should get from the breast, but it is not the case. Since everyone is still probably getting established at breastfeeding, the amount will be substantially less. She was a proponent of taking your baby in for weigh-in's often if you are concerned that the baby isn't getting enough because she said mom's tend not to notice the weight gain but usually the baby is doing just fine. Hope that helps!

QOTD: Who's still here, still PG? What is your due date? How are you feeling?
I'm still here! My due date is 9/28 but I'm being induced on 9/14. At my last u/s I was measuring 4.5 weeks ahead and now my ob thinks it's closer to 5+ weeks ahead. Since I had a 9+ pounder at 38 weeks last time and had some serious problems getting him out, we don't want to wait past 38 weeks this time with a baby that looks even bigger.
I'm wondering if I'll even make it to Thursday though. At my appointment Friday I was 3+cm dilated and I lost my mucous plug today. Last time I never dilated and never lost my plug so I'm hoping that, at the very least, my body will be better prepared for labor.
Although my house isn't ready, my body so is. I just can't take the swelling in my feet at the end of the workday anymore - I can't even fit my feet into flip flops anymore, they are cutting off the circulation on the top of my feet. I've resorted to wearing my teva's (which look really nice in my very professional office btw) open almost as far as I can open the velcro. Classy...
Plus I'm just having a lot of pelvic pain and general discomfort and slowness. More than anything I'm sad because I really want to be enjoying these last few days with my son as an "only" but I'm hurting so much every time I move that I spend most of the day wanting to cry or throw-up. Oh well. Nothing to do but wait it out at this point.
We went to Outback for dinner tonight - for some reason last time I was pregnant the steak at Outback seemed to trigger labor for a TON of women, like maybe a quarter or third of the thread. I figured it can't hurt and besides, I really like Outback, so might as well get some and enjoy it!

QOTD: Who's still here, still PG? What is your due date? How are you feeling?
Still here, EDD is 9/15/06, but I have a feeling my doctor is going to want to talk induction at my appointment tomorrow, since I've been measuring so big all along. I do NOT want to schedule a c-section, which I think is another option. I'd at least like to see how labor progresses... and at least get to experience it! But, whatever is best for my little girl.
I've had contractions on and off for the past few days, definitely more serious than the BH I had sporadically last week. These seem to come about hourly, so I've been trying to change my activity, drink lots of water, and pee as often as I can. Sometimes it helps. Other than that, I feel big, awkward, sleepy and warm all of the time.
I'm ready. The house is clean, baby stuff is all ready, and there are at least 8 meals frozen in the freezer.
octoberkate You just convinced me that I making DH take me to Outback for dinner tonight!
2Jacks & craft Gorgeous photos, both of you!! I'm just trying to convince DH that our child's first pictures should NOT be taken with his cell phone camera...

Ladies, I am so sorry for being such a slacker but it is crazy around here with my family and everything else. Marc is doing great and I can't believe how much he's changed in only one week. My breast milk must be doing its job because on Friday when we went to the pediatrician he was already at his birth weight.
Other than that everything is going great, we are in love with the little one and I am in aww with everything around him.

Just wanted to stop in to see if we have any new mommies.
So how are all the new mommies doing BTW? Are you getting enough sleep? How is your baby's sleep/eating schedule going? My baby was eating every 3 hours and pretty much dropping back off to sleep after eating. But lately she has been staying awake a bit in between feedings. Today she has been very clingy. When I lay her down and she'll lay there for a while then start crying. When I pick her up she is perfectly content and will fall asleep in my arms. Looks like DH and I are in for a long night! Today she sat in her bouncer for a pretty good while and seemed pretty content. I'll have to try that tomorrow. My mom has been with me since I had the baby, except on weekends she goes home. She's home now and won't be back until Tuesday, so tomorrow I am on my own while DH is at work!! Yikes! I hope things go smoothly! My mom told me something wonderful today...she suddenly mentioned that she doesn't want to see my baby go to daycare so soon (I am planning to go back to work when the baby turns 10 weeks)...and that she would be willing to stay with us during the week to keep the baby for several months. She lives 1.5 hour away from us, so basically she would be leaving her house to live with us during the week (she will go home on weekends). I am pretty darn happy to hear this, because I was getting pretty sad about the idea of sending my itty bitty baby to daycare after 10 weeks. So my fingers are crossed hoping that she really agrees to do this favor for DH and I. If she would keep Claire until the New Year I would be thrilled!
Still here, still PG. Getting really anxious. And slept horribly last night, worried about today's appointment and amillion little things that weren't really even worth worrying about. I hate not being able to shut off my brain! And peeing every 45 minutes doesn't help!
Hoping to see a different doc and get a different opinion today. Though I am so tired of waiting and anxious for baby and feel like I am on the verge of labor, so maybe the induction isn't such a horrible idea, if I work very hard to fight all the interventions that may lead to a c-section. Not sure how feasible that is with this practice, though, they seem very intervention and c-section oriented, as though something is "wrong" with every single PG woman and they need to perform all these uber-sexpensive tests and monitoring and give drugs and surgery to save us all from this horrible thing inside us... [rolleyes]
Can't see your pics, babywish!

Congrats Koala & Erika!! Our little ones all share a birthday!!
Thanks for the congrats all. We are doing great. Owen Jospeh was born Sept.5 at 11:24, 8 pounds 7 ounces & 23 inches long. He has beautiful red hair & is perfect in every way. I feel blessed because nursing is going so much better than it did with the other two, it makes a huge difference. I am slowly getting back to normal, getting my staples out this afternoon & I know that will help. DH went in to work for half day today so my mom is here helping with Alli & Will.
Hope you are all well. I'll be checking in often to see which babies have arrived & will post if I ever manage to find the time, life with 3 is very busy.

2Jacks I had trouble loading the photos at work (damn firewalls) I'll try again when I get home. I'm sure they're awesome!
Who's still here, still PG? Due Date, how you're feeling?
My due date is Friday, and honestly, I am feeling fine. Today is the first day that I actually feel some cervical discomfort (at least that's where I think its coming from). Dh and I are ready (freezer full of food, clean house, car seat inspected). I'll be glad to have 9/11 over with, since this was the one day I did not want to give birth on...
Actually, DH and I have been pretty stressed out all weekend... A coworker of DH's and I have become pretty good friends since her due date was 3 weeks before mine. She was one week overdue and I was asking DH every night if she had had her baby... finally he told me the news. She stopped feeling the baby move, went in and found out the baby has passed away. She had to vaginally deliver her dead son the next day... (she was 41wks at this point). She is obviously devastated and understandably doesn't want to see us... Its been heartwrenching. DH is now terrified this will happen to us. He asks 10x per day if I've felt movement and wants to talk to the doc on Thursday about induction. He is convinced that its better to induce that to keep the little one in there an extra week. I keep trying to tell him how rare this is (and logically, I know this to be true), but he's so worried, and frankly, now I am too... I am definitely going to ask lots of questions at my appt. But just don't know how aggressive I should be regarding potential induction...
What do you guys think? Should I pursue induction? Will a doctor do it if you ask? I don't know what to do. We are pretty upset. I am so scared I will run into her (although I know she hasn't returned to work yet)...
I really hope I didn't scare anyone... I know how rare this is and that it probably won't happen to any of us, but I am still scared. And like I said, DH is terrified.
We will be trying all natural induction methods this week for sure... But honestly, who feels like sex this late in the game, especially after what has happened...
Thanks for letting me vent my concerns...

QOTD: me!!! I'm 39 weeks today, still pregnant! My due date is next Tuesday. Not much to report, really. Hip pain, lots of movement from Fasolaki. I'm 'sauntering' slowly these days (I refuse to call it waddling!).

batgirl Oh my goodness - that is awful for your friend. I'm so sorry for her. I cannot even imagine what that must be like. With that news, I can understand your concern and the sudden interest in induction. Most doctor's are more than willing to perform inductions as far along as you are - I bet you won't have much trouble convincing them - if that is what you decide is best.
Di I like the sound of sauntering much better than waddling!

I finally decided on the birth announcements we are going to use. I guess I should point out that DH is a huge car nut, hence the car in the corner. Here they are:
http://www.tinyprints.com/products/images/957_front.jpg
I pre-ordered envelopes so hopefully I will get those addressed before things get hectic! I am going to see what a small (2.5" x 2.5") picture looks like in the upper left hand corner. If it looks silly, I will just put a picture in the envelope with the announcement.

Batgirl - Ask your doc for an Non-Sress Test. That will allow you to track the heartbeat and movements for about 20 minutes. If there is any cause for concern - even if baby's heartrate is averaging a few beats per minute lower than her baseline, docs will usually want to intervene.
I had one at my last appointment and was amazed to discover how often baby moves that I can't feel. My placenta is up front, so come of her more gentle wriggles I can't feel at all. It was VERY reassuring. It may help you and DH feel better about waiting, or it may spur you to induce. Either way, it's a great tool.

Took DD to her two week appt today. She was a good patient even for as long as it took. The pediatrician said that she hears what she thinks is a heart murmur and has referred us to a pediatric cardiologist. She said she wouldn't be so concerned if DH hadn't had one when he was a child. In which he outgrew. She also sees a cloudiness over her Cornea in both eyes. Which is something Allie has. We are already seeing a pediatric opthomalogist for that so we are going to follow up with him on this situation. She isn't back up to her birth weight but she is only 1 oz away. She had lost down to 7lbs 2 oz before we left the hospital so she has gained 8 oz and we are working on getting her to take more each feeding. This formula is so fulfilling she just gets pooped out. But other then that all went great.
Batgirl - while it's very, very sad what happened to your friend, it's also very, very rare. There is NO REASON to think anything might be wrong with your baby or your pregnancy. Try not to stress out about it, and realize that her medical situation was simply different than yours/most.
Had my follow up doc's visit today, at 40 weeks, 1 day. I'm going to go ahead with the planned induction Wednesday, if I don't start labor on my own before then. I'm 100% effaced and 2 cms dilated, so I won't need any cervidil, and the second opinion doc really put my mind at ease. Added bonus, the doc I normally see, who is my fave doc in the practicve, is the one at the hospital Wednesday. NST looked "beautiful" she said, U/S was great. Though I have not dropped or lost my plug, baby is head down and engaged and "really quite low" so I may just go into labor all on my own. Feeling so much less stressed than I was all week, and she was appalled at how the other doc treated me - making me feel forced into doing the induction and telling me a good reason to induce was to ensure I could get a hospital bed - she said that was ridiculous, she was just at the hospital and they have 4 labor and delivery rooms open, even with scheduled inductions and a naturally laboring woman there today.
So, I'll have a baby in the next two days! :D
Holy crap, I'll have a baby in the next two days!

Thanks for the reassurance ladies. I know you guys are right. I just feel so terrible. And I actually feel a bit guilty.
Brenda thanks for suggesting the Non-Stress Test. I have heard you guys talking about them, but didn't really know what they are. I think that sounds better than jumping the gun and inducing just because we are scared.
{b} Wow, your only one day away! Good luck tomorrow. So glad you have the better doctor.

FMLA Fun I finally got down to business and counted out the days for my FMLA leave. If the baby sticks it out until October 6th, I will be able to be out for the rest of the year. If he comes earlier than that, I will have to do some negotiating. So I'm hoping for a late baby. :)

batgirl - I'm sorry for your friends loss, it's not easy. I know for us when the doctor mentined induction I was a little scared, but for us it was better than infection. It really isn't that bad, so if you want to inquire with your doctor, it may be a good idea, it will put your mind at ease and you are certainly going to have a healthy baby as you are plenty far enough.

Craft, that's great news about your mother being able to look after little Claire! My mom is in town this week getting to know her little grandson. It's been a big help. :)
When I lay her down and she'll lay there for a while then start crying. When I pick her up she is perfectly content and will fall asleep in my arms.
Kai is the same way. A friend of mine is already warning us that we're spoiling him by holding him so much. It's tough though because in the wee hours we just want to do what works, lol.

Ahh, I wouldn't worry about it. You can't spoil them this young. They just are finding comfort in what is familiar, the sound of your heartbeat, the rhythm of your breathing, the sound of your voice. Besides, they don't stay that tiny and sweet forever, enjoy them wanting to be held now while ya can, because it will seem like you will blink and you'll be spending your time chasing them and trying to hold them! :)

b- good luck with your induction!!
batgirl- I can't even imagine how hard it is to be dealing with your friend's loss so late in your own pregnancy. Maybe doc will do the NST just to relieve your worry.
cosmic- I agree, can't spoil a newborn, lsnuggle & love him as much as you can.
2jacks- bf I am still having the toe-curling pain when he first latches on, but it lets up pretty quick....I can not wait until that goes away.

I had a session of very strong Braxton-Hicks contractions last night. It lasted about 2 hours or so. I knew they were BH because they were fairly irregular, did not increase in intensity, and when I walked to the bathroom, they subsided.
Not much else to report.

Hey there ladies!
I finally have some time to catch up and say hello. Cameron is doing wonderfully! He is back up to his birth weight of 6 lbs 14 oz, and is eating and sleeping well. His nick name in the house is Squeekers McWiggles because he squeeks so much!
((((September Mommies and Mommies still in waiting!)))))) So exciting to see the babies! We all have such beautiful babies!!!
Birth story;
Well I went to my 36 week appt.(Friday 8/25, 4:20 pm) and my BP was high, they wanted to keep me for observation for 3 hours, during that three hours they found protein in my urine, soooo they checked me in to the hospital for a 24 hour urine test. As you can guess it came back with elevated proteins, and my BP was still elevated as well. Since I was not effaced or dialated at all, I was scheduled for a C Section at 4:00 pm that day (Sunday 8/27) and at 4:16 he was here! Camerons lungs were a bit wet, so he was put into NICU for the next 5 days, I was released on Thursday, but was able to stay the extra night thanks to a wonderful program the hospital has that allows the mommy to stay for a few extra nights if needed in "hotel mode" if the baby is going to be released in the near future. SO on friday we tried to take him off 02, his 02 sat levels still not strong enough so we took him home with his tank. 4 hours later, I awoke from a nap in my bed not being able to breathe! SOOOO to the ER we go! 7 hours, a cat scan, ultrasound an ekg the threat of being checked in for 3 or 4 days for observation9 one doctor was hell bent on it being blood clots even when they didnt find any in the CAT scan or ultrasounds UGH!), and they FINALLY the head of ER meds decided it was a problem with the labetalol (sp) I was having a reaction to the BP meds!!!! UGH!!! So they give me a script. for lisinopryl (sp) instead, and a steriod inhaler, as I had swelling and fluid in my lungs... So home we go, at ohhh 12:30 AM, we havent eaten since lunch, and I still cant breathe, so I spend the night sitting up in the living room in the lazy boy because I couldnt lay down and breathe.... and because it was so late at night we had to wait until the next day to get my new meds..... I still didnt sleep very well for another night, because I was now afraid I would stop breathing in my sleep. I would start to fall asleep, and then wake myself up gasping for air like I had a sleep apnea! FINALLY on Sunday I was exausted and had my appetite back (did you know you arent hungry when you arent getting enough o2?) BUT WAIT THERES MORE!!! On Sunday I asked my son to go to Taco Bell and get me some food, as it sounded good and HEY I was finally hungry! Well wouldnt you know I would end up with food poisoning?!?! I spent Monday throwing up, it was charming!!!!! Specially with the stitches and soreness of a C Section.... By Tuesday morning I was fine, (hence why I suspect food poisoning) took Cameron to the Pediactrics, he was given a clean bill of health and was taken off the o2. Tuesday afternoon I had a follow up appt with my family practitioner, everything is good with me except I still have hypertension... So I am still on lisinopryl (sp) and have to take it pretty much easy. I have another check up and full blood panel in another week. I feel great! OH I forgot to tell you all!!!! NOT ONLY was MIL actually HERE for the birth (totally by chance can you STAND IT?!?!?!) BUT I had to tell them to go home and NOT to come back the first weekend we were home with the baby (can you imagine what it would have been like for me not being able to breathe AND hypertensive with Mrs. CRAZY here too????!!!! It was nerve racking the first few days in the hospital, my room was full of people constantly, my mom flew in, but my cel phone would not stop ringing because her and dad were in the middle of closing escrow on a house in New Mexico they were selling, and the in laws were not to be outdone in any fashion.... I literally would leave my room just for some peace and quiet!!!!! I would hide in the hall and call Maryanne (June/July mommie) so I could cry.... all the time with my baby in NICU. AND!!! Dr. Dickhead ended up being the one on call the day we had the baby and he delivered!!! Of all the luck! (or should I say lack there of!!!!) The good news is that he figured out from my charts that I was not pleased with our other meeting and he was above and beyond good. He made a point of waiting until my husband could be there and even tried to talk the head of the dept. into keeping me for a week on observation before delivery (he lost head of dept won) and he let us put our music on in the delivery room too. He was really nice this time, much better bedside manner when it came down to it, then the way he treated me prior at my appt when he had me in tears....
WHEW! Okay I think thats it, the end of the perils of Pauline! LOL! Cam is beautiful and I wouldnt take any of it back for any price! I dont know how to post photos, but if you click the link below you can see the two albums of our last two weeks... the one that comes up first is actually the last few days. (no tubes!) the other is a rundown of the first two weeks, look how swollen I was!!! OH thats what I forgot to say!!! I was already down below pre pregnancy weight last tuesday!(down 22 lbs) YAY! DH says its amazing how fast my body is changing, tummy still swollen from surgery, but I am melting away everywhere! I am smaller every morning.

Still waiting here!
Had my OB appointment yesterday, I'm about 80% effaced and 1 cm dialated, so at least I've made some progress since last week, when nothing was going on. ANd she's dropped MORE, which makes me join the "sauntering" club. :D
Far less contractions today than I've had in the past couple of days, though, although she's still been quite active!
Doctor says he thinks labor may start on its own this week, of not by next week. I may have to get a little jump start by then. Definitely going to keep trying all of the natural induction methods as much as possible!

I haven't been online much, so just a quick post...
2jacks & mommy2AlliWil I'm in the same camp with BF. Burning pain when she latches on my left side. My right was the same, but it got better quickly, it's perfect now. However, with the left, i actually has to stop nursing her for abour 4 days and just pump that side, cause I just could not take the pain. She also was refusing my left side, and I figure it's cause it hurt me and she was picking up on that! It's still a bit sore, but getting better. Boy am I looking forward to pain free BFing. I keep reminding myself that once you get over the hump, BF is soooo easy.
Rachel is growing like crazy! She has already far surpassed her birthweight, I'd say she is 8.5 lbs at least now. She has a Dr. appt. next Tuesday for her first checkup. She is a cuddlebug and wants to be up in our arms a lot. Dh uses the snugli a lot. She still has a bit of day/night confusion and has her fussy time for 2-3 hours at night. However, last night she slept with us and went to sleep at 11:30, and didn't wake until 5 for a feed!!!! I loved the extra sleep. I don't want to co-sleep, but if that's what I have to do to get some rest, then I'll be doing it!
I really need to make a point of coming online more. I'm so behind, there's not even any point in trying to respond to all the posts I've missed. SOrry.!!

Roadrunner, I understand the co sleeping thing. DH reallly wants us to use the bassinette and to get Cameron used to sleeping in it. I use it alot during the day, but at night... well I end up with him in my bed, he sleeps so much better and longer with me! Of course right now, I am sleeping in the other his nursery not in my own room with DH too, But I dont want both of us not to sleep, and DH is such a light sleeper, I know it would be more difficult if I had Cameron in our room, and I couldnt just grab him and put him in bed with me after our middle of the night feeding.
I have a month until my dad comes to visit, at which point I will have to sleep in the other room with DH and bring the bassinette with me. besides, we cant mess around now, and uhhh its been a while now! and I really need to wait until we have the all clear from the Doctor, so sleeping with DH would be torture, as I really want to snuggle with him, and well one thing leads to another! LOL!
DH thinks baby will go from the bassinett/cosleeper thingy to the crib in a bout a month. I don't think that's going to happen. I'm interested to see how much his views will change once baby is here... you know TOMORROW!

co-sleeping We had DS in a co-sleeper in our room until he was 6 mos old. Then he absolutely wouldn' tgo into his crib. He would cry hysterics until he barfed. Nice. So he began coming in our bed at night so we too could sleep. He is still there and although we both agree we lik eit, he is so snuggly and it is wonderful waking up to kisses etc.
But now, he is really tough to get to go down. We ( or I) need to lay with him and he does not want Eliza to be near me and it is really a prob. Especially since Dh isn't home much at night. ARGH. I was hoping eliza would be a little more independent but last night she was side-lying nursing and DS was basically so far under my back that I was trapped. i had to wake up DH to move him.
btw, it is super storming here- flash flood warning!

co-sleeping Right now Kai sleeps in a bassinet in our bedroom. We like having him nearby at night and it's convenient for feedings. We're planning to move him to his crib at about six months.
Best wishes to the ladies still waiting and good luck today, {b} !

Update on me: I had a midwife appointment last night. Can I just say how much I love my providers? They are really caring and actually know me which is a first for me! The results came back normal on my bile salts (sounds yummy, eh?) so I do not have the condition that would force me into an induction. Still no explanation for the incredibly itchy skin, though. It is starting to create a problem since I scratch so much that my skin breaks open and bleeds. She recommended Aveeno lotion, so I will buy some today, but I can't really see it helping enough.
After discussing how far over my due date she would let me go (at 41 weeks they would start planning for an induction if I couldn't get things going by myself) I convinced her to move my due date back from their calculated date of 9/22. I explained that with charting I know that I ovulate later than most, so the due date should be more like 9/29. She agreed so now she won't start talking induction until 10/6 which is perfectly agreeable to me.
Baby was looking good, she says that I have dropped slightly and she can tell the baby's head is more engaged in my pelvis which hopefully means that he won't flip breech on us. When she listened to his heart beat, he was moving around like crazy so she coulnd't keep up. When she got him for a bit, his heart beat sounded like "woof, woof, woof, woof". She said that she hadn't heard that sound before. Better than "meow", I guess. ;) I declined the internal exam again. She told me that I will have to have one at some point but I'm hoping it's just at the hospital when labor has really gotten going.
rosegardenc Oh my goodness - one thing after another for you! Glad that you are feeling better now after such a rough start.

Twink: I can totally sympathize with you on the itching!!! It really sounds like you have Pupps. They did the bile test on me too to make sure that I didn't have that gallbladder condition too. I still have several bars of that miracle Grandpa's PineTar soap. I think it began to clear things up after only a few showers. If you want to PM me your address, I could ship you out a bar of it?

Hey Everyone---
Spent about 6 hours at the hospital last night, with no result. I had horrible back pain and consistent contractions from about midnight on, I woke up DH around 1:30, and we called my doctor when my contractions were pretty consistent about 6 minutes apart. We were in around 3:30. I got hooked up to the fetal monitor, baby was handling everything quite well, but I didn't get more dialated (still only about 80% effaced and 2 cm), so they sent me home to rest (which I really, really needed) and to wait for more intense, consistent contractions.
Disappointing, and the contractions have gotten a little bit lighter and spaced out. I'm taking it easy with DH, watching movies, walking around when I can, and counting contractions. Hoping we'll be back at the hospital soon!
One weird thing... TMI, I'm sure, since my last exam at the hospital, I've been bleeding a bit, I know that exams can cause that, but it's not really stopped and is bright red with some clot stuff going on. Mucous plug, or should I be concerned? I may call my doctor if it's still there in an hour.
Anyway, good luck to {B} today, and hopefully I'll have some good news soon, too!

Here's the oh-so-uneventful story of Theodore's birth:
On Sunday August 27, around 9:30 p.m., my contractions started being regular again. By 10:30, they were 2-3 minutes apart, so we decided to head to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, they hooked me up to the monitor, and after some slight technical difficulty getting it to record, we were able to get a reading that my contractions were “7 to 10 minutes apart.” So the doctor decided to check me. I was still only 1-2 cm and 60%. The attending decided to call my doctor and ask them what they wanted to do. As soon as I heard the name of the doctor on-call, I thought for sure they’d send me home (it was the stupid doctor that had been giving me grief all along!) Well, surprisingly, they decided to keep me overnight and monitor me. I had contractions all night long and when they checked me at 8:30, the doctor said that I was about a 3, but still 60%, so they decided to break my water and start me on pitocin. My blood pressure was staying high and my pulse was REALLY high. They kept checking me every half hour to an hour, with no progress(with the exception of TONS of water every time they checked me.) Then my doctor came in and told me that I could go ahead and get the epidural whenever I wanted to because he thought that as little progress as I was making that it was going to be “lightening fast” and he didn’t want me to “miss out on my pain relief.” DH and I spent the day watching movies and laughing. Then the doctor and my nurse were getting ready to go to lunch and wanted to check me before they left, well, at that checking I was only a 4 and still holding at 60%. So the nurse checked me when she came back from lunch around 1 p.m. and I was finally progressing to a 5, but still 60%. I just could not get fully effaced for some reason. So the doctor had the nurse check me again because he was needed to do a 20 minute procedure at 1:15, and the nurse said I was a 6, but still 60%. The doctor went to do his procedure and when he came back around 1:30 the nurse was starting to get concerned because the baby‘s heart rate was dropping wi
