Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistresses for this thread are cowgirl and Chris n Jen.
To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread every month. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistresses would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if we get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test! :cool:
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
* Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
MBFP Mystery big fat positive- When you see a BFP in someone’s chart but they haven’t announced it yet
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

Hey ladies. Figured I'd stop by with an update. I'm on CD 7. AF finally ended yesterday with some light spotting. I started on my supplements last night. I'm still suffering with my acid reflux. I'm on meds but nothing is really helping yet. I guess the only good thing is I'm down about 5 lbs since last week so its a great weight loss plan. LOL So I'm patiently waiting to see when I O this cycle. I'm hoping I can have a stress free cycle!! Hopefully August will be lucky for all of us.

I like posting early in a new thread. It's easy to do shout outs!:D
Congrats Sweet Red on being the first poster! I hope that means good luck.
Thanks for stopping by GymwidowI hope things are going well for you!
Kris97 a new thread is a fresh start. Good luck in your upcoming testing.
FSUsammy, Sorry about the acid reflux. It can be such a PITA! It seems like no big deal, but I know from experience that it can be really awful!
My temp is dropping so I'm just patiently (or not!!!) waiting to move on to a new cycle.

katiems118 - The spike definitely looks good. Hopefully the rest of your temps will stay up and that drop will have been because of implantation.

Welcome, DelSol!
katie- nice spike following a dip! I hope that means good things!
FSU- good luck this cycle!
tealynn- not much of a dip, really. Maybe it's not over yet!
me- CD 13, but it looks like I O'd yesterday. I had some EWCM, really for the 1st time since BC, Sunday...it was even on the tp and I have never been about to see any there! Then yesterday, I had a huge dip in temp, and this morning way up. I was Oing on CD 14 for like 6 cycles, then the last 2 I was late. This cycle, it looks like I am early! I am glad we went ahead and starting BDing!! Only 2X, but better than nothing. Since we are starting the testing next cycle I am not really hopeful for this cycle...I mean, we have had good timing just about every cycle we have tried, and nothing, so I don't thinkI am going to temp after I get crosshairs.

Katiems, that is a nice temp jump! I hope we it keeps movin' on up!
Jess, it does look like you planned well w/ BD timing. Good luck w/ trying not to temp. You know, sometimes when you least expect it, things have a way of working themselves out. I really hope this is your month!
Did you all know that August is the busiest month for getting BFPs???
just kidding, i made that up but it sounded good.
I'm moving on to my 3rd cycle of trying and honestly if August isn't my month, I'm going to have to take serious measures.
Dear ChrisnJen the fabulous threadmistress, as sad as I am to say, please move me to waiting to O. :(

Thank you for the warm welcome ladies!
Welcome Del Sol, hope your stay is short and sweet!
Thank you! I'm hoping we get lucky but if not I won't be too upset, I know these things can take some time. I just hope DH doesn't get cold feet, so far he hasn't. I only tell him the information he needs to know, like when to do the BD. He wants to stay oblivious to the charting but I'm doing it to learn more about my body and to optimize our chances of succeeding right away since we aren't spring chickens.

FSUSammy Good luck with the acid reflux. I hope you find something that works soon.
DelSol Welcome! May your stay here be short but sweet!
Jess71903 Horray for obvious EWCM. Seriously, I think I'd be jumping for joy if I saw it for the first time :)
katiems118 I really hope that spike means something for you.
kris97 Fingers are crossed for a BFP next week :)
tealynn I almost spit my water all over my screen with that one. But I like your thinking.
To all the rest and anyone I missed and those yet to post and myself included - let's hear it for a productive August! You know how wonderful BD-ing is when it's 100+ degrees outside ;)
P.S. AF did show up today as expected. On to bigger, better, more POSITIVE things :) My Chart (http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/128004)

I posted this morning and yet am already behind. Craziness!
Welcome DelSol! Hope your stay is short and sweet.
Your chart is looking pretty good katiems! Today's spike looks really promising.
Yay for EWCM Jess! Good thing you had started BDing. Keep your hopes up, you never know. Although I feel the same way since we are beginning testing next cycle also.
tealynn, thanks for the fabulousness! :D You made me smile. I'll split the compliment with cowgirl though, since she works so hard at keeping this thread up to date also. Sorry about AF.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for me CD10. Let the BD fest begin. ;) I heard back from my doctors office today. The pap and standard STD tests all came back negitive. As was expected. But get this. I went in for CD3 bloodwork with a script that was for CD3 estrogen and CD21 progestrone. Well the stupid lab did the progestrone test on my cd3 blood. So I'm still going in for cd21 blood and then (if not preggo this cycle) will be going in for cd3 blood next cycle. It pisses me off because that may be putting any meds or whatever off by another cycle. I also found out today that my insurance doesn't cover any infertility treatments. So I'm not sure if the bloodwork is going to be covered or not. So if not, then I'm going to have to call the lab and make sure they don't charge me for the screw-up. I'm actually really confused today just thinking about the insurance.
I thought I'd re-post my msg from last night since it was at the end of the last thread:
risa00 - I hear your pain about late O'ing, we had a similar experience this cycle, but may have gotten lucky with a last ditch BD. Anyway, I hope that you have miracle sperm, hang in there!
Abirney - Good luck!!!!
Seems like we're always waiting for something!
Tealynn, you are so right about this!! I'm sorry to hear that you aren't seeing a BFP yet, how frustrating to have a deceptively long cycle w/out good results. :(
I see the gyno tomorrow for test results/planning. I'm having DH take me this time (for moral support), but I'll probably have him wait in the lobby.
Now an update for today: The Dr visit went okay. DH actually came into the appt with me (since it was just a consult) which was nice. My tests came back normal (blood work) and she's recommending that we see a RE for my luteal phase defect (not for infertility). She doesn't know any more tests to do and doesn't want us to keep trying without knowing what's wrong with me. :( She did offer Clomid and I took the prescription just in case, but we don't want to take it right now. DH is concerned that we'll end up with twins! ;)
I think we'll go ahead and make an appt with a RE, just to see what else they can do for me. Part of me just wants to keep trying to get pregnant and not to worry about the LPD. I'm also hoping that this 2ww is the one! (I'm 5 or 6dpo).
Chris~n~Jen - What a bummer about the labwork mix-up, how frustrating! I hope that you catch the egg this cycle so you don't need to re-do them!
DelSol - Welcome! Nice to see you here.
Sorry to you lovely ladies that started AF. Here's to best wishes on the next cycle!
honeygirl, thanks for relating. I think we're in similar situations. :) We had a BD in 2 days before O. My DH thinks he does have "strong swimmers" (in his terms), but I don't know if they're as strong as he hopes. ;) Looks like we might be testing around the same time. Good luck!!!
I went to the GYN today for my annual and she was sooo excited to hear that we're TTC. It made me happy. She went through every concern I had and did blood work for all kinds of different things. She as well gave me Clomid since my cycles can be in the 40+ day range so I'm looking forward to trying it. I must be one of the few because she told me a side effect of it is an increase of having twins by 5-8%. I thought that would be really neat, but again I seem to be in the minority there.
honeygirl - Have you tried progesterone cream for the LPD? Did your doc even recommend that? As for the Clomid I was offered it too at my recent annual. I told the doc I was having very long cycles 40-50 days (granted my last was only 30 so I'm improving), he gave me an Rx for Clomid and told me that I could be pg within 3 months. I did lots of research online and the chances of twins is very small. It's only about a 2% increase. I did not try Clomid this cycle since my last cycle was 30 days long. I wanted to see if that was a fluke or if my body is finally regulating so we'll see how this cycle goes. If this cycle goes 40+ then I'll start the clomid next cycle.
me - I'm on CD 8. No CM yet, but I don't expect any for another day or so really. I've been experimenting with temping vaginally AND orally this cycle. I have 2 BD thermometers, the good one goes in my mouth though LOL. I've also been experimenting with trying to find my cervix this cycle. Not having much luck though. Other than that no real changes.
Jada~ I just wanted to let you know something that really helped with CM for me. Green Tea did nothing for me, however a herb called evening primrose oil did wonders for me. I bought the 50mg ones from Target and took one three times a day. However, you want to stop taking it after ovulation because it could cause contractions. You might want to try it:)
Welcome, Foxyboo! Hope your stay is short and sweet!
I'm so far behind in this thread, that there is no use in trying to do shoutouts! I'll try and keep up better.
As for me, I'm still freakin' waiting to O. I've had a headache for the past two days, that feels exactly like the pre-AF headache I usually get. I don't know what's up with that. I checked, and I'm not spotting or anything, so hopefully AF doesn't show. I would be bummed with an annov cycle.
On a good note, my DH has had the sex drive of an 18 year old. I'm not sure what his deal is, but I like it! ;) Hopefully, it'll get us somewhere this month!
Good luck to everybody that's about to test! Sorry to those of you that AF is bugging, and as for the rest of you....CATCH THOSE EGGIES!
Mrs. Jackson- yay for an 18y/o sex drive! WooHoo! Enjoy it while it lasts!
Thanks for the encouragement about my EW and temp rise, ladies, but it fell back down today, so I guess no O yet. DH was really tired after work last night, so we didn't BD last night. We will tonight, though. I don't know what the EW was about, because it hasn't been back. Like I said, I am trying not to care this cycle...you ladies know how hard that is.
I'm very impatient this 2WW. I'm really hoping this is the month for us. My oldest sis asked us this past weekend when we were having kids so I told her we were trying. Jess, I know how hard it is. My hubby was not in the mood this month and then when I gave up, bam... I O'd. :) It always happens when you least expect it. Have fun tonight!
FSU, let us know if the 2 BBT show different readings.. That would be interesting to hear. And I guess Clomid is quite common since it looks like all 3 of us just got a Px for it.
Kanga, good luck to you! I know the 2WW is the hardest part but it's nice to have someone to talk with about it and root you on. :)
I give up! I just can't keep up with this thread and I do replies at least once a day. Too much! :p
Thanks girls for the encoragement. I do feel better about the lab screwing up but my fingers are double crossed that there won't even be a CD3. I've got tons of EWCM today and yesterday. I was all set to start drinking my green tea but then decided it wasn't needed. Also I got the darkest second line that I've ever had on my internet cheapie OPK. I swear I don't even know why I am still using them because I have never in the 5 cycles I used them even gotten close to a positive. Today's line was by far the darkest. I'm going to use another OPK after work and compare the lines. I may just call today's a positive though. It was really close.
Good luck to those about to test. Sorry for anyone dealing with AF. To everyone in between good luck catching the eggies!
Oh, and welcome to foxyboo!
Katiems, temps are looking good!!!
Ptcrn, I know you haven't been posting much lately but I checked out your chart today and it looks great! And very different from some of your past charts. I really have all my thingys crossed for you.
Welcome Foxyboo!
I started temping vaginally for this last cycle and I've noticed that my temps are higher. I don't know which is more accurate but I do know that people who have problems w/ accurate temps due to sleeping w/their mouth open, drinking water throughout the night (me!!!) don't have the unusual readings the next morning. Regardless, you'll still get the same temp fluctuations with either process...but you definitely need to stick w/ one or the other or your temps will be all over the board.
FSUSammy
08-02-2006, 10:34 AM
tealynn - I totally agree about picking one way or the other with the temping. I'm trying out both because I sleep with my mouth open at times and I'm trying to compare how much of a difference my charts look orally vs. vaginally.
honeygirl
08-02-2006, 11:00 AM
FSUSammy - I am on progesterone suppositories (about 3-4 cycles so far). 50mg twice a day. They have helped lengthen my LP and stop spotting, but doesn't "fix" or identify what exactly is wrong with me. :rolleyes:
I hear you on the temping issues. Lately I've been congested (so sleeping with my mouth open) and I have such a hard time taking my temp. I have to try to keep my mouth closed (after waking up) for a few minutes and then test. I tend to fall asleep though, and the whole cycle starts over again. LOL!
Welcome Foxyboo!
Okay I'm starting to think that everyone around here takes clomid. :) Thanks for the info ladies, it's good to know that the twins likelyhood is so low (I just want 1 at a time). I'm still going to wait to see what the RE says, but I won't be as freaked out if they encourage Clomid also (and I'll know what to tell DH).
I made an appt with the RE and his first available was Sept 28th! Yikes. Oh well, hopefully by then we'll be knocked up so I can cancel the appt. :) I'm a little nervous that it's a male dr, there weren't any female RE's in my area (or the state for that matter). Do they do regular exam type stuff like a gyn does?
Well, I got crosshairs, so I suppose I think I O'd. I'll probably test around August 16th if AF doesn't show first. Tealynn, thanks for checking out my chart!! I do agree it looks a little different, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I'm temping every other day to keep my obsessions down! We'll see what it is tomorrow, but with the 100 degree heat, I'll bet it will be high anyway. :rolleyes: Everything I've heard about temping vaginally says it's more accurate- but yeah, you just have to stick to one or the other because it can be different by a few tenths.
katiems118, I agree with everyone, your chart is looking good! Lets hope that was an implantation dip!
foxyboo751 and DelSol- welcome! Hope your stays are short and sweet!
armadillo, good luck at your appointment tomorrow! I'm going to see if I can get into an RE soon too if AF shows this cycle.
honeygirl, I don't know if RE's do regular exams or not, but I would guess not. I'm in the same boat, I think there may be only 3 RE's in our whole state! One of them is a woman, but I've heard she doesn't have the best bedside manner. I won't care if she can get me pregnant! :D
Chris~n~Jen, good luck catching that egg!!
Jess71903, fingers crossed that you O soon! I do know how hard it is to try not to care. I say that more and more to myself with each cycle, but it never gets easier. I think we are at about the same point in our TTC journey, so I hear you! Have you read the book, "Conquering Infertility?" Its by Alice Domar and I'm reading it right now. It's really good so far: it talks a lot about being good to yourself and describes different techniques like relaxation to help cope.
Ok, I must go to bed now! Sorry if I missed anyone (I know I did!) Our house is on the market and so far we have had 5 or 6 showings but no offers yet. We have another showing tomorrow afternoon, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! It's exhausting constantly keeping the house clean enough to show!
tealynn ~ I'm interested to see how much easier it is to see the thermal shift by temping vaginally. I've been thinking of switching myself but just not quite sure yet. It sorta skeeves me out a bit for some reason.
honeygirl ~ I'm with you, I'd rather have a female doctor. I just feel that female doctors are more sensitive to our emotions. I also just feel more comfortable talking to a women about women problems. Although I have had 2 male gynos before (when I couldn't find a women in our area). Once I got over my initial nervousness, it was fine. Speaking of Clomid ;) , I have a crazy story. A co-worker of my husband is currently preggo. She was telling Chris that she was on Clomid to concieve. She actually offered him the remaining prescription that she has! Chris actaully thought about it for a minute, he's just that anxious to have a baby. I'm like Hun, I really think this is something that we should get prescribed by my doctor. I don't think I'd use her left over Clomid. (Although I do have to admit that I did think about it for a second also. :rolleyes: )
armadillo ~ Yay for Oing. Hope you caught the egg. How was your appointment this morning?
katiems ~ Hoping AF stays away from you.
Good Luck charliezangel! Let us know when you get good news.
ptcrn ~ Good luck showing your house today. Hopefully you'll get some offers soon.
Sorry to anyone I missed (hey, I can only go back ten posts ;) ).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm excited to say that I actually saw a positive OPK yesterday. I've been using the internet cheapies but have given up all hope of ever seeing a positive. Yesterday morning I was really excited to see the darkest second line ever (although still not what would be considered positive) on my i/c. So when I got home from work I took another i/c (line not nearly as dark as that morning) and also a random Answer brand OPK that I had laying around. Well the Answer was definatly positive. So Yay, for that.
This morning my i/c had barely any second line at all and my last Answer was definatly negitive. I also haven't noticed any EWCM yet today (although I will be drinking some green tea later to see if I can get any). If I don't see any at all today then I'm going to asume that I O'd yesterday. Hopefully I'll see a big temp spike tomrrow morning and the three signs will all point to me Oing. If my temp isn't up, then I'll just be really confused.
If I did O yesterday that will be the earliest I've ever O'd. I've never O'd before CD14. Sorry for writing a book, here. For once I had something to say.

My appointment this morning was a bit overwhelming! In a good way though! The RE is just throwing everything at me, it seems like. I came away with papers for labwork for DH's SA and bloodwork, bloodwork for me for CD1-3, and stuff for my radiology appointment. I have an HSG scheduled for the 21st, which is a few days after my next period, then a sonogram and follow-up visit with the RE on the 24th. He mentioned wanting to get me started on Clomid for my next cycle, even though I'm ovulating on my own. He said there have been studies done that show that Clomid helps with fertility even when the woman doesn't have any problems Oing. During that appointment, he should have the information from all the bloodwork and DH's SA, so he can make an informed decision about what to do next.
Oh, and one thing he mentioned that I thought was interesting...he says that when you're doing an OPK, the test line does NOT need to be darker than the control line. He said to just mark down the day that the test line is the darkest, then make sure to test the next day to see if the line is lighter or gone. He said to just ignore the control line altogether.
FSUSammy
08-03-2006, 02:47 PM
armadillo - Interesting info on the OPKs. There are several of us on here that had our docs prescribe Clomid even though we were Oing. I haven't taken it yet just because my last cycle was somewhat regular at 30 days. My previous cycles were anywhere from 40-50 days long so the doctor prescribed it. I'm hoping that this cycle is close to 30 as well, if so I'm going to avoid clomid. The whole point for me to take it was to get my cycles regular again in length.
me - I'm on CD 9 and started getting creamy CM today. Woohoo! Maybe that means my body is really regulating itself. I sure hope so!!! I'm on my third day of my vaginal vs oral temping. In just 3 days I've noticed the benefits of temping vaginally. My temps are very close to one another, unlike my oral temps. We'll see how the rest of my cycle plays out.

Quick drive by just to say that my appt today went fine. I got my right breast u/s and they saw a cluster of cysts. The radiologist said that I could wait to see if it goes away (3-6 months) or have it aspirated, and I chose the latter. I figure, if I get it checked out this time and it's nothing, I can feel good about waiting next time I get one (which the dr. said was likely).

08-03-2006, 03:36 PM
FSUSammy, that's interesting! My cycles are pretty regular, so that can't be the reason he wants me on it. He said no matter what your cycle or O situation, Clomid will help. *shrug* He's the expert, so I'll just do what he says.

Well...I was going to wait until after tomorrow which would be 16DPO+...but I had a major temp drop today. However, still not below the cover line. I'm going to give it a few more days, because last cycle I didn't have a temp drop when AF showed up and I O'ed5 days early this month. :confused:
Hoping for the best!!

foxyboo - don't get discouraged yet. Do you temp orally? If so maybe (just maybe) your mouth was open for awhile before you temped and your mouth was colder when you temped therefore giving you the low reading. Just trying to give you some hope. I guess we'll have to see how your temps do tomorrow.

armadillo:That is interesting on the OPK's. I think I may try that as I have had some pretty dark lines but never as dark as the control.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Ptcrn, temp rise today at 13 DPO, will you be testing this weekend?
Kris97 nice temp dip at 8 DPO (can you say implantation???) and then temp rise!!! It's looking good...
Foxyboo, I'm thinking you didn't actually O until CD 19. That would put you at about 11DPO and the dip could still mean good things! Also, looks like you Oed on CD 20 last cycle so it makes a little more sense.
Armadillo, I'm glad you found a very proactive RE. Sounds like they'll get you on the path to mommyhood very quickly!
FSUSammy,I feel like I've gotten better/more accurate results temping vaginally as well. All I can say is if you can't wrap your head around doing it, you're gonna have a really hard time with all the poking and prodding that comes along w/ having a baby.;)
Polkadot, Sorry about the headache and the impending arrival of the unwanted visitor!
Jess, glad the radiologist gave you a clean bill of health!
Nothing exciting here, just very crampy and crabby! I've been eating peanut butter M & M's already today. They are soooo good.
Have a great weekend everybody. I have a feeling we may have some BFP's in here very soon!

That's what I thought too...well, to be honest...I drank on the weekend of CD 16, because I normally don't O until CD 20/21. Also, my BIL passed away last month and I've been under a lot of stress, so I thought my cycle mayhave changed to CD 15...but I'm glad you are seeing what I saw in the temps!! :D :D We'll see soon enough!

polkadot ~ Sorry about the pre-af headache. I'll be sending "AF stay away" vibes to you!
foxyboo ~ I agree, it looks like you O'd on CD19. Good Luck!
tealynn ~ Mmmm, peanut butter m&m's, my favorite! Too bad I'm dieting and cant have any. :(
katiems ~ Fingers crossed for you! I agree you should wait until Sunday. No sense in wasting a test.

Guess what I found out yesterday..... my company is changing insurance companies. So I'm hoping that the new insurance has better fertility coverage. I won't know until September 1st when the new insurance kicks in. I opted for the best coverage available, so hoping it's better than the no coverage at all that my last insurance had.
I was so hoping to see a temp spike this morning, but nope went down a bit. So confusing because my OPK this morning didn't even have a second line. It was getting increasingly darker up until my + then yesterday the second line was faint and then today nothing. Also my CM seems to have dried up. You'd think that would mean that I O'd. I know it's possible for the CM to come back in a couple of days. I wonder if the same is true for the OPK's. I normally don't O until day 14-16 anyway, so I still have time. Just thought it was odd.

Well girls...AF showed up on CD31...right on time. Very light though (which is not normal for CD1) so I'm gonna keep a close eye on it. So...another month. DH is not sympathetic at all...he has a bacterial infection in his salivary gland so his face is all swollen. Oh well. :( :( I'll just have to try more this month!

foxyboo So sorry to hear AF showed. Grrrrrr...
Good luck to the rest that are testing soon. We need a BFP in this thread!
To touch on something Chris~n~Jen said about insurance covering infertility, my BF who works in HR told me that when I was job searching, the way to find out whether fertility treatments would be covered without actually asking if they are is to ask if the company is self-insured. If they are, it is highly likely they do not cover infertility treatments. If they are not, they probably do. I have no idea if this 100% true, but when I was job searching, I know I asked the HR reps at a few companies, and they always knew the answer to that question right away.
Nothing new here. AF just left, but with my pretty long cycles, I've probably got another 2 weeks before anything exciting starts :(

This sounds so dumb, but I *think* my period has arrived (perhaps its just spotting, but that almost never happens.) For now I'm counting it as CD1. I'm sorry to see others in the same boat.
Re: open mouths: I have never been fully convinced of the accuracy of my BBT, since I can take 3 temps right after another and have them be very different, and sometimes I get the same temp three days in a row. I'm a total mouth-breather, so I try to breathe through my nose for a bit before temping in the morning, but who knows if that works. The thermometer is only a few months old, so I don't think it's a battery issue, but who knows...
Has anyone else distrusted their temps? Did you get a new batter? A new thermometer? Something else?
Good luck to everyone testing in the upcoming days...

ok so i have a question....Today is day 34 of my cycle...the longest cycle I have ever had was 35 days and that was b/c of the chemical pregnancy which ended in a m/c. :( So, do you think i should test anyway just to make sure. I have no symptoms and dont feel much different....but its in the back of my head that i have tons of tests in my bathroom. I didnt temp this month b/c of my surgery and then b/c of the pneumonia...so
QOTD: Should polkadot test???

kris97 - I'm a total mouth breather too due to bad allergies. This cycle I'm experimenting with oral vs vaginal temps and I'm surprised that my vag. temps are all very close to one another. Granted I've only done this for about 5 days now but if this cycle stays looking this way I may stop temping orally all together.
polkadot - I'd test tomorrow morning if AF hasn't shown up.

Hey ladies... no BFP for me. :( AF showed up this morning right on schedule. Threadmistress, please move me back to waiting to O. I will have a call in Monday morning to my doctor for a referral to an RE.
polkadot, I looked at your charts and it looks like your longest LP's have been 12 or 13 days. Assuming you O'd right after your last day of EW this month, your LP right now would only be 12 days. I would wait a couple more days to test, just so you don't waste any. Good luck!
charliezangel, sorry about the anovulatory cycle. I hope AF shows for you soon so you can move on!
risa00, kris97, and foxyboo751- sorry about AF! I guess we are all in the same boat. :rolleyes: I hope next month is better for all of us!

polkadot ~ good luck with testing. Everything is crossed for you.
ptcrn ~ sorry about the BFN.
MrsJackson05 ~ yeah for o'ing!!!!
foxyboo ~ sorry to hear about AF showing.
As a follow up to the infertility treatment covered by insurance, most of the ones I have dealt with did not cover it. There are only a few states that do cover it. I believe mine only covers the testing to determine the infertility but won't cover something like IVF.
Me ~ I'm on CD 12, I usually O on CD 16, so when I should I start the BD? :confused: I defiantly plan on BDing on CD 15 & CD 16 just in case my O doesn't occur on it'd normal day.
DH's Gram isn't doing well, we had to hear from MIL that she doesn't expect her to make it to the end of the year. DH visited her yesterday and said she seemed to be doing fine, he wasn't sure what his mom was talking about. But MIL just called us and said Gram has some fluid on her lungs. Yesterday when we were driving to look at some land, I told DH I hope Gram can hold out to see your child since I know how much Gram would love to see him/her. So now if this is on DH's mind BDing won't be happening. :(

Hey ladies...Sorry I've been MIA lately, but I think I've just trying not to think about TTC at all. I didn't start re-temping until about a week ago, and I *think* I O'd Friday but won't know for sure till tomorrow's temp. If so, timing wasn't very good this month, but at least we got some in the day of O.
Polka ~ Sorry about the BFN and the migraine! I hope you feel better soon!
foxyboo, kris, ptcrn, Risa and anyone else I missed ~ Sorry AF showed. :( She just sucks.
MrsJackson05 ~ Yeah for O'ing!!
DelSol ~ My O range is from day 13-16, so I usually *try* to start the BD festival around day 11. Ideally, I'd try for every other day until after day 16 or I know I O'd, but honestly, that never happens for us. I'm sorry to hear about DH's gram. It's so hard to see our family members getting old and sick, huh? :(
charliezangel ~ Sorry about the annov cycle. Here's hoping AF shows up soon so you can get on with the next cycle.

Awww...man I thought I'd come back from vacation and see like 3 or 4 BFPs. :( I feel like I have been away so long. Don't tell me we haven't had any. :confused: Ah well, at least I came back to a new thread. :D As for me, since my RE told me that this cycle after surgery would be screwy I don't know WHEN AF is coming. My temp for the past 10 days has been kinda high (post-O 98+ range) as my body recovers but today I had my first temp in the 97 range which I assumed was a temp drop and meant AF is on the way. Problem is my surgery was CD 12 (3-4 days before I would have normally O'ed). So I was trying to figure out if this was going to be an annovulatory cycle or if surgery was just going to delay my O. I used a couple OPKs to try and figure out but they were -gative. So who knows. AF's scheduled due date if I'd never had the LAP is this Friday. We'll see...:rolleyes:
Well, good luck to those testing this week! And to the rest of ya...go out and catch that egg!

Awww...man I thought I'd come back from vacation and see like 3 or 4 BFPs.
I thought the same thing pocahontas! Sorry ladies, what a bummer, especially when it comes on a weekend!
We had a busy weekend traveling and so I couldn't temp very well since Friday. I did have some light spotting (bright pink) yesterday and a tiny bit today. I'm not sure if that means AF is coming early or it's implantation? Given my hx of spotting I'm not exactly getting my hopes up KWIM? :rolleyes:
I have a few pregnancy symptoms, but given my progesterone medication I know that's to be expected. I guess all in all I'm staying pretty :cool: so far this cycle. No plans to test, I'll wait a few more days to see if AF comes.
I got a packet from the RE in the mail. I made DH laugh while filling out some of the questions (about him). There are always more funny ways to discuss these things. IE - Instead of "Do you have difficulty with errection or ejaculation" I asked "Do you have difficulty getting it up or out". :D
I'm still hoping that I won't need the RE appt, but I'm going to be prepared. I've looked into our insurance and we have pretty good coverage, even IVF! There are limits, but it's pretty generous. That puts my mind at ease a bit.
Sorry this post is so long. Have a great start to your week everyone!

It's a prescription, comes in suppository form (soft messy things that encapsulate the progesterone). It is a higher dose than the OTC creams. I take 50mg two times a day.
My temp took a dive this morning. Now, I'm not sure if I have ovulated, or I'm having an annov cycle. Any ideas?
MrsJackson - See what happens with tomorrows temp. Looking at your prior cycles you've had some temp drops after O before, and it looks like being "sticky" is your post O pattern also. Hang in there.

Hey Ladies,
Sorry for being MIA lately, things have been pretty crazy at work and home!
I am pretty sure I O'd last Friday (even with missing taking my temp this weekend). However, we didn't cover our basis very well. We participated in the Relay for Life American Cancer Society walk on Friday through Saturday, so no time to BD. Plus, after the walk we were just too tired for any BDing!! Oh well, I guess now I just wait for AF to arrive and start over.

MrsJackson05 - I agree with Honeygirl, you'll need to wait and see what happens with tomorrow's temps. Hopefully it was a false low temp and AF isn't on her way.
Me - Well ladies I'm actually anxious to go to bed so that I can wake up to see tomorrow's temp. How silly is that? I had some sharp O-like pains earlier today and I'm noticing some other O-like symptoms (breaking out, swollen labia, sensitive BBs). I had some watery CM earlier today but now its pretty much sticky so I guess its a waiting game to see if O happened today or not. If it did then man my timing was really good with getting that BDing in last night.

Waiting to O
We started to TTC back in Feb and got pg right away but I ended up having a miscarriage in March, I also had a m/c back in 2001 and I think I may have had another one back in June. AF the last couple of months has been really whacky, I've been having brown spotting for 5-6 days before AF shows up in full force and 2 cycles ago was annov. So here I am, I bought TCOYF on ebay a couple days ago and started charting last month.
Last month I drank grapefruit juice and green tea and those didn't seem to help so I bought Evening Primrose Oil and B6 to try this cycle, has anyone else taken them and noticed a difference?
One more question, is it still possible to O if you don't get EWCM? Last month I had a thermal shift in my temp and a positive OPK but never got anything more than creamy cm.

Hi ladies.. I'm back from petsitting.. way too many replies for individual s/o's so Sorry to everyone AF found! And good luck to those O'ing or testing soon!
Welcome foxyboo and kerrykate! Hope your stays are short and sweet.
Thanks for the compliment on my avatar Jess That's my Oscar boy. He's such a sweetie! Glad I finally figured out how to do that... I'll put my kitties up there in a couple weeks.
Well FF and Ovusoft still say that I O'd CD21. I'm not sure because my temps are on the low side and I'm still getting some funky CM... (usually very sticky and low CP post-O). I guess we'll see what happens... if I don't get AF by Thurs or Fri I'll test.

Welcome Kerry! Sorry to hear about the m/c. Yes it is possible to O without EWCM. I rarely have EWCM and I've been Oing. Now are you checking internally? If not I'd suggest that you do just because its quit possible that you DO have EWCM, but it just doesn't ever makes its way all the way down.
ABirney - Just curiuos (if you can remember back) did anything happen around CD 21. Like did you have a glass of wine or stay out late or didn't get much sleep? I agree that your temps are a bit on the low side to be post-O temps. I'm thinking you haven't O'd yet.

I need some chart advise!!! FF gave me crosshairs today saying I O'd on CD14, however my temps are actually going down. Plus the spike on CD15 is misleading because I had a few drinks the night before. :rolleyes: I'm also so confused as to why I would have a +OPK and my last day of EWCM on CD11 but not actually O until CD14.
My normal O date is CD14 so it is probably sorta accurate. Just need some reasurrance. :o

Mrs. Jackson - I think its a wait and see game...I'm not totally convinced of FF's call that you O'd on CD23...but don't give up hope!!
kerrykate - welcome! In answer to the EWCM question....I only get 1 day or so of EWCM if that...I tend to max out at creamy!
polkadot - hang in there! I hope you can figure out what is happening with the longrer cycle.
Sam - cracking me up. Who would have thought that taking a pg test could feel like Christmas morning/first day of school/any other event where you'd want to go to bed just to wake up!?! we just cross-posted...so to follow up, I think it's wait and see. sometimes I have a slight rise, but I don't know that I've ever dipped first. But that's me - other people have had O dips I think.
jessied1025 - I hear you about being to tired to BD. I hope you're able to relax even though things are hectic.
me - CD 15, temped this morning but I forgot to look at the thermometer after I actually woke up. DH and I have been running around alot so we're both pretty exhausted. We did have "a talk" a few nights ago, which was really good. Although we are technically TTC, we're not actively timing BD yet. We're going to Italy in November, and we'd "prefer" to wait until after we get back to really start trying, but we are both ready so we're seeing what happens. I have seen enough people that have had trouble conceiving that I figure that if we're both ready except for the Italy thing, then we should at least leave it up to nature/God. If I can't sample all of the fabulous wines of Italy, tough luck. However, I've been paranoid that DH isn't on the same page and I don't ever want to pressure him into having a baby. This is really difficult on my end, because I look at my chart every freakin day and I know when I'm fertile and when I'm not. So, I wanted DH to feel like he's on the same page to some extent, so I have little pieces of red, yellow, and green paper and I put the one on the nightstand that cooresponds with my "level of fertility," so that way, if its green, he knows its green, and he is part of the decision to BD knowing the end result could be haing a baby. To wrap up this really long story (sorry about that), we had a great talk and we are definitely now "on the same page." Yay! Let the BDing begin!!

motray36 - That's SUCH a brilliant idea about the different colored papers. I too and afraid of having DH think I'm tricking him into having a baby. Just like you said, I look at my chart daily so I know when I'm fertile and when I'm not. Glad you guys had a great talk though and are now on the same page.
Jen - I'd almost venture to guess that you haven't O'd yet. You need to have 3 high temps over the last 6 and I really don't see that on your chart yet.

Thanks Sam. I was starting to think that myself. When I discard CD15 temp FF takes away my crosshairs. I think I may just leave it like that. So frustrating. I normally O between CD14-16 but this cycle I had some extra stress due to my husband losing his job. These last three weeks have been horrible and I'm wondering if the stress didn't delay my O. :(
You would think after 11 cycle TTC and 6 of those charting, I'd have a better idea of what's going on with my body, but I still get so confused all the time. :rolleyes:
Courtney, I spy you! :D

I was fully expecting FF to take away my crosshairs after this morning's temp, but it didn't. My temp only went up one tenth, so it wasn't much.
Who the hell knows what's going on.
Welcome, KerryKate!

Me ~ CD 14 for me today. We had our first BD last night! I was so excited, I couldn't believe we were actually trying for a baby. We'll try again tomorrow as long as DH is ok. Tomorrow should be the day before I O so we really need to get some BDing in then and I'll throw Thursday in for good measure. ;)

ChrisnJen, I agree with FSUSammy that you probably haven't O'ed yet. I'm guessing your stress may have delayed it. But with that temp dip today, maybe you're gearing up to O...
Abirney, those are pretty low post O temps, and w/ your CM still being described as EW, it's hard to think that you have O'ed but you also have had some previous post O temps that were low so...basically I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
Welcome KerryKate!
Motray, that's a great idea with the colored paper. I should probably do that w/ my moods so my hubby's got a heads up. "Today is code orange baby!"
Delsol, BDing when you're trying to conceive is very exciting and scary all at the same time. And then there's the other end of the spectrum which is trying, and trying and trying to conceive and nothing's happening. It can be very overwhelming too. It's a roller coaster ride of emotions!
I'm just waiting for the BD fest to begin. It'll probably be at least one more week so I'll just hang out and cheer everyone else on!
Good luck to all those testing soon!

Caught me!
Hi, ladies. :) I've been lurking for a few months now. Been in the TTA thread since last fall and have learned a ton from those knowledgeable gals about charting (although I still feel like I have a lot to learn to get anywhere near as wise as they are). Anyways, DH and I were going to wait until September to TTC but we recently (as in a few days ago) decided to just go for it now. We're both ready and it works out well with our work/academic plans. So...I know we're not supposed to join until CD1, so I'm fine if you don't add me until next cycle if this one doesn't work out for us. I would have joined at CD1, but we didn't make this decision until very recently. But I'll post my info anyways:
Me: SQ2/28
DH: 28
Married since: August 2004
Off BCP since: November 2005
