philly: You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry you are going through such a rough time. If there is anything we can do, please let us know. Hang in there.

jenah: I hope I didn't come across like I missed you only for your humor. I sure didn't mean to, if I did. Just know that we are all here for you, and throughout this, your strength to carry on has been incredibly inspiring! ((hugs))

x-mas gifts: I may buy him a little outfit or something, but nothing too exciting or big. I'm sure my parents and dh's parents will buy him something. They bought for Landon when I was pg w/ him and we didn't even know the sex yet! lol

freaking out about time: Uh...yeah! That's an understatement!!! I keep looking in Reece's room thinking, crap, I have NOTHING DONE!!! However, we really don't have much to do in there except for the muralists painting, which she is set up to do over her x-mas break. We built our house just over two years ago and haven't really stored anything in that room, so I'm not stressed about that, I really don't know what I'm stressed about. Maybe just having two kids, very soon!!! ;) I need to order my stroller that I've picked out, which is on back order until January from the site I was originally going to order it from, I need to see if it's on backorder everywhere. Also, need to take my mom to BRU and order the furniture in the next month. I don't remember having this feeling when I was pg w/ Landon. I think the thing that's freaking me out the most is that, it's almost November, and I don't know about everyone else, but for us, once November hits, it's CRAZY and Christmas is here and gone in the blink of an eye, and after x-mas, that's not that much time before the baby is due!!!

Our dog passed away the night before last. He was old and had been sick for quite a while, but we expected he'd probably make it to meet the baby. He had been doing fairly well on his medicine and then had a hard day on Tuesday and decided to quit just as we were putting our shoes on to take him to the animal hospital. It's odd to have both of our dogs gone now and to come home to it so quiet. I'm sad, but this is nowhere the grief that many of you are experiencing. It's been tough for my DH who really loved this dog.

On another subject, I'm starting to be noticeably pregnant to the public and it's strange. Each time I've been asked something, it takes me a minute to realize they are talking to me (since I never told them I was pregnant).

x-mas gifts: I hadn't thought about buying specific gifts. I'm sure he'll get some things from family and something from us that we can't resist buying.

freaking out about time: I had a moment recently where I was like plenty of time to get ready at the beginning, but the time has really flown by.

jenah: I'm sitting here trying very hard not to cry. That poem was beautiful. It is perfectly ok for you not to feel like joking.

E'sprincess: Lee used to stop moving whenever DH would put his hand on my belly. I'm sure your little one will move out of that phase really soon and your DH will finally be able to feel her.

x-mas gift: I never even though about DH and I getting Lee a gift for X-mas. I'll bring it up with DH. We've asked family to get us X-mas gifts off our registries.

freaking out: Yep, I'm kinda freaking out here too. We still don't have the soon-to-be nursery completely cleared out of DH's office stuff. We also haven't bought any nursery furniture, yet.

classes: Our first birthing class is next Wednesday night. It is 6 two hour classes that meets once a week.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance and your thoughts about measuring small. It really helps to hear it. I'm feeling a bit better about it today.

I just realized today that I'm now down to double digits until my due date. 97 days left. Eeks!

ETA: Aloha: I'm sorry about your dog. He was you and your DH's baby. {{HUGS}}
On another note, isn't it cool to be getting comments from strangers about being pregnant? The first couple times it happened to me it took me a while to realize they were referring to me being pregnant.

Hi everyone,
sorry I have been MIA lately. I am not so good at the posting thing. I have been reading along and have enjoyed reading about all of your little ones. We are expecting another little BOY :) I am super excited my boys will be 2 1/2 years apaprt and hopefully be good friends. Since we are having another little boy there is not a ton of buying or anything that needs to be done. The buying is not starting for my older oneto make him a new 'big boy room" if we ever sell our house and have an extra bedroom for him. Everything else has been going well. I am super tired probably mostly because of my little never stop boy that I have :)
Anway, thanks for checking in on me. I will try to update more often.

Freaking out- I probably should be, seeing as how I have to move out of our 1 brdrm apt and move into an empty house in less than a month. Then I have to get the new house ready for the baby and us between December and January while still keeping all of our holiday plans which require a minimum of 8 hours of driving per family. Oddly enough I'm totally relaxed. I know everything is going to work out just fine and DH will use his super human powers to make things work.

What I am freaking out about is our budget. We've never really had to follow a tight budget before, but with the new house and the baby, DH and I really have to stick to a budget. This is stressing me more than anything!!!!!!

elenna: Glad to hear you're feeling better about things. On a positive note, maybe this means you're just having a baby on the smaller side. **Think...smaller baby (i.e. 6-7 1/2 lbs.)=easier to push out! ;) ** 97 days huh? WOW!!! Time's a tickin'!

aloha: I'm so sorry to hear about your dog.

Hi everyone-Work has been crazy the last few days and I haven't been able catch up on posts until today. I have been on "front desk relief" all week and so whenever the receptionist needs to use the bathroom, get water, go to lunch, socialize (don't get me started on this one) I have to cover the phones. My old boss never let them put me on the rotation because we just had too much to do and she didn't want them treating me like an admin, my new boss apparently doesn't care and so when they asked her, she said fine. I didn't really have a choice, but I did tell them I am not happy about it. Oh well, 13 more weeks of work for me, and I can get through anything. Of course they don't know there here, but they sure are making it easy for me to leave...

Okay, enough work gripes.

The baby and I are doing well.

August2002Bride- Congrats on Team Pink

Elenna- I was freaking out about measuring too big before, but as it turned out, I was just short! Those measurements are pretty arbitrary and a lot of sites I checked out said that some doctors don't even use them anymore. I am sure everything is fine. Sometimes I wish Dr's wouldn't tell you stuff like that if they aren't concerned enough to really check it out! Now you have to worry for 4 more weeks! Try not to, but I know how hard that can be!

Daniel's Kitty- Good to have you back. I am sure you have your hands full- getting back from trips always requires some work when you get back! I hope it was nice to see family. That is the one good thing about funerals, right?

Aloha- I wouldn't downplay your grief over your dog. I know I am one of those crazy animal people who treats my dog like a human. Granted, I don't have any kids to play with yet, just the one growing in me, but my dog is my baby. No doubt about it. He brings a smile to my face everyday and I can't imagine not having him in my life. I freak out about it sometimes, but I do try to realize that his life it limited. It doesn't make it any better. I have had him for 6 1/2 years and I have only known my dh for 3! Gibson and I are inseparable!

Jenah, Jody and Michelle- thanks for posting updates. Know that I will be praying for each of you and your little ones- past and future. Your strength inspires me!

Phillytiger-You are still in my thoughts and prayers

Happy- thanks for the update and congrats on your boy!

Christmas Gifts- Honestly I hadn't thought of it. My family will be here at the end of January and I am sure we will be buying our faces off before and after the baby gets here. I don't anticipate any gifts for baby, but I have told my husband that I just want stuff to help get ready for baby for Christmas, he thinks I am crazy too, usafwife, but I don't really need anything except stuff for the baby! (and a serger, but that is way over our price limit...:p )

Birthing Class- Ours is a Sunday class and starts on Nov 5th. It is three weeks in a row and the classes are 4.5 hours each. Long day! I also want to take the infant cpr class to refresh my skills and dh wants to take that class too. It is pretty expensive at the hospital, so I may try to find one somewhere else. The "basics of baby care" class would be good too, and I made the mistake of calling it a "parenting class" dh freaked out and said he didn't want someone else telling him how to be a parent. When I told him what it was really called, he is more okay with that. Maybe I will just go to that one myself since he acts like he knows it all! He is in for a rude awakening when this baby comes. I am the youngest and he is an only child- neither of us have ever given a newborn a bath before- he just doesn't get it...

Freaking out- I am in that club 100%. We haven't done a thing to the baby's room. right now it is my sewing room and also has these hideous bunk beds of my dh's from when he was a kid. I finally had to tell him that even though they may be "Ethan Allen" that doesn't make the stylish! I am not being a snob, it's just that they are not either of our styles and I am sure he is attached to them because they were his, but it is time to let go. They are just old and 70's style. His cousin has already said she would like them for her kids, so they get to stay in the family- it is just time to make the move! His mother has reminded me 80 million times that they are "ethan allen" and good beds, but now she adds, "but if they just aren't your style..." in that voice that only a MIL can do, you know the one! That woman can be real pushy sometimes! BTW- the mattresses with the bunk beds are the original ones- I want them out of my house! Who knows what is in a 30 y/o mattress!

We have a lot of stuff to do to the room and I think it is last on dh's list of stuff to get done. I am going to move it up on my list and attempt to get all my stuff moved out of there this weekend and into my new sewing room (formerly the sun room, off the entryway). That will be my goal for this weekend.

Kicking baby- Our baby stops kicking when dh wants to feel, but he just says that baby knows better than to kick daddy! he has felt it several times, but I don't think he gets as excited about it as I do. I am trying to get him to talk to the baby, but he feels stupid. One thing he does think is pretty funny is to say "Luke, I am your father" to the baby in a Darth Vader voice, since Lucas is our name if it's a boy. It was funny the first time, now it is just silly! :p

PrincessCJ and DPAngel- I am excited to meet you both this weekend! See you at the cheesecake factory!

Elenna- 99 more days for me! Too exciting!

Okay, back up to the front desk while she is on lunch... Yippee!

Have a great weekend everybody.

Michelle

bombera: Something someone told me yesterday is that the fundal height measurements are just an average so there are going to be people measuring big, some avg, and some measuring small. That perspective really helped. Sorry you're on phone duty. Is that interfering with you getting your own work done?

princessCJ: Moving is stressful, but it is also such a nice clean slate for decorating.

Happy: Congrats on another boy!

I just found out I passed my glucose test! I also found out my iron levels are good and my thyroid levels are now in the normal range! I'm happy I don't have to worry about any of that stuff. (Can you tell I'm a worrywart?:p )

This sounds like me with DD....I was living on my own waiting for closing on our condo....then had to be out 2 weeks before my Due date...moved in with my parents because I didnt want to switch mds with only 2 weeks left and move down with DH to the corp. apartment he had...we had DD 12/1/04...and closed on our house 12/6/04! The moving truck arrived 12/7 with all our stuff!! It was so hectic! But really I was more worried about DH getting back up north with the 2 hour drive when it was time to go to the hospital!

Im not totally freaking this time since we are just going to be using DD nursery and moving her to a new room. So I dont feel as stressed....I just want to paint and get new furniture for the baby.

Freaking out Not yet, tonight will be ds's first big boy bed night so ask me later. :) We have pretty much everything all set up since we redid ds's room we just set it up for two. I need to buy and paint the wall letters and we need to get a highchair. I want to buy a few outfits that were never worn by Ben so that Michael doesn't feel he only gets hand me downs.

We are almost all settled back in except I decided yesterday was a good day to set up ds's room for two so there is some furniture in the living room that needs to get in there and ds tore the house apart while we moved stuff.00

aloha ~ I'm so sorry about your dog. {{{HUGS}}} I lost my baby (a kitty who would have been 18 in November that year) two years ago. We were living a few hours from my parents with whom he was staying with at the time because I couldn't seperate him and my dad. We lost two of our dogs (an older dog and our 3 month old puppy) when I was 17 wks pregnant with DD (it was the day we found out we were having a girl). I was devastated. Then two months after DD was born we lost our husky who was soon to be a year old. It took time to get over those losses but we did. I couldn't stand not having an animal so we got another one soon afterwards. It just wasn't the same without them being around.

happy ~ So nice of you to drop by. Congrats on another little boy!

Princess ~ Moving is very stressful. I did it when I was pregnant with DD (moved when I was 8 wks) and I vowed never to do it again. Being so sick didn't help but what made it easier was that I knew we were moving out of our apartment (I hated that place...more problems than I can list) and into a house where we had more room.

bombera ~ Sorry that you had to cover the phones and everything else. My OB did measure me two appointments ago but not at my last one. She just felt for where the top of my uterus was (just above my belly button) and said that was good. So I'm not the only one whose DH thinks I'm strange, huh? That's good. I have my grandma's serger but don't know the first thing about how to use it. Guess I should have had her explain how to use it before she passed away.
I just noticed that three of you are having a get together this weekend. If you all don't mind, take a picture and post it. Sounds like fun!

Elenna ~ Congrats on passing your GTT. Also good news that your iron and thyroid levels are good.

Kat ~ I have help all the time with typing. ;) It's DD's favorite activity. Good luck with the first night in the big boy bed tonight. We're going to try DD in her toddler bed (her crib converts) very soon.

Stranger's comments ~ Anyone else dealing with this? I thought I'd gotten every comment under the sun when I was pregnant with DD. Of course that was just the start of those comments because it only got worse after DD arrived. That's when everyone decided it was perfectly okay to touch her after we said no. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it this time since DS will be born during flu season. I've thought about just caring DS and then stating (nicely) that we'd just as soon they not touch him. If they continue with wanting to touch him stating it more directly (and maybe not so politely) to not touch him due to flu and cold season and the fact that he is a newborn.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We took DD to the local children's Halloween parade last night. Stupid me couldn't find her tights so we were a little late and had to walk with the older kids (note to self to never be late to that again as the older kids were so wonderful to deal with. When we got back we decided to have her picture taken. Unfortunately DD wasn't so keen on having her picture taken. After a few tries it became a good idea with her. Can't wait to see what they look like when we get them next week.
Sorry about the numbers, I have help.
This cracked me up!!!!
Aloha, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. Our dog is our first child and I cannot imagine life without him (he's 9). If he passed, I would be a complete wreck! It is real grief and I'm sending you lots of hugs.
Bombera, my MIL is the same way. She is just mortified that this loveseat she gave us sits in the basement (and no, we don't have a finished basement) because it is "practically new" and DH helped pick it out...when he was 10! I'm happy that you have found a home for those bunk beds. Know anyonw who needs a loveseat or dresser?
Elenna, yeah for passing the test and for your iron & thyroid levels to be good again. After the earlier worries, that has to feel good!
I'm glad I am not the only one freaking out about time. It got worse today when I found out that I am traveling for work 3 weeks between now and Christmas. DH is just going to have projects while I am gone!!
Another question, is anyone doing any physical therapy or chiro services or the like? I have been having back problems and started PT this week. I'm not sure if it is helping or not, but i keep doing my exercises. Right now, my back still hurts and my muscles are sore from the work-outs.
ETA: usaf, I bet DD was absolutely adorable in her costume though. Will you post pics here or no?
As for strangers, it never ceases to amaze me the inappropriate things people will say to you. Like "you're gaining weight" or "your stomach is really growing". My typical reply is "At least I have a good reason for it...". As for people wanting to hold DC after birth, my cousin carried around hand sanitizer and sanitized everyone even close to the baby. I thought it was hilarious!
Running out of time - I'm definitely starting to get a little panicky about how quickly it's going - and about me running out of time and energy - but hopefully we'll get a lot done in the next 4 weeks or so, and I'll feel better.
Question: We have a rocking chair that my parents had when we were babies...but I'm trying to decide whether I need to get a glider for the nursery. Originally I thought so, but now I'm beginning to thing that I might start out with the rocker (maybe get a few cushions for it) and then if it's not working for me, look at getting a glider - they're just so expensive, and since we already have the rocker...
Took my glucose test this morning...not too bad, just really sweet, and boring sitting there at Quest (people were talking around me so much I couldn't focus on my book :rolleyes: ) Oh, and since I've been a little MIA, I don't think I mentioned that my next OB appt is 11/14.
boilermaker
10-27-2006, 02:43 PM
philly, my sister used an old rocker passed down from my grandmother, just redid the cushions and it was fine. My best friend wanted a traditional rocker, so that is what she bought. Again, just fine. Try it out and if it's not working, you order the glider. For what it is worth, we are just moving a recliner up to the nursery that we bought a few years ago.
phillytiger I used a rocking chair with my DS because I didn't have the room for a glider. It worked fine for us, the only suggestion I have is to get a seat cushion, it will help your butt and lower back.
strangers:Oh, funny you should bring this up usaf I was really bad w/ Landon and he was born in the summer, I can't imagine how I'll be w/ Reece being born right in the middle of flu season. I have already started stressing over this. I used to get SO annoyed at people touching my tiny baby, with their grimey hands. Who knows where they've been? And, strangers touching my pg belly, yeah, that irks me too. I don't mind friends and family doing it, at all. But, random people in the mall or something, NO!
elenna: Congrats on passing your GTT! Also, yay for the good news on the iron and thyroid levels! Sounds great!
philly: I so remember sitting there waiting for an hour and trying to concentrate on a magazine and I'm just too nosey, listening to other's conversations! ;) It's hard not to when they talk so loud. I have all of my lab work done at the hospital that I deliver at, and lets be serious, in labs like that, the average age of the people in there is around 70+, it's the highlight of their week to get to go visit w/ strangers in the hospital lab! ;)
boilermaker ~ I'll post a picture of her here and in my journal over the weekend. We would be shopping and I'd get asked if we knew the gender. When I said yes, they demanded to know what the name was. After a few of these episodes I got wise and finally started answering that we didn't know. This time around I'm prepared and will answer that we didn't find out. Of course then they start in with why we didn't find out. I swear that somethings people just don't need to know. I carried the hand sanitizer around with us in the diaper bag as well. I think this time I'm going to be much more adament about people not touching the baby until they've washed their hands.
philly ~ We had a glider in DD's room but it broke (it was given to us) and it's been more of a chair. I have considered using the rocking chair that my parents used with me but it's rather large so I've been thinking about getting a glider and when we don't need it in DS' room anymore putting it in our bedroom (we have a large master bedroom so they'll plenty of room for it in there). If we did use the rocker I'd defintely have to get some cushions for the seat and back.
Last time I had to go to the hospital lab to have all lab work done. I wasn't fond of it but dealt with it. Worst part was having to register at the business office each time. This time it's all done in the OB office and I like it a lot better. Plus I don't have to bother with those idiots that can't draw blood without causing much discomfort.
ranchers ~ DD was born in late June so when she was a newborn I didn't really worry about the flu and colds as much. I still wasn't fond of people touching her like she was on display. I hated not knowing where their hands had been and when the last time they'd washed them. Actually washing hands before handling the baby was brought up in our prepared childbirth classes. I wish that people would ask before touching the belly (including family and friends). I don't mind them wanting to feel but I still don't want them just putting their hands on me unless I say 'feel this' or something and/or grab their hand and put it on my belly. Of course DH is not subject to that rule.
I suppose I should re-subscribe to this thread...I'm bad with reading along, sorry. But my 20 week ultrasound said that I was due on Feb 27th plus or minus 10 days...so anywhere from Feb 17th to March 15th would be a good range of due dates for us. And my mom told me after that my great-grandfather's birthday was Feb. 27th. My son was born on his due date, one day after my grandfather's birthday, so maybe that is a sign.
At our ultrasound, everything showed up fine. But the tech wasn't willing to guess the gender, so we are solidly on team green. That works fine for me. I didn't really want to know. it makes labor easier, DH will use that to focus me "Let's see what we are having here" Worked well with DS.
Otherwise, we are progressing nicely. Heartburn is hitting a few times a week at odd times (like after my nap today!). And I've been crazy for chicken salad. I'm a big chicken eater while pregnant. I would kill for Chick-fil-A right now...too bad I've eaten all day long. :( And there isn't one near me either. Bummer... I've gotten a lot bigger all of a sudden. I gained 10 pounds total so far which i consider good. I'm worried about gaining too much since I gained so much post partum with my son. But that halloween candy kills me sitting in the sunroom....sigh.
Well, I'm off to catch up with everyone's posts here. :)
My girlfriend has 2 kids, one born in Dec and one in February. She was told in no uncertain terms by her ped that she was to keep the babies home and TELL people to go wash their hands and then Purell them before holding the baby. And she was to tell them if they had a cold NOT to come to her home. So she put that on her answering machine. The message was something like, "Baby and Mommy are doing well and would love to hear from you and see you. But if you have a cold, we'll be glad to wait to see you until you're better." I'm stealing the idea. No visits from sick people. I can't handle two sick babies...
It is beyond me why people would want to subject a tiny newborn to their illnesses???? BUT, for some reason, they don't seem to mind. It's almost like they're just selfish and want to get there hands on the new baby. I don't get it. I think the message on the answering machine is a great idea.
Hi ladies, long time no post. Sorry about that! I have been following along occasionally though and will try to be better at saying hi more often.
We're doing well. So far, this pregnancy has been pretty smooth for me. The only minor glitches were a low progesterone situation at the beginning (which we seem to have passed nicely) and now a marginal case of placenta previa which was diagnosed at my 18w u/s. We went back again this week for a recheck and the tech at first thought that the placenta hadn't moved, then she looked from a different angle and thought that it had, then she did an internal and still couldn't decide if it had moved enough. WTF?! I'm seeing my Dr next Thursday and expect that s/he'll have me come back for another u/s in a few more weeks to check the position. Otherwise, no real complaints (knock on wood!) except sometimes being restless in the middle of the night and not being able to fall back asleep after I wake up to go to the bathroom, which is just frustrating.
Niblet has been wiggling up a storm lately. DH has been able to not only feel kicks, but he's actually seen my tummy jump a few times, which has been very surreal. This last u/s was pretty fun because it was the first time where I could feel the baby moving and see it on the screen.
At this point, we are on Team Green. Although, I kind of feel like I wish I knew in order to make it seem a little more real. If we 'accidentally' found out at the next u/s, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
Randomly answering some QOTD--
My glucose test will be at my 28w appointment on 11/28.
We registered for classes: childbirth is a 1-day class on 12/2, infant care and breastfeeding we'll be going to on 1/27.
I was on the fence about bedding for a long time, because it seemed like a waste to spend so much $$ on something relatively unpractical. It was easy to think that until we found a set we liked (Alphabet Soup (http://www.babyuniverse.com/kit/baby/2433/AlphabetSoup.html)). We'll probaby get the set of the quilt, bumper, cribsheet, cribskirt, then just the mobile and the window valance. It'll add some fun and color to the room without going overboard matchy-matchy. I love the fact that it's gender-neutral but fun bright colors! We bought a crib about a month ago and still need to buy a glider/ottoman. Otherwise, we're using DH's old bedroom furniture from when he was a kid.
I kind of doubt we'll specifically buy any Christmas gifts, for the niblet, but we've told our families that they can feel free to buy us baby stuff for Christmas if they'd like.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Ladies, wanted to pass some info along that I found very helpful when my DS was born.
Whether you plan to breastfeed, formula feed or both. Go to the formula websites and register with them. They will start to send you formula coupons in the mail. These coupons are worth their weight in gold especially if your child has a milk intolerance and has to have the pricey formula (Nutrimagin/Alimentum) like my DS had to drink. Some of the coupons are for $5.00 off etc. and help out so much especially for those on a budget.
Have a great weekend.
Juliebug and Lady1297- thanks for dropping by and giving us updates. It is nice to hear everyone is doing well. Juliebug, I hope the next u/s shows your placenta has moved out of the way. I am sure that will be a relief! Lady 1297- don't even get me started on the halloween candy!
Stars- thanks for the formula tip- although I am afraid that just having formula around, or the option will make me chicken out on breastfeeding- but I know stuff happens so it is good to be prepared!
Germs- I am glad someone brought this up because I hadn't even thought about it. I guess I have been lucky so far because random strangers haven't touched my belly yet! Thank goodness. As far as the baby is concerned, I hope people would have the sense not to come visit if they have a cold, but some people are pretty dense, I know! It's almost as if their desire to see a baby outweighs the baby's health. What a bunch of crazys! I think the answering machine message is great too. I am sure I will want to let all my calls go to voicemail!
usaf- I hope dd had a good time at the parade, although it sounds as if the whole thing might have been a bit stressful for mom! No fun! I can't wait to see pictures, what did your daughter dress as for Halloween?
Boilermaker- I wish I knew someone to take the love seat off your hands... Why do people get so attached to old furniture and then try to shove it off on others. If you love it so much, keep it for yourself! I don't see your MIL or mine taking back the bunk beds or love seat. God forbid she put that in HER house! Unbelievable! :)
I haven't been doing any therapy, just doing my pregnancy workout and alternating with my pre-preggo kick boxing (toned down a bit). It helps make me feel more flexible and continue to tie my shoes, so for now I am doing ok. I hope the exercises help out with the back pain, that is no fun at all!
Phillytiger- I still think I might want just a regular rocking chair with some cushions, but the thing that is swaying me toward the glider is the ottoman! I am short I have heard that having the ottoman really helps with nursing especially if your feet don't always touch the floor! Of course, they make nursing stools that would work great with either kind of chair. I think your idea is a good one, start with the rocker, and if it doesn't work well for you, then look at other options!
Elenna- I am glad all your tests came back well. What a relief that must be for you! I am sure we are all worry warts about this stuff! Have you ever know a mother who wasn't? I still swear my mother is the worst!
This weekend I stripped wallpaper from our bathroom and it went surprisingly well. It came off pretty easily. I just have above the shower and around the toilet to do and then it is done! After that we only have to redo the plumbing under the sink, fix some broken tiles in the shower, tear up the floor and put in new tile and refinish the cabinets and we will be done with that bathroom... Okay, so we aren't very far on this one, but still, it felt good to get that nasty wallpaper down!
On Sunday I met DPAngel(Danea) and PrincessCJ(Candice) for lunch. It was so great to meet you girls! We did take a picture and if the other two say it is okay, I will post it. Candice's dh was nice enough to take it for us! It was so much fun to just talk pregnancy without anyone getting annoyed! We will have to do it again girls!
After that I went home and worked on making some diapers and a ring sling. I should finish the slings tonight and be able to get another diaper done. At this rate I will only have about 5 diapers done by the time the baby gets here, I really need to step up my production! Of course I am buying some too, so I don't have to make them all:)
I so was excited when I got up this morning because I don't have to be on the phones for 4 more weeks! My week of servitude it up for now- but then I got to the office and the receptionist called in sick, so I have to cover from 12-3... bummer. Maybe tomorrow will be joyful!
Have a great Monday everyone!
bombera: You're going to cloth diaper? I'm planning on cloth diapering. My brother and SIL gave me all their cloth diapers (Chinese prefolds). I really need to go through the box and inventory what I have. I've been lurking in the cloth diapering thread trying to learn. It seems so much to take in. I'd like to see your ring slings when they're done.
germs: I haven't thought about this either, but what you're all saying makes sense. I think I'll just tell people when they ask to come over instead of doing a voice mail thing. MIL had to do pretty much the same thing when she was going through chemo and people wanted to visit.
stars: Thanks for the tip about formula coupons.
rancherswife: I really, really hope I don't get strangers trying to touch my belly. The questions are bad enough. MIL is the only other person who's touched my belly besides DH (and my OB and nurses). She didn't ask before she did it and I didn't quite like that.
phillytiger: I don't have any advice, sorry. I waver between wanting a glider and wanting a rocker. I'm going to wait until the crib, dresser, etc stuff is in the nursery and then decide based on how the room feels.
Ugh..I've been up since 4:30am. I'm really tired. I woke up to pee and when I laid back down, baby Lee decided to start doing some really aggressive aerobics. It was nice, but I couldn't get back to sleep. I also didn't want to get up out of bed and start my day because I didn't want him to stop. Anyone else find themselves not wanting to move/get out of bed/etc to just enjoy the moment when the baby is moving a lot?
We ordered a crib and a combo dresser/changing table yesterday. It felt weird to be finally ordering them. We got a Storkcraft convertible crib (stationary sides) and a Storkcraft combo dresser/changing table.
I forgot to mention before that my next OB appt is Nov. 22.
Elenna- I will PM you about cding! I am so glad someone else is doing this too! Okay, I just pm'd you, but it didn't show up in my sent folder. I backed up in my browser and found the message and cut and pasted it into a document so I can resend it if you need me to. Let me whether you got it or not!
Aloha- I will pm you too about the bedding pattern that I used! Sorry it has taken me so long to do this. I always think about it at the strangest times and of course I am not near a computer!
Dallas girls: How fun, you all got to meet and have lunch! Sounds like you had a good time.
bombera: That is so funny you mentioned letting your voicemail take all your calls. I had sooo many people frustrated w/ me, because, I just wouldn't answer my phone. Esp. after the first week, when dh was gone again, all day and my mom had gone back to work and home. I just wanted it to be me and Landon w/ no interuptions. The first week is SO crazy as it is, people got so annoyed by my voicemail, I didn't care though, and they got over it. ;) I had forgotten about that, until you brought it up! Too funny.
juliebug, good to see you post again! I have a low lying placenta, so not quite previa, but have to have another u/s as well. I hope it moves up for you.
stars, that is a good tip. I'll have to remember to sign up for the coupons, but man, I hate junk mail and it seems you can never get off the lists once you are on them!
bombera, you need to post pics of all the stuff you are making. I'm planning to try my hand at some mai tais over Christmas break and taking a cue from you, I'm going to attempt to make my own bedding as well (with lots of help from my mom).
Elenna, most times I do enjoy feeling the baby kick and move, but a few times, come 11:00 at night I just want him to go to sleep! Yeah for ordering your furniture!! That has to feel good.
rancherswife, I'm horrible about answering my phone now, so I hope people will get the hint when I screen calls later!
So, i had a major bout of insomnia last night. I think i managed to get about 3 hours of sleep total. Needless to say, I am dragging at work today. But overall i had a great weekend cleaning out the house. I'm starting to feel a little better about getting all this stuff done!
boilermaker I thought the same thing as well about junk mail, but never had a problem with it. These formula companies actually cut you off with the coupons after I think it's 6/8 months and then you can't get anymore. As for insomnia, I suffer big time. I spoke to my OB and she told me to take benedryl and it has really helped.
usafwife How cute is she?!?!?! My very independent toddler refuses to put on a costume!
boilermaker ~ You're welcome.
stars ~ We were totally surprised when she left the hat on for the entire night. She didn't even want to take the costume off that night. Looking forward tomorrow night when we do it all over again and then fight to get it back off because she wants to wear it all the time.
I got one set of formula checks and then no more. I finally contacted them and told them I got one check for the entire first year of DD's life. They told me they didn't send them out after a certain time. I thought that was so nice of them considering that we had only gotten one check. I figured I'd paid them enough $$ they could afford to give me more than one check (or even some coupons) since we were still using the advanced formula before we transitioned to milk. Plus it was easiest for us to use that stuff than dealing with milk milk when my mom was in the hospital (I lost so much milk that went bad during that time that I started refusing to buy it until we were able to spend more time at home and get it used up).
I had a level 3 u/s today. My DH was able to go with me, which was unexpected. It was pretty cool to watch. As DS was being watched, he did a full 180 on us. We had it confirmed that it is indeed a boy (we still had a few lingering doubts) and that my amniotic fluid level is ok right now (in the 60%s).
The major discomforts I have been having are indigestion. I have learned that Wegman's brand mint tums are pretty tasty, compared to the other types/flavors. :o I truly wish I did not need to know that.
Elenna - glad to hear the tests went well and congrats on ordering the furniture.
Rockers - We have an upholstered rocker in our nursery which we rarely used as DD is not a cuddler/rocker. I do wish I had an ottoman though because I am so short. I think that it is a great game plan to use the wooden one and then figure out if you need a glider.
Chiro care - I had a chiro during my first pg but that was because I was in a car accident when I was 4 months pg. I have had lingering pain since the accident but I have not gone back.
Time - I try not to think about how little time is left before Henry comes!
Strangers - You know, maybe I look standoffish or like a witch, but strangers never say anything to me. I rarely get advice, comments, and have never had a stranger touch my belly. Maybe I can rub off my mean vibes on you all!
Germs - I was not concerned about it but DH was. I guess I realize that there are germs where ever we go. I can not sheild her from everything. With that said, I did have an occassional person ask to see her when I had her covered (which was always for the first 8 months), and I would politely tell them "no." I refused to uncover DD's carrier for other people.
Gifts - Nope. No gifts for Henry at our house. I am not sure he will get much next Christmas as well.
Formula checks - I rarely got the checks as well. I got a few from Freecycle though. For those who plan to BF, it is definitely helpful to have a little formula on hand (like the single serving pwder packs). I was pretty diligent about BFing and pumping through the 4th month and then I experienced a major stressor which killed my supply for well over a month. DD was starving for at least 3 of those weeks until I had to supplement. The formula came in handy at that point.
usafwife - Great pics. Your DD is so cute. Our DD will not go near her costumes! Tomorrow should be interesting.
Back from 10 fabulous days in AZ and Grand Canyon for our Babymoon ... trying to catch up with everyone... we'll see how I do.
Firstly, I wanted to send my condolences to Phillytiger. I am so terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. :(
Jody, LDS Angel and Jenah - Thank you all for coming by to give an update. Like others, I think of you often and am always hoping the best for each of you.
QOTD – How much are you willing to spend on the bedding?
I got mine at target.com on clearance for $99. We wanted to do a farm theme and I thought it was sort of cute. There is some gingham in the pattern, so I suppose if I need extra sheets or whatever, I'll just get them in gingham and call it good. I wouldn't spend big bucks on crib bedding -- it's just going to get pooped/puked on, and I'm way too practical. :p
QOTD - Cribs
We found a Ragazzi crib on clearance for like 70% off, so we jumped on it. It's this one except in a "Pecan" finish.
http://static.flickr.com/69/203074187_5a26ecdcdc.jpg?v=0
The drop side on the thing is sooo smooth and silent - it is great! Of course, it's still sitting in pieces in our dining room since the baby does not have his/her own room yet. I'm going to buy this dresser (http://www.macofurniture.com/catalog/model.cfm?M01=17&MOID=ALDR-A/S9XS48) to use for a dresser/changing table and have my mom stain/finish it to match. Perhaps a bookcase (http://www.macofurniture.com/catalog/model.cfm?M01=17&MOID=ALDR-A/SBC3036) as well, though I haven't quite decided yet.
QOTD- Is anyone going to La Leche League meetings?
Bombera, thanks for bringing this up. Breastfeeding is my biggest point of insecurity about being a new mom. There are a few meetings in our area and I am considering going to those in addition to taking advantage of the services offered by my hospital. I figure... it can't hurt, and if it makes me feel more confident, then that's great.
Re: Flu shot - I thought about this on the plane ride home today while the idiot on the other side of B kept coughing and not covering his mouth. :mad: I have an OB appointment on Thursday and will ask about it there I suppose.
Re: baby in room - I'm just hoping that the baby will have his own room by the time s/he's born! There will be some time in the PNP in our room downstairs... but how much time and what the house situation will be like in 4 months (holy crap - 4 months!!), who knows.
QOTD-glucose test: I think I have mine on Thursday?? Like Boilermaker, I'm gaining all sorts of weight even though I'm eating fairly decently. It's frustrating, no? I'm gaining right at a pound a week, though I have not stepped on the scale since eating 9 days straight of restaurant food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I probably won't cause it'll just depress me! I would not be surprised to find out that I fail the test. I'm almost hoping I do... perhaps going on this strict, doctor-mandated diet will keep future weight gain in check.
Panicking - Yep, my panic is definitely building. Nursery still looks like this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/seahills/177748055/in/set-72157594181508385/); the other bedroom upstairs (which theoretically will be our room so we can be closer to the baby) looks like this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/seahills/264649515/in/set-72157594181508385/). We've got 4 months... during which come The Holidays, L&D classes, etc. and so on. Uh-huh. Yep. Panicking. That's me, alright!
Re: Christmas Gifts for Baby - I don't plan on buying the baby anything, but I'm hoping to heck that the grandparents buy some nice big stuff like BOB Revolution Strollers and OiOi Diaper Bags. ;)
Re: Birthing Class - We're taking a 4 week series starting in January and ending Feb 4. We're also taking Newborn Care and a Breastfeeding class... and there was one other that I wanted to sign up for for extra labor support that is supposed to be taken after the L&D series, but I don't know if I'll be able to due to the tightness of the schedule. We'll see. The hospital offers some other classes like "Baby your body" and "baby your back" and whatnot and I think I'm going to do some of those mostly to meet other pregnant moms in my area.
Boilermaker - I've been thinking about making a chiro appointment because I'm really starting to notice a "swayback" in my posture starting. If you go, I'd be interested to know how it goes for you! Do you do yoga... and if so, do you think it's helping at all?
USAFWife - GREAT costume on Sarah! Love that ladybug.
Rancherswife - Your monkey is ADORABLE!
Quick update since I am way behind in here... our second baby girl has almost caught up with her sister. Our last ultrasound showed just a few days difference between them. YAY! Baby B really had us worried. Work is still hard but I feel better knowing I only have thirty days left (23 is you take off my days off!).
Love the ladybug costume!! Has anyone else been shopping the sales for Halloween next year? All the 6-12m onesies were sold out at Old Navy :( but I did get these from Red Envelope:
aug2002 & rancherswife & usafwife - What adorable pictures of the Halloween costumes! I've got to take a picture of DS tonight and will post it.
I also need to take a belly shot tonight and post it as we are going for our 3D-4D ultrasound this Friday and will find out the sex!!
I'm with everyone else, that I'm panicking about how we are going to have everything ready in time for this one. I did get the crib mattress and new diaper pail this past week. We have got to get the spare bedroom cleaned out, but we can't do that until DH gets our basement finished so we can move the spare bedroom furniture down there. The walls are painted, the doors are hung, the fireplace is installed....now we need to get the ceiling installed, the carpet/tile laid. I've got a list as long as my arm of things I need to do! :eek:
For those freaking out about time, I may mention that I moved about a 1.5 months before DD was born. At the time I was also experiencing sciatica so my mobility was limited. We managed to put everything together quite well in the 5 weeks we had despite my limited mobility and inability to paint!
Happy Halloween!!
Bomb and DP it was so great meeting both of you and nice to talk with another preggolady!
Augustbride- That pic makes me want a little girl!!! So Cute!
USAwife- Bailey (my dog) is dressing up as a ladybug as well. They would be a cute pair. Of course Bailey would be jealous of DD's cute hat.
Ranchers- OMG your monkey is adorable! I already told DH that Cole is going to be a giraffe next year! (Can you tell I'm a planner)
Kindermom- I think I might be experiencing sciatica? My butt/hip area on my right side gets sharp pains and just gives out on me. Besides massages, is there anything else I can do?
I can't believe 3rd trimester is almost here.....Time has really flown!
Everyone's who's going out tonight with little ones stay warm!! I am dressing up as a cow and passing out candy!!! It Should be an interesting night!! I will try and post pics of my puppies in costume! They are adorable!
Michelle & Candice - It was so great meeting you two!! We'll definitely have to do that again! And I don't mind if you post the picture if you guys don't mind.
Germs - My plan was if anyone wants to touch the baby they will wash their hands and/or be doused with anti-bacterial gel :)
usawife - OMG your DD makes such an adorable little lady bug!!!
racherswife - Aww I love the monkey costume, he looks way too cute!!
Janey - Welcome back, glad to hear you had a great babymoon!!!
Panicking - Oh ya, especially b/c I don't know where we're going to be living come Feb when our apt lease is up. I'm hoping to find a house we can afford asap so we can begin the process and have it over with before the baby arrives. But we'll see...or we could end up staying in our apt for an additional 6 months :rolleyes:
Christmas Gifts for Baby - I'm sure we'll get gifts, but we're not asking for anything for the baby. I want a nice vacuum!!!
Aug2002bride - What an adorable Cinderella!!!
jenjen - I can't wait to hear what you're having!! Have fun at the u/s on fri!!
usafwife, rancherwife, and aug2002bride: Your DCs are adorable in their costumes!
isobel: Oh, yeah, I'm shopping the sales for next year. I love the angel/devil costumes for the twins. Good to hear your girls are both doing good and they're measuring similar sizes.
princessCJ: Dressing as a cow is a good idea for a pregnancy costume! I would have never thought of that. Do you have a picture?
jenjen: I hope you can find out the sex this Friday at your ultrasound. Good luck! Also, very cool you're getting the 3D/4D ultrasound.
kindermom: Glad to hear your u/s went well and that your amniotic fluid levels are ok.
usafwife: I hope the sore throat goes away.
bombera: What fabric are you making your cloth diapers from? Sorry, I didn't receive your PM. Can you resent it?
Janey: Welcome back from your babymoon! The Grand Canyon area is great for getting-away trips (that's where we honeymooned). A pound a week sounds normal to me. At my last appt I found out I'd gained 7 lbs in 5 weeks and my OB thought it was just fine.
tums: It is interesting to hear what flavors people prefer. I've never had to take them before, but I'm going to have to any day now. I just started getting heartburn for the first time in my life last week. I wasn't sure what it was, but when I described it to my OB she was pretty positive it is heartburn.
I hope everyone had fun this Halloween!
Well- tomorrow I will be 27 weeks! I can't believe it. Some books say that is the 3rd trimester, but I am not saying that until I am 38 weeks- 12 weeks to go just seems more 3rd Trimesterish to me... Crazy, I know.
Threadmistress- I forgot to mention that my next OB appt. is November 7th.
Elenna- I figured that would happen- so I resent it to you. I had to send two messages because as one message it was over the character limit... Oops, can you tell I am excited about the cloth diapers?
usafwife, rancherwife, and aug2002bride- Too cute. I love all the costumes! I can't wait until it is my turn.
Isobel- I love the angel/devil. Adorable! I hadn't even thought about next year yet. I guess I will wait and see what we have before I decide on a costume. The big question is, which one of your girls will be the devil? I am sure you will find out in no time! You may already know! :) I am sure it was a huge relief to find out that your second little baby is making great progress!
I will post the picture of DPangel, PrincessCJ and I as soon as my husband gives me the camera back! He is always stealing it for work... You would think he could use one of the work cameras, but I have to admit, I do the same thing sometimes. I just like ours better!
EJS- I hope they don't scare you too much at your c-section class. It is proactive thinking on your part to attend. It is always better to be prepared. How big does the Dr. say the baby is?
JenJen-I hope your U/S goes well on Friday and I will be keeping my fingers crossed that your little one cooperates. I can't wait to see the 3D/4D images!
Janey- I am so jealous! I would love a vacation right now. I am going to Houston for the weekend which I am really excited about, then we are going to Seattle for Thanksgiving- but visiting family isn't exactly what I would call a vacation, so this weekend will have to be it!
E'sprincess-great belly and u/s shots! Everyone is looking so good and pregnant!
Kindermom- I am glad everything went well!
Well, Halloween has been pretty unpredictable at our house the past few years, so I wasn't sure what to expect- but I didn't expect that we wouldn't get ANY trick or treaters! How disappointing. Our dog barked a few times and so I thought we were getting some, but he might have scared them away- or it could have been the abundance of roofing supplies laying around our yard that scared off the kids- who knows! All I know is I have this huge bowl of tootsie rolls and dots and no one to eat them except me and the baby. Dots for breakfast is not really part of a "balanced diet" but oh well. I did have some yogurt and toast to go with them! I am going to have to bring all this candy to work and get rid of it!
I am so looking forward to my weekend at the quilt festival in Houston. I was describing it to a guy friend of mine who was wondering how many people actually show up to something like this and I told him more than 50,000! I then told him that I would put it into terms that he could understand. The Houston International Quilt festival is the "superbowl" of quilting. (there is a spring festival in Chicago but I think the Houston show is bigger) The best of the best are there from around the world. Of course I don't have anything entered. I am no where near the level of some of these women- but it is so much fun to check them out. 1/2 the convention center is full of quilts that were entered and the other 1/2 is vendors selling all kinds of fun fabrics, patterns, machines, gadgets. You name it, these people have it for sewing and quilting. It is awesome for someone like me! I walked around for 8 hours last year and saw maybe 1/2 the vendors and about 3/4's of the quilts. It is crazy. This year I might not be able to be as crazy because I think I will get tired after about 5 hours and I may have to take more breaks, but I am going to do my best! The only scary thing is the majority of the people there are going to be women over 50 and although I haven't had a stranger touch my belly yet, I think this weekend could be the first! Let's just hope the old ladies keep their hands off my belly!
TUMS- I am fond of the Mixed Berry Smoothies. They are pretty tasty and I actually like taking them. They are kind of my afternoon snack (and a calcium supplement!) They work great for me and I take them as soon as I feel a slight lump in my throat.
QOTD- Winter Coats- Anyone buying a maternity coat? I just can't justify spending $100 on a coat, but it is starting to get chilly and I am going to need something. I don't have the patience for ebay lately- but even there they are asking way too much for used coats! Any good ideas?
Have a great day!
OMG what awesome news for BusyBee, Sebski and Stacylady. Thanks for sharing Pocahontas!!
Bomb- I can't believe how close you are... time has flown by so quickly.
Halloween pics- I will try and post some eventually we don't have the internet at home so its difficult. The dogs looked adorable!! My utters were pretty cute as well!
I only had a few trick or treaters though so I brought the extra candy to work today, it was just too tempting at the house!
I have an O/B appt Friday. I think I've gained more than a pound a week, hopefully the Dr. won't get on to me. Its not my fault he's growing like crazy!!!
It sounds like everyone is having a pretty good week!! Good luck to everyone with appointments.
=)
Had the glucose test today and glad to have it over with (at least til I find out if I need to do it again). The drink was fairly gross, but I was able to get it down without any problem. I didn't have much of a reaction to it which I hope is a good sign. It's funny that I arranged the appt the day after halloween. I only ate one bite-sized piece of candy to make sure it wasn't still in my system.
We got lots of trick or treaters. We turned the light off after we had just a dribbling of candy remaining (I think we gave out 6 bags). Of course I saved some of my favorites to eat after getting through the glucose test ;). I love all the cute costume pictures that have been shared on this thread. I haven't thought forward to next halloween yet.
Winter coats: I bought a canvas pea coat at Target that works over sweaters and then I have some large fleece coats that fit. I've also been borrowing my DH's big flannel shirt. I hope that will get me through.
That's great news about Busybee, Sebski and Stacielady!
I can't believe I have only a week until the 3rd trimester starts. We have our childbirth class all weekend so that will definitely make it feel real.
25 weeks today
Drive by post!
Wow, I am so behind! I got clearance from my doctors and was able to go to Yosemite for a few days- it was absolutely gorgeous and so nice to get away. I will post some pictures when I get a chance (and do replies!).
QOTD-
Cosleeping: don't want to do this. We will have a full bed in the baby's room if we need to sleep in there. I have two small dogs (6 lbs. and 8 lbs.) and it's tough to sleep with them- I've rolled over on them before! Plus you just don't sleep for worrying about harming them. Would not want to risk this with a baby.
La Leche League: To be honest, these ladies scare me a bit! I do plan on trying BF, but if it doesn't work out that's ok too. Many of my friends had problems, and it seems the ones who were less open-minded about all feeding options had a very difficult time.
Classes: Haven't signed up for any! Pretty sure I am having a c-section, so I might attend the c-section class. I am looking for a newborn care class and an infant CPR class.
Jackets: I did buy a nice wool one at Gap- my MIL gave me a gift certificate. I also got a fleece one from Old Navy that is awesome- I wore it every day in Yosemite!
Christmas gifts: Between the furniture, the housing rennovations, and all the stuff we're buying for the baby, no, I was not planning on an extra gift! I'm waiting until after Christmas to order his stocking (still not decided on the name thing).
Germs: This DOES worry me- I so don't want a baby with an immune system like mine! Truthfully I plan to limit public outings for the first 3 months.
Glucose test: I have mine in 2 weeks. I was really worried about this test- dumb reason- but I do not like anything orange flavored and wasn't sure I could keep it down! Luckily my OB has lemon-lime flavored "glucola" as well. I have a bottle of it sitting in my fridge for my next appointment- I have to drink it an hour beforehand.
Timing/Getting stuff done: Yes, I feel stressed about it! Yikes, 105 days is just not much. We have most of the baby gear bought or ordered, but need to get going on the house (new plumbing, fix the fireplace, outside paint, new a/c heater unit) and then get the baby's room done (refinish the hardwood, replace crown molding, retexturize ceiling etc.) We will meet with the contractor next week to get it all started.
I am thinking about trying to refuse the glucose test. Another stupid test is going to kill us financially. I am really thinking about the whole homebirth thing in a serious manner. I am so sick of paying this stupid dedutible that isn't even covering anything. We have an extra $300 in bills. Nobody can give me a straight answer as to what we actually owe. There are a few midwives around here that will do it for around $1500. I don't know if I could get any of the fees for the birth that we have paid to the dr, but I do know that having less to pay for the actual birth would be nice. That stupid pee in a cup costs me 80 cents.
daniel's kitty: Sorry about the insurance woes.
la_bride: Ooh, Yosemite. I've always wanted to visit there. Welcome back. Looking at your list of '"to-do's" reminds me of some things I want to get done before the baby comes. Eeks!
aloha: I hope you pass the glucose test. I think OB shouldn't even let women take the glucose test the day after Halloween. I know I would have been miserable if I had to avoid eating Halloween candy on Halloween for fear of it messing with the test.
I think I'm now in the Third Trimester.:eek: (Again none of the books agree on when the trimester starts - so confusing.)
We had our first childbirth class last night. DH and I really enjoyed it. There were 19 couples all due between late December and late February. The nurse teaching the class took a count of boys/girls/surprises and it was about the same as here on the boards (11 boys, 4 girls, and 4 surprises). It was great being around so many other pregnant women. It was very comical during the 5 minute break they gave us half-way through. Every woman had to use the restroom by that time.LOL. 19 pregnant women with only 3 stalls in the bathroom.:rolleyes: There were quite a few jokes being said while in line to "go".
A nice surprise in class was the cookies, fruit, and drinks. The teacher said she provides refreshments for the first class and last class (cake in the last class for "graduating" from the class). Then she asks two couples each class to volunteer to bring chips or cookies for everyone to the next class. So there'll always be refreshments. For some reason I really like that.
From talking to the other couples in the class I learned that the hospital we'll give birth in is the #1 hospital in the area to give birth. There were women from other counties in the class that have hospitals in their areas who are hoping to give birth at this hospital. That makes me feel good to know we have a good hospital. Now I can't wait for the tour (that'll happen in a later class).
Editted to add: I'm so glad we're taking the 6 weeks of classes because DH is going to need the practice to learn how to get to the hospital and where to park. He's driven there a couple of times already and he still gets lost. I have no idea why because he's usually really good with directions. :)
What a nightmare. Does your insurance just not cover your OB's practice or does it have poor pregnancy coverage no matter what dr you go to?
Back from the OB's office. Everything is looking A-Okay. I told OB I thought it was a boy because all of the movement I'm feeling is WAY down low, and the Old Wives Tales say that means boy. When we heard the HB it was 150 and he said, "According to the Old Wives Tales, that's a girl." So I am definitely on Team Green. :p They also gave me a Flu Shot.
Next apponitment is Dec 1. I get the Blood Glucose Test then. Whee. After that appointment I start going every 2 weeks. It's amazing that the 2-week appointments are SO SOON!
Daniel's Kitty -- sorry to hear about the pre-natal care costs you've been undertaking! That's awful...
Childbirth classes & money: I've been wrestling with what we should do about childbirth and newborn care classes. The regular 6 week childbirth class costs $300 at my hospital! That seems totally outrageous to me, but that's New York for you.
Right now I'm thinking that we won't do a childbirth class, and instead we'll just go to the film night of that class (which you can do on a drop in basis for $25), take a tour of the maternity ward (free), and get a book. I actually bought the Dr. Sears Birth book last week, and it seems pretty good.
Then I think we'll just fork over the $150 they want for a class on newborn care & feeding and infant CPR.
Winter coat: I'm hoping Old Navy or Gap is going to come out with a down puffer coat. Not as elegant as I'd like for work, but I really need warmth for those 5 blocks I have to walk to and from work and I'm NOT buying two maternity coats!
La Leche League: I haven't been attending these, and I doubt I will. I do have their book though because I'd heard the book is a pretty good resource. It's definitely preachy as well though (they have a whole chapter on "choices" that basically says you should quit your job to care full time for your kids). It sounds like the meetings can be a nice support group, but since I'm only off for 3 months anyway then going back to work, I doubt I'll go.
New question: Is anyone else getting worried about ending up with a c-section for no good reason? I'm not planning a totally natural birth or anything, but lately I've just seen a couple of perfectly healthy friends end up with c-sections, and while I know it happens, I'm starting to feel like it happens a lot. Anyway, it just surprised me to hear that these women had c-sections because they just struck me as the types that were made for having babies (obviously that was just my completely unscientific impression), and yet they somehow ended up w/c-sections. With both friends they were a little overdue, ended up with pitocin, labored for a while, not enough progress, and then came the c-section. Anyway, I know I need to be ready for any contingency, but hearing about my friends made me realize that I was secretly expecting that my labor/birth would be "normal," but that I do need to prepare myself for the possibility that it won't be...
Anyway, glad to hear everyone's doing well!
Just a drop-in reply...
First of all- OMG FSB2005 on the cost of childbirth classes! That is crazy. Now I don't feel so bad about paying $80 for ours.
On the "natural" childbirth question- yes, this freaks me out a bit. I know I have to be prepared for anything because situations do come up that you can't expect- but you can also be assertive about what you want from your doctor. Are they taking you in for a c-section because it works better for their schedule and they have somewhere to be? (I would like to think this doesn't happen, but we all know it does) or is there a legitimate reason for the sake of the mother and the baby that you need to have an emergency c-section? They can't force you to have a c-section unless you start to endanger the baby- and even then I am not sure what the rules are on that. Not that any of us would ever refuse a c-section if our babies were in danger! I have heard that it is best to make sure your doctor knows how you feel ahead of time and if they feel a c-section is necessary because you are not progressing, like what happened with your friends, make sure they explain to you why the c-section is the only route and if you have other options. Of course if you have been laboring with pitocin for quite some time and not progressing, you may be more than willing to let them do a c-section from what I have heard! That pitocin sounds like it makes for a nasty labor! I pray that each of us has an easy, induction free birth (for those of you that want that!).
What do you think RO's? What is the best thing we can do? Just go in prepared with knowlege and the willingness to discuss with our doctor about the best options? You guys are real experts on this!
Birthing question: That's the reason we went to a c-section class last night. We want to be educated on all possibilities and options. I feel so much more informed about the whole c-section process and much of the fear is gone.
To be honest, vaginal birth sounds a lot scarier to me than a c-section.
I feel this way too, but then, I now have some pretty serious bladder/kidney/UTI issues and don't want to take the risk of anything tearing/straining down there and making them worse! I am fine with a c-section. After everything I have been through to get pregnant and stay pregnant it's just not a big deal to me. My OB was pretty relieved when we discussed it! He doesn't think I'd have a good outcome with a vaginal birth.
My mother and grandmother had life-long bladder issues (UTI's/incontinence) after labor, so that has influenced me as well.
So will you definitely go with a c-section? Right now, it's my choice. But neither option really appeals to me. I'd like the delivery quickness of a c-section with the recovery time of a vaginal birth. And I'm really hoping that in Week 39 I'll grow a zipper and pouch and the baby can come out that way. Is that too much to ask? :)
LOL I'm with you :) My OB said there's no easy way out of this!
Yes, I will go with the c-section, but I have a high-risk pregnancy, so my case is probably different. I also had a cerclage early on- they can take the stitches out at the same time.
I strongly believe that situations like this are the reason for the increase in the number of C-sections. If your body is not truly ready to give birth, it's not ready. Of course there are some exceptions and some reasons for induction, but "forcing" your body to do this is a bad idea, in my opinion.
I just can't believe that we're almost in our 3rd trimester. Where did the time go? I remember in the beginning, we talked about doing a baby shower. When should we do this? Before the holidays (in Nov) or after (in Jan)?
Hi moms-
Had the glucose test on Wednesday. I'm hoping that my lack of self control on Tuesday didn't make me flunk the test. Duh.
I've gained 6 lbs since my last appt 4 weeks ago. And the Dr. told me that I'm measuring big. Not a big deal and I'm not worried. He made me get a flu shot. I'm currently sporting a large, circular, red welt where the injection was give. I've never had a flu shot before and am not sure if that is normal.
My next OB appt is 11/29 as well as the next U/S.
Natural childbirth We covered all of our bases around vaginal and c-sections and I was fine with whatever happened. I would have rather not been induced, but everything went so quick that I couldn't complain. I also labored on my feet and I think that helped alot. I am going to do the same thing this time if at all possible. And I waited as long as I could stand it before begging for the epidural. I'm hoping to go into labor on my own with this child and will try to dissuade my OB from scheduling an induction unless it's medically necessary.
Childbirth classes We took them with our first pg and won't be taking them this time. I can't believe the cost some of you are having to pay for these classes!!! Ouch.
We are working hard at getting the nursery done. DH ripped out and is starting to rebuild the closet and we bought the paint. I have to look for a nice chair rail to install, but otherwise, we are trucking along. My family is coming out for Thanksgiving, so I just may be putting them to work helping us get the room ready....and putting up Christmas decorations. I SOOOOO can't wait to do this. I love our Christmas stuff.
Just wanted to let MrsSki know that I also got the flu shot on Wednesday and have the same circular welt on my arm around the shot area. I marked a circle around it with a pen so I can tell if it's growing. I lamented getting the shot but decided to after it took so long for my cold to heal. Anyways, I felt a bit crummy yesterday and I'm guessing that was due to the flu shot.
aloha thanks. I'm off to the bathroom after lunch to do the same thing. DH noticed this morning that it's bigger than it was yesterday. I may try to call the nurse at the OB's office to find out if it's the norm.
We've also started the process of getting estimates on having our kitchen redone. I'm so not prepared for this. We had one already from Lowe's that was JUST cabinets. No counters, floors, sink, faucet. I was a bit shell-shocked, but everyone is telling me that's pretty cheap. We are having another contractor come in to our house today to give us an estimate on everything. Tomorrow night, we are going to Menard's to have a lookie-see. I'm so not into this. Damn water damage.
Hello All!
Back from my check-up! Everything went well. I have put on 6 pounds since last month (I'm blaming the 2 bottles of water I drank for those extra 2 pounds) Overall, I'm up 16 pounds. I've never weighed so much in my whole life.... Oh well, I have a good excuse! BP was good, my HB was good, Baby's HB was about 145 and my uterus is measuring 25 weeks. The doctor said all my U/S and measurements show me to be 1 week ahead, but she is keeping my due date the same b/c the 1st U/S showed Feb. 21st. Basically, she said the baby will be due between Feb 14th and the 21st, which is what I've been saying.
When she was getting the baby's HB he was kicking her like crazy. He physically kicked the machine up off of my stomach. The doctor thought it was pretty funny! She said wow he is strong =) Yeah, I know he loves to kick me like that at 3am!!!
We are hopefully finsihing registering this weekend and picking out all of our furniture!!! YEAH!!
Hello All!
Back from my check-up! Everything went well. I have put on 6 pounds since last month (I'm blaming the bag of frozen snickers... LOL Overall, I'm up 7 pounds. BP was good, 110/70 excellent... my HB was good, Baby's HB was about 155's
Eric FINALLY felt her move last night... it was so cool.. So today she's making her presence know.. lol.. I was watching my stomack and here's these little bumps... everywhere. lol.. I'm still very low, but the doc say's she working her way up... Still having ALOT of presure "down there" but everything checked out good.
I go in 2 weeks (Nov 15) for my 3 hour GTT. Since I failed the 1 hour, there not even going to waste time with it. UGH... 4 more pick's... Not looking forward to that. Heartburn is at it's worst.. however last night before I went to bed, I ate some tums. I didn't wake up at 2am like I have been so maybe I'll keep doing that.
Birthing classes start in 2 weeks... OMG... and now I'm on every 2 week appts. We're just trucking along here. I'll have more pic's to post later this weekend.
Have a great one.
fsb: $300 for a childbirth class?:eek: What are they offering for that amt?
QOTD: C-section: I'm not really worried about getting a c-section. If we wind up having to have one then I'll just deal with it then.
flu shot: I want to get one. I'll ask my OB about it at my next appt.
princesscj: Good to hear your appt went well.
aug2002bride: Have fun in Burmuda!!
e'sprincess: Wow, It is amazing that we're getting to that point where we're on the every 2 weeks appt schedule. I think I start going every 2 weeks after my next appt.
bombera: Thanks for the CDing pm. Today I finally inventoried what supplies I have. Whew! I'm a bit overwhelmed right now.
My sister sent me a box of baby clothes (hand me downs from her three boys). They're all sizes from newborn to 9 months. They are all so cute! Between these hand me downs and my MIL's shopping I don't think I'll need to buy any clothes for our little boy.:)
Appt update: 26w 5d
I was able to keep the glucola down for the whole hour, which was a huge relief. It was difficult, but I really didn't want to have to drink it again. I should have those results on Monday. If I failed, I'm going straight to the diet and not doing the three-hour test.
I'd gained some more weight, so I'm up about 8 pounds total. Baby had a good HB of 152. I had ketones in my urine AGAIN. It's so frustrating! I know I'm not dehydrated, so we're thinking it's from lack of nutrients. I'll have another urine test next week.
I did get disappointing news, though. I've seen my OB for almost 18 years. I adore her. Her support through this has been so great, especially since my mom has passed away. She told me today that she has to have knee and foot surgery in mid-January so she won't be able to deliver my baby. I was crushed. I cried, she got teary. She's hoping to come to the hospital when I deliver to be a support person for me.
She also thinks that a scheduled c-section might be the best birthing option for me. (Lots of reasons for this.)
We go back in two weeks for our next appointment.
I hope everyone else is doing well.
Not much time to post but wanted to let everyone know that I'll be working on the new thread over the weekend and will hopefully have it open by the first of next week.
jen ~ Congrats on the second little boy! So far the boys out number the girls in our thread (15 boys to 7 girls) but we have 10 little surprises so maybe some of them will turn out to be girls and even things up.
ejs ~ Sorry that your OB has to have surgery and won't get to deliver your little one.
Childbirth Class Costs ~ I must say that I'm quite shocked at some of the prices you all are posting. Ours didn't cost anything as long as we delivered at the hospital where we took the classes. If we didn't it wasn't a big expense either ($10 I believe). Guess we live in an area where the classes are cheap.
I'll finish later.
Please continue to post in this thread until I post that the new thread is open and ready for posting.
Also, please remember to include how far along you are in the subject line (instructions on how this can be included in your post on the first page). It helps all of us know how far along you are.
If the virtual shower is still something that everyone wants to do, please post. If there is still enough interest we will go ahead with that.
We are just trucking along right now. We bought my DS his big boy bedding and we will be moving him from his toddler bed (his crib converted) to a twin for Christmas. Then we will start working on deciding if we will swap out our guest room for a nursery. We have compromised into waiting to find out if this kiddo is a boy or girl before deciding that. I'm not thrilled with the solution because I don't agree with catering to my in-laws, who essentially are the only ones to use our guest room, rather than our children, especially after they screwed up our weekend...but I'm willing to let post-partum hormones kick in and fight for my kids then! hehe!
I'm hosting a Do-Re-Me and You party this Saturday (www.drmy.com). I hope to pick up some things for DS for Christmas as well as for baby2 for birth and later. I'm looking for something for DS to give baby2 when he/she is born as well as things for baby2 to give DS. Thomas the Tank engines will probably win on the latter.
Guess that is all for now...should probably go do some kind of work today... boo!!
I can't believe we are ready to start a third trimester thread already!! Wow.
jen, congrats on a little boy! I never would have guessed boy based on your belly shots, but I'm usually wrong anyhow.
ejs, that is bad news that yoru OB won't be delivering your little one. I'd be quite upset too if I had that kind of history with a dr.
aug2002, have a great time in Bermuda!!! What a wonderful babymoon. I can't wait to see pics when you get back.
princesscj8, I'm right at the same weight gain as you. And I agree, I've enver weighed this much in my entire life. I hope it levels off for both of us!
elenna, isn't it great to get the hand me downs. I got a ton of stuff from my sister as well, which really helps out!
mrsski, I'm sorry to hear the kitchen costs aren't what you were anticipating. Sometimes I have to wonder why life throws us these curve balls when we least need it!
daniel's kitty, I think you can refuse to do tests if yoru insurance isn't covering things. I'd have a serious discussion with your Dr about what is necessary vs what is nice to have and start cutting things out. How frustrating to have to deal with it!
For those of you who got flu shots, I got one last week as well. No welt but I got a big bruise around the injection site and my arm felt like someone had punched me really hard. So I guess there are lots of different reactions to it. According to my info sheet, it says soreness, sweeling and redness is common but if it persists for more than 2 days, you should call your medical provider.
Coats, I'm not sure what I am going to do in regards to this. As of right now, I can still wear my pea coat because it had an extra set of buttons on it. So it's like it expanded by 4 inches. I also have a long wool coat that a friend of mine gave me but it is pretty ugly. Or I could wear one of DH's coats. I saw ON had a maternity pea coat for a reasonable price but I'm not sure that is what I want.
Glucose testing...yeah to everyone who has taken the test and managed to 1, get through it and 2, pass! I have mine on Friday and I'm more worried now about drinking the drink than I am about passing the test. But we do what we have to do. To those of you who are on to the 3 hour test, I'm crossing my fingers for you and hoping you pass that one!
I also started my birth classes last week and wouldn't you know, of the 12 couples in the class, everyone who knows the sex is having a boy. I got a kick out of that. I guess all us "surprise" babies are the girls or Feb is just a lopsided month everywhere!
Happy Monday!!!
aug2002 - I'm SO jealous! Enjoy.
jen - yeah for another boy!!!!
lady1297 - I'm so in denial about getting DD big girl furniture. I'm trying to justify just buying another crib and keep her in her's until she's like 18 :D.
DH and I had a date night on Saturday night. It felt good to be able to dress in clean, pressed clothes and take a bit of extra time for hair and make-up. We went to Menard's to look at kitchen cabinets and counters. I must say, I'm WAY more pleased and much happier about the cost than I was with Lowe's. Plus I also found a bamboo wood floor that is gorgeous! We went to dinner at a steak place and totally porked out. DH and I were both miserable after eating and rushed home to fight over the bathroom! Our Saturday night sitter (Our daycare provider's daughter) thought it was hysterical and couldn't figure out why we were fighting over one bathroom since we have two. Um, cause we both had to poo and our bathroom has a better fart fan!!
Anyone else having excrutiating pain in their pelvic joints and hoochie magoochie region? I can barely walk today it hurts so bad. And it's not like I was on my feet and moving around the whole weekend. Ugh!!
JenJen- Congrats on your Boy! How fun that they will be so close together!
Boilermaker- How funny that everyone that "knows" is having a boy! In my class we are pretty even. 1/3 are having a girl, 1/3 are having a boy and 1/3 are waiting!
MrsSki- I completely feel for you on the "shell shocked!" Every time my husband tell me how much he thinks something is going to cost, it always comes out to about double that! He told me he was going to get the decking and stuff for the shed roof and it would be about $500, he came back from Home Depot after having spent $1200! I was shocked. It just keeps adding up. I am meeting with a guy during lunch today that might be able to resurface our marble entryway floors, but I am so worried about how much he is going to quote. They have to grind the tiles down with a diamond surface and then re-polish them and replace a few broken tiles. It's only about 175 sq ft of marble but I think it is going to be $1000+. I am so nervous...
ejs- so sorry to hear the news about your OB. That is so sweet that she wants to be there for you though. How great that you have a dr. that cares so much about you!
Lady1297- You'll have to let us know how the "big boy" bed works out! Your in-laws must realize that as your family grows they might have to be reduced to an air mattress in the living room. That is just life! I would set your house up the way you want it, and let them stay in a hotel if they don't like it! :) (but that's just me being mean!)
Elenna- Yeah on the hand me downs. That would be the big plus to having a boy, my sister has so much stuff I would never have to buy a single item of clothing.
Aug2002bride- Have a great babymoon! How fun!
usafwife-thanks for working on the new thread! Can you believe we are only three months away? Yikes, time is flying by!
PrincessCJ- I am all about blaming the water for my weight gain! LOL!
I had a great weekend in Houston at the quilt festival. I was surprised that I was able to hang in there from 10-7. We stopped for lunch and then sat for a 1/2 hour to listen to a lecture, but the rest of the time I was on my feet. I was exhausted by the time I got back to where we were staying and chowed down on Pizza and bread sticks. I was so hungry. My hip was in quite a bit of pain that night and the next day, but I worked out this morning and it seems to be fine. I think it helps that the baby is up under my ribs instead of sitting low on my back and hips.
We had our first childbirth class yesterday and it went well. Our instructor has had five children without painkillers and I was impressed. They teach us more than just natural childbirth though. Next class we have our tour and the drug dr. (I don't want to try and spell the A word...) is coming in so we can ask him questions about epidurals and other forms of pain meds. I did like the fact that at my hospital it is never "too late" to get the epidural. We are also going to learn about c-sections in our last class, so I think I will be as prepared as I will ever be after this class. She also said that episiotomies ARE NOT routine at our hospital. I was super nervous about that. I know that sometimes they are necessary, but I don't want my dr. to cut me if it can be avoided. I think that is my biggest fear is being cut or tearing... I don't know why I am so afraid of it, but I am.
I have an OB appt. tomorrow and I totally broke down this morning when I reminded DH about it and he can't go. I know it is going to be a 5 min. appt. and he doesn't need to be there. It's just that he has been to all the others and I just got upset. I am totally overrun with preggo hormones. I was feeling sorry for myself this morning about how many dishes I was going to have to do when I got home and feeling like dh just takes advantage of me when it comes to dinner and the dishes, then when he couldn't come to the appt. I just lost it. I am serious, it is just pregnancy hormones. DH is so busy all the time with work and studying for his architectural exams and trying to work on the house. I shouldn't feel sorry for myself. He works his butt of too, but this morning I was being selfish! I am much better now. I just had to calm myself down and realize how irrational I was being! Gotta love those hormones!
Have a great week everyone and keep growing those healthy babies!
We had a pretty good weekend. Ben was great. He walked the mall with us. He was so tired after that. Our only big problem was our main sewer line backed up so we were without plumbing for several hours Saturday night.
Pelvic pain I am having tons of what feels like sciatic nerve pain, and killer lower back pain. I was pretty much preparred for both though since I get the back pain from carrying ds around.
Sorry about always forgetting to put in the weeks, I can't remember them.
Wow it seems scary to think about a third tri thread already.
CB class costs - Wow I can't get over $300 :eek:
Most the classes offered at our hospital were $125, but there were 2 for $85 so I signed up for a cheaper one and saved $40. So far the only difference is our class is 5 wks not 6 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
3rd trimester - :eek: I still have about 3 weeks, but wow the end is creeping up!!
coats - Since we don't get much of a freezing winter here in TX I'll just be using my regular coats even if I can't zip them up :o .
GT - Well I thought my test would be at todays appt, but when I called the office to verify they said it wasn't scheduled. She did mention I could take it today but asked if I'd had any soda or high sugar food and when I said yes she suggested I wait until my next appt at 28 wks.
bombera I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's not to expensive for you!!! I HATE home improvement costs. But our house is almost 35 years old and while it was taken care of, the 'taken care of' was rigged or done half-assed.
lady1297 I'm going to echo Bombera's post. Our guest room is becoming the nursery. We have a finished basement and if people want to stay with us, that's where they are sleeping....and on air mattresses since we don't have a pull out yet. It's your house, YOU do what you want and everyone else can adjust.
coats Thankfully I have a down coat from the last time I was PG and I should be able to get through the winter with it. I also have a dress coat that is a swing coat that should work. If not, I guess I'll not be going outside!
There is NOTHING special about this $300 childbirth class, except that it is being held in NYC. I actually don't think we're going to take it -- we'll do the maternity ward tour and the film night, and otherwise I think the Dr. Sears Birth book is pretty good.
MrsSki -- Thanks for bringing up the -- how did you put it? -- "hoochie magoochie pain"? :) I have totally been feeling this, it just feels sore sometimes, as if I'd recently done something that actually I haven't done in a while. :) I've also had a lot of back pain, and foot cramps which I hate!
Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I don't feel like I'm that close to the third trimester but I guess I sort of am -- when does that start, 28 weeks?
Sigh. I found out today I failed the 1-hour GD test. I have to take the 3-hour on Thursday. I wanted to immediately go to the diet, but my doctor convinced me otherwise. I could barely keep the glucola down for an hour; I'm dreading keeping it down for three hours!
The way my pregnancy is going, I'm not expecting to pass the three-hour test. I'm very discouraged.
Wow. I had to find a calculator to get my time along. Any other ROs who do not pay much attention with this pg?
fsb2005 - We played hookie on the second day of the classes. I thought it was a waste of time and did not teach me anything that the books didn't go through. OTOH, I was completely into the epidural so the breathing did not hold much interest for me.
Daniel's Kitty - Sorry to hear about the basement.
ejs - So sorry to hear about your GT test. That is really crappy.
No changes here. I am still experiencing way to much heartburn. And this weekend I can really close to taking codeine for my migraine. My OB prescribed Tylenol with codeine for them. Instead DH was a saint and made me crawl into bed and take a nap while he watched DD. (I say a saint because he was really tired and wanted to sleep himself).
DD is starting to say "Henry." I will point to my belly and tell her Henry is in there.
I hope you all have a great week.
ejs- I'm so sorry you have to take the 3 hour test. :( I hope it goes better for you though. Is it a fasting test?
Bombera and Mrsski- Yeah, that's how I feel. But the baby will be with us for three months or so in a bassinet, so I'm not feeling rushed in making the decision. And DH may have the attic remodeled by then for the guest room, so that would be nice. I do know I'll win in the long run, at least until we decide if there will be a #3!
I had a ton of energy today so I did some cleaning (stove top, vent/fan, dusting, cleaning the kitchen counters etc) and now I'm pooped.
I've got just zippo going on with the bambino. Reading along, nodding along, and I have basically nothing to add except for "Congrats" and/or "Me Too." ;)
I do have a QOTD though:
Has anybody bought Bursing Bras yet? RO's, do you have a favorite brand? If so, tell me all about 'em.
I braved the rain (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003352396_flood06m.html) today to do a little shopping. I bought a coat that I think will get me through the rest of the pregnancy, and I tried on a couple of nursing bras. In the "3rd Trimester Packet" from the OB it says I should wear the nursing bra with the flaps down around the house in order to prepare the nipples. I figured what the heck, it couldn't hurt. So I went to JC Penney, who had one by Playtex, and to Target, who had some Liz Lange ones. I didn't bring any home because I wasn't that thrilled with any of them. I'm hoping that someone here has found Nursing Bra Nirvana and want to share.
I also have an updated belly shot... Just for here not the front page please - thanks. :) As I said earlier, the bambino is giving conflicting messages on what flavor s/he is going to be, but we'll find out in just about (omg) 16 weeks.
