Yay! New thread!
Feeling much better, so I am so glad I took the antibiotics. I am ready to be done with work though. We're are getting ready to remodel so the store is closing and I kept running back and forth to enter my manager's key for markdowns. It was way exhausting. At my appointment next week, I am going to talk to my doctor about going on limited activity sometime in December. I don't think me and my twin belly are going to make it through the retail holiday rush.
Big ultrasound appointment (to look for any problems) on the 8th.

Wow, I can't believe it's time for a new thread already!
(I'm still trying to figure out how to keep up with this group! I have more time to read than post, but by the time I do get around to posting I can't remember what I wanted to reply to people!)
Thanks for the warm welcome last week! Now it's my turnt to say welcome to Aloha!
Isobel - ugh! I cannot imagine how tired you must be after working all day on your feet.
babae07 - phooey on getting sick at work! I hope your m/s goes away soon. How cool to have someone at work to talk to though!
Random bits:
u/s - I've already had 3 -- 1 to date because my cycles were very very random (90+ days, 45 days, etc.), the 2nd because the h/b wasn't apparent at the first, and then the 3rd because I had some spotting twice in one week. I feel for those who have such restrictions and haven't had one yet.
telling people - Beside our families and some close girlfriends, the only other person who knows is my direct supervisor. I told her because I felt very guilty leaving for so many appointments. I haven't decided when we'll let the cat out of the bag to everyone else, but I'll at least wait until after our 12 week appointment next week.
NIP - I will do it if necessary, and I most certainly won't go to some nasty bathroom to feed my child. I'm worried about being confronted by some crank though, because I don't handle that kind of thing very well.
sleeping - I've never been one to wake in the middle of the night, but I have the past few nights. It stinks because our bedroom is upstairs and our only bathroom is downstairs and it's just such a long trip at 2:30am!
My next appoinment is August 9th.
babae07
08-03-2006, 08:11 AM
Yeah for the 2nd trimester! Although I'll be 12wks tomorrow with no end to m/s in sight. Yuck!
Good Morning! Hoping everyone else is doing better than I am.
isobel - I can't imagine running around all day for work. I can barely tolerate sitting in front of my computer.
juliebug - Yes! I hope my m/s goes away too.

Good Morning Ladies!
I just got back from my dr. appt. Everything went really well. I haven't gained any weight and my blood pressure and pulse are down, which is great news! Also, most importantly I got to hear the heartbeat!!!!!! It was about 160. It was such a great sound I didn't want her to take the doppler away.
She said the cramping I've been having is fine as long as there is no spotting.
I scheduled my next appt. for September 6th. She said we probably won't be able to tell the gender at that point so we are going to schedule another appt a couple of weeks after that. The 6th is 16 weeks on the dot so I might try and convince her that day to try and tell its gender.
Funny Story: At my last appt. I couldn't urinate enough so they needed a large urine sample today. I knew they would need this, so this morning I made sure to drink 2 bottles of water. Well for some reason, stage fright, I couldn't go when I got there. I tried again at the end of the appt and still couldn't go. The Dr. said they really needed a sample and asked if I could stay until I could go. 5 glasses of water and 35 minutes later I finally had to go! When I got out of the restroom the Dr, nurse, and the receptionist were all standing outside waiting to see if I had gone. When I gave them the thumbs up everyone started cheering in the hall. I felt like a 3 yr. old who had just gone pee-pee in the toilet for the first time. It was quite humorous! In the future I will schedule my appts in the afternoon when I have to go like every 10 minutes!
Bombera- Glad you are back!
Shimmerstar- There has got to be away around the 1 u/s deal. Talk to your doctor about it, maybe they can cut you a deal on the cost.
Isobel- I would imagine your doctor will put you on limited activity regardless if you want it or not b/c of the twin factor.
Sleeping- I have good nights and bad; My boobs are so sensitive that if I accidentally roll on to one of them or one gets caught under me I wake up in excruciating pain. I have been sleeping with a teddy bear to try and keep me laying on my side. A body pillow works too, but DH steals mine from me in his sleep.
Telling people- All of my family knows. And the majority of our friends know b/c we went out one night and DH and I were late so they had already ordered us drinks…..It was pretty obvious when I had to turn down my drink…. My work still doesn't know and I am really debating when to tell them b/c I'm so new. I guess in a few more weeks I will spill the beans!

Oh, Isobel, if you can afford it, see if he can limit you before the Thanksgiving hell! Hey, are you having massive back problems already? I am, which makes me dread getting bigger! (Also the idea of looking for clothes that will fit.....yuck!)
I'm 11 weeks today. 1 week until my (next) US.
Reading some of that "pressure to bf" thread, biting my tongue because it's no one's damned business, but, also, with two, not sure if, for the first few days/weeks, I will be making enough. I've already prepped myself for premature/small babies (hoping I go as long as I can, though), but it really makes me want to scream at people that it's none of their business!!!!
Besides, I know I will be needing an extra set of hands and I can see my husband up with me in the middle of the night with a bottle. (For the baby...not himself!)

People freak about bfing. They go nuts that you have to bf and then it hits 6 months and get asked if the child is weaned yet. It can be so hard at first. I still bf in public although I usually use the bottom of my t-shirt to cover skin since ds won't stay covered.
u/s I only got on last time and I figure I will only get one this time.
My back is already sore since I am having another round of clinging issues from a little boy who thinks not being carried is the end of the world.

Threadmistress - Thanks for the new thread! It looks great.
Juliebug - I can't keep up either, and I don't have a job.
Jenah - You crack me up w/ the idea of your hubby being up in the middle of the night w/ a bottle. :D
PrincessCJ - Glad to hear everything went well at your appointment! I hope I don't have stage fright next week!
I had a dream last night that I had my baby on February 16. We'll see if dreams come true. I also dreamed that B and I lived in my old house in Anchorage, and Macaroni (my cat) got out and got chased by a very angry German Shepherd type dog, who followed Mac back into the house and caught him. :eek: I woke up with my heart pounding.

Back from our trip. It was great weather, never broke 65 degrees, a nice change, except we had to stop at the outlets and buy Landon a fall wardrobe, since he had outgrown all of his stuff from last fall.
NIP: I bf'ed Landon until about a week after I found out I was pg. He was almost 13 mos., had had weaned himself down to just nursing in the a.m. and at night, it was more of a comfort thing, though it was still hard (emotionally) for me to wean completely. I never had a problem NIP, in the beginning, it's awkward, just getting used to positioning and stuff, but by about 3 mos., the baby's got the hang of it and so do you and it's second nature. I always kept my skin covered and never had any problems with wierd looks from people. I have an Aunt who has issues w/ Bfing, she hated that my cousin (her daughter-in-law) did it, and made her feel SOOO uncomfortable doing it. I refused to let her stop me from doing it at family functions. I almost got joy out of doing it in front of her! :p Crazy lady!
u/s: I had 3 w/ Landon. So far I've had one, we'll see if he does another one before he sends me for the BIG one at 20 weeks. He said he probably would. I do know he's very anal about waiting for the BIG u/s until 20 weeks. I remember begging him to let me have it done at 18 weeks w/ Landon so we would know before x-mas, but he wouldn't go for it. I think I had Landon's at like, 19w 5d.
sleeping:I'm getting up to pee about 2 x's a night right now. This was a much bigger issue for me w/ Landon then it is now. I'm used to getting up to check on him at least once, and before he was sleeping through the night, I'm just used to interupted sleep, now.

isobel ~ I couldn't imagine having to be on my feet all day running around like that.
babae ~ Hope the m/s goes away soon. I'm right there with you. Hopefully it goes away soon. Although I'm not holding out much hope for me as mine didn't go away until I was 25+ wks the first time. I really don't want to be sick that long again but it's looking like I might be.
Candice ~ Yay for hearing the heartbeat! If I were you I'd give it another week after your next appt in order to tell the gender. I had my second u/s at a little over 17 wks last time. My next appt is when I'm exactly 16 wks as well and I'm suppose to have a test (u/s and bloodwork) between 16 and 18 wks. My OB said we'd schedule that one this next time. Sorry about the bathroom incident. I never have that problem (all my appts are in the afternoon). Usually I have to sit in waiting room wondering when I'll be called back because I have to go so bad. I go before we leave the house and then I don't drink a whole bunch between there and the office but we usually have to sit there at least 30 min (sometimes much longer) and I tend to get thirsty.
More than one u/s ~ I heard last time that my insurance would only pay for one u/s. A couple of friends were quite surprised when I had my first one at 8 wks and then had another one at 17 wks. I ended up having a total of 5 u/s during my pregnancy and insurance paid for all of them. I did get letters on 3 of them saying that they weren't 'medically necessary' but my secondary insurance paid them. I also got one of those letters concerning some blood work. Second insurance paid it and never said a word. Needless to say we dropped the first insurance.
As long as the doctor deems them medically necessary then insurance should pay for them no matter how many you need to have. They usually don't do them just because. There is usually a medical reason (checking on size, position, for multiples, spotting/bleeding issues, placenta placement, fluid levels - not enough/too much, biophysical profiles, etc).
Pressure to b/f ~ I hate the people that pressure to b/f. I wasn't a b/f baby and neither was my DH. Neither one of us were sick a lot as babies. I've heard people say that formula fed babies are sicker babies/children. I don't buy it. I was never sick much as a child either. I started out b/fing my DD but when my thyroid started going crazy my milk supply went south. I tried for months while the doctors tried to figure out what the problem was. Finally they figured it out and I was put on meds which I was told NOT to b/f (by my doctors and the pharmacist but I have been told by one person on this site that I could have continued. It wasn't advised for me but part of that could have been that my levels were so low they didn't even register on their tests and I was on a high dosage). I felt bad for not being able to b/f my DD but my family was really supportive. Other people weren't as supportive when they would see us pull a bottle out of the diaper bag. If they would make loud enough comments DH would tell them that I had a medical condition that prevented me from b/f and I was on medication that prevented it as well. They would just roll their eyes then.
I say it's no one elses business. I needed and appreciated the fact that someone else could help feed DD because I was beyond exhausted from the thyroid issues. There are those that want their DHs (and they themselves wanted to be involved) to help feed the baby. My DH loved being able to feed DD and bond with her just as I did when I fed her.
kat ~ I hear you on the back being sore already. If I have to carry my DD around a lot mine is sore as well. I've had trouble with it since I was in labor. The area around the epidural site is still extremely tender/sore for me.
MrsHill ~ Thanks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We finally got the shots issue resolved. DD's doctor decided to order more and just keep giving them. They said it was too much of a problem for other places to let their patients go there and get the shots. Most of the other places required us to transfer DD as patient to their clinic which we weren't going to do. We are quite happy with our current doctor and nurse. We already know that he'll take on our new little one when it's born. I'm so thankful that the issue has been resolved but it only took a month. I've learned my lesson with our county health department that unless you are medicaid, aren't married, are a teen mother, don't have any insurance, and a couple of other things are the only reason that you can go there. Since we have private insurance and they pay 100% of the cost we weren't allowed to use the health department. :rolleyes: My how the rules have changed since I was required to go there to get my last few immunizations when my doctor's office stopped giving them.
stars ~ If I remember correctly, you have hypothyroidism now. I have it as well. I found out at my first OB appt. and have been on the meds since mid June. I'm still extremely tired. I'm not sure if it's the hypo or the pregnancy or a combination of both. I was hoping that by now I could tell some difference in how I feel but I haven't. I need to call and find out what my recent levels are before I call to get my meds refilled.
Yeah for a new thread! The new thread looks great usafwife.
PrincessCJ: Congrats on hearing the heartbeat.
isobel: I can't imagine having to be on my feet all day for work right now.
sleeping: I'm finding it hard to sleep on my left side as well. I always wake up on my back.
I have been waking up in the middle of the night to go pee, but I never get up to do it. I just hold it til morning. I've never been one to wake up in the night to go pee and I just can't make myself to do it now. I'm sure that'll change later on.
I just have to say, our threadmistresses ROCK!!!
Beautiful new thread and I love all the momy id's (though I think I look fat in my belly shots, but only I am to blame for that). Though I didn't see Jenah's "Team Purple" location :P
isobel, I agree with jenah, I don't see how you could make it to Thanksgiving! If you need to from a financial standpoint, then I hope you have no problems!!! (Well, I hope you have no problems regardless of course)
julie, don't feel bad if you can't keep up. I can't either!! Though it is easer when there is only one page.
babae, I really hope your m/s ends soon. I feel for you!
CJ, that is hilarious about the urine sample. RO's...do we have to do this at every appt. I was kind of surprised at my 2nd appt that I had to give another sample. As for stomach sleeping, I am a stomach sleeper and found it was helpful to use 2 pillows...one for my head and one right under my ribcage to keep the pressure off my chest.
jenah, I imagine you are going to need more help with 2, so I don't see why your DH can't do a bottle feeding at night. I too bite my tongue at a lot of parenting threads.
danielskitty, hopefully you can have some alone time to take a warm bath or shower...or get a back massage! Is your son normally clingy or is he just going through a stage?
mrshill, Feb 16th huh? Any clue in the dream as to boy or girl? I love that your cat is named macaroni. If you get another one, you have to name it cheese :)
rancherswife, welcome back! I'm glad you had a great time and didn't suffer from this heat wave.
usaf, I'm glad you got the immunizations figured out. What a pain. Hopefully you won't have to go through the same thing next round of shots!
elenna, you must have the bladder of a large animal or something (I mean that in a nice way). I wake up having to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and there is no way I can go back to sleep without going. I wish I could!
I'm so happy I could do shout-outs this time :D
In regards to BF, I don't have much patience with people I consider to be overly zealous "judgers". Sure we all judge, but sometimes it gets way out of control. There are so many personal issues with BF and even NIP, that's it just not anyone elses' business. To be honest, I feel the same with a lot of parenting issues. There are so many ways to raise a child to be healthy and happy, we all do the best we can with what we have available.
Things are going ok here. I somehow, in the middle of a 95 degree heat wave, have managed to get a cold. I have a horribly sore throat and I can't really take anything good for it. It makes for sleepless nights and long days. It feels like it is getting better but I am run down.
I did have my OB appt on Tuesday and heard the heart beat. It was in the 150s. At first, she was looking very low in my abdomen and we couldn't find it, so she moved up and we found the baby on my right side about level with my hip bone, so I guess I am carrying higher than normal? ANyhow, it was muffled at first and sounded like a dog panting. Which I thought was funny. So I laughed. Which apparently made the little one flip over, then the hb was much louder and clearer. So that made me laugh more. Poor guy is going to be dizzy when he comes out because I laugh a lot :) (btw, I for some reason, think it will be a boy).
I have my next OB appt on Aug 29.
We'll schedule the big u/s then.
Rancherswife.. I was looking thru an old thread, and I saw the nursery you did for Landon… One word… WOW… It was so amazing looking. Good job, can’t wait to see what you do with this one.
Sleeping.. Last night was the first time I woke up in the middle of a dead sleep to go to the bathroom.. Plus I was having weird dreams. Like I already lived out this day, and now I’m replaying it in my head.. Very weird.. Plus I had to been about 8 months pregnant I was huge… LOL…
Candice.. Yay for hearing the heartbeat!
boilermaker- My due date buddy!!! I am so happy everything went well at your appt on Tuesday. My mom and gmaw and everyone I know says a hb 150 or under is a boy and 151 or over is a girl (something like that) I looked it up on the internet and it said it was a myth, but I still think its fun to hear! We found my hb about even with my hip bones as well.
jenahdawn~Yes, 2 pillows would probably make sense, but our bed is so crowded right now. Our first purchase, once we buy a house, is a bigger bed!!! As for DH helping w/ feeding, I am already prepping him by waking him up in the middle of the night to get me something to eat. I tell him I'm just preparing him for many months to come =)
As for BF and other parenting issues I'm pretty lucky b/c my family and friends are very MYOB on these subjects. They ask me my plans, but they don't give me advise on what's best. Mainly, they just want to know what type of presents I'll need (like breast pumps and Boppy pillows....) My cousin/best friend just had a baby so she has been good about telling me all the options I have, not just the options she chose.
This is early to ask, but others have talked about daycare, so I'm throwing it out there. Are most of you who work now planning to return to work after the baby comes?
jenjen0713
08-03-2006, 01:48 PM
working after baby born - Yep, I plan to continue working. I love my DS, but for me personally, I think I would go nuts if I was home 24/7. For us, it is good that I work because DS gets interaction with other kids and I get adult interaction and mental stimulation. Ideally, I would love to work part-time, but it just wouldn't work for us financially. I applaud all those who SAH because I can only imagine how tough it is and I also applaud all those who WOH, because I know how tough that is.
I don't work now, so there is no work to return to. (I own my own at home jewelry business, fwiw...) But, if there would be work to return to, I probably wouldn't because I'd only be working to pay for daycare.
Re: Macaroni - He's a funny cat. He's HUGE (23 lbs), and a big pile of love who rolls over for anyone who walks through the door just in case they want to rub his tummy. I got Macaroni and his littermate, Bailey, back in 2001. Here's a photo of Mac wanting to play Settlers of Cataan (http://www.flickr.com/photos/seahills/80036162/).
Jenahdawn - if you change your mind on Macaroni & Cheese, I have a weight watchers mac & cheese recipe that's supposed to be pretty good. I can post it if you want. :)
Re: Work - I don't work now either; so no work to return to. B and I worked at the same architectural firm before we got married (I was a support staff; he was/is an Associate Principal). He works a lot of hours, we were eating dinner at 9pm, and often eating crap because we were too tired to do anything else, and we were doing chores on the weekends cause that's the only time we had to do them. We decided something had to give, and that something was my job (that I never was horribly thrilled with anyway).
In other news ... I am experiencing some brown spotting today. I had a twingy cramp at about 11:30 when B got home (we were meeting the painter today to discuss the exterior paint job), and when he was leaving, I went to use the bathroom and there it was on my underwear -- a brown spot. I have a call into the Dr.'s office; the nurse is supposed to call me back shortly. I am doing my best not to get worked up over this, and am reassuring myself that I had an U/S and saw the heartbeat, so this is probably just a bunch of nothing.
In other other news, The Blue Angels are in town for The Seafair Airshow (http://www.seafair.com/airshow.asp) this weekend, and they are practicing right over my house. Soooo noisy, but exciting. :D It's totally freaking the cats out. Bailey is under the bed, and I have no idea where Macaroni is.
MrsHill - Thinking positive thoughts for you! If it makes you feel any better, I spotted brown in my first pregnancy off and on every few days from week 4 to week 14. I now have a 18 pounds bundle of joy, who loves to eat Cheerios and "talk" to our cats at home.
I'm waiting on MSH to update the IDs. It takes her a couple of days and her little one is due in about a month so around that time there will be a delay in the updating of the IDs as well. It usually takes her couple of days after I send her an update to get the pictures added.
Thanks for the new thread usafwife.
Princess: I've been trying to get the urine on demand thing to work too. I had an appt that was not specifically about the pregnancy and had just gone to the bathroom when they asked for a sample. Luckily they said a little bit was okay. The last appt I drank a bunch and then had to go so bad that I went before leaving and then took a water bottle and that worked.
Breastfeeding/NIP: My feeling is that women should be supported in whatever works best for them and their child. It's too bad that space isn't provided more readily for nursing. I had a co-worker who was so desperate that she was willing to nurse in the supply closet.
Working: I changed jobs recently and decided to look for a job that would allow me the flexibility to continue working while pregnant & parenting without being completely stressed out. I ended up with a position working at home with flexible PT hours. We've been learning how to live on less income--it's nice to know we can do it. The actual work is only okay, but the flexibility has been really great with the pregnancy. I expect that I will want to return to work FT outside the home after about a year...but I can't predict how I will feel at that point.
----------------------------------
I had a spotting scare last night. It turned out to be a small tear/cut that healed by the morning, but it freaked me out and I didn't get much sleep. It's amazing the things we notice when we are hyper aware of our bodies.
All this talk about Macaroni (even if it is about a cat) has me craving maraconi now. The box of white cheddar macaroni sitting in my cupboard at home is calling my name....:p
Speaking of furbabies...Are any of you feeling guilt about how much less attention your furbabies will get when your baby arrives? My cats are very needy. I'm trying to give them a lot of love now because I know I won't be able to give them as much when our baby arrives. I'm already feeling some guilt because I won't let them lay on my belly anymore (they're not happy about it).
MrsHill: I hope it is nothing. My thoughts are with you.
Working: I will be a SAHM for a bit. Probably next fall I'll go back to school part time depending on DH's work schedule. We'll see.
08-03-2006, 04:19 PM
MrsHill: I agree with the others - understandable that you're worried, but I think one brown spot after you've seen the heartbeat probably doesn't mean anything. I've been having weird cramping too...Let us know what your dr says...
Working: yup, I'll keep working. We may reevaluate what job I work at after DH is done with law school, bc I don't want to do law firm hours for much longer...
Pets: Well, my guilty thought has been -- what if I don't love the baby more than my dogs?? I know that's crazy and won't happen, but I love the dogs so much (most of my friends would say more than a normal person amount), so I can't help but wonder. :rolleyes: Everyone says though that dogs go back to being dogs once a baby comes around...
isobel- no running around for this girl, I have enough trouble getting out for a walk! I agree with Jenah- get off your feet before thanksgiving! That shopping day is killer I am sure!
Juliebug-I hear you on the bathroom thing. I always wake up around 4 and even though the bathroom is just across the room, I am too lazy to get up so I try to will it away. I usually lose, but I still try!
PrincessCJ- Your bathroom story made me laugh out loud! Too funny.
Jenah- You never know, your husband may want a bottle of beer in the middle of the night!
Mrs. Hill- Isn't it crazy how dreams can be so vivid? My friend had a dream that I was having a girl. She woke up and swore it was true. Then the other day she had one that I was having a boy and wondered if I was sure I wasn't having twins! Yikes! My dh is an architect too, and I work for his competitor in marketing! He came home "early" last night (9pm) so we actually had dinner together (of course I had snacked before then) so I feel your pain. I really hope the spotting was nothing. Keep us posted.
rancherswife- I wish it were 65 degrees here. I am so jealous. I think I would have bf in front of that aunt too! What does she care?
USAwife- that sucks about people's response to your not being able to breastfeed. I will be the same way I am afraid. I am to bf as long as I can, but if I have to go back on my meds, I can't so I will have to quit. I don't want to, but I can't take care of a baby if I am too sick to leave the bathroom. Nor will my milk have any nutrients if my body is not absorbing them. I wish people would just mind their own business sometimes!
Also, thanks for the great new thread! I love saying I am in my second trimester.
Boilermaker- how cute that the baby rolled when you laughed. He likes mommy to be happy!
Elenna- I too am worried about the effects of this baby on my puppy (he's six, but still a baby in my eyes). He really gets all the attention right now and I spoil him rotten. I keep trying to "talk" to him about the baby, but he just wags his tail and licks me! Oh well. He does like to sit in my lap and at 80 pounds, there won't be much room for him soon. He is not going to be happy with that. I think he thinks he is the size of a chihuahua!
FSB2005- I worry that there won't be any nicknames left for the baby because the dog has them all. Will it really be fair to call my dog "mama's baby" when the baby comes? Who knows... I am sure there will be enough love to go around!
As for me- I am still doing well. I carried in a 5gallon jug of water last night before I realized that since it was over 40 lbs I probably shouldn't have done that. I don't know when the restriction on lifting things starts. Any of you RO's know that one? I decided to leave the second one in my car so dh could get it, but this morning it was still there. So, I drove to work with it. Oh well. He is working a ton lately so I can't complain. I am doting on him instead of the other way around. He is really getting off easy with this baby. I am not sick and still making him dinner and trying to keep up with the house. I am going to have to play the preggo card a little more these last two trimesters. What is the point of carrying this baby if I don't get a little pampering out of it right? (aside from the joy of bringing a life into this world of course...)
Working- I don't want to work after the baby is born. We are still trying to figure out the finances. By December a huge chunk of debt will be paid off, but that still won't make things add up after we have to pay for insurance when I am not working. It will all work out, I have faith, but something is going to have to give in the meantime!
Have a great night everyone and welcome to our 2nd trimester!
Oh, and I AM having mac and cheese for dinner tonight! Thanks for the suggestion!
usafwife - M/s till 25 wks! Not a comforting thought. Hope things are different for you on this one.
Thanks everyone for your m/s sympathy.
Work after baby - I'd like to stay home but I'll be going back to work because we need my income. DH knows that if a parent were to stay home, it'll probably be him.
Please don't say cheese. *insert vomit smiley*:D (my constant food aversion)
MrsHill - Sending you good thoughts. Hopefully it's nothing.
Pets
I'm already feeling guilty about neglecting my cat. My toxoplasmosis test said I was not immune so my ob gave me some precautions. Eventhough I can still pet him and everything, I'm noticing I do it much less than I used to. It also doesn't help that I've been too tired to do anything. I am also worried about how my cat will react to the baby. He's already scared of toddlers and gets defensive around them.
Wow. This moves fast! I totally can not keep up with shout outs!
Working - I started back at 12 week PT and stayed that way for almost 2 months. I was supposed to stay PT after I had DD but my workload was too great to allow me to get it all done in a PT week. So I ended up FT beginning about 4 months PP. I have been trying since March to get back to PT but no can do. At least I have a flexible schedule (7 to 3) and 2 days at home and an incredibly awesome and supportive manager. I am already planning on going back PT after number 2. I know that I would be an awful SAHM because I tend to lack in the patience department. I am working on it but still. The cool thing is that if I stay 3 days a week the children will be entirely with my MIL and FIL. And my FIL is totally gaga over DD.
Wow, you all know how to come through for a girl. :) Thanks for all of your well-wishes!
Update: The Nurse called and she gave me a couple of options, one of which was to go in for an U/S to check and make sure everything was OK. I took her up on it. It was not with my regular Dr.; I saw Dr. Johanssen, who was great. The baby is fantastic, the spotting is nothing, and it was amazing to see a moving around baby in there(!!!) instead of just a little platypus. It was crazy to see it move! Holy moly, what an experience. Here's my upside-down baby (you can see his spine on the right hand side):
http://static.flickr.com/92/206076868_b27c1554e0.jpg?v=0
She did say (and I will write this in the spotting thread so hopefully others will call rather than worry), "It is very okay to come in here because of spotting. We never know what we're going to find on that U/S. You did the right thing; you don't want to worry yourself sick until your next appointment." She also said no nookie and no exercising for a week. So, there you have it.
Re: Furbabies - Yes, a little guilt about the cats not receiving as much attention. Bailey will probably be okay -- the one time he wants love is when he snuggles in my nook at night. We call it "filling up his tank." After about 30-60 mins of attention, his tank is full and it lasts him for about 24 hours. Mac just wants love all the time though, and he always wants to sit on me. I think he'll figure out that he can't sit on the baby though. I kind of wonder if the "new tiny noisy thing" is going to freak them out.
Bombera - Ahhhh more architects. I knew there was a reason I felt a connection to you. :p I did mostly work with Contracts & Billing, but stepped in to fill holes in Marketing when there was a crunch (you know how that goes). What kind of Architecture does your DH do? Mine does schools... right now he is Project Manager on a $35M high school. They had a Final Review set go out today; he got home at 10:30 PM. The nice thing though was that he expensed Pizza for the guys who were staying late, and I went and picked it up and brought it down there and had dinner with him & some ex-coworkers. It was fun.
Re: Dreams - I've been having crazy-ass dreams for a while now. I started a thread for it (http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=23004) in the Pregnancy section. Feel free to add your experiences!
With that, Jenahdawn and whoever else cares, here is the Weight Watchers Macaroni & Dairy-Type-Product recipe:
Ingredients
12 oz uncooked macaroni, elbow-type
1/2 cup fat-free sour cream
12 oz fat-free evaporated milk
8 oz low-fat cheddar or colby Dairy Product, shredded
1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
1/4 tsp table salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
2 Tbsp dried bread crumbs
2 Tbsp grated Parmesan Dairy Product
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350şF.
2. Cook pasta according to package directions without added fat or salt; drain and transfer to a large bowl. While pasta is still hot, stir in sour cream; set aside.
3. Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until tiny bubbles appear just around the edges (known as scalding). Reduce heat to low, add Dairy Type Product and simmer until cheese melts, stirring constantly with a wire whisk, about 2 minutes; remove from heat and stir in mustard, salt, pepper and nutmeg.
4. Add cheese mixture to pasta; mix well. Transfer to a 4-quart casserole dish.
5. Combine bread crumbs and Parmesan; sprinkle over pasta.
6. Bake until top is golden, about 30 minutes. Yields about 1 cup per serving.
1c = 5 WW points, which means nothing to me, but might mean something to you former WWers :)
Please check over the first couple of pages to make sure everything is correct for yourself. Let me know if there are any changes that need to be.
I have included a post for the listing of genders (boy, girl, surprise, awaiting u/s, and not sure). Please check over that and make sure that I have you down in the correct group. If you have changed your mind or would like to be added, please let me know.
I'm awaiting an update from MSH regarding our Mommy IDs. I sent it to her earlier this week so I should be hearing something soon. As soon as I've heard something I'll pass along the word. I usually try to wait and make one request to her with all the updates/changes for that week. If there haven't been any then I wait a little longer to send her something. She has a little one due in about a month so she won't be able to update those when she's gone having her little one. Hope everyone understands.
What did everyone decide about the secret baby shower I posted about a few weeks ago? Let me know how you feel. If we have enough interest we will go ahead with it.
isobel- So glad to hear that you are feeling better. Hopefully you can cut down your hours and rest during the holiday season.
Juliebug- I'm with you on NIP in the bathroom. I am germaphobic and hate the thought of BF my child in a nasty bathroom. However, I do like how Nordstrom has thier women's lounge set up where the sofas are separated from the bathrooms.
babae07 - Congrats on your 12w milestone tomorrow! :)
PrincessCJ - I always get worried that I wouldn't be able to urinate enough since my past appointments have been scheduled in the morning. That's cute how you gave the "thumbs up".
Jenah - That's cool that you have your own jewelry business. Do you make beaded jewelry? If so, I used to make beaded jewelry and just got back into it.
Daniel's kitty - Sorry to hear about your back. Hope you feel better soon.
Mrs. Hill- I have had some pretty crazy dreams myself. I once had a dream where I was BF and the milk was overflowing like crazy.
Also, my thoughts are with you as well. I'm sure everything is okay.
aloha - I'm one who is definitely hyper aware of my body. I check to see if I'm spotting. I freak out when I get cramps. I think its nature's way of preparing us for motherhood on looking out for our baby!
rancherswife - I love outlet shopping. We have a couple of nice outlets here in Northern CA which I love to shop at. I've found some really nice deals at the Children's Place outlet for my nephew.
USAwife - Thank you for maintaining this thread!
Also, glad to hear that your insurance issue was resolved. I still have to research and confirm with my DH insurance to find out how much of the labor and delivery they will cover.
Boilermaker- That's cute that your baby flipped when you laughed.
Elenna - I have a furbaby too, a terrier dog. She's been our little baby for the past 5 years.
fsb2005 - We bought some boxes of Kraft mac and cheese last night. I'm craving too!
bombera77 - I'm not sure when the restrictions start on lifting but, I've been told not to lift heavy objects until your 5th month. I could be wrong but, it's better to play it safe.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
m/s has subsided today. I still have issues sleeping on my left side. I was thinking of buying a Smoogle pillow but, I wonder if it's worth it. Our budget is very tight, I just might try a body pillow to see it that helps first.

Work - I am currently unemployed and my unemployment runs out this October. I am looking for a job but scared of being discriminated for being pregnant. I know its against the law but, some people told me that it happens. I would love to be a SAHM but, we live in the San Francisco Bay area and its not exactly the most affordable place to raise a family. So, I'm kinda forced to work.
Another thing on my mind is that we are thinking of buying a house by the end of this year. I know for a fact that we need a double income to afford a house here. So much is going on. I hope everything falls into place.
Also, just wanted to share.......here's my 12w belly pic:

fashionista, yeah, I've been doing it 5-6 years now. (It kind of ties in with my costume design major...right?)

jenahdawn - Hehe, yes it definitely ties in with your costume design major. :) It must be awesome to create things and be able to make a profit. I can't do beading as a business because, I can't part with my creations!
Speaking of costume design, I went to the Star Wars costume exhibit this year at LA's FIDM. The costumes for Queen Amidala were so elaborate. I also love the costumes from the movie Memoirs of a Geisha. I can't believe they handmade all of those fabrics.

Oh, if I could afford the materials, space and fabric, I LOVED the fabric design class I took in college.....
And, if I would ever go back and get my MFA, I would do my thesis on Kimono and would make one, from the hip wrap all the to kimono itself.

jenahdawn - Too funny. If my parents had not convinced me that I would never get a job in design, I loved MY fabric design courses and would have studied weaving!Now I do not have room for a loom in my house.
Kat - I am so glad tht M is into walking right now and is not as much as beinginto being held!
Dreams - I am having the opposite of dreams. I can not stay asleep most nights. I am waking many times a night, the same as the first time around! It really stinks.
So we finally starting telling my family about our new addition. This is X-posted from my Aug group.
Here is how we told our family about our new addition. Each of my sisters has looked at it and said "What does 'i'm a big sister' mean?" Hmmm. What do you think it means.

Had my last ultrasound with the RE yesterday, they will monitor my bloods for the next two weeks then I'm released :) Here is a picture of our little bean, 10 weeks and 4 days. One nice thing about being an "older mommy" is I get tons of ultrasounds :)

MrsHill – I wouldn’t worry I was asking my SIL, about that cause I too have had some “brown” discharge and she said it was perfectly normal. I read it somewhere too, just can’t remember where.
Elenna – Clyde, my oldest cat is 30 lbs… Loves to sleep right next to me. I can wake up in the middle of the night and he’s right there. I just don’t know how to break him out of sleeping next to me, when I love it so much. But the baby will be in our room and that’s a no-no for the baby, so something will have to change. I just hope they can handle it. If we shut the door on them they paw at it all night long… lol.
Working – I’m actually finishing up a temp job right now, so when this job finishes I will not be working. Eric wants me to be able to relax during this pregnancy. Alos his mom and sister were/are SAHM, so he’s use to it by now. I have a AWESOME husband…
FSB2005 – I am going off my last cycle, however… I use to go 35 days between cycles, so my doctor changed my LMP, to a week later… or sooner… I really don’t know… but basically it’s 2 weeks prior to us DTD.. That’s what he’s told me to go on… But I get comments from everyone that you can’t be pregnant before you actually had sex.. and a lot of people don’t know what day they conceived… I think I’m rare. Lol….
usafwife - M/s till 25 wks! Not a comforting thought. Hope things are different for you on this one……..Are you kidding me.. I have gotten sick every morning this week… UGH
Kindermom – OMG… Madelyn is SOOOOOO cute… I love that smile…
So I have to say and put this in Black and White.. I LOVE MY HUBBY. He’s awesome. I come home last night after going and getting my hair done… Dishes are washed (ok in the dishwasher running) lol, clothes in the washer and now in the dryer and dinner is being cooked… I told him, which I hope he saw as a compliment… That I could never complain about him being a “bad” hubby.. lol… He does so much to help me around the house.. He’s not one of those. That’s girls work and That’s Boys work.. He pitches in whenever it’s needed. I love it. I have to say I have been kinda down lately. I heard so kinda weird news the other day and it still has me a little upset. Well Eric’s ex is still in our lives.. She’s in the friends group and she is nice to me… but I have always thought it was a little weird. So anyways.. She’s been at my shower, the wedding and then she was there when we announced we were pregnant… well I just found out that now that we’re pregnant, she wants one now too. Which I wouldn’t mind, but it just seems all to much like “cause we are, she wants too” I have talked to my mom and she’s assured me that Eric is not Eddie and that I will always remain first and foremost in his eyes. I just wonder if this “jealousy” or “insecurity” or whatever it is will ever go away. Back then….My ex, Eddie, Cheated on me after we were married after I found out I kicked him out, and he filed for divorce. We were only married for 1 year. I think I have never really gotten over that hurt. I hid it, pushed it aside and never really dealt with it. I “know” Eric is not Eddie…But why do I have these feelings of hurt. Sorry to put a damper on the baby journaling.. but I’m hoping someone can snap me out of this I have the weirdest dreams, almost like this really isn’t happening and that in a moment I’m going to wake up and it’s going to be POOFF it’s all gone…
Ok I’m nuts. Now.. lol

E'sprincess - Your husband sounds alot like mine. It is awesome that he has been so helpful, but I can't help but feel guilty. If he wasn't around the first few weeks, I literally don't think I would have eaten because I couldn't stomach looking in the fridge, let alone preparing food. Now that I'm feeling better, I almost feel like I'm taking advantage of him when he tries to do so much around the house while I'm lying on the couch.
kindermom - Awesome shirt! Your DD looks like she will make a great big sister too :)
fashonista - I'm going to look into getting a snoogle too. I just can't get comfortable when I sleep, and I'm afraid that a regular body pillow will give my DH even less of the bed than he already gets!
Mrs. Hill - I'm so happy that the spotting was nothing. Holy cow - you certainly have a baby in there! How exciting!! My Dr's office was the same way about calling. I had a teensy bit one day and chalked it up to some extracurricular activities the evening before (wink, wink) and when I went to my 8w appointment 2 days later the nurse flipped out and yelled at me for not calling. I did call the next time and they literally had me in there 20 minutes later for an u/s to check things out.
babae07 - I wonder how my cat will do once the baby comes too. He's a big scardy cat, even at almost 8 years old. We've wanted to get a second cat for several years now but have held off because we love the personality he's developed around us - he's so sweet and talkative and likes to snuggle on our laps. I don't think he'd hurt the baby, but I think his personality will shift for a good while once there's someone new and demanding in the house.
Working --
I'm 99.9% positive I'll be back full time after maternity leave. We've been doing alot of budget analysis over the past 6 months and it just doesn't make sense for me to stop, even though >60% of my take-home pay will go directly to child care. We're currently on our individual health insurance policies but will consolidate to one after the niblet arrives. Even though my company's family policy is double what his costs, it is much better coverage and will probably be what we go with. Additionally, we know we're going to need to get a bigger house before #2, so whatever extra we can save is going to help us in the long run.
DH really would like one of us to SAH with our kids, and since I have less earning potential than him, it'd be me, but unfortunately he'd need to get a very significant raise to even consider it. If we have a second relatively quickly (like 2-2.5 years from now) he'd probably get his wish because day care for 2 will just cost way too much.
Macaroni --
After all this talk about macaroni yesterday, guess what we had for dinner last night? It really hit the spot, until I got to see it a second time before going to bed. I got coughing, then gagging and up it came. Ugh. Needless to say, I didn't bring the leftovers for lunch today!

MrsHill - that's so cool that you had such a great ultrasound. I have the nuchal test on Tuesday, and I'm hoping it will be fun to see.
----------------
So, I think my m/s is getting slightly better. I still dry heave for a little while every morning after brushing my teeth, but I feel better during the day. Not great, but it's not nearly as distracting at work as it has been the last couple of weeks. I'm scared to even write this down (knock on wood, cross fingers, etc.), but I'm hoping this is a good sign that it is lessening!
babae07
08-04-2006, 08:38 AM
jenah - Much better!:D
fashionista - Thanks! Now can the m/s shut off?:) Good luck on the job hunt.
kindermom - Madelyn is so cute!
MrsHill - I'm glad everything looks okay.
E'sprincess - Hang in there with the m/s. I really feel for you.
juliebug - Sorry the macaroni came back up. I'm almost the same way. I can eat something and not be bothered by it. Then, later, if I see or smell the food I had just eaten, it makes me sick.
fsb2005 - I'm knocking on wood for you. Even if I can't find relief, I hope at least everybody else can.
I have no trouble sleeping on my left side so I was never concerned about rolling onto my back. The bad thing is, I have an earache on my left side since yesterday and hurts to lie on that side. I've never had an earache before so hopefully I can see my doctor today to check it out.

OMG you girls move faster than a 2 yr. old…….whew!~I have been jotting down notes so I can try to remember everything.
Okay so first, I had mac and c last night as well! It was so delicious I damn near ate the whole box by myself!
E's princess- I have a great DH too. Last night I wanted mac and cheese and he didn't so he made himself spaghetti and me m&c. I agree with juliebug, I think DH knows if he doesn't cook I won't eat b/c the smells of the kitchen nauseate me. DH has been incredible with helping around the house too!
He has however been on to me about eating more. I have always had to watch my weight so eating more than usual is very tough for me. I was weighing myself a lot so he hid the scales from me and says I can't have them back until after the baby. (I'm not anorexic or anything I just don't want to have to lose 100 pounds after the baby comes)
MrsHill- Mac is absolutely adorable. I am so glad everything turned out okay yesterday and how awesome of your Dr. to get you in so quickly.
MrsHill & Bombera- DH works for a general contractor as a project manager, so I hear you on the long hours. Hill- DH works primarily on schools as well and they are really rushing to finish things up right now b/f the school year begins.
Kay- Everything will work out fine w/ the job situation, just have faith!
Jenahdawn-I'm so jealous of your creative talents. My sister got the creative genes in our family and left me with none. I was the kid in art class that's drawings always mysteriously disappeared during open house night.
Furbabies- I'm not worried about my younger dog, Jake, because he and I aren't as close and he loves children. However, my older dog, Bailey, who is "momma's little girl" I'm very worried about. She doesn't like children and she wants all of my attention. I have been talking to her about what to expect and giving her lots of extra love, but until the baby comes I won't know what to expect. We are looking for a house with a big yard w/ the hopes that the doggies will be so excited about getting to play and run they won't feel as left out.
Baby shower- Sounds good to me!
Dreams- I have had a reoccurring dream that I have a son and that we are so poor we can't afford a crib or bed, so I place him in a dresser drawer instead. Then I forgot about him and leave him there for 2 days. When I return home he( a newborn) is yelling at me and telling me I'm a bad mommy. It makes me cry every time.
Working- We really don't have a choice. We want to buy a house this fall so we need my income. About 30-40% of my income will go to daycare, which sucks! I would really love to be a SAHM and I hate my job, which makes it even worse. Maybe w/ baby #2 we will have more time to get financially prepared and I will be able to stay at home.

One nice thing about being an "older mommy" is I get tons of ultrasounds
Stars, it's also one of the perks about having more than one in there!
The Snoogle: I thought it looked interesting, until I realized it was $40 or something like that. $40 for that or $8 on a body pillow.....
Creativity: Yeah, it's coming out of my ears. My oldest brother played sax in elementary, middle and high school and was in one musical. My next oldest brother played trombone, was in choir and in all the plays and musicals. He also came back and did our stage make up while I was there (HS) and volunteered at a haunted house for 18 or so years.
Me, besides playing clarinet, bass clarinet (and a bit of sax that I taught myself~~~played through college)), I was in all of the plays and musicals, forensics, was a theater major in college (I can reupholster a couch quick and dirty for you, too), wrote most of a book while in middle school (wish I knew what happened to it), wrote a pathetic screenplay for a class, wrote the beginning of another play for a college cclass, which I really like, so maybe I should continue with that...can sew, make jewelry, etc etc. But, when my friends get together to scrapbook, if I happen to say, looking at their books, "I wish I were that creative..." I usually get looks that are kind of like a jaw dropping smilie....
Our dad sings and plays guitar. Our mom gets into crafty things until she looses interest.

bombera - I don't know what the limit is on lifting things, but I would definitely err on the side of caution. When I was 39 weeks pregnant, I helped lift a huge stainless steel BBQ grill we got from the back of my husband's pickup truck. I lost my mucous plug about an hour later and my water broke 3 hours after that. I'm convinced to this day, lifting that heavy thing brought on my labor. I would hold off lifting heavy things until you are at least 38 weeks along. :p
kindermom - So jealous that you have a flexible schedule. I would soooo love that! What a great idea on telling your sisters and what a cutie little girl you have!
MrsHill - glad that everything turned out ok and the baby was moving about.
fashionista - I don't have the snoogle pillow, but I've heard great things about it.
stars - Love the u/s pic!
E's - So glad that your hubby is so helpful. I think I woudl be a little weirded out if my ex's or DH's ex's were in our lives at all. I figure they are an ex for a reason and they should remain in the past and not be a part of the present or future.
pets - We have two cats and the amount of attention went away greatly after DS was born. At first it was hard on them as they were always under foot wanting my attention, but they have adjusted really well and won't bother me until DS is in bed and I'm all alone. I think having two cats helped as well as they kept each other company. At first, when we set up the crib, they liked jumping up into it, so I had to be really diligent and shoo them out everything I saw them do it. They learned and I haven't had any problems so far with them jumping into his crib. They did love his pacifiers though and I would find pacifiers end up missing those first few weeks because they had stolen them off the coffee table, couch, etc.
insurance - Since some of us talked a little about insurance, I was surprised at how much an uncomplicated labor costs. After DS was born, I added up all the bills from pregnancy and labor and it was $12,000. I was only in the hospital for a day!! My portion ended up being around $1,000. My epidual only cost me $40 after insurance and was the best $40 I ever spent! :p
We have had two meals from the meal prep company and they were fabulous. I'm definitely going to do this again once the baby comes as it is so nice to just throw a meal in the oven and not have to worry about shopping or preparing it. I'm sure it much more healthy than eating out.

You know, the women who I know who have had one done have always said this. Wonder why? :p
I don't plan on being a hero. Chances are I won't get to. My doctor was explaining to me that I could deliver both naturally or deliver one and there could be distress and have to have a c-section (um, recovering from L&D AND a c-section?!?!?) I told him that I'm not so keen on that. So, chances are it's a c-section. But we'll see further along. And I am more than okay with pain meds. For those of you planning on NCB, I applaud you, but I have a VERY low pain tollerance.

fabric design: A friend of mine is a fabric designer. She really likes her job. Her company mainly designs fabrics for beddings and drapes.
architecture: Too funny that so many of us are connected/involved in this field. That's what I'm studying at school. I'm going for an Associates in Architectural Engineering. I can be a detailer with that degree. Then I'll start taking classes to get a degree in architecture.
dreams: I had a crazy dream last night where I died. The "screen" went black when I died and then I woke up. I've heard that dreaming about death means there's going to be a birth. My SIL is scheduled to be induced this Monday. I guess that was what that dream was about.
MrsHill: Nice ultrasound. I'm glad the spotting was nothing.
fashionista: That Snoogle pillow looks so very comfy.
Stars: Cute ultrasound. I'm so jealous you're getting cooler weather!
E'sprincess: I wish my DH would do the dishes. I can understand the worrying about your DH being like your ex. I had issues with trust for a while after being cheated on by an ex-bf. Have you spoken to your DH about what you're feeling? That might help.
Juliebug: Sorry the macaroni didn't stay down long. I hope your m/s goes away.
fsb: I hope your m/s is gone for good, too.
jenjen: Wow, $12,000 for an uncomplicated birth!:eeks: My OB sent me a bill that they want paid in full before the birth and they have only $3000 for an uncomplicated vaginal birth. I just assumed it was the total cost. Now I'm wondering if that was just their cost and doesn't include the hospital stuff. I'll have to ask at my next appt.
I'm in for the baby shower
It is "tax free" weekend for clothes and back to school supplies. Plus, Old Navy is having a sale. So, I'm going to try to take advantage of both and get some more maternity clothes this weekend.

Elenna - If I remember, my doctor's portion of the $12,000 was like $2500 - $3000. The rest was the epidural and the hospital bill for DS and I (which we were in the hospital for 40 hours).

Hi All,
Hope everyone is doing well this morning! Thanks again usafwife for the new thread! You are wonderful!
Babae, usafwife and Juliebug: M/s is terrible. I’m sorry you’re still suffering. ((( )))
Isobel: Hope your doctor can sign you out on limited activity before the holidays. I can’t even imagine how tiring that could be!
PrincessCJ: Glad everything went well at the doctor’s appointment!
Mrs Hill: What a scary dream! I would be upset, too. I am always scared my cat will escape and something will hurt her. I am sorry about the ‘spotting’ – it’s a little scary. The picture of the baby upside down is precious! It came out so clear! Mine was from week 8 and looks like a little Mr. Peanut. Awwww. I’m thrilled that everything is ok now!
Rancher’s Wife: Glad that you enjoyed your vacation. We’re still undecided about ours.
Boilermaker: Sorry about your cold. Summer colds are so annoying (more so when you are pregnant I imagine…) Glad your appointment went well, too!
Aloha: Sorry about your spotting scare. I’m glad you got to the root of the cause.
Bombera: I would love to be able to keep up with everything! I am just to forking exhausted all the time. By the time I walk home from the train, I am beat. I am hoping it’s just the heat, but… And I would definitely let your H carry in that 5 gallon jug.
Fashionista: That smoogle pillow looks comfy. I totally hear ya about the work thing. NYC is a similar area – the cost of living is insane! I hope you can work out the best arrangement for you and your family. Good luck with the job search!
Kindermom: Madelyn is adorable! What a cute way to tell your family. Hope your insomnia gets better, too!
E’s princess: I think feelings like that are normal. You know Eric is not Eddie, but the ex is a little close for comfort (even if she is completely nice, etc.) It’s not like you’re going to ostracize her, it’s just a feeling you have. It’s okay to be human!
Stars: Congrats on graduating to your OB! What a wonderful feeling! You u/s picture is adorable, too.
Jenahdawn: Wow! You do sound creative. Want to come to NY and help reupholster? Ha ha.
Jenjen: Glad the meals were tasty! I wish we had that service.
Elenna: Good luck shopping! Report back with your good finds!
Work: Yes, I am planning to return to work. I don’t know how it’ll all work out (daycare, etc.) but I hope I’ll get it figured out.
Pets: Well, we’re already not home a helluva lot, so unfortunately Smack is on her own more than I’d like anyway. I think she’ll actually love the extra time I will be home when on maternity leave. (She will, however, hate that she won’t be the only one on my lap. She follows me everywhere and *always* has to be on my lap.)
Epidural: I’m all for it. A happy mommy = a happy baby!
Baby shower: I’m up, too!
================================
So, things are really good by me. Just not into work that much lately, which is terrible. I just got a promotion, so I should be in hyperdrive, but I feel like motivation is going backwards! Yikes. I am sleeping really well. I am eating well. I still fit into my clothes but I bought two ‘larger’-sized skirts to transition. No big complaints. Now I just need to get on finding my new OB. *Sigh*. What a pain in the ass.
I have a confession. I’ve never actually eaten mac and cheese. I tried a bite in college, but everyone said I shouldn’t judge the concoction by that, so it doesn’t count. (I’ve also never eaten a PB&J. I like peanut butter and I like jelly, but together they just look wrong.)

Boilermaker- Thanks for the codes!!!
Wasabi- I can't believe you have never tried M&C....You have to try it....I'm not a PB&J fan so I don't care about that, but M&C I love!
Elenna- I'm hitting up old navy as well this weekend!
E''s~ love your new avator!
Have a good weekend everyone!
I'm team yellow, I can't wait any longer than I have to!
Oh BTW~ I Told work today and they were totally cool about it! No questions or anything. My boss said congratulations and let me know if you need anything, that was it. I think she was scared I was about to quit when I went into her office, so hearing I was preg was a relief. She was also happy that I was planning to come back to work pp. WHEW! I am so glad the cat's out!

I'll make the updates and send the update to MSH on Sunday evening as I won't be back until then (and I don't think I'll have access to the internet). Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm praying for no m/s.

12 weeks and 2 days- second trimester! Yaaay!!!
I'm going to start updating here (I've only read to page six) because there's so much!!!
usawife Great job on the new thread! I was so excited to see "second trimester!"
body pillows I just have a regular one- I love it, but I've used one for years. I sleep on my side, so it's been an easy adjustment for me
elenna I SO worry about our 2 furbabies and how they will be once the baby comes! We have 2 toy fox terriers and they are the loves of our life. Hopefully all will be well.
NIP I know I'm in the minority, but I have issues with it. A few times I have seen a woman whip out a boob and to be honest it made me very uncomfortable. I know it's better for the baby though, so I am working on getting over it. I talked at length with a good friend who had a baby a few months ago, and she was very reassuring. We went out to dinner last night, and the baby was fussing and she started nursing, and I didn't even notice! That made me feel much better. I still can't ever imagine doing it myself though.
MrsHill Great ultrasound!!!
Working after the baby I'm in a very lucky position that it's optional, but I can't ever imagine being a SAHM- I love my work too much. DH and I have the shared trait of being workaholics :) I contract now part-time and it's ideal, but I want to go FT after the baby is born. (Oh, I'm in finance/commercial lending).
macaroni now I want it! LOL
fsb can you post how your nuchal test goes? I have mine on Thursday.

me Hanging in there. The m/s comes and goes, but for me, now it's worse in the morning.
I finally gained 3 pounds. My stomach is now sticking out and I am almost out of my regular suits and pants : ( Nylons are becoming a new form of torture- they press right on my bladder- youch.
Have another OB appointment on Tuesday and first trimester screening on Thursday.
DH decided to rent a doppler! Can't wait to get that. Also started taking a prenatal yoga class- it's wonderful.

Tuesday was my last appt w/ my RE. I finally graduated!!! :D Had my first regular OB appointment yesterday and everything went well. The only thing that bothered me was that she didn't even listen for the baby's hb w/ the doppler. She did a pap, routine prenatal exam, tests and then we sat down to talk about nutrition, weight gain, etc.
Next week (friday) is our nuchal translucency u/s. I can't wait to see our little peanut again.
********************************
Boilermaker: Thanks for those shopping codes. Now I have an excuse to shop online!
MrsHill: Glad to hear that everything went well w/ your u/s. I had spotting at 9 weeks and it was so scary. BTW, I remember you from WC. I was scorpiobride over there!
********************************
Yes, to the baby shower idea!
Body PIllow: I've been using regular pillows until this point, and they're working fine. Although I think I need to invest in a few more.
Working after baby: Our original plan was for me to stay home for 1 year after the baby is born. I'm considering offering to work from home PT starting at about 4 months. So we'll see.
Epidural: Yes please! :D
Macaroni: Yummm!!!

I'm just copying and posting from my LJ (and I don't want to talk about it):
Long night last night:
Last night we (I) spent several hours in the ER.
Just before Matt came home (he was on his way) I got up to go to the bathroom and had LOTS of heavy bleeding. But, no pain. Still, freaked out.
Got to the ER. Got in rather quickly. They did a pelvic. Matt was at the wrong end and had to get up and move by me. (After they were done, I could see why, the sheet had a large blood spot on it.)
I tried to keep my bawling to when only Matt was in the room. But, the poor phlobotomist. I barely spoke to her, just sat there with tears streaming down my face. She took six vials and kept asking if there was anything she could do for me. No, thanks....
A bit later, the nurse came back in. They did a catheter since they needed a clean sample. And, of course, even with the catheter in, my bladder was shy. Barely anything. Got up to go to the bathroom and the shyness went away. Of course.
And a bit later, the doc came back in with a mini US machine. Just before she came back in, I told Matt I was preparing for the worst, either one or none. He said he thought there would still be two. I said I hoped he was right, but I didn't want to get my hopes up too high. So, she comes in and said I was far enough along that they probably wouldn't have to use the dildo cam.
Puts the gel on and instantly sees two wiggling blobs. Of course, I teared up.
Next thing I know, I was being pushed upstairs for another US. I get up there, not only did she see two wigglers, but strong HBs, 163 and 167, but she let us hear them for the first time, which, of course, made me cry.
She was having a hard time getting individual reads because they are RIGHTNEXTTOEACHOTHER. There's plenty of room for them, but apparantly they wanted to wrestle last night. I can't tell you how good that felt to see them, though.
At the tail end of it, there was a knock at the door. Rebecca came in and sat and talked to us for a while and brought me back down and talked. REALLY helped get my mind off of everything.
So, the doctor came back in. She said it still could be a sign of an early miscarriage, but it looks like it's more of a chance of placenta previa, since the placenta is so low.
I asked if I could just consider myself high risk and she said yes, definitely.
As they get bigger, they could help rectify the situation, but if not, I WILL go on bedrest. And I will be monitored very closely from now until it either clears itself up or I have them.
I'm still bleeding a bit, mostly just when I wipe. I'm pale and sore and tired today. But no cramping or anything.
I have to go in to see a doctor on Monday. (Not mine since the resident program is in transition currently), but the doc last night (a new resident) agreed that seeing a resident who will be at the hospital where all of the specialists are is a good thing.
Otherwise, I feel exhausted, mentally, and pretty beat, physically. And I have never prayed as much as I have last night.

Jenah: OMG, what a scare. Glad to hear that your u/s looked good and the babies were okay. I'm be praying for you too. I know when I had my week of spotting, I've never prayed so much or so hard in my life. It's amazing how attached we are to these little people after just a few months.

Jena~ I am so glad everything is okay!! My heart just dropped when I saw the beginning of your post. Take care of yourself!
Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I am planning to talk to my doctor about going out at the beginning of December since that will at least give them extra help through Thanksgiving. The babies may have other ideas though. ;)
Pets: We do worry about our little baby, i.e. the dog. She is only six pounds so I can't imagine her getting in the way much. There will be room for her even with two kids. We are planning all the tricks to get her to love the babies. She adores toddlers so at least we know there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
Work: I don't think I will be going back as daycare for two kids would eat up almost all of my salary. We are kind of looking into Au Pairs but more than likely I will be a SAHM.
Baby Shower: count me in!

Happy Monday everyone.
Jenah, I am so glad everything turned out ok. I can't imagine how scared you must have been. It's a reminder how much of a blessing this is to all of us.
In regards to working, ideally I would like to come back part time. My company lets people do that in other areas, but I'm going to see what I can negotiate in my area. Otherwise, I'm not sure what I'll do.

Jenadawn: I really hope your appointment today goes good. My thoughts are with you.
ladybug: Congrats for gratuating from your RE.
la_bride: Sorry your're still having m/s.
I went maternity shopping this weekend. It was really nice shopping without a sales tax. I got one top from Old Navy (I really didn't like most of their maternity tops) and 5 tops from Motherhood Maternity (they were having a sale). Motherhood had a strap on belly in the dressing rooms. I had no idea how to put it on/which way was up (it was teardrop shaped) so I had to ask the clerk.:o I felt really stupid for having to ask.
Both my hip joints really started hurting last night. It doesn't feel like stretching. The pain is right in the joints. It made it pretty much impossible to sleep on either side. I slept on my back all night. I hope it was ok to do that. Does anyone remember when we're supposed to stop sleeping on our backs? My hips still hurt this morning.

jenahdawn- Please keep us posted...you girls on here feel like family to me and your worries become my worries. I'll say prayers for you and your wigglers throughout the day!
elenna- Sorry your hips are bothering you. I think you are okay sleeping on your back for another couple of weeks. My book says 16-20 weeks.
I tried to go shopping this weekend, but got frusterated instead, Nothing fit. Maternity is too big and misses tops are too short. I want tops that are longer than regular, but not down over my butt. I guess in a couple of weeks I'll be bigger anyways and won't have to worry about this, but being in between sizes is hard.
Happy Monday! Hope the majority of you had a realxing weekend.

Elenna, 16 weeks.
Everybody else: My appt is at 2:45 today, so I will have an update then, but thanks for the good thoughts.
Still having some dark brown, but still no cramping, which is good. The nurse I talked to said I am high risk and also confirmed what some people already figured about me: I'm "complicated"

I almost cried reading your post! When you said you instantly saw "two wigglers" I practically cheered out loud! I am so happy they are wrestling with each other and not in trouble. Please let us know how your appt. goes today. I know we are all praying for you and the babies. I can't even imagine how scary that is. I will pray that it is nothing and if it is previa, that it will clear up on it's own. Please take it easy and make your dh wait on you hand and foot! I can't wait to "meet" all of our babies and that means TWO from each of you and isobel!
So glad that all is well!

jenah: I'm so glad everything's OK and you got to see both of your babies. What a relief!!! I'm sorry you had to go through that.
E'sprincess: Thanks for the compliments on Landon's room. I love it and I think it will grow w/ him. I ran into the girl that did his room last weekend and told her she'd be having another room to do for me around sometime in Janurary! She does amazing work. We did tell her what we wanted, but I couldn't have dreamed it would turn out so neat.
mrs. hill: Nice u/s pics., glad to hear everything is good w/ the baby. Such a relief to see them on the u/s. I have friends who go to dr.'s who do an u/s at every visit, I wish mine did that.
Speaking of dr.'s appt.'s, I have mine tomorrow, he's gonna listen for the h/b, which makes me a nervous wreck. I was the same way w/ Landon when I went to the appt. when he listened for the first time. I got myself so worked up, my blood pressure was through the roof when I got to my appt., hopefully I won't be that bad tomorrow! My dr. knows how I am though.

Jen - Yikes!!! As one that was diagnosed with placenta previa, I can totally relate to your emotional state. I found out by the U/S technician asking me if I was having any bleeding and when I said no, she said 'hmmm'. I spent three days freaking out until I had an OB appt. He put me on pelvic rest (no DTD, internal exams or heavy lifting) for 6 weeks (I didn't have any internals until after the 34th week). I never had any bleeding, but had many U/S's to monitor it. At 34 wks, I had a final U/S and the placenta had moved back up to where it should have been and all was well.
Sorry to hear those are still experiencing m/s. Mine is better, but still hanging out. The noticeable bloating has diminished greatly tho and I am a bit concerned. I had a pair of linen pants that were rather snug last week and when I wore them today, they are a little to loose to almost wear. I'm having to cinch the waist rather tightly.
I have my second OB appt on Wednesday. They'll listen for the h/b and do blood work. DH can't believe I'm 12 weeks already. He'll be home Friday. Finally!!!! DD asks every hour where daddy is. Then she answers herself by saying he's at work. Love that little mad hatter.
jenahdawn
08-07-2006, 11:40 AM
Yeah, I'm on pelvic rest and not allowed to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. I told the nurse that I have no desire to get it on right now anyway, and if I did have extra energy, it would go to unpacking....but I can't do that either. (I packed boxes of books, and those will be unpacked next when the last coat of paint is dried and the bookshelves are anchored.)
Sitting doing nothing is driving me nuts. And it's only been a few hours.
Maybe I should find another "project" (extra long cross stitich, puzzles, solve the world's problems, study medicine....) to do.

mrsski- My clothes are fitting super loose lately too and previously everything was so tight I could barely breath......I don't know what the deal is.
Previa-?- placenta is sitting too low? Does the OB feel this during exams?
Rancherswife- I looked up your pics of the nursery and they are soo cute! If we have a boy I am stealing your ideas! DH grew up on a ranch so he has tons of big belt buckles and hats and baby boots that we can use to decorate. I was showing him your pics and it was the first time I've seen him actually get excited about decorationg the nursery.

Placenta previa is found through either the routine U/S or if there is heavy bleeding without any cramping or pain (like Jenah). And it's a random thing. It's not genetic and not caused by anything. The percentage is higher in older women (over 40 I thought) and heavy smokers. And if you have it in one pregnancy, that doesn't mean you'll have it in future pregnancies.
I did a lot of research on this and pretty much had myself totally freaked out for a while. It was exhausting because every time I went to the bathroom, I was scared to wipe. If I felt damp at all, I'd run to the bathroom close to tears because I thought I was bleeding. And then I was upset about possibly having to have a C-Section without it being an option.
I'm anxious to hear from Jenah and her appointment.
Jenah - what about knitting or crocheting? What about reading the whole Encyclopieda Britannica :D. Hang in there honey. You could always start a diary/scrapbook for the Wiggly-Ones.

Boilermaker ~ Thanks for posting those codes. I love ON. Although I didn’t get them until today, it’s the thought that counts.
Wasabi ~ Thanks for making me feel like I’m still human and I am allowed to ‘have” these feeling.
I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea, I’m very open with Eric, we talk all the time. I just hate that I still have old issues that really don’t involved or caused by him… It’s not fair to him. Ya know? But I did kinda chat with him this weekend. But we got side tracked and I never brought it back up again… I have an awesome Husband and he means everything to me.
OMG, You have NEVER had Mac and Cheese or PB and J…Oh girly… Your missing out… I love those and even together is even better… esp. on toast….Yummy… umm now I’m hungry.
PrincessCJ81 ~ Yeah for finally telling them.. Thanks for the compliments on my Avatar. I love looking at my little one.
USAFwife ~ Have a great weekend. See ya when you get back.
Jenah ~ OMG, As I started reading this my eyes were welling up with tears, I’ll admit it I was kinda preparing myself for what I was about to read… I’m SO GLAD I was wrong. I’m so glad that you were able to hear the heartbeats and the u/s looked good and the babies were okay. You’re in my thoughts and prayers for a Safe and Healthy 9 months.
QOTD ~ When Eric and I first found out we were preg. My doctor was very strict. No DTD, lifting, nothing…because I had a miscarriage 10 years ago and was being cautious. so now that we can, I’m still a little nervous. We “loved” being together and now I’m lucky if we do once a week or even less sometimes. Is this normal, or am I being paranoid?
Awe.. Jenah… Those are some fighting words there… I LOVE Days… I have watched since I was 8, I even record them so I can watch them when I get home… LOL
Weekend recap… So Friday I went to another “purse party” lol and then out to dinner with some friends for her birthday… Wasn’t feeling good so we came home and vegetated.
Saturday ~ just did some stuff around town, Got my 30 lbs cat to the pet shop to be bathe’ finally. Picked him back up, and now Chloe won’t have anything to do with him.. Hiss and snarling, meowing really loud.. lol The shampoo, they used was medicated and she obviously doesn’t like the smell. So Sunday I gave her a bath, (Just put her in the shower with me, she’s only 6lbs, she didn’t like that either. LOL I thought it would help with her hissing at Clyde but nope it didn’t. She’s 6lbs and he’s 30 lbs, but he “runs” from here…LOL.. That night, just like old times Eric brought the matterace out of the bedroom and put it in the living room… It was awesome.. We use to do this in our old house all the time. So we slept in the living room.
Sunday ~ Went to my 3 year old god-daughters b-day party, had a nice time, but the hotdogs and beans weren’t agreeing with me and had to leave early. AS soon as I got home… YEP up they came… UGH.. When is this going to stop.
That’s about it… Nice relaxing weekend.
Jen

LaBride: Sorry about the m/s. Hope it passes. I have my nuchal test on Thursday, too (I am getting the combined u/s + blood test). When did they tell you you would get the results?
Ladybug 777: Congrats on being graduated from your RE!
Elenna: Sorry for the hip pain – how uncomfortable… Congrats on the great shopping finds!
rancher’swife: Good luck at your appointment tomorrow! I know everything will be fine, but it’s no use trying to stop the worry.
MrsSki: Good luck with your appointment, too. Your daughter sounds too cute. Where is your H working (sorry if you’re repeating yourself…)?
E's princess: :D No worries. We've all been there with different things. It *is* human to have feelings we can't control and don't want!
-------------------------------------------------
Nothing doing with me. Had an absolutely crazy weekend of running around (as usual). I really just want to chill out around the house and unpack, etc.. We are booked every day of every weekend until after Labor Day. It makes me want to cry. I know, I know. I have to learn to start saying no. :)
A small rant ~ H is annoying me. He still hasn’t told his family (only his mother knows) and I’ve hung out with them three times in the last two weeks. I am tired of pretending to drink and making excuses as to why I’m tired, etc. I am so ticked I want to choke him. If he doesn’t tell them, I will. I am excited damnit and I want to share! ~End of rant

Wasabi - tell them already!!!! Good heavens.
DH is a Sargeant in the Army. He's currently at a two week training in Ft. McCoy, WI. He comes home Friday for two weeks and then goes on a project for 5 straight weeks in Indiana. I'm WAY bummed, but I must say, the money and benefits make it totally worth it. I work full time and commute 2 hours a day, so the three hours I have each night with DD keep me from losing my mind totally. Granted, DD is almost 2.5 and is very cantankerous, but she can make me laugh like nothing else. Plus she makes me exercise each night and I wouldn't otherwise.
Count me in for the baby shower.
I've got to run. My days end at 4pm this week so I can get Madi before the sitter puts her at the curb (joking). I don't get charged extra for being late, but I feel guilty that she's there at 7am and I can't get her until 5:45. She's normally home for an hour by that time with DH.
Have a good night Moms.

I had a post typed out over the weekend but lost the internet connection. GRR!!!
fashionista and everyone else ~ Thank you for the compliments.
stars ~ Cute u/s pic!
Jen ~ Yes, I had m/s until I was 25 wks. Then it finally went away but made a return visit during my 3rd trimester. And then there was my labor & delivery. I was sick for nearly 3 hours and tried several meds before I finally got one that worked. They said it was because of my body's natural response to pain (how nice!) and the fact that I had such severe m/s. I spent much of the weekend in the bathroom so it was such a fun trip!
Body Pillow ~ I just bought a regular one ($10) when I was pregnant with DD. I didn't see the need to get the more expensive one. I have trouble enough sleeping on my left side (even though I used to like it) thanks to a fall on the ice 11 years ago that did quite a number to my left arm. I can no longer straighten it and have nerve damage. The ER told me it was not broke the day it happened but my ortho says that something definitely was very wrong for it to cause the damage it did. He also says that the ER should have called one of them for a consult just to be safe.
Pets ~ We wondered how our indoor kitty would do with the adjustment of a little one with DD last time. He was our baby for a while before and thought that maybe he'd get jealous. After we bought and assembled the crib he would lay in it as if it was his own big we had bought for him. So then I started putting things in the crib to keep him out of it. That didn't work and he'd just move things out of his way until he got a spot cleared that he could lay in. Once we brought DD home he was wonderful. When he's had enough he gets up and walks away. Since DD started crawling she now chases after him when he leaves. And baby gates are no problem for him. He just scales right over them (he's never been one that was afraid of heights as he would spend his days walking on top of the vertical blinds before we moved, sitting on top of the entertainment center, or grandfather clock that DH's dad made. The rest of the animals are outside and don't come in. Even our kitty has taken to wanting to be outside and loves it (something he never would have done prior to our move).
Working ~ I'm a SAHM. We agreed that when we had kids that one of us would be home while they were. My job allows me to be able to work from home if I choose. I had to quit for health reasons but would like to start back but only doing it part time (i.e. while the kids are napping/asleep). We just do not feel comfortable putting our kids in daycare and paying for 2 would be expensive. I absolutely loved my babysitter but she was a rare find. Her two daughters are like the sisters I never had (one is a year older than me and the other is a couple of years younger) and she and her husband are like second parents to me. We all even went on a vacation one year. Everyone said we'd come home mad/not speaking to each other but we were stronger. We helped them move when they moved away about 10 years later. Now they are even further away so we only get to talk on the phone and email. How I miss them and wish they still lived closer.
Epidural ~ I'm on the fence about it this time. I enjoyed the pain relief I was able to experience after I got it but it was only a little over an hour before it got turned down. Then it wasn't long until I started feeling more of the contractions. By the time I was in transition I had no pain relief and was feeling full strength contractions. I've had a few issues during the past 13 months because of the epi as well (back pain/ache, injection site tenderness/sore, and numbness). I went last time as long as I could (and didn't get it in until I was 7 cm, which is the cut off limit at the hospital where I gave birth) before I got it. If I hadn't been having back labor and been so sick before I don't think I would have gotten it.
creativity ~ I played piano. I also make jewelry. When we got married I made each of my bridesmaids and matron of honor a bracelet. My DH and I made a lot of the things we had in our wedding (floral arrangements, programs, unity candle arrangment, wish jar/cards, thank you magnets, and a few other things).
wasabi ~ Thanks. I'm thinking that it's going to be sticking around for a little while longer unfortunately.
Jenah ~ OMG! Sorry about the scare. I know when I had my weeks of constant spotting I never prayed so much as I did then especially having gone through a m/c before. I know it's not easy but try not to worry (been there myself and I know it's not easy to do).
Does anyone remember when we're supposed to stop sleeping on our backs? ~ If I remember correctly somewhere around 15 wks but that's also flat on your back. I've never been able to sleep flat on my back in my life as it kills my lower back. I always sleep with at least two pillows under my head each night. I had several pillows that propped me up so I wasn't laying flat on my back.
Bed Rest ~ Having been on it with DD, I can say it's no fun. I am hoping to avoid it this time but we will have to see if that happens or not. Something tells me that it will happen again though. A laptop and a wireless internet connection are very good company for being on bedrest. As is a good DVD supply.
Placenta Previa ~ It's usually diagnosed via u/s or if you have heavy bleeding that isn't accompanied by pain or cramping. You can be at risk for having if you've had prior uterine surgery or a prior c-section.
MrsSki ~ Another military wife. I'll send you a PM soon.

Well, my m/s is still here. I just keep telling myself that it is all worth it in the end even though it may not feel like it right now. We didn't have a really great weekend and spent a good portion of Friday evening looking for a hotel room (long story and I don't feel like getting into right now). Finally three hours after we got there we found one. Saturday we did a little shopping. I got some shirts (on sale) at Old Navy (most of the maternity t-shirts I have are HUGE since I was 8/9 months pregnant in May/June last time). We even got DD some things that were marked down as well. And we found an item we'd been hunting for DD to play with for the past 7 months. And thanks to who ever it was that recommended the book, Great Expectations. It's wonderful!

12 weeks 5 days
jenah sorry for your scary experience- I can relate all too well. Good to know you had a better outcome than me though. I had placenta previa too- I was mostly on bedrest for the first 6 weeks- not so fun. I also got a cerclage- not a big deal, but then I've been through a lot of procedures to get here so it's all relative. Hopefully you are taking it easy.
I'm in for the shower!
This weekend, DH dragged me out shopping. Maternity stores scare me and I haven't wanted to go into any, but I wear closely fitted suits and nylons and tailored pants to work and they were starting to really hurt! I've only gained 3pounds, but I've always had a flat, muscular stomach so it's been hard to see it get bigger. Anyway, I found some great deals at Gap Maternity (like $7 shirts!) and perfect work clothes at Mimi Maternity (also on clearance.)
Finally put a lot of my suits away in storage. I miss them already, but it's for a good cause!

Jenah--What an awful scare! I hope that you got more information at your appt today and are able to relax a little.
Pets--We have a very old dog who is in ill health. We hope that he'll make it at least another year or longer. He moves very slowly and definitely won't be a concern around a baby although he doesn't much care for kids. My DH doesn't want to get another dog right away if he doesn't make it.
I went maternity shopping last week and had a really frustrating experience at Old Navy. I found these black pants on the 75% rack that didn't have a tag. I tried to track down the price and after talking with several people it turned out they couldn't find a price for it. I guess they can't estimate a price :confused: so I had to skip buying it . My experience with Old Navy has been fine online so I think I'll stick with that.

Copied from LJ (edited a bit because, well, some isn't that exciting)
What I learned:
Nothing.
Well, actually, I learned that two idiot teenagers should not procreate, but they did anyway, and daddy-to-be is convinced that they are pretty safe since they are having a boy and he can't get pregnant....until his SLIGHTLY more intelligent young girlfriend pointed out that he can GET someone pregnant.
I also learned that "fitting you in" means you may not get seen for 2 hours, so why show up early?
I also learned that one (and probably more) residents are already envious of mine before he's even there because he's got twins (No, I have twins, he's treating me) and one called down the hallway, "Get me some twins!"
Anyways....a "pleasant" (yes, sarcasm) nurse came in, used the mini doppler, found MY heartbeat.
Then a res. came in. He told me that it's eaither an early miscarriage (but he isn't 100% convinced), placenta previa (which he isn't convinced about either), or (what he thinks) my cervix could have been irritated and one of the vessels broke and was bleeding and the brown is the old dried up stuff that was jostled with an irritation. But, when he asked me if the nurse heard the HBs, I said, "Mine..." he said, "Let me try" and found them. They are STILL rightontopofeachother. Um, babies, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SPACE WHILE YOU CAN!
BUT, he said there's nothing to do but wait, also that Thursday's US should give us a bit of an idea about the placenta previa possibility.
Oh, and Weds, I am being fitted for a maternity belt because of my back problems and was told to discuss with my resident doing PT for my back as well otherwise it's going to be a LONG 6 months.
Before the appt, Matt and I wandered around Michael's to get me a few projects (I will be making a chenile throw I've wanted to do for a while) and spent a pile of money on beads/findings/fun stuff that I am pretty excited about. (Oh, my husband, if I haven't told you already, has told me, almost every time I say I'd like to take it easy for the next few days, "You can take it easy until they get here if you want!")
Afterwards, we went to Best Buy to get an idea about price for a larger (HD ready) tv, laptops. (He thinks I'll be on bedrest by October, MAYBE November, my mom thinks I'll be in the hospital before Christmas, I'm saying no to both). So, if the hospital would say no to a laptop, then trying a portable DVD player.
~~~~~~~~~~~
LA, I'm hoping, when all is said and done, it's a good outcome here, too. And it means a lot to hear you say that!
USA: You can be at risk for having if you've had prior uterine surgery or a prior c-section.
I'd never heard that....hmmm...I had surgery in January (lap) on a 2 1/2 inch ovarian cyst on my right ovary....guess I never even thought of a connection between the two. My appt is after my US though, so I may not have to worry.
Wow, lots going on in the thread!
jenahdawn - So glad your little ones are doing ok! Hope the u/s on Thursday sheds some light.
Sorry for those of you still experiencing morning sickness. Mine has actually been pretty good the last few days so I'm going to enjoy them while I can.
DS is now army crawling, so that is keeping me more busy now. I use to be able to plop him down in the center of the living room with some toys and could cook dinner, but now, the little man crawls after the cats, crawls into the kitchen, crawls to where the DVDs are, crawls to the cat's water dish just about everywhere he isn't suppose to be. :p
I'm on LJ as well. My username is the same over there as well. If you want friended, just let me know your username.
Back from the nuchal translucency! OMG, it was SO FUN to see the baby moving around in there. It looked like it was having convulsions or something it was moving so much at first. And just amazing to see hands and feet and everything! I highly recommend the nuchal if only to get a great peek at the baby!
The tech said the nuchal fold measurement was fine -- it's supposed to be under 3mm, and it was like 1.2-1.3 mm. I'm supposed to call my doctor in a week for the full results with the blood test.
This was also the first ultrasound DH has seen, and he loooooooved it. We also heard the heartbeat for the first time.
The tech said I was measuring at 13 weeks, which is odd because there is no way I could be that far along (I was charting), but I think we're hitting the stage where there can be variations in size? The tech told us the crown to rump length was 6cm, but DH said he could see on the screen that it said 6.6cm. :)
Here are a couple of the ultrasound shots:
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e158/fsb2005/ultrasounds/pic3_noname.jpg
I love that you can see the little hand in this one:
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e158/fsb2005/ultrasounds/pic4_noname.jpg
ETA: I think this is actually a profile shot of the baby, but it's a little creepy if you imagine those two black dots on the head as the orbital holes, like a skeleton. Eww, creepout city. :)
Also, my Big U/S is scheduled for September 26. They wanted to make it at 20 weeks, and counted as if I were 13 weeks (even though I know I'm 12 weeks). I didn't say anything -- quite happy to have it at 19 weeks instead. ;)
Oh and I don't think I've said -- I'm team yellow (that's the one that will be finding out, right?).
Jenah - sorry that you don't really know more than you did before sitting for 2 hours and listening to some unintelligent parents-to-be. And some of those residents sound like they are still carrying around their high school personalities. Geesh.
usafwife - I was actually going to PM you as I am a recent military wife (DH has been in the reserves for 10 years and recently decided to go active) and have a few questions on a couple things.
jenjen - Watch out!!! That army crawl won't last long:eek:! That little one will figure out those knees will propel him a whole lot faster. And then the pulling up on anything he can grab will follow within a second of actual crawling. It's GREAT fun!!! I loved every minute of it.
fsb - cute u/s pics! So glad all went well.
M/S has started to finally let up for me. It's a bit rough right around dinnertime, but I've been kinda busy at home and have been eating a bit later and on the move instead of at the table and slow.
I had egg salad for dinner last night and lunch today. It was SOOOO good. And normally egg salad kinda grosses me out. I did make a version of a caprese salad for a baby shower this afternoon and am dying to get into it. I just love those little grape tomatoes and fresh mozarella swimming around in balsamic vinegar. MMMMMMMM....and I get cake later.....MMMMMMMM...
I also bought those yummy chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches for DD and I to share in the evenings after our walk. Those are my all time favorite treat ever and I just can't seem to really want it. Not like I want a Coke in the afternoon or a half a jar of dill pickle slices. I bet I'm having a boy. With DD, it was junk and sweets all the time. I would cry for chocolate, that's how bad it was. This one, I'm crying because I don't want sweets or junk. Must be why the constipation finally worked itself out and has stayed way....all those fruits and grains :o .
Jenahdawn: I'm sorry you don't know anything yet. I hope it was at least a bit reassuring that you and the babies are still ok.
fsb: Cute ultrasound pics. That second one is kinda creepy when you view the two black spots as eyes.:)
MrsSki: I had an egg salad sandwich as a pre-dinner snack last night. It was really good (I added celery, onion, pickle to it).
Phillytiger: I'm so looking forward to popping. I'm bigger, but I still just look fat.
Aloha: Sounds like a few of us are disappointed with shopping at Old Navy.
Our upstair's A/C went out yesterday. DH and I got home it felt like it was 120 degrees upstairs. We camped out downstairs last night (we haven't switched around the rooms, yet). So, I didn't sleep well. The A/C repair people came out this afternoon and repaired our unit very quickly. Appearently ants got into our A/C unit and were preventing connections from being made.:rolleyes: We're very glad it wasn't something expensive.
FSB: LOL about not being reincarnated as a mouse!!! Definatley wouldn't be my first choice. Of course I don't think I want to be the ants in the a/c unit either.
Jenah- too funny about the kids in the dr's office. But, I'm glad your wigglers are staying strong. Twins are known for comforting one another...they may be snuggling in the womb.
Elenna - MIL emailed me and told me about that being on the news last night... and then of course there was the article in the paper this morning. And I went in for my 2nd ultrasound in a week today. :rolleyes: Only one more for me at ~18 weeks though.
Jenah - I'm sorry to hear about your scare! But I'm glad all three of you are doing as well as you are. :)
USAFWife - Glad you are enjoying Great Expectations. My neighbor loaned me a bunch of pregnancy books too and Great Expectations is still my favorite book out of all of them.
FSB - Glad you had fun at your appointment. I kinda thought you might! Isn't seeing a moving baby just AWESOME?? :D
Had my Dr's appointment today. Everything looks great. They did an U/S because he thought that at 11w2d we might not be able to hear the HB via doppler. The picture doesn't look much different than it did last week. Although if you compare the 10w4d ultrasound (http://www.flickr.com/photos/seahills/206076868/) with the 11w2d ultrasound, it's amazing how much bigger the baby is in the second one! Who knows if that is because the wand was closer or if s/he's actually bigger. Maybe a bit of both. Here's the one from today:
http://static.flickr.com/73/210359755_39302251bc.jpg?v=0
Next appointment is September 7.
So here's a question maybe the RO's can answer... Why do we tell each other when our appointments are and have them listed in the front? Is this a mommy-group-bonding thing?
We are doing really well. Not sure when I got to 11 weeks though.
Thank you!!! I feel the same way. Time is going by SOOO much faster w/ this pgcy, than it did w/ Landon. It must have something to do w/ a certain 14 mo. old little boy who keeps me on my toes ALL DAY LONG!
I hear ya on the climbing too. I walked out of the room for literally 30 seconds a couple of weeks ago and came back into the kitchen to find him dancing on top of the table! Nice! They move SOOOOO fast! It's CRAZY!
Had my dr.'s appt. today. Got to hear the h/b, such a good sound! I love it. Short, but sweet appt., go back 9/5.
I need to read back a few pages I guess. I'm not sure what the talk is about a shower?
jenah ~ Sorry that you don't know more than you did before your appt.
jenjen ~ That army craw thing won't last long if your DS is anything like my DD. I think DD did the army crawl thing for maybe a few days and then it was full fledged hands and knees crawling. She can get anywhere and to anything she wants now. Walking isn't too far off in the future for her.
fsb ~ Yay for a good scan! Don't worry about the baby measuring a week ahead right now. When I had my second u/s with DD, she was measuring 5 days ahead of what my EDD said. Your little one could have had an early growth spurt. Love the u/s pics! I have one of DD and she has her hand up by her head like she is saluting. I love the caption that the u/s tech put on it.
Kat ~ Oh, yes, the fun climbing stage. It wasn't one of my favorites.
MrsSki ~ Feel free to ask me anything. I'll be looking for your PM soon.
Jen ~ I'll be your due date twin (even though I'm actually due a day before you). Of course when we had our first u/s little one was measuring 5 days ahead (I see a pattern developing here) so I actually could be due date twins with phillytiger.
u/s article ~ I haven't read the article but I had a total of 5 u/s and have known more than one friend who had to have weekly u/s done (they each had two different reasons for getting them...one had too little fluid and the other one had her water break at 17/18 wks). DD is fine and my friend's little ones are fine as well. I wouldn't worry about it but I wouldn't schedule a ton of u/s either.
MrsHill ~ I couldn't remember who recommended the book but I've found it very helpful this time around (even though I've already been through it once before things are little different this time around). Love the u/s pic!
Kat and rancherswife ~ I'm right there with you. I definitely think that things are going much faster with this one.
rancherswife ~ Yay for getting to hear the h/b!
The secret baby shower is something that I saw in another mommy-to-be thread. Those that wanted to signed up, were assigned a buddy, bought a gift, and then sent it to their buddy. When I first read about it they were going to keep their ID secret but they each got to choose to let their buddy know ahead of time or keep it secret. There was a deadline set as to when the gifts needed to be mailed by. When the person received their gift, they would post that they received their gift and what it was. If their buddy was secret then they would try to guess as to who they thought it was.
The mommies were asked to give hints (gender's - if they knew, themes, colors, items that they would like, links to registries, etc). The group would decide upon a spending limit as well.
Feel free to ask questions (here or send me a PM). Let me know if you still have questions.
We had the nuchal translucency today and it was amazing. I am nearly crying thinking about watching them. First off we were so glad to see them both there after everything we had read about Vanishing Twin Syndrome. Baby A was very chill, just hanging out sleeping and sucking his thumb (for some reason I automatically started calling Baby A him). The Dr. kept jiggling the baby trying to get it to move so she could measure the neck but she finally gave up and moved onto Baby B. B was completely flipping out, moving around and kicking like mad. I am sure I will not be so happy about that in a few months. She moved back to Baby A and right as she did he rolled over on his side. It was crazy seeing this tiny baby inside of me doing that. I'm in love. :o
Anyway, everything looked good. Both their hands were wide open which she said is another good sign. We just need to wait for the blood tests now. My next appointment is the 6th, but I won't have another ultrasound until 20 weeks. She also said that I will probably want to stop working at 32 weeks.
Team yellow here
12w6days
Had my second OB appointment today. Everything looks good. Had another u/s, baby looks good, heartbeat is where it should be. Will have the NT testing on Thursday.
CNN article I don't think it's cause for alarm at all. If you've done some research, most groups are opposed to "keepsake" ultrasounds anyway- sometimes they can take an hour or more and aren't always performed by licensed technichans under the supervision of a physician. This quote summed up the article for me:
The study of 335 mice concluded that in those whose mothers were exposed to a total of 30 minutes or more, "a small but statistically significant number" of brain cells failed to grow into their proper position and remained scattered in incorrect parts of the brain. The number of affected cells increased with longer exposures.
Uh, no, I am not going to worry about a study based on 300+ mice.
Of the four (five) US I've had already (yeah), two were done by my doc, two were by US techs and one (quick and dirty one) was done by the ER doc. None have been "just for fun"
1~to determine if I had appedicitis and OOPS, there's TWO!
2~trying to see separate sacs
3~SAW separate sacs
4~quick and dirty to see if there were two and then sent me upstairs for...
5~checking HBs, etc.
And my first officially scheduled one is Thursday. (first trimester screen)
And I will probably have more as they want to check that everything is good. I CAN'T think about or read about what various articles say or don't say about them.
isobel: Hearing about seeing Baby A roll over is just really, really cute. I'm glad everything went ok.
usafwife: Nice belly shot!
U/S article: One thing the article said that DH really agreed on was that the mice bodies are much smaller so the mice fetuses are getting much higher exposure. He's not worried.
I forgot to mention that I'm an aunt to my first niece!:) My brother and SIL had their little girl, Raven Lee, on Sunday. She's a little thing (5lbs 15oz, 18inches long). Unfortunately they heard something in her lungs and it turns out she has the beginnings of pneumonia. She's on antibiotics and the doctors are pretty sure she'll be fine. I'm really glad they caught it before she left the hospital. Depending on how well she does she'll be in the hospital another week to a couple of weeks.
I'm really wanting to pop. Though I am feeling a lot of stretching/pulling I feel like I haven't grown in the past two weeks.
So glad so many of you have had such good doctor's apointments! That is always such a great thing to hear!
MrsHill & fsb - Love the u/s pictures. Amazing how they are only about an 1-2 inches long but you can see arms and legs now.
usafwife - Great belly shot!
Daniel's Kitty, MrsSki, rancherswife, usafwife - You mean army crawling is only the beginning of my new life of chasing him around! :p It is fun to have moms with kids a few months older than DS, so I can hear about all the adventures I can come to expect.
JenJen - oh honey, it's only the beginning. Wait until the words start :D . I'm getting a lot of 'I do it' and 'Hold it, mom'.
Last night was the most awful night of my life (actually second most awful). DD wanted McDonald's for dinner last night, so I drove through and got us burgers and fries. Mind you, this is the same McD's we've been driving through since we've lived here and it's the same McD's my sitter drives through when she treats the kids to Happy Meals once a month.
We had a pretty busy evening last night picking up the house, folding and putting clothes away, doing some weeding outside and we took a nice walk in the cool air. DD went to bed about 9:30 and I followed. I was feeling a little nauseous and thought it was because I had been busy and didn't really take a minute to lay down and rest. I fell asleep and woke up about 1:15am with the worst stomach pains (for those RO's it was like labor all over). I honestly thought I was losing the baby. I went to the bathroom and tinkled and there were no signs. The cramps were getting worse so I walked around a bit and sure enough. Vomit city. Everything I had eaten since about 2pm came up. I instantly felt better. For about 5 minutes. The cramps came back just as bad. I sipped some cool water and layed on the tile floor in the bathroom. After about 10 minutes, I thought I had to 'go'. So I was trying and good thing the wastebasket was there. All the water and whatever was left came up with lots of stomach acid. Again, I instantly felt better. For about 5 minutes. I went back to bed and layed there about 10 minutes and then had to run back to 'go'. Once the diahrrea stopped, I felt MUCH better. I was able to go back to sleep, my it feels like my throat has been sliced with razor blades.
My first though with all the cramps was that I had a bowel or intestinal obstruction with all the stomach cramps and then the awful vomiting. But once I went, I figured whatever hatefulness that was causing my sickness had worked its way out of my system. Thank god.
My dr. appt is at 4:15 today and I get to hear the hb! Yiippee!!!
MrsSki ~ Yes, I too have had many bouts of that same thing. I hope you're feelling better today.
Yesterday..was really bad.. I was so miserable. I had the worst cramps, pinches and aches. My SIL went out and got me a hot water bottle and I have an already scheduled appt on Friday.. But I have to say it
really scared me... Eric thinks it's just a stretching pain.. but I don't know.. No-other symptoms though so that's good. After I got that I went and laid in bed and was out cold within minutes. I woke up probably around 3am and the water bottle was still right next to me. I hear their better then heating pads, I'm feeling a little
better today, but still have the morning/all day sickness. I so hope that stops soon.. I'm down like 12 lbs now.
Question: What is this about not sleeping on your back.. I normally sleep on my stomach or side, but I toss alot at night.. Is this OK?
Elenna ~ Thanks. Congrats on becoming an aunt!
jenjen ~ Thanks. Oh yes, it's just the beginning.
MrsSki ~ That sounds horrible. I've had those cramps before. I had them about two weeks ago over the weekend and I seriously had to use some lamaze/prepared childbirth breathing to get through them. I'm still puzzled as to what caused them. I almost thought they could have been BH contractions but I didn't think they'd start that early.
Sleeping on your back ~ Here is what Your Pregnancy Week by Week says about sleeping on your back.
Don't lie on your back when you sleep. As your uterus gets larger, lying on your back can place the uterus on top of important blood vessels (the aorta and the inferior vena cava) that run down the back of your abdomen. This can decrease circulation to your baby and parts of your body. Some pregnant women also find it harder to breathe when lying on their backs.
Lying on your stomach puts extra pressure on your growing uterus. This is another reason to learn to sleep on your side. For some women, their favorite thing after delivery is to be able to sleep on their stomach again!
And this is from What to Expect When You're Expecting.
Giving up your favorite sleeping position during pregnancy can be as traumatic as giving up your teddy bear was when you were six. You're bound to lose some sleep over it--but only until you get used to the new position. And the time to get used to it is now, (between wks 18 and 22) before your expanding belly makes it even more difficult to get comfortable.
Two common favorite sleeping positions--on the belly and on the back--are not the best choices during pregnancy. The belly position for obvious reasons: as your stomach grows, it's like sleeping on a watermelon. the back position, though more comfortable, rests the entire weight of your pregnant uterus on your back, your intestines, and two major blood vessels: the aorta (the vein responsible for bringing blood from the heart to the rest of your body) and the inferior vena cava (the vein responsible for returning blood from the lower body to the heart). This can aggravate backaches and hemorrhoids, make digestion less efficient, interfere with breathing and circulation, and possibly cause hypotension, or low blood pressure.
This doesn't mean you have to sleep standing up. Curling up or stretching out on your side--perferably the left side--with one leg crossed over the other and with a pillow between them, is the best for both you and your fetus. It not only allows maximum flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta but also enhances efficient kidney function, which means better elimination of waste products and fluids and less swelling (edema) of ankles, feet, and hands.
Very few people, however, manage to stay in one position through the night. Don't worry if you wake up and find yourself on your back or abdomen. No harm done; just turn back to your side. You may feel uncomfortable for a few nights, but your body will soon adjust to the new position. A "body pillow," at least five feet long, or a wedge-shaped pillow can offer support, making side sleeping much more comfortable and staying on your side much easier. If you don't have either of these, you can improvise with any extra pillows, placing them against your body in different positions until you find that perfect combination for cathcing z's.
Shimmerstar ~ Don't worry you'll soon be in the 2nd trimester. I just decided to start the new thread since I knew that some of us were already in/approaching the second tri. You'll soon be at the mark (depending upon who you talk to it is anywhere between 12, 13, and 14 wks).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It felt so good to be able to sleep in until 7 this morning. The alarm going off before 4 am was just too darn early for me. Morning sickness is still sticking around. Hope it decides to leave pretty soon.

Got a call from my doctor a bit ago.
I feel bad for him. I've probably said before, but I see a resident. I am very happy with him. His "supervising" doctor left the clinic he and a bunch of residents were at (she's now in MN if any of you are interested, she's amazing, too!), so they are all being transitioned to the hospital I will be delivering at.
The incoming residents don't technically have clinicals until starting Sept. 5, but any who currently have patients will continue seeing them as usual.
Well, when I called to make my appt and schedule my US, I was told that he couldn't see me right after (he told me no matter when it was, he'd find a way to be there). So, I had my US scheduled for tomorrow and my first appt with him there on Monday.
Well, he called me tonight, from home, checking to see if the clinic had called me and told me he was coming in to see me after my US tomorrow. No, they didn't. (They have yet to call me for any reminders, whereas the other clinic called two business days before for a reminder) He sounded a bit frustrated because he made it a point to call in, find out about my US and set up a special time for him to see me.
So, my appt is tomorrow right after my US instead of Monday. (I gave him a heads up about what has been happening, he had NO idea, even though the res I saw said he'd let my doc know)
I feel bad for him and all of the residents who are coming in. I hope this is just a transitional thing and not the way this clinic is run. I mean, they are already being sent, for him at least, after two years getting used to someplace, to this new place where the current residents are fighting for new patients. And the nurses aren't as friendly either.
When I went in on Monday, the receptionists were talking loudly about stupid things and their desks were disasters. The waiting room was incredibly small. (but I'll deal with that) The exam rooms are tiny and the tables are narrow and hard.
Sorry, just wanted to vent a bit. Maybe vent isn't the right word, but I just feel bad for them!

Well we have a baby in there!!! It felt so weird actually seeing it moving around and hearing it's little heart beat. She measured me at 11w3d so I'm pretty much right on target with my EDD even though they're going to use my LMP and shoot for 2/28.
The kiddo kept moving around and waving like crazy, so the pictures aren't that great but you get the idea...

Thanks for posting the sleeping info, usafwife. I'm definitely scared about having to change sleeping positions. I love sleeping on my stomach! And I feel like when I sleep on my side there is no room for my shoulder and my shoulder always ends up hurting...why can't they make a huge donut pillow with a hole for your belly so I can sleep on that?? :)

Hey moms-
Had my dr. appt yesterday. My ob was running about 45 minutes late due to a delivery that didn't go well. That pretty much put the whole staff in a funk so things were a bit out of sorts.
I've lost 3 pounds in the last 4 weeks. Blood pressure is fine. Dr. C comes in asked me what caused the food poisoning. Said he was sorry I wasn't feeling well, but as long as I was keeping food down and passing fluids, he said not to be concerned. He put his kit of needles and vials down and said that he wanted to check to see if there was a heartbeat first before drawing blood. I almost started bawling. I couldn't believe he said that.
Anyway, it took him a bit to find the heartbeat, but he did! It was right above my pubic bone. He doesn't count the beats per minute. He finds it, lets me listen for a few seconds and then wipes the gunk off. He took about 7 vials of blood, asked me if I had any questions and said he'd see me in 4 weeks.
I'm feeling much better today. My back and ribs are pretty sore from the forceful vomitting, but otherwise I feel great.
I got to do a HUGE food shop after the appt last night and boy do I love having a full fridge and freezer. Our pantry is also stocked full. And I spent just over $100. DH will be very happy about that when he gets home (tomorrow afternoon!!!!)
My next appt is 09-06

MrsSki: You probably lost 3 lbs just from that night with food poisoning.;) I'm glad you're feeling better.

Had the Never Ending US today. Along with seeing my doc. (which was a huge comfort)
I'll try and remember to post pics later.
So, my US was supposed to be at 8:30. Someone else was scheduled for 9, but got there before me (I got there at 8:20) so they let them go first. *sigh* And then they didn't seem to realize mine might take a little longer because there are two to check. But, in the end, they look good. HBs are even higher (174 and didn't catch) They are measuring 12w and 12w1d. "A" wasn't cooperative but "B" was like, "HEY! My turn, cool, you want me to move like this, okay, here you go, can I show you my hands? See my legs, lookit, I got two of them. And I can open my mouth, wanna see? Wanna see again? Let me head butt this stupid pokey thing, oh, and here's my cord!"
So, it's been told to me before, but finally explained to me today, they are mo-di, meaning they are in separate sacs on the inside but share the same outer sac (for those of you who don't know, all of our babies are in two sacs and, as they grow, the sacs just stick together and look like on). The amnion and the chorion. (I don't remember which is which)
Which, by what the tech, and four doctors have told me, it means they are identical, so I will NOT be in Team Purple.
Next OB appt: September 5
the BIG US (20 weeks): October 5
And, because of my back problems, the doc agrees, limiting my lifting (less than 20 lbs, closer to 10) and just taking it easier than I would if I weren't pregnant is a good idea.
Still a lot of, "Because of ______, there is higher risk for _______" which makes me nervous. Isobel, do you get a lot of that at your appts?

Elenna- Congrats on the niece. I have two nephews and would love a girl in the family- who know, my little baby might be the one!
MrsSki- Oh, that really sucks about the food poisoning, or whatever it was. I just hate throwing up! I am glad you are back to feeling better.
dpangel- great u/s pics! I can't wait to see my baby again! I only got one picture the first time, but I guess there isn't much to see at 8 weeks.
***********
I had my dr's appt. today but I saw the nurse/midwife instead. Really, I think I could have just gone in there and used the doppler myself and saved them some time, but it is nice to hear from a professional that everything sounds great. It was much easier to hear the hb this time and it was so strong. I love it! She said my uterus is right where it should be and I have gained 5lbs so I am on track as long as I just gain about 1/2 a pound a week from here on out. She recommends with my height that I should shoot for 25-30 pounds, but I am just going to do my best not to get obese! :)
I did complain a bit to her because on Monday I was having serious pain in my lower right abdomen. By the time I got home from work I could hardly stand up straight. I had a suspicion about what it was, but I wasn't sure so I called the dr's office and got the answering service. She took my number and said the on call doc would call me back. He never did! I was so mad! Here I was in serious pain and no one called to check on me. Fortunately it was just an intestinal blockage and the pain subsided about 2 hours after I had a bm (tmi- i know) but still, I was in some serious pain and was pissed that no one called me.
The nurse/midwife was upset too and shocked that neither the doctor nor the service called me back. She said if that happens again I should call back in 30 minutes because the docs will always call back before then. She said the service is also supposed to call back in 30 minutes to make sure a doctor called. Since neither of those happened she thinks the service transposed the numbers. I feel a little better about that, but next time if this happens I am going to be seriously pissed!
My gastro dr. had told me that because of my crohn's disease I probably have a narrowing of the small intestine from past inflammation and that can cause problems in what for most people is just mild constipation. I don't know what it was for sure, but it sucked. I am eating a steady supply of prunes and am going to get more fiber in my diet because I don't want that to happen again!
My next appt. is September 7 and at that appt. they will schedule my next u/s, but she said they don't like to do them until 22 weeks! that seems like such a long time until I will see my baby again!

13w1day
I have a big update------
IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!!
We had the 3D ultrasound today for the nuchal testing. Our little guy was flipping and turning and would absolutely not show the back of his neck. I finally said "hey, buddy, turn over" and the doctor said yes, it's absolutely a boy. You could really tell when the 3D flipped on- um, everything is there, it was 100% clear.
My baby is really skinny though! Yikes. I've only gained 3 pounds so far, I guess I need to try and eat more.

LA, WOO HOO! Congrats on your boy! Now, with that, I am EXTRA anxious to find out!!!
I swear on them both that that picture is real. At the time, the tech laughed because she said s/he looked like s/he was waving to us.
I actually lost 4 or 6 lbs since my last weigh-in. (almost a month ago)
B-that blows about the oncall docs....

I also had my nuchal transluceny u/s yesterday. It was amazing. The tech took a peek and "thinks" it's a girl, but I'm not 100% convinced just yet.
La_bride: I've lost about 5-6 pounds since I got pg. Typical 1st trimester stuff. And don't worry, our baby looked skinny too. They'll start picking up weight in the 2nd/3rd trimesters.

ladybug777 - glad the nuchal went well. It must drive you nuts to hear a "sort of" gender prediction...

Man, I should have scheduled my nuchal for 13 weeks -- I am DYING to know the gender. I asked the tech, but she said 12 weeks was too early (but didn't really try to look either).
Fingers crossed, but morning sickness is getting much much better. I still dry heave a little into the toilet after brushing my teeth, but I've been feeling much better during the day and not feeling faint anymore while standing too long (I was having issues standing in the subway for a little while). Anyway, don't want to jinx myself, but I am happy to be feeling better now!

I'm so glad that your twins look healthy (and silly) in the US pictures Jenah.
Nice belly shots Elenna!
I've been feeling emotionally up and down the past few days--those darn pregnancy hormones. I went to visit a friend with a 2 month old baby and left feeling a bit like what are we getting ourselves into. I've spent a lot of time with babies but always get to leave at the end of the day. My friend has a fussy baby who doesn't sleep much and I could see how exhausting it is day in and day out. She offered up a bassinet, stroller (not sure if they will work for us) and clothes if we have a girl.

jenah - wow, I don't think you look fat at all, that's definitely a baby belly (x2)!
Elenna - your belly shot looks great too, and you've definitely grown (in a good way of course!) I really need to get some batteries for my camera so I can take one.
Sorry I haven't been posting much, I've been lurking, just haven't found much time to post. But we finally figured out why dd has been such a terrible sleeper and is now sleeping 10 or so hours a night, which is a godsend. After only a couple nights, I feel like a whole new person.
The m/s is still around for me, but Ihaven't actually gotten sick yet. It's also getting better, so hopefully a couple more weeks and it'll be gone.

13weeks 3days
Gender determination:
I should clarify something- I've been watching the DVD, and the first part is in 3D, but the end part was in 4D. I had no idea they could do it so early, but apparently our little guy is well formed for his gestational age, so the Dr. thought he could see the gender if he put it into 4D, and we all could, clear as day. (The geneticist and my husband and a RN were all there).
I'm guessing the 4D isn't a normal part of the nuchal translucency screening. I'm guessing too he may have felt bad for us for all we've been through to get our little guy (m/c's, loss of twin this pregnancy, IVF, etc. etc.) so he spent a little extra time.

LA Bride, what awesome news!!! That is so exciting they were able to tell the sex already.
Elenna and Jenah, great belly shots! I know what you mean about feeling like we are getting fatter vs getting pg, but I can certainly see the pg belly on both of you.
Life has been pretty good here. But I have been a little irritable lately about pg in general. The "news" has started spreading at work and I feel like all day long people ask me how I feel. And everytime someone comes to my desk, or calls me, they ask about it. It's like it is taking over my life. I am excited to be pg, but I'm not just pg. I'm still me. I can carry on intelligent witty conversations about things not baby related. Really, I can. And when I say I feel fine, I really do feel fine. Is anyone esle getting this or am I strange?

labride - Congrats on your baby boy and those u/s pictures are awesome!
elenna and jenahdawn - What great belly shots! Thanks for posting!
Ladybug- congrats on your babygirl!
I took a 12 week belly shot last week that I'll post sometime. The belly is definitely getting larger, but I'm still in regular clothes which really surprises me since this is #2.
I feel like a switch has been turned off and I feel great again! No more icky sickness for the last few days! I'm loving it! I hope everyone else out there gets rid of the morning sickness soon and starts enjoying this second trimester!

Everyone,
I love all the belly shots and the u/s pictures. I can't wait until we get to see our baby again. 6 weeks seems like forever!
I have been such a chicken about belly shots. I felt so bloated when we first found out about the pregnancy, I didn't want any pictures. Then, I just keep putting it off. I really need some pictures. I will have to take them this week when I am 16 weeks. I feel like a bad mom already that I missed out on so many belly shots. Oh well. I need to get over my insecurities and just take them. :)
As I sit here at my desk looking at my belly, I don't see baby, all I see is fat! I freaked out this morning after stepping on the scale and I had gained 2.5 pounds since my dr's appt. on Thursday. I am only supposed to gain a 1/2 a pound a week from here on out and I gained all my weight for my next appt. plus a 1/2 a pound in one weekend! That can't be good... I know weekend always suck because we eat out and by wednesday my weight is always down after eating normally for 3 days, but still, I freaked out. I really need to get out and exercise but it is supposed to be in the 100's all week this week and I just can't bring myself to get out there in this. I may have to cave this week and toss in the tae-bo (toned down a bit from usual) and work out some of this non-baby fat that I can see creeping up. I am trying not to obsess about this weight gain, but at 5'2" I don't really have a lot of wiggle room in the weight gain dept. I didn't start out tiny, but not fat either. I just know if I don't watch it somewhat, I am going to blow up like a balloon and it will be so hard to get it back off.
Okay, enough weight freak-out!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and the babies are doing well.
Take care everyone,
Michelle

OMG I missed a couple of days and there is soooo uch catching up to do!!!
LaBride- Congratulations....You're U/S pics are amazingly cool!
Ladybug- Congrats ?!?!
Jenah- OMG your alien is adorable. I can tell baby B already has your persoanlity 100%! Way too cute!~I am so happy everything is okay!
Danea- Yeah for a healthy HB and U/S!!!!
M/S- All moms still dealing with MS, mine has picked back up again too. It sucks! I think when I am stressed is when its really bad.
What's bothering me more than M/S is the constant aches and pains. I am starting Yoga this week and I really hope it helps b/c I am feeling so tight and sore. DH has to give me nightly massages =)
I'm so happy everyones dr. appts are going well! Such good news!
I need everyone's opinion: Sept. 6th is my next appt., which is 16 weeks to the day, is it rude to ask the dr to do an u/s? I haven't had an u/s since 7 weeks and I would really love to see my little guy and see if we can determine gender, but mainly I just want to see him/her!!!! Its been forever. I know if we don't do an u/s at 16 wks we will do it at 20, but I'm not a patient person!!!
Michelle- I feel the same way!!! I just told DH this morning that we are walking tonight and I am starting Yoga!!! I feel like I have lost muscle in my legs and they look super flabby. Don't stress about the weekend weight, one thing WW taught me is that you must weigh on the same day around the same time each week, because your weight fluctuates throughout the week.

bombera: I feel the same way when I look at my belly.
Jenahdawn: Nice belly shots.
PrincessCJ: I've been feeling a lot of aches and pains lately too. Mostly in my hips, though.
la_bride: Wow, nice ultrasounds. I think I can see the goods in the color shot.:o
My MIL being in town was a bit too much for me. I totally crashed after she left on Sunday. I'm still feeling quite drained. The whole weekend was about baby stuff. This is her first grandchild so I can see she's excited, but right now I can only tolerate just so much of it. On Saturday, we went shopping at pretty much every place that had baby stuff. DH and I didn't buy anything, but MIL just couldn't resist. She bought a very soft sleeper for the baby. So we have our first baby gift. It was really sweet of her but it felt really weird getting something for the baby so soon.
By the end of Saturday I was feeling completely overwhelmed with all the baby shopping that I started crying.:o It might also have been because I'm not much of a shopper myself and I was just tired of shopping.
I got into work this morning and my spider plant is missing off my desk. I have only 10 days left at work so I'm afraid someone has taken it as their own. I started crying as soon as I saw it was gone. I'm waiting for my boss to get out of a meeting to talk to her about it.

Carrie - I know what you mean even though I haven't told my office yet. But my family now calls so often it's irritating to answer the same questions 5 times a day. It was exciting and flattering at first, but now it's already getting old. So no, you're not the only one feeling this way, but hang in there girl!!!
labride2004 - Congrats on your darling boy, those u/s pics looks absolutely amazing!!
Cindy - Lucky duck to still be in regular clothes and not feeling sick!!! Hope the ickies continue to stay away!!
bombera77 - I don't blame you for not exercising, this weather has been God awful and I have seen the effects of no longer walking as well. Hopefully when the weather starts to cool off we'll be able to get out and do more huh??!! I know it'll make me feel so much better!!
Candice - I know it's hard waiting for an u/s (I had to wait 12 wks for my first), but if you're Dr will give you one cool, but if not hopefully you can wait until 20 wks for the next scheduled one.
ETA: Elena - I hope you find your spider plant. How horrible that someone would just take it!!
~~~~~~
For me the nausea seems to be getting less and less which is great, but now when I cough or sneeze I dry heave. It's mostly in the mornings after I eat breakfast, which is weird because nothing comes up (don't get me wrong I'm so thankful nothing comes up).
And I'm definitely hungry all.the.time. DH went grocery shopping last night and I ate a whole package of strawberries in one sitting before dinner :o Plus I drank all his Gatorade, I feel horrible but everything he gets sounds so wonderful to me, at least I ask before I consume it :D
So due to this surge in appetite I am having major issues fitting into my work pants. So it looks as though I need to do some more maternity pant shopping when I get paid :cool:
YAY - I'm finally back & all caught up - here's my attempt to respond to the first 17 pages of the thread :)
Threadmistresses – The new thread is great – thank you!!! For the front page, we are planning to find out the sex of the baby, so can you please move me to Waiting for U/S? Thanks! And baby shower sounds great!
Working after baby is born – yes, but not full time, I’m hoping at this point to go back 2 full days/week in the office and 2 half days from home. Hopefully that will work out ok
Performance Anxiety – I’ve TOTALLY had that problem – now I drink a TON of water before going to the dr’s! And I’ve been told I will have to give a sample every time I go into the OB’s office for anything.
BFing – I’m definitely planning to bf, as long as there’s no reason I can’t. Everyone in my life seems to be supportive of whatever choice I make, although there are definitely some who are visibly glad to hear it when I tell them I’m planning to bf. Speaking of which – has anyone started looking into pumping systems?
Spotting – I had some last week – totally freaked me out!!! :eek: But I went in to see the dr just to be sure, and everything is totally fine. Hopefully all of you have found the same thing!
E’sprincess – So sorry I left you :( Basically, the Feb 9 date was what they gave me initially based on my charting, but they changed it to Feb 4 based on my 9wk u/s.
Jenah – I’m SO relieved to hear that everything with your two little wigglers is ok – definitely take it easy!!! My dad is an identical twin…that’s SO exciting!! And I LOVE the alien shot :D
Sleeping – well ladies, as I’ve continued to pop (I still owe you all a belly shot!), I’ve found that you naturally stop rolling to your stomach. Don’t know if the RO’s would agree…but it’s just sort of happened as my belly has grown…
LaBride – CONGRATS on your little man – that’s so exciting!!! I can’t believe you know already – that’s crazy!
Carrie & Deana – my mom is the main one who is CONSTANTLY asking “how are you feeling? Are you ok?” And on and on…and nothing I can tell her will get her to leave me alone. I tell her I’m tired, but good otherwise, and then she offers to come up to help me out – I don’t need help – there’s nothing for her to do, I’m just tired at the end of the day!
Sorry I’m not doing more s/o’s – now that I’m all caught up, hopefully I’ll be better about s/o’s as they happen…
*****************************
Everything on my end is moving along well, other than my spotting scare last week. I'm definitely feeling better, but am still really tired - hopefully that will pass soon too.
We started our registry last weekend – SO crazy exciting – but also overwhelming. My mom is planning to throw a big couples shower for us in October, so the time is going to fly & we wanted to get started. We picked out our bedding – it’s at Babies R Us – Patchwork Pooh. It’ll be super cute & neutral whether we’re having a boy or a girl, which is what I want for the nursery (and we both love Pooh!!!)
Glad to be back...hopefully I can keep up now :)
Wow, I had to get us off of the 2nd page, that's ODD! ;)
I noticed in my reading that I missed a topic a few pages back.
work: I taught kindergarten before I had Landon, thought I was going back to work, until the day I held him in my arms. I knew right then, I couldn't leave him. Dh said he knew it was coming. ;) So, I've been a SAHM since he was born, and plan on SAH w/ this one as well. The teaching credential isn't going anywhere, so when my kiddos start school, I'll go back to teaching.
I dug out my Baby Beat doppler that I got when I was pg w/ Landon this weekend. So fun to hear the baby's h/b. I'm so glad I still have it too.
Twelve weeks tomorrow, WOW! Time has gone by SOOOO fast this time. I'm getting my energy back, although not tonight, Landon only took a 20 min. nap (besides his a.m. nap) this afternoon, instead of his normal 2 hour nap. I'm beat. But overall, feeling good. Happy to be moving into the 2nd trimester!!! :)
USAWife- totally ok to include any ultrasound pics I post on the id thingie! Thank you.
rancherswife DH rented me a doppler- I love it! It's so reasurring to hear the little guy.
Elenna Nice on the baby gift! Sorry about the plant being missing- that would upset me too.
jenjen Glad you are feeling better!
bombera I have weight freak out too- you are not alone! I've never gained weight on my stomach before and it's hard to watch it puff out.
Princess I don't think it's rude to ask for an u/s at all, but I do know some insurance plans are stingy so I'd clarify that first- personally I'd pay if the insurance didn't, but that's just me!
dpangel LOL on the strawberries- that sounds yummy! Maternity pants are definitely your friends. I had no idea they were so comfortable.
phillytiger Welcome back! I sort of started looking at BRU too- I am in love with the "Sea Life" theme stuff- I believe it will be our first purchase. I do think Pooh is gender neutral and I'm sure it'll look cute!
Ok, is it just me, or does anyone else LOATHE "What to Expect When You Are Expecting" ? Every time I pick up that darned book I get totally worried about some bad thing that could happen or the possibility that I may gain a pound over the recommended weight gain and be screwed.
I'm donating it to the library. I do like "Your Pregnancy Week by Week."
la, I heard too many negative comments about it, so I never got it.
In fact, I've pretty much stopped reading any books. (I was about 3 weeks behind on WBW, only read about 1/3 of Girlfriends Guide, the one from the doctor's office sits collecting dust.)
I'm frustrated because they aren't really applying to me that much. "You aren't big enough to wear maternity pants yet." Um, yes I am....oh, yeah, I'm different.
Week 15 or 16, "you may be experiencing RLP". Been there, done that.
So, I just gave up. I'm going on instinct now.
Got the result of my nuchal yesterday -- our risk for Downs is 1 in 920, and our risk for Trisomy-18 (I think that's what it's called) is less than 1 in 10,000. The doctor said these were good results. It's sort of strange to me that the Downs risk is so much higher compared to the Trisomy, but apparently this is normal. So anyway, I guess that's a relief.
I'm wearing the Bella Band at work today. I'm not sure how much use I'll be able to get out of it, but so far I've used it a couple of times. It is nice to not have to button my pants. :-)
Also, a question: does anyone else wonder whether throwing up in the morning is becoming a habit more than a necessity? I am feeling SO much better during the day now, but I'm still throwing up (well, mostly dry heaving) every morning. I feel so much better once I do it, but I wonder if my body/mind is just getting used to it and is going to keep doing it even when I don't really "need" to. I don't know, maybe that's nuts, but it just seems strange to me that I still need to dry heave once in the morning and then I feel fine the rest of the day...
Would you like both (or one) included in your ID? How many wks along in the picture so it can be added to the pic?
If I paid attention....
The second belly shot (where you can actually see something is fine.) As for the US, the first one (with both of them)...if you want to be entertained, you can include the alien shot, but the first one is fine.
Both the US and belly shots are 12 weeks.
FSB: I borrowed one from a friend of mine and it's done nothing for me. I'll just kind of read WBW. (My husband says I'm freaking myself out by reading too many books and threads and everything and I think he's right.)
I had another comment somewhere but I can't remember it. (I didn't sleep well last night and a stupid telemarketing call at 6:30 THIS MORNING didn't help.)
WHO calls at 6:30 in the morning? If it's not an emergency, you better put that phone back down. AND, by the time I got to the phone, it hung up! (need to take a nap, very cranky.)
Oh, and I had a dream last night weirder than the dreams I have had up to this point. (Most of my pg dreams have been about spiders or celebrities or old high school classmates...better than my wedding dreams, where my teeth were falling out in groups!) This one, Britney Spears was on bedrest at the hospital I was at and, for some reason, her dirtball of a husband was in my US to find out that I was having two boys. And the entire time we were in the room, I was telling him he needed to clean up his act, treat her right and take care of his kids. And, at the end of it, I solved their problems.
Elenna
08-15-2006, 09:02 AM
jenahdawn: That dream is too funny. I hate telemarketers. They're pretty much the reason I got rid of my land line and went completely cellular.
fsb: Congrats for getting good results from the NT! I have heard other pg women wonder before if their m/s isn't just in their heads. Personally, I don't think it is in your head. I think it is still a physical reaction. I hope it goes away soon for you.
books: I'm not reading "WTE" anymore. I'm just reading the "WBW" book. I tried to find "Great Expectations" and "Belly laughs" but all the book stores around here are out of them.
Threadmistress: I'm fine with just the 15 week belly shot being on my ID. Thanks!
I found out the cleaning guy threw out my spider plant. I told my boss and she just shrugged her shoulders and didn't seem to care. So, I talked to the cleaning guy myself and told him not to throw away anything on peoples' desks. He tried to give the excuse that he had noticed I wasn't watering it so he threw it out. Well, I only water it every other week!!! I bawled my eyes out after that. I'm so disgusted with it all (especially my boss' response) that I called in sick today. I'm thinking of calling in sick tomorrow, too. I have enough sick time that I could call in sick every day I have left. Sooo tempting...
I'm not really sure, but I think I felt the baby last night. I was while I was laying in bed. I was feeling gas bubbles, but then I felt something else. It felt like a jumping muscle/twitch in my lower abdomen. I've never felt something like that before.
"What to Expect" is not a great book. I rarely pick it up. I read it cover to cover w/ Landon, this time, I look at it, maybe once a month. Too much negative and scary stuff.
dpangel: I couldn't see your belly shots or u/s pics.
Elenna: Sounds like you felt the baby moving. YAY!!! I was about 15 weeks when I felt that same sort of movement w/ Landon. :)
Ugh, I was SO sick this morning - as sick as I've been yet. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!! But I'm feeling much better now...we'll see.
I was given so much negative feedback on WTE that I didn't bother getting it - I've been happy with WBW, the Mayo Guide (which has little week by week blurbs) and The Pregnancy Journal.
Elenna- I felt the baby about two weeks ago, but nothing since. I guess mine just had a burst of energy that night and since then has just been hanging out! How exciting! Isn't it great? I completely understand your breakdown about the plant. Hormones are just taking us over and I hate it when I can't control it. That guy had no right to throw away your plant. What a jerk!
Threadmistress- please change me to team green- we ARE waiting until delivery day!
Thanks for the weight encouragement everyone!
*********
I did have a meltdown of my own this morning. It started yesterday when we found out my husband's cousin died, so we made arrangements to fly to Odessa, TX this afternoon for the funeral. I am coming home tomorrow night, so I was just going to have my friend feed our dog tonight and tomorrow morning until I got back. I don't like leaving him alone, he usually goes to a friend's house, but this time, it is such a short trip, I don't mind.
So, I had that all set up and then we got home last night at about 8pm and the house was 91 degrees! I knew the instant I walked in and Gibson (the dog) greeted me panting, that the air conditioner had gone out! Not good at all.
By the grace of God, we had installed a separate window unit a/c in our bedroom on Saturday, because even with the main a/c our room was too hot, so we turned that on, and my husband went and got take-out and the three of us spent the rest of the night in the bedroom, nice and cool. The biggest problem is that now I can't leave my dog for a day and half cooped up in our bedroom and I can't leave him in a 100 degree house, so now I need to find him a place.
I tried calling my friend who had offered to take him yesterday, but she didn't answer. I tried calling her again all morning and she never answered. I knew she would be willing to do it, so I just packed up the dog and took him over to her house before work. She doesn't have to be at work until 9, so I got there at 8:10 and her car was out front. Yippee!
I knocked on her door and all her windows for 45 minutes! By then I was in a complete panic. I didn't hear her dog barking at my knocking and I knew she had to be there, but she wasn't answering. I drove around her neighborhood thinking she had taken the dog for a walk, I called her boss (also a friend of ours) and asked if she had a company car or something and continued to bang on the doors.
By this time I was convinced that someone has come in the night and killed her and her dog and that was why she wasn't answering. I was in a complete panic and about to call the cops for a welfare check when I decided to knock on her bedroom window one last time and finally I heard her dog go nuts and I shouted "it's Michelle!" and went around to the door and she let me in.
She was fine. She and her dog were both in the bathroom at the back of the house and didn't hear a thing. When I saw that she was fine, I just broke down and started bawling! Then she freaked out because she had no idea why I was there and crying because her phone was turned off! I couldn't stop myself, I was just so happy to see she was okay (did I mention I might watch too much tv?) that I couldn't stop the tears.
So, long story short, she has the dog and everything is fine, but it was very traumatic for me! By the time I got to work I was so hungry I thought I was going to pass out. It was too hot in the kitchen to get breakfast. I am lucky I showered it was so hot in the bathroom!
So we leave at noon today for the funeral and my dog will be just fine. I know I seem blasé about the funeral, but I never met him and although it will be sad, it hasn't really affected me yet. I'm not heartless, I promise. I am sad about it. Just wait, I will get around his crying family and I am sure I will join in!
Sorry for the novel, but it was kind of funny, so I had to share!
I hope everyone's day is going better than mine-
Bombera- I am so sorry for your terrible, yet very eventful day. I would have done the exact same thing if I couldn't get a hold of my friend. I think the news has been so scary lately that we can't help but fear it could happen to us. I'm glad you found a place for Gibson to stay. The Dallas girls have got to get together so if something like that happens again, you have a back-up person...I know Danea and I are both dog lovers!!! I don't think you sounded bad about DHs cousin...we've all been in that situation.... Have a safe trip.
Philly- So sorry for your bad morning. I hope this goes away for you soon.
DP- I saw the pics!
Hope everyone is doing well!
I forgot who was talking about the M/S in your head, but its funny b/c I was thinking this exact same thing this morning. I've had such low energy for so long that I don't know if being tired is in my head or if I really am tired and sick....
Elena: I started feeling that same thing on monday at exactly 14W. It's amazing isn't it?
Bombera: OMG, what an ordeal. I don't blame you for being so upset. Thank goodness your friend was okay. So sorry to hear about your DH's cousin. Hope the family is doing well.
Count me as another one that didn't bother with "What To Expect". I have "Your Pregnancy- Week by Week" and for the most part, it's been great. Between that an all the internet updates, I have way more than enough info.
Threadmistress: If you don't mind, please change me to team green (is that the team that's waiting?) Even though we got a "maybe", neither of us are convinced enough to call it official yet. We're just gonna wait it out.
I too am one who really didn’t get into WTE. It was all about worse case scenario, and just made me that much more worried.
Dpangel – Great pic’s
Elenna – I’m so jealous… I don’t know if I’ve feel this little one.. but I know I have to be startling them, the past 2 nights I have had the worse nightmares ever…
Philly – Well at least we still have the M/S in common. It seems like it’s worse then ever. Every morning, it’s getting a little tiring.
Bombera77 – Sorry you had such a crazy morning, Good that your friend was able to help out with Gibson. I too, have done the same thing if I know a person is there, but not answering their door or phone… Kind of stalker’ish I know.. LOL
Kanga – cute U/S. I was all excited when the dot on the us was it’s heart… see you have a body start and the nubs.. LOL I love it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I haven’t been feeling well lately, still getting sick each and every morning.. not out of habit but because it just comes up. But the last 2 nights I have had the worst nightmares.
First I had….my dream Monday night... It's got me totally weirder out. I woke up screaming and crying and shaking...
So Eric and I are together and I'm pregnant but we're at a party and he disappears... so I go looking for him, well I found him.. But he's not alone... he's actually with another guy... I know.. ewe... ok, so I start screaming at him, and his mom comes in and starts yelling at me.. I call my mom because I'm leaving him and taking a Jag... Yes, we were RICH in this dream, well she's like I can't come 696 and I-75 are blocked.. well his mom and him start saying their keeping the baby and then she's hitting me... So I'm screaming and yelling and his mom's like stop screaming or I'll get the zipper... WTH is the Zipper... well it's some type of torture device and starts torturing me... I woke up Screaming my head off, right in Eric's ear.. and shaking... well I had really bad cramps after that... probably startled the baby... What's with these dreams...
Eric's mom is the nicest lady and I'm so glad she's my MIL... So Eric like what was the dream about? So I tell him.. He's totally grossed out about the guy to guy in the dream.. I'm more freaked out about them taking the baby part... I have had tons of weird dreams since finding out I was pregnant...Is this normal? or am I just weird... I think this dream tops the charts on weirdness...
ok typing this down seems really silly, but I was totally freaked out by it this morning. Like someone is going to try to take this baby from me... or something????
So then last night I have a dream I’m walking in my neighborhood, and all of a sudden I’m being kidnapped, tortured and beaten, hurt very badly… and then I’m running and I get snagged by someone fly fishing… but it’s the same person who kidnapped me… so the pain starts again… He woke me up, but I was still in the dream so I kept saying it hurts.. please stop.. He didn’t know what was going on.. Finally I woke up this morning afraid and disorientated... Poor Eric I keep waking him up… and I know their just dreams. But on my way to work the “Check Engine” light comes on… Ugh… So I keep thinking it’s going to break down on me and leave me stranded. I really can’t understand where these dreams are coming from. Normally my dreams are happy and loving.. not this “dark” stuff.

E'sprincess - oh yes, I can so relate to those dreams. They seem to get weirder and weirder. Mine are usually around my being pg and DH flaunting his piece of fluff in my face.
I've actually woken up several times afraid of dating and how was I going to rent on my apartment (we own a house and have lived there for 6.5 years). I had a dream night before last that I woke up from almost hyperventilating. I can still see the man I was in love with (not DH) disfigured and turned into a monster from a fire lying in a ditch with two other guys I was close with. I had a severe feeling of loss for most of the day. But I've also been thinking alot about my brother, who I lost in a freak car accident 7 years ago, and my first love, who was killed in a car accident on his way to my house when I was 18. My best friend and I backtracked to where he and her boyfriend were and found him lying in a ditch near a gravel road.
Anyway - the m/s is better. Noticeably so. I'm sorry others are still having it and some severe. I hope it gets better for you. I do find I have WAY more energy these days. And while exhausted at the end of the day, I sure don't sleep that great.
My clothes are still fitting pretty much the same. With this being my second and everyone saying RO's pop out almost immediately, I'm not one that is. Some stuff fits a bit snug and I have to be a bit creative. And my shirts don't want to fit as nice through my lower tummy. Thankfully the BB's are not growing. They didn't with DD, even after the cows came home and the milk came in.

*sigh* AGAIN?
So, woke up at 4:55 this morning. Went to the bathroom and....well, at least it was brown.
I mean, it was KIND OF expected, since they still saw some blood lying around duing the US, but still a little nerve wracking. (Plus, I KNOW I overdid it yesterday, but I have 16-20 people coming over tonight for a Tupperware party...)
I've only been to the bathroom once since and it was a little lighter and only when I wiped. But, no pains.
But that wasn't the scary part this morning.....
I wake up at 10am, wide awake, and have a strange feeling. I'm slightly worried about what it had to do with, but I get up to go to the bathroom.
So, as I am doing my business, I hear a strange noise from the bathroom next to our bedroom one...and, just before I flush, I hear a flush from the other one. Now, it's 10am, and I KNOW my husband left for work at 8.
I walk out of the bedroom..."Hello?" Nothing. "HELLO?" Nothing.
I grab my cell phone and call husband at work. Voice Mail.
I call his cell, he picks up and I can tell he's driving, he's going to the main office. "Um, the strangest thing happened. The toilet in the main upstairs bathroom flushed by itself."
He laughed and said he was just pulling out of the driveway, he'd forgotten his phone and stopped to grab it and pee. (And scare the hell out of me in the process!) He figured I was still asleep.
*sigh*
He's also ordered me to do nothing but wash my hair today. (I fell asleep in the bathtub yesterday)

E'sprincess: I hope the nightmares stop for you. I've had a few dreams about death lately. I don't like them at all.
Bombera: I hope your DH is doing ok. Sorry you had such a rotten couple of days.
Kanga: Cute ultrasound picture.
Jenahdawn: That's a funny thing. It would have scared me, too. I hope the spotting stops.
I just got back from my 16week OB appt. It went well. DH came with me this time so he got to hear the heartbeat on the doppler.:) It took the nurse a while to find the heartbeat. That made DH and I very nervous. One cool thing is that where she found the heartbeat is where I felt the spasms/twitches the other night. She said most babies are on the right side of the abdomen, but mine is on the left, so that's why it took her a while to find it. Whew! The heartbeat is still in the 160s.
My uterus is measuring right on track. Feels odd saying that...
My thyroid levels were high from the blood draws at my last appt, so they retook blood to test them again. My OB isn't concerned. She said they normally see higher levels at the first blood draw and normal levels in repeat tests. Just a reaction some women's bodies have to the pregnancy hormones.
Finally they drew blood for the Quadruple screen test. We should get the results in a week. I'm a bit nervous about it.
Oh, and I'm up 3lbs from the last appt.:)
My next OB appt is Sept 20th. My BIG U/S is scheduled for Sept 15th!!!

Elenna, I keep looking at how you are (essentially) 16 weeks and I am (essentially) 13 and keep saying to myself, "Wow, she's so much further along than me...." But then I remember I have a chance at having mine before you do, so I REALLY hope you have your's before me!
Oh, one more day and I'm officially in the second trimester.
And I want to laugh at the fact that only about 1/2 of us (or less) are in the second trimester, but we are already on page 20!

13 weeks today!!!!!
Elena- Glad everything went well at the OB today. I am taking DH to my next appt so he can hear the HB too!
Jenah- You need to take a lazy lesson from me!
E's princess: Sorry for the unpleasant dreams. A psychoanalyst would love to get his hands on their meaning. I think pregnancy puts women in a vulnerable state and your dreams are just reflecting inner fears and insecurities. I keep having dreams that I will neglect my baby or harm him/her in some way. I wouldn't worry about the dreams I think they are normal.
As for me, I am back to waking up at 5am for no reason and not being able to fall back asleep until 30 minutes before my alarm goes off. If it continues to happen I am just going to start getting out of bed and going to work early....

Depends on who you ask or what you read, it varries from 12-14 weeks. Most things I read say it begins at 12 or 13 weeks.
jenah: take it easy. hopefully the spotting will stop. my cousin who was pg at the same time I was pg w/ Landon had spotting throughout her pgcy. She had placenta previa, but it fixed itself before delivery, however she spotted off and on the entire time.
princesscj: maybe your body is just preparing early for what lies ahead (i.e. when the baby is waking you up at all hours!!! ;))
elenna: Glad to hear the dr.'s appt. went well.

Hi ladies!
I'm having crazy dreams too - DH woke me up before he left this morning, and I just burst into tears b/c I'd had such a bad dream...so I'm right there with the rest of you...I also had a dream a while ago that I woke up not pregnant anymore - having had the baby in my sleep, and it had crawled out of my room, my mom had found it and my parents had taken it to the hospital to have it checked out, leaving me home, figuring I needed the sleep - think I'm a little worried about my mom's potential overinvolvement? :D
Elena - I'm so jealous that you've felt the baby!!! I can't wait until I feel it move! And I'm heading in to get my blood work done for my Quad Screen next week...
Yesterday I was miserable - I seem to feel better today, but yesterday was basically as bad as it's been. Ugh - isn't it supposed to be BETTER now, not WORSE? :confused:

I've been having the vivid dreams too although luckily they haven't been nightmares. They've mostly included people I haven't seen in many, many years. It definitely makes for less restful sleep.
As I mentioned earlier, I can definitely empathize with those of you going through crying spells and feeling like your emotions are out of your control. I had three days last week that I couldn't keep myself from crying and starting stupid disagreements with my DH.
I'd be mad too if my plant were stolen. I love houseplants and have always had them in the office.
I went to some consignment stores to see if they had any good maternity clothes/baby gear. I didn't find anything worth buying. The maternity clothes were mostly from Old Navy which are mostly inexpensive to start with that I'd rather buy new.

I had my first prenatal visit a few weeks ago on 07.24.06 and we saw the baby on U/S so now I feel ready to join the Feb '07 mommas! Everything has been going great, with exception to the nausea, tiredness, and sore hips but I've noticed this week as I've moved into the 2nd trimester the nausea is definitely dissipating (whew!). DH and I are parents to a beautiful 5 month old boy who was born in March and can't wait to give him a little brother or sister. Yes, we were aiming to have our two kids close in age!
Our big U/S appointment to reveal the sex is scheduled on 10.19.06.

Yay a new member, Welcome Spellbound!!!
Dreams - Yes mine have been vivid as well and most are very sexual. (Maybe that's why I'm not so interested in DH, poor guy) But b/c these dreams are so vivid, I've been having "wet dreams" as boys call them. I'd had maybe two my entire life and now it's nearly every night, multiple times a night. Thankfully not many nightmares yet, but I'm sure that could change depending on what movie or tv show I watch.

Spellbound- Welcome!! I love the name Keegan, so cute!
DP- I have had the same problem. DH asked me yesterday if I had an affair in my dream b/c I was moaning in my sleep. YIKES!! Hopefully, I wasn't saying anyones name. One night, I was with Brad Pitt and he was hosting a wet T-shirt contest??? I never dream about celebrities so it was really strange. The night before last it was with a guy I used to work with, but in my dream I wasn't married or pregos, but i did have a smokin hot body. I always have a much hotter body in my dreams =) The girlfriends guide says this kind of dream is very common. I'm not complaining though, guys shouldn't get to have all the fun when it comes to dreams!

Welcome Spellbound!
Sorry I haven't had much time to post. My sleeping patterns are all out of wack. I pee 4-5 times at night and eat a snack at 4AM because baby is hungry! On top of that DH's snoring which never used to bother me, now does and I can't sleep because of it.
Last Dr. appointment: The day before my most recent appointment, I had some slight numbing pain on the right side of my abdomen. I mentioned it to my doctor and she said it should be okay and nothing to worry about. As my doctor was looking for the baby's heartbeat using the doppler, she couldn't find the baby's heartbeat! :confused: I was SO nervous. She asked me to wait in the waiting room to do an ultrasound to see the baby's heartbeat. I asked my husband if he could come with me just in case we hear bad news. I prayed and prayed that the baby was okay as we waited. Then as she was doing the ultrasound she found the baby. I kept looking for the little thumping heartbeat to reassure myself that everything was okay. She finally found it! :) She said that she probably couldn't hear the heartbeat with the doppler because of the thickness of my skin (what she really meant was that my FAT is blocking the baby from the doppler). Oh I was SO relieved. Also, during the ultrasound, we saw the baby boxing. It was so cute.
Morning Sickness: I don't have m/s anymore. However, I just started having a migraine today. It may be because, I need more water. I drink more juices and milk. I need to drink more water.
Weird dreams: I too have have my share of crazy weird dreams. I had
- a dream where my father who passed was holding a baby. They were wearing matching uniforms.(My dad was a bus driver!)
- a dream where someone was chasing me, then stabbed my stomach, causing me to bleed
- a dream of my ex-boyfriend's dad who passed years ago. I told him that I missed my ex. But in reality, he cheated on me and I would NEVER go back to him.
- a dream where I was giving birth on the couch and trying to stuff the baby back in because, I wasn't due yet. Oh and chocolate milk gushed out when the baby was born. :eek:
Stretchmarks: Anyyone getting stretchmarks? I started getting them last week. I bought the Palmer's cocoabutter lotion and have been using it but, I read somewhere that it doesn't work. Anyone know what does work?

Spellbound - Welcome!
dreams - I haven't had any strange ones yet. I did get them after the baby was born though. I always dreamed that DS was in bed with us and one of us was always rolling on top of him. DH said he would always find me with my arm in a position like I was holding a baby and he said when he would wake me up, I would tell him to be careful not to roll over on DS in my half-awake sleep.
stretchmarks - I used the Cocoa Butter by Palmer's religiously and never got stretch marks. I've heard it is mostly deterimed by genetics...basically how elastic your skin is. My doctor said though, to drink lots of water, so your skin is mosturized and to try and not gain too quickly.

Fashionista - holy pregnant belly!!!!
Everyone's belly shots are super cute. I have none from DD and I have none now. I'm a bit on the chunky-butt side and do not like to have my picture taken. This may change once I know I'm showing and look more pregnant than just fat. With DD, I went straight out and was HUGE. From the back, you had no idea I was pregnant. From the side...lawdy!!! DH would chuckle when I walked around nekkid. He's like 'Aren't you going to tip over with that baby hanging out in front like that?' No honey. My big ass anchors me down. I'm 5'3". Even if I did tip over, I'm not going far. Why are men so stupid sometimes. I want to put DD in a sling and make DH tie it around his body so DD sits right at tummy level and make him walk around for an hour. She's just about 25 lbs and would give him the sense of how much weight one carries at full term at that level.
Glad to hear that m/s is waning for almost everyone. Mine is much better and I find that I can go a bit longer between meals. No real cravings for anything and not much in the way of aversions. Which makes me think I'm having a boy.
DH and I sat in our spare room, which is also a den of sorts, and starting talking nursery talk. We talked about where the sleeper couch, desk, larger dresser and toe breaker would go and what we would move it. We then discussed the mad hatter's room and how we could make it a big girl's room for not a lot of money. We need to replace the carpet in both rooms and will probably do it when Luna or Empire has a 'carpet one room get the second free' special. I did decide that if this one is a girl, the room would be done in light pink, chocolate brown and white. If it's a boy the room will be done in a lighter blue and navy with white. DD's room is bright yellow and Atomic Vomit Green (lime green...its a Jimmy Neutron color...DD LOVES that cartoon and DH loved the paint name) with bugs and flowers for decor. I love her room and even with the loud colors, it's comforting and sweet. And since DD is loud and bossy, it suits her to a T.
Going to do some maternity shopping this weekend. I'm getting low on pants I can wear. Plus it's getting a bit cooler and I need to beef up my long sleeved shirt/sweater area. I got a $100 award from work and turned it in for Motherhood Maternity gift cards, so they had better get to me by Saturday!!

MrsSki- I'm so glad to hear that DD had a bright nursery. If its a girl I am doing a total DIVA theme with zebra print outlined with hot pink. I know its loud for an infant, but if shes anything like me she'll be loud. Also, they are only an infant for a very small time and I want something she can grow into. DH is actually totally cool with it and has agreed to paint the walls how I want them. Pastels have never been my thing....eventhough I like them for other people, they just don't suite my personality. Now if its a boy we are using rancherswife's theme and doing cowboys and horses.
I could talk nurseries all day!
Fashion- cute preg belly! As for stretchmarks...I've heard there's no way to avoid them, but to lessen the effects drink lots of water, avoid the sun and try not to gain too much too quickly.
I did my prenatal yoga video for the first time last night.... The 3 months I have set on my ass has really stiffened me up. I was actually out of breath at one point (and it's an easy tape) I'm glad I'm starting now. I think I will enroll in class as well b/c I can't ever tell if I'm doing the poses properly. I can definatley see how Yoga can help with labor I will for sure keep it up!

fashionista: Darling belly!!! Oh and by the looks of your body, I highly doubt you have too much FAT to hear the h/b, it was probably more like the way the baby was positioned when she was trying the doppler. You don't look fat AT ALL. You look pregnant! :)
stetch marks: Well, I applied Palmer's from about 10 weeks on, I thought I was going to get away w/ NO stretch marks, then my belly was COVERED in them from about 6 1/2 months on. They're SOOO GROSS! But, totally worth it. HA! I told dh, they were just starting to fade when I got pg again! Oh well....I don't mind, I'm not planning on poseing for Playboy in the near future! ;) I think if you're gonna get em', you're gonna get em', no matter how much cocoa butter you put on your tummy.

dreams: I had a doozy of a weird dream last night. There were zombies everywhere and I was taking care of a zombie baby. I had to keep feeding it a bottle with a mixture of 90% garlic/10% milk to keep it from trying to eat me and possibly cure it. I think my subconscious confused zombies with vampires for that dream.:rolleyes:
fashionista: Cute belly! You totally look pregnant.
PrincessCJ: What prenatal yoga video do you have? Is it good?
MrsSki: Nice award from work! I hope you get the gift cards soon.
stretchmarks: Every woman in my family got them so I've pretty much resigned myself to getting them. I don't have them yet. I might try the Palmer's cocoa butter stuff, but it'll just be for fun.

Elena- The video I have is from Target it's called "Prenatal Yoga w/ Shiva Rea". It's okay....I think it could get really boring after awhile, but I can definatley see it helping. They do a lot of lunges, squats and kegal(?sp) exercises, which I've heard are all helpful excercises in labor. I will probably get another video too just to mix things up!

E'sprincess- those are super-creepy dreams! OMG! (sorry for the teen-talk!) I hate scary dreams, but I have to admit, those are way worse than any of mine. I hear crazy dreams are normal though. about the car, check the coolant level (when the engine is cold) and check the oil level. Other than that, take it in to a place that can read the computer in your car. There is a way to check the engine codes yourself, but you have to have the haynes manual for your car. It gives you step by step instructions on how to read the codes. (my dad is a mechanic) It might not be a big deal, but don't let it wait too long.
MrsSki- sounds like you have faced a lot of loss in the past. I am so sorry. You must be a strong woman! I can't believe this is your second and your clothes are still fitting. I am so jealous. I can't button any of my pants and my bb's are so huge it is crazy! I wish it was getting cooler here, I am dying in this 105 degree weather...
jenah- I can totally relate to your scare this morning. Once my husband kissed me goodbye and I heard him leave, then hopped in the shower. I was washing my hair with my eyes closed and then next thing I know someone had banged on the shower door and yelled. I almost died. We have a translucent shower door, so I could see shapes, but not a face and I thought it was an intruder. I screamed at the top of my lungs (which i never do) and he opened the shower door and apologized about 20 times, but I couldn't even speak, I was so frightened! It took about 5 minutes for my heart to slow down. If I heard another toilet flush when I was supposed to be home alone, I think I would freak out and call 911! good thinking calling your dh first!
Welcome Spellbound!- I want my children close together too. I think it's great!
dpangel- I am so jealous! At least you are having some eroticism in your life... I have none. I am sure dh is really missing me, but I just don't seem to be interested. Although, Yesterday I was reading the second book in the clan of the cave bear series and there was a really erotic part, and I was wishing my husband was home, so maybe things are on the upswing. anyone else disinterested in sex?
Fashionista- nice belly shot! I am glad someone else is really showing with me. I promise to take a picture tonight and post it soon! I am so glad the baby is okay! What a relief!
PrincessCJ- I am glad to hear that I may have other dog-watching options! It is nice to know there are other dog people out there with me! What prenatal video do you have. I need to get one, but I don't know which one is best! Never mind, I just read your next post...
Elenna- congrats on 16 weeks. I feel more "pregnant" now. I know that seems crazy, but 16 weeks sounds good to me! Okay, now that is a crazy dream. I must be passed out, because I am not remembering dreams at all.

I love hearing what people are going to do with the nurseries. I saw this bedding when we bought out crib and I loved it.
http://www.tinybed.com/Spa-4-Piece-Set-by-Glenna-Jean-P2333.aspx?src=GGL&cpn=gje_spa&kwd=glenna+jean+spa&s_kwcid=glenna%20jean%20spa|544473860
I refuse to pay $300 for a 4- piece set (or even $250 on ebay) and I want to make my own bedding, so now I am on a hunt to find some cool modern fabric like this. I ordered some swatches the other day and I hope they get here soon. We also have some pretty cool designer fabric stores here in Dallas and I have been to a few, but I have so much more looking to do. I just loved this because it is so velvety soft, but I am determined to find something that I love that I can make (for about 1/3 of the price). We thought these colors would be good for a boy or a girl and since we are not finding out, it is perfect. My other option is making two sets, and selling the one we don't use on ebay when the baby is born!
If any of you creative types know of some great online fabric stores let me know. I have been to a few, but I love new ideas!
My belly is growing at a rapid rate. I really need to take a belly shot. I WILL do it tonight. Mine isn't as cool as fashionistas, but it is getting there. It is not just a pooch either, mine is my entire abdomen (which isn't much since I am 5'2"). I am going to be all belly. I just know it. I can't wait for it to out-pace my bb's!

I always seem to have marathon posts, sorry girls!

We aren't doing a seperate nursery so ds and new baby will share. Ds is a social little guy so he will probably love that. He already gets really upset if he is alone.
I finally made my appt today. They are sneaking me in Monday. I love my dr. DS is going to freak since tomorrow is his one year check-up.

Hi ladies! What a busy day it's been - this is the first time I've even been able to hop on to check in...
Nursery - here's a link to the bedding we've picked out - it's pretty neutral, but I LOVE it.
Patchwork Pooh (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2415159&cp=&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2255957&origkw=patchwork+pooh&kw=patchwork+pooh&parentPage=search)
I can't quite believe it, but DH and I are going to check out a daycare center near us tomorrow - craziness!!! We're only looking for something a couple days/week, but the way they work is a flat monthly infant fee, and you can have the baby come & go as much as you'd like - they have their own crib (no crib sharing) so once they've got their spot, the schedule is flexible...we'll see!
m/s was bad again this morning -I seem to be way more sensitive to brushing my teeth than I was - that's my trigger :( Hopefully this wont' last very long! I'm sitting here at my desk now eating leftovers of Mac & "Dairy Product" :D I'll go home soon, but I couldn't wait another hour plus to eat!!!
Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? We're having a pretty chill weekend (I hope!) but we are going to the Phillies game Sat night w/ DH's dad, stepmom, brother & his wife...should be fun!

I have NO appetite. Although he's coming home after work to make me noodles with some butter and salt and pepper so I at least have some carbs in me so they can play parasite and keep getting bigger!

Bombera Thanks. For about 10 years, on my even birthdays, always 2-3 weeks after, I would lose a family member. The most hurtful was my nephew who was 6 months and I had never met (and we aren't sure my brother was the father, but whatever) and my brother 4 years apart to the day. I've had a lot of therapy and I have a very close older lady friend that practices the Wiccan religion and is a Grief and Recovery Specialist. This friend sent me the most AMAZING book to read and it was very spiritual. It helped me through a lot. And I have a second cousin, who at the very tender age of 7 said to me 'You know, J's not dead. God had something else for him to do and took him to do that very important task'. That lives with me today and coming from a 7-year old was very moving and it changed a lot about the way I thought of death. I was VERY angry for a long time, but I'm at peace and see things a bit differently. So if that makes me strong, then I am Hercules :D .
Princess I love that nursery!!! Unfortunately, one diva in my house is enough.
I had to wear maternity pants today because I woke up feeling heavy in my abdomen. Thank goodness it's not constipation. I've had a pretty stressful couple days and working longer hours than normal, so that may be the problem.
Weekend plans - I'm trying to talk DH into trading in his junk heap before his bonus comes through. Because that gives me leverage to get rid of my junk heap in the spring and I really want him to have a new car so he'll quit spending hours on his laptop at night looking at cars. I have a lunch date on Sunday with a girlfriend at the mall and that's all ME time. No DH and no DD. I'm super excited about that.

I've finally hit 15 wks. M/s still here though. Some days are better than others though. I've felt the baby move which is earlier than I felt DD move. I was just never sure it was her until I was 17/18 wks. This time I first felt it a few weeks ago but couldn't actually believe I was feeling it so soon. Well, I've felt it again and know that it's the baby. Such an amazing feeling. I am looking foward to the kicks and seeing my belly move again. And to see DD's reaction to it all. Though I know that when the kicks start getting much harder it won't be quite as much fun or while I'm trying to sleep. DD always seemed to have a party about the time I wanted to go to sleep.
And my belly has really seemed to pop. I wasn't quite expecting it so soon but it's happened.
phillytiger ~ We did a Winnie the Pooh theme with DD's room and it's turned out to be one of her most favorite characters. She can recognize all the characters whenever she sees them.
stretch marks ~ I didn't get any (and then it was just one or two) until I was in my 39/40th wk. I had thought that I had made it without getting any. No such luck. I used cocoa butter everyday and need to start doing it again. I don't think it really mattered though but it did make my belly feel better, less itchy and not as dry. If you are going to get them, you'll get them. No miracle cure exists for preventing them unfortunately.
Well, I need to go. I'll be back later and post more.

Okay, here is my first belly shot at 16 weeks. I think it is funny how all our bodies are carrying differently. My new belly takes up my entire abdomen, while some just have a small pooch at their tummy. My belly button is already getting shallow. I am not looking forward to having an "outie" sticking out of all my shirts... Oh, the joys of pregnancy!
Have a great day everybody!

Oh, Threadmistress, you can use this photo in the ID!
One more photo, here is the crib we bought a couple of weeks ago. DH and I both agreed on it, and that is rare! It is not solid black, it is just a dark brown stain so you can still see the wood grain. I like the way the sides are solid, but there is still a place to tie a bumper!

Wow what a great Friday I'm having. I get to work 10 minutes late and my boss pulls me and another co-worker into her office to yell at us for being late. I'm rarely late and I usually don't take a lunch, so being 10 minutes late should not be a big deal and HELLO can we say m/s. She doesn't have children so she doesn't understand that sometimes the mornings are pretty rough. Maybe it's just my hormones over reacting, but I'm pretty irritated!

PrincessCJ: Sounds like your boss might be having a bad day, too. I hope your day gets better. It's FRIDAY!!
Bombera: Nice belly shot! I'm curious to see what we're all having. You look like you have a girl belly.
dpangel: I can't see your belly shots.:(
usafwife: That's awesome that you are feeling the baby move.
Phillytiger: Have fun at the Philly's game.
Daniel's Kitty: I hope you have a good appt Monday.
Has anyone else been pouring over the bellyshots thread? I just can't seem to stay away from it. I keep going back and comparing my belly to everyone else's. The way my belly is right now I think it looks like a boy belly.
Weekend plans: Nothing fun planned here. We're moving the bedrooms around this weekend.

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted. I've been trying to keep up with all the posts.
Today is the first "OB" appointment. I've been seeing my infertility dr. up until this time. It's finally time to make the transition.
The real reason I'm posting....
Do you think it's terrible that I'm not super excited about creating a nursery? I don't want to find out whether we're having a boy/girl, and I don't want to buy a lot of "stuff" decorating the nursery. All I can see doing is repainting the room green and getting a crib, dresser/changing table and maybe a sliding rocking chair.
I do not want a matching rug & lamp. I do not want a wallpaper border or countless stuffed animals in the room.
I told a couple of people this and they think I'm crazy for not wanting to go all out in creating the perfect nursery. yuck.

Those of you feeling the baby, that is awesome! I can't wait to hit that point.
Kathy, I get it. I'm the same as you. In fact, I'll prob just take my sister's crib from her 2 kids because hey, it's free and it's fine. I'm not into themes and patterns. I'll be happy with a few nice solid color sheets made of soft fabric. I know we are n't the norm, but we're not alone!

Just popping in to give an update on me...
I still have m/s but it's getting a little better.
I had an ob appt yesterday and got to hear the hb again. The second the doppler hit my belly, we could hear it.
My co-worker and I broke the news to our boss last week and he seemed to take it really well. I told him how sick I've been and he's being really flexible about me taking time off even though I haven't taken advantage of it. I'm slowly telling others at work about it. I've already had 2 offers to throw a baby shower.
We've also booked our Hawaii trip for Labor Day week. We're going to the Big Island for 4 days and Oahu for 2. We've been to Oahu 3 times already but we're going back just to hang out and shop. I'm so excited and I know we won't be going on any vacations after this for a while. I hope my m/s is gone by then but if not, I'd rather be lazy on a beach than at work.
Threadmistresses, please update my info:
-My next OB appt is on Sept. 15
-My BIG ULTRASOUND is on Sept. 29 (The day after our wedding anniversary!)

wierd dreams - yeah, mine have been extremely wierd. Even more than normal. I keep dreaming that my teeth are falling out. I had one a few weeks ago where every single one fell out. Then last night I dreamt that my middle bottom tooth fell out. Nevermind that no one has just one exact middle bottom tooth, but two instead. And the wierdest one yet - I dreamt I had a threesome with 2 other girls!! Whatever the hell that was about, idk. I've never been teh type to even consider a 3some (married or not) even in college, and never been sexually interested in women either so I have no idea where that one came from.

Rescuing us off the second page.
babae: Wow, I'm jealous. Have fun in Hawaii!
Kathywathy: I don't want to create the perfect nursery either. I especially don't want to create a matchy-matchy room (it just is not my style). But I do want to create a space that says "This is my baby's room".
Hand-me-down furniture: I wish I could get some hand-me down furniture to save some $$. But everyone in my family has had a baby this year, so all of it is still being used.
We didn't get much moved around this weekend. We pretty much spent it weeding down our library of books to be able to fit into the new space. It seemed to take forever, but we got the library cleared out. Now, we just have to move our bedroom down into that space, then the home office up into our vacated bedroom. Then we can get started on the nursery.:) I think it'll take us another two weeks at the rate we're going.
For the first time ever, I almost threw up from a scene in a movie. We saw "Snakes on a plane" and one scene was just a bit too much for me to stomach (which normally, non-pg me wouldn't have flinched at). I actually stuck my head in the almost empty popcorn bag because I came so close to losing it.

This weekend... Eric and I did NOTHING... It was awesome.. Saturday we just layed in bed until 11, then hung around the house in our PJ. His sister's flight was suppose to come in around 12, but was delayed until 6p. So we did nothing... I took an mid afternoon nap, which allowed me to stay up a little later on Sat. night and catch up on our DVR movies. I loved it.. such a nice and relaxing weekend. Sunday more of the same, but Eric woked up before me, but let me sleep in.. awe... ;) I finally took a shower, and did some grocery shopping.. but afterthat, more of lounging around.. Not to much fun, however so relaxing. I'm goign to pay for it this week though. Every night I have stuff going on.. ugh. but what a weekend to remember.
I'm so jealous of everyone that can feel their baby, I haven't yet. or I really don't know what I should be feeling. I will be taking another picture this week, becasue I'm offically 4 months along. I started thinking about this in the shower, I'm 1/3 of my way thru the pregnancy. Kinda made me a little sad. M/S has hopefully subsided for a bit. I'm definately looking more and more pregnant every day. so This is what 2nd trimester is all about... LOL
Hand-me-downs ~ The only thing I think we're getting as hand me downs is the crib. I posted a picture of it in my journal, it's an awesome sleigh bed crib from Baby's Dream, next Generation in Honey Oak. It's in near Perfect condition.
My Doctor's appt. So I go in last Friday to my appt. to get the blood draw for that test I had done. Thier like your a week early we can't draw you today... UGH well someone should have checked on that before I took off of work for this... so a wasted trip out their... My next appt is Sept 8 and then I make the "Big" appt. I asked him about scheduling it then, but he's like patience my dear... lol... uh, no not really.. lol

PrincessCJ... I would definately say their safe to use, but if you have a rash or anything starts showing up, I would discontinue using it. But I have been using the Natural Glow and have no problems. But the Veet system (Hair removal) I had a horrible reaction to that.. which I have used in the past and been fine with. I was told to stay away for anything with a chemical in it. I think everyone is different and if you have no reaction to it, then it should be fine. HTH.

Happy Monday Moms!
Hope everyone had a good weekend. We spent Saturday cleaning out the closet in the room where the new nursery is going to be. I can't believe the junk we were just tossing in there to get out of the way!! Plus, being pregnant for the second time has made me realize that those formal dresses that have been hanging in the back of the closet for the last 5 years are never going to grace this body again. And those bridesmaid dresses and artificial floral bouquets.....not going to see another wedding, that's for sure. I have almost 2 large garbage bags of clothes, shoes and dresses to go to the Cancer Federation between myself and DD. We got everything ripped out of the closet, got it spackled, sanded and painted. Yesterday after I got home from my luncheon with the ladies and some maternity clothes shopping (I got three pairs of pants, a bathing suit and a turtleneck sweater for $125..actually it was only $25 out of pocket for me!!) we put in the closet organizer.
I can tell you, DD is starting to get VERY put out by the fact that her 'other' bedroom is a mess. She's suspecting something is going to happen because we've moved so much around and I went through all my clothes and her clothes and have made piles. She's tried to put her stuff away back in her room and I told her that we had to help other babies who could use her stuff that didn't fit. She was fine with that and then started to bring me EVERYTHING to put in the piles. It was very sweet but also created a bit more work.
M/S has started to subside noticeably. Thank goodness. And the forbidden cup of coffee this morning with my breakfast sandwich was super delish and I feel SO much better than I did earlier. Must have been the protein from the sausage and egg.
Have a great day!

Threadmistress -- actually no, I meant the ultrasound. It's still not showing up for me, but I saw it on there a day or two ago so I imagine it's been updated but just for some reason not always working. No worries, just leave it as is and hopefully at some point it will reappear. Thanks!
Elenna - I saw Snakes on a Plane this weekend too! Quite gross, though I wasn't feeling sick then so no throw-up urges.
Question: Of course, feel free not to answer this if you don't want to, but I would love to get a sense of how much weight people have gained so far. I know it's different for everyone, but it would still be informative. I think I've only gained a pound or two (though my stomach is certainly larger). I'm not making a conscious effort to eat more calories, I'm just basically eating when I'm hungry. But I do wonder at what point I'm supposed to have gained more than that...

fsb, I was up 4 lbs at one appt, down 6 the next, so, according to that, I've lost 2 lbs. But, since my US at 12 wks one measured 12 w, the other 12w 1d, they are doing what they need to.
hand-me-down-furniture: We've got two cribs coming. I don't care that they won't match because they are the right price. They are getting my old dresser that I have had since I was a baby. (Plus our new bedroom set is coming today) We'll end up buying a changing table/dresser (to have it function after it's done being used as a changing table, since we're only having 2) and my dad is going to buy us a rocking chair for their room. Otherwise, there's no other furniture we will need for their room.
For the first few weeks they will be in a pack-n-play near us in our bedroom. We've decided we are going to have three of those. One's already up at my parent's from my brother (his youngest is 2). My other brother offered us their's, so that's probably going to the in law's, depending on the condition. (Their youngest is 5, their oldest 12) So we will only need one for here, and, if we don't get one immediately, we'll probably be able to borrow one temporarily from someone here until we do. (I can see it being a very early purchase)
ANOTHER qotd: Does anyone else feel...I don't want to say superstitious, but nervous about buying stuff? My next appt is 9/5, and I probably won't see them until the 10/5 appt, and with all of the issues I've been having, I'm nervous to buy anything.
The other night (Friday) I got a REALLY hard lump low right that stayed for just a few seconds. Afterwards, the area was tender, not really sore. One of the local girls (the one who has twins) thinks it was them. Because it's exciting to me, I'm going with that!

dreams sex dreams are the worst! Although last night I dreamt I wasn't pregnant and that the test was wrong and I was just getting fat. FSB- I initially lost 3 or 4 pounds and I still haven't gained it back at 14 weeks. My stomach and BBs are enormous though, they have definatley grown. My butt and thighs have slimmed down a little?!?! I don't really watch what I eat or my calorie intake; I'm just not craving many foods (cereal, soup, milk)
Jenah- I feel the exact same way. We haven't bought anything yet, nor do I think we will for awhile..
I'm also having issues buying myself maternity clothes, we have gone shopping 3 or 4 times now and I just won't buy anything. This is not like me at all...I LOVE TO SHOP! I think I'm just scared something might happen.
Hand-Me-Downs- We are getting a crib from my SIL and a bassionette from my sis and I'm sure a ton of other things from my family b/c our baby will be the youngest grandchild. If it's a girl we are set on stuff b/c my sis & cousin have a ton of NBW clothes that will be handed down! My sis had a ton of duplicate items so she kept a set at her in-laws; the items were rarely used so they are in great condition!!!! Woo-Hoo!

Weight I haven't gained any yet. I lost about 5 lbs during the 1st trimester and haven't gained them back yet. I've got enough extra padding that I'm not worried about not having gained.
Buying Stuff I'm not quite ready to buy much yet since the space isn't ready and we don't have a lot of storage. We're going to focus on our kitchen renovation in Sept and then get started on the nursery after that.
Welcome Spellbound!
Kathywathy I wouldn't feel bad about not being into matchy nurseries. Ultimately your love for the baby will win out over any bedding. I like to look at the creative nurseries people put together, but when it comes down to it ours will probably be simple and not all together matching.
I'm still feeling mostly okay with emotional days here and there. I'm trying to train myself to stay off my back which hasn't been easy. I'll probably be looking for a pillow before long. I bought a birthing ball recently and I've been doing some basic exercises on it.

Weight - I've been gaining plenty of weight. I think I'm up to 8 pounds now. :rolleyes: I've had to buy new bras and my stomach is definitely bigger. I've been so damn tired that the exercise has really taken a header. I'm hoping that now that I'm 13 weeks I'll start to get some energy back and head back to the gym.
My cousin was telling me that she didn't gain anything in her first trimester... maybe 2 pounds. Then she went into her next appointment and had gained 10 lbs in a month, and burst into tears at the doctor's office. So you just never know when the weight will hit you. Maybe it never will - who knows.
Buying Stuff - I have no qualms about buying stuff. I'd rather find stuff at a good price and buy it now rather than wait until I have to buy it and not get a good value. I guess I'm a practical buyer rather than a superstitious buyer. :)
I've found the dresser I want (http://www.macofurniture.com/catalog/model.cfm?M01=1&MOID=ALDR-A/S9XS48), which is an unfinished dresser that mom & her friend will finish to match the crib we found on clearance a couple of weeks ago. I think that's about all we'll need unless I decide I want a bookshelf, in which case it'll be the same brand as the dresser. I don't plan on buying clothes or other little things, both because we're not finding out what gender we're having, and cause my family likes to buy that kind of stuff so I'll let 'em. ;)

Weight wise, I'm up a bit..almost 10 pounds at 14 weeks. But I gained most of that right away when I was having to eat every 2 hours. I do know that everyone gains differently. So it's hard to say what is normal.
As for buying stuff, it's not a superstitious thing as much as a practical thing. I'm no where near ready to think about a nursery or anything. That's our project over Christmas break. But then again, all I need to buy is basic bedding and a dresser. I've been maternity clothes shopping but not finding anything that I could even use yet. I'm not anxious to buy much until I need it because I am picky about clothes and how they fit me.

Weight... I know everyone gonna "hate" me.. but because my M/S had/has been so bad, I actually lost 12 lbs. It's been the best diet I could have asked for. But I think it might be changing. M/S is slowly going away and I have to eat EVERYTHING is sight.. lol I have gained 1 lbs so far...
Shopping... I have bought some maternity clothes, but as for baby stuff, not really. We have the crib already, and furniture will have to come in a couple of months, my vehicle lease is up in Oct. so that's next. Clothes I will have to definately wait on until we find out the gender... but my friend is selling her car seat and stroller set for $50. It's Eddie Bauer so it's a pretty good brand. So I'm going to go and pick that up Thursday.

weight I'm down 3 lbs. With DD, I didn't gain anything until I was 6 months and then it was 10 lbs between my 5th and 6th month. I ended up gaining 25 lbs total (and was 1 week overdue) and lost about 35. Of course I gained 10 lbs after bf'ing stopped and I was back to sitting at my desk 9 hours a day.
shopping For maternity, obviously. I'm not wearing any of the shirts, but I am wearing some of the pants. They are just more comfy and since I sit at a desk all day, I need that or I'm not productive.
Baby stuff DD is 2.5, so we are making her room into a big girl room and moving her crib, dresser and glider into the new nursery. As for baby clothes, if we have another girl, we are all set. I have 6 bins of clothes in the attic (which was pared down from 10) ranging from newborn to 24 months. And since DD was born in May, this new baby will be able to wear all the cute 0-3 month summer stuff that DD didn't. If it's a boy, then we are having to buy some new. I got some from my sister, but it's a small bin. The only 'gear' I'll have to buy is probably a portable swing. DD hated hers and so I gave it to a friend to use. I'd prefer the portable because it sits closer to the floor, folds up nicely and we can travel with it. And possibly a double stroller. I'm think tho, that I'd rather buy the stroller that has the step/seat for an older child. We have a lightweight foldable stroller for DD right now and a BabyTrend stroller frame that the infant seat locks in to. But I'm not sure DH will go for the two separate stroller thing since DD likes to walk mostly.
Soft Sheets Pottery Barn Kids has the most amazing shammy sheets in solid colors. Holy cow, I want one for our bed. It washes up wonderfully and is so, so, so soft. A bit pricey, but I thought well worth it.

Okay, I know I'm joining really late, but here I am anyway! I'm due March 9th, but my first baby was born 3 weeks early, and it's highly possible this one will be at least a week or so early, too.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! :D I'm catching up on the last few pages and wanted to pipe in about the nursery planning. I'm a bit of a bad mommy in the sense that our son's nursery isn't completely finished even though he's 5 months old! There's still the toy box I want DH to build and I have some final touches that are begging to be finished. Now that I'm officially in the 2nd trimester though I'm thinking I'm going to dive right in...after all, I'm already getting ideas for what I want to do for the next one! Which leads me to answering the QOTDs:
Hand-Me-Downs: I don't have a problem with it, though DH is a little weary. Keegan has everything new, with exception to a small used dresser I bought and a rocking chair my husband refinished. I wanted a completely different type of crib however for Baby #2...sort of shabby chic (Keegan's is black and contemporary) and fell in love with one that I found on Craigslist for a fantastic price. It needs a little TLC cosmetic work but it's safe and sturdy, so we bought it! DH is saying we better have a girl though or else I'm gonna have to rework my ideas on this crib. :p
Buying Stuff: From day one I've been referring to Baby #2 as a "she." I did the same with Keegan, certain that he was a boy, and calling him a "he." I'd love to go out and buy a few things...but I'm doing my best to wait until October when we have the ultrasound.
Weight: I have my 2nd appointment this Thursday so I'll be able to pipe in exactly on this. I still have my padding from the prior pregnancy but I think I've gained perhaps a total of 4 pounds? This is guessing from the way things are fitting. I'll see the big number in a few days!
