Cosmic - Kai is beautiful!
Congrats Summer! Can't wait for you to be back and post pics of your baby girl.
dandygirl - We never bought a white noise machine. I've read that by setting the radio in between station for the static sounds, it'll work to soothe too. You can save your money too.
Welcome craftgenius.

dandygirl ~ I didn't buy a white noise machine but we were given a GREAT CD of white noise type sounds that we play for DS on our iPod w/ speakers. It's called For Crying Out Loud and has 9 (I think) different sounds including hair dryer, vacuum cleaner, restaurant ambiance, maternal heartbeat, rain, ocean waves, etc. DS *loves* it!

Just a quickie note....
we welcomed Allison Elise on Saturday the 2nd at 3:07am. She was 8 pounds, 9 ounces and 20 " long. Just got home a few minutes ago and mommy is about to take a shower! Labor was fast and completely natural - AUGH!!!! Hope you all are doing well and will come back with a birth story and pictures soon!

white noise - we have that noise machine. We've only used the heartbeat. We also have a CD but haven't used it yet.
exclusively pumping - I am. We tried BFing in the hospital and had a LC come out to the house. While I could get her to latch on, ultimately I decided that the best thing for our family was for me to pump. Right now I am getting about 27 oz a day (down some from the first week but I am working to increase it again). I already have a pretty huge stash.
Congrats K&HsMommy and Welcome Allison Elise!
We go back to the pediatrician on Tuesday for a weight check. Hopefully he's measure her as well. I am hoping that he is okay with her going 5-5 1/2 hours at night - its been such a blessing! I'll take the every 2 hours feeding in the evening to get some sleep at night.
We got to experience our first 'change-her-in-the-bathroom' today at BRU - Thankfully my MIL was there to help.
I had to buy her some clothes - she didn't have enough newborn clothes, especially ones for cooler weather. She has a ton of 0-3 months and 3 months clothes but they are big.
I bought her halloween costume last night. She is going to be a Red Hot Chili Pepper from babystyle. Daddy has been growing Red Hot Chili Peppers this summer, so it just seemed appropriate. Her second day of daycare will be Halloween so I figure she will need something.

Congrats Cosmic and Welcome Kai!
Congrats Summer and Welcome Bean!
Congrats craftgenius and Welcome Claire!
Congrats Sara and Welcome Allison!
I was just coming in to post about her arrival! But you beat me to it! Can 't wait to see pictures!
Liam is One Month old today and we celebrated by going to the Provincial Wildlife Park this afternoon. It was a lot of fun, but of course I forgot the camera!
We are doing pretty well, but if he isn't sleeping(which is rare), or eating he is crying with very few periods of alert and quiet time! So we are all tired, but I know that this time is short lived, and it will pass!
BFing: My milk came in this time on Day 2! But I think it had something to do with the fact that I only stopped nursing DD at the end of January, so there wasn't much of a time gap! I was really surprised, but Liam did clusterfeed the whole first day. I do have a very sore right nipple, but I think we may be battling thrush, but I am going to give it a couple more days to see if it is or if he is just nipple climbing.
Diaper Rash: He has had one already too, and we are using Penaten cream on it, and I don't use wipes, only warm water and cloths. I learned this with my DD, they both have very sensitive skin.
Baby Acne: Liam has it too, I really hope it clears up soon!
Screaming baby, I'll try to BBSoon!
I think all our babies have arrived now!

First, let me say:
Congrats Cosmic and hello Kai!
Congrats Summer and hello Bean!
Congrats Sara and hello Allison!
-------------------------------------
I wanted to pop in before my next "nap" and let everyone know that Sophie and I are home from the hospital. We got home yesterday afternoon. All you who are BFing know what I'm talking about by "nap." LOL! Thank you all for the warm good lucks and best wishes and welcomes to Sophie. She was born on 8/30 at 5:29 pm. She weighed 6 lbs 12 oz and was 20.5 in long. I know that is posted, but just wanted to repeat it because it's fun! :)
I have some pictures to post, but thought I'd quickly say that I was induced at 12 pm because I wasn't feeling movement from her. Her heartbeat was fine but dr. didn't want to risk anything. Since I was already dilated nearly 4 cms, fully effaced, full term, and having contractions (per the fetal monitor), dr. decided to induce. Labor was quick and I can't complain. I had Sophie after about 20 mins of pushing. 30 mins if you count the 10 mins I was ordered by the nurses to stop pushing because they were worried I'd have Sophie before the dr. got there. Anyway, pitocin made my contractions crazy intense immediately. WOW! I really did think I might pass out when the monitor showed my contractions at the highest level on the chart and there was no relief in between contractions. All you ladies who give birth au naturale are brave and good for you!! After 2 hrs, I got my epidural and life was great ... but nothing compared to the moment I saw Sophie. Anyway, here are some pictures right after giving birth when Sophie is just a few minutes old ... welcome Sophie! :)

Summer pushed for 28 minutes and baby bean was brought into this world. She is perfect. Not sure who she looks like, but she is a beautiful girl. Mom and Dad are both doing really well and expect to head home tomorrow around noon.

Congrats Summer and , Craftgenius and Claire and Sara and Allison
Whitenoise - we aren't using any. Reagan seems to be doing just fine without it. We do, however have a few Little Einstein CDs and one my parents had made with Reagan's name in it. I play them every now and then, but usually Reagan just conks out so CDs are sort of silly since she's either wide awake or out.
Reagan was fussy last night again. I think she just likes to stay awake longer and longer. She decided to feed for about 3 hours  and we finally gave her a bottle around 9:30 to get her to sleep. She did sleep for about 4.5 hours before she got up. She's getting into a routine which is nice. The exact times are always a bit different, but it's all in the same general time.
I can't believe Reagan is one month today! amazing.... we're going for her professional one month photos on Wednesday. Oh, and DH found his first gray hair (hee hee hee). My dad always said girls give you gray hair. ;)

Thank you all for the well wishes and congrats to those of you who have had your babies too! Since my mom has DD and the ILs have DS and the new little one is sleeping I whipped up a quick birth story since tomorrow we will be crazy again!
Thursday night/Friday morning - woke up at around 3am with contractions. They definitely felt different than the braxton hicks I had been having for weeks. I could feel an "ouch" type of pressure that wasn't there before. They were every 7 minutes for about 4 hours and then when I got up they went away, but I just had a feeling. I told DH not to go too far today! I went in for my non-stress test and only had one contraction in 45 minutes. We took DD and dropped her off at her Dad's and then went to mexican food. Got home and I took a shower (just in case) and then DH and I sat down to watch a movie. Immediately the contractions started every 5-7 minutes and didn't let up. But again, they didn't hurt, they were just "there". Finally DH said "let's call my sister". We did and she came over to stay the night with DS and we headed to the hospital. Got to the hospital at about 11pm and they monitored me for about an hour and at midnight checked me. I was praying that they would keep me because the contractions didn't hurt but I was hoping they were doing something! The doctor says "wow, you're not even breaking a sweat and you're 6cm!" WOW!! We were shocked so I was admitted.
Got admitted to the room and called my friend who was working that night and her and another friend came to visit. They couldn't believe how I was in no pain and just joking around and hanging out. No one could, not even me! The L&D nurse asked if I wanted an epidural and I said no because I wasn't in any pain. At about 2:00am the doctor checked me again and I was 8+cm so she broke my water. Again, no real pain. A couple contractions hurt but nothing major. So then at about 2:45 I said something to the nurse about worrying that I wouldn't progress because it didn't hurt. At this point, I wasn't on any pitocin, nothing - just some fluids because I was a little dehydrated. She said "maybe try laying on your side and getting in a different position, sometimes that helps move the baby down". I decided to lay on my side and that's when all hell broke loose!
As soon as I laid on my side I had a huge contraction and the worst pain of my life and the urge to push. I sorta panicked and told Brad to get the nurse in there now and I was gripping the bedrails. I was just shocked because one minute ago I was laughing watching some stupid TV show and saying that this was cake. Nurse comes in and checks me and I'm 10cm and the head is right there so they wheel me to the delivery room. I am seriously panicking because now I am begging for medication and they are telling me that it's too late. Get into the delivery room and they have me practice pushing and it really hurt but then the nurse tells them to hurry and get the doctor in there because the baby was right there.
Doctor comes in and I am just seriously dying. My poor husband would rub my head or leg and I was like "don't touch me". Then I wanted to hold the bed handrails to push and the nurse wanted me to hold my legs and that frustrated me. I didn't open my eyes for about 10 minutes. In between contractions I would wipe the tears off my face and curse about my mascara running and how pictures were going to be awful, ha ha (priorities). I seriously thought I was losing it and not going to be able to do it.
Obviously I did and I pushed her out in about 10 minutes. It was definitely surreal to feel every single part of her as it was coming out. SUCH a relief when her whole body came out, I actually said "oh thank GOD" ...ha ha. Everyone said I was so controlled and did so great but I didn't feel like that. I think because I was in pain and knew that I couldn't do anything about it I felt sort of out of control. But no tears, no problems, everything is great so now I'm happy about it!
We are doing great, she is the best breastfeeder every! My milk started coming in at about 12 hours so she has been a happy camper. She is just gorgeous, we are so in love. Last night was a little rough because she would not sleep unless she was right next to us...hopefully that will change in the next few days because I do not sleep well with her right there!

Sorry to be MIA. I just got home from the hospital. Had my c-section on Monday. Cohen Lee was born at 805 and was 6lbs 5oz. Everything was great until I got this mysterious fever. I was not allowed to leave the hospital until my temperature was below 100 degrees for 48 hours. Everytime I got close, my fever spiked again. No reason why I had the fever. The labs were negative for everything they tested.
Glad to be home. Caden loves his little brother. When Cohen wakes up he runs to me to tell me it is "Time to eat!" He told my mom that Cohen eats my boobies! Will write more later.
Isaacsmommy ~ Sorry for not getting in touch with you, but I entered your phone number into my cell wrong and kept getting a weird message.
Quickie post before I play with DD1...
Lauren Kay was born 8/27 by emergency C-section. She was 7 pounds 2 ounces and 20.5 inches. She is an absolute angel. :) This birth/recovery has been more difficult than the first due to the C-section. Lauren was face forward and sideways - it wasn't worth the risk to push. I'm just happy she's okay.
Welcome to all the new babies and congrats to all the mommies!!

Congrats to the new moms and babies! Sara, you go girl on the short L&D. I remember you were in labor for ages with Kyle! And Jennifer, how weird about the fever. Glad you're ok.
White noise - Logan loves the sound the vacuum cleaner. I'm tempted to go buy a CD of JUST vacuum noises.
Logan is 5 weeks old today! I'm really hoping that the Zantac plus the magic 6w mark next Monday will mean his fussies (well, screamies) will die down some. He's been better since starting Zantac, but he's still a challenging baby who likes to be held as much as possible, which is really really hard with DD at home too.

I'm sure it's all posted here somewhere but Mia Lynn was born on September 2, 2006, at 9:28pm. She's 8 pounds, 2 ounces and 20 3/4 inches long. I will post ALL the details when I get a chance but I'm sure Dorothy posted some.
Labor was pretty easy. Labored actively for 9 hours, pushed for 28 minutes. I have a really small tear and a hemmeroid (TMI) but not really hurting much. Pushing was done in the most relaxing environment and I can't wait to share all the details.
She's been WONDERFUL! Last night, we had a really rough night when she ate for 30 minutes on each side and was still hungry. I called a nurse to get a pump because I was so sore on my left side. I pumped a tad (enough to give some through a suringe to her). They told me that was really rare to be able to do that when she's less than 2 days old.
I'm still having a really hard time because of the soreness. She's a champion eater (meaning, she's got a suck to match the Jaws of Life!!). She'll hurt when she sucks on my fingers. MIL, SMIL and Steffie went to Target a bit ago and bought me a pump. They got me a Pump in Style and I'll be able to use the extra bottles and such from the hospital. Hosptial also gave me a manual that I managed to pump some from a bit ago (which I was highly proud of myself for).
My mom got back up here today and will stay through most of the week. MIL, FIL, and SMIL are all leaving tonight and cooked roast and veggies for tonight, cleaned the house (althoug cleaning lady just came), washed and folded ALL clothes, went grocery shopping and made some food (brownies, pasta, etc) for us to have on hand. YAY!!
My first time holding her.. 30 minutes after delivery. Surprisingly, I felt great!

Breastfeeding has not been easy for me. I was not producing much milk and had to supplement with formula but then my SIL recommended the following:

Now I have plenty of milk. I even have enough in the fridge. This tea really works. Highly recommend it.

Welcome Cohen! Congrats JenniferH!
Welcome Lauren! Congrats KKay!
Welcome Mia! Congrats Summer!
Liam was diagnosed with Reflux or GERD yesterday, so he is now on baby Zantac, and so far he is doing better, but still not sleeping a lot during the day, and when he does sleep it is on me! UGH! Before now if he wasn't on the boob, or sleeping on me, he was SCREAMING, so we know he was in pain. I just hope that it kicks in soon all the way! LOL! The doc said it could take up to 72hours to be fully active.
Sorry I haven't been around much, but we have been busy.
I can't believe that Liam is 1 month old, and will be 5 weeks old tomorrow. While at the doc's yesterday we had him weighed, and he is now 10lbs 13oz, up 3lbs 1oz since birth! It is just insane to think about that! But I think that he was overeating to compensate for the reflux too, Mother's milk acts as an antacid, so they want to suck more, or they don't want to suck at all. Of course I have the one who wants to ALWAYS eat. But today has been better already.
We went to the Wildlife park here on Sunday, and it was a lot of fun, Ryleigh LOVED the animals and Liam slept in the Bjorn!
I hope everyone is doing well with their little ones!

Welcome Kai, Claire, Allison, Mia Lynn, and Lauren! Sorry if I missed anyone.
Dukesflygirl ~ Hopefully Liam feels better soon.
Breastfeeding ~ Going well. Cohen gaining lots of weight. I bottle feed my first son so this is a whole new experieince for me. I sort of feel more alone in a way since everything seems more dependent on me.
We had Cohen's first doctor's appointment today. He went from 5lbs 15oz to 6lbs 14 oz in 4 days! He was only suppose to gain 3/4 oz per day. Everything looks great. He no longer has jaundice.

Quick question...
I am 12 days postpartum and have been feeling sore and a little painful "down there" for the last couple of days. I had a couple of small tears on each side and have a few stitches in each tear. I guess I am just wondering if this is normal, because except for the first couple of days I haven't had any real pain/discomfort up until now. I was supposed to have a 2 week recheck with my midwife, but they couldn't get me in until next Thursday (which will be 3 weeks pp). Anyhow, I was just wondering if I should call her tomorrow or if what I am experiencing is normal healing?

Cherish, I'm 5w 2d PP and had a 2nd degree tear. I felt a little tenderness up until last week. I'm not sure if it's still a tiny bit tender because I'm afraid to touch it on purpose. :o

Anyone else deal with a baby that can not be put down??? We are constantly holding little miss spoiled pants. I can't get anything done it seems. She knows instantly when we try to lay her down even though she's dead asleep. We are cobedding which I was not (and still not) interested in because that's the only way we can get any sort of sleep. As of right now she's not interested in the swing, bouncie chair or the sling that I bought. Just wondering what the rest of you are doing if you have this sort of kiddo? My other two could be put anywhere and be totally happy so I'm clueless about this one....
So are all of our babies here yet????

Love the pic, Sara! She looks so teeny... :)
Logan is a fusspot in general, but he really doesn't like being put down, either. I'm also not happy with the concept of co-sleeping, but have been doing it because he pitches enormous (and I mean full-on screaming) fits when we try to put him back down after he eats. UGH! So he sleeps in his carseat from bedtime (usually around 10) until his first meal ~ 1:30 or 2 AM. From then on, I just keep him next to me in bed to keep some peace.
I'm down to eating pretty much nothing, because it seems like EVERYthing I enjoy upsets his tummy. My hope is that he'll grow out of at least some of it soon. Either that or I'll lose an extra 20 lbs (which really would not be good).
cocoa and cosmic, I used Mother's Milk Tea with DD and it worked ok (also used Fenugreek, which worked better than the tea for me). I got mine at the grocery store in the health foods aisle, but I saw it this weekend in the cereal aisle with the regular old teas.
Congrats to KKay and Jennifer!

Cherish ~ I noticed that I felt sore sort of all of a sudden after not having too much pain or discomfort. I think it's normal. You will also itch "down there" as the stitches heal. Fun stuff ;)
Sara ~ Oh yes, Jake is the same way. There are certain times of the day when only someone's arms (usually mine!) will do...I'm a firm believer that anything that you do in these first weeks/months can be undone so bad habits won't form. Do what works, you know? I'm not a fan of co-sleeping AT ALL but it seems that we do it too from time to time just so we can all get some shut eye. She is so adorable BTW!
Sherry ~ I'm so sorry that Logan is so sensitive to what you eat! Hey, maybe it will help you with the pgcy weight loss?
***
Jake seems to have settled into somewhat of a routine in the last few days. He naps after both morning feedings (yay!) and in the evening he cries pretty much non-stop unless I am holding/bouncing/walking him or feeding him. Until now, he's been generally pretty content all the time but for the past few nights he's been very fussy from around 5-9....right when DH gets home. I feel bad for him (DH). Oh well...this too shall pass.

Oh, do I feel for ya! This has been our little one for four weeks now. It's tiring. We have a co-sleeper, but don't even get to always use it - sometimes we can slide her over into it without her realizing, but more often than not, she wakes up and just wants to be next to momma. We have the papasan swing (got it last week) and she does seem to like it some....but she doesn't take to it all the time. The sling sometimes works, but she gets hot in it after a while so we don't use it for long periods of time. Nothing gets done here....unless DH stays home in the evenings (we have a small business on top of him working full time, which means he also works in the evenings), other than that....the dishes pile up, the house needs vacuumed, etc.
Nora is up to 9lb 2.6oz as of today (birth weight 7.9, dropped to 6.12) and she'll be 4w tomorrow.
My sister was out this last weekend and did a little photo shoot. I still haven't seen all the pics, but here's one. Nora was 3weeks, 2 days old.

K&H's Mommy - Reagan has the same outfit :D She's usually pretty good during the day about being put down. After about 4 is a different story. But she does sleep well in her swing/bassinet so we can deal with about 6 hours of fussies. Although, she has a knack for waking up right during dinner.
Abby'smom - same here! Reagan does not like crab rangoon or guacamole :( I did make the silly mistake once of eating some chili macarroni casserole - we were paying for it that night.
babylove - I think the afternoon fussies are common. Our doctor was not surprised by the fact that Reagan has them too.
Jennylou - cute picture of Nora!!

We had our one month check up today. Reagan is up to 10 pounds 8 ounces - up more than 2 pounds. What a little piggie! ;) She loves momma milk. I'm currently on Fenugreek but I think I should switch to the tea. She seriously wipes me out and I haven't been able to freeze any milk in about a week (although I have a stash of 8 bottles in the fridge at all times).
Then we went for her one month photos. I only got crappy thumbnails of the pictures, but they are cute. She was fussy at the beginning because she was hungry. But we did manage to get some nice photos that I'll post when we get them.

Had to tell you, Jennylou, that is an amazing photo- your daughter is just beautiful!
Also, Sherry and Sara, I co-slept with Mia for the first few months b/c she wouldn't sleep anywhere else. She moved her into the crib around 4 months with no problem. I also co-slept with Jackson for a few nights, but he is SUCH a grunter ALL NIGHT LONG that I not only moved him into the co-sleeper, but out of our room...we are all sleeping much better. Just depends on the kid, but I don't think you'll be setting any bad habits this early on...

We went for a weight check yesterday. She was 9 lb, 13 oz. Up 10 oz in 15 days - I thought it wasn't enough (I originally thought they wanted 1 oz per day) but the doctor was very happy. He suggested maybe trying 4 oz at a time because after feeding she still wants to suck like crazy on her binky, though she doesn't act hungry. I can't afford (BM wise) right now to try 4 oz at every feeding and not have her finish it - so we'll try it gradually. I don't think her stomach is big enough - if she is hungry every more often than 2 1/2 hours then she spits up a big chunk of the second meal.
I have added in a 5th pump and am back up to 32 oz (from 26) so I am happy but I am experiencing extremely sore nipples now.
He also would like us to TRY to not automatically put her in the bouncy chair - to only resort to that (or the carseat or the swing) if she won't settle down.
I am with all of you with the sleeping issues. She was wonderful for the first couple of weeks but now won't sleep during the day unless she's being held. Which has been okay for the last 5 days since MIL was here. But she's leaving tomorrow so its back to just me. Its been SO wonderful having another pair of hands.
She takes a little while to get down in the evening, but that also is because DH is trying to put her down too awake and he's not creating a "calm" environment before trying to put her down. Looks like I'll need to take over that duty to see if that helps.
We've decided to forego the professional pictures for her 1 month pics and try to do them ourselves (we are both photographer want-to-bes) and then start with the professional pictures at 3 months.
I still haven't taken Elizabeth out by myself - tomorrow will be the first time when I drop my MIL off at the airport - Boston's airport is not exactly the best place to start - but she sleeps so well in the car so hopefully it will be okay.
rings - I did end up putting my engagement ring on after 3 weeks (wedding ring after 2 weeks) - it doesn't come off as easily as it used to but it is wonderful to wear it again.
feet - Sunday it was chilly so I wore shoes that tie for the first time since April. Ow did my feet/toes hurt!! I wanted to cry. I don't know if my feet are actually wider or if it is just that they aren't used to being confined. I hope it is the later because Fall is quickly approaching and my Tevas and flip-flops won't do much longer.

4 weeks today! WOW!
I only have a minute as Ryan is asleep in his carseat and will soon be awake, but I watned to try to update here.
WE had our first sick-baby ped visit today - Ryan caught mamma's cold. :( Well, that's what I thought, but the doctor said that he just had "tons of snot." Um...thanks? I think I knew that.
The good knews was that he's up to 9lbs, 2oz!! At our 2 week visit, he was a mere 7lbs, 1oz, so the doctor was THRILLED that he's gaining 2oz+ per day. HE asked what my milk was made of - lead or gold?! Funny guy, eh?
Sleeping isn't too bad, add us to the group though that is co-sleeping unwantedly.. It's not so bad though, remember my DH works nights, so it's just the two of us. I don't sleep that well, b/c I'm tuned into his every move and grunt. DH tries if I have a bad night to take him out in the early am hours when he gets home, and I get 1-2 hours of pure blissful rest. He does well though - of course NO established bedtime, but once he goes to sleep, he's normally down for 2.5-3 hours before waking again. The first two times, he goes RIGHT back to sleep, the third feeding - normally he's up an hour or so, then back down for another 3 hours.
I have been out several times by myself, and that's a big thing considering R hardly EVER sleeps in his carseat. You put him in there and he's wide awake!! Tonight was an anomaly - he slept all the way home. A huge feat considering we live 30 minutes from church.
Feet - I'm one of the lucky ones I guess in that I lost all my swelling in the first couple of days. I can wear all my shoes again, thankfully!
Weight - down 27lbs! I still have 8lbs, to go - but nothing is in it's rightful place. I'm 2 sizes larger on the bottom, only 1 size larger up top. I went from a C cup to a D cup. I do however still feel like I'm wearing tents, because I have to have a 1x to fit my boobs, and I need a L or XL to fit my waist area (shirt wise) so 1)I have tons of extra material floating around and 2)most women's size tops are much longer, so I still feel like I'm a cow.
Anyone dealing with smart-aleck comments still after delivery? I had one person tell me the other day that my son musta been eating in the hog pen b/c he was growing so fast, another tonight exclaimed that he was getting so big - I was just a jersey cow. Yeah, thanks. UGH! That's not to mention the MILLION comments you get from well-meaning people about what you should/n't be doing - cereal in their bottles, giving them water instead of milk every day, Co-sleeping, blah blah blah. I'm ready for people to leave me alone and just let me be a MOM!
Speaking of being a mom - it's slowly starting to sink in. Don't think it's really hit yet - I'm a mother. The thing I have always associated with MY mother's name - I now have that distinction added to my name! WHOA!
My times running out - gotta run! Congrats to all the precious babies and btw, here's mine!:

jesseybell - kudos for upping your supply each day. I know that was something you were thinking/concerned about. Maybe try giving E and extra half ounce each feeding...that could work. We jumped R from 2 to 4 but she took it well. We give her maybe 4.5 every now and then and she does fine. But, if she eats a 4 ouncer and wants the breast she tends to spit up a lot - I think she's over eating.
mrstim - I just get the stupid azz comments from FIL. He thinks he knows all about raising kids. I try to remind him that a lot has changed in 25 years and he hardly had any interaction with his kids as children - thank you very much.
Sleeping - we're still good in that area at night. We've started Reagan on a routine. We're giving her a nightly bath around 9 then I'm nursing her until she's content. She's down by about 10 and has been sleeping for 4 hours at a time. I get up with her between 2-2:30 (DH used to do this feeding for me, but he's back to work and she's been getting up about 5-10 minutes before he needs to) and she nurses until about 2:30-3. She wakes up around 6:30 or 7 for her next feeding and we're up for the day.
The thing that "worries" me is that we're putting her in her swing. I don't mind it, but I don't want to have to break this habit. I try to switch it up with her bassinet, but she doesn't sleep as well in there.
Okay, is anyone as nutty as I am and already thinking about their DC's first birthday party? I know I'm silly, but I am. And my mom is too. I'm sure it will subside, but my mom is already picking up things for the party. ;)

Anyone else have a *very* fussy baby right around the time DH comes home from work...ugh. Jake is uber fussy unless he is eating. Even being held doesn't do it for him. Last night was not so good...he cried/screamed on and off all night. DH finally got him to sleep around 1. This is becoming an everynight routine...I hope he outgrows it soon :( I feel bad that nothing we do soothes him, but I guess sometimes they just have to cry.

Mother's Tea: DH purhcased it at Whole Foods. But I was also told you can purchase it at Trader Joes. These are both organic grocery stores, not sure if you have any around you.
K&H's Mommy: Feliza has the same outfit as well. I must take a picture and post it as well.
jennylou: Love the picture of Nora. Your sister has a great eye. I must get my sister to take some pictures.
Chimichanga: Glad I am not the only one already thinking about 1st b-day party ideas. I was thinking of doing a Western theme at our family ranch and getting petting animals and even doing a pony ride for the kids.
Post Delivery: Why didn't anyone tell me I was going to be walking like a penguin. And how long will this last? I had a 2 degree Perineal Laceration tear and it still hurts.
Sleeping : Feliza is actually a good sleeper. She has been sleepping in her bassinet every night except the first night which she co-slept. Then we realized we must put her in the bassinet before she gets used to it. She only wakes up twice, at 2am and 4am for feedings and diaper changes. But goes right back to sleep.

I am posting even though I should be doing some cleaning or something. ;) Grant is doing so well, I couldn't be much luckier. He is getting soooo big, I am not sure how much he weighs right now (2 mth check up is the 18th). I bet he will be over 14 lbs by then, maybe even 15. He is sleeping pretty well he goes down around 9 or 10 most nights then wakes up about 2 or 3 then eats and sleeps till about 6ish eats again and sleeps to about 9:30-10. We co-sleep after his first feeding usually (I fall asleep :o ), but he sleeps in his bassinet for about 5 hrs with no problem.
Supply I actually have the opposite problem than some of you ladies, I think I make too much. Sometimes Grant will get really choked up and pull off then everything gets soaked!
Rings/ swelling- Even though I was ridiculously swollen it started to reside immediately after delivery even though everyone insisted I would swell more at first. My dr said I do the recovery better than anyone she has seen, now if I could just do the pregnancy right.
Sleep- Like I said earlier Grant goes down pretty easy. He likes to be held but will sleep in his bassinet most of the time.
Fussyness- He will sometimes get a bit fussy in the evening (for maybe an hour or so), but I think its more caused by gas than anything.
Going out- I usually go out (with at least 1 dc, usually both) almost everyday since I was allowed to drive at 2 wks pp. I just can't stand not doing anything.
Pics I got Grant's pics done at JCPenney at about 2 1/2 wks (also tried to get Isaacs 2 yr done, but that didn't go so well). I will probably go back again in October, but I may go somewhere else I haven't decided yet.
Unwnated Comments- Actually haven't really had any, but of course most people see me with both my kids so they know I've done this before. Ocassionally I get the "wow you sure have you're hands full!" Which I do so, can't really get upset about that.
Well I gotta run Isaac is being a two yr old (I am sure the RO will know what I mean ;) ).

Unwanted comments - Ditto isaacsmommy. I have Abby AND Logan with me all the time, so no one has dared to give 'advice'. I DO always have people asking how far apart they are (a little under 21 months) and then gasping and saying things like 'I don't know how you do it!' - even other parents toting single, older kids with them.
Rings and swelling - I only ever took off my e-ring so I wouldn't wear it to the hospital my mistake. Never had bad swelling.
Supply - Thank the good Lord that this time I seem to have a little more than enough! I struggled with undersupply with DD.
Pics - I'm a self-proclaimed pic-aholic. ;) I had Abby's picture taken every single month of her first year, plus again at 18 months, again for Father's Day for a special present for DH, and again last week. :o We usually go to JCP, but have also hit Sears, Picture People and Kiddie Kandids. If there were any other studios in my area, I'd probably have hit them too. Logan's had his taken twice - once at 2 weeks (kind of a disaster), and again last week at a month. I didn't intend on having pics taken last week. We were supposed to be doing group shots of my nephew, Abby and Logan, but my nephew threw a tremendous fit (he's 25 months) and while they tried to calm him down, I had them take some pics of Abby and of Logan to kill time. They're really good ones too! I was impressed.
Sleep - Logan sleeps ok; it's just the crying during his awake-time that drives me nuts sometimes. Poor little guy. Sensitive tummy AND severe acid reflux. :( He got screwed.

We just got back from E's 2 week appointment. She is 9 lbs 10 oz, up a whole pound from her birth weight! She has also grown 1/2 inch and is now 21 1/2 inches long. Guess mama's milk is good. :) They said she looks great and they will see her back at 2 months when she starts getting her vaccinations.
BFing is going better, but about one feeding a day she has the worst time lattching correctly. It is a little frustrating, but we are getting through it. I bought a breast pump on Tuesday, and I have been pumping once a day to start building a stash. I have been getting about 6 ounces total each time.
Oops, crying baby! Be back later!

Well, Jake has baby ezcema. I took him to the dr this morning bc I was concerned about the "rash" that he developed on his cheeks. Turns out it's not baby acne, but ezcema :( It doesn't seem to bother him though. The dr recommended Aquaphor moisturizer.
***
Unwanted advice ~ So far not much. One lady in her 80's (a friend of DH's grandma) went off about how she didn't think BFing was good but let's be honest, what does she know?! ANother old lady told me that Jake would be cold since he wasn't all wrapped up....hello?! It's 85 degrees outside!
Rings and swelling ~ I was able to get my wedding band on at one week PP and my e-ring at 2 weeks. THey are still a bit tighter than usual but can go on and off without a problem. The only thing that hasn't gone back down is my feet...ugh. They are still one size bigger than usual. I'm starting to think I'm now a size 8 for good...
Pics ~ I was planning on hiring my wedding photog to do a shoot around now but I've changed my mind b/c he can only do it on weekdays and DH works. So we are going to do Picture People at the mall for his 4w pics on Sunday and then hire our wedding photog for his 6 mo or 1 yr pics.
Supply ~ I think I have more than enough. Jake is gaining weight and I always seem to have plenty even if he cluster feeds. And I pump AFTER his two morning feedings and consistently get 1-2 oz total. The LC said that's good.
Going out ~ We go out every single day. I hate being home. Besides, he sleeps in the stroller if we're out ;)
Sleep ~ We do pretty well. Jake goes 3-4 (sometimes 5) hrs between feedings at night. He really only gets up once to eat during the night (between 10 and 6) so I consider myself lucky!

Thanks to all the ladies who shared their experience with the tea. MIL says she bought me some of it and will bring it over this weekend. BTW, my mother is coming into town to see Kai for the first time this weekend. I'm glad she will get to see him and I know he will have her wrapped around his little finger. :) Still, DH and I are making no moves to clean up. We've already decided we don't have the energy, lol.
Unwanted advice I didn't mind at first, but then we started getting so much conflicting advice-- especially on BFing. Right now it seems we are just "learning from doing". But things are going much better in that area and we're only doing a little supplementing at night.
Rings and swelling I'm so eager to get my rings back on. But I think it'll be another week or two before enough swelling goes down, even though my hands look like they're back to normal. Even my feet have gone down, but my ankles will swell right back up if I'm on my feet too long.
Supply Are you ladies sticking to mainly one breast for a feeding? Or switching between the two?
Evening fussiness Yep. We're having the same thing. Kai would sleep through most of the day if I didn't wake him up to be fed. But in the evening/at night he wants to be played with, walked, and bounced. The pediatrician suggested I add more feedings and playtime in the day, and give maybe an ounce of formula at night.
Stitches I think one of mine came out, when I was washing up this morning. (TMI!) I saw a stitch or a piece of one on the washcloth. Is that OK?

cosmic ~ Kai is so adorable!! As for your questions:
1. BFing - Per our ped's instructions, I feed Jake from both breasts. He says that the foremilk is rich in fat and nutrients etc and he wants to make sure that Jake gets more of that than the hindmilk. But I have heard different theories about this. I just stick to what my ped tells me to do.
2. Stitches - My OB told me that I might notice the stitches coming out when I wipe and that it was fine. I haven't noticed anything but then again I might not have looked that closely.
Totally unsolicited...re: evening fussiness, I talked to our ped about it today and he suggested Mylicon drops 3X per day. We tried it today and it worked. Jake wasn't fussy at all at his usual time.

Babylove- I am pretty sure that hindmilk is actually higher in fat. This is from what I read, but also I know when I used to pump the first milk that I collected was always thinner and less opaque.
Both of my kids have tended to be one sided eaters, but many do both sides.
ETA:
Foremilk is the milk (typically lower in fat) available at the beginning of a feeding; hindmilk is milk at the end of a feeding, which has a higher fat content than the foremilk at that feeding. There is no sharp distinction between foremilk and hindmilk – the change is very gradual. Research from Peter Hartmann's group tells us that fat content of the milk is primarily determined by the emptiness of the breast -- the less milk in the breast, the higher the fat content.
from here (http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/foremilk-hindmilk.html)
I looked it up to make sure I wasn't making something up. :)

Well…it has been awhile since I have posted, but I have been following along. There has been way too much going on….so I am not even going to try SO’s….but here are some answers to the QOTD’s
Unwanted Advice – Haven’t gotten too much, luckily. I think if I was bombarded, I would not be soo polite. The only thing I keep hearing is….boy, your life is never going to be the same! Get used to revolving your life around the baby! Ok…thanks! I live it everyday….I know. (I guess this hits very close to home….the first couple of weeks I struggled with baby blues in the form of the realization that my life is not my own anymore (and that simple tasks are no longer simple…like cleaning)….it was very tough and overwhelming. I still struggle, but it is not a constant feeling
Rings and Swelling – I have been able to wear my e-ring…at about 1 wk pp….but my
Wedding band…not yet. My fingers were never swelled, but my knuckles seem to be bigger. My feet swelled TREMENDOUSLY after birth (way more than during Pregnancy)…but are back to normal now
As far as weight…I have lost 28 of the 29 lbs I gained…3 wks PP
Pics – We decided to not to do 1 month photos. We are taking some at home though…..I didn’t even really think about it until reading it here
Going Out – we started taking her out at about 1 wk. we pretty much get go everyday. I wonder what people think when they find out how young she is….
Sleep – I have to say that we have been lucky on this front so far. With the exception of 2 or 3 nights, Lily has slept anywhere from 5.5-6.5 hrs at night. Last night we actually moved the bassinet into her room and tried her sleeping in there. She slept for a whopping 7.5 hrs!!
Stiches/Healing – I had a 4th degree tear and I have to say the first 2 weeks were quite painful for me…yeah I know the penguin walk well. My stiches were supposed to absorb, but for some reason they didn’t. So my dr removed them. Let me say, once she removed them (3.5 wks PP) I have felt MUCH better…not 100%....but way better. So, yeah for me the healing process has taken some time.
Ok….gotta go! Lily is calling my name!

Yesterday, after taking my MIL to the airport, we stopped by DH (and my) work to show DD to a few people. It was really weird to be there - like the clashing of both my worlds.
Today DH told me that a woman who gave birth in May and should have returned a few weeks ago gave her notice (he's not positive if she is staying home). Part of me was really jealous (if she is staying home) though I tell myself what I want is to work 3 days and stay home 2, but my company won't let me. I may push the issue more after DC #2 if I am still there (I will have been there 9 years if that is the case - hopefully they'll be able to work with me on part time or working from home).
Elizabeth and I had our first real solo outing today to BRU. She was fine in the car and in the store. I bought her a bunch of toys and clothes. I also looked at the Papasan Swing - I can justify the cost but I am not sure if we really have the space for it.
I booked our cruise for May - 36 weeks to get back into my honeymoon clothes (about 30 lbs to loose and lots of toning needed). Even though we don't plan on bringing Elizabeth I did ask how much it would cost and verified that she would need a passport.

It's amazing how these little babies just fit right into your life. DH had to go back to work immediately after she was born (mortgage sales finance and it's busy right now!) so it's just been me and the kiddos. I'm picking up DD at school with the other two kids with me, people are amazed to hear that I just gave birth a few days ago! What are you gonna do? Life goes on, gotta keep up!
We close on our house in two weeks and will be moving in 3 weeks, I am so excited! although I have to admit that it's been nice being able to get everywhere I need to get in this little apartment. It hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be.
BFing is going perfectly, she's the best nurser out of all my kids - or maybe I just know what I'm doing now so I can help out? That could be. I was engorged for 4 days and couldn't figure out why - well my nursing bra was too night and constrictive. Bought a new one and it's getting better already, thank goodness!
unwanted advice - my friends and family know not to give me any advice at this point, LOL!!! One thing I can't stand though is after I feed her and I pass her off to someone to hold...if she makes any noise they always say "oh are you hungry?" That just PISSES me off. I'm sure it's just something to say but to me it's like you are saying that I am not providing for my baby or something.
Rings/swelling - I was able to wear my wedding ring the entire time but I did take it off for delivery since I got swollen with DS after delivery. But when I got home from the hospital both rings could fit fine, no swelling at all.
milk supply - Allison only takes one breast at a time. She's a total snacker and it drives me crazy. I am feeding her every 1-2 hours, but at night it's about every 2-3. I wish she could just fill up and hold tight for 3 hours but not yet! I have a few bags of EBM in the freezer too which is nice to have just in case.
going out - we got out, we have to. Gotta get DD at school plus DS just can't stay home all the time. Once it cools down I want to head to the park for DS to run around so we'll be doing that (hopefully soon!)
pictures - We did the newborn ones at the hospital because I got a free package since I'm an employee. We'll do pictures pretty much every month at the portrait studio (I did it with my other kids as well). I love photos, I'm constantly taking pictures of the kids. I would love to take some photography classes but not sure when I could do that!
Have a good weekend!

Have been getting out with DD every week a time or two, and it feels great to enter the world again! She does so well in the car, so long as I time a feeding just before we head out.
DH's work announced a company trip to Hawaii in November. We were bummed initially, thinking DD and I would have to stay home since she'll be so little and his company probably wouldn't allow kids. But good news, Maddie can come, too! Should be fun for us all. Also taking our first trip with her at the end of this month back home to TX for a wedding. Having her baptism that weekend as well. Just hoping the travel/flight goes smoothly for us all.
QOTD - Christening - Anyone have a good source for Christening gowns? We have a beautiful robe for her that DH and all of his siblings wore, but it has yellowed. Trying to find something for underneath but pure white won't work as well with the robe.
Unwanted advice - my biggest pet peeve, whether related to parenting or otherwise! When I was pregnant this was probably at it's worst. Met a woman who was a doula and she immediately starting pushing her methods on to me -- a complete stranger! I ended the conversation by replying "different things work for different people." Suddenly everyone is an expert...

Today we took Reagan to meet my dad's side of the family. My one cousin had a baby girl about 2 weeks before Reagan. We got a couple of pictures of the babies together. My cousin's DD is much less fussy - I think it's because she's FF; but I could be wrong.
Then we visited my grandma. She's in her 80s and had umpteen strokes and wanted to hold Reagan while she was fussing. Umm...no. I love my grandma, but DD is very squirmy and strong and my grandma is not the steadiest on her feet (she was standing when she asked for R) and has very bad hands.
R was eating like CRAZY when we were out. She didn't sleep too very much unfotunately. Now she's fussing like crazy (from about 8:30 - pretty much now). I will feed her again and put her down for the night. I'm hoping she sleeps well again. Being in a strange house (we're by my parents) I can understand the fussies.
Tomorrow we're going to a baby shower for a cousin on my mom's side. She just adopted a little boy from Russia. I hope R does well there too.

Elizabeth continues to sleep well at night once we put her down (which isn't until 12-1) but then she's sleeping until 6 or 7. But we need to feed her more now during the day since she's dropped a feeding by sleeping so much. Which means she's outgrowning her little 2.5 oz bottles (which hold 4 only if to the brim).
I had a "I am a terrible mother" incident yesterday. We fed her and then ran out to BJs. I decided not to bring any BM with me (I always bring emergency formula) because I didn't think we'd be out long. Of course we got held up and she started a melt down. I really, really didn't want to feed her the formula since she hasn't had any in almost 4 weeks. We were able to calm her down until we got home. Mommy is never going to leave home without BM again!
I am starting to count down the days until my 6 week appt (on the 20th). I am STILL bleeding so DTD isn't even an option right now. But I also want the go ahead to work out and go swimming. Plus I want a prescription for the Pill - as I've told my friends, if we need to use condoms we're never going to do it or Baby #2 is going to come along a lot faster than we thought!

I can't believe it's been 4 weeks already! Time is absolutely flying by! Jake is doing great, except for the return of the diaper rash today... And he has a little skin breakdown that bled a little bit today. Of course I called the ped tonight and now we have to eliminate wipes for 72 hrs and use only wash cloths.
We took Jake to Picture People to have his 4w pics taken. I was so scared that he would be a mess b/c he didn't nap at all in the morning. But he fell asleep on the way there and slept through his entire photo shoot. The pics came out adorable. We even took a cute shot of me, DH and Jake that came out great. (will post them as soon as I can scan them)
And tonight we introduced a bottle for the first time. He took it like a champ and at 4 1/2 oz. I am so relieved that he took it without a problem since I'm returning to work in November and really didn't want to worry about him refusing a bottle.
So that's Jake at 4w in a nutshell! :)

stretchmarks - Not sure if it was here that someone asked or another thread. Do they just fade over time? Should I start using cocoa butter (which I wasn't good about using during pregnancy)? Any other tips?
We had a get together of new parents at our townhouse complex today. A mom of a 2 month old told me about a group that teaches Pilates (with the babies) that starts on Friday. I just e-mailed the instructor to see if I can take it even though I haven't had my 6-week check up yet. The group also takes weekly walks.

Jesseybell- Strechmarks will fade. I have heard vit-e oil and things like mederma (sp?) can help a bit (nothing spectacular though).

Just wanted everyone to know I was alive! :) We're still having visitors daily and I've not had any computer time. I'd like to update tomorrow so hopefully I can get back on.
Mia is doing great. She was a week old last night and it's crazy how time is flying by! She's eating like a champ and pooping like a queen! :p

Hi Justcbk! Welcome!!
Jessey-My stretchmarks faded a little, but not a whole lot. I was lucky to get even more this time, so I am not expecting to be wearing a bikini ever again!!
Just popping in! I am helplessly behind. Today is my first day back at work, although I am only working half days this week. Hopefully I can get caught back up.
David is good!! He doesn't sleep well and is a lot fussier than is sister ever was, but he has me wrapped around his little finger!
