First, check out this thread (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10234), it's a pretty good list of some of the threads that have already been discussed here. So, if you want more info on going off of the pill, there are three threads that you can reference. Likewise, there are threads about prenatal vitamins.

Finally, if I were you, I'd quit smoking (the both of you, he should be able to share in that difficult task). Start taking a prenatal vitamin. Read TCOYF, even if you don't plan on charting, it's really eye opening to learn about our bodies.

And finally, good luck!

I agree, BOTH of you should quit smoking (and he shouldn't do it in the car while you are in it OR not in it, you may get smell aversions!)

We've noticed that I may be physically pregnant, but he's emotionally in it with me. (Oh, and sometimes physically when it comes to cravings!)

Hello! How exciting for you that you guys have decided to TTC. I’m not pregnant, so I don’t really have any advice for you. I just wanted to encourage you and your DH to quit smoking and to not start up again. I grew up in a family of smokers, and I can say that it was definitely detrimental to my health. Quitting smoking is one of the best things that you and your DH can do for your future children.

In terms of things that help . . . have you considered some of the anti-depressants (like Welbutrin, I believe) that help with the cravings? My mother is using them, and they seem to be helping her (keep in mind that she’s been a smoker for over 50 years!). Maybe try the patch. You could use that just to help you get past the first few weeks of withdrawal.

I used to be a (casual) smoker, and I'll tell you what - I can't STAND that @#$!%*# smell now that I'm pregnant. When we are walking down the street and there's someone standing with a cig, I have to hold my nose/breath until the danger of smelling it has passed. I can't stand being near anyone who smells like cigs, either. I picked my brother up once and he had just smoked a cigarette. I had to drive down the freeway with all four windows open just because that smell was still lingering around him.

I can't imagine what it would be like if my husband smoked. I'd never want to kiss him, never want to be near him, etc. It would be Misery for both of us. Cigarettes have been my only real smell aversion, too.

Ask your doctor (and have your husband ask his doctor) for a prescription for Wellbutrin. It works like a charm. No "cold turkey" cravings with it, either. And be prepared for your sex life to take off like a rocket. ;)

I wasn't a smoker so I never had to deal with that, but when I started TTC I started drinking more water, started trying to eat healthier and started taking pre-natal vitamins (Target brand).

Adding my 2 cents...

I did not smoke, but I did drink a fair amount of alcohol, so I cut back quite a bit while TTC. I still had a few drinks in the first half of my cycle, but I kept it to only one or so with dinner after I possibly ovulated.

I also started taking prenatal vitamins and eating better.

I would also suggest getting on an exercise program if you are not currently on one. They say that you really should not start any new exercise programs while PG, but you can continue with an existing one. Unfortunately, I had been lazy before getting PG, so now I have to stick with walking and prenatal pilates and yoga. I wish I could do more.

I would think your current workout would be perfect, especially since it is low-impact. Of course, you are supposed to run it by your doctor (in case you have a high-risk pregnancy or anything) but from everything I have heard, that should be fine to continue,
