we used to live in quincy for years and go in town more often but now we dont as much.

I grew up on Cape Cod however now I live in VA but I am back in MA alot as we still have a house there and my parents and 2 sisters still live on the Cape!

I saw you post in the Boston thread so I thought I would come by here since I kind of fit in both areas!

Coming to visit from the Boston thread! I decided that I wanted to check out the cranberry bogs this fall because I've never seen one, and I remembered someone telling me that the Cape was the place to go. Do you happen to have any recs or thoughts?

If you just drive down the highway-195 to 25 or even along route 6 you will see cranberry bogs and the colors are gorgeous. .

But if you want to tour one then this is a good one:

http://www.cranberrybogtours.com/

Also there is the Falmouth Cranberry Festival, I have never been to it though:

4th Annual Falmouth Cranberry Harvest
& Farm Festival

Saturday, October 14, 2006 (rain date October 15)

10-3 PM

On the John Parker Road Bogs in East Falmouth (Off Sandwich Road)

There is also another cranberry grower called Georgetown Cranberry in Harwich. They are fairly new to the area so I don't really know much about them.

I hope that helps!

Guess the South Shore isn't a big area for CC'er's. I miss the area so much but unfortunately for us in DH's line of work living in that area isn't much of an option but it would be great for me with my parents there.

Jeeplover- Next time you are in the area, I recommend that you try Not Your Average Joe's. (http://www.notyouraveragejoes.com/) Yummm..

We've been there 3 times in the last 2 weeks!!

Any other South Shore love out there?

Fenway-They actually just built the first Not Your Average Joe's out of MA in our town in VA. I used to go there all the time when I lived in Framingham-so yummy-can't wait to eat at the one here!

Really? I had no idea they were expanding that much. Make sure you get on their e-mail list. Just for signing up, you'll get a coupon for 20% off your total bill drinks and all, and for your birthday you'll get a coupon for a free entree.

We live in NH, but visit the cape often during the summer (Centerville.)

Is anyone going to Nantucket Memorial day weekend for Figawi?

Hi Heidi!

My Step mom has had a Nantucket time share for 20+ years, but I've only been there once. I don't even know what Figawi is.

My sister used to live in Centerville. It's a great little village.

Hi! I thought I'd drop in since we are going to the Cape this summer for 2 weeks. We will be in Brewster and have a 2 year old. I'm looking for some suggestions for things to do with a small child.

I'd also love BEACH and RESTAURANT suggestions!

TIA!

Alienhost-There are some great things to do with children on the cape. One is the Natural Museum of History which is in Brewster right off of 6A. My nephews love it there. I am not sure if your child is into trains but a trip to Snow's in Orleans would be worthwhile. They have a wonderful train display there.

As for beaches, Nauset Beach is nice and there are some great beaches in Dennis as well. Paines Creek is nice too, little tide pools for children to play in and there is a great ice cream place at the end of the road.

Not sure what type of food you are looking for though. There are many many restaurants but during the summer they tend to get crowded. The Box Lunch is a great sandwich shop, they have locations in Orleans (I think) and in Dennis as well as Hyannis.

If you want more specifics just let me know. I grew up in Dennis right on the Brewster line.

jeeplover thanks for the info! The Mueseum of Natural History sounds great, I actually just saw a blurb about it in a local Parent's publication. Snow's sounds interesting too.

As for food - any restaurant that is kid-friendly. We are renting a condo so probably will only need to eat out for dinner and mostly get sandwiches etc for lunch. Our parents are coming for a few nights each so we might get to eat out sans DD.

So if you have any Kid Friendly recomendations near Brewster and Nicer Places for nights without DD that would be great!

thanks!
