As I was signing in to check my email from hotmail I noticed an ad for Bag Borrow or Steal. http://www.bagborroworsteal.com Apparently you can "rent" couture handbags for a week or up to a year then return them and borrow another. They also have a outlet store where you can purchase gently used bags. You pay an initial membership fee of $9.95 a month. Then I think you pay weekly or monthly for the bag. Like one bag was $5 for the week and then $15 for the month.

I was just wondering what everybody thought about this. I am not a real big handbag person. I usually will use the same bag no matter what I am wearing. Horrible I know. Just wanted to get some opinions and find out if anyone has used it or heard of it.

*By the way I did my best to look on my own to see if there was already a thread about this since the search button is missing.

Hmmm... I hadn't heard of this before but just browsed the website to check it out.

It's $10 to join. And it's another $10 every time you have a bag shipped to you.

Say you want to borrow this lovely Gucci "Positano" tote.

That'll cost you $80 for a week, plus $9 for insurance. So, now you've paid $109 to have this bag for one week. Is that really worth it?

The retail price of that bag is somewhere around $1400, but I've seen it on sale for like $1000. Even though I love the bag and could never afford to own it, I don't know if I'd spend so much money just to rent it temporarily.

I was wondering if it would really be worth it in the long run. But your talking to a girl who just buys whatever kind if bag.

Seems like a bunch of money.

Maybe if someone really wanted a certain bag for a special event or somethine. My luck I would lose the thing or something.

I now know there is a website for everything.

I've heard about these websites on some talk show, and the cheaper prices are usually for the cheaper purses, like Baby Phat, Guess, Bebe, etc. If you want the higher end designers like Gucci or Prada, then you have to pay the extra, like Rosebud mentioned. And they scrutinize it pretty well after it's shipped back to make sure there isn't even the tiniest flaw. If there is, you have to replace it.
