hcg Injection site?

First I want to say I'm glad I've found all the WC girls, even though I'm a big time lurker. I feel like a know everyone else a lot better then you all probably know me ;) I just want to run by a quick question. I got my trigger shot today. The nurse said she could give it to me in the butt or in the stomach. She said the doctor has done a study and the results show a better result in the injection given in the stomach. However everything I have read on the internet explains that the shot should be given intramuscularly, but the abdominal shot I received was very tiny and did not go through the muscle. So, could you girls tell me where your shot was given?

I've been to 2 different RE offices. One said just do it SubQ, in the stomach, and the other said no do it IM, in the hip. I was confused, and asked why IM instead of SubQ?

The RE told me that in their clinic they have seen several people get allergic-type reactions to the SubQ shot in the stomachs. She said it's a skin irritation that can be itchy and annoying. So they have switched to routinely doing them or having patients do them IM, in the hip. HTH!

Mine was IM, in the caboose, courtesy of DH - who did a mighty fine job, especially for a professional computer geek. :)

I think it also depends on which drug they are using as the HCG trigger. I think there are at least 3 different ones out there (2 which should be SubQ and one that should be IM). I had Ovidrel and gave it to myself in my stomach!

Mine is always in the tummy- I was told they need a fatty area (and I've definately got plenty of that- heee!)

i've heard so many different things, but i'm guessing as long as you get the shot, it's fine!

for my clomid/iui cycles, i was given the IM shot in my butt by the nurses at the office.

for my injectibles cycle, i gave myself the trigger shot in my stomach with the smaller needle.

for my 2 IVF cycles, my husband gave me the IM trigger shot in my butt.

i guess there's no real rhyme or reason. good luck!

For both my injectables cycle and my IVF cycle my shots were in the
hip but they didnt give me any rationale really!
