QOTD: 5:30 dinner w/ a sippy of milk ( he usally drinks 5-7 oz.)
6:30 Bath
7:00 Bed
We used to give a sippy of milk after his bath, but he was only drinking about 2-3 oz, so we just stopped and there hasn't been any problem.

Sasha: Good luck with your hurricane preparations. I can't imagine the stress. :(

Same issue here. She'll play with them and then toss them. I've tried every sippy on the market. We have other issues (mainly sleep) that I need to address first so the sippy is being put on the back burner for now.

Halloween
DD was a caterpillar last year so this year I thought it was only fitting for her to be a butterfly - lol! I bought the costume at BRU for $19.00! Much better than last year's $50.00 costume!

Bath
We have the Safety 1st bath seat. She does well in it and I load the bat h with toys so she doesn't try to stand up. We went through a phase where she would try to stand in it but she's over it now. I wash her hair and upper body in the seat and at the last minute I lift her out to wash her "under parts" and sit her back down for the rinse off.
Here's the seat:

HELP! I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM!
Here's the issue:
DD drinks regular milk - no problem during the day - she eats yogurt and cheese with no issue as well - The problem is when I give her the last bottle of the day- she's up several times a night in major stomach distress. I give her Mylicon before her last bottle and throughout the night - she's just miserable. Every time she moves she wakes up crying. I can hear her stomach gurgling and feel the bubbles when I touch her side or belly. I'm beside myself at his point. She's almost 15 months and this has been an issue since we transitioned to milk at 1 year. I spoke to the ped assistant and she suggested moving her to soy - I did for a week and the issues remain. Plus there is some controversy over the additional estrogen in soy - so I'd rather not do that. I spoke to the Ped last week and he thought we should move back to cows milk. We did and the result is the same. I'm not sure what's going on. (I also burp her after the bottle) I also posted this in the 0-18 month section. I'm desperate!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Jessiesmama: I would stop giving milk before bed. Just stop it cold turkey. If she needs something, try water or a rice milk. If she is waking b/c of the discomfort from the milk vs. waking because she is hungry I’d just cut the milk before bed. I’d maybe front load her with milk when she wakes then again with breakfast or lunch, but I’d first cut that bottle out. It’s probably not causing her a problem during the day b/c her high level of activity works out and breaks down those bubbles/gurgles you are hearing at night. Just my 2 cents. Hang in there!!

Jessiesmama can you give her water before bed? I would stop the milk if it is causing issues

QOTD
6:30 dinner
7:30 video
8:00 bath
8:30 bottle and cuddle time
8:45 crib awake.

Aiden won't take milk out of a sippy yet either so we are not pushing it just yet.

QOTD

What is everyone's timeframe for dinner, then do you give a bottle/beverage, and what time is bed?

Here is ours:

Dinner 5:30pm
Bottle 7:45/8pm
Bedtime right after he finishes the bottle (he's put down awake)

I almost had the bottle weaned before the Chicago trip, but it started up again as a comforting thing to get him to go to bed. I am in the process of weaning him of it now. When & how did you stop giving 'milk' before bed?

Dinner: 5:30 or 6:00 (depending on when Ryan gets home)
Bathtime: Anywhere from 6:30-7:00
Bedtime/Cup of milk: 7:00-ish

She takes a cup when we put her to bed. I'm not looking forward to weaning her from the cup of milk we give her when we put her to bed. Lately bedtime/naptime has NOT been an enjoyable experience she's really been fussy lately. I think it's the move.

Sleep issues: Thanks for the advice, y'all. We're back on our routine hard core now. Hopefully it gets better.

Milk issues: Aidan gets diarrhea from regular whole milk. Processed stuff doesn't really bother her so we can give her yogurt, cheese and stuff like that but regular milk causes problems. I moreorless self-diagnosed lactose intolerance since it runs in the family. We give her Lactaid whole milk and it doesn't cause any tummy issues.

Okay, Thomas has whole milk at B, L, D from a straw cup and sometimes even at snacks with zero problems - naps like a champ.

When I was transitioning his bedtime bottle from formula to milk (6oz form/2oz milk, 5oz form/3oz milk) he was suddenlt getting real gassy and having trouble sleeping. He ended up refusing the bottle, then sleeping well. I thought we were totally bottle weaned before bed...then we went to the ILs and everything went amuck  . Now he's back to drinking a bottle of formula before bed.

This time I plan to just give less and less formula in the bottle until he's weaned. He slept fine when he was only taking 0-2oz just a few weeks ago.

This is why I posted the QOTD to see if others were skipping a pre-bedtime beverage...

It makes no sense to me, why would it bother him at night and not during the day?? Why can he nap after milk but not STTN? Wierd.

Alien What size costume did you buy your DD from Babystyle? I think i may have bought to big of a size.

My dd weights 24 and 1/2 lbs and it says 27 pounds starts the 18 months size so i bought the 18 month and now i am thinking it may be to darn big if their costumes run really big..

I got 18-24 mos. She is only 19lbs now but 30.75 inches so I wanted to make sure the length was OK. It's a little baggy but the length seems fine, room to grow in the next 2 months. Plus if it's cold she'll have layers underneath.

However after saying that, I tried on her Babystyle size 3-6 month chick on and it fit too - starting to get short in the crotch though.

here's a picture: she's not thrilled to have her halloween costume on in August (plus it was hot).

http://static.flickr.com/74/210117388_a93a173617_m.jpg

ETA: I forgot to mention that I don't think this costume is that "girly" so I'm still up in the air, I may change my mind if I find something different. I was also thinking LAMB (she says BAAAA when we mention lamb) or CAT since Kat is her nickname. Decisions/decisions!!

Those of you interested in MONKEY costumes, Old Navy has a cute one for $19.50.

Nighttime routine

Dinner around 6:00 (gets milk at dinner)
Bath/teeth brushing around 7:00-7:15
Bed around 7:30

She gets a few sips of water before bed but no milk.

Sasha I hope the storm doesn't get you guys.

jessiesmama I agree with the other posters, if she has milk at dinner can she just have water at bedtime? Maybe that would help her tummy.

tgray thanks for the info on SKR. I have one store by me so I'll have to check them out.

Sasha thinking about you..Hope the storm passes.

Alien Oh my what a cute costume!!! I was thinking of getting that one if the one I bought doesn't work out. There are so many super cute costums for girls.

ON costumes are awesome..I bought DS costumes there for the last 3 years, but this year they did not ahve anything I really liked. He was the monkey last yr..super cute by the way and this year they ahve a frog, but I am not so sure I like it..I'll have to wait till they hit the stores later this week.

Alien~DD likes to get on the stairs when we are not looking. I'm always scared to death that she is going to fall! I figured it was better to work with her on how to navigate them properly than to have her freak out and tumble down them. We do let her climb the stairs to go up for naps and bedtime, and one of us is always behind her just in case she misses a step. ;) Adorable pic of your DD in the costume!

Kisses~DD now refuses to wave to people. Instead she blows about a million kisses in their direction to say hi and bye.

psusna~Ugh! Sorry about the rude woman at SR. :( So cute about DS's impression of a duck!

Christy~I just noticed that your DD has a tooth! Congrats! Sorry about the teething woes. We are there right now too.

Halloween~I think we are going to dress her up as Snow White, but have decided on it 100%.

Standing in the Tub~We've got the problem here too. I do allow her to stand while I'm washing her, but otherwise I make her sit down (battle of the wills) because we have the sliding doors with the metal track along the tub.

QOTD: Evening Routine
Dinner~7:00pm
Milk~8:00pm
Bed~8:30pm

Ferris~So cute about Doug's lion impression!

Sasha~Praying the hurricane dissipates before getting near you!

Jodie~I agree with pususna. I would just stop the nighttime milk. If she's really thirsty or won't go to bed without some, I would offer water.

Ugh!! I'm tired and have been cleaning like a mad woman for the last couple of days, so I'm off to watch a movie while DD naps! :D

disney darn it! i guess i will have to give up on my dream of dd to be a monkey! i just thought it would be the perfect outfit for her to wear now, while she doesn't have input. seems like all i have been seeing for this age is princess that would work for our weather. i am sure she will want to be a princess 4 years in a row, like my other friends daughters have been...so i kinda wanted to avoid buying a princess dress while i could. there is just not much out there for warmer weather! hmmmm I saw a kitty that was a leotard and tights. maybe i will just do that. why does this have to be so hard!!!!!

Abbey is walking!!! She's been taking a few steps here and there for the last 2 weeks or so, but she really took off this weekend and will now take 6 or 7 steps before falling. I'm sure that she could go forever if she would let us hold her hands or use her push toys, but little miss independent has to do it all on her own. :) She won't even walk between furniture. She has to start in the middle of the room, stand up by herself w/o assistance, and go. I have to say though, I am pretty proud of her for learning to do it all alone, with no help. ;)

QOTD- Our schedule seems a little later than most people's, but Scott doesn't get home until about 6:30 and likes to spend time with Abbey before we get into our routine.

Dinner-6:30 or 7pm
Bath- 7:45
Story and milk- 8:15
Bed- 8:30

Halloween- I have NO idea, which is weird b/c I had already bought her costume last year at this time. See how happy she was?

alienhost- Adorable costume!

Sasha- So sorry about the hurricane season fun. Maybe I should move back to Miami. We didn't have one storm in the 2 years I was there after college. :)

Alicia - Yay for Abbey!!!! And definitely come back to SoFla and don't bring any hurricanes with ya. ;)

Well of course Sarah's daycare is now closed tomorrow but my office is still open, at least in the morning. I don't know what DH's schedule is going to be, but I have a feeling Sarah is going to be joining me for a bit in the office tomorrow morning. My bosses don't mind, but it's freaking joke. Nothing will get done because everyone is in "hurricane-mode" and Sarah is somewhat of a distraction. Fun fun, I tell you...

Congrats, Abbey!

Allyson, you're joking about getting together with Rosanne but it might help getting Aiden around a walker. Aidan couldn't stand up on her own, she had to pull up on something, we tried helping her learn but she couldn't. Then she went to my friend's house whose little girl could stand up on her own and walk and then a day later she could do it. I think it helps them when they can see someone their size doing it. Just a thought!

Rice Milk: What is it, is it cheaper than Lactaid and does it have calcium? Also where in the grocery store would I look for it?

I got mine in the "organic" section of my regular grocery store and any one like Whole Foods. Its the only 'milk' I could drink while BFinfg...and really, its just not good! lol I think they are fortified. There's a bunch of different ones, so if its for DC just compare labels.

tgray99
08-28-2006, 02:56 PM
Thanks, Kim. I shop at a military commissary with a pretty limited organic section so I'll probably stick with Lactaid. It's annoying that a half gallon of Lactaid costs the same as a gallon of Parmalat. I doubt I could trick her into eating a lactaid tablet before I give her milk.

Traciann~Here are a few non-Princess costumes that appear to be lightweight.
Ladybug (http://www.anytimecostumes.com/costumes/01529666.html) - $16
Flapper (http://www.mymamabear.com/flapper-halloween-costume.html) - $25
Indian (http://www.babyultimate.com/53527.html) - $23
Unfortunately, all the monkey costumes I found were a heavier material. HTH!

Alicia~Congrats on the walking!!

I'm so far behind, I'm not going to pretend to catch up...

rice milk ~ I like it actually :) ... I get a quart for 1.19 (1.29?) at Whole Foods. Nic really likes almond milk -- I buy him Pacific Foods almond milk at Whole Foods - it's a lil more expensive, but it works for him...

Dinner ~ 6:30-ish, then playtime for a few (so he poops)
Bedtime ~ 7:30 (is the goal - sometimes it works, sometimes i just wish it would) I nurse him to sleep still... I'm jealous of all who just lay an awake child in a crib and leave...

LOVE the ON monkey costume... I was just thinking of what Nic should be and decided it should be a monkey... now, I don't even have to go looking for a costume :) thanks!!

We had our 15 month well baby visit today, a lil late...
Weight: 24 lbs 6 oz - 50%
Height - 32" - 75%
Head Circum - 19" (maybe, i forget but it was) - 70%

YAY Abbey on the WALKING!!! Congrats to you too, Alicia! ;)

Dreshny and Ally: I know I've said this before, ENJOY this time, while it lasts, they will walk soon enough and your WHOLE world changes. It gets A LOT busier!!! I forget what it was like before Landon walked! I know it was easier, or maybe I just had more energy. ;) No worries though, they'll do it when they're ready.

alien: cute costume.

OK...dh has Landon running errands w/ him. I'm gonna go take a nap. My cousin left for what I call "Plane School" ;) today, actually she was hired as a flight attendant for Sky West and she left for Utah today for four weeks, then will most likely be moved from there to Chicago to work. She's my other cousin's sister ( the one w/ the biting incident) and we're all three like sisters, it's been an emotional day!

I nurse him to sleep still... I'm jealous of all who just lay an awake child in a crib and leave...

Yeah, no kidding! We were cosleeping, but Asher was thrashing and kicking too much for comfort, so we just converted our crib to a toddler bed (took off the stationary side) and attached it with bungee cords to the foot of our bed like a big cosleeper. (We tried putting him to sleep in the crib but it was a no-go.) So now when Asher wakes up in the night and I nurse him back to sleep, I end up falling asleep in the crib with him...

Ally: tgray is right: Asher started taking a few steps after hanging around his walking friends.

We haven't tried it with both of us, but I do walk him around the playground some, and DH walks him around the apartment. It's only in the last week or so that he lets us do it--he used to drop to his knees immediately.

Good Lord I am behind. We survived 2 flights and 2 four hour car rides over the weekend. My little guy is a trooper and we're thinking that we can finally head to beach after seeing him hang in there with our crazy travel. He's eaten crap all weekend and had his first experience real experience with Mickey D's (yuck!) and has no problem with strangers. Actually he is one happy little dude until he sees me and then he gets all whiny!

Halloween What?!?! It's still August, right? :) I'm all for getting in embarassing costumes while I still can so I'll have to think about it. I love the Pirate costume.

Stride Rite and Shoes I HATE Stride Rite. I refuse to go there anymore. First half of the 10 boys in his class all have the same shoe. Second, when my mom tried to get us a gift card, they said that we could not use it in our state, only in hers. WTF? Third, damn sandals fell apart after 2 months of solid wear. That place is a total racket. I'm currently in love with Target's Stride Rite knock off line. We have these and so far very durable:

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000CF2FCY.16._SCMZZZZZZZ_SS128_.jpg

The other places where I've seen good selection for 4-5 size is Rack Room Shoes, JC Penney and Sears.

Bedtime Pretty similar to what everyone has been posting. Ped said nightime milk is ok until around 18 months as long as you're brushing before bed. Personally I would love to move it up with dinner time but for it's ok.

ahavnes Congrats on the walking and the stroller score!

Traciann~No problem!

Disney~I like the pirate one too!

Shylah has had such a rough day. First, while throwing a tantrum, she went to throw herself on the floor only to bang her head on the leg of our rolling office chair (metal legs). Then as she was climbing into DH's video game chair, she did a nosedive off the other side (fortunately only about 8in. off the floor). Then while DH and I were watching a movie, she went to walk between us and fell smacking her head on the legs of the TV tray right where they come to a V. Yep! Three major bangs in one day!! Luckily the first two left no marks, but the third had a goose egg and bruise pop up almost instantly. :( Poor girl cried forever. DH tried to ice it, but DD wouldn't have any of it. I refill her cup while she sat and rocked with DH. After about 5 minutes she was up and playing, and we haven't seen any signs of concusion. I'm still doing the uber-worried mom thing though and resisting the urge to check on her every 5 minutes in her sleeping. :o

She learned a new word today!! She loves bubbles, so I was blowing them this morning after she lugged the jug over to me. I asked her if she could say "bubbles". She repeated it back to me clear as day!! :D She can also say yes, Seth, Dada, Racer (cat), cheese, this, that, what's, no, and don't.

Also she can identify her nose, eyes, ears, mouth, face, head, hair, knees, toes, and shoulders! :D

Sorry to brag, but I just had to share something positive in light of her rough day! ;)

tgray99 We acutally walk with Aiden A LOT and he has greatly improved. My nanny walks with him twice a day and he was walking all over the place this weekend holding our hand.

I could see it in his eye last night he wants to walk. He was crusing along the bed sooooo. fast and then he got the edge looked out and took one step and fell. So I think he gets it :)

Alicia - That is a great stroller, I had it for like a day. ;) I bought it in red (at full price  ) but accidentily got that pink one instead in the box. Greg refused to push a pink stroller, so I went to exchange it but spied the Peg Aria instead and liked how light it was, so returned the pink Mac for that instead. Mistake, the Aria is pretty cheaply made, IMO. I wish I had kept the pink Mac, despite DH's objections! Anyway, great score!

tgr - Poor Shylah! Hope she has a better day today!

Disney - Love the Pirate costume.

So Sarah is sitting on the floor next to me right now in my office at work. It is beautiful this morning, I really think her daycare could have done a half day. Anyway, I brought a boatload of toys with me, LOL. We'll probably leave after lunch time because the weather is going to start taking a turn for the worse later this afternoon, but I don't think it's going to be too bad, relatively speaking. We may lose power (our house loses power if someone coughs too hard  ) but if so, hopefully it will be short-lived.

thanks for the comments on the costume ladies, DH actually really likes the costume so I'll probably keep it.

ahavnes yeah for walking and great score on the stroller. I almost got that pattern but decided the red one was more practical and I got a less expensive model.

DisneyGirl I like both actually. I think the dragon is pretty cute too. I think it depends on what you think the weather will be like, the dragon one seems warmer and easier with layers vs the pirate one.

Hi all! We just got back from a long weekend in San Francisco. Avery did well on the flight down. We met up with some friends who have 2 young boys and Avery loved playing with them (and all their toys!!). On the way home, she was quite 'spunky'. Luckily the flight home wasnt very full, so our sphere of annoyance was pretty small (and there were other families with small kids around us, so they didn't seem to mind so much). She actually had the nerve to fall asleep just as we started decending into Seattle .

Halloween costume: I need to find a cute outfit without a hat/hood. My kid pulls off all hats and stuff, unless we're in the sun. We have to watch him if we're out for a walk because once we're in the shade, he pulls the hat off and throws it over the side of the stroller. We've lost at least one hat because we were talking and missed the toss.

walking: I realized that part of it is being in a small home, and I'm sure this is part of it for Aiden. At home, he walks between our furniture, but everything is within 5-6 steps for him. When we visited my parents, he was going double the distance because their furniture is spaced out more.

Shoes: we scored a pair of Stride Rite shoes this past weekend. Nothing like having grandma buy a pair of those, especially with their prices!!!! Now that I know his size, I'm going to buy some non-SR shoes (the ones we have now are Robeez).

Look in the Yellow Pages under consignment or resale. That's how I find stores when I'm new to an area.

Disney ~ I'm gonna say that although i like the pirate, i think the dragon is cuter...and, the dragon is probably one of those costumes that you won't get him in once he has an opinion. The pirate on the other hand...well, I'm sure he'll ASK to be a pirate at some point...

Bumps ~ We have a freezer thing in the shape of Nemo - its a boo-boo pad or something like that. Anyway, any time Nicfalls and bumps his head (which he does a lot.. esp when crawling/walking on the tile floor)... once you pull that out, he's so fascinated with it that he forgets all about his bump (obviously not good for serious bumps, but it works great for the more scared than hurt ones)

We had our 15 month WBV today. I totally dig seeing Army doctors! We had a full 20 minutes with the doc, she asked me questions, I asked her questions and I didn't feel the slightest bit rushed. She got 2 shots and got to meet some other Army babies. The doc did find an ulcer in her throat that she said could be the beginning of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. Hooray. She doesn't have any on her hands or feet but I'm supposed to keep an eye out for them. I figure she probably picked it up at church since that's the only place she goes where other kids are.

15 Month Stats
Weight: 24 lbs 8 oz 75 percentile
Height: 31.5 inches 80 percentile

jmvan74 congrats on having another BOY! I hope your DS feels better soon.

what would you have done? I was at the playground with MIL and niece and nephew (older - 4th and 8th grade). They were pushing DD on the toddler swing. Anothe boy, maybe 7 or 8 came over and started running between the swing and my niece and nephew. I saw a woman sitting on a bench a little bit away reading a book, clueless as to what was going on. I said to him, "please don't do that".

He then asked if he could push DD to my nephew and he said "no that's OK". The kid then started to push the vacant swing next to DD - really wildly and hard. It was too short to reach DD but he was acting crazy (then twisting the swing around and letting it go). I asked him to please stop. He went away and as soon as he was climbing on a structure his mom or babysiter said "please get down". So she notices him climbing but not being wild around a toddler? WTF? MIL said "wow someone is looking for attention". I chose to just tell him to stop, would you have said anything to the woman? I hate confrontation and if he kept going I would have said something but it drives me nuts that she was totally just reading and not paying attention.

sorry for the vent....

Stroller~Hmmmm. I think I may have to get DD one for her babies. She loves to push stuff around but is getting bored of her Pooh ride-on/push toy.

Diedra~Welcome back! Sounds like you had a nice time.

Winter Jacket~I found a cute one this past weekend, but the smallest size was a 2T. :( Last year, MIL bought her a really cute one from ON, so I imagine we'll look there again this year.

tgray~I hope it's not HFM. Poor Aiden!

Alien~That is cool it has worked for her! My DD signs very little. Maybe we could try out the DVDs when we start letting her watch TV! I think you handled the playground situation just fine.

Julie~Congrats on the boy!

Well, DD's bruise is healing nicely!! The bad thing is it's in that really purple, awful looking stage.

The coolest thing happened with Shylah! Last night when I went up to bed, I found her standing in her crib. I thought I was in for a long night, but when I went to put her back down, her diaper was dry. I took her into the bathroom to potty, and she went! :D It took us about 20 minutes to get her back down. Then when I got her this morning, I check her diaper and it was dry! I put her on the potty, and she went again! Yay! I hope tis pattern continues!

Carissa ~ That is great...my fingers are crossed for ya...

Alien ~ That is my one peeve about going to playgrounds... I haven't really had any issues yet, but I know one's just coming. I would have done exactly what you did... (and yeah, I get that people want their kids to learn independent play. BUT playgrounds are for everyone and safety for ALL should be important too)

jmvan ~ Congrats on the boy... and I hear ya on the name thing. We used our ONE boy name for Nic too... so I feel for ya. Good luck!

Coat ~ Last year I got a great one at Gymboree for $12... it was a lil large, but it was terrific (cleaned up really easy, went on easy, etc.) I got it probably halfway through the winter though, because I just bundled him really well in his carrier for the beginning part... I lucked out for this year, cause my friend gave me her son's hand me downs... :)

What is with these children and eating? Nic's favorites change all the time... what he chowed down last night all went on the floor this afternoon. Do I just have a leftovers snob???

I think you did the right thing, however if the boy kept on pushing the swing after you told him to stop I would have taken my DD out of the swing and went to another part of the park and if the boy continued to come near my baby i would have then marched myself right over to her.

Tgr dry diaper and shes going on the potty! Oh man! I am not even trying to think about that yet..LOL

Total dud of a storm, barely anything It's pretty windy today, but that's about it. All that hype for nothing (NOT that I am complaining!) DH and I are both off from work today and home with Sarah but there isn't much we can do cause a lot of places are closed and the weather isn't that great. Plus I think Sarah is getting sick of some sort. She has a rash all over her back, chest and thighs. They are tiny red bumps, plus she has been running low grade fever since last night. The ped. said to put cortizone cream if it looked like she was itching, which it does. She has also had a major loss of appetite. According to the ped., if the bumps become sandpaper-like, it could be a sign of strep. I hope it isn't!

jmvan - Congrats on the boy!

Alien - Sounds like you did the right thing and that mother/babysitter should have been watching him a little more carefully.

tgr - Wow, I am impressed!

Carissa - Hope the transfer comes through.

Coat - Not that I need one for here, but for when we traveled up north last year, I got her a very cute one from The Children's Place.

Sasha: Sarah's rash sounds just like Aidan's. It's on her arm, her trunk and her leg. Our Ped said to put cortisone on the itchy parts and lotion her up at night after her bath and not to bathe her everyday. She thinks it's excema (sp?)

YAY for another boy! Boys rule. (not that I am biased)
We can only have girls from now on since we couldn't agree on any boys names (I really, really reluctantly gave in to name him the same 1st name as DH & FIL after many months/years arguing). We do love a ton of girls names, though. But (duh!) we made DS's middle name our favorite girl name: Ryan. Whoops! I like all the ones you mentioned.

Thomas has ALWAYS loved his mac & cheese with peas & carrots. Today at lunch he picked out alllll the peas and put them in a row to the side. Then pushed them all on the floor. Impressively dextrous? Yes. Funny? No.

Interesting question!
Yesterday I was at the mall and they have this indoor play area that is walled in. It has a "treehouse" and oversized bugs, tree stumps etc for kids to climb on, slide down, etc. The rules are clearly posted all over, the biggest ones are:
- No taller than 42" (about a 4-5 year old's height)
- Parents are responsible for controlling their kids
- No climbing onto the roof of the treehouse
- No jumping off anything
GUESS what was going on?
A ton of lazy parents of kids ages 7-13 (!!!!) let their maniacs run amock. My just-walking 15mo and friend's crawling 12mo were getting trampled. We were calling out to kids "Please stop!" "Watch it - she's just a baby!" "Slow down - you're going to knock him over!". About a half dozen times I had to physically grab a kid from falling, jumping, running straight into Thomas. It was insane.
The crazy part is that the entire periphery of the play area is all benches so parents sit there inside and watch (ha ha ha) their kids. I did not hear a SINGLE OTHER PERSON of the 10-15 parents there EVER ONCE call out to a kid other than me and my friend - and we were only yelling at the other kids!
And let me tell you, the running, jumping, shoving, and top-of-the-lungs screaming they were all doing was completely unacceptable...never mind the fact that we were indoors!
We both even had parents comment on how cute our babies were, comment on how Thomas is clearly newly walking....well, duh if you see that calm your freaking kid down so he stops trampling him! Ugh!
We eventually had to just leave the play area and let them walk around an open sitting area so they would be safe.
So, no, I see no problem with 'parenting' the other kids. If it keeps them and your kid safe, do it.
I find its usually easier to just tell the kid no or whatever than to get the parent involved. If the parent had something to say to be about correcting her kid, I'd just tell them I was concerned about BOTH their safety. How could she be nasty to me about that?

Winter Coat
I am in denial so haven't even thought about it yet. Please stop talking about the upcoming cold weather. Thank you. :D

Alien: I would have done the same thing. There's no need to confront the parent/sitter. What a pain.

Carissa: I hope your DH gets the transfer. Sounds like a great move!

Sasha: Glad the storm fizzled! Sorry there's not much to do today.

He LOVES it and it’s made a difference in my back ache too.

kimthebride I think some parents loose their common sense when out in public. I went to one of those indoor places once and it was the same thing. The parents with bigger kids actually gave us dirty looks when the toddlers were in the way of the bigger kids..

tgray~That is exactly how Shylah's diapers usually are in the morning. This was definately a first!

Names~Okay, we have a boys name picked out in case #2 is a boy - just planning ahead here, not pg! ;) However, DH has a second boys name picked out that I just flat out don't like. He says we could use it as a middle name, but I can't even find something that sounds good with it! OTOH, we have no clue in the event of a second girl. He absolutely hates my first pic.

Sasha~Glad the storm wasn't that bad! Poor Sarah. :( Hope the rash clears up quickly!

Kim~Thomas just laughs at me like "yeah, I crapped my pants and it STINKS. Have fun changing me!". That gave me a good laugh!

Potty Training~It seriously hasn't been that difficult. I just started sitting her on her potty and praising her for staying put. She loves books, so it was helpful to have some sitting near by whe we did this. I can already tell she's going to be one of those people who spends hours in the bathroom reading because she does not want to get off the potty if she has a book in hand!

Biting~This little habit is getting worse and worse. She has either bit or attempting to bite me a good half a dozen times in the last 24 hours! How do I make her stop?!?

Man oh man.... I need a vacation from my family!!!

James continues to sleep poorly. Still getting up ~5AM - he'll sleep more if you hold him but that's a bad habit to start. Except that at 5 AM it doesn't seem that bad. And for the last week or so he's started to get up once a night....probably due to the cold he picked up. With 1st trimester exhaustion, and a babe that isn't sleeping well, I'm BEAT. As I sit and type, he's crying in protest of bedtime.... I'm ready for a new phase!

Poor sleep is making DH a basketcase, especially since his last semester starts next week. A little too much stress around here!

But on a positive note, we made a great discovery! CHOCOLATE MILK! James never took too well to drinking whole milk, but I found that if I add some Hershey's syrup into the milk, he'll almost double his daily intake! Going from 5-6 ounces up to 10-12 ounces feels like a miracle! He also has yogurt, cheese, and calcium-fortified O.J. Small steps....

Sorry, no energy for shout-outs.... Gotta go lay James down (why is it he won't lay himself down in his crib!? He does the butt-plop all the time when he's toddling about, but won't let himself down in his crib. One night he actually fell asleep standing up, and then fell over and bonked his head).

I LOVE the name Ryan for a girl!!!! Here I was thinking I was the only person who ever thought about naming there little girl Ryan..Mt DH loved it as well, but the reason why we didn't name DD that was because thats my DH brothers name.

tgray~We receive the Fisher Price Royal Potty (http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2002&e=demo&selCat=bgpty&pid=31326) as a gift, so that's what I started with. Her great-grandma didn't have a toddler sized potty at their house, so she just put DD on the big potty. By that time though, DD was used to the little one. Now she prefers the adult sized one! :)

Wendy~Hope you are able to get some much needed rest soon!

Disney~I LOVE the name Ryan for a girl!!!! Shylah's middle name - Ryann (pronounced Rye-ANN) - is a name derived from Ryan!

tgray: Share some of those boy names! LOL!

Rancher: Thanks! I had a gut feeling it was another boy, too. I'm really excited to have two little guys running around. At least we'll be able to reuse some of Collin's clothes. ;) We won't be potty training until after the baby comes. That is one stress we don't need yet. :p

Naamah:Are you sticking with the celtic theme for your next baby's name? Sorry about the biting. I wish I had advice for you. If Collin bites (it's rare), I just calmly tell him no biting and redirect him. I read that you shouldn't make a big commotion or it would just reinforce the behavior.

BridalLace: Thanks! :)

Wendstress: I feel for you! I hope you get some sleep soon. I'm saving the "chocolate milk" for after the new baby arrives. If I see any jealousy or anything while I'm nursing....I figure it can be my weapon. :D

I like the name Ryan for a gilr, too, but won't be needing it! LOL! I actually know a woman named Ryan. Love it.

Wendy: I’m sorry things are so stressful right now. I hope James soon remembers how much fun it is to “sleep in” :) Take care of yourself!

Disney: Me too – I love seeing the name ideas. DS will be the one and only.

Jersey Gardens: I’ve totally forgotten about that place. It’s awesome!! I lived in NJ for a little while after college and that was the only place I could afford to shop. I lived near Short Hills Mall but could only go to people watch. Our mall here has an indoor play area but we frequently have the same experience Kim described so we don’t even bother.

Major molar pain here the past few days. He’s cutting one on top and one on the bottom. I figure my molar pain tolerance is about a week before I think things should be easing for him. Does that sound realistic/right?

Tgray - Was there a specific kind of lotion that you use on Aidan? I've been doing the cortisone and Eucerin Cream, plus giving her Children's Benadryl. But the rash is still there. I would hate to not bathe her every day because I feel like I have to get the daycare germs off of her!

Wendy - Sorry about the sleep woes. Do you go into his room immediately when you hear him or maybe give him a little bit to try and re-settle himself?

I think the fever and loss of appetite is teething related, not rash related because her front two teeth have FINALLY come through! LOL, yay, she will finally have 4 teeth. Plus she has her next two top ones on the way, I feel the bumps. But this loss of appetite or refusing most foods thing is driving me crazy. I think we are on our 6th day in a row of eating mac & cheese at one meal.

I love seeing all these names too. Although DH is convinced that our next child will be a girl because between him, his brother and his cousins, not one of them has had a boy, every child they have had is a girl. His grandmother has 11 great-granddaughters! (LOL, no pressure to produce the ONLY boy, ya know? )

Sasha If it is eczema, then you can still bathe everyday. Our ped said it was fine, just make sure the water isn't too hot. We also use Cetaphil cleanser instead of soap since it's less irritating. Also I wash her hair at the end so she isn't sitting in soapy bath water (I use regular Johnsons shampoo). Moisterize immediately after drying her off to seal in the moisture. I use Aquaphor on her but Eucerine should be good too. Also try to dress her in all cotton clothing (pjs too) since it breathes better.

She was so tired that she fell asleep in her high chair at school during lunch. :o Poor baby. To top it off, she has her WBV in about an hour and is getting more shots. If I tried to put her down it was like I was trying to cut off a leg or something. Not fun.

Well, I haven't been around much and I probably won't be around much in the near future either. We were at the hospital Saturday evening when my mom coded, we were told she had a massive stroke, surgery was her only chance and even with it might not make it, or else she had at most 2 to 3 days and would gone. With all of that news my BP went high and I started having contractions. I was sent to ER to be watched and my mom was transferred to another hospital that was about 3 and 1/2 hours away. I wasn't allowed to travel for 8 to 10 hours later.

We later found out on Sunday afternoon/evening that she had an aneurysm and not a massive stroke. The aneurysm burst and they found another one that they were able to coil. Not totally out of the woods just yet but things are definitely looking better. She's taking 20 breaths a minute and hope to remove the vent today or tomorrow.

I'm trying to keep the stress of everything I'm having to deal with at a low level but that isn't easy.

The Mall at Short Hills
So today I ended up at the mall everyone was making fun of :p and it was quite the trip.
We hit the Panera 5 minutes from it and I was sitting in a corner feeding DS while waiting for the friend to come. There was a table to my right with 2 40/50ish year old women and a table in front of me (closer to them) with a woman and her 2 & 5ish year old boys. The 2yo kept throwing his little car (about 2x the size of a Matchbox car) under the table. The he tosses it and it hits my foot, which is behind the 50ish yo woman. I laugh and toss the car to his mom saying "He sure has a good arm!"
What does the 50ish woman do?
She leans back towards me and says "He won't have ANY arm if that thing hits me in the head!".
I always find it charming to threaten little kids, don't you all?

Then at the mall itself, it was me with 15mo DS and friend with 3 week old DD. Her DD was fussy, so she was feeding her, carrying her while pushing the stroller...you know, doing what she could because she's new at this and you never know what a newborn wants. Well....I can't tell you how many people made us walk around them instead of getting out of the way of the strollers or gave their 2 cents in criticizing what she was doing with her kid!
Self-centered aholes, the lot of them.

Want To Get Weepy?
Go back and read over our very 1st May/June thread. I don't know why, but last night I was reading it - I just had Thomas when I met up with you all after you ditched WC - and it was so sweet! There's even pics of some of our wee ones on there, like Thomas & Dougie and they are soooooo little and cute! :D

Kim ~ Ugh! People really are. We were at the mall today too, and man - I usually don't take Nic's stroller with us, cause he doesn't use it anyway, but I was craving a gyro, so we were there for lunch... my sister was with us, but still... we had a lot of baggage, a stroller, a baby who was NOT in said stroller... you'd think childless, walking, lightly loaded if at all people would GET OUT OF OUR WAY...Umm, nope. And don't even get me started on said people using the elevator! (Esp when they cut off TWO ladies with strollers who were both waiting BEFORE them, just off to the side so that the people with strollers INSIDE the elevator could get off...ugh - what's wrong with the escalator three steps away?) Grrrr....

Names: My girl list even longer! If anyone's interested, I can post it too! :D The way we weed through them is I make the list and give it to Ryan, he reads through and highlights which ones he likes, I highlight which ones I like and then we mull over them, veto ones from each others faves and then match them up with our chosen middle names and last name. Then we do the yell test, we yell the full name like "Aidan Christine!" and see how it flows. Then we just discuss the finalists and decide which one we really like the best. I had more input last time so Ryan gets more input this time.

USAFwife: Oh gosh, I am so sorry to hear about everything. Please take care of yourself, it's a long way to February!

Rude Mall People: I HATE going to crowded places with Aidan. I never take her in the umbrella stroller because I feel like she's so exposed and we lead with her. I always put her in the Graco stroller because it seems like she's more protected. That said, I was in the commissary yesterday, picking up some stuff. I was only getting a few things and I needed to go into the PX to get a check cashed so I put her in the umbrella stroller and we went in. Of course, the items I wanted weighed a ton (dishwashing soap, milk, juice, etc) and I was struggling with the hand basket and her stroller. Did anyone help me? No. An old couple saw me struggling and cut in front of me in line! I now have a horrible looking bruise on my arm from the handles on the basket that probably weighed 20 pounds. Thanks.

Abbey is back from her WBV. Poor baby, I think she's traumatized more by the measuerment-taking than the shots. Plus she has a bad mommy who forgot to bring food and water, so she cried all the way home in rush hour traffic. Way to go Mom.

15-month Stats
Height: 32 inches, 90%
Weight: 23 lbs 2oz 60% (this dropped from 75% at 12 mos, but doc says that's ok)
Head: 48 cm 95%

Still long and noodle-ey with a big noggin. Reminds me of "So I Married An Axe Murderer" when the dad says his kid's head is like an orange on a toothpick! :) (I can say that, I'm her mom, lol!)

usawife- Prayers for you and your family! I am really hoping your mom gets better soon and that you don't have any more scares with Baby #2.

Tara- I don't remember you having that many names when you named Aidan. It seems like you picked her name early on, right?

Rude People- I usually say something loud like "THANKS FOR HOLDING THE DOOR OPEN!!" But then again, I'm pretty passive-agressive. :p Actually, Abbey and I were at Tarjay last week and this woman refused to move out of our way. I asked nicely (I'm a nice person!) and she didn't move. Finally I said (nicely) "I'm sorry, but I think we're going to run over your toes if you don't back up a little more." She still didn't move, so I ran over her toes. It felt great!!!! :D

Julie~Yep! We want all Celtic names for our kids! The tough thing with the biting is she does it out of anger - like if I take something from her or if I go to pick her up when she is tantruming in the middle of the store. Today, I tried to ignore or tell her "no" calmly and distract her, but after five "I'm ticked at you" biting attempts, I finally just had to swat her. :( I hate doing that, but she didn't try to bite me for the rest of the day. Redirecting just hasn't seemed to work on this nasty little habit.

Sasha~LOL! Same way here. There are 4 great-grandchildren on my dad's side of the family - all girls. (I'm the oldest of the grandkids at 25, so none of the parents are very old yet.)

Carissa~Names If we ever have another girl her name will be Kerith. Ooh! That's pretty! What the origin, meaning, etc.? Don't worry. I won't "steal" it. ;)

tgray~That is quite a list! As far as books go, I only used one - Potty Training Your Baby by Katie Warren (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0757001807.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg). She recommends starting the potty training process as soon as baby can sit on their own, but she has a section of the book for starting during the toddler years.

Ally~tgr did she get anything new? Huh? I'm confused.

Kim~....I can't tell you how many people made us walk around them instead of getting out of the way of the strollers Grrr! I hate it when ppl do this. And then I love when they glare because you don't move fast enough for them!

More Kids~Yep! DH and I hope to have 3.

We went shopping all friggin' day with MIL! I am so tired!! On the upside we did get DD a new fall outfit, a 18 month sleeper, a new shirt (since she spits up on the other one out of the blue), a cardigan for fall/winter, and 2 new pairs of shoes. Of course we went to the mall to pick up Sunday School curriculum and to Sam's to pick up kitty litter! :p

Kim ~ Sorry about the rude people and comments. I've gotten them myself as well. Last summer/early fall we would walk around the local park in the evening. My mom and I would have to stop walking, get off the sidewalk with the big stroller so they didn't have to stop or get over. It would make me so mad. I finally made a comment one night after I'd had enough of having to get over and them never getting over. They made a comment about nearly tipping the stroller over and I said that if they would kindly get over that I wouldn't have to nearly knock my daughter out of the stroller. We've had the rude comments at other times over the past 14 months. And I hate when people come up to us and start touching her hands or face. That's nice that they like our DD but I don't know when they washed their hands last or where their hands were at just prior to touching my DD. I don't need her to get sick. I've got enough things to worry about right now, thank you very much.

Carissa, Disney, Kim, Julie, happy1, Tara, Alicia ~ Thanks. I've decided that me being pregnant must mean we have to have something bad happen. When I was pregnant with my DD we lost my FIL very expectedly and now this. I've almost decided that we are done having children as I know I can't go through another event like this while being pregnant. To top things off my dad's health is very bad and could lose him within the next year.

I know have to think/worry if DH and I are at an increased risk for having an aneurysm ourselves now that my mom has had two, my grandma had a stomach aneurysm that never ruptured, and DH's mom passed away from a brain aneurysm in her sleep.

More kids ~ Right now I am not sure. I have had two pregnancies that resulted in bad things happening (see above) and I'm not sure that I want to have that happen again. If we do have another one we will wait a few years after this one is born (i.e. at least 3). I can't deal with a toddler and be so sick a second time.

Meri: Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing a safe recovery for your mother and a calm, healthy remainder of your pregnancy.

Up since 2:30 a.m. with DS who is blowing out his colon! I don't know what the heck is going on by holy moley it's non-stop. I'm actually at work to do two things that are needed today then going home. Poor DH took today off in anticipation of a day to himself to do nothing and now he's taking care of DS while I'm here. I'm going to ship him to his parents when I get home -- I can manage the tyke and he can get his RnR (he's just coming off of a stomach bug too). Must call the ped when they open at 9.

I hope everyone has a good holiday weekend!

usafwife - I am so sorry to hear about your mom. It seems like you and your family have had to deal with so much, I hope you guys get through this as well.

tgray - I bought that Aveeno stuff last night, thanks for the suggestion. And wow, that is an impressive list!

Kim - I am so right there with you with weird injuries. A physical therapist friend of mine looked at my knee (from my fall with Sarah) and he thought I may have cracked my knee cap! Let me tell you how much fun it is carrying 24 pounds of toddler on a bum knee.

Memo - Made its way to our house too last night. She woke up at 4am and it was rough from then on. Damn teething . I am going to need a frappacino today to make it through work!

Rude people - One of my biggest pet peeves is people who don't open the door for you when they see you coming with a stroller. I usually will say something to myself, just loud enough for them to hear. ;) And DH hates people at the mall who don't get out of the way. LOL, he is a madman when he drives the stroller at the mall, poor Sarah gets zigged and zagged all over the place as he tries to avoid people who don't move. There is one huge outlet mall near me that attracts a ton of foreigners, who have a tendency to just stand and block the entire walkway. So rude.

Meri~I used to dread my birthday for the same reasons you don't like being pg. Every year for probably 4-5 years in a row I would get horrible news the day before my birthday. One year, I had a good friend die. The next, my favorite teacher announced she had cancer. :( Just stuff like that. I hope your luck turns for the better with each pgcy. Praying that nothing else bad happens in your family!

psusna~Ugh! Hope DS starts feeling better!

Rude People~I had forgotten about one of my most frustrating experiences until just now. I had a grocery store attendant not even offer to help me out when it was just DD and me. DH was ticked! He ended up calling the store manager to complain. :D

Tara- I don't remember you having that many names when you named Aidan. It seems like you picked her name early on, right?

Nope, I started putting the list together not too long after Aidan was born. We did pick her name early...like before Christmas. I like having things decided on as far ahead of time as possible.

tgr68: Ok, I'll have to check that book out. Thanks!

Sasha: I hope the lotion works well for you.

Sorry I haven't been around ladies! I've been dealing with some family stuff.

I plan to go back and try to catch up as soon as I get a spare minute :)

Quick question re: Constipation. Is anyone dealing with this right now??
Poor Jack has been having some trouble with it lately. No idea why! When he has to go he'll clench the side of a chair or the couch and he cries as it comes out. Poor thing. And when I change him it's like little round pellets in there. Anything I can do to help him out??

Kgif Are you giving him a lot of binding foods like bananas or rice? make sure he is getting enough water thought the day. If it gets really bad-I would get some prunes and mix it with oatmeal or something

KGif

Bananas and Rice
No not really giving him either. He likes those freeze dried fruits by Gerber and sometimes eats the Banana/Pineapple mix but it's rare that we give him that.

I was reading online Dairy can bind him up too? I think we might be giving him too much milk?? He's still getting about 24 ounces a day or so.

We had the same thing here. I was told to try the following things in this order:
First - Pear Juice - for 3-5 days
Then if Pear didn't work (which it didn't) - Prune Juice - for 3-5 days
That didn't work either and the Ped put her on mineral oil. That Worked! I was giving her 3 teaspoons (or 1 tablespoon). That worked but soon became too much - she's down to 1 tsp. per night and I'm hoping to reduce that to half then take her off completely.

Naamah It comes from the Biblical body of water the Cherith river on the eastern side of the Jordan river during Elijah's time when he was fleeing from King Ahab. Kerith is the Hebrew version. If you happen to pick up the Book "Bible Names for your Baby" by Joy and Paul Gardner it has a lot of information on the name.

usafwife oh goodness, I hope your mom gets well soon and please take care of yourself as well!

rude people actually *lately* a lot of people have been holding the door open for DD and I w/ the stroller - very nice! But I did have an incident w/ an old lady last week. I was pushing the stroller and trying to get through a narrow area. She was looking at some stuff and I said "excuse me" well she didn't budge, I said it again and she shuffled over like and inch so by accident I *brushed* her foot w/ the stroller. I apologized and left. She saw me in further in the store and said " you ran into my foot" (all mean and nasty), I prompty said "well I said I was sorry, what more do you want me to do" which I guess negated my original apology.

Anyway people walk around like they are the only people around. So annoying.

Several years ago I held a door open for a very well dressed older lady. When she didn't say "thank you", I said, "you're welcome". She had the nerve to say, "well, I didn't ask you to hold the door for me". I couldn't believe it. What a b!tch!

psusna I hope DS feels better soon!

Thanks for the get well wishes for the J-Man. He's been asleep for 2 hours so he'll soon be up. Ped has had a bunch of calls w/the same symptoms today so we'll ride it out this weekend. He is also teething hard today, he's just a mess!

Rude people: There was an entire blog on the Atlanta newspaper site the other week about low tolerance of parents and kids in public places. Many of the posts angered me to the point of rage -- stuff like kids should be kept home until they have manners and know how to act, parents can't control kids and are selfish for having kids, etc. It was awful!! I couldn't believe my eyes. We've only had a few incidents, nothing too major. Whew!

Names: This name talk is such an interesting, cheery discussion. I love it!

So I'm starting to scout Christmas presents for DS. Does anyone have or know anything about Fisher Price Pop-Ons? Takes MegaBlocks or Leggo in a different direction -- kind of like oversized popbeads (rememebr those?!) that are people, etc and they have different shapes, items, etc. Just curious if anyone has seen them up close.

wow you are good! I have seen those Pop Ons at TRU but only in the box. They look interesting/fun but I've never seen them being used at someone's house or anything. I wonder how long they've been around.

I think I'm going to get DD a little table and chair set for Xmas and maybe a doll stroller (like kimthebride posted. Oh I guess I have been *thinking* about Christmas!

Just a quick note. Poor Abbey is having a reaction to her shots. I'm guessing it's the Pox vax b/c she's had the other 2 before w/o an issue. She has a fever of 101.7 and is just generally not very happy. So I'm "working" from home on my 3rd day when I really should be in the office learning the ropes. Oh well. Good thing everyone in my new office has children and understands. :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Landon's first big BOO BOO!!!

Just got back from the oral surgery office. Earlier, Landon was getting off the couch, like he does a million times a day and lost his footing and fell face first. I was right there (of course), it wasn't even a hard fall, but as soon as I picked him up, there was blood everywhere. I freaked, just like I knew I would. Thank goodness dh was home from lunch, not that he was much better than me, at first I thought he knocked some teeth out, but no, he just bit a HOLE through his lip!!! Great! Blood is just dripping out of his mouth, I try and clean him up as best as possible to survey the damage a little more, he stopped crying as soon as I calmed down (go figure!). We were headed to the ER, when I paused and though, hello, my mother works at an oral surg. office, duh! So I called her and she said bring him right in, no waiting, got right in and one of the surgeons checked him out, cleaned it up and put dermabond and we're good as new. I gave him some tylenol and now he's napping. His poor little lip is just sticking out there, it's SOOO sad looking. Seriously though, dh and I really need to get a better handle on things when stuff like this happens!!!

So, nice start to the holiday weekend for us!

alicia: Poor Abbey, I hope she's feeling better soon. I'm soo dreading our appt. next week. Not only is he cutting two more teeth (who knew the child had two more to cut????) but shots on top of that! Not my idea of a good time.

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!!!

rancherswife ~ Ohhh, poor landon. I hope he feels better soon!

Kgif ~ Constipation... We know it well, unfortunately. Pears, prunes, peaches and plums. Those are all really good fruits to serve often. :) Lots of water. I try to avoid juice too much, so I usually try to rely on the fruits (apple juice is good for constipation, apples/apple sauce is bad... I didn't know that til Nic had issues and forget why exactly that is)... I also limit grains/dairy when it gets bad... Nic's actually taking lactulose for it, but we are weaning off of it. This week he's only getting 1/4 tsp, woohoo!!! Good luck, its a tough thing to deal with...

Constipation
I'd imagine 24oz milk a day would be rather binding!
I found when I was transitioning DS to milk I was so focused on that, I wasn't giving enough water (duh! some days NONE!). So once I upped his water intake he was sooooo much better.
I also give him lots of fruit with all 3 meals. No more Cocoa Puff poops. ;)

Boo Boos
OMG when it rains, it pours around here!
Thank goodness for Dermabond, huh? Hope everyone's wee ones are doing okay!

ahavnes
Sorry Abby's reaccting to the shots. Hope she feels better soon!

Sasha
OMG I can't believe it may be cracked - yikes! How the heck do you fix that?

Okay, Who Brought Up Xmas?
I am so not thinking of this, because I hope we are moved/moving to a house by then. So the whole thing is completely up in the air.
Plus, we usually spend a weekend in MA at my parents the weekend before the holiday.
Then we spend the week in Chicago at my ILs for the actual weekend.
But my ILs have their 40th anniversary on Xmas Eve and MIL turns 60 on New Years Day so they also be planning a party out there that even if we are moving hosue we have to go in for anyway. AAAAK.
So I am in denial.

Rude People
I will say this though: I like to point out when someone is as a-hole. I think its good for them to know and improve on themselves. ;) I am big and unavoidable, so when someone does something rude to my kid, I make sure they know in a passive-agressive way. Like the morons who screamed at me and my almost-sleeping son at the mall from about 200 YARDS away to HOLD THE ELEVATOR!! Then waddled slower than mud up a hill while I stood there holding the dinging-alarmed door. Not only did they not say Thank You they let their clearly-over-sugared maniacal children scream and wake DS up. (The 6yo actually threatened to "murder" the 8yo and none of the parents said anyhting!)
So I made sure to let the mom know he "was" sleeping and say "You're welcome" to the rude grandmother who was the one who screamed at me. She made a nasty face at me, so I just shook my head, rolled my eyes, laughed and walked the other direction.

Kim Where you looking to move to? I hope the move happend fast as I know you can't wait to get out of where you are.

Within a 30 minute radius of where we live now.

You know, I really do think most 1 (or even 2) kid families could happily live in our apartment. Its just our needs, our visiting families, our lifestyle demand something different. I am *so ready* to have my own bedroom, a yard, and no longer deal with a Building Committee!!

I have found one house we'd love and a couple other reallyy good ones, so I bet if our place was already on the market and getting interest we'd be in a good place to be moved in by Xmas. However...that's unfortunately not the case yet between us all getting sick then going away then the carpeting fiasco then the crazy flooring pricing...UGH.

WHEW! I just read 25 pages to catch up after being without internet for over a week. Lots going on around here!

First, let me say thank you so much for all of the support on the miscarriage. I'm feeling ok; my DH wants to try again right away, but I'm not so sure.

So sorry to all the babies with boo boos and illnesses!!! And to the mommas too!

usafwife- Please take care of yourself and I hope your mother continues to improve.

Well, we're all moved! I love it here- the only problems have been the constant rain and the fact that DH had a car accident on his third day of work. He's fine, but the car will be in the shop for a while. We did rent a car so I'll be practicing my driving in that. Hey- maybe it's a good thing considering I haven't driven in about 7 years!
I am enjoying being a SAHM and I may not need to get a job for a little while longer than I first thought. And I'm still kicking the idea of going back to school for my teaching certification.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!
