Jennylou - I can't believe that 'Your Pregnancy this Week' assumes that you will have/will be giving birth this week. That's not very nice. IVillage and Fertility Friend nicely assume I have gone over.

I kindly e-mailed work and told them I was done. I gave them some pointers with the one last remaining thing they wanted me to try to do, but they will be pretty screwed without me completing it :)

My biggest nightmare is if the doctor we see tomorrow doesn't think I should be induced on Tuesday, or if the doctor from last week screws up and it doesn't get on the schedule.

But right now the plan is to go to the dr in the morning, and then DH goes to work and I take a day to myself.

Oh, a great thing happened today - my low coolant light in my car came on, but we don't think it is just a low coolant issue, so we are back to just driving DH's Jetta. Grrr....It is SO uncomfortable while pregnant. If I end up having to have a C-section, I pray he can get it fixed before he has to bring us home from the hospital.

Yippe, a new thread.

Jennylou- that email was just cruel!!!!! Hopefully the email will be true very soon form you.

Jesseybell- Sorry about the car issues, my car is a POS so I understand what a pain it is.

Just checking in with the new thread!

I feel awful. I've spent the last 2 days honking my nose, hacking my lungs, sneezing everywhere, and now I have a fever with the cold chills. I've coughed so much my belly is constantly sore. I haven't slept in 3 days, even with the Tylenol PM, so I guess we'll hope I sleep better tonight. DH thinks I've just worn myself out - what with all the walking, (total of 14 hours walking since Thursday) trying to get things started, plus 2-3 hours a night just doesn't cut. it.

Anyway - I'm around, just not up to being fully functionable, but didn't want you guys to worry.

Now I just hope I get better before Wednesday - what if he cancels???

I have absolutely no appetite - had two biscuits for brekkie, 3 bites of chinese for lunch, and half a bowl of chicken noodle soup for supper. *sigh* Food sounds disgusting right now..

I'm taking the next two days off - rest and relaxation is the name of the game. Screw my to do list - I need my rest!!!

mrstim I hope you feel better soon! Get some rest!

jesseybell Yay for being done with work! I hope you can get your ccar fixed soon. Mine is in the shop right now and won't be done until Friday or Monday. :(

I am still having contractions all day long. My belly is so sore!

DH, BIL and my dad worked on our ceramic tile floor again this weekend. They are making progress, but I just want it all to be done! At least the front room is completely finished now, so tomorrow we will put the furnature back in there and I will have my front room and my dining room back (that's where all of the furnature has been). Yay! :)

Hope we have some more babies soon!

Heading to the hospital. Water broke shortly after midnight (while laying in bed) and the intense contractions started shortly after that. Have been 4-5 minutes straight from the start but are getting much more intense so going to the hospital (originally they didn't want me in until 8 if no contractions) so I can hopefully get my epi and get some sleep! We are starting this thing out exhausted as it is.

It's a bit quiet in here this morning....maybe more mommies are having babies??? :) I hope so.

Bought a baby papasan seat yesterday since I had given Isaac's bouncy seat away. I have Grant in it right now, he went right to sleep. Hopefully it continues to work this well. *crossing fingers*.

Anyway, must go eat before the boys won't allow it. Hope all our mommies are having a good day.

I think that's what most of us are WISHING! :D

I'm just quiet b/c I'm still very sick. :( Can't believe that this is happening yet again - I had the flu the week of my wedding! WHY is it that every big event in my life is preceded by me ending up sick!

I'm so sore from coughing - I can't imagine what it'll feel like after pushing a baby out! ACK!

Hard to believe that I only have 2 days left!

Hope all the other mommies are doing well - I need to go lay down!

Totally jealous of those of you that now have your babies in your arms. But at the same time I am terrified thinking about labor. I have been very emotional lately. Not sure if anyone else is feeling like this, but I run around cleaning like a mad women and then stop for a second and wonder if I have everything ready for the baby. I go into her room and start looking around to make sure I have everything. Dh must think I am nuts. But he has been wonderful and doing so much around the house helping me out.

Good Luck Jessie!

It is quiet in here...

Today, I'm doing a few last minute things around the house. And I want to spend some quality time with DS, our last day before the baby arrives. I can't believe it's happening tomorrow. Well, I will be going into the hospital tonight for some gel application to get my cervix soften. Then it's back to the hospital tomorrow morning for my induction.

isaacsmommy - You sound like you're doing great. Glad you're getting some quiet for yourself.

mrstim - Sorry you're feeling sick. Do get some rest because pushing that baby out takes a heck of a lot of energy outta of ya.

jarocha - Sounds like your nesting.

I totally agree with you, Jarocha! I just had a minor meltdown because it dawned on me when I was reading another thread that I have no idea how many poops and pee's the baby is supposed to have in 24 hours to know if they're getting enough nourishment. Silly, I know - but I guess this is something some people think we need to know? I had about 1 million different questions try to shoot through my mind and I'm starting to seriously doubt my ability to do this! I know I'll be able to, though - EVERYONE says "oh, it just comes naturally" but I won't know that until it DOES, KWIM??

Anyway - just wanted to say I for one understand! I keep thinking "do I have enough diapers, do I have enough x, or y?" I'm also trying to get last minute things done, all while trying to relax. The next few days are going to be BUSY!

Let's see -

Jesseybell - in labor NOW!
Cocoa_femme - any moment now!
Bluhimmy - induction August 8th
Me - induction August 9th
Jennylou - should be any moment now!
babylove - should be induced August 13th

Whoa! Am I missing anyone? That's just the ones that are scheduled - any of us could go at anytime! Amazing!

OH well, guess it'll all just have to happen - I mean, what can they do? "You don't think you have enough diapers? Ha, lets shove that baby back up in there for another couple of weeks." *said in my best gruff doctor voice*

HA!

Jarocha- You don't sound crazy, you sound like a normal pg woman (hehe normal and pg probably don't go together) nesting before her baby comes.

I cross posted with you Mrstim. Its completely normal to worry especially with your first. I remember I had everything you could POSSIBLY need before having Isaac just in case. This time like a week before my c/s I was like 'Oh yeah I might want to buy some diapers'. So I bought two packs of newborns (thats it). Remember (not that you want to have to but) anything you need can be gotten later, well except maybe a carseat and few other essentials.

No wonder I wasn't getting any notifications...we have a new thread!!! :)
I just checked back in the old thread and there isn't any indiction that I could see that a new thread started...

Jessie ~ GOOD LUCK!! How exciting!!

Amy ~ So sorry you are sick! I guess it's just the stress of the last few weeks finally taking a toll on your body.

Cherish ~ I hope your floors are finished soon!

Jenn ~ I have the baby papasan seat too and I hope it puts my baby to sleep also ;) (when he finally gets here!!!)

Gisell ~ I've been very emotional too...

Diana ~ Tomorrow is the big day! Good luck!

Joelle ~ Liam is so precious and you look amazing! Ry looks soo adorable holding her baby brother!

Been home all day putzing around. I've cleaned and organized everything in sight. Done 2 loads of laundry. Paid bills. Waited for the oven repairmen who didn't even fix the d@mn oven (don't get me started!!). And I'm still in my pjs. I just don't feel like showering or getting dressed today. MIL came over and brought me 3 adorable outfits for the baby from her NYC trip. And a brand new Medela Pump In Style breast pump that her cousin is lending me. Yippee!

I feel like there's nothing left to do in my house and I'm going stir crazy!! Baby, get out of my belly!! :D

Yeah Jessie! Hope your LD goes well! DH and I went out one last time for a lunch date today and to exchange a stroller we got for a gift. It was the right stroller, but the box was already opened and everything had been taken out so I didn't want to chance having missing pieces in a week or so when i'm ready to use it. I just got the baby name hung up in her room and now I'm just awaiting my appointment tomorrow at 2:00. We will find out then if I'm going in for Cytotek tomorrow night or just for the pitocin on Wednesday morning. But for sure we will be inducing on Wednesday, August 9th @ 7:30am. Work gave us Monday and Tuesday off this week due to all the extra work we did over the summer so these two days aren't counting against my maternity leave! Yea!

I ate some Mexican for lunch and little one has been beebopping around all day. She now goes through spurts. I've been having some minor contractions but nothing to write home about. I have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday at 11:15am and will probably have another internal to see if there is anymore progress (please! :) ).

Her name is Reagan Augusta. 8 pounds 7 ounces, 21 inches long. DH forgot to include the info (he was too excited)

The birth wasn't too bad (had issues with the epidural). Just got released today - no major complications. She is a BIG eater!! she can nurse for an hour and a half and be eating the whole time... fun for mommy.

I'll catch up later.

Good luck Jessie! Hopefully you have had the baby by now!

Amy~ Sorry you are still so sick. Hope you feel better really soon.

I can't believe how many are going to be induced this week. We will having babies everywhere!

Today was my first day back at work. I had to sit in meetings all day and it was not fun. I was extremely uncomfortable and had a lot of low back pain - reminded me of menstrual cramps. I sat in the back of the room so that I could get up and stand against the wall and leave to go walk around. It made for a very long day. I was expecting a lot of comments today like "oh my gosh you are huge!" and stuff, but was pleasantly surprised to hear the opposite. People were telling me I looked really good and that they expected me to be a lot bigger than I am. I am sure they were just flattering me - I have gained almost 50 lbs. so there is nothing small about me! But no "foot in the mouth" comments to make me feel like crap. :p We have childbirth class tonight which is good because I can ask about the low back cramps.

ETA: Congrats Jen!!! Welcome home!

For those of us facing induction, I have a question:

What, if anything is on your "last minute" to-do list?

I cleaned out the fridge, since I know some friends will be bringing in food, otherwise, I'm just making sure the bathrooms are clean, floors are vacuumed/swept, laundry is caught up, dishwasher is empty, and paper plates/cups/forks are out on the counter for easy-access.

Anyone else doing similar things? I just wanted things to be as easy as possible when we walk back through that door, exhausted and with our new baby!

Sara ~ If it weren't for my scheduled induction, I would bet that I would have been a Sept mommy too!

For those of us facing induction, I have a question:

What, if anything is on your "last minute" to-do list?

I honestly have to say that everything is done...my DH cleaned the house this weekend! Yea! My bag is packed, the nursery is done, I'm finished at work, don't really care to think about food for after right now (DH can do that when we get home and I'm sure we have friends and family who will bring stuff over). Tonight I'm just doing things like sewing a hem on my DH's jeans. I feel pretty ready (maybe not mentally, but we are in this ready or not).

mrstim
08-07-2006, 05:02 PM
Holly - I wish DH would be able to cook! He can boil eggs and fry bologna - that's about it. I cleaned on Friday, but we have white carpet, so I'll just go over it one more time and it'll be done! We're pretty much ready as well (physically, anyway) the nursery is DONE, bags are packed, I don't work outside the home, so I'm good to go!

So frustrated!!!!! Went to the Dr. today to talk about a possible induction this week and he won't talk about it until my due date which is next Monday. I am so worried she's going to be 10lbs by the time she decides to come out. He checked me and said I'm 1cm dialated and 80% effaced and that she's way high up...hasn't even dropped yet. He stripped my membranes but I have a feeling that's not going to do any good either. I have been crampy all day but I'm sure it's nothing.

On top of that DH's parents are coming in from Florida tomorrow and are leaving Sunday night. DH got them all excited and told them we'd be having her this week and now I have to break the news to them that they probably won't get to meet her this trip.

Sorry to be such a downer. I know she will be here before I know it but I am just so uncomfortable and over the whole pregnancy thing.

Amy - sorry you're frustrated!! Did stripping the membranes hurt? YAY for progressing some at least! So sorry you're dealing with this added stress at this time!

Holly - yeah, I forgot about him grilling! He can do that, but it's the other stuff he's lost on. When he was living alone (only did for about 1.5 years) he ate frozen meals and leftovers provided by his mother.

jennylou

stripping membranes - I've had my membranes stripped twice this pregnancy (and you can see it worked out OH.SO.WELL). Neither one hurt, though the last one was definitely more aggressive (and my OB said it was going to be). Not the most comfy thing in the world, but not horrible either.

Camdynlyn
08-07-2006, 08:59 PM
I'm not sure what is too early to speak of stripping the membranes but I will bring it up at my 37.5 week appointment. Reason being, I'm selfish. Yup, you heard it first! :) My maternity leave starts August 24th and if I wait until I'm 40+ weeks to deliver, I'd already have missed 2+ weeks of my maternity leave and quite honestly, I'd like to have it all with my little one since that time is so precious. I would REALLY like to have this girl in 2 weekends (I think that's the weekend of the 20th) because it would be perfect timing but we'll see. Soo, what's the earliest an OB stripped membranes. I'll have to ask on Wednesday if it'd even be an option at 37.5 weeks. If not, I'm demanding Disability. Who wants me being 39 weeks pregnant starting the first day of school? No one. If she'd put me on disability for the time being until I'd go into labor, I'd be content. Yup, that's me. Selfish Sally.

In other news, we went to our breastfeeding class tonight. Nothing really I didn't know already which made Hubby comment that he thought they should have paid US to teach the classes (this and preparing for childbirth). I said that, or demand everyone joins CC while pregnant. You learn just as much, if not more! ;) :D It was good, though, to see the videos and practice the holds with the fake baby.

I ate Mexican for lunch and have a tinge of heartburn/indigestion tonight so I'm off to eat some Tums and sit on my ball for a couple minutes before crashing with my book in bed. Goodnight!:)

Hi Ladies! An August 2005 momma here! Just wanted to pop in and say congrats and good luck to all of you who have your little ones or are about to! Its is the most amazing event when your heart just pops out of your body and your entire universe becomes about this little critter....you have no idea your capacity to love until those little eyes are looking back at you. I remember one year ago sitting where most of you are, hoping to go soon or be induced or just get this bowling ball off of me in the heat ...bleh....little did I know how much longer it would be. But the wait was worth every second! Now we are planning first birthday parties and looking back at how fast the year went, crying over old posts and first pictures. Its just really really awesome! In November/December when you see the first sign of an August 2007 thread your eyes will bug out and you'll start to look back too....let me know if you have ANY questions!

Best wishes!

Nothing going on here - I have an appt today, WITH MY DOCTOR (what a shock!) so I am going to ask her ALL my birthing questions. I also hope to see that I have made progress, but I am not getting my hopes up. I haven't met with her since May!

We have tons more pictures but none uploaded online yet; I hope to get some tomorrow.

Last night was rough; Reagan was up most of the night fussing. We expected it, but it was still rough. I also hit a "blues" moment and was crying for about two hours last night. :o My mom is staying with us this week and she took her at 4 a.m. to rock her so I could get some sleep. She went to bed around 5 and stayed down until about 8:30 when I woke her up to nurse. Reagan sleeps really well during the day, so DH and I take lots of naps.

Right now it's 10 p.m. and she just finished nursing about 45 minutes ago. We're hoping she'll stay down for about 2-3 hours and then nurse for another 30 minutes. And be down for a few more hours. I had another bought of the blues this evening (must be the evening; it happened the same time yesterday).

She loves the pacifier - and we are totally using it!! It's a life saver. She also loves her swing. My milk is coming in great! (After a crying episode in the hospital where I proclaimed my milk would NEVER come in) Pumping is going well too. Miss Reagan nurses well, but I think I need to call the lactation consultant tomorrow for a bit of help; she doesn't always latch on well after we burp her.

Our baby girl Tabitha Kaili was born at 2:40 pm (8/8/06). She was 6 lbs. 4 oz. & 19.75 inches long. We are both doing great.

I'll be back with pics later when get home.

Congratulations bluhimmy and welcome Tabitha!! I can't wait to see pictures and hear how it went. Sounds like you are doing good though!

Jen - Congrats on Reagan!! Girl, the BFing gets easier I swear it does! The first few weeks are horrible but then it's cake! Use that pacifier, it did wonders for my DD too!!! Take care!

sabriel - hopefully that means something is happening down there!

it'sabug & Amy- good luck tomorrow! I hope it's an easy labor!

babylove - sorry you are feeling $hitty. At least you have an end in sight. I could be looking at Labor Day as my labor day. Ugh, what a thought.

Joelle - ya for momma's milk! Glad to hear that Liam is loving it!!!

plnubride - you skinny minnie! You look great! Great 3D picture, I like how her little lips are so tight together!

As for me...I have been starting to have a ton of braxton hicks over the last few hours. Here I have none for days and now I'm having a ton. I'm not really timing them or anything. I'm about to go to bed. I figure if they are anything major then they will wake me up. LOL! I'm not ready for her to come yet, I have things to do still.

My Wife (Jesseybelle to the rest of you!!) was awesome!! I hope I am in the right forum here, if not could someone please place this post in the appropriate thread?!?! I will leave the nitty gritty for her to tell but will say that she did great and (in my biased opinion) produced the most beautiful little girl the world has seen :o) Jessie will be home sometime Saturday and I am sure she will be anxious to tell all of you about our experiences in childbirth. She wanted me to tell you folks that our baby girl, Elizabeth weighed in at 9lbs 3oz and measured 20.5 inches. Mom sent Daddy home bto write this (and to be honest he fell asleep while her computer was booting a few hours ago) and to get things squared away. Anyway, 8/7/06 @9:43 our life became much fullerand I wish the rest of you the same.

Love,
A New Dad who is speaking for a new Mommy :o)

Holly ~ Good luck with your induction! My dr said I could have my epidural immediately too...yay!

Cherish ~ I hope you're making progress too...there's nothing worse than the dr saying, "nope, still the same."

Summer ~ Those "one bad contractions" really suck...then you're anxious for another, and...nada.

Jen ~ Sounds like you are handling new mommyhood beautiful...I can't wait to see more pics of your baby girl!!

Diana ~ Congratulations and welcome Tabitha!!! What a great name! And she's such a little peanut!

Sara ~ Oy...other than you I feel like I might be the last August mommy. Seems like even the people due after me are getting induced or having their babies.

Jessie (and your DH!) ~ What an adorable post!!!! Congratulations and welcome Elizabeth!!

CONGRATULATIONS Diana! Welcome Tabitha!

CONGRATULATIONS Jessie! Welcome Elizabeth!

Good luck to Amy(mrstim), and Holly(it's a bug) on your inductions today!

Jen: Glad things are going well with you and Reagan. Sara told you the truth, it really does get easier after the first couple of weeks! Liam loves the pacifier too! Ryleigh didn't want it at all! But we are using it this time!

Tracee: Truman will be here really soon! Hang in there!

Sara: Funny how now you are having BH's! I hope she stays in there until you are ready!

Cherish: I hope the pain means something!

Amy(PLNU): Great 3-D picture and you look great! You are tiny!

Summer: I hope your appointment goes well!

As for us, things are going well. It still amazes me that he is only 6 days old. I was JUST getting out of the hospital the last time, and I was so out of sorts, but so far things have been SO different.

Hoping for more baby news soon! Good luck and labour vibes to all!

Take Care!

Good morning everyone! Wow...there is all kinds of news here:)

CONGRATULATIONS BLUHIMMY and WELCOME TABITHA
it appears that your induction went rather quickly....can't wait to see pics and hear the story

CONGRATULATIONS JESSEYBELL and WELCOME ELIZABETH
Such a sweet post by Daddy...Can't wait to see pics

Sabriel - Isn't it nice when people go out of their way to be sweet...such a nice feeling. Hope the contractions are a sign too....

Babylove - Hang in there. You are on the home stretch. I know it gets very nerve racking at times (eveyone in my family keeps joking that I need to have this baby already and I am not even past due yet...so I know how you feel), but before you know it you will be holding your baby, I promise

Its a bug - GOod luck...can't wait to hear the good news

MrsTim - I hope that by now you are well on your way to meeting your son

Camdynlyn - Good luck at your appt today.

Chimichanga - Thanks for the post about how you and Reagan are doing. You r honesty truely helps. Your little sounds precious though...congrats again:)

K&H MOmmy - Sounds like you are progessing quite well. Although I do hope you get everything you need done before your little girl arrives

Dukes Flygirl - It is great to hear that things are going well....could you send some of those vibes my way:)

As for me: So...about 1/2 hr before my appt yesterday they wanted to cancel b/c the Dr got held up in surgery (and bump my to this afternoon)!!! I was SO MAD b/c I hadn't met with my dr since May and I really wanted to discuss my birthing questions/plan - so I was desperately looking forward to this appt. Plus, I wanted to know if I had made any progress. Well, to make a long story short I told them I refused to be bumped and said if there is any chance she is coming in I want to meet with her. So, at 2:45pm (orginal appt was 1pm) I finally got to meet with her and my DH was able to join me. She answered all my questions and was very nice and I have to say that I do LOVE my Dr (the NP, um no)!

So...I am about 50% effaced, 2 CM dilated and she was able to feel the head! Crazy! I was also down another 2 pounds (so a total weight gain of 29 pounds) and for the first time ever my BP was alittle high 130/??...usually I am in the 118/?? range. Not sure what it means, but they were not overly concerned.

Induction is still on for this Thursday night (although she did say that if I was not comfortable with an induction before my due date...she would push it to early next week)...but I am sticking with Thursday:). She also reassured me that the type of epidural they are giving me does not wear out....I will be on a constant drip...this was a major concern for me:)

One final vent - My mom keeps reminding me that the induction is not a sure thing. She was induced with my brother (29 yrs ago) and it didn't work. She was sent home and he arrived on his own 5 days later. I know she is just trying to prepare me....but it gets alittle irritating. I mean, I know induction can take upto 2-3 days....but haven't we advanced over 29 yrs so that the chances of it not working have gone down drastically???

QOTD - Are you having people stay at your house when you are at the hospital/right after you get home?

I thought I made it clear to DH that I didn't want anyone staying at the house. However, DH talked to the IL's and they are coming into town and staying with us to "help". I know they mean well and DH had a hard time turning them down...but I am just not sure how my nerves will handle it....I am more freaked about about that more than anything. My first night home trying to get settled in my new life and I will have house guests.

I also have my real dad coming into town (he is getting a hotel) and my brother and his wife are coming too (staying with my mom and dad)....my cousin and his wife are moving to town this weekend and my great aunt and uncle moved to town this week. SO, needless to say I have a sacry feeling that I am going to have a ton of company right after I get home

Ok...sorry for the novel:)

Summer ~ The couch is my new bed...it's the only place I can sleep comfortably. I don't even attempt to sleep in bed anymore.

Amy ~ You look amazing by the way and the 3D is so cute! I'm glad you perservered and got to meet with your dr! Thanks for the pep talk!

LITTLE MAN IS HERE!!!!!!!!!

Amy's mom just called me. Amy had to have an emergency c-section. She gave me NO details other than Amy and baby are both okay. She said that Amy was still in the OR, and didn't even know that her mom was calling me. (Sweet woman.) She said that Amy would call me with all the details when everything gets settled. OH - and she had already seen lil' man and he was beautiful.

PLNUBride - Well, in a way, your mom is right, induction doesn't always work. It used to be that they'd send the mom home. Now, though, it's more likely that they'll label the mom failure to progress and send her off to the OR. Did you get a bishops score from your OB? If you have a favorable score, you're more than likely to deliver vaginally, however if it's unfavorable, you might want to hold off to see if you make more progress on your own. They say it's about 50/50 for inductions that lead to c/s. I wasn't induced (augmented as I was already in labor), so I won't ever say oh, this is what is going to happen for sure. On the other hand, my sil was sucessfully induced at 39w. She was 3-4 cm dialated and 90% effaced and all went very smoothly for her. I, even in labor wasn't that far progressed, so it's probably about the same (my water had broken and that's why I was in labor).

babylove - I love your nursery, it turned out great. And I really like the mural now that it's all about done. It's not too much, ykwim?

sherry - beautiful baby. :)

bluhimmy - congrats on your baby girl Tabitha!

Jessie - congrats on your baby girl Elizabeth!

Tracee~ Love the nursery. You did a great job.

Abby'sMom~ Logan is such a cutie!

I snuck out of a meeting and came home to rest. I am having a lot of low back cramping and my feet are huge and swollen. Normally the swelling goes down over night, but the last couple of nights that hasn't happened. I look like I have Fred Flintstone feet. :o I have another meeting at 1:15, so I am going to rest for a while with my feet up and then go back to work. I don't know what I will do when I have students next week. I am eager to go to my appt. on Friday to see how the little booger is position (hopefully he has turned) and find out if I am progressing at all with these BHs.

08-09-2006, 10:56 AM
Congrats Amy and Jessie!!!! :) Anxious to hear all of the details!

PLNUbride - oh gosh, this was my issue with DS. I did not want ANYONE in my home staying the night or for long periods of time, I made that very clear. I didn't want to have to worry about entertaining and being "on display" the entire time. Plus we were having BFing issues in the beginning and I was constantly trying to get DS on the boob. I am not comfortable doing that in front of anyone but DH so I would have been confined to the nursery all day long. Since we are in our little apartment right now I don't have to worry about it, but I think everyone now knows how I stand about the issue. An hour or two visit is fine but anything more than that is too much for me and I want you GONE. LOL! I know I have read posts where some girls have found it helpful but I know it would have just irritated me. I would have your DH ask your parents to get a hotel room and they can visit when YOU are ready to have visitors. If they can't understand that they are being very selfish because at this point, it's about you and your new family....not them. Good luck tomorrow!!

Meeting the Baby - we had a lunch the Saturday after DS was born (he was born on Monday morning). Invited everyone up for a potluck to meet him and get it out of their system. I didn't want visitors in the hospital because I wanted that private time with just us. Of course the ILs pushed their way in there but only for an hour so whatever. So the lunch worked for us and everyone knew that they would see him so they backed off a bit.

inductions - From what I've seen most inductions do work and the result is holding your baby within a day or two. If they don't work, at least in our hospital, they don't send the mom home. They will end up doing a c-section for 'failure to progress'. I guess if you wanted to be sent home you could be sent home, as long as the baby and mom are doing fine. I was induced both times before and would PREFER to be induced again so I could plan my day accordingly. :p

babylove - love, love LOVE your nursery!!!!! Did you do wallpaper above the chairrail or did you paint it?? It's gorgeous, just my style! ;) Love your bedding too! Sigh...can't wait until I have a nursery, LOL!

Sherry - you know I think Logan is just too, too cute!!!! Hope things are going well!

UTChick - ha, I had Fred Flinstone feet with DS, that's exactly what I called them too. Hopefully the swelling goes down with a little elevation!! Hope the baby has turned for you too!!!

jennylou - that darn stubborn girl of yours doesn't want to leave her cozy home huh? Hopefully you'll have her this weekend!!!

*******

Well I'm still having the BH but not as bad. I slept pretty good last night too which was a nice surprise. This pregnancy has been the best for me and I'm still very comfortable and FINE with her staying in another couple more weeks. Then again, I'm way behind some of you though, so I can say that without any of you flipping me off, LOL! :p THe a/c decided to blow on my car (car is only 3 years old) so it will be at the dealership until FRIDAY!!! Plus it will cost almost $1k to get it fixed. Lovely. Me and two kids couped up in this closet of an apartment for a few more days, should be FUN!

Abby's Mom - Logan is absolutely precious!

Tracee - you already know how I feel about your nursery - it belongs in a magazine for sure!

UTChick - I've had Fred Flinstone feet for a couple months but they have gotten exceedingly worse the past few weeks - real cute!!!

K&H's Mommy - Sorry about the AC - what timing, huh?

jennylou - i hope it's very, very soon for you!

I'm still here at 39wks2days and hoping something happens soon. I did have a little progress yesterday and finally lost my plug - so nasty! Someone described it as their girly parts having a cold and I thought that was a perfect description. I know it could mean absolutely nothing but I'm really, really hoping.

CONGRATULATIONS MRSTIM!!!!
Can't wait to hear details

Abby's MOM - Logan is ADORABLE! He looks so peaceful! I love how his clothes look so big on him...so precious

Babylove - All I can say is your nursery is AMAZING! Great job!!

Jennylou - I don't know that much about Bishop score but she did mention it at the appt (50% effaced, 2 cm dialated, -1 station (not sure what that is)) and she mentioned that my bishop score looked good and that she thinks that the induction should work fine. But you are right...nothing is a 100% guarantee. I guess I just figured more along the lines of having a c-section before they would send me home empty handed...or they would just keep me as long as needed to allow labor to progress.

K&H Mommy - thanks for the info about inductions...that was kind of along the lines of what I was thinking.

Also...glad to see that I am not the only one who doesn't welcome guests with open arms...for a moment I thought I was being selfish...but now I know I am being normal:)

I did just find out though that the IL's are arriving Friday midday (I am getting inducted at 10pm Thursday night...so there is a 100% chance I will still be in the process of delivering come mid-day Friday) and leaving either Sunday or Monday. Since I won't be hom until Saturday at the earliest (assuming all goes well) it would just be one night...2 night max! Plus, my real dad is trying to come in Friday and then he will also have to leave SUnday...so luckily none of the out of town people are staying too long and I will be in the hospital half their stay...gosh I feel so mean:p

Ryan James was born at 7:59 am via emergency c-section

Amy got to the hospital at 12, as instructed. However, there were no rooms (there were 30 births yesterday!!!!), so she was put in a triage room. At 1 am, they inserted the cytotec. She began having contractions on her own. I don't remember what time (sorry!), but she was finally moved to a labor and delivery room. They started the pitocin at exactly 6 am. Her doctor was in at 6:20, and broke her water. Contractions were roughly 90 seconds long, and 90 seconds apart... yep - back to back! At 7:15, she got her epidural (was dialated to 4). At 7:30, she was dialated to 7. Her blood pressure bottomed out, and Ryan's heart rate kept dropping. It was in the 30's. They called her doctor and said they needed him ASAP. When he got there, looked at what was going on, and said he wanted her in the OR STAT.

Once they got in the OR, they were prepping her, and Ryan's heartrate flatlined. (Talk about scary!!!!!) BUT. He was born at 7:59 "kicking", as Amy said. He weighed 6 lbs. 6 oz. and was 18.5" long. A total peanut! He scored a 9 on BOTH his apgars!! She said he has the perfect mouth and nose, and a little bit of brown hair.

She did not see Ryan from 7:59 to 12:00!!!! She was in recovery that long! And they had turned her epidural too high. She said she was numb from the top of her head to the tips of her toes - couldn't even move her eyes!

She said they tried nursing - he latched on great - but just wasn't hungry. He was lying on her chest while I talked to her and she sounded so happy. She only slept 1 hour last night (understandably) and was exhausted. They are expected to go home Saturday morning.

Congratulations again, Amy and Tim! And welcome, Ryan! :D

Welcome to the world, Ryan and congrats Amy!

**
Doctor appointment went fine today. I'm 2 cm dialated, still 50% effaced. I tested NEGATIVE for Group B Strep (surprise to me) and my iron level was great (good to know since I've been an ice craver). Everything looked good.

I asked about when she would think about stripping the membranes and she said the practice does not do it! She said it's not a proven thing that works (yes, I know) and that they've decided as a practice to not offer it. I was a little bummed by this. She did say, though, that she does not expect me to go over my due date and I expressed my concerns to have this baby BEFORE my due date because of using up my maternity leave. I didn't mention disability but I will next time if there is still no progress. I was also a little bummed that the nurse gave me a funny look when she let me into the room when I asked if I should take off my bottoms for an internal. YES, I'm impatient and want to know any progress and will ask for one each time... get used to it.

After that, I got the car seat inspected and installed correctly and then went to see the lady I used to nanny for. I spent from 1:30-3:30 chatting with them and then we went to the pool until 5:30. Talk about tired. I was exhausted after my doctor's appointment but I stuck it out. I'm heading to the couch as soon as I hit send on this thing, though.

Goodluck to everyone!!

08-09-2006, 05:35 PM
Congrats again Amy and welcome Ryan! What a scary birth story, but glad you're both ok!

Just a brief note about internals... they really don't mean anything. After all, I was at 2 for 5 weeks, and then at 3, then 3-4, then 4+, then when I went in to be induced 4 days later... back to 2! So anything at all can happen. I just don't like to see women getting their hopes up over progress and then having them feel all disappointed. It's happened to me with both of my pregnancies and it sucks to think ooh, the baby's coming soon and then have to wait and wait and wait. I'll step off my soapbox now.

Visitors - I wanted hospital visitors, but only got one aside from my ILs. Most of our friends have kids, so I knew that they wouldn't be able to come, but I cried over it for days. Pretty much the same thing happened with DD, too. I've had some people stop by this week though so I'm happy about that.

Thanks for the comments on Logan! We think he's pretty cute. It's strange to us that his hair is as light as it is because we're all dark-haired (DD included). :)

My mom is in town for the week and has DD, so I'm going to try to work on Logan's birth story while I can remember what happened.

Speedy labor vibes to those of you who are waiting!

Whoa, Amy!! What an intense situation. I am so glad you and Ryan are healthy and doing well.

Glad to hear that I am not the only one with enormously swollen feet. When I got home today, I showed DH my feet and he said, "Is that normal?!?!" Apparently so. He had me prop up my feet and put ice packs on them. I don't know if that helped the swelling, but it sure felt good! Going back to work has been harder than I expected it to be and I am having a lot of BH contractions. I almost have everything ready for my sub, so as soon as I do, this baby is welcomed to come. Just not yet...;)

Abby'sMom I agree about the internals. It makes me sad to see girls so upset about having no progress when it really doesn't mean anything about when they will have their little ones.

QOTD - Are you having people stay at your house when you are at the hospital/right after you get home?

No way. That is DH and my special time with the baby. I am really nervous about having everyone want to come see her after she is born. I don't think I'll mind short visits though. I like the idea of having a cookout or breakfast or something where everyone can come see the baby and get it over with!

I was having cramping, a backache and contractions every 10 minutes or so two nights ago, so I did what we learned in our Bradley class. (eat something, drink something, take a walk, take a shower/bath, take a nap) We had dinner and I drank a bunch of water. They were still there, so I took the dogs on a nice long walk (and drank some more water). They were stronger then, so I took a nice bath. That calmed them down a little, so I decided to go to bed. I feel asleep, and didn't wake up until 1 am so they must've fizzled out. Last night the cramping and backache came back, but no real contractions and it wasn't as intense.

I hope this little girl decides to make her appearance soon! I am so eager to meet her (and I have been so uncomfortable the last few days!) Three people have told me that she is going to be born on Saturday, so we will see if they are right! I have a midwife appointment this afternoon, so I'll try to update when I get back.

I hope it's ok that I'm posting this here, but I saw in jennylou's LJ this morning that her water broke around 6am and she was heading to the hospital.

Summer ~ Congrats on the progress!

Sherry ~ Maybe Logan's hair will get darker as he gets older....enjoy having the extra help around the house this week!

Kathy ~ Stay off those feet and relax!

Cherish ~ Good luck at your appointment today! And thanks for the nursery compliments :)

QOTD - Are you having people stay at your house when you are at the hospital/right after you get home? Nope. My entire immediate family pretty much lives in town so they don't have to stay at my house. My mom will be sleeping over the first night or two to help out but I don't really consider her a guest.

***
I have my last drs appt tomorrow at noon. I'm really anxious about it. I want to have more progress to help along the induction...and that's another thing. I'm really anxious about whether I'll actually go in on Sunday. For the past few weeks 8/13 has been the light at the end of the tunnel and I can just see the hospital being too busy for an elective induction. I swear, I'll flip out if I have to be rescheduled to later in the week!! Enough is enough!!! And to make matters worse, I'm not really having regular contractions at all (some days I have a few, other days none) which makes me feel like this kid is never coming out :(

QOTD - Are you having people stay at your house when you are at the hospital/right after you get home? Yup, we are. My mom actually asked me if we'd like a day or two to ourselves and I told her (after speaking with Hubby) that we'd like her to stay for a couple of days. After that (or on a weekend since she doesn't get time off), MIL would come down for a day or two. We have no family in town and the closest anyone lives is 2 hours so it's pretty impossible to not have someone stay. I'm fine with it, too. Hubby and I agreed that we'll probably be so tired we'd welcome anyone. Also, I won't feel like I have to entertain her. She can cook and clean.

Welcome Ryan!

Good luck Jennylou!

QOTD - No our family lives within 30 minutes of us. They will be over during the day to help, but at night they will sleep at their own houses. That way we each get a break. We did it like that last time, so should work well again.

My doctor's appointment went well. This week, I am back to measuring small, but they think it is because he is engaged. Had contractions during the appointment, but had no idea. The doctor asked if I felt them. I said not really. BP was good. Lost two pounds. Heartbeat 140.

Better pack my hospital bag.

Babies, babies all around babies! Congrats to JennyLou, Mrstim, Bluhimmy -- I know I'm missing someone and I'm sorry :(

QOTD: Yes, we have my mom staying with us for a week. It has been such a help! My mom is so great. She's not "butting in" with the baby. She's been a tremendous help with our dog (who's used to being an "only child") keeping him exercised and busy. She's also just a help when Reagan is crying in the middle of the night - she'll hold her for an hour or so until she falls asleep so I can get some sleep. Plus, DH has to go to his morning job from about 3 until 8, so I'm by myself. Since I'm on stair restriction it's helpful to have someone here to move Reagan downstairs while I follow just to be on the safe side.

Here are some pictures of our little girl:

first bath at home. She hardly cried at all! DH and I were pleasantly surprised.

My mom holding Reagan and our dog, Zeppelin, checking her out. He was a bit "freaked out" by her at the beginning, but now he's more comfortable sniffing her and checking her out. When she stirs in the PNP, he's the first one over there to check on her.

My appointment went well today.

BP - 110/68
Weight - gained 0 pounds this week - total gain of 33 pounds
Measuring 41 weeks! (Last week I measured 37 weeks.)
Baby's heartrate - 150s
Baby is still head down and is now engaged!

The midwife said that the baby is "a good size". She said that she hopes that I don't go 2 more weeks!

There was a woman in labor at the birth center while we were there today, which was exciting! I think she was pushing when we left! I can't wait until it's our turn! :)

I just saw this under the 39 week summary on BabyCenter (www.babycenter.com):

If you want to receive a congratulatory note from the President on the birth of your child, send the baby's name, address and birthdate (or just a birth announcement, I guess) to White House Greetings Office, Room 39, Washington, D.C. 20500.

Hi all. This thread is getting very exciting! Grant is already 3 wks and 4 days old I can't believe it. His cord finally fell off on Monday so he actually got a real bath the other day. I took pics I'll post a couple when I get a chance to upload them.

summer - your nursery is so beautiful. I know Bean will be happy in there. And what a stack of dipes! but, you'll use them all :D

Sabriel - I was measuring big too, and Reagan "came out" measuring at 40 weeks (even though they told me 44-45). I'm sure your little girl isn't going to be too big.

Amy - we had the same feelings about the hospital bag too. I didn't officially finish it until the night before our c/s.

K&H's mommy - I hope you're feeling better. :)

Babylove - thanks for that info about the President. DH joked that we'd have to get it since her name is Reagan; from one republican to another. I just rolled my eyes (we're a mixed politic marriage)

isaacsmommy - yay for the cord falling off! Reagan's looks so close to falling off. We're just waiting for that day.

PLNUBride - GOOD LUCK!!! :D

*******
We'll be leaving in a few minutes for Reagan's doctor's appointment. I'm excited to see how it goes. We are also ALL OUT OF DIAPERS!!! We have a huge stash of cloth, but we're waiting until her cord falls off to use those. So, we have two newborn diapers left...after the doctor we're going to stop at Wal-Mart and buy some more. We had more than 50 newborn diapers; I guess I (naively) thought they would last longer than they did.

Reagan loves to be held at night - which isn't always the best for mommy and daddy because we really can't fall asleep. I mean, we sort of do, but I always jerk myself awake to make sure I still have her in my arms/boppy. She was "awake" from 3 until 8 this morning. My mom was still here so she took her from about 6:30 until 8 for me so I could get some sleep. DH was able to get a full night's sleep last night so he'll be watching her while I nap this afternoon.

Hopefully we'll have some more babies today!!! :D

My drs appt went well today...still the same, 1+ cm dilated, 80% effaced, 0 station. And no weight gain this week (where are those cookies going??). The dr stripped my membranes and I've been crampy ever since. The best news of all is that my induction is going to begin TOMORROW NIGHT at 8pm!!!! The dr now wants to give me cervadil before the pitocin since I haven't dilated any more, so we are going to start tomorrow night. I'm so excited I can barely stand it!! Cross posted in July thread...

Just wanted to pop in here to announce the arrival of our baby girl, Isabella Grace. She finally decided to grace us with her presence! :)

I will quickly recap our labor & delivery:
I started having contractions Friday the 4th around 5:30am. They were no longer than 6 min. apart but only lasting about 30 seconds long. This went on & on all day Friday & Saturday they became more intense, closer together, & very long, lasting over 90 seconds each. When they got to be 3-4 minutes apart (some lasting 2 1/2 minutes!) we headed in to the hospital which was around 11pm Saturday the 5th. I was 6-7 cm dilated at arrival. I labored throughout the night without medication (our plan - we did the Bradley method classes to prepare) or any other intervention. Several times it was very tempting to ask for something like statedol (sp?) but I didn't amazingly. It was the most pain I have ever experienced in my life! Changing positions often helped & getting in the shower was a life saver... I think I must have gotten in the shower about 10 times throughout the whole weekend. At some point (not sure when b/c I was in so much pain!!) I was checked again & I was a 9. My midwife broke my water to help me progress the last cm & I began pushing at 6am. This was hard work as well but very different from the laboring process. I just couldn't wait for it to all be over!

Finally, after crowning for what seemed like forever, Isabella Grace was born at 8:04am. She surprised us with a full head of black hair (DH & I both have brown & mine is a lighter brown) and a weight of 8 lbs 10 oz!! Everyone had guessed she'd be in the 7 lb range, my midwife guessing 7 1/2 lbs. So this was not expected! She came in at 21 inches in legnth.

I have to say that having a natural childbirth has been one of the most rewarding & empowering experiences. During the labor & delivery I felt like such a wuss b/c it hurt so bad & I just couldn't relax like the Bradley method teaches but I am so happy that I chose to hang in there & see it through. Isabella was bright eyed & so alert when she was born & latched on without any problems just minutes after being laid on my chest.

So after arriving 10 days late, we have definatly been enjoying having Isabella around. She is a pretty good baby & doesn't cry too much. She has some good periods of really being alert which is great.

Here I am getting ready to head for the hospital- I don't look too happy!:

Congrats to LTJC and Leslie! Welcome Daniel and Isabella! All the baby pictures are adorable. :)

*****************************
I had my doctor's appt today. The baby's heart rate dropped and the doc sent me for an NST. I thought it would be a quick thing (DH tried to record the baby's HB on his phone and doc thought that may have caused the audibl interupption). Anyway - it turns out DDs heart rate was dipping with some of my harder contractions. I was at the hospital 5 hours with fetal monitoring, ultrasounds, internals (I'm 2 cm dilated), and they almost did an OCT to determine how DD would react if we upped the intensity of the contractions! However, the doc decided I was already having enough contractions within the specified timeframe so they released me. I do have to go back to the hospital again for another NST tomorrow though. I don't think I'll make it to 8/26.

Gotta go...DD1 needs me...

Reagan had a GREAT doctor's appointment. She's up an ounce and a quarter from her release weight. She didn't cry during the rectal thermometer (mommy couldn't watch!) and was just so mellow during the visit. She loves to sleep in her car seat which is great because we had to stop at Wal-Mart to get dipes. I was nervous bringing her in (so many germs) but we were in and out quickly.

I got about a three hour nap in this afternoon. DH stayed downstairs with Reagan so I could have the bed. My YSIL is staying with us tonight in case I need help tomorrow morning. The help is nice, but I think I'm about ready to give it a go on my own. But, with restrictions on what I can carry I think it's probably a good thing :)

Congrats LTJC! Welcome Daniel!! That was so fast!

Congrats Can't Wait and welcome Isabella! (That was one of my choices for a girl name, by the way. ;) Love it!)

Good luck Tracee! I'm thinking about you!

Well, we went back to the doctor yesterday morning and not only is this kiddo still breech, his bottom is now engaged. So he moved...just not how we wanted him to. We are giving him a couple of more days to turn, but it doesn't look too promising. I go in Monday morning for another u/s and if it is still the same, we are scheduling my c-section for Aug. 21st. I have pretty much accepted that this is the way it is going to happen even though I really wanted a vaginal birth. What is hard is knowing that I won't go through the whole labor and delivery process. DH has been a great support and said that we can try for a VBAC next time and maybe we will have a girl who will cooperate a little more than this little man. :p I am not giving up hope that he will turn around, but with him so low the chances are pretty slim and I needed to come to terms with it all before Monday. Mom reassures me that as soon as he gets here, it won't matter anymore that we didn't have the delivery we wanted - we'll just be happy he is here safe and sound. And I really want what is best for the baby. That is definitely #1 priority. For those of you who have had c-sections, was it easy to "get over it" if it wasn't your first choice for delivery?

isaacsmommy
08-12-2006, 09:33 AM
Congratulations Can't_Wait and LTJC! Welcome Isabella and Daniel.

UTChick- I had to post to you since I have now had two c-sections. I never wanted a c-sec, but I was induced with Isaac (medically necessary- PIH) and failed to dialate well pretty much at all, so I had a c-sec. This time I really wanted to v-bac. However the hospital that would be the least expensive with my insurance wouldn't allow v-bacs so I scheduled a c-sec. My drs said that if I came in in labor and was progressing they would try to avoid the section. However, due to PIH again I had to be delivered early so c-section was my only real choice. Honestly, I really am sad about my birth experiences, but its not something I think about everyday. I think I would feel worse if I felt my c-sections could have been avoided. Yeah I was induced with my first when my body wasn't ready, but with a bp of 210/130 both of our health was in danger so it was for the best. And yes sometimes I am a bit jealous of others who have vaginal births, but also happy that they didn't have to go through a c-section. So with all that said in my experience the c-sec really isn't that bad as far as the actual procedure/recovery, but it was more of an emotional disappointment. I will be hoping that baby somehow flips for you.

duke's flygirl Glad your mom is helping so much!

mrstim Ryan is adorable!

I missed so much yesterday! I started having contractions every 10 minutes at midnight Thursday night. I couldn't sleep through them, so I only got about 1.5 hours of interrupted sleep that night. They got down to every 4 minutes, but they weren't very intense so I went ahead and went to work. They were still going on all day, but were more sporadic and still not too intense. After work, I tried to sleep, but I only got maybe another 1.5 hours because the contractions kept waking me up. Last night I was so exhausted when I went to bed. I told myself that I either needed to have this baby or they needed to stop so that I could get some sleep! I slept well last night and feel better today, but my belly is so sore. I have not had any more contractions today other than my normal BH.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Can't wait to hear about more babies!

UTChick - I was a little sad that I couldn't have a vaginal birth. I mentioned it to DH too; we went through all of those classes and prep work to get us through labor and now we didn't need it. I think the fact that we sort of knew we'd more than likely have a c/s made it easier to accept. My doctor mentioned it around 34 weeks due to my GD. Regan was born at 38 weeks, so we had about a month to think about it.

Everyone is different, but I hope things work out for you. I'm hoping the little man flips around (can happen still!) but if he doesn't it will all be worth it once you get him in your arms. :D

Sabriel - wowzas about the contractions! I give you credit for going to work :)

Just dropping by quickly - I haven't had a chance to catch up. But Congrats to all the other babies born while we were gone.

Can you please update my info:
Elizabeth's middle name is Kemp
Even though my b-day isn't for 8 days, you can change my age to 36 and DH to 34

Here's the "quick" low-down - will hopefully get to my full birthstory soon
I was supposed to be induced on Tuesday, August 8th
At 12:10 am on Monday August 7th my water broke (I think she kicked it. I was in bed and felt a pop, then some moistness. By the time I got to the toilet it was running down my leg).
I called the doctor and they said if I had no contractions, come in at 8 am Monday. Contractions started 30 seconds after I got off the phone. They were immediately 4 minutes apart. No nice easing into labor for me.
Over the next 3 1/2 hours the contractions lasted longer and more intense. So we called the hospital (Okay, I swore at DH to call them). We left the house at 4 am.
I wanted/needed the epidural immediately. I was in so much pain. I was 3-4 cm when I got there.
Once I got the epidural (by 6 am) I was in heaven.
My contractions slowed from every 3-4 minutes, to every 4-5 so they gave me Pitocin.
I was 7 cm by noon, but it took all afternoon to get to 10.
I started pushing around 6:00. I pushed for 2 1/2 hours. I was lousy at pushing - I was so easily distracted. The head just wasn't coming down much, mainly due to her size. So I think in the back of my head I knew I wouldn't be able to deliver her vaginally.
Finally we (with the doctor) decided on a c-section.
She was born at 9:43 pm Monday August 7th weighing 9 lb 3 oz (she got down to 8 10oz and was 8 lb 11oz on discharge)

I am so getting a c-section next time. While the recovery has been long, the fact that I never got to ease into labor and my contractions were pretty insane from the beginning, I can see myself doing a repeat c-section. The need to deliver vaginally is not on my list of things to do.

Feeding - She hasn't been very successful in latching on, but I have been pumping for the last couple of days and we are also supplementing. Now that we are home, we are hoping to work on actual BFing. In MA (or maybe it is just our insurance) we are able to get a prescription for a breast pump fairly easily. So my parents picked up my Pump in Style and it was waiting for me when we got home, which was good because I sware my breasts grew 2 sizes on the drive home!

Tonight should be interesting - we had her in the nursery the 5 nights I was in the hospital - we tried rooming in last night, but sent her at 2 am. I doubt either of us will get much sleep.

I can't wait to catch up on everyone who has given birth in the last week, plus those that are still waiting.

We're home!

I'm about to go back and read, but just wanted to say that everything went very well. Little Miss Nora arrived by vbac. My labor and delivery went very smoothly and I feel incredibly blessed because of it. I'm not sure what was posted, but here are her official stats:

Eleanor (Nora) Grace
EDD: 8/6/06
ADD: 8/10/06
7 lbs, 9oz
20 1/4 inches

In other news:

CocoaFemme asked me to post the news when her little man arrived arrived, and it seems our babies share a birthday, so I wasn't able to post until now. Here are her details:

Dylan Alexander
8/10/06
8:19 am
6lbs, 15 oz
:D

I'll be scarce for a few days as we adjust to life, but congrats to all the new mommies that I've missed and good luck to those still waiting! :D

Jenny--Wow, Congrats on your VBAC and your new little girl.
Jesse—Thanks for the birth story. Your dr. may recommend doing a second c-section anyway. I’m also pumping, hoping to BF.
Leslie—I wasn’t able to use the Bradley method for either of my 2 deliveries (c-sections) but I can’t imagine being able to RELAX during labor. You did just great!
Sabriel—Hang in there. It sounds like your body is really getting ready…but the process is so exhausting.
LTJC—Congratulations to you!
E&O—I think I saw an earlier post…did you have a 35-weeker too? How are you doing?

Welcome, Dylan! Isabella! Eleanor! And all babies!!

And Happy Birthday to some couples who’ve celebrated recently.

Don’t know if I posted, but if you didn’t know, yes, Miriam is HOME. We are having her baptized tomorrow. I'm still working (and will be for some time) on BF; in the meantime I’m using a double-pump. Any support threads for that I wonder?
Hope that the rest of you still waiting will be holding your babies soon.

Jessie~ Love the pics! What a precious little girl!

Chimichanga and isaacsmommy~ Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with me. I really appreciate it.

We are in major cleaning mode at our house this weekend. My swelling has gotten so bad that I can't be up on my feet for too long at a time without them throbbing. My parents insisted on coming over and helping DH with some of our projects yesterday since I couldn't be as helpful as I wanted. We got a lot done yesterday, but still have plenty to do today. I am finishing up my lesson plans for maternity leave today and hope to have them done by noon. The realization that we have 8 more days has set in and we want to get as much done as possible.

Yikes, I've missed so many births! We're ok, but Logan is a pretty fussy guy and big sister isn't having the best time adjusting to her new role, so it's a bit crazy-in-a-not-great-way for now. I know it won't last forever, but i'm just holding things together as best I can. I'll have to come back to do proper congrats to the new moms... hopefully soon....

Last night we had a great night with Reagan. :D Dh was rocking her to sleep while watching the Packers game. I decided to go to sleep since there wasn't much for me to do. That was around 10. She woke up around 1 to nurse then went down until about 4. After she nursed at 4 she was a bit fussy and didn't sleep for longerthan an hour and a half, but by then I felt I had some good sleep. :D She's napping now, I expect she'll wake up within the next half an hour or so. We need to give her a bath.

Yesterday she was alert during the day so I think that made it better for her sleeping last night. I did get to sleep in today until about quarter after 8 (DH gave her a bottle around 6:30 for me) and DH slept until about 10 while I pumped and gave Reagan a snack.

Question for moms who are breastfeeding - does your baby "dribble" milk? When I burp Reagan I notice she has a dribble of milk down her cheek. She might just be a super messy eater. ;)

We survived our first night home...if getting no sleep counts! Elizabeth has her days and nights mixed up. Plus she is wanting to eat ALL the time. I am pumping every 4 hours as we have not been able to get her on the breast. Unfortunately the Avent nipples seem to be too fast for her, so we are actually venturing out to BRU to find some alternatives, even though I can barely walk due to all my swelling.

Tomorrow we have a ped's appt in the morning and I am going to contact the lacation consultant.

The baby blues have also set in some. For the most part things are going really well but the hormones have me crying at times for no reason whatsoever. Hopefully getting out of the house will help some.

Babies all around! :) Yesterday DH says that he really hopes she comes this week. I thought how sweet, until I realized that he had an ulterior motive. He's in some fantasy football draft and the day to draft is on my due date! He's already warned me that he will bring the laptop to the hospital if he has too - LOL! Although, he said, if I'm pushing obviously he won't be drafting anyone during that time. Wow, thanks babe.

Today I woke up and it feels like someone kicked me in the pubic bone. I think her head must have dropped or something because it has never felt like this before and it hurts when I walk or even sit. I can even tell when I'm turning over in bed. My other two never dropped so I don't know what it feels like. Anyone else feel like this? I have my ob appointment tomorrow so I'll see what she says. At my appointment two weeks ago she said the baby was WAY up there so I guess we'll see if there is any change. I've decided that I'd like her to come this weekend, do you think she'll get the email? :p My bestfriends at work work this weekend and then we could be home in time for DD's first day of school next Tuesday.

s/o's as far back as I can see....

chimi - dribbling is fine. Some babies are just complete messes when they eat, LOL! I know with DD we had to have a cloth constantly under her chin when she ate or I would have had to change her every 3 hours!

sherry - I hope it gets better. I am nervous about Kyle's reaction when the baby comes home too. I know it will just take some getting used to. Once they realize they aren't going anywhere hopefully they just get over it and accept it. :p

UTchick - sorry about the swelling. I was like that with DS and it hurt to even squat down because it felt like the skin on my legs were going to split. 8 more days! There is an end in sight! Also, I'm sure you're disappointed that birth isn't going to go as you planned...nothing you can do about those kids who want to come out bootie first though! It's totally out of your control! Plus look at JennyLou - a successful VBAC, so it could happen for you the next time!

Ericka - so glad to see you post and that you are still pregnant! woo hoo!!! :D

TuesdaysChild - ya that Miriam is home! Are you using a pump that you can rent at the hospital? I found that to be so helpful when my son only nursed on one side (for almost a month!) Hope she gets the hang of it soon.

Congrats to Cocoa and welcome Dylan! I can't wait to hear how it all went!

Cam - I've been throwing up my food lately too. Sometimes at restaurants as well. It's getting a little old!

jessey - she's beautiful!!!! Congratulations again!

Sabriel - how frustrating! Hopefully at your next appointment you'll find out that SOMETHING was done down there!

KKAY - hope everything is OK with the baby and no more heartrate dips. Maybe you are having the baby right now?

It's been a rough couple of days since we got home, but here are our birth details...

Kirsten Blythe born 8.09.06 @ 8:36pm
6 lbs 14 oz

I was in labor a little over 14.5 hours and pushed the last 2 hours. I had the best epi and didn't feel much (including the 3rd degree episiotomy). Our baby girl is beautiful and a GREAT nurser. Unfortunately my milk has not come in so feedings are long and frequent. Thanks for all the well wishes!! Welcome to the new babies who have been arriving.

We're back!!! :D

Yes, my labor did NOT go as planned - I was very proud to say that I went all the way to 7 w/o any pain medication! I was on Pitocin, and the contractions were 90 seconds long, 90 seconds apart - so total torture. The worst was when I had to get the epi, and my body apparently deals with that kind of pain by shaking - I had to cling to the bedrails and force myself to be still. I never really got a break from the pain - I got the epi literally 5 minutes before the doctor hollered to get the OR ready, we had to get this baby out! I'll try to get to my birth story soon! We did have some MAJOR problems with the hospital - there were lots of times and things that they dropped the ball, for example the one night when the nurse forgot to bring R to me to feed. Yes - she FORGOT! I woke up an hour after I knew I was supposed to feed him and realized that he wasn't there - so I went running down the hall in my hospital gown, searching for my baby. NOT something I want to go through the night after my c-section! There were other problems too, bad nurses, etc. But I will say that my L&D nurse is now a great family friend - no kidding, I have her # and she wants to get together, plus the first night we had an INCREDIBLE nurse who taught me how to breastfeed, staying with me each time to coach me, etc. She was invaluable!

Ryan is a really, really good baby - so far he only cries if hes hungry, or if you are changing his diaper or clothes. He HATES being exposed! He also puts himself to sleep - something that is quite amazing! Last night I got about 5 hours of sleep, not bad for the first night home!

They were slightly concerned about Ryan being jaundiced, his bili levels were at 10 when we were discharged. We had to be at the peds office this morning to have them checked again - they went ahead and did his first office visit. He was 6lbs 6 oz at birth, 5lbs 15 oz at discharge, and today (only 24 hours after leaving the hospital) he was at 6lbs, 3 oz! My milk came in yesterday, so that helped, I guess! I was surprised that it came in after only 72 hours, too!

Anyway - about his jaundice, the doctor looked at him this morning and said "you know what - I don't even need to do a bili, he looks perfect!" We were so happy!!

The one thing that is rather tough is that R has his nights and days mixed up too! Like today - he slept from 8:00-3:00 this afternoon with only about 45 minutes of awake time, then he was awake for an hour, then slept from 5:00-8:00 tonight. Then, I fed him one one side, he was awake for 30 minutes, and has been sleepign since. I have a feeling he'll be up much of the night, but he's so worth it!

A few pics for ya'll!

Today is DH's b-day, so now he is 35. To celebrate he decided to go 3 hours away to Bayonne, NJ to golf. If I go into labor today, he will miss the entire thing since I am having a c-section. Last time I was at the doctor's, they let me know that if I go into labor before my scheduled c/s date, the baby would be out within 30-60minutes of my arrival at the hospital. I am so upset with him that he went! The worst part is the day. DH, me, and DS are all born on the 14th day of a month. I know it is unlikely, but it freaks me out DS #2 may make his arrival today. Sorry to vent but I am really PO'd!

I had my 38-week appointment today. Everything went fine and I'm a whopping 1cm dilated, up from the barely fingertip at my 36-week appointment. I guess I can't complain too much since I haven't been having a lot of BH and all of the pressure I had yesterday is gone. Ugh. I went in this morning and baby has dropped even more and still hanging out on his bottom. Dr. told me that there are no free ORs until next Thursday and he is afraid to wait that long, especially since I have started to dilate. So...I am scheduled for a c-section Friday morning at 7:30 am! Today was the first day of school for the students and I hated to tell them that I will only be there until Thursday but what can you do? So I am now frantically finishing up my to-do list so we can have a baby this week!!!

it's a bug - congratulations and welcome to Kirsten!

babylove - congrats and welcome to Jacob!

UTChick - wowzas! Good luck on Friday!! :D

Jesseybell - for your Avent bottles, do you have the newborn nipples? Apparently they have different nipples for different ages (with different size openings). We are using the one month nipples but I think they give Reagan too much formula - she dribbles ALL over the place. :D Good luck with the blues; it does get better (although I still have some spells)

Reagan was fussy all morning; I'm so hoping she sleeps well tonight. DH has been such a SAINT! He is taking one of the night feedings and feeding Reagan expressed milk so I can sleep. It's nice ~ I can sleep longer than two hours at a time. DH said he'll take the midnight/1 a.m. feeding for me since he has to get up for his morning job at 3 a.m. When he leaves DD will be about ready for another feeding and I'll just do that one. DH is being so supportive; which is so helpful! He "orders" me to take naps during the day and he'll sit and hold Reagan for hours so she'll stay asleep (and I can sleep longer). He gets his naps in though; don't worry about him. ;)

Still haven't been able to catch up yet! But I see we'll have quite a few more babies before the week is out.

Chimichanga - the avent nipples are newborn/#1 ones - hopefully she'll be able to take them in a little while. But right now we are using the Gerber Nuk newborn ones, which we had in the hospital, and she loves those.

The pediatrician appointment went very well. It wasn't the ped that we interviewed because she is on vacation, but we really liked him and are actually switching to him - he's younger with a 4 and 2 year old himself (the other ped is in her late 40s). We go back on Wednesday for a weight check. He is completely okay with our current feeding plan - pumping and formula, though he did encourage me to call the lacation consultant, which I didn't get around to doing today.

Things are definitely going better. Sure hormones cause me to cry for no apparent reason, but I have actually been able to laugh about it.

My birthday is on Sunday and my parents are coming over to babysit for an hour or so so I can go out and have my margharita! Also, the only thing I have asked for from them are gift cards to clothing stores so I can buy some new things when the time comes.

OK....way too much to respond to right now...but I did want to drop off a quick update:

LILY MORGAN has arrived!!! (Lily is her full, formal name after much thought:))

Date: Aug 11th, 2006
Time: 5:26pm
weight - 8 lbs 2 ozs
length - 19.25 inches

Here is the brief story of how it all happened:)

We arrived at the hospital at 10pm on Thursday night and by 10:35ppm they inserted the cervidel. After about 7 hours (~5:45am), my water broke on its own and at that point, they started me on pitocin. By about 9:30 my contractions were getting closer together and more intense. By about 10:30-11:00am they were coming about every 1:30 minutes and they were excruciatingly painful! Finally, they administered the epidural around 1:30pm when I hit 4cm. They checked me at 5pm and I was 10cm. So, at about 5:08pm I started pushing and 20 minutes later Lily was born!!! My doctor was so excited to see such a quick delivery and so was I!!! So my total labor lasted about 12 hours with active labor being only 4 1/2 hours!! Her Apgar Scores were 9 and then 10!

There was just one minor complication....after about 30 mins of trying to stitch up my 4th degree tear:eek: ...my doctor moved me to the OR to get better light and positioning. So, after another 30 minutes all was well and I was wheeled back to recovery to see Lily and DH.

We were releasaed Sunday to come home....and so far all has been going well

I will come back later with proper SO's and pics once snapfish gets up and running again

PLNUBRIDE - Welcome Lily

amyinlosangeles - Yeah for your induction

Still hanging in here with a lot of pain. K&H's mommy same pain you were experiencing. Every time I get up from bed it hurts so much. I feel lots of pressure down there.
Still going crazy here at home, trying to clean and get everything ready. I know we will have a lot of visitors after the baby is born and I want to have everything super clean.

Congrats and welcome to all of the new babies! Welcome to the world Jacob, Kirsten, Dylan, and Lily.

Amy - how exciting to have an induction date. At least you know you'll be holding your baby soon.

I've been having a lot of contractions, but they keep fizzling out after a few hours. They were every 10 minutes last night (and painful) and then they just stopped. This is completely different than it was with DD1.

Congrats BABYLOVE and welcome Jacob

Congrats and welcome to anyone I may have missed. So many babies arriving!

Amyinlosangeles ~ Congrats on the induction date! Yeah!

UTChick ~ FRIDAY! Wow!

Plnubride ~ Sorry about the tear. Speaking from experience (4th degree tear survivor) it gets better everyday. Make sure you do your Kegels! My doc scared me to death telling me that without kegels I would be in diapers when DS was 18!

Jesseybell ~ Glad you found a ped!

K&H Mommy ~ I feel your pressure pain. I have it too! This am I had a little talk with little man and told him that he was free to just come on out now.

Congrats PLNUBride and welcome Lily Morgan!

Tomorrow DH and I are going to check out a day care center. We originally didn't want to take Reagan to day care, but I think we might need to 1-2 days a week. This place actually lets infants come part time (but has to be regular days) which is a bonus for us. I checked out the internet site and it looks pretty nice. It's through a church (Lutheran) which makes me feel a bit better ~ even though she's going to be baptized Catholic.

Congratulatons BabyLove and Welcome Jacob! (and you thought this day would never come:))

I am going to go back and make sure I have not missed anyone

JenniferH...thanks for the encouragement! All I can say is that giving birth seems like the easy part compared to recovering from the tear! Might be TMI...but going #2 for the 1st time is something that scares me to death!!! I am doing the kegels...but probably not as often as I should.

Chimichanga - Congrats on finding a PT daycare...we struggled with that too so I know the feeling.

UTChick - thanks for the compliment. It was a hard decision for us...I was debating between Lily and Lilia for quite some time. But, when we spent our first night with her in the hospital we called her Lily to sooth her and she responded immediately...somehow we knew that was the name

Now that snapfish is back up.....here are a few pictures of Lily:). Feel free to post a few in the front

PLNUbride - congratulations on Lily! She is adorable! Ouch on the tear! Hopefully you feel better soon!

UTchick - wow Friday! Just a few more days and you'll have your baby!!!!! How exciting!!

Amy - just a couple more days left for you too!! It'll be here before you know it!

I am tired...blah. I should have my car back tomorrow morning - FINALLY. We are so bored being stuck in this house while DH is at work. There are no parks around us right now so if we were to walk it would just be down a street with barely any trees since it's a relatively new neighborhood. So we are stuck here.

Last night I had contractions every 15 minutes for a few hours but today they have fizzled. Everytime I woke up to go to the bathroom I was having one but nothing I couldn't sleep through. They don't really hurt, they are just annoying. I'm not willing to try and of the "natural" remedies so I will just wait and see what happens.

PLNUBRIDE ~ Try to take some tylenol or a percocet prior to #2, then it won't be so bad. Keep the spray bottle handy too. Did they give you a sitz bath to use at home? If not, send someone to the drugstore to get one. It really helped me with the healing process during the first few weeks. Lily is beautiful!

Here we are at almost a week - simply UNBELIEVABLE!! Can't believe at this time last week I was preparing to go in for induction! WOW!

Ryan is doing a great job - he's been cluster feeding every morning from 3-7 and then conking out for 4 hours of sleep! He's actually a really good baby - so far he's only cried if his butt's dirty, he's hungry, or sleepy. I'm adjusting pretty well - I had a breakdown Sunday night, but I think that was totally just exhaustion. I had pushed myself a little too far that day, and now I just realize I HAVE to take it slower.

My recovery is going well - I get my staples out Thursday. Not looking forward to that - I'm scared it's going to hurt! My incision doesn't really hurt that much - it's just a sore feeling when I cough or move wrong.

BF'ing is going WONDERFUL - I'm not engorged that much anymore, and he's eating like a champ. CAn't wait to see what he weighs when we go back to the ped next week!

The only concern I have is one of his eyes is all goopy - like a little "eye booger" and when he wakes up from a nap it's all crusty like. From what I've read it sounds like a clogged tear duct, so I'm softly massaging that side of his nose while he sleeps, but I will mention it to the ped if it doesn't get better!

He's down for his nap, so I'm going to go lay down as well - since DH works night shift, I have night duty all by myself - not exactly fun, but doable. Last night was alright - DH went back to work for the first time. That was tough - we both cried, but it went ok. R woke up to eat at 12:20, 2:20, 4:40, 5:45, and then stayed up, eating at 7:15 and again at 7:30 - then went to sleep and slept until 11:25 this morning! I got a two hour nap - heaven!

Hope all you mommies are doing well and those who are still waiting are doing fine as well!! It's TOTALLY worth it all - can't belive I'm not pregnant anymore - I still rub my tummy and even talked to it at the hospital - everyone got a kick out of that!

Well, I'm back from my doctor's appointment and I have to admit I'm a little disappointed. I'm still the same (1-2cm, 50% effaced). Baby's head is engaged and at a station -3. She said I'm 'ahead of the gang' (yeah doc, I read CC.... I know that's a lie) . I asked what the rotation was for on call doctors and she said it changes daily. She said she's on call on my due date (Labor Day) but doesn't expect me to make it that long. Then she said she didn't have the schedule of who's on call when but to check with the front desk about who's on call this weekend!! I just stared at her. I don't believe I'll go this weekend so why try to get my hopes up?!! She asked if I was ready to have a baby within a week and I told her yes but I wasn't holding my breath. She said she 'may or may not see me next week at my appointment.'

I think she was just blowing smoke up my ass to make me feel better about the swelling and anxiousness. I mean, I've barely made any progress since week 35 (2 weeks). I'm just a little bummed. Some minutes I'm ready to have her, others, I'm not. I know she'll come when she's ready so that's all I'm thinking about.

She did say we could talk induction at 40 weeks. That's not bad. I just don't want to wait until 42 weeks. If I've not had her by my due date, I'll ask for an induction. I'll take the chance.

So, there you have it. My pity party. Blood pressure was good and she said my swelling was minimal although I feel huge. She agreed the baby has dropped. I'm going to sulk on the couch some and read a book. Blah.

cam - I felt the same way with my doc yesterday..."see you Saturday". Sure, I wish. Maybe I'll see her in 4 Saturdays if I keep going at this rate....

Amy - Glad BFing is going well! Oh and I have taken out staples when I was in nursing school and all of the patients have said that it didn't hurt. Take a Tylenol before you go in to help you out a little bit. As for the eye burgers/tear duct, I'm sure that's what it is. Massage some breastmilk in it every few hours. All those antibodies will help it out :-) Warm compresses will help as well.

I've lost some more mucous plug today but who the hell am I kidding...I know that doesn't mean anything, LMAO! I lost it at 35 weeks with DD and had to be induced at 42 weeks.

Chimichanga
08-15-2006, 03:25 PM
Amy - Reagan has the eye crusties too. I wipe them away when I see them. I'll ask the doctor about them too. And the staple removal really doesn't hurt. I worked myself up over it but it wasn't bad at all. One did pinch a bit because it got stuck (sounds worse than it was).

I'm kind of mad... our new SUV's air conditioner isn't working  We went to get DH some new shoes today and I asked him to crank the a/c so the back seat would be cool for Reagan. The stinking thing was blowing hot air. At least it's still under warranty. But now we have to take it in to get it fixed. Which means I'm sort of stuck at home until we get it fixed. We can use DH's car but we prefer to use the SUV.

I'm trying to get myself on a schedule. Reagan woke up at 5 for nursing. I stayed up once she went back down and I showered, picked up our bedroom, started some laundry and dishes. By then she was ready to nurse again. I haven't napped yet, but I'm getting tired now. I think I'll be fine - hopefully I'll fall asleep quickly and hard tonight. DH is still offering to take one of the night feedings from me so that will be good.

I've been meaning to come by and post Tabby's birth story, but my computer has been so limited with juggling two... I'm finally getting to it now. :o

Birth Story is a semi cross post from LJ:
We arrived at L&D at 7:30 am. I got settled and the nurse started me on pitocin around 8:30 am. She had checked me and my cervix had softened, but I was still at 1 cm dilated, same as my last OB check almost a week ago. I actually started to have some steady contractions went we first got there, before the pitocin. I wasn't completely aware they were contractions until I saw them up on the monitor. So much for a r/o knowing what a contraction feels like. But really, these felt different than what I experienced with DS. The contractions felt more like pressure from the baby moving around.

About 2 hours of pitocin, the contractions got stronger, but I was only at 2 cm dilation. The contraction pain progressed and at 12:10 pm, I asked for the epidural. However, even with the epidural, I still felt every contraction that followed. It felt okay, not painful, but still some good pressure. My OB arrived to check on me and found I was at 3 cm. dilation. At that time, she also broke my water, and inserted an internal monitoring probe to monitor my contractions since somehow they were not being picked up externally on the monitors. At this point, I was already having contractions about every 2 minutes.

As my contractions got stronger and stronger, it was getting too difficult to tolerate the pain, even with the epidural. At that point, I asked for the anesthesiologist, but he was in surgery. It was going to be about 30 minutes before he could get to me. Another 20 minutes passed, and my contraction pain got unbearable. They were back to back so I could get a break in between to catch my breath. My nurse came back at that point, and I was already in tears from the pain. She checked me and told me to get ready to push because I was fully dilated. Somehow, to my surprise, I had progressed 6 cm within an hour’s time! I couldn’t believe what I was being told.

Thankfully, the anesthesiologist walked in and gave me another dose, just enough for me to get through. As I was making my first push, my OB walked in. On my second push, you can see the baby’s head, with a full head of hair. And another 2 pushes, baby Tabby was born. I couldn’t believe how fast everything happened. In less than 10 minutes, I was holding my baby girl in my arms. With DS, I labored for over 22 hours with lots of pain and pushed for about 3 hours. With DD, it was a breeze.

This picture was taken when she was a few days old:

I can't believe she's a week today. And today, is actually her EDD day too. :)

Chimichanga I hope you car gets fixed soon.

Camdynlyn Sorry that you are so disappointed, but these babies come when they are ready and not a minute sooner! Also, just because you have not made any more progress doesn't mean a thing about when you will have this baby.

Things are going good here as well. We are still exclusively pumping. After another trip to BRU today, we can start freezing BM. Plus I bought extra supplies to make life easier. Next up is going to be a hands-free bra (or I can create my own). I had to buy more nursing bras - I underestimated how freaking huge my bbs would get! They almost scare me!

DH stayed up all night with DD - well she wasn't up all night. But she did sleep downstairs in the bouncy chair. I was able to be in bed for TEN hours, just getting up once to pump. I didn't sleep the whole time, but I badly needed the rest. I've been pushing myself too hard.

It is fun to still see people's belly shots (I know, all of you are so done being pregnant). I love my DD and am enjoying this next stage of my life (while it can be challenging), but I do have one regret....we didn't get one last belly shot and I never took one last look at my pregnant belly. With labor coming on so quickly and having to run out of the house in the middle of the night and being in so much pain, I never looked at my belly one last time. But now being pregnant seems SO long ago.

chimichanga - no, more car problems for the August thread! We can't catch a break. That's exactly what happened with the air conditioning on my car too - just started blowing hot air. It was the air compressor? Luckily your car is still new so they better fix it!

K&H's Mommy - it sounds like I'm having contractions that are similiar to yours. They are regular, not that strong, and fizzle out after awhile. It's new to me. It wasn't like this with DD1 at all! Hang in there.

Amy - happy to hear things are going well with Ryan. It does sound like a cloggged tear duct. Warm compresses may help.

All the baby pictures are SO adorable. We need to take more.

amyinlosangeles - Good luck tomorrow!

Did I tell of my car trouble as well? I can't remember. The day I went into labor we went to drive my car and the low coolant light came on and inspecting under the hood DH found my oil cap was missing (we had had the car worked on a few weeks ago because I had no A/C as well). (Thank God we found this out BEFORE I went into labor) He got an oil cap the other day. He's going to test it out today. Even though I can't drive until next week, he hates the fact that if I had to drive in an emergency that I would have to drive his car, which is a standard, which would hurt a lot more.

amyinlosangeles Good luck tomorrow!

KKay Yay for being on maternity leave!

babylove Jake is adorable! Glad things are going well!

jennylou Beautiful family picture!

I am still hanging in here too. The dogs got groomed today so they are all clean and ready for their baby sister to get here! ;) I get about 10 calls a day to see if I am in labor yet (4 of them are my mom). It is getting pretty annoying!

I have an appointment with my mw tomorrow. We are going to go to the state fair afterwards. We went after my appointment last week and I felt like *I* was an exhibit. Everyone was staring at the hugely pg lady! LOL, I think I deserve some fair food and maybe all of the walking will bring on labor!

amy - oooooh good luck tomorrow! I'm so jealous of you!!!

sabriel - mmmm fair food. Maybe I'll have DH take me to our state fair this weekend. I did hear about some deep fried krispy creme chicken sandwich that just made me want to vomit. Where do they come up with these concoctions?

kkay - I know it's so frustrating. I'd rather have nothing, then start clock watching and then falling asleep....sigh...

So found out what they thought was the air compressor on my car WASN'T the air compressor. So now they don't know. I thought I'd have my car back tonight but now who knows. I started sobbing when DH told me. I am so sick of being stuck in this house with the kids. I wanted to go shopping and take them to the park and just get out of the house. I'm sure being pg doesn't help with the emotions.

mucous plug - geez, how much IS there anyway? I thought I lost ALL of it this morning. No, just lost twice as much just now. GROSS!!!!! Although not at all blood tinged so I'm guessing there is MORE up there? Ugh....I know I'm a nurse but I do not like mucous/sputum any of that stuff, bleh.

Jenny - love the family picture. Nora has such dark hair!!

Amy - good luck tomorrow! Everything will go great. :)

Last night was a another good night for us. Reagan slept well - we put her down around 10 or so. She got up at 1 to eat ~ DH gave her a bottle so I could get some extra sleep. She slept until about 4 then I got up. I was SO ENGORGED!! I seriously thought my boob was going to explode. Reagan didn't eat nearly enough so I had to take her downstairs so I could pump to get some relief. I napped on the couch (still trying to limit my stairs) and she stayed down until about 8:30. :D I got the nicest nap in.

My sister came up to visit today. She's not much of a baby person, but she did hold Reagan and take a few pictures of her niece. We got out and went for lunch. Not much baby talk which was fine -- I liked the adult interaction. We did see a mother smack her daughter across the mouth and tell her to shut up. I was seriously upset by that -- the little girl was grabbing for her mom's soda (the girl was maybe 2 years old). They were behind me and I didn't want to keep turning around to check it out; my sister saw it all and was shooting them dirty looks.

tonight we're going to check out the day care that we are interested in. I'm hoping they will have an opening for Reagan... crossing my fingers.

Elizabeth didn't do so well at her weight check this morning. She was down 2 oz since Monday, so we have to go back on Monday. We need to feed her more often than we have been, but also need to stop allowing her to feed for an hour (on a 2 oz bottle). The lactation consultant is coming in the morning.

As for my weight, as of this morning I was 23 lbs down from the last time I was weighed - only 7 more to go until I reach my 10 week weight (and then I need to loose a boat load more after that). I do need to start eating more regularly though (ie I ate lunch at 4:30 this afternoon).

I was originally an August 06 mommy but my due date was changed to Sept. 15 so I moved over. They have moved me back to Aug 25- Sep 4. They have scheduled me for induction on Aug. 29 @ 6:00 so I will for sure be an August mommy. I am dilated to a 1+, 70% and baby is at -2 station. We are pretty sure I had a small leak this morning around 2 that sealed back. I'm really hoping for a baby soon!!

Congrats to all the new mommy's!! Your babies are all beautiful!!!!!

I know some of you are getting tired in the final stretch, and I can sooooooooooo understand. Being 4 days late, I was soooooo over being pregnant. But, I have to say, that because I sort of let things just happen (besides the natural things like walking, spicy foods, pineapple, etc), I really think that directly resulted in my quick and easy birth. So, hang in there. Remember, you can dilate so quickly. On Wednesday night I went to the hospital in the early evening. They said I was only 1, going on a 2 (Dr's visit the prior Friday said 2-3!). Anyways, the contractions got really strong about 2 am. At 6 am, my water broke. And I had Nora at 1:26 pm. To me that was sooooo quick. I'd been in labor (water breaking) since 4 am with Andrew and finally had a c/s at 8:23 pm....a really long day. So, your body may progress very quickly once it gets started.

Nora's birth weight was 7 lb 9oz. Saturday morning (like midnight) she was weighed at 7 lb 1 oz. Monday I went to a breast feeding support group. The hospital puts this on and even has lactation consultants on staff (2 of them) that are free for our use! At Monday's group, she was down to 6 lb 12 oz. I'm happy to report that I went to the other support group (they have one morning and one evening one per week) last night and Nora had gained 6 oz in 2 days, bringing her up to 7 lb 2 oz! Go mommas milk! :)

As for Nora and her hair, I was born with dark hair like her, while her daddy was born with much lighter hair. She looks very similiar to her brother, though not exact.

Have a great day everyone! And I think good luck is in order to Amy on her induction today.

In regards to the baby's weight - we were told as long as she didn't lose 10% of her birth weight, she was okay. So, for us, if Reagan dropped to 7 pounds some odd ounces they would have been concerned. fortunately for us she's a champion eater (she collapsed two nipples while eating formula in the nursery).

This morning has been trying. She's not stayed asleep for more than an hour and she's been a major snacker - eating for 10-15 minutes, falling asleep, waking up 20-30 minutes later hungry. It's exhausting! DH just fed her a bottle for me at 9 (I had just pumped) and she's been down since 9:30 (30 minutes). We'll see if she stays alseep.

I don't think she likes the bassinet. She loves the PNP (we put her in it when we're downstairs) and sleeps like crazy in the PnP. The bassinet not so much. I think we might move her to her crib soon.

The appointment with the LC went well. Elizabeth nursed on one side and got 3.5 oz.(and I leaked all over the couch on the other side!). Her weight was up 1 oz from yesterday, which is what it should be. Turns out we just weren't feeding her enough :( We were only giving her 2 oz a feeding when she really should get 3 oz to get in enough in 24 hours. The LC also noticed that the thing under her tongue is too close to the end of her tongue and needs to be clipped. A friend of mine's kid had that done. So we'll bring it up with the pediatrician on Monday. The LC was amazed she was nursing as well as she was with it like that. Plus she was amazed by my milk production (3-4 oz per side every time I pump (every 4-5 hours)

Still not sure where we are going to go with the BFing vs. pumping. It was neat to do it, but I'd still be pumping quite a bit, so who knows.

Hopefully with our new instructions of 3 oz every 3 hours we can start to work on a better schedule. DH has been bringing her to sleep after feeding her between 2 and 3 am, but obviously that won't work when he goes back to work.

We didn't get around to her first bath (outside the hospital) yesterday so it's on the agenda for today.

I am horrible at swaddling with regular blankets, so I ordered 2 miracle blankets (http://www.miracleblanket.com/) and they came today. Can't wait to try them out.

Thinking of Amy! Cant wait to hear any news.

Jesseybell- My tongue was tied too. I can't remember right now what that piece is called. Anyway, normally they clip that as a baby/kid if it is severe enough because for one it is difficult for babies to latch properly if breastfeeding and two it can cause speech problems. I however didn't have mine clipped when I was little. I don't think they noticed it until much later with me (I was ff) and since I was already talking without problems they left it. Then when I was about twelve I accidently tore it one day (Ouch  ) so they went ahead and clipped it then. It was easy, they put a liquid numbing agent under my toungue and then with scissors they cut it. I do remember it bleeding a lot though and me drooling it everywhere because I couldn't feel anything . I wish they had did it when I was smaller though because I had to go twelve years not even being able to lift my tongue to the top of my mouth not to mention being able to stick it out at people :p :D . (Sorry I wrote so dang much)

Jennylou- Congrats on your v-bac again!!! You had the delivery I only can dream of.

cjone15- Welcome!

UTChick- Omg!! That is so soon. Good Luck!

Camdynlyn- Cute belly! Just to make you feel better- I'd take those little stretch marks you have over mine any day. I have them on my belly this time (not to mention everywhere else) :( .

Well I know I missed people (sorry) but I gotta get my butt in gear and do some cleaning before DH and Isaac get home. Oh yeah Grant's u/s went okay yesterday, but I won't actually know results till tomarrow *crossing fingers*.

Jesseybell - glad to hear feeding is going better. :)

Reagan's weight check went GREAT! She's up to 8 pounds 10 and a half ounces - up almost 7 ounces from last week Friday. She's a little piggie!! :D So, she's above her birth weight in less than two weeks.

Pumping is going okay; I usually only get 3-4 ounces total when I pump after Reagan eats. We've got our stash of 4 bottles in the fridge and I've got about 10 bags stored in the freezer.

We signed up for daycare today. She'll be going one day a week on Mondays. I actually got a surprise today. OSIL said she was planning to go PT at work around Christmas. She offered to watch Reagan (for free) if it worked with her schedule. Finally - DH's family is offering to help out!!

jesseybell Glad the LC was able to help you out!

jennylou It really helps to read your words as I am waiting for this little girl to come on her own! I hope my labor and delivery go as smoothly as yours did!

UTChick Good luck tomorrow!

Camdynlyn Great belly shots!

I had an appointment with my midwife today. Everything looks good, we are just waiting for this little girl to get ready!

Baby's heartrate: 150s
BP: 110/68
Weight: Up 3 pounds from last week. Total weight gain of 36 pounds.
I'm measuring 40 weeks. (Last week was I was 41, but she has dropped.)
The midwife said she is *really* low!

I finally gave her my birth plan and she had no problems with it. She said that I am the next of her mom's that is due. She also said that there is no one else wanting a birth center birth due coming up, so no worries about having someone else there while we are having our baby.

After the appointment we went to the state fair. We ate some yummy food and then walked a lot to try to get this baby to move out! :D

Thanks for sharing your experience, Jennylou!
Today I'm feeling guilty about working next week. I can make my last day Wednesday or Friday, but I'd pretty much decided on Friday so I won't be forced to come back to work on Christmas- which could happen! (I have exactly 4 months off.) I just feel like I would kick myself in December if I couldn't spend that time with the baby and our family. So I'm going to try to work until the 25th. That way my maternity leave starts on the
28th- Monday.
Are any other August mommies still at work?

Had my second to last doctor's appointment yesterday. DH went with me, which he rarely does do to his work schedule. We waited almost a hour to see the doctor. Everytime he goes with me, we wait so long. I go by myself. In and out in 20 minutes!

Baby's heartrate: 140s
BP: 110/70
Weight: Up 3 pounds from last week. (just like Sabriel)
Measuring right on target.

We talked about what to do if I go into labor prior to my scheduled c/s. Head is very low and engaged. I have a hair apppointment on Saturday morning, so Cohen needs to stay put until then. My roots are terrible!

I can't believe today is my due date and I'm already a mommy! I wish I could come around here more often but there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. I hope all the new mommies are doing well and the soon-to-be mommies are hanging in there...it's sooooooooooo worth the wait!!!!

Jake is doing so well. He certainly has his days and nights confused but that's to be expected, I guess. He sleeps like a log between feedings during the day, and from midnight to 6 am he's a party animal. Thankfully, my mom has been here every night to entertain him between feedings during the night. Starting Sunday, we are having a baby nurse for 9pm to 6am for a week, courtesy of my in-laws. At first I was opposed but now that the lack of sleep is setting in, I think it will be a nice treat. But overall, Jake is a very content, mellow baby and we just love him to pieces, naturally :D

My milk came in yesterday and .... holy moly! I look like Pam Anderson! And I weighed myself for the first time yesterday and I'm already down 15 lbs!!

Uh oh, I hear someone stirring...

Thinking of Amy today...I can't wait to hear the news of Ava's arrival!!!!

Congratulations to all the new Mommies! I can't see far enough back for individual SO's sorry.

Sorry I haven't been able to get in here much, but it is really amazing how quickly the days go with 2 kids, even with the help of my mom and my DH!

We went for Liam's 2 week check-up yesterday and he is now up to 8lbs 12 oz. He gained a whole pound in 9 days! I can't believe it! My doctor told me that I was making cream!

Things seem to be getting into somewhat of a routine. I just feel very lucky that I have my DH with me until the 19th of September. By then I will be able to pick up my DD and drive myself around.

While at the doctor's yesterday I scheduled my 6 week PP check, Liam's 2 month visit and Ryleigh's 2 year visit! That means one apointment each month for the next 3!

I weighed myself yesterday and am down 30 pounds! I still have quite a few more to go, but I feel so much better! Gotta love the BFING!

I have Liam's whole birth story in my LJ but here is the short version:

3 August 2006

0500 Got up and showered

0530 Left the house for the last time pregnant

0615 Arrived at the Admissions

0630 Arrived in the Birthing Unit, and settled into the same day admitting room to wait for the change of shift and the L&D nurse to arrive

0700 Our nurse Melissa got there, and we started to get ready for the OR, blood drawn, and into my hospital gown. Denis got into his scrub jumpsuit too

0730 Got into the OR, met with the anesthesiologist, got my IV and spinal, that was very different from the epidural, VERY fast acting, and kind of funny feeling too.

0804 They first cut into my belly. They did remove my old scar, they joked about it being free plastic surgery!

0823 Liam was born! 7lbs 12.5oz, 21 inches long APGARS of 9 and 9. Red Hair and DARK blue eyes! I cried when he did, and it was just amazing to watch Denis follow him around the OR, and take pictures, and cut the cord. He really didn’t feel like he could with Ryleigh due to the trauma we had had with her delivery.

0910 Arrived in recovery and Liam nursed for the first time, he latched on well, and nursed for almost 30 minutes!

1100 We were sent up to the ward since there were no private rooms ready, the L&D had been VERY busy for the whole month of July.

1200 Denis left to go to the ship to tell the boys about his son’s arrival, and then home to get R after her nap.

1430 I got moved into a private room, and I walked there! I was finally able to make phone calls since the phone was turned on, then I tried to rest before Denis arrived with Ryleigh and Dakota.

1530 Denis arrived with Ryleigh and Dakota. Ryleigh wasn’t too sure about Liam, but gave him kisses and was very happy to see Mommy! She wanted to get up on the bed with me. She also wasn’t too sure about my IV and catheter.

1830 Denis, Ryleigh and Dakota left for home to get Ryleigh bathed and to bed on time so as not to interrupt her schedule!

1900 Teri stopped in to meet Liam and visited for about an hour.

Liam and I had a long night, he was up eating a lot, the nurse called it cluster feeding!

All in all the birth experience the second time was 180 degrees different than with Ryleigh. There was no additional stress other than that of wanting a healthy baby, with no complications. We are adjusting to being at home and being a family of 4 now. I’m so nervous about Denis going back to work, but Liam will be just over 6 weeks old then, and it should be all good.

My mother is here with us until Sunday, and we are very lucky that she is so good with Ryleigh, and that Ryleigh seems to love “Gamma!” She has been a cooking/laundry and playing machine!

Breastfeeding the second time around has been completely different, he latched on so soon after birth, and he hasn’t looked back at all! He got my milk to come in on day 2, and he has grown like a weed ever since. I’m not going to talk about sleeping at all so as I don’t jinx what we have been experiencing, I know that it can still change. He has been so much more alert than I remember Ryleigh being at this point. But perhaps it could be the fact that Ryleigh’s birth was so traumatic for all of us, and this one was more normal.

I love my little man more and more each day, and I can’t wait to watch him grow and develop the way that I have watched Ryleigh. She still has a long way to go yet, but I love the little person she is now!

Good Luck to all those who are still waiting for your babies to arrive, the wait is TOTALLY worth it! To all those holding their babies, enjoy this time when they are small, they grow up so quickly!

I am trying to read as often as I can!

Take care!

9 days and growing!

We're doing well! I had the baby blues hit in FULL force the last few days - more about that in my journal. Remember I do nights completely by myself as DH is on night shift. I had my mom come and stay one night with me b/c I was freaked out completely. That helped a lot!

As for my Weight when I left the hospital I was down 10 pounds. My milk came in that afternoon (last saturday) and total now I'm down 23 pounds! I gained 35 total so I'm only 12 away from my pre-pg weight. We'll see how low it goes before stalling, I'm sure!!

We're going out for the first time besides church and the doctor's office, I desperatly need groceries and to pick up a few tops for me, I'm not engorged anymore, but I have grown in the boob areas! None of my old tops button! aCK!

Anyway, hope all the moms are doing well, I need to do SO's, but my little man is letting me know his displeasure with the swing! He tolerates it for oh, 10 minutes and that's it!

For the record - no matter what I do, he's a side sleepr! I normally swaddle, but this was this morning after we woke up and I just put him down for another 1/2 hour.

I am also still working. But probably only until next Friday. Since I work from home, its not that bad but everyone is in panic mode since I am getting close to leave. I get all these random questions from my boss. He has never been without me for more than 2 weeks. Hopefully he appreciates me more with these months gone.

I had my appointment yesterday and seems everything is still the same. Only 1 cm. I need to walk more. Yesterday I went to the mall and walked a lot but since her head is low I feel lots of pressure and its painful to walk.

Love reading everyone's birth stories and seeing all the baby pictures. Please continue to share. Also, give us any tips on BF.
