I am thinking about sending out a combo Holiday card/STD for our wedding next fall. I realize that it's a little early for a STD, but we have several guests that will be coming from out of town, and our wedding will be somewhat destination (about 1.5 hours from where we live)
I could use some help in the creative department, so please post your STDs/STDs that you have seen.
Thanks! :)

Um, not to sound crass, but when I see STD something comes to mind that I don't think you mean. What is a STD?

I LOVE my save the dates!
We made them ourselves with an engagement picture, printed on a magnet. There is a sheet of paper we attached them to with those photo corners that has all the hotel information on it
Here is the magnet itself...

And here is the magnet and the insert...

We had two different STD postcards; one is for family invited to the private ceremony and the other is for the reception which includes everyone else. The pictures are of the actual sites too.

those are great so far! I am thinking about using a pic from our vacation this past summer or from right after we got engaged, as I don't expect to do our engagement pictures until late next spring.

We made a photo-booth style fridge magnet. We took the pics ourselves in the bathtub (why the bathtub? *shrugs* why not!). Curt edited it to look like a photobooth strip, then laminated it and stuck some magnet strip on the back. Very easy and cheap, and our guests loved them!

Here's what we did. The image on the right is a magnet so they have that and then could put the card somewhere else if they wished.

I don't know if you would be interested in this kind of thing, since you're wanting to send out save-the-dates with your holiday cards, but I made save-the-date booklets.
The front was a picture of us with the traditional STD stuff (a picture of us, the date, invitation to follow, etc). Then on the inside, we printed things like a note to our guests, a map of Tuscaloosa, information about the ceremony and reception times, things to do and places to eat in Tuscaloosa, and where we had hotel rooms blocked. I figured since almost all of our guests were out of town and liked to plan early, it would be worth it. Plus it meant we didn't have to enclose hotel information with our invitations. It was the best option for us, and it was a big hit with our out-of-town guests. It ended up being three pages front and back (six pages front and back when folded and stapled) and we got 125 of them printed at Office Depot for about $100 (plus about $25 for a ream of parchment paper to print it on). The postage was only $0.37 per envelope, which surprised me. Here are some really fuzzy pics:

wow, all of these are great! Thank you to all of you who have offered help. I've been swamped with work, but once things slow down enough to think about the wedding I will definitely use some of these ideas :)

We had a Victorian-ish formal wedding, so I sent these. (Those are ribbon roses).

Save the Dates I designed and made for my sister's wedding.
Her wedding is in December, a week before Christmas. Her colors are navy & silver and she is having silver stars as well.

I did a search, came up with nothing and need some help with Save the Date cards. Something simple, cheap and elegant! I'd love some inspiration. This is my ideal card but it's not within my budget and if I start splurging on STD's, what else am I going to splurge on!
I just wouldn't do the scroll letters, something more legible.....
