Dropping off 15mo WBV stats

Weight: 29lbs (95%)
Height: 34.5" (off the chart)
Head: 19 3/4" (off the chart)

He has grown 3.5 inches in 3 months and gained 2lbs. When does the growth spurt stop?!?!?

ETA: Thanks for the breakfast ideas -- I think I'm set. As for lunches Sasha, he eats what the school serves. The only thing he doesn't eat is ham and cheese sandwich.

Trgay: Welcome to Georgia!

Thanks girls! :) I'm just hoping Abs does ok in daycare. She went full time when I worked in SF, but she was little so I'm sure she doesn't remember. She's pretty attached to her mama lately. :o Although she didn't cry when I left her at the gym daycare on Friday...a first!

Alicia ~ The job sounds sweet!! Congrats!!

Gift buying ~ I do all the gift buying - and sometimes I even buy my own from dh -- unless its a Home Depot gift card, that one is all DH (but I HATE giving gift cards, so we only do that when all else fails) ... I'm really bad at cards, although since I've learned that it is part of dh's family's Christmas "tradition" I guess I'll be getting better at it... :) (lil vent... dh and I have been together since 1999 ... I learned about their card tradition about TWO MONTHS ago... hmmm.... actually, if you'd asked me before that conversation, I would say that they didnt really have any traditions... I guess everyone defines tradition differently )

Congrats Jennylou, very exciting!

Alicia - Sounds like you got a great gig!

Eating - My son has always been a great eater and tonight was just WWll and he went to bed one cranky little boy. I feel awful but refuse to give in and give him cheese and bread. Going to check out the eating thread as I need some way to get veggies in him!

talking anyone's kid babble all the time? Aiden says words but he will "talk" like he is telling a story for 10 minutes-stopping eveyone once in a while to use hand gestures!! Anyone else's kid to this?? It is too funny

ahavnes
08-13-2006, 07:21 PM
Babbling- Yes! Abbey does the same thing Ally. She often does it when talking into her phone, complete with hand gestures, which cracks me up. I wonder where she learned that??? ;)

psusna
08-14-2006, 05:32 AM
Babbling: Yes! Jackson does the same thing. He does the phone thing to, especially in the car. Babble, babble, LAUGH!!, babble... :)

I also noticed the start of pretend play with his Little People bus driver and his puppy this weekend.

kimthebride
08-14-2006, 05:58 AM
Babbling
He's got a LOT to say, and the hand gestures to emphasize the important points. :p Gee, not like mom at all......

New Play
He's into pushing his big truck around and putting "passengers" into it (a Duplo block, teething ring, whatever) in the front seat.

AARARRRRHHHGGGGHH
Let me just use bullets:
He is getting the bottom molars on both sides, sloooowly
He has a viral infection, meaning snot snot everywhere (as do I, apparently)
I have not had an un-interrupted night of sleep in I literally can't remember now....
We leave Wednesday for a 5-day trip to the IL's, and I am completely unmotivated and unprepared. It looks like every single ady DH has a sporting event to go to with someone (golfing on THursday & Friday, football game Fri night that he insists on taking DS to - HA that'll be fu  , PGA tournament Sat & Sun) which means I will be - YET AGAIN - the sole caregiver of DS
Thus, I am cranky

wendstress
08-14-2006, 07:09 AM
Babbling - Yup. He always has! I Love it. Often with one raised eyebrow to accentuate his position. He does some hand gestures, too.

New Play - Just with things he thinks he shouldn't! :D I'll have to start leaving his toys in hard to reach places, so when he gets one he thinks he shouldn't have it!

His biggest thing is continually putting things in other things. Doesn't matter what... If he can make them fit together, he's happy. Case-in-point: a few weeks ago he was playing with the dogs toys . He put a chew stick through a bone and looked at me and started waving it around with total pride and sense of accomplishment.

Sleep - better this weekend, because I enforced a 1 nap/day policy. He slept solidly until 6:30 this morning and woke up HAPPY!

For whatever reason, DH believes James still need 2 naps/day. I think this is a big part of the problem when he's been waking up at 5 AM every morning. The other problem is that Jon has been giving in and holding him during naps (we all know how bad this is, and so does DH but he does it anyway!).... So naps and bedtime have turned into an all out world war. PLUS - James LOVES standing in his crib but he won't get himself back down.... So last night at 3 AM he was crying...I went in laid him down and then we all went back to sleep.

Gifts - Mostly me. Although several times for the Christmas season, we've both taken a day off work to go shopping together. Outside of this, it's all me. Although he does do a darned nice job at shopping for me!

jmvan74
08-14-2006, 07:24 AM
Gifts: I do all of the gift shopping around here. If I didn't, no one would get anything!

babbling: We have tons of that. Collin is a little jabberjaw! He talks all day long! :p

Kim: Sorry Thomas is going through so much right now. I hope you are able to get prepared for your trip and are able to relax a bit.

Wendstress, that is a great idea to put the toys almost out of reach, so they are more tempting! LOL!;)

Edit because I can't spell

Kim you are going to your ILs AGAIN!! Good god lady. Did you see them twice already!

rancherswife
08-14-2006, 07:54 AM
babbling: Yes. lots of babbling, and then HUGE head nods, I think he's making sure whoever he's talking to, agrees 100%!

kim: I'm sorry you're so stressed. Ummm...I could be way off and maybe they do, but why don't then IL's take Thomas for a day and give you time to yourself? Especially since they don't live that close, I would just think they'd want to "babysit" him while they had the opportunity. Sorry, I just feel for you. It's hard enough getting yourself, dh and a baby prepared for a trip, and then to know once you get to hte destination, it's not even a vacation for you, at all. Hang in there!

we have very talkitive busy babies

uhhh..yeah, w/ an emphasis on BUSY!!! ;)

Gifts~I make DH go with me, mostly because I never know what to get for his family. He usually complains at first, but enjoys himself once we get to the store!

Talking/Babbling~Yep!! All the time! Just this morning, I was reading a book to her in which one of the characters names are "Bobo". After about the 4th time reading it, she starting pointing to every page the character was on and saying "Bobo"!

New Play~Does opening DH's desk and throwing the envelopes all over count? :p Maybe I should follow wendstress's suggestion and starting putting her toys in there!

Kim~Love the new signature!! Hope you and Thomas get to feeling better and get some sleep!

Wendstress~DH will do the same thing at nap time. He insists that DD won't sleep unless he rocks her, never mind that it usualy takes 2-3 times as long to get her to fall asleep that way.

Sasha
08-14-2006, 08:27 AM
Babbling - All the time, especially into the phone. She has a lot to say!

New Play - Same exact thing as Kim wrote. She is always putting blocks or other toys onto her princess push/ride along car and pushing them around the house.

Kim - I'm going out of town this week too and can so relate. I second Rancherswife's idea of asking your ILs to watch Thomas for a bit so you can have some "me" time.

Someone please tell me if this is normal! Sarah is (finally) getting her two upper front teeth in, but instead of feeling bumps on the bottom of her gums, I feel two huge ones on the front. It feels like they are going to burst out of the front side of her gums rather than the bottom. Obviously I'm going to ask the pediatrician about it next week at her appt., but thought I'd ask you "experts" ;) as well.

alienhost
08-14-2006, 08:40 AM
babbling oh yes, I'd love to know what she is trying to "say". She loves to babble while looking through her books or talk to us.

playing she also loves putting things in other things. Blocks in the bucket, Little People animals in the Ark etc. She will take them out one by one and then put them back in and take them out again etc. She loves taking her LP farm animals and making the animal sound while shaking them or bang them on the table. The other day it was "baaa baaa" "neigh neigh". Too funny.

recognizing books/songs I was watching her "read" her "Five Little Monkeys" book the other day and she would put her hand on her head (when they bumped their head) and wag her pointer finger at the for "no more monkey's jumping on the bed". Then the song came on the CD and she would do the same as they got to each part of the song. Very entertaining!

ahavnes congrats on the sweet new job!

kimthebride I'm sorry that Dh is leaving you high and dry at the ILs! Yikes! Definitely get them to babysit, even if you just go for a walk or shopping.

teeth Sasha, I have no idea, I'm sure it is fine though.

GiftsUsually it is me picking out the gift for both families, but we have started to do a lot of on-line shopping together. IL's have been requesting "no-gifts" and make a donation to their favorite charity. We have done that, but I feel awckward when we get gifts and they don't.

BabblingDD is a non stop babbler. We have not heard any true words from her. She will babble and wave those little arms, it is so cute.

New playSarah has been doing this for weeks, taking items out of draws, cabinets, ect. and putting her toys in. Today she was taking laundry out of a baskets, but did not have toys to put.

CongratulationsTo all the RO. We are not planning on trying for #2 until DD is 2, so am a little scared to come visit the thread, is it something in the words we write here?;)

I have been missing for a long time for many reasons. DD has not been giving me long naps for me to get anything done. I think we finally figured out a schedule so that I can get things done during her nap schedule, but that will soon change again because I start a new job on Wednesday. I will be working 30 hours a week and eventually DD will be able to attend the child care that is right across the parking lot. I have also felt so ackward with a 14 month old who has been learning and doing things at her own pace, feelin g like she was really behind.

DD finally has one tooth. Her right front tooth came in the day before we flew to Oregon for a family reunion. Sarah also started crawling the week we were in Oregon. On Friday she pulled up to stand by herself. This has all happened in a three week time span. No, wonder I am tired. Do the developmental delays every slow down?

New Play ~ Nic loves this too. We keep his toys in this http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000CSPO1A.16._SCLZZZZZZZ_SS260_V54733586_.jpg
storage unit, and we'll take down a bin at a time for him to play with. He LOVES taking the toys out one by one and then putting them back... cleanup takes way longer now that he helps, but heloves it... and i think its good training for llater :) However, I no longer fold laundry when he's around...

Chattering ~ Oh yea. He doesn't really have any words, but he chatters ALL.THE.TIME. Hilarious. Will do this as he flips through books too...histerical.

Molars Oh god, I really, really, really, hate molars. I think DS does too. This mofo is taking its sweet time getting out. Oh, and it's brother is making a grand entrance on the other side now. The only way I can inspect is when we brush teeth.

Sasha That's totally how I remember DS's teeth coming in. I remember think it looked and felt weird and it took longer to come in than the top.

Play Lots of babble and pointing. My fav is holding the phone to the back of his head. He's saying a lot but he's kind of stuck on the 'Da' sound, so everything sounds the same. Totally into anything with wheels and sorting shapes, and taking things out and in, and throwing. Really into throwing.

After 2 solid days alone with though, I realized that he's not that into toys. He'll play for awhile but everyday objects hold his attention much longer. I don't know if it's because we have only a few toys and he's played with them forever and haven't bought much since his birthday. I even tried distracting from molar pain by playing some Baby Einstein DVDs. What is up with those? Am I the only one who thinks they are trippy? DS was really not into them.

I'm going to seperate some of the toys out and begin rotating them in and out. I am also going sell a bunch a baby gear that we don't need or will get new versions if and when we have another child.

ETA - happy1nuv We have the same shelf and we LOVE it!

Babbling All the time, lately though she has been adding words into it like Dh taught her last night to say touchdown with her hands up.

Kim I hope things get better.

gifts the only time Eric shops is when I am with him so I pretty much do everything.

Sesame Street has a new character named Abby Cadabby!! This is so funny b/c we call Abs that sometimes. I saw her on the Today Show this morning and she is adorable. Ofcourse, I have to go see if I can order a doll of her or something. :)

Play- Abbey also loves putting things inside of other things. She likes doing it with everyday objects better than her toys though (water bottles, pans, etc.)

Molars- We're dealing with this too, on the top and bottom. Abbey also seems to have allergies, so half the time I can't decide whether to give her Benadryl or Tylenol or nothing.

Recognizing books- Abbey loves to read. Her new favorite is a book with pictures of babies in it (my mother gave it to me while I was preggo). She picks it up and says "bebe, bebe" while crawling around with it. It's too funny.

Speaking of, Abbey can spot another kid a mile away. This saturday she was screaming "bebe, bebe" while we were at the pool, but Scott and I didn't see anyone. Finally we looked inside the clubhouse and sure enough, barely visible was a toddler. She has eagle eyes! :p

Christy- Welcome back! Congrats on the crawling and standing, although I agree that the developmental leaps are exhausting. :o

Kim- Umm, yeah. You totally need a break while you're on your "vacation."

sasha: I remember when Landon was getting his front teeth, I freaked when I saw the bumps coming from the FRONT of his gums. My mom works for an oral sugery office and I immediately asked if they were going to grow sticking straight out. They got a kick out of my question. No worries, Landon's teeth grew in normally. Not sure what the deal is w/ the bumps on front. It's normal though. ;)

Molars: they are just lovely, aren't they? Brody popped out one of those and one of his canines this weekend! I'm surprised he was in pretty good moods the whole time.

We have not heard any true words from her. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Brody says "achoo", babbles a lot and 'talks' to other kids in his own secret language, but hasn't gotten other words yet.

Recognizing books--we still love to read this one Baby Einstein book to him that has mirrors in it. The one page has "peekaboo Violet" and before we even read it to him, he's covering his eyes with his hands to play peekabo. Also, he loves loves planes, and if we're outside, he's the first to hear an airplane and usually the first to find it in the sky, even if it's far away.

christy and ahavnes--congrats on the new jobs!

Nikki is finally walking really good now! YAHOO!

Babbling Oh yeah she does this very often and she quit loud too. Sometimes I swear she is telling us off in her language.

As for me I am thinking about joining CURVES just to get out of the house a little bit each day and to help me loss a few needed LBS. I am starting to go crazy and could really use some time alone and a 30 min workout seems to me my answer. Where I am not away for too long but long enough to enjoy myself a few times a week.

Disney & Tgr: SO Cute!!

Books: Books are his favorite "toys". Any book with a puppy or flap or any of the "Happy Baby" books. Our coffee table is covered in them.

Play: LOVES the dishwasher. Can unload it, can start it, can work it like he's been doing it for years. I need to start putting only his plastic utensils in the silverware holder so he's not grabbing grungy stuff.

Molars: Can we join this fun party? We are getting one on the top, and he screams like you are ripping his ears off. Great. He's always been a horrid teether, but I've gotten adjusted to no teething for the last few months. I'm spoiled.

tgr - So cute!

Disney - We took Sarah to the beach this weekend too. Looks like Nikki enjoyed herself! Did you ever end up doing to Phila. Zoo?

Cynder and Rancherwife - Thank you for the teething reassurance. LOL Rancherswife about you asking your mom's office because I was at the dentist yesterday and asked them the same thing. :p

Alicia - Is that the Baby Faces books you are talking about? My SIL gave us a bunch of those too and Sarah loves pointing out the babies.

Books - Loves flipping through and "reading" them. More than anything, she loves her Elmo book. Is it wrong that I am starting to get jealous of this red fury monster? She says "Mo-mo" way more than she ever says "mama." ;) She will flip through the book and point to him on every page, squealing with delight "mo-mo!!" She points him out on her diaper, she dances with the the Hokie Pokie Elmo doll. We joke that it's like, "marry me, mo-mo!" Obsessed I tell you with the Elmo book and all things "mo-mo."

Tgr68 and Disneygirl very cute!

christy welcome back and try not to feel awkward about how your DD is progressing. It's hard to see others who have younger DC do things sooner, trust me I understand how you feel. DD was a late crawler, "stander", cruiser and at almost 16 months we are still working on independent walking. It all comes in time, and sometimes all at once as you have experienced!

Sasha We went to the Bronx Zoo instead on Sunday and Nikki seemed to like it. She was looking at all the amimals, waving and trying to talk to them, but after about hr or so she seemed to no longer be interested. I think that was only because she can not sit still for to long. She has to always be doing something.

Disneygirl Cute picture!

Naamah How cute!

Books Oh yes Grace loves books she also loves to flip through my parenting magazine and look at all the kids :)

Lately Grace has picked up on her vocabulary skills. All the sudden this week she has started to say words. I think it has to do with pre season football starting and dh getting excited about that, he taught her to say touchdown this week she'll raise her arms and say "down" it's pretty cute. She also just recently started saying mama when she is upset, that is the ONLY time I hear it for everything else it's daddy.

Abbey is at her first day at her new daycare right now. It feels so weird to be home alone. I seriously don't think I have been home alone since we moved here 6 months ago. :o There was a lot of crying when I left, but I feel she'll be fine. Besides, she has 2 weeks to get accustomed to it before I start work on the 28th, and she's only there for 4 hours a day. :)

Mama- I have just now sstarted getting "mama" when Abbey is happy to see me. Before it was only when she was upset or wanted to be picked up.

tgr68- Abbey says "Duh Duh" also when she sees Dora. :) Adorable pics by the way.

Disney- Ah! What a cute picture! Makes me want to take a tropical vacay with Abbey and DH. :)

Sasha- I'm not sure what the book is called. I think it's just called "Babies." It came from the Hallmark store. :)

Disney and Tgr68Cute, cute, cute!!

Books ~ Nic loves to read and can identify some of his favorites when we tell him to go get a particular favorite one... The Lorax, Fox in Socks, ABC's (can you tell we're seuss fans?), a first words dictionary, and Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp... :)

mama ~ Well, Nic FINALLY said this one... BUT he'll only say it for daddy when I'm not around. DH had to take Nic around the corner so I could hear it too...

Nic woke up last night at 9:30 and WOULD NOT go back to sleep. He just kept shrieking...I finally took him downstairs, turned on a sesame street cd, and rocked him in the recliner... it was a BAD night. Tonight we gave him motrin, which I hate doing, but I need the sleep (bad mommy, I know...) We'll see how it goes... speaking of which, I'm a going to bed. Good night!!!

books: Oh, this is Landon's FAVORITE thing to do right now. Sit in our laps or on the floor, or in the rocking chair and "read" or have us read to him. It's so cute. He's got his favorite books too. Right now, it's the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Dh and I both have it memorized! ;)

mama: He took forever to say it, but he's been saying it for a few months now. Usually when he wants something, never just to greet me.

alicia: Glad to hear daycare went OK this morning, I think it's normal for them to cry when you drop them off at a new place. I'm sure she was fine after you left.

happy1: Hope you have a better night tonight!

I'm waiting for dh to get back w/ an ice cream for me :), so I can settle in and watch Miss Teen USA, CORNY, I know, I'm so ready for the Fall shows to start back up!

books He loves books! Especially ones with truck or fish in them. He'll just sit on the floor "reading" the same book over and over again!

Mama He says it sometimes, but it's usually "daa dee". He calls me that as well as my dad.

The other day we were blowing bubbles at my parents house and I told Dougie to "pop, pop, the bubbles" and he pointed at my dad (who we call Pa) and ran over to him saying "pa pa". Close enough!! :)

Christy: Good luck with the new job today. :)

Alicia: I'm glad the first day of DC wasn't too bad.

Happy: I hope last night went better for you.

Mama: Collin says it, but not directed toward me. He usually is running around singing NaaNaaa na.

Bronchiolitis: Collin has infant bronchitis. It's viral and so stressful. His cough has been awful and we started him on a nebulizer yesterday. Luckily, he's been pretty cooperative about it and is already sounding better. DH said....maybe we should go back to Breast Milk! LOL! Ummm...no. :D

Books
Thomas is all about the lift-the-flap books now. He will literally spend 20 minutes siting quietly with one book flipping, turning pages, going back and forth.

Wish Us Luck
So we have a flight tonight to the IL's at 8:45pm. I am now printing scanned copies of DS's birth certificate & social security card so i have zero problems bringing his prescription medicine for the viral infection he (and DH & I!) has. I just don't trust the airline not to lose our luggage with all the craziness going on right now, and WILL NOT pack his Rx and take the chance.
I have to admit I am not looking forward to this trip. I am just drained from me & DS being sick, and last night DH got hit hard, with the migraine and fevers. We are just going to be a cranky delight tonight, shlepping through all this new security at the airport. I barely have the energy to pack. Blech.
See you all next week.....

Christy - Good luck at the new job and hope daycare goes ok today.

Alicia - Glad yesterday wasn't too bad for Abbey at daycare. I definitely reccommend these Baby Faces books by Margaret Miller for Abbey. The only title I can think of off the top of my head is "What's on my Head" and it's pictures of babies with things like hats and stuffed animals on their heads. I bet Abbey would love it. :)

jmvan - Sorry about the bronchitis. We had to do a nebulizer with Sarah before and we always had to give her toys to occupy her while doing it.

Mama - She says it but not nearly as often as "da-dee" or of course, "mo-mo" ;). Yesterday when I picked her up from daycare, she saw me and said "da-dee!" Her teachers got a big laugh out of it. She usually says "mama" when she wants something, like to be picked up.

Grandma wars! - So we're leaving to visit my mom tomorrow for 5 days and MIL says on Sunday that she wants to come over tonight with dinner for us "so we won't have to worry about that with all the packing we have to do." And by come over with dinner, she means eat it with us too. This is her way of just laying claim to Sarah before Sarah sees her other grandmother. Sorry, but it is a total inconvenience for me to have to have company over tonight, regardless if I have to cook it or not, when I have to pack for all of us, figure out what I can and can't bring on the plane for Sarah, get food for my cats organized, etc. I asked DH if MIL was planning on peeing on Sarah tonight to mark Sarah as hers  . She sees Sarah practically every weekend whereas my mom sees Sarah maybe 4 times a year, so I don't know why she has to be all possessive about her. I know she loves her and Sarah adores her too, but it's just not what I need tonight!

Christy & Alicia: Good luck with the transition to daycare! I’m sure everyone (well, maybe not the moms :) ) will do great.

Jmvan: I hope that DS is feeling better and that you don’t catch anything!

Mama: It’s mama (or mom-mom) for everything but play and fun – then it’s “dah or da-da”

Grandmas: I’m so sorry Sasha but I know exactly what you are talking about. It frustrates me greatly. My ILs live 30 minutes away and my parents live 11 hours away so our situation is similar. I feel like DS is caught in this horrid tug of war sometimes. I’m not verry happy with the ILs right now for various reasons relating to their care of DS this past weekend (letting him stay up WAY past his bedtime then complaining that he was up at 5:30 and they were exhausted) and their treatment of me as his mother (just verbal crap about what I feed him and his bedtime, which has been a constant war, that is pointless). I wish my parents lived a little closer to us, but I wonder if that might not make the tug of war even worse.

Molars: Curse you molars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I feel better now :)

Kim: Good luck with the travels. I hope that this trip turns out to be more fun than anticipated, and that everyone feels better soon!

Kgif: So so cute!!

kim: Good luck w/ the trip. I'll be thinking about you.

sasha: That's irritating, I can totally see your frustration. It's such a task getting three people ready for a trip, let alone, having to clean up a kitchen after dinner, and chase a 15 mo. old around, after you've been working all day. WOW! That's exactly what I was thinking, does MIL havet o PEE on poor Sarah, to mark her territory? Geez Well, enjoy your time w/ your mom this weekend.

Kim
Have a good trip. I hope you're all feeling well soon!

Books
Jessie loves them too. "Reads" all day!

Mama
It was all dada all the time until about 2 weeks ago. My mom watches DD during the day and worked on mama and mom and now she's saying it like a champ. Except she calls other things mama too. I said to her the other day "mama is me" and pointed to myself. She said "me" and pointed to herself!

Hugs and kisses
Jessie is really starting to give great, around the neck hugs now and she kisses me all the time. It's the best! She's especially affectionate when she's sleepy!

Sleep
She still won't STTN. She goes down into her crib around 8:45 (after her last bottle and some rocking to put her to sleep) and wakes anywhere from 10:00pm to 1:30am - then I bring her in bed with us and she sleeps there for the rest of the night. Some nights she's restful and others she's up and down all night long (last night). She's also a squirmer - so needless to say, I'm sleep deprived - big time. Any suggestions here would be so appreciated.

Walking and talking
Jess took her first steps just before her 11 month b-day and was fully walking before her 1st b-day. Now she's a runner. It's hard to keep up with her! She's also talking up a storm. She says mama, dada, shoe, car car, again, nana (banana), noodle, hi, baby, Kix - the list goes on. She will repeat almost anything I tell her to. I have to really watch my mouth now!

First ER Visit
My parents built a 4 season room onto their house. It was completed for 2 days and Jessie was running around in it. It was not yet baby proofed. The chimney is exposed in that room - Last Wednesday, Jessie slipped in front of the chimney and cut her forehead open on the corner of the brick! I screamed for my mom! She was bleeding pretty bad! I was hysterical! We went to the ER and waited for hours. They finally treated her by holding the cut together and applying derma glue. She had the glue on until Sunday when she picked it off. The boo boo looks much better now. We took her to the Ped 2 days later for a recheck and they gave me ointment and baby maderma to lessen any potential scar. She has to stay out of the sun or wear a band aid over it if she is in the sun. What an ordeal. I think it will heal well though.

Sesame Place
Has any of the Northeast mamas been to Sesame place? http://www.sesameplace.com/sesame/pa/index.aspx
I was thinking of donning the band aid and taking her next week. Just wondering if anyone had been and if it's worth it.

Jessiesmama - I am a Jersey Girl but live in Vegas now and am heading back east to visit my family this week. My DH is meeting me next week and we are taking Ellie to Sesame Place. I have heard mixed reviews but my cousins who live in the area say its totally fun, the kids love it and it a great way to spend a day. They also say its very crowded and a little crazy. My DD is also running and very active so it should be a challenger to keep up with her. But if her face lights up there they way it does everytime Elmo's world comes on it will be worth it. I think that 2 or 3 is probably the ideal age but we are looking for things to do and this seemed worth it. Plus she should take a really big nap after a few hours there!

Kgif Cute!

Jessie I have been to sesame place as I use to live 20 min from there up until I moved a few months ago. I think Jessie will really enjoy it, however I don think I would go if my 15 month old were my only child. I have a almost 3 yr old who loves the place. I would wait a bit..How about trying the land of make beleive... There are no coupons floating around that I know of otherwise I would send you a few.
Glad jessie is okay.

Jessiesmama - We were debating on going to Sesame Place this weekend while we are in Phila., but ultimately decided against it. For the money we're going to have to pay for all of us to go there plus the hour drive, I just don't think she is old enough to really enjoy it yet. There is a thread somewhere in the 0-18 month section about it too that may help you. Most reviews said it was mainly a water park, but looking at the website, I saw some other rides. Sarah is a runner like Jessie, and I just didn't think she would be happy waiting in the lines for something she didn't understand at all, when she would be much happier just running around. I think we'll do it next summer, although it was tempting seeing how much Sarah adores Elmo. But DH said for $50, he was willing to dress up in an Elmo costume and entertain her. ;) :p

mama/dada it's about 50/50 right now, she addresses each of us by the proper word. During the day she says "dada" and looks for him and I say "dada is at work". As soon as he gets home (when she hears the door opening) she is screaming "dada!". I love when she says "mama" though :)

hugs/kisses DD will come over and give a hug, she recently started patting our back or shoulder when doing it. She gives hugs more than kisses but that's OK. :)

I grew up in South Jersey. We went on school trips to Sesame Place every year and I always thought it was a blast! I'd imagine it could have only gotten better.
That being said I don't think I would make a trip there with Jack at this point as I am sure he would be just as pleased with the park near our house at this age :)

Sesame Place ~ I agree...think they're still a bit young yet. I used to go every year as a camp counselor, and always had a blast...BUT, its VERY easy to lose kids there (I lost one once, and the park staff was very good about helping find the child, and chatted with me about how many kids they have to locate a day...dont remember the number, but it was HUGE...of course, that was years ago...) I cant wait to take nic there though...

Carissa~Thanks!

"Mama"~I think I may have heard it this morning!! She said it the other day while she was fussing and half asleep, but this morning it was while she was babbling to to Pooh car!

Books~We make trips to the library at least once a week, a lot of times twice. Almost everyday this week, I've been holding her on my lap and reading to hear while I catch up on emails!!

"Dada"~Shylah will now grab my cell phone, push random buttons, holding it up to her ear and say "dada"! The other day right after DH got home (she hadn't seen him come in), I found her with the house phone and asked her who she was calling. She looked at me and said "dada"! DH loved it!

Alicia~Thanks! Hope Abbey likes her new daycare!

Christy~Thanks!

Sleep~DD has been waking up a couple of times a night here lately. She won't go back to sleep at all. DH finally got up and gave her 4 oz of milk in a bottle. Horrible for the teeth, I know, but at 3am after not being able to go back to sleep for an hour, I didn't care!

DD has started saying "Na na na" when she doesn't like something. Isn't "no" supposed to wait for at least age 2!! :(

Julie~How's Collin feeling today?

Kim~Hope your flight goes well and that everyone in your family starts feeling better. Maybe your ILs will take Thomas for a while, so that you can get some rest while you are there!

Sasha~LOL! Some friends of ours have a daughter that calls them both "mama". There is a very distinct way she says it for each of them, though. She'll be two in October.

KGif~Adorable pics!!

Grandma Wars~My MIL is the same way with my dad and s/mom!!! She says that DD is her only grandchild, and they have another one they can spend time with.

Jodie~How scary!! Glad she's okay!

BAH! I'm a week behind!!! Which means that I'm aobut 50 pages behind on this thread. :p

Last I read was about Hobbies and Division of Labor at home...

hobbies - I started playing tennis again in the Spring (after a 10 year hiatus), so I get to go to practice every Wed. night and play matches on Sunday afternoons. It's really given me the chance to make new friends, and to do something just for me (DH doesn't play at all).

division of labor - We got a cleaning lady that comes every 2 weeks and it has really alleviated a TON of fighting. I take care of all the laundry, grocery shopping, taking Maia to appointments, cooking (unless DH grills), the bills. DH takes care of the lawn (although I do the plants), cleans up after meals (sometimes...I do a lot of this), gives Maia her bath at night. In between cleaning lady visits, I sweep and pick up/clean up constantly.

So, we left Maia with my ILs for 5 days, and she did great! I'm so relieved. They followed the schedule relatively well, so she was right on track when I picked her up. When DH and I went into my ILs' place to get her, it took her a couple of seconds that it was us, then she gave us the HUGEST smile and was SOOOOO happy to see us. She kept going from me to DH and gave me a huge hug and kiss. It was so cute, and I was so glad that she wasn't mad at us for leaving her for a number of days. Anyway, it was hard to be gone from my little companion for 5 days (first time here...have only done overnights before).

OK, time for her to go down for a nap...I'm trying to push her nap time back to 1:30, and she's fighting me on it right now. I'm pushing back 15 minutes every few days.;)

Thanks for the replies about Sesame Place. I was thinking she may still be too young but DH wanted us to do one more "fun" summer activity before summer ends. It will cost DH and I about $75 to get into the park and that's before food and everything else. Not sure if it's worth it quite yet. She does love water attractions though - and all the characthers..... Still deciding.....

Jessie Why not give The land of Make beleive a try..its cheaper and I think she will have fun. (Though I'm not sure where you live) so The Land of Make believe may be far.

I don't think you have anything to loss..if you really want to go to Sesame place then give it a try. She may be a bit to younge for somethings but ultimatly she will have fun. Thats just my 2 cents.

Thanks for all the well wishes for the new job and DD transitioning back to daycare. First day went well! New boss is so glad that I am starting. Typical new job stuff, filing out forms, meeting co-workers, getting settled in office, and reading employee handbook.

Sarah was happy to see the owner and granddaughter of her daycare again. She was so excited to be there again she only took a 15 minute nap all day! I thought she might fall asleep in the car, nope, she babbled the whole time.

Aunt Liv: Yay for a good trip! We are leaving DS for the first set of multiple days in September and I am a basket case already. You have given me hope!

Ally: CUTE photo!! He looks so mature and big!!

DS has started doing actual art projects himself at school instead of the teacher doing most if not all of it for him. Yesterday was sponge painting and today was a worksheet on circles that involved coloring and gluing. The coloring is all over the place and the circles kinda got on the glue but I want to show both projects to everyone I can!! I love hanging his projects on the refrigerator. I think we are going to put cork on part of our kitchen wall by the built in desk to make a gallery :)

psusna I'm running out of room on the fridge with art stuff, so we're rotating them in and out and scanning everything. I think in Cookie magazine they had an idea to scan and then print a big poster made up of small scans of the artwork that I thought was cute.

Kisses DS looks like a fish when you ask for a kiss and when you say "Bye" he waves and blows a kiss. He also kisses at the appropriate places reading Snugglepuppy. DS was not cuddly for the first year but now we're all about cuddling, hugging and kissing.

So DS work this morning with a dry diaper. Slightly concerned about this but not freaking out b/c he overflowed his pre-bath diaper b/c he drank so much water at dinner. He was also wet when we pulled into daycare today and I've asked his teacher to call me if he didn't have a wet diaper for more than 2 hours this morning. No call, whew. Do you think he held it all night?!?!?

rancherswife - HA! I did the same thing in watching out for Jennylou's new baby!! I'm so glad that little Nora is here.

Maia had her 15 month WBV today. I had to wait an HOUR in the lobby before we were sent back...so annoying since I made her appointment for 10AM, and since we've never had to wait more than 5 minutes, I didn't bring any snacks for her, or diapers, etc. Well, of course, she started getting hungry around 10:45, went #2 in her diaper...I was SO unprepared, and feeling like the worse mom!:o When we finally went back, Maia was in complete tantrum mode. She was tired and hungry, and just sick of being there, and after 2 shots (in her arms-yikes), it was a complete melt-down :( . Anyway, here are her new stats:

15 month WBV:
20lbs, 6oz - 10th percentile (FINALLY we can turn her seat around) :D
31 1/4" - 75th percentile
18 1/2" head circumference - 75-80th percentile

OK, crabby babby needs her bath!

Oh no! So far behind again!

Hugs and Kisses- Yes, although not as many are unsolicited as I would like.

Walking- I think it was a week or 10 days. I do remember that it seemed to happen overnight.

So James has another cold. Boo. I guess that's what we get for going so long without one! He's also teething, but he won't open his mouth wide enough for me to see whether it's a molar, even when brushing his teeth.

I only have 3 more days at work. They threw me a party on Tuesday night and DH and DS came. Poor DS- all the people and the loud noise scared him.

I may wait a little while longer to join the new April moms thread. I started bleeding a little yesterday and went to the doctor. He did an ultrasound and said that I was not as far along as I thought so he couldn't really see anything conclusive (although he could see that I am pregnant). I am pretty confused by it all as I'm pretty sure I O'ed 7/25 (egg white CM) and I don't remember EWCM after 7/26, but he thinks that even though we DTD on 7/26, I must not have really O'ed until after that. Anyway, he's supposed to call me with beta/progesterone numbers by Monday at the latest so for right now, I'm just trying to think positive thoughts and take it easy.

hugs and kisses she will give kisses on her time frame she is just learning to pucker her lips.

qotd-walking It wasn't long at all 1 week to a week and a half, the more practice to she got the further she would go.

I am very behind, Eric and I celebrated our 4th anniversary yesterday and did some shopping for the new baby and for Grace. I found some really good deals at carter's for summer and at Kohl's I found shorts for Grace they were 2 bucks! That is what I like to see!

Walking~DD still only takes wobbly steps after a month or so of doing it. Part of me is honestly not in any hurry for her to really take off.

Well, DD and I neither one have been feeling well for a couple of days now. :( She's teething, so her mouth hurts, her fingers are red from being constantly chewing on, and she has a Niagra Falls level runny nose! I have been dealing with body aches, a sore throat, and a head ache. :( Ugh!! I hope I can start feeling better this weekend.

sick mommas/babies I hope all feel better soon.

Carissa Happy Anniversary!

Seems like a lot of us are celebrating our 4 yrs. 2002 was popular in this thread!

we are celebrating #4 as well this year. what did everyone give/get for year 4? The "traditional gift" is fruit/flowers. I'm thinking of buying DH a case of wine. I need to get on it since it is next week!

Have a nice weekend all!

jrdh - ~~~***good thoughts coming your way***~~~

carissa - Happy Anniversary!

We'll be celebrating #6 this year...is there a traditional gift for that? It's labor day w/e so I need to get on it too!

So, now that Maia is full-on walking, she can wear dresses :p . She LOVES them! At least right now she does. By tomorrow, she may be over them.

Have a great w/e all!

oops...can one of the mods fix the following for Maia's stats:
At 15 months, she is walking (started walking on 08/02/06) and has 12 teeth (6 top, 6 bottom, including 4 molars)

Thanks!

jrdh: You're in my thoughts. Hope everything turns out OK!

walking: I think Landon was wobbly for about a month he was steady by his b-day and had been walking since the end of April, so...I dunno, I can't do the math! ;)

carissa: Happy belated anniversary!!! Any names picked out yet? :)

aunt liv: sorry for the crappy ;) experience at the dr.'s office. We've had to wait an hour once before when they were switching over to a new computer system and had to have each person fill out new forms and insurance info. It was HORRIBLE!

Quiet weekend. Landon's getting a late nap, which means he'll probably be up later than usual. Of course, on the night we plan to watch a movie after he goes down! ;)

DS has a stomach virus :( It's not roto, but he's got the poops. Great. He's barely eaten anything at all today. He only went twice but they were grody to the max. I hope everyone else's sick DC's are feeling better!!

This morning, before the fun started, we went to the park and he had a blast. He loves the slide.

Walking: It took DS almost a month from wobbly to speedy and steady.

Anniv: We're celebrating 5 this year (end of Sept) and going to Hilton Head for a long weekend leaving DS with FIL/MIL. Great. Can't you tell I'm excited he's staying there. I need to get mentally prepared.

What a fantastic day!!

I'm still battling off a cold. I think I'm winning, but I'm just exhausted for some reason. The only time I did anything productive today was to work on the headboard I'm refinishing for our guest room. It's on our garage floor and I've been working on it for about 2 days. Anywho, I finally got up around 5pm and went to the store. Only when I got home, I forgot about the headboard and drove into the garage!! Yup, I ran over the damn headboard that I've been working on for 2 days. Luckily Scott fixed it and I was able to cover up the tire tracks (no, I'm not kidding). I drive a big, heavy Volvo SUV, so it could have been a lot worse I guess. :o

Wait, it gets better. We were giving Abbey a bath tonight and Scott and I were sitting on the edge of the tub chatting while Abs played in the water. All of the sudden I hear Scott say "Cool, Abbey took a poo and is playing with it." I thought he was kidding, but he wasn't! :o So Scott rinsed her off in the shower while I scrubbed the tub and the 7 million toys that were in there.

What a great Saturday! Can't wait for tomorrow! :)

alicia: LOL!!! Sorry girl, but I had to crack up at that one. Something I would TOTALLY do. For instance...a couple of weeks ago, I backed my car out of the garage and was loading some stuff up in the back w/ the back door (I have a tahoe) so, I'm talking about the door in the rear up. Totally drove off w/ it up, and didn't even notice until I was nearly to the first stop sign! I chalked it up to pg brain! ;)

psusna - we were in Hilton Head just last weekend (when we left Maia with the ILs for 5 days). I was a nervous wreck the whole time leading up to it, but once we were there, I relaxed, had a few cocktails, and was fine.

that's our big thing right now, whatever name we decide on (once we know the sex) MUST sound good w/ Landon ;).

tgr: glad you're feeling better, hope the sore throat goes away soon.

QOTD - Maia still sleeps in a sleep sack and I was thinking today that maybe it's time to start using actual sheets and blankets in her bed. I guess my question is, is it safe at this point to use blankets and sheets? Has anyone transitioned to that?

Aunt Liv #6 is CANDY/IRON or Wood. I like the candy part! Can't wait for #6! I hope you and DD are feeling better.

psusna yikes, I hope everyone in your household gets better soon.

ahavnes wow, that was a tough day! The headboard story made me LOL though! I'm glad your DH could fix it!

Carissa those are nice names. DD has a little friend named Jonah.

rancherswife Fishing - how cute!

tgr68 glad you are getting better.

QOTD I still haven't started using a blanket w/ DD. I just don't think she will keep it on her so it seems pointless. Since it's still summer I just put her in PJs and call it a day. She moves around a lot at night so I just can't figure out the blanket thing....

Well we had a quiet weekend. I was supposed to go do something this morning but the garage door opener wouldn't work. I checked the circuit breaker and neither DH or I can figure it out. The bad thing is that it is a detached garage w/ no other door so I'm not sure how we are going to get in there (happened once before and DH broke a window). However I'm stuck today w/ no car and no stroller (yup in the garage). :( poop....

Hi ladies! Sorry I haven't come in to do a shot outs! I find my self busy and then I fall behind!

Happy Anniversary to anyone I missed

QOTD: no sheet yet, and most nights, no blanket. If the A/C is a little cool, I'll cover him with a blanket, but he's also all over the crib and usually it doesn't stay on.

ahavnes: sorry, but I had to laugh at your story. I hope you're feeling better and more rested!

teeth: I know we had this 'discussion' last week about teeth, but good gosh, my kid is producing teeth right and left. Over a week or so, two molars and the tip of one of his cuspid/canines erupted. I can see the tip of another canine about ready to come through. Maybe it's good he's getting all his molars and canines with in a month or so??? He's been pretty good considering.

Travel: well, it's been over six months since we've done a plane ride with Brody. We're heading up to my hometown on Thursday. Luckily the flight is only 40 minutes. I need to go and buy some new toys to keep him happy with on the flight, hopefully ones that will get through security! I'm looking forward to going 'home', even if my parents moved out of the house I grew up in and moved into a condo.

Can you all believe how fast this summer is disappearing???

08-21-2006, 02:52 PM
Got back from our trip this afternoon. Sarah did so well on the plane both there and back! But one thing we did not think about was her kicking the seat in front of her. Our choices were try to pin her legs down and have her shriek the whole time or just let it go and be really embarrassed. We went for option #2 and luckily had very understanding people in front of her on both plane rides. Anyhoo, Sarah and my mother quickly re-bonded and we had a great time. It sucks she is so far away because she is so good with Sarah and Sarah adores her.

QOTD - Sarah is officially a blanky girl now. Will not go to sleep without it. I also try to cover her up with a bigger blanket but she moves around so much that it comes off very quickly.

Alicia - Sorry you had such a rough day, but I had to laugh, especially the poo part. :p

psusna - Hope you all feel better soon!

jrdh - Sending sticky vibes your way.

Sarah has her first swim class tonight. I was talking to a lady on the plane who had a 20 month old who had taken the same class and told me her DD is more apprehensive now about water after the class then she was before. I hope that isn't the case here!

psusna

QOTD: He sleeps with a blanket at school but I only use one at home if it's especially chilly. He moves around so much I'm still afraid he'll get tangled or something. He sleeps on a sheet with his puppy and is a happy boy.

Sasha: Good luck with swim lessons! It took DS a while to warm up to them but by the end he was doing great. So glad that you had a great trip to visit your mom!!

Thanks for the get well wishes! Feeling much better this evening. DH and I got hit with this 100xs worse than DS, thankfully. We shipped DS to the ILs for the night (she picked him up from school took him straight there) to stop the spread of contamination. I miss him so much, though. I need some of his pat pats to make me feel better.

Carissa- LOL about running over the snowman. :p

Rancherswife~Thanks!

Julie~Thanks!

psusna~Thanks! Hope your family is feeling better!

QOTD: Blanket~We had to start laying a blanket over her at around 6 months because our heating/air just can't make it to the second floor, and it was the middle of winter. We tucked it in real tight around her and kept it under her arms, so it was almost a variation of a swaddle.

Irish~Wow! That a lot of teeth all at once! Have fun on your trip!

Sasha~Welcome back! Glad Sarah did so well for you on the plane! Good luck with swim lessons!

QOTD: Bedtime~We usually start our bedtime routine around 8:00, and DD is in bed around 8:30. DH gets some time with her, but it still gets her to bed at a decent hour! Plus, we like to stay up late anyway, so it gives us a couple of hours to spend together!

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate them.

Unfortunately, I don't have very good news. I started bleeding heavily and feeling crampy before my doctor's appointment yesterday. Blankets
One DS wasn't truly swaddled anymore, I kept using the 30"x40" thin flannel recieving blanket at a sleep cue: if he's wrapped in it, its bedtime. So he has always had a "blanket" in bed with him. If it gets cool, I'll put a thin fleece Carters blanket on his (breathable). He usually kicks it off, though!

Bedtime
8am for DS

Words
Yesterday DS said to me in the car "What Mom?" and DH & I laughed, and laughed, and laughed. it was clear as a bell! I guess I wasn't speeaking clearly enough. ;)

Soooo. I'm Back
What a traumatic week at the ILs.
The flying was fine, security-wise. But en route our colds made the ear-popping terribly painful. DS was screaming, DH & I were suffering.

He refused to sleep. The 1st night he was up from 12:30am-4am. Then each other night it was 2am wakeup...such a nightmare.

Then our flight home was delayed and he was so amped up he refused to sleep....we didn't take off until about 8:30pm Chicago time....so that's 9:30 our time. He didn't fall asleep until maybe midnight.

Then - the scary part - was we got into our apartment garage at 12:15am...as I was getting DS from his carseat I got a chill down my back, noticed DH was quiet and said to him "What is going on?" he was frozen at the gate of the truck, told me to get back in. He closed the trunk & jumped back in - there was a kid with a gun trying to steal a Mercedes about 20 feet away from us. I had the cops & detectives here this morning becase concierge never called them last night. Sooooo scary. I couldn't sleep at all last night, thinking OMG a kid with a gun and ill intentions was 20 feet from my family. I just feel out of it this morning. WTF is wrong with people these days?
The exit gate in our garage was broken last week by a semi, and insurance is dragging their feet so it delayed repair. This kid walked right in. I can't wait to move.

Sorry no more shout-outs, I'm in a bit of a state still....

jrdh - So sorry :(.

Kim - How terrifying!
-----
Bed Time - We usually start bath time around 6:30-7 and she'll go down around 7:30. She's in the process of dropping down to one nap, so our schedule is all over the place lately.

Blanket - We use a very special blanket that my Mom knit for her. She loves it. She likes to hold it in her hand as she falls asleep, but like the rest of the babies, she kicks it off at some point.

jrdh & Kim I posted in LJ but again so sorry to hear all this.

Bed time Bath, milk and book starts at 7:00 and is in crib and asleep by 7:30. Very clockwork which is great but sucks when we travel.

Blanket No only because he's a sweater and nothing stays on him. He sleeps with a bunch of stuffed animals and this Pooh Lullaby Toy that someone gave us and if it ever breaks, I will die.

15 WBV DS is consistently progressing as a lollipop
Height: 30"
Weight: 21 lbs
Head: can't remember but it was 90%

He got 4 shots which he handled really well. We got the Hep A shot though neither the ped nor DH really pushed it. I thought about all the mumps outbreaks and how much we travel and went for it. He did have a mild hive reaction which was strange but passing.

Kim: Oh I'm so sorry! I really hope that the house hunt goes quickly and you can rest easier.

We just put DS to bed at 7pm!! He was so exhausted that he was actually trying to crawl INTO his crib. Who knows how late ILs kept him up last night..

Kim HOLLY CRAP! I am so sorry you had a scary night. I am glad you and your family are okay. I hope you are able to move soon so you will not have to worry about that type of thing happening that close to your family ever again. YEah! what the hell is wrong with people these days. So scary!

LJ...Gesh i outta figure out to get over there so I can keep up with the few of you who can not frequent CC as much.

Thanks everyone. It was just an overwhelming trip (no sleep, all of us sick & cranky, family drama, migraine Monday) then to finally be thrilled to be at home and have someone about to commit a crime so close to the 2 most important people in the world to me...well, its just taking a toll today. I'm sure if Thomas would just STTN tonight I can refresh myself and get myself back together.

By tomorrow I plan to be back in fighting form, making smart-ass remarks and all. ;)

kim: Holy Sh!t! That's is SOOO scary! I'm so glad you are all three OK, thank goodness dh was aware of the surroundings. Hope you get to feeling better and Thomas is able to get back in his normal routine easily for you.

bed time: Landon's in bed by 8, sometimes 7:45.

First ER visit Oh what a night..WHOA! Nikki was playing in the living room with DS and DH (I was upstairs getting ready to watch Rockstar Supernove)when all of a sudden I hear a loud bang and Nikki start screaming/crying. I quickly jumped out of the bed ran as fast as i could down the stairs when I hear My DH yelling "Jenn, Jenn get down here...NOW!" I was already in the kitchen by the time he finished yelling for me. I look in the kitchen and there was DH holding Nikki both covered in blood i mean covered in blood I quickly ran up stairs and got the medical kit and wet wash clothes ran back down stairs and asked DH what the hell happen. He said she tripped and fell into the coffee table and hit her forhead and that she had a huge gash. So, I guickly applied pressure to the cut all alone singing to her and talking very softly in hopes she would come down which did work by the way ;). DH put DS in the car and grabbed my purse and diaper bag and I ran to the car put Nikki in her car seat and off we went to the nearest ER all the while I wanted to cry. I knew that would not be a good idea because I do not want my kids to be afraid and panic if they see blood and I knew that if I were to lose it then she would cry again and DS would start to cry, so that was out of the question. I had to keep it together. We get to the ER and they take us right away and they got the beeding under control and they ended up putting some clue crap on the cut and making sure she did not have a concussion which she didn't that you lord.
So when we got home we had to give her a bath because she had blood everwhere on her. GESHHH what a night. Sorry my post is so long..I just had to get it out. I feel so bad that she got hurt and needless to say our coffee table is no more. We put it in the basement for now. I just feel so so quilty that we didn't move the coffee table sooner. But like the dr said it was an accident.
So, if you have a coffee table in your house please move it so this will not happen to you and you will have to go to bed feeling guilty like I will be tonight. :( :(

Did they catch the guy or did he just run off? Here's to hoping that your complex gets off their @ss and fixes that gate soon!
Well, we couldn't find him so the concensus was for us 3 to hightail it into our unit and lock the door (all access to our units is outside, so its not like once you are 'in the building' you're secure). I told concierge & security to pull the security camera tapes and call the cops.
Guess what they didn't do?
So I had to call the cops the next morning, who were sooooo annoyed no one called them when it happened. Two cops and two detectives came over. The lead detective went down to give the building manager an earful, and i saw him 3 hours later standing next to the broken gate berrating her. :D rather than spend the $ and get reimbursed by the insurance company, they decided to take the chance. So stupid. They should have video of him, since we were right next to/below the camera. I also think the guy left us alone, because as he turned to Tom he'd have seen the camera pointing right at him. Thank God.

disney
OMG - drama! I hope she (and you!) is doing better today. I've gone through the livingroom and made the decision to remove all things wound-inducing and leave all things just bruise-inducing. Its practically empy, excpet for toys and the couches, lol!
Don't feel too guilty though, in April DS slipped in the tub about 5 inches from BOTH me and DH and managed to cut himself right next to his eye (I mean, sooooo close). Had quite a bit of blood and a serious shiner the next day. Whoops!

Good Stuff
Okay, since its been all drama and bad news here lately, let me throw out some cuteness:
- We had to move the PnP at my IL's because we could see Thomas was turning on and off and on and off the dimmer light in the guest room. I'd put him down, then go to the hall to use the bathroom and see the room light up....go dark...light up...go dark...
- He learned to play golf - DH is unbelievably proud. He hits the small FP Aquarium fishbowl balls with his Easter golfclub (the shaft is a long carrot). Its pretty funny, and I hope to catch it on video soon.
- He's 100% walking. Pretty fast now, too. Its so wild to see your baby go from crawling to walking!
- He now 'reads' outloud when looking at his books. MIL, SIL & I were in the car, and I gave him a book on dogs. He 'read' the whole thing to us, page by page.

Disneygirl I'm so glad your DD is OK. It sounds like you remained so calm through it all. Good job! What kind of coffee table do you have (wood, glass?) - just curious. Ours is wooden with pretty rounded edges and corners. I probably should put it away but right now it is blocking the large screen tv which she likes to bang her hands on...

kimthebride that's some fun stuff you have going on there w/ DS. Maybe you have the next Tiger Woods on your hands!

good stuff here

-lots of reading books, she also points to things in the book if I ask her to or she will point to something and I tell her what it is.
- signing - we were watching signing times and they said "hungry" and she did the "eat" sign. So she understands that you eat when hungry but doesn't do the hungry sign (we haven't really worked on it) but I thought it was cool that she definitely makes the connection. She also signed "milk" when she heard them say "thirsty". Facinating stuff.
ETA - new word in the past few weeks is "pool". She sees the kiddie pool and goes nuts saying "pool".

disney: You poor thing, and POOR nikki. I'm glad everything is OK! You're good, girl, I'd not have thought about keeping it together for the kids, (logically) and would've fallen to pieces! ;) Good mama!

kim: YAY for Thomas walking full time. Get ready girl, IT ONLY GETS WILDER! ;)

reading: Landon has starting "reading" out loud too. It is too funny. With his books that have animals in them, he'll be babbling and then you'll hear a "mooo" or a "baaaa" etc. They are SO funny.

OK...I'm STARVING, and just may not make it if I don't go eat! :)

Disneygirl: You handled things really well. I'm glad Nikki is okay.

Fun stuff: Asher is starting to recognize a sentence and fill in the blank. Like if I read him his weather book, I'll say "The rain is wet, but we are ___." And Asher says "dry!" If I read his book about opposites, I'll say "George climbs up, then jumps ___." And Asher says "down!" This morning, I sang "Twinkle, twinkle little ___," and Asher said "star!" Crazy!

Awww, I love hearing about all the cute stuff that our babies are doing. :)

Abbey's new stuff: She now says "hi," but only to the pets, not to DH and I for some reason. Her vocabulary is now up to about 20 words probably. She says about 8 words, but will point to the rest on command. Especially her "b-button." This is her new favorite. She's also figured out what the camera is all about and will smile as big as possible when we get it out. :)

Do we have any other May babies who still aren't walking? I know I'm not supposed to worry about this until 18 months, but Abbey doesn't really even seem interested in walking. She "walks" everywhere on her knees and is so good at it that she doesn't have incentive to change. And she's so independent that she won't let us help her learn to walk. She's been cruising around furniture for about 4 months though. Hmph!

Disney- Wow! I'm glad everyone is ok! What a scare!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! We are all doing much much better today and Nikki is back to her old self as if nothing ever happen. Of course I'm tired as hell as I did not go to sleep last night because the drs told me to check on her every hrs so thats exactly what I did. I sat in her room and pretty much just put my head on her crib and watched her sleep.

We have a wooden coffee table that like you blocked our 60 inch big screen tv because the kids liked to touch the screen and use the screen like drums. Oh well, I guess they will have free rane to the TV since the coffee table is now put away. Our coffee table has rounded edges/corners like yours and I gues she fell just the right way..

Disneygirl OMG! I am so glad she is OK!!

Fun Stuff If anyone know the Laurie Burkner song "Song in my Tummy", it is one of Aiden's fav. When they say "song in my noise" he points to his nose and when they do "song in my heart" and she pats her chest and sayd "boom boom" Aiden does it too. Very cute.

walking NOPE still not walking here!!

Kim - OMG! Glad you guys are safe and hope the police catch the guy.

Disney - Oh poor Nikki, and poor you! I'm glad she is ok.

Alicia - It'll happen, don't worry ;).

New Stuff - Newest word is "shoe" which comes out "you". She'll do some 2 word sentences too, like "bye-bye kitty" or "hi doggie." She is now recognizing Cookie Monster and Big Bird in her Sesame Street books. I'd say she has about a 20 word vocabulary at this point.

We had a near scare this morning, although I am still a bit shaken up. We were in the doctor's parking lot going for Sarah's 15 month appt. and I was holding Sarah and tripped over a branch on the ground. We both went tumbling to the ground. I pulled Sarah in tight as well fell and got my hand behind her head to protect her from the fall. Luckily it worked, not a bruise or cut on her, I didn't get so lucky however. Skinned both my knees pretty bad, skinned my elbow and my wrist and I cannot bend or put any weight on my left knee/leg. I freaked at first because I saw blood on her but it was mine. I was totally shaken up and could barely walk, so the staff at the office took us in immediately, checked Sarah over and then even cleaned up my knees, LOL. I'm still a bit dazed over the incident and definitely in some pain but it could have been a lot worse, so I am just grateful that Sarah was not hurt at all. Anyway, 15 months stats were:

24.2 lbs (75th %)
33 inches (95th %)
18 in. HC - I think! (20 %)

3 shots, including the Hep A. The ped. said she wanted Sarah to get it because it was spread through food and could be easily transmitted in a daycare setting.
