I just joined - Sinners&Saints. I logged on tonight specifically to see if there was any fantasy football chatter yet. Thanks for starting the league. I'm already getting excited for the new season. My team - New Orleans Saints should certainly be better this year between picking up Drew Brees and our top draft selection who just signed, Reggie Bush.

My thoughts on the fantasy league. I know you have it set up for 20 teams and that's fine, but I do remember from last season that with that many teams it's really hard to get a good bench. There are only 32 NFL teams. For positions that really only have one player per team - such as QB, K, or DEF - there will be some fantasy teams that won't have an available player on their bench to use during a bye week. This will effect at least 8 fantasy teams per position. I play in other leagues and they usually limit their leagues to 14 or 16 fantasy teams. My favorite league I play in has only 10 teams.

In years past autodraft has been used in this league but I'm all for a live draft if we can find a convenient time for all the managers. No matter when the draft is please give us as much notice as possible so we can set up our draft order and not be surprised to log in one day and find out we've already had the draft.

Thanks again and I look forward to fun filled season! :)

Good point - I've deleted the league so you'll have to sign up again. We'll do 10 teams and if we get more interest than that we'll have to start another league.

Here is the new league:
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/324613
Password is Chatter

I think the auto draft is easier so we'll stick with that - everyone will just have to make sure they rank their players. I'll wait until very close to week 1 to set it to draft.

Okay I'm all signed up again.

I agree - 20 teams was a lot last year. I'll definitely be signing up again this year :D Auto draft is the best option for me.

I am having ALL kinds of trouble signing up. I'm being told I can't view the link because i'm not part of the league and when I type in the number and password, it's saying it's incorrect. :(

lawyerlee
08-02-2006, 01:40 PM
I'm in. I called my team lawyerlee's Wildcats.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble signing up, Chimichanga. I'm not sure that I can help, but I'll try.

(1) If you go to this link: Fantasy Football 2006 (http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1)

(2) click the "sign up now" button

(3) sign in with your Yahoo user name and password

(4) click the blue "join league" button

(5) click the blue "join custom" button on the page that came up

(6) put in number "324613" and password "Chatter"

I hope this helps. I personally think they make this stuff unnecessarily confusing. And Yahoo! is much better than others, like CBS! :(

I'm looking forward to football season with great anticipation! :D

TazLuv

Chimichanga I didn't notice you were having problems. Lawyerlee's instructions are great - if you're still having issues let me know we'll try to figure it out! :)

Lawyerlee - I should have name my team Team Taz Jayhawks! ;)

10 teams will definitely make it better than last year. The other problem with last year was that we had our draft rediculously early (before even any pre-season games were played). If we can make sure that that doesn't happen again this year, I'm in.

ETA: Okay, I'm in - KC Bobbleheads. Please give lots of notice prior to the draft :)

TazLuv

Glad to see everyone is getting signed up. I will wait a LONG time and give everyone PLENTY of notice before setting it to draft! :D

Everyone have a nice weekend.

TazLuv - Quick question and suggestion about our draft. Can you put in a date and time for the autodraft or is it just an "on/off" type thing and whenever you go in and switch it to "on" the draft happens?

If you can pre-set a date/time can we set it up now or soon that way if someone's not around online near draft time they will know now when it's going to be? Or even if it is just a switch can we decide soon when we'll switch it?

I think the first game is Thursday, Sept. 7. I would like to draft about a week in advance that way if we want to make trades or changes we're not scrambling last minute before the games start.

So I propose a draft date sometime the last week of August.

Anyone else with ideas or suggestions?

TazLuv
08-11-2006, 04:34 AM
With an auto draft you don't set a time I just set it to draft and it does within a day or two of being turned "on". I agree that the last week of August, or so, is good. It won't let us draft with an odd number of players so we either need 1 or 3 more people so we'll hopefully get a couple more in the next week or so.

Why don't we plan that I will set it to draft on August 28th? How does that sound for everybody?

Adaya
08-11-2006, 04:43 AM
I think 8/28 is good. That way we'll have enough time to make changes without overthinking them. It would be about the same amount of time we'd have within the season from week to week.

scarlett
08-11-2006, 05:59 AM
August 28th sounds good to me.

I will set the league to draft the morning of August 28th - good luck ladies! :D

Looks like the draft happened last night. How does everyone like their teams? I'm pretty happy with mine. Hopefully no one gets hurt between now and the start of the season.

njlorelei
08-29-2006, 09:51 AM
I just took a look at our draft too. I'm never happy with my team but that's fine. I always go back and look at the round by round draft and think "man why didn't I have so and so higher, I could have got him".

I think that St. Paul Reubens and CowGirls have the best line ups today, but all that can change.

Good luck to all!

08-29-2006, 11:01 AM

Adaya
08-29-2006, 11:32 AM
I'm pretty happy with my team. I just hope Peyton Manning gets it together this year and starts passing more. I liked that he was being more a "team player" last year, but he really hurt the Fantasy points last year with all that love he was sharing. LOL!!

PookiePrincess
08-29-2006, 04:01 PM
Okay, my husband is laughing at me because the thing I'm most excited about on my team is I have David Givens. I didn't even know he left the Pats, but I think it's cool because I went to high school with him! (Yeah, I'm a dork. ;) )

HERE WE GOOOOOOOO!! FF really messes with my thoughts, though, when watching the games. I'm a DIE HARD Dolphins fan, but I also have Pitt players on my FF team. Actually, after tonight, 5 of my 9 positions will already have their stats!

I AM SOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW! I've been waiting for 7:30pm all damn day! :D

scarlett
09-12-2006, 04:43 AM
Ug! I just realized that the way the scoring is set up, that yardage counts for barely anything. It's TDs or (practically) nothing. I better have a chat with my team and tell them about the endzone. :)

TazLuv
09-12-2006, 05:13 AM
Yeh, I'm sorry about that - I didn't realize that either. I picked the "standard" scoring, I should have looked at it harder.

ETA: I just realized I can still change the settings - if you guys would like I can change the rushing and receiving yards to 1 point/10 yards rather than the 1 point/20 yards it is set at now.

Since we're changing it after week 1 for everyone it will affect everyone the same. Let me know your thoughts.

Adaya
09-12-2006, 06:52 AM
I'm down for whatever you ladies want to do. If you all want to change, fine with me.

So how do you all feel about your teams after week 1? I know it's early? Did you have a good week? Did you have fun watching football this week?

I went to a football party and had a lot of fun. I'm so glad football season is back!!

TazLuv
09-12-2006, 10:13 AM
I'm glad football is back, both college and professional! :D I wish I had paid more attention to the settings because I was watching the SD game and thought Tomlinson had won it for me in the 1st quarter. :( Oh well - next week is a new week.

I would prefer to change it - I like high scores! :)

njlorelei
09-12-2006, 12:32 PM
I'm fine with changing the scoring as long as the socres for week one stay the same. If the change affects week 1, I'm pretty sure my win would become a loss. Team Taz - I was shocked that I managed to pull off the victory. I was sure that between Randy Moss and LT my 18 point margin would be gone.

Another scoring change I'd propose is 1 point for every 25 yards passing.

TazLuv
09-12-2006, 12:36 PM
I agree - it shouldn't change week 1, if it does we'll change it back and live with it.

I'll look at the passing yards too! :D

TazLuv
09-12-2006, 04:26 PM
Well I made the changes and this is the message I got:

Your requested changes have been made (view updated stat modifiers).

If you have changed one or more of your point modifiers from their previous settings, the changes will be implemented the next time your leagues stats are updated, with the new modifier values applying retroactively to the start date of your league.

So I will write down this weeks winners/totals and see what happens after next week - if records change I will change it back.

Is that OK with everyone?

Records as of right now (with old stats):
Place/Team/Record/Pct./Pts/Streak/Waiver/Moves
1. Adaya's Hot Boys 1-0-0 1.000 63.00 W-1 6 -
2. lawyerlee's Wildcats 1-0-0 1.000 60.00 W-1 4 1
3. Rhinestone Cowboys 1-0-0 1.000 60.00 W-1 5 1
4. Sinners&Saints 1-0-0 1.000 40.00 W-1 3 2
5. Pookie's Powderpuffs 0-0-1 .500 61.00 T-1 10 3
6. CowGirls 0-0-1 .500 61.00 T-1 2 -
7. St. Paul Reubens 0-1-0 .000 53.00 L-1 7 -
8. KC Bobbleheads 0-1-0 .000 38.00 L-1 1 1
9. Team Taz 0-1-0 .000 36.00 L-1 9 1
10. Texas Heat 0-1-0 .000 30.00 L-1 8 3

TazLuv
09-12-2006, 07:23 PM
Here is what happened with the recalculation. The **show wins/losses/ties that changed.

Old Order New Order
Adaya's Hot Boys (W) Adaya's Hot Boys (W)
lawyerlee's Wildcats (W) Rhinestone Cowboys (W)
Rhinestone Cowboys (W) Cowgirls (W)**
Sinners&Saints (W) Lawyerlee's Wildcats (W)
Pookie's Powderpuffs (T) Sinners&Saints (W)
CowGirls (T) Pookie's Powderpuffs (L)**
St. Paul Reubens (L) St. Paul Reubens (L)
KC Bobbleheads (L) KC Bobbleheads (L)
Team Taz (L) Team Taz (L)
Texas Heat (L) Texas Heat (L)

So I need the Cowgirls and Pookie's Powderpuffs to agree to the change because it affected their win/loss record. If they don't agree, we'll go back to the old numbers and the week 1 records will go back to how they were pre-change.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! :)

mrs_pell
09-12-2006, 07:51 PM

PookiePrincess

TazLuv
09-15-2006, 06:41 PM
Pookie - I understand that but in the long run I think it will make the league more interesting - but you're the one it affects so its your call - let me know.

Thanks :)

scarlett
09-16-2006, 04:37 AM
Pookie - I understand too, but I think if you look at it, you probably ended up with more points after the changes. So, even though you went from a tie to a loss, you had more points. That would be a good thing for all future games. Do we really want to rely on our players getting touchdowns as the only way of getting significant points?

But, I do get that that was the way the league was set up and we really should have paid more attention to the scoring system before the first game was played. Like Taz said, you're the one the change affects, so let us know.

PookiePrincess
09-16-2006, 07:55 AM

TazLuv
09-17-2006, 10:05 AM
Yup, they're like drug dealers - get you addicted and then start charging. It's $9.95 so it just depends how addicted you are. :D

mrs_pell
09-17-2006, 10:40 AM
So I've decided after a quarter w/out it that I am addicted enough to pay for it, but they can't process it b/c:
Due to scheduled system maintenance activities, we cannot process your order at this time.
Please come back later. We apologize for this inconvenience.

WTF!! The first week, DURING THE FIRST FOOTBALL GAME, they're down for scheduled maintenance?!?!? Dumbasses!

TazLuv
09-17-2006, 04:26 PM
They're probably overloaded and just use that as an excuse. I can give everyone updates - I have it.

At the end of the 2nd round of games the scores are:

Team - Score - (Starters yet to play)

Team Taz - 103 (0)
Lawyerlee's Wildcats - 119 (0)
---------------
Sinners & Saints - 79 (2)
Rhinestone Cowboys - 88 (0)
-----------------
Pookie's Powderpuffs - 97 (2)
Texas Heat - 73 (1)
-----------------
St. Paul Reubens - 65 (1)
Cowgirls - 62 (3)

KC Bobbleheads - 98 (0)
Adaya's Hot Boys - 63 (2)

I'll update finals tomorrow night and records after week 2!

Here ya go! :) I was just coming in here to post this anyway. I'm honestly shocked how well my team did today! I didn't really expect to do well, much less get the highest points I've had all season! Especially when my QB got me all of TWO points  and I had to run out and pick up a RB since 2 of mine were on a bye week. DH was telling me to pick up Ron Dayne, but I picked up Travis Henry against his recommendation. Glad I didn't listen to him! :D

You know Adaya I noticed that you picked up a QB a couple of minutes after I did and I was wondering if you had thought about taking Rivers. Sorry about that but my QBs sucked and I'm certainly glad I had a premonition that McNair needed to be dropped (he did get knocked out in the 1st quarter today). However I forgot to actually change my lineup for the week and ended up playing my other crappy QB Brunell. Oh well.

It's all good. I was just leisurely changing my team around, not thinking that I should have been moving a little faster and should have picked up a QB first.

Silly me. It's crazy b/c both of the QBs on my team (Manning and Favre) were on a bye...go figure!

I'm actually going to win this week - yay! I've never had a fantasy team that is this bad.

Oh, honey...you may have spoken too soon! Because after the first half, you've actually lost 6 points w/Grossman and are down by 1!

Yep - I give up! I've never had a fantasy team that is this bad. How do you go into a game and lose when your QB has been scoring 12-24 points/week, against the Cardinals? WTF?? I give up!

I'm sorry. What a fluke thing to happen. :(

Grossman had such great weeks and then of all weeks he cuts a fool!

Taz ~ Girl!! You kicked ASS this week! You definitely made up some points!

I couldn't check anything until this morning b/c our internet was out (ALL WEEKEND!! ), but I knew it wasn't a good week for me just by knowing what my players did (or rather, didN'T do).

I was talking to a few guys at work today and it seems like it was just a weird week all around. Those that hadn't been doing well did great yesterday and those that had been doing well didn't do good yesterday. All of my normal point-scorers definitely weren't yesterday!

I'll post a screenshot of the final scores after the game (either tonight or after work tomorrow if no one does it first).

Here's the final scores from this week. I went from my best week last week to my worst week this week. Oh well! Next Sunday I'll be in Indiana at my parents house with no Sunday Ticket and no internet. I have no idea how I'm going to survive! ;)

Ok, start of the 4th quarter of MNF - I'm going to bed. I'm up by six, do you suppose my players can not screw it up enough that I'll still be up tomorrow? I doubt it.
