QOTD: Anyone not sick? I am feeling really pretty good lately. I am only 5w6d so I am not too far along but at this time with my son I was already feeling the effects of my m/s. I am still feeling tired and have some insomnia issues. Also the crampy feeling is still there although no where near as bad as last week. But of course I cannot just be happy that I am not sick with m/s I have to obsess over the fact that I haven't been sick yet. That the smell of my DH deoderant is making me gag and I haven't thrown up from the simple act of brushing my teeth. Am I alone?

Waving hand. I'm not sick either. I did get a little queasy this morning but that's about it. I keep waiting for it to kick in. Of course I can't help but obsess that b/c I"m not sick = something wrong. Ugh! I'm ready for the 2nd trimester! lol.

Lauren, I love both bedding choices! I saw that bumble bee bedding in person this weekend, it's so nice!! Wendy Bellisimo right? Also, congrats on feeling better today!! yay!

I've still been feeling sick, but I think it's mostly in the mornings now - with slight waves at various times of the day. Keeping myself fed has definitely helped. Yesterday, though, I felt like I was eating every hour - and I'd still be hungry. It was so frustrating!

I'm also slowly weeding out several articles of clothing from my wardrobe each day. Last week I was able to wear my favorite brown work pants with the top button undone, and this morning I couldn't barely get them zipped. Solution? Mom is taking me shopping tomorrow to get some maternity stuff! Woot! I work in a business attire building (suits, panty hose, heels) - so its been tough these last couple weeks to find things that still fit. Hopefully I'll score some nice enough stuff on sale.

Diedra, sorry to hear about your bloodwork. Hope it won't be a problem.

Tonysweetie, I agree on the bloating. Your uterus is still inside your pelvis at this point - if anything, it's starting to push up your other insides. Don't let anyone rub your belly yet, it's just you, not the baby :)

Lauren, that's a terrific combination, I really like them both.
I don't think we'll buy any new crib bedding, other than fitted sheets. DD's stuff was pretty neutral.
Any RO's getting a daybed for your older DC? Got pictures? DD will be 2-2.5 when we'll need the crib, but she's tall for her age, and might not fit in a toddler bed very long.

QOTD: We are trying to keep up our regular, non-baby-making schedule, so DH doesn't feel ignored. It's not easy - when I'm not too queasy, I'm just wiped out.

My digestion is so slow lately! Yesterday I could still feel my lunch in my belly 10 hours later. I ate a light dinner at 2 am.

I'm glad you all think it coordinates well! I've been stressing over coming up with ideas that aren't typical boy/girl rooms.

julie: Yep, it's Wendy Bellisimo. I fell in love. I think it's just adorable!

BusyBee: Like I said earlier, we bought DD a twin bed and have it pushed up against a wall. She hated the toddler bed and has done really well with a twin (she's been in it since March, she was 2 in December).

BusyBee: That is what I thought but my Mom seems to disagree, lol. :D I hear ya on the diegestion thing. I can eat and be sooo full for hours and hours then finally it goes away and I eat again and it starts all over again. I can eat something so small and feel like I just had a bowl of pasta.

My son is getting a whole brand new Big Boy Room including a BBB to match. He is currently in a convertible crib (toddler bed) we just transitioned him into about 3/4 months ago. He did really well with it. We are going to be putting him into a twin bed (pushed up against the wall) so that we can convert the toddler bed back into a crib. We shall see how well this transition goes. New room new bed, kinda scary.

Me!! Thankfully!!! Other than the spotting, I really haven't had any pregnancy signs, other than a couple of days of queasiness a few weeks ago. I'm good now, though!

morning sickness? Mine's been really off and on. I was pretty damn nauseated in week 6, but it's eased up now (week 9). That said, right this moment I feel awful -- so maybe I'm not out of the woods just yet.

Question for the RO's How are you able to tell when you're actually showing and it's not just intestinal bloat? Unfortunately, I think I'm still just bloated -- but eagerly anticipating a legitimate bump!

For me, I think if I were bloated then my belly would go away. Maybe I'm wrong, though. But this week (I'm 9 weeks, 10 on Monday) my belly hasn't gone anywhere. It's definitely sticking out and when I wear certain clothes you can definitely tell I'm pregnant. DH and my co-workers noticed it yesterday, too. I'll try to remember to take a picture this weekend and let you all judge. I do know that my regular clothes do not fit at all, unless they're elastic waisted. I've bought a few maternity things in small sizes so they'll fit now. The pants are a little loose, but not as bad as 2 weeks ago when I bought them. That also tells me that it's not bloating.

MIL just called and she's taking Ava tonight and keeping her until Sunday! I'm so excited! We never get time alone!

lauren I love your bedding choices. You could stay with a bug theme either way. If it's a boy add some snails, centipeeds, etc. to the baby side, butterflies & lady bugs for a girl.

We plan on transitioning DS to a big boy bed after Christmas. He'll be 18mo. I'm concerned it's too early. I talked to other moms who said to just use the full size bed we have rather than buying more stuff. So I think we'll try that. If not, I may try to get another crib/convertible bed second hand since I don't think he'll be in it that much longer. I'm hoping to do his room with puppy dogs or a transportation theme. I'm excited about that since the nursery isn't getting redone.

QOTD not sure if I'm showing or bloated but I know the cute jeans I bought after I lost my baby weight just don't fit at all. I'm currently in my bigger pre-preg jeans from last time. Probably moving to my elastic waist transitional stuff soon. It's hard because last time I was working and now I'm a SAHM. The wardrobe I need for toddler messes is different than what I wore to work. :)

lauren... i love the bedding too... and totally agree that a garden theme is not lost... just add more trees/turtles/frogs for the boy side and maybe not go too crazy with the pink flowers and butterflies... i remember seeing a really adorable room, no clue where of course, but the bottom of the wall was all white pickets with some grass/flowers visible...few trees/bugs/birds.... very neutral, very cute. i'll see if i can remember where...

We currently have Nic on a twin mattress on the floor in the nursery. I am trying to plan out his big boy bedroom so we can move him in come January (that's the majority of his christmas present, actually...all room stuff. boring i know, but i dont think he'll know the difference...he's still REALLY into boxes.) Anyway, I REALLY want to do a dinosaur theme for him (none with teeth, just the fun friendly ones) because he LOVES the book Dinosaur Roar -- so it would be based off that. Lots of trees/stones/grass... fade to yellow background (like in the book.) I want dh to make a variation of this bed:http://www.customplayhouses.com/Theme%20Beds/aidens1.jpg
only I can't figure out how to change it to be dinosaur themed.. (i like that the bed is basically surrounded so when we move an 19 month old into it, he won't fall out... and the bed can be the bottom or the top, so if we need to move nic up to the top and move a lil brother into the bottom...thats easy to do... and both are secure enough for me to be ok with bunk beds :)
Anyway, thats my current dilemma... of course, I may have to change my theme to be more camping or maybe safari...

My other concern is that our nursery (which i adore) is very busy. Nic has never slept in his crib. He hates it with a passion. He went from the amby baby hammock (which is kind of closed in, so he couldnt really check the walls out too much from it) to the mattress on the floor. He still doesn't sleep through the night at 15 months. I'm just not sure if thats because the room is too busy, or if its just him... if its because of the walls, I'd hate to move him into another room with the same problem...

ok, enough rambling from me now... (topic near to my heart at the moment...)

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

happy1 & lil_nance: Thank you for suggesting the great boy ideas for me! DH and I were talking earlier and so lost for what to do. But I love the idea of snails, frogs, and turtles! Thank you both so much :).

Happy, I love the idea of dinosaurs! You could still use that bed, I think, only maybe make it look like a cave or something? Maybe watch Ice Age or The Land Before Time with your son to get some ideas.

Hi all...

I've had a busy week trying to close out my old job...I'm starting a new one next week. Fortunately they won't be ready for me to start until Thursday, so I'll get a little break to recouperate. It's taken me forever to catch up on all the posts! But it's exciting to see how this community is growing.

I had my first doctor's appointment and it went well. No ultrasounds here. Only one at 20 weeks. But I did find out that my doctor's office offers the 3D/4D ultrasound. Has anyone here done that before? DH and I are very intrigued! :)

clothes
I, like Annielynn, also lost about 30 pounds over the last 6 months. So I have clothes in a wide variety of sizes, but I'm kind of in between right now. It's frustrating because my current pants feel too tight, but the next size up is too big. And I'm concerned with clothes for my new job because it will require more professional dress than my old job. I'm thinking I might just hit Kohl's or Target for some cheap clothes with elastic waistbands (gah, elastic waistbands??) to tide me over until it's time for maternity clothes. Also in desperate need of new bras already...

intimacy
This is pg #1 for us so I was REALLY nervous to be intimate with DH. We have a couple of times, but I'm always really nervous about it. I know there really isn't any reason to be.

sick?
I have mild nausea off and on throughout the day, but usually eating a little snack helps. Also taking my prenatals at lunch instead of breakfast helps. Maybe because it's a bigger meal? My problem is more that EVERYTHING sounds good. I was watching the MTV VMAs and Jack Black said something about mustard. I was instantly craving hot dogs. I'm so susceptible to suggestions right now! It's driving DH crazy.

Oh, and my next appointment is September 26th!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! I'm not too worried that the antibody will cause problems, but it's so unsettling to hear something like that at all. I'll hopefully be able to setup the consultation appointment with the high-risk OB sometime next week.
---
clothes - I'm currently wearing the biggest size of regular clothes that I have. Unfortunately my options are very limited - a pair of jean shorts and a pair of khakis. I tried wearing some of my maternity pants last weekend and those are still too big.

intimacy - Poor DH :(. I'm just feeling too sick all the time.

Lauren : That bedding is so cute. I would also like to do a neutral theme and kind of customize with pinks/purples for a girl or blues/greens for a boy. This will be our first so I hope I can do one nursery and use it for this baby and any more:)
Happy1:That bed is awesome, hats off to your DH too for being able to build something like that.

Yesterday was my first appt. They confirmed the pg with a urine test. Basically it was a lot of information & questions between me and the doc. My next appt is 9/15 and will be the ultrasound!!!!
Also my LMP was 7/14 which should make me due on 4/20. The doctor gave me a due date of 4/21. I asked about this and she said we would be able to date it better after the ultrasound. Does anyone else have a changing due date?

Happy Labor Day everyone! Hope you all have a relaxing long weekend!

Hey Ladies-

I just got my Bella Bands http://www.bellaband.com/ in the mail and I instantly put one on with my favorite pair of jeans (that I haven't been to wear in a few weeks.) Genius! I can already tell I will be living in these things!

For those of you stressing about not being able to fit into anything anymore, yet maternity clothes are still too big, maybe give one of these a try.

BTW, prior to pg, I was a solid size 6 and the small Bella Band fits perfectly...not to tight, yet not too big.

Have a nice weekend!

What Are People Eating for Breakfast?

Hi Ladies--

I'm having a hard time "filling up" in the morning which means m/s has been strong and hard to avoid. I am particularly worried as I will be starting school next week and will be in class all day. I want to at least be able to get through my first class without having to stuff my face the entire time.

Recently I've been eating a bowl of cereal and some fruit in the morning but that hasn't nearly been enough to fill me up. I'm hungry within an hour of eating. I don't want to resort to having an over-the-top carb fest (bagels, muffins, waffles etc.) every morning cause that's just not a habit I want to start.

Do any of you drink protein shakes? Do you have recommendations for nutritious, yet filling breakfast food? Please share!

Thanks!

Breakfast foods: Pre-pg, I was eating oatmeal with frozen berries and hemp seeds. It was pretty filling, stick to your ribs kinda stuff. Now, I can't eat it.. although I do make it for Nic in the am (some days are more challenging than others) - I usually just have cold cereal, but I hear ya on the not filling thing... We usually have a snack soon after - usually just fruit...

Maybe just add some nuts in somewhere? My mw's are big on adding them - something about the oils in them sit in your tummy longer so it helps keep queasiness at bay...

:)

herewego - I was having the same problem last week with breakfast. I started adding a little bowl of cottage cheese in addition to my bowl of cereal and that seemed to do the trick. The protein in the cottage cheese kept me full and also eased my stomach a bit.

Good Morning everyone! For breakfast I usually have cereal if I don't feel like it will keep me full then I might have a 2nd but only have 1/2. Sometimes I"ll eat something with the cereal. Well I hope everyone has a great Labor Day! God Bless!!! :D

Breakfast: I've been bad. I really haven't been eating breakfast. During the week, I just take a yogurt shake with me to work. I've never been a big breakfast fan and I just haven't started yet. Sometimes I have a bagel with cream cheese. *eek*

Breakfast: I'm not a breakfast person either. Normally I skip it, but since getting pregnant I eat something or I'll feel sick right away instead of a few hours later. I keep bagels and cream cheese at work and someone up there always has fruit, too. Sometimes I'll have some cereal at home or a muffin, if I have time to make them.

DH has today off work and DD has no school. It's cool and rainy here, first it's been like this since April! Ava and I baked some cookies this morning. We're about to make a Blockbuster run and then the 3 of us are planning on camping out in the bedroom, enjoying the rain and a movie.

Breakfast: DH, DD and I always eat breakfast and it's even more necessary for me to eat it now than before. I have bananas on my nightstand and I eat one the minute I wake up. Then we'll eat our usual breakfast of cereal or oatmeal or a bagel. We've been going out to breakfast more lately and then I'll have strawberry crepes and bacon. No matter what, I'm usually snacking on fruit with DD about an hour later.

Evening! I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! DH and I housesit for FIL and spent time with family all weekend. We had a nice time. It was almost like a mini vacation, lol. I started feeling a little sick the past 2 days but nothing too bad. My bb's keep getting off and on sore. Is anyone else noticing that? Like they'll be fine in the morning then be sore by night? Last week they were constant sore. I'm seriously out of every pair of pants I have except anything elastic waisted. How long does this bloating last? I seriously could wear maternity pants w/o a problem.

Yup, I think the ol' m/s has finally kicked in. It was like I hit 6 weeks and BAM! I have been feeling like crap every since. :( I think I am going to try the B6 vitamin with the Unisom trick and see how it works.

I don't know if anyone remembers my ear ringing thing, but I got very very very sick on Friday with Vertigo (sp?). I could not keep anything down all day, not even water. So, DH came home from work and saw me still sick and took me to the ER to get some fluids in me. Poor guy was so worried about the baby! The doc gave me a prescription for some anti-nausea pills...but he only gave me 12 pills total, so after they run out, I will try the B6 vitamin. I would not wish how sick I was on my worst enemy! It was that bad. :(

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!

Great belly shots Married! I can definitely tell a difference now. :)

I think I will post my 9 week belly shots later on today. I took some on Saturday and there is definitely a difference!

And....(knock on wood) my m/s seems to be subsiding! Over the weekend, and today as well... I have only felt a twinge of nausea in the morning. And my aversions for food have greatly subsided. YAY!

MarriedaGoalie Definately see a baby there :) !

AllyLeigh I hope the medication makes you feel better!

Tonysweetie Yes, my BB's are on and off sore, right now there are very sore. It's the milk ducts increasing in size :).

Breakfast I usually eat whatever I feel like, mostly carbs, can't stand eggs right now. I usually just try to eat small meals throughout the day.

lauren f s Ohhh, you are starting to show as well!

happy1nuv How cute, love that bed. Maybe you can make it into a straw hut in the jungle and do jungly stuff with the dinosaurs?

Toddler Bed We have already purchase a twin bedset for DS. We have not moved him into it yet, but hopefully will soon. Right now it's just sitting in his room.

Showing I am not sure for myself. A lot of my pants are getting rather snug, I have about 2-3 pants left that are decent. I made myself a bella band and will try it out to help. I am not sure if it's bloating or not as a 2nd timer. I know the 1st time I was in maternity at 16 weeks or so. I anticipate maternity this time at 10 weeks, if not earlier. Oh well. I am just going to wear what is comfortable.

SO I have my perinatologist appt tomorrow, so wish me luck. This will be the u/s that determines if we continue or not. I know last week we saw the HB but since nothing was measured, I am not sure how things are going. Plus, we have been fooled before. But, I am going to be optimistic and pray everything is good.

Other than that m/s and allergies are kicking my ass!

I'm feeling pretty good for 7 weeks. Still no m/s. I get a wave every now and then but other than that feeling great. My bb's are back to being sore but that could change b/c they weren't yesterday. My bloating finally went away so I'm back to my regular stomach self with a very small bump towards my lower tummy. YAY! I pretty much feel normal other than be a tad more tired. I wonder if this is how it's gonig to be or will the yucky stuff ever kick in. I sorta want something to happen so I know things are progressing ya know? I'm counting down the weeks until my next dr. apt. It's on the 25th. Well I hope everyone had a great weekend. God Bless!!!!

I'm feeling okay today. Not 100% but I really can't remember what that feels like anymore ;). I'm trying to nibble on food whenever I start to feel queasy and so far that's helping.

I'm trying to talk DH out of finding out the baby's sex. He's not going for it. I'm 95% sure this is a boy. I just have a feeling, much like I knew DD was going to be a girl. My main reason for finding out the sex was deciding how to decorate the baby's room since it'll be shared with Ava. But we have that solved. I'm going to continue working on him. At any rate, we have agreed to keep our name choices a secret (we have them picked). MIL is going nuts, but she'll just have to deal.

I'm pretty sure we'll be finding out. I think Mom's know with instinct. I'm convienced were having a girl. DH is hoping for a boy. MIL is sure it's a boy b/c she had a boy first and so did my Mom but I'm so sure I'm having a girl. Either way I'm be totally thrilled!

Mmmmm, just had a ceasar salad, one of the make you own salad packages in the salad isle. Yummy, the dressing was good & vinegary, just what I needed, something tart. That and the roasted BBQ chicken, helped settle the stomach. My probelm is that I have a constant bad taste in my mouth and if I can get rid of it, it usually helps. Vinegar helped me last time as well.

UGH! I'm so tired of feeling like I have a constant hangover! All day today, I've tried to keep myself from getting sick, so I sit in front of my kids, praying I don't spontaneously barf.

I didn't feel this way with DC #1. I was violently ill in the evening for exactly one month and then it passed. With this one, though, I'm sick almost constantly.

I had a dream last night that this baby was another boy. For some reason, we were calling him "Duncan," which is not even on our name last. I just remember very vividly that I saw DS walking (which he doesn't do yet) with another little boy of the same coloring crawling behind him. Maybe this is a sign.

All of the ladies with the queasies, I feel for you.

Thinking about you today, Jeggink, and hope you get some good news.

Myshel, my baby dreams, though rare, also have a very clear name which is totally random, too. Of course, that get's me to really consider that name, too. Just days before my BFP with DD, it was a little blonde boy named Tommy. Last Christmas, when I was not pg, it was a dark-haired baby Evan. For the first half of my pregnancy with DD, I was fairly sure it was a boy. So much for my intuition.

Lauren, it drove our moms nuts that we wanted to be surprised. My MIL asked us after every appointment if we found out the gender yet, even though I explained that the 20w u/s was our only chance, after that there was no way to find out early even if we wanted to.

Hope everyone's m/s is improving. I'm haveing the hardest time with my prenatals - just thinking about them makes me feel sick.
Mmm, cottage cheese. I love the ones with the friut jam on the side - I have to pick some up. Along with some nuts. And maybe Flintstones vitamins, too.

Busybee: Good luck with those prenatels. I know what you mean. Ugh!

When I got up this morning as soon as I put my feet on the floor and stood up I got so queasy and it did't go away until I sat down and ate some cereal. I wonder if this is going to be my m/s? DH and I made a baby name list last night and we have it on the fridge. Everytime we think of a name we like we put it on the list under boy or girl. Then if we find out the sex we'll narrow it down. Were 99% sure on our boy name which is so exciting! Well I hope everyone has a great day. God Bless!!!

I don't think DH will be talked out of wanting to know and I'm okay with that. He said I could have it be a surprise, but he's terrible with surprises and I'd know within a day. I'm happy with keeping our names a secret anyway.

I had a Mrs. Baird's cinnamon roll with Doritos on top for breakfast. I know it sounds awful but it was really delicious.

Oh man am I ever craving a burger king jr. whopper and fries right now. That is been my thing this week! I seriously think I'm going to be sick if I don't get one. lol It's so pathetic! Why can't I just crave salad.

tonysweetie ~ I hear ya. I'm craving a gyro. Gotta have a gyro. (I actually called my mom and coerced her into meeting Nic and me at the mall for lunch so I could get my gyro... yummm.... (So, when am I gonna crave salad? Ha, don't think THAT is gonna happen...)

Finding out ~ My mom was sure that we had found out, but just weren't sharing... (We honestly didn't last time). This time, we're finding out, and we told everyone that we were... but, I kind of wish we hadn't said that - We are finding out, but I don't think I want to broadcast baby's gender ahead of time... shoulda just said we weren't finding out again... oh well...

I'm LOL with the cravings in here...

This morning I was craving a big plate of donuts. You know, the really sugary/icing-covered kind from dunkin donuts. I never. eat. donuts. EVER! It was the most random craving I've had yet, I think. I didn't give in to this craving... thank goodness!

Besides the random donuts, I have been craving alot of milk, yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese. You name it. Also, anything containing vinegar... bring it on. I think someone mentioned BBQ yesterday and it's been on my brain ever since!

jeggink- I'm also thinking of you today!

oops - almost forgot, I have on my first pair of maternity pants today.... and I've been officially converted. :D :D I scored a great deal at motherhood and the pants fit me great. I have a long stride and they are *perfect* in the length. I was super-pleased. My mom was gracious enough to take me on a maternity shopping spree last weekend, and I couldn't resist trying everything out! We scored the most at Motherhood. Then we found some steals at JC Penney. Even thought their maternity section was tiny - the shirts were like $5-6 each! Then onto target, where I got a few more "stylish" items, etc. Mama hooked me up!!

I'm chiming in kind-of late on the breakfast question! I recently found that Protein, protein, protein is the key for me. If I get a good amount of protein at breakfast, the m/s is almost non-existant for me. I've been doing homemade Egg Sandwiches - 2 fried eggs, 2 slices of Canadian Bacon, a slice of cheese on a toasted whole wheat English Muffin. Hits the spot and has staying power.

Speaking of m/s, it looks like I finally found the right combo of tricks to ease the suffering. Either that or it's just time for that bit to be over (I'm 8.5 weeks today). I've been feeling human again for the last few days, knock on wood. My 2 new methods - drinking lots of water during the day and making sure I eat a good portion of protein at each meal (have I mentioned that yet ;)).

I still haven't received a call from the high-risk OB for our consult on the kell antibody stuff. I was giving them an extra day to account for the long weekend, but it looks like I need to call my OBs office to let them know they need to light some fires on the other end.

I think I'm finally starting to feel better. The last few days I've had more energy and my nausea is getting better. It still comes on strong out of no where but I don't have that all day long hangover feeling. I hope I'm done with that!

The weird thing is that I'm having total smell aversion to the rental house that we're staying in. It doesn't stink, but it has a unique smell to it, to me anyway. When I walk in the door it hits me like a ton of bricks every time and I have to run to the sink. It's getting worse, too. I need to get some heavily scented candles or potpouri for the entry way ASAP. At least we're only here one more month.

diedra, I think the protein thing is a great idea. I always feel better after a meal like that.

Congrats Jeggink!! I am glad that everything is looking good.

I haven't been around here much lately. You guys should consider yourselves lucky, I have been a super bitch lately! These hormones are killing me. I had my second ultrasound tonight and everything looked great. The baby was waving its little arms around and I got to see/hear the heartbeat. I am definately feeling a little more at ease now. It was so awesome!

Arebody feeling like this pregnancy is racing by? I can't believe in less than a month the 2nd trimester begins! I am not sure if it is because I am working this time and I wasn't last time or what.

Anyway, threadmistresses, can you update my due date to April 14 and my next dr appointment is on September 27. Thanks!

Cohl: I'm glad everything went well with the ultrasound. That is great! I'm anxious to have one. It seems like everyone is having them so early. I only get one at 17 weeks when we find out the gender.

That brings up a question: Does anyone else only get 1 ultrasound unless there is a reason to have another?

Tonysweetie

Quick question. This may be TMI but I'm a bit worried. I just went to the restroom and noticed a very very very small amount of CM on the toilet paper and it was very lightly greenish colored. It almost looked like a light green bugger (I know gross but I don't know how else to explain it). I noticed this a couple days ago too. It's a super small amount though. Should I be worried? I did some reserach on google and found all this scary stuff that I probably shouldn't be reading. I just had a pap test done last week adn haven't heard anything. I'm not having any signs of infection. Is this normal during pregancy or what? TIA!

I am only get one at 20wks, no more. :( Unless my OB feels that I need one. My last Pg I didn't get my u/s until 22wks. I was so jealous of everyone else getting 2 and even 3. I am sure that it will be the same thing this time.

Tonysweetie I am not sure about your question. It couldn't hurt to call the OBs office. Just in case.

Cohl Congrats on your great u/s sorry to hear that you are being bitchy. Damn hormones! ;-) I have noticed that this PG is racing by. I thought for sure it was because I have an 22 month old at home. I don't have to time to sit and think about it.

jeggink - I am so very happy to hear about your great u/s. What an exciting day for you and your family! I hope that you feel better today than yesterday.

I am feeling pretty queasy again today. The eating usually helps a little bit but not too much. I really don't have an appetite for anything. I just don't know what I want to eat.

I am really looking forward to this weekend. My Dh and I are taking tomorrow off from work to spend some quality family time together. My birthday is one Sunday so that was the major reason. It is going to be a great weekend! And the best part is that after this weekend I will finally get to go to my first OB appt. It is scheduled for the 13th at 10:10am. Very exciting times! :)

Thanks for the support ladies!!

Tonysweetie If you have had a recent pap, I would worry about it. If it was an infection, it should pick it up. If I remember correctly I had that with DS also. If you get worried though, ask the dr at your next appt.

Cohl Glad your u/s went fantastic as well!

Ultrasounds I am high risk and was also with DS so that is why I have more u/s. I am expected to have 3 more, 12 weeks for the neuchal fold test, 20 weeks and 30 weeks.

Here is a picture of my bean
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v630/jeggink/baby4edtited.jpg

You can even see the arm or leg buds starting :D! I did find out that the corpus luteum on my ovary is starting to collapse, so that means the placenta will be starting to take over soon!

So all in all, that went well. I can't believe I am having a baby, it feels so much more real now. Last night I was actually a bit scared of having 2 now since I really haven't allowed myself to feel this pg was real. Even Dan last night called his mom with the news right after I talked to him, he is so excited in his own way. He loves Joseph so much and I can see that he will love another one so much. He is such a great dad.

Anyway, very quesy still today. When someone explained it like a never ending hangover, that is the correct terminology for me as well! protein does help, but I am having aversions to a lots of stuff.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great day!

U/S's: I am supposed to have 2, at 16 and 28 weeks. But I had some cramping at 7 weeks and my dr wanted to get one to make sure the pregnancy wasn't ectopic. With DD I had one at 10 weeks and was told I wouldn't get another, but DH's family has genetic heart problems and we had another at 24-ish weeks to check Ava's heart, but also to find out the sex.

Cohl: I thought I was the only bitchy one! It's horrible, isn't it? I feel so bad for my co-workers and husband but I can't help it. I'm awful to be around. Work has been so stressful lately and I'm lucky that everyone here is being so understanding.

jeggink: I'm so happy that everything went well!!

Annie: Happy early birthday! I hope you guys have a great long weekend.

Tonysweetie: If it worries you, call your dr. I've had a lot of CM this whole pregnancy, but nothing that I'd consider abnormal. Give your dr a call, that's what he's there for.

I'm feeling okay now, but I always feel good in the mornings. I'm craving salty foods, I've noticed. I can't seem to get enough pretzels or bbq chips and I used to love sweet tea but now it can't have any sugar or it tastes awful to me.

I'm feeling decent today. I woke up and got the queasies again but I felt better after I ate. I think I need to keep crackers by the bed from now on. Other than that and my sore bb's I'm feeling pretty good. The fatigue seemed to go away for a while. It comes and goes it seems like. Nothing big planned for today just grocery shopping then going to MIL house tonight for a cookout. Fun stuff! I hope everyone has a great Thursday. God Bless!!!

I just had THE best most fablous lunch EVER! lol. I was craving Taco Bell big time. So I ran some arrands and on my way home I went through the drive thru and got myself the number 3 that has 3 supreme soft tacos. Oh yummy! Then I had a coke to go with it. My first regular coke! It was delightful! Everything at home just sounded disgusting to me and made me feel yuck so I had to have it. Now I'm about to go grocery shopping which is sorta hard since nothing sounds good, lol.

jeggink - I'm happy to see your news! congrats on the healthy bean!

I thought my m/s was overwith.... well, I was wrong. Today after my breakfast, I was saying goodbye to DH and I started coughing. Before I knew it I was getting rid of my breakfast in the toilet. I was all dressed for work and everything too. So I had to just pat down my face, brush my teeth and head out the door. I didn't feel "right" all morning.

I'm headed to Rhode Island tomorrow for a family reunion, and I'm excited to share the "news" with the rest of the family. Should be fun! :)

U/S's: I had one at 6w6d to date my pregnancy. I think she'll do another at my 11.5 week appt to make sure everything is on schedule. Then after that they'll just do the level II u/s at 20 weeks.

Hi girls! We had an OB appointment earlier this week and we heard the heartbeat on the doppler -- so exciting!! I finally feel like I can stop all the silly worrying and just be happy about this pregnancy. :D

ultrasounds I've had two already because of all the spotting I had in the beginning, and apparently I'll be having 3-4 more to keep an eye on the small fibroids I have. Anyone else have fibroids? My doctor didn't seem particularly concerned about them, so I'm trying not to be either (they were unrelated to the bleeding I had).

Just a quick drive by.... Man has it been hectic here!

We had our U/S on Tuesday and I measured exactly on at 9w2d. Due Date is officially 4/8/07 - Easter Sunday! Everything is looking fine, heartbeat was 171 bpm and we saw our little bean wiggling around!

It was great to see that there was a baby in there, because I swear I don't feel PG. I've had almost no MS, fatigue yes but DS#1 isn't sleeping well.... Crazy wild dreams are all that remind me that I am PG.

DH is home from class - GTG!

Anyone else have fibroids?I do! I actually had surgery to remove 4 fibroids 2 months before my first pregnancy then had a new fibriod pop up during my pregnancy. My OB closely monitored me with ultrasounds up until I hit about 24 weeks because the fibroid basically grew 1cm in each direction every month up until then. It topped out at cantalope size then shrunk down a little bit before I delivered DD. It made me look like I was carrying twins, but it never harmed the baby or anything like that.

Whoa!!! So glad everything turned out fine for you. I think mine are quite small, and hopefully not growing as quickly as yours did. My doctor said we'd "sprinkle in" a few more ultrasounds to keep an eye on them.

Good Morning! Happy Friday everyone. Feeling decent today. I ate some crackers before getting out of bed thinking maybe that would help me from feeling so queasy when I first get up. Well it did help but I can still feel waves every now and then. I about killed my cat this morning. She and my other one were rough housing and she jumped on the bed and walked right over my lower stomach and it hurt! I pushed her off me. I hope she didn't hurt anything. No big plans for this weekend. Today I have to finish a bunch of homework then tonight DH and I are going over to his Grandmothers for dinner and games. Should be fun! His aunt and his cousins leave tomorrow then my grandparents will be here. The shuttle is suspose to launch today so I'm sure DH is busy at work right now. I pray it launches safely!!! Well I better go get a shower and get ready for the day before the launch in about an hour. God Bless!!!

I have another question. Is anyone else worried about their DH reaction to the gender. DH is so set on having a boy and I'm so sure it's a girl. So I'm a little worried that he'll be disppointed if it's a girl. I even overheard him talking to his Mom last night that he is excited if its' boy b/c he can relate to a boy better. Far as taking him to sports etc. but a girl he can't. His Mom kept say "oh you'll be excited either way" whenever I talk to him about it he gets bummed out whenever I say but "honey it might be a girl" which I think it is. I personally am fine with whatever gender we get. As long as he or she is happy and healthy that is all I'm concerend about. I'm a little concerned about him though. :(

Tonysweetie: My DH desperately wanted Ava to be a boy. He wasn't as thrilled as I was when we had our big u/s, but after time he became more excited, especially when it came to picking out the pretty little dresses and girly things for her room. Now, Ava is 2.5 and her Daddy is wrapped so tight around her little finger. Don't even let yourself get upset if you or DH are disappointed by the baby's sex. Whatever that baby is, he'll be thrilled once it's here.

Tony's Sweetie: I know that your DH will be thrilled with whatever child ends up in your arms. It does take time to adjust to another way of thinking, but he'll come around.

DH, I think, could care less about gender. I'm probably the one who's more concerned with it, but in the end, I just car about a healthy baby.

I felt great yesterday-- no m/s! This morning, though, ugh! I was sick, which threw off my whole routine and that of DH and DS. I feel bad sometimes because I'm depending on DH a lot these days, but he's taking it in stride.

DH could care less about the gender, as long as it's healthy. I think I'm the one that has more of a preference. I'll be happy as long as it's healthy, don't get me wrong, but I do have a preference.

Happy Friday Ladies-

I can't believe I only have one more week until I hit the second trimester (my EDD is 4/1)-I'm so excited and relieved to get out of the "danger zone" (even though I know things could happen any time...)

Feeling pretty good this week. M/S eased thank goodness and today was the first morning that I woke up and didn't feel like I needed to stuff something down my throat right away. Good signs all around.

Still struggling with heartburn and constipation though. The intestinal issues and everything that comes with them (GAS! yikes!) have been more painful than m/s in my opinion. I've been taking Colace at night which seems to help, but overall I'm left feeling bloated and in pain most of time.

Is anyone else up to pee all night long? This has truly sucked-especially now that I am back to school/work. I don't have the luxury of sleeping in anymore! I am up 3-5 times a night to pee and it's so disruptive. I'm finding that really difficult to get used to. I'm exhausted.
______________
Genetic Testing
One thing I wanted to ask people about, especially RO's is genetic screening/testing. I don't think it's come up yet here in our little forum. I'm schedule for a nuchal translucency ultrasound on Thursday and am looking forward to seeing the baby again! Has anyone had this before? What was your experience? Pros? Cons? What other testing are you thinking about or have you had? I'm trying to educate myself as much as I can on all the tests out there.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Gender preference - Neither of us has one. It surprised me how many people tried to console DH when we found out our first was a girl. EVERYONE assumed that he really wanted a boy, so he had to keep explaining that he was excited about a girl (even to his own mother  ).

Genetic Testing - The nuchal transulcency u/s in the first trimester is a new procedure since I had DD. Last time, we just had the level II u/s at 20 weeks. If I want to have it, I have to go to another hospital to have it done. As it happens, I already have an appointment for an u/s at the other hospital next week (for the kell antibody stuff). If they can do the nuchal screening at the appointment that I already have set up, then I'll do it - otherwise I'll just stick with the level II u/s in the second trimester. I feel comfortable just doing the basic testing (level II u/s and the AFP blood screen, I think are the basics) based on our family history of no genetic problems.

Married: I hope that spotting goes away for good soon. Maybe you have the low placenta thing. I'm sorry I forget the technical term for it? Maybe ask your doc about it. Feel better and rest up! :) God Bless!!!

We just got back from DH grandmothers and she made pasta and it was soooo good! But she also made some broc. to go with it and the look of it just made me realize I don't do brocoli, lol! So far this week I no longer eat wheat bagels, burgers, brocoli or little debbie cakes. The though of any of that just makes me cringe. Funny b/c those are things I ate normally besides the little debbie cakes. I hope everyone has a great evening. God Bless!!!

We went to my Dr.'s apppointment yesterday. She was running late, so the nurse deicded to try to find the HB while we were waiting, knowing that it's still pretty early to hear it. We did - 160 - what a nice surprise!
I O'd about a week late, so I told her I was around 9 weeks, instead of 10 1/2. The u/s confirmed it. So my new due date is April 14, one week before DD's birthday!

She did notice some blood from the placenta, and said I should expect some bleeding in the next few days, and not to worry. As long as there is no cramping, it will be fine. She also saw a cycst on the umbilical cord and asked me to go to the hospital next week for another u/s to monitor it. That will be 8/13.
I really wish I didn't have so many so I wouldn't have to think about it. I know my OB is ultra-conservative, and she even said it's usually nothing and I shouldn't worry. She wanted me to do the 2nd u/s ASAP in case the cyst disappeared before then, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

With DD, my entire pregnancy, except for that surprise breech c-section, was so smooth and easy.

Before my doctor spoke with us, they sent us back to the waiting room while she spoke with the u/s tech. I told DH they just wanted to use big words without us freaking out over what are they talking about!?

* * * *
We're going to share the news this weekend! My parents and probably my sister will be coming over this evening. I'll say she has a surpirse, which they'll think is her new tooth (1st molar), but she'll be wearing her "I'm going to be a big sister" t-shirt. :)
We'll do the same with my MIL on Sunday.
My dad is going to Poland this week to see his mother and a lot of other family, so he will have a nice surpise to bring, too. (He asked me to get a picture of the tooth :D You'd be lucky to see it, let alone photograph it!)

Yeterday, we told DD that she was getting a little brother or sister, and she bobbed up and down with joy, as if she understood :D. Probably figures anything she'd getting is worth the excitement.

* * * *
Tonysweetie, a little girl will be just as excited about sports and trucks as any little boy. I've seen adorable pink baby Yankees caps. He's just starting to get used to the idea of any baby. Let him dream about his son for a while, then he'll suddenly think, what if it's a girl?

For the first half of my pregnnacy, we though it was a boy, the 2nd half girl, and the last month DH switched back to boy becasue she was beating me up so much :). My mother wanted a girl so badly, I think her prayers did it.

Testing - we didn't do the nuchal translucency and will skip it again. Like Diedra, the basic testing is enough for us. With all the uncertainty, I don't need to think about even small risks.
We will do the AFP or triple test around 16 weeks, which is just a blood test. They measure the amount of fetal proteins in the mother's blood, so the age of the fetus is very important. With DD, the level II u/s showed a small cyct on the brain, which disappears more than 95% of the time, but can be an indicator of a trisonomy-(can't remember which). My AFP showed the risk to be 1 in 10,000. which was a big, instant relief.

We just told my family this evening. Everybody's thrilled.

My mom read DD's shirt out loud, hugged me first, then turned to DD and said "You're going to have a little sister! Isn't that wonderful - a little girl to play with!" Whoa, Mom! She does understand now that it might be a boy. She'll be happy with either, she got a tiny bit carried away! I said we probably won't find out, which is ok with them, for now.

Then she told me about her friend's son, who is my age, who had a baby, then twins, and are now expecting their 4th child, and did she mention yet, he's my age. :) My sister better get married soon to take some pressure off me!

My sister called all her friends to say she was going to be an aunt again. One of them said, me too!

Edited to add my u/s photo at 9 weeks. (http://render2.snapfish.com/render2/is=Yup6aQQ%7C%3Dup6%3DzqH%3AxxqUD7qRUrKxzX7BHpUUKx gXPPe%3F87KR6xqpxQQP0xoPJxePPxv8uOc5xQQQolleonnPGa qpfVtB%3F*KUp7BHSHqqy7XH6gXPPe%7CRup6GG0%7C/of=50,590,407) The head is on the right and we are looking at baby's back.

BusyBee: I'm so happy everyone was so happy. Too funny about your Mom, lol. That ultrasound pic is so cute!!! Congrats!

Well Mom took me out tonight to get new clothes and right when we got to target I went to bathroom and I was spotting a little internally. I freaked out and got sooo nervous. I kept going to the bathroom and I hope its' gone for good. I'm a little more causious now. I hope it was just a fluke. After the scare Mom bought me lots of clothes. I got 2 pair of maternity capri pants, 2 spag. maternity tops, and 3 other cute tops, and a black skirt. I also got my shoes for a wedding I'm in December. I got everything for under 100 bucks. My Mom is so good to me. She wouldn't let me pay for anything except my shoes. She even bought me dinner at Chick Fil La. We had sooo much fun! She was having a blast buying me all the stuff. hehe. When we were in Sears the lady in front of us had a new baby. It looked maybe 6 weeks old. It was sooo cute! I think it was a boy but I wasn't sure. So cute!!!! :) Well I hope everyone has a great night. Pray the spotting doesn't make a return and I have no more scares! God Bless!!!

I hope everyone that's having spotting sees it go away very soon.

DD's new bedding was delivered on Friday. We ordered from an Ebay store and it's 10 times more beautiful than the pictures online. It has much more detail and intricate designs to it. I'm in love (and she is too). They have bumblee bedding I adore, but it's a little girly. I think if the baby's a girl, we'll order from them. A boy, we'll go with Wendy Bellisimo. Here's a link to the Ebay store. They have lots of cute designs and I cannot say enough good things about DD's bedding: Beyond Bedding (http://stores.ebay.com/Beyond-Bedding).

I'm feeling okay. We ran a lot of errands yesterday and I think all that constant moving and going wore me out a little. I took a 2 hour nap with Ava when we got home! We're planning a trip to the park and Barnes & Noble this afternoon. Otherwise I plan to relax and take it easy.

I also wanted to ask if anyone was interested in joining Marriedagoalie & me in being threadmistress? Right now I mostly get on here while working and in the next month I'm going to be extremely busy at work until after Christmas and I know I won't be able to get on here to update often and I'd feel pretty bad leaving all that on Married's shoulders. If anyone would like to help, just say so or PM me!

Gender ~ DH couldnt care, as long as baby is healthy. I really want a healthy baby too, but I'd LOVE a girl. I think I'm only going to get 3 kids out of dh (I want 4) -- and I really want sisters! So, ideally, the next two kids we have I'm really hoping for girls... (plus, I'm the biggest girly girl there is. My mom jokes that it would be fitting for me to have a rag tag group of boys... but really... I'm not ready for that kind of boy stuff... too late I know, since our first was a boy... but I really wanna teach a lil girl how to make clothes for her dolls and have tea parties and go wild with PINK (still my fave color)...
*TMI alert* When Nic was conceived, DH was on top. When this baby was conceived, I was... so I'm hoping that that old wives tale holds true...

Testing ~ We're not doing the quad(AFP) or the nuchal test... It wouldnt change the outcome - it would just make the pg more stressful, and I'm trying to cut back on stress. We didn't with Nic either (although we weren't offered the nuchal for nic)

:)

Girls I'm so worried! I keep leaking yellowish CM. I want to call my doc. but her office is closed until tomorrow. I read somewhere I could be losing my mucus plug which I know can't be good. I'm so scared and don't know what to do except wait until tomorrow to call my OB.

Tonysweetie~I found this
The mucous plug is just what it sounds like: a plug of thickened, often hardened mucous in the os or opening of your cervix. It begins to build up shortly after the first trimester.
I dont know if it could be your mucous plug as you are still in your 1st trimester.........
Has your spotting gone away?
Thinking of you.........

TTC: Aimed for a July-Sept pregnancy
BFP: 8/6/06
EDD: 4/18/07
Gender Prediction: Girl
Any other children: Thomas 6/3/05

I've been lurking from the beginning, but sick as a dog. I had a hyperemesis scare (extreme, dangerous m/s) but am now on Premesis Rx prenatals and Zofran for the nausea. It is really helping. I lost a lot of weight and the ability to care for my toddler, so as soon as we could get into the OB and get that taken care of we did. I am on a program to manage my condition, to ensure it doesn't get too bad:
- I check my keytones daily (this alerts me of dehydration, essentially)
- Take the 2 Rxs
- Follow some diet guidelines, like drinking Gatorade daily (ick) since it is essentially an IV bag in a bottle
- Whenever I have a bad day or my keytones are over +1 I can check myself into the maternity ward of my OBs hospital for IV fluids for a "tune-up"
- go to an accupuncturist who manages m/s

This pregnancy has been different from my 1st. Here's my "Pregnancy TMI" list to cover what has been going on with me, plus it touches on some topics brought up here:
Leukorrhea - this is the name for the thick CM throughout pregnancy. With DS mine was non-stop, thick and yellowy. As long as it doesn't have an odor or blood streaks in it, I'd say you are likely fine. Either an odor or blood & I'd call your OB. Mine's not as bad this time, but its still here. I had to toss all my maternity panties after having DS! Gross.
Digestive Blah - I look baby-bumpish already because my system is running soooooo sloooooow. It doesn't help that I can't stomach a fruit or veggie to save my life. I was having a decent day yesterday and managed to eat a salad for the 1st time in a month. I do take Colace daily to help smooth things out.
Hemmorhoids - I still have mine from my 1st pregnancy, and the digestive issues so don't help! I use PrepH wipes and the cream to help keep it calm. This was my least favorite part of pregnancy.
Boobs - Last time I was up TWO cup sizes before the end of the 1st trimester and the slightest breeze made me cringe. This time, absolutely nothing. Yay!
Migraines - i had two in the first 2 weeks of pregnancy. Horrible! My OB prescribed Tylenol with Codiene, but that's the best he can do. Nightmare.

Other stuff:
U/S - My OB is high risk so I get a regular and 3D u/s pretty much every time I go in. I love this perk. :)
Maternity Clothes - My last pregnancy was Sept-June so I may be able to use most of those clothes. I went through them recently, and really need to refresh the t-shirts and get a few more tops.
Genetic Testing - I got it all done last time, because we knew of 1 potential genetic issue and since my OB is conservative he had me do everything. I was in the clear (I am not a carrier for what we were concerned about) so this time I'll just do the Nuchal Translucency. The questions they go through when you are having genetic counseling are interesting, because most of the genetic issues are traced through certain nationalities...I learned a lot.

And just to add some fun to the mix, we are trying to put our condo up for sale by the end of the month AND buy a house in the 'burbs before baby comes. Weee!!! No stress at all, here.

I'm a SAHM with DS, but am never actually home. Well, I have been for the last few weeks because I've been so sick. I just hired a babysitter/nanny to come watch DS for 3 hours 2x a week so I can do my OB appointments, accupuncture appointments, errands for prepping our condo or looking at new houses, etc. I realized I just can't do it all alone, and DH has a very busy, high-stress job and can't take time off to help. So life is a bit crazy right now.

I am a research-crazy Repeat Offender so anyone has any questions, just hollar.

My next appointments are:
Oct. 3rd Nuchal Translucency
Oct. 16th Routine OB Visit

Off to tell my May/June moms thread I am knocked up before I get yelled at for holding out.... ;)

Thanks Sunshine & Kimthebride. I just can't help but worry over everything. I'll bring it up to my OB at my next apt. on the 25th unless it really starts to bother me. Congrats KimtheBride H&H 9 months to you and I'm sorry to hear about the M/S that sounds awful! I had a friend who had something very similar with her first pregnancy. She was in the hospital for dehydration and had to have IV and all that. I hope you feel better! God Bless!!!

Welcome Kim...H & H 9 months to you. I am glad to hear that that Zofran is working.

I wish my ob had put me on that earlier in the summer. My m/s seems to be disappearing now, but I still have the exhaustion. I give such kudos to all of you moms to be that are caring for a little one while pregnant. I don't know how I will do this next time. I am so tired all the time and I sleep whenever humanly possible. Won't be able to do that once there is one in the house. Oh well, better enjoy the sleep now. :)

Anyway, I hope everyone is feeling good these days. I have my next appt. for check-up and u/s on September 25th. Can't wait to see the little one again.

Also, not important really, but threadmistress, my birthday is this Thursday the 14th, I will be 34, not 33. :)

Welcome kimthebride, sorry the nauseau is so bad with you, that sucks big time. I hope it gets better soon. Our EDD are around the same time and I know the nauseau is full blown with me right now, yuk! It is so much harder with a toddler running around for sure!!

Genetic Testing We are doing the neuchal translucency only because we have 2 unexplained miscarriages between DS and this one. Just in case it was genetic, the Perinatologist wants me to do it and I agree.

Sorry for no more updates, very nauseated all the time, makes even working really hard. I am trying to keep it together or another couple of weeks.

Morning ladies! Still feeling pretty yuck over here. It's okay though, I know it'll be worth it! Mostly everything sounds gross to me. When I think of something that sounds good to eat I jump on it otherwise the thought of it makes my stomach turn. About the only thing that sounds good to me is cereal, cheese, and ice cream. lol. That's a real nice combination huh? I was on a Taco Bell kick for a few days but I think that might've passed. I ate pretty much 4 days in a row, lol. I even got DH wanting it. :) I got up this morning and my weight was back down like 3 lbs. I had gained like 6 lbs. like 2 days after my BFP and then all of a sudden today is was back down to almost my normal weight. I wonder if it's b/c of me not eating quite as much. hmmmm. Ohwell. My bloating is finally gone! I'm glad b/c that was pretty miserable. Anytime I ate I was uncomfterable and my stomach looked 4 months pregnant but now I'm back to normal with a tiny belly poppy out. hehe. Well I hope everyone has a great Monday. God Bless!!!

ameigh - I was sad to read your news. I am so very sorry for your loss.

kimthebride - welcome & congrats!

I'm back in town after several days of relaxing with family up north. The weather was so gorgeous and we had a wonderful time. Tell you one thing though, I'm glad to be back! Flying while pregnant isn't the greatest. Now that you can't bring any liquids on board its really tough to stay hydrated. I've been home 15 minutes and have already downed two large glasses of water. :)

QOTD: Genetic testing - we wont be doing any genetic testing.

Kimthebride: Congrats and welcome!

QOTD - Genetic Testing: We won't have any done either.

I'm so stressed out today. We had to take DD to the dr this morning and we spent 1.5 hours in the exam room waiting! I finally had enough when she started fussing every few minutes and kept telling me she was hungry and went to find the dr. She came in right away and we were finally out of there within 15 minutes. Note to all mothers - NEVER make appts for first thing Monday morning! Now I'm at work and there's some funny smell in my office. Smells what I'd imagine kitty litter to smell like. It's awful and I seem to be the only one bothered by it. I've lit candles and sprayed room freshener but it's not helping.

I've been talking to a friend who has a 1 year old and she's commiserating with me. It's horrible. I went into the bathroom this morning after DH took a shower so I could grab something and started to gag. It just smelled like soap - why it bothered me, I dont know!

UNISOM
Someone mentioned taking Unisom and a B6 vitamin to help with m/s. I'm assuming it's perfectly safe to take Unisom, but will I feel the effects of it in the morning? Or will it just finally be what I need to feel normal again? I'm back to feeling awful in the afternoons and it's so hard to focus on work, much less think about going home to play with DD and do things that need to be done there.

Well, ladies, my m/s has abated over the past few days. I haven't been feeling bad at all, just a bit tired. Sunday, however, I developed a whopper of a cold. Since I teach HS, I'm not ever really safe from germs, but I've got to tell you-- THIS SUCKS!

I looked over my OB info and it basically says that I can't take any OTC cold items until 12 weeks. UGH! That's two weeks away. My other cold pick-me ups like hot herbal tea seem to be out the question too. For that, I'm truly sad.

I can't wait until DH comes home so he can attend to DS. I'm so freakin' tired.

happy1nuv
09-11-2006, 06:22 PM
myshel ~ Why is hot herbal tea out of the question? I would think that would be good, since the herbal teas usually don't have any caffeine...

M/S ~ Still in full force here. I was so happy - I finally craved something good. I really wanted a caesar salad, so I made one with dinner (canned dressing, so it was ok). Well, it was great going down, but ladies... you do NOT want that coming back up... I kind of understand now why I crave sweet junk to eat...

Hope all is well...

Have time for only a quick post...wanted to respond to the bad smells/taste thing. I still have an aversion to red meat and grilled cheese, but the worst is that my deodrant (which usually smells nice to me) makes me gag every single day. AGH. I am going to have to go out and get a not scented one for the time being. It really makes me sick, but of course I have to use it. My dh makes enchiladas sometimes too and I can't be anywhere near the house when he does. YUCK!!! Hope all are well. Gotta run and grade more papers. :(

Laruen: It's true, the thought of FIL makes me want to gag. Don't ask I realyl don't know? lol. We stayed there last week to housesit and the food and everything he had in his fridge just all looked so gross! lol So now I can't go in his house w/o thinking about it, hehe.

DH and I made tacos for dinner and I made refried beans to go with it. No NO NO more refried beans for me. I didn't make me sick just looked awful after I took 1 bite of them. I'm really wondering if I'll ever beable to eat normall again? lol. No wonder I was down a few lbs. this morning. I've lost all will to eat. *sigh* isn't pregnancy grand! lol. Really though I'm loving every second of it. :)

Smells - I've got it bad here too. How about this one for a weird smell aversion. A few weeks ago we bought a new dishwasher and it smells HORRIBLE to me. Kind-of like new car smell, but for dishwashers. Our kitchen is always a disaster area these days because the smell of the dishwasher bugs me so much that I avoid doing the dishes until the disgustingness of the dishes piled 8 miles high in the sink outweighs the disgusting smell of the dishwasher!

Tastes - I'm practically on the South Beach Diet right now because I'm having aversions to most carbs. I finally figured out that eating sugary stuff and straight up carbs makes my m/s about 9000X worse. Bread, Fruit (especially bananas), breakfast cereal, Chai tea (my favorite :(), among others are all on the no-no list right now.

Smells are driving me crazy, too. The smell of our rental house bothered me terribly until I finally bought a Plug In scent thing and put it right by the front door. Now the house smells like Hawaiian Breeze, that is until I start associating that smell with being sick and have to change it up.

I'm constantly hungry and am on the opposite of the South Beach diet :) I'm all about fruit, chips, and cereal. I was like that with DD's pregnancy, too, except that was more of sweet cravings and this one is 50/50 sweet and salty.

Smells are driving me crazy too. I am hating the smell of garlic, or anything "leftover" in the fridge. Ew... I'm getting nauseated just thinking about it. Onions, alfredo sauces, and meat of any kind make me gag.

I thought my m/s was gone, but I think it's returned for one last hurrah. Ever since I got back to Florida yesterday I've felt sick, plus today has been no better. Harrumph!

Smells!
Deoderant - I have to turn my head the other way and hold my breath when I put mine on in the morning! Once I have a shirt on I'm fine, but ACK i can't stand to smell it as I apply.
Changing Diapers - DH is totally on diaper duty, because I can barely make it through poopy diaper changes these days. When I am alone and have no choice, I swear I break world records with my speediness. Yuck. I can smell him pooping from about 20 feet away with my back turned in the kitchen cooking.
Water - So far it hasn't been so bad, with with DS I could not stand the smell of water, particularly tap. I'd gag through my showers, turn away when ringing something in the kitchen, and have to shoo away table water at restaurants. I couldn't drink it until well into my 2nd trimester. This time I can't drink it either, but at least I can drink bottled and deal with showering. Crazy!

My Diet
Funny enough, my OB encouraged me to eat sugar sugar sugar as long as I am having trouble eating, and I have only been able to tolerate things a 12 year old would consider his dream diet: Fruity Pebbles, Sun Ships, tortilla chips, Italian Ice, bean & cheddar rice burritos, Jolly Ranchers, mashed potatoes, and certain pizzas. Very healthy. Now with my drugs, I am actually getting a fruit or veggie down here and there. And some normal food. i can't wait to actually eat healthily again on a regular basis...dammit I need some fiber to poop! Lol!

Unisom
I had trouble getting a hold of my OB's office when he was on vacation, then when he was back his staff didn't give him my messages about my terrible m/s. So I broke down and used the Unisom/B6 combo after talking with my friend who had terrible hyperemesis (she was in the hospital, etc) and doing lots of research.

First, check out this wonderful website dedicated to those with hyperemesis (severe m/s): http://www.helpher.org

Now, I took the following dosage and was fine. i was tired 24x7, but I think it was more the dehydration, lack of food in me and a general pregnancy side effect versus the Unisom effects. I am off this and am still tired, so my guess is its just the pregnancy.
Before bed: 1 full 25mg Unisom SleepTab (doxylamine succinate) & 25mg B6
Morning: 1/2 Unisom (12.5mg) and 25mg B6
Afternoon: 1/2 Unisom (12.5mg) and 25mg B6

You may want to try with the same Unisom dosage and only 10mg B6 at first. My research showed most people took 10, but I already had the 25mg and I was desperate (plus I am taller and heavier than the average woman) so I just went with that. It did help me, my keytones got better and I could eat/drink a little. It helped me make it through the week til my OB could prescribe me the Zofran.

Zofran
I am now taking 8mg every 8 hours (or as needed) and am eating like a normal person again. Thank God! I took my friend to lunch yesterday, and actually ate most of my personal pizza and half a slice of cheesecake plus a little of a latte. I almost cried I was so happy.

I spoke to my pharmacy about it, and apparently because its such an expensive drug (about $12 a pill) and most insurances either don't cover it or won't cover more than 4-5 pills at a time, they normally don't carry a large stock of it. They told me to be very grateful, because my insurance has me only pay a $50 co-pay for each Rx, so said to call in advance when I refill in about a week or so so they can ensure they have enough in for me. My OB only wrote an Rx for 20 since he didn't know how much I'd have to pay - if I didn't have insurance, that RX would have cost me $240 for 10 days worth of pills!!

Toddler Intolerance
I have to admit that by the end of most days, I am like get this kid into the bath and into bed because I need to not think or take care of anyone for the rest of the day! it is so tiring taking care of a toddler who runs circles around me and wants to explore the world, when all I want to do is sit down. And let's not even talk about napping. I think he's switching from 2 to 1 naps, so I never know what each day holds - will he nap? Can I lay down when he goes down, or will he get right back up? Blah...

Kim: Thanks so much for the Unisom info! We have to pick up a prescription for DD tonight and I'm going to grab some while we're out. At this point I'm willing to try just about anything!

Smells: I'm another who cannot stand the smell of her deoderant. And I picked it because it smelled so good, too.

Diet: Protein! All I want is meat and cheese and veggies. I can't stomach anything sweet and sugary and of course my co-workers don't listen and I have a desk full of sweets, including a giant cup of m&m's and an unopened, 2-week old box of Hostess cupcakes. I've really been craving a salad of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette. DH bought all the ingredients for me last night and it was delish!

Toddlers: DD will be 3 in December and is pretty good about entertaining herself. DH has done a good job of playing with her in the evenings so I can rest and it's pretty easy for me to color/paint/play Play-doh while lying on the couch. I'm 11 weeks this week and hoping that once 12 gets here I'll start to feel better and can be more active & involved with her. I feel terrible lying on the couch all night and weekend, but I don't have energy to do much else.

I threw up this morning from brushing my teeth. I finished and started to gag and the next thing I knew, I was hugging the toilet for a good 5 minutes. Not a pretty way to start the day.

Smells: Smells don't make me want to gag they just kinda make my stomach turn. The smell of someone cooking on their grills outside when I go for my walks. ewww! The smell of my cats dry food in there bowl, the smell of the cat box, the smell of leftovers in the fridge. DISCUSTING! lol

Has anyone else noticed that they sleep better when DH is not in the bed with you? I noticed this earlier this morning. I went to bed with DH around 10:30 last night and I woke up a few times during the night, didnt' sleep that great. Well he left at 6:30ish and when I got back in the bed I sleep like a baby until 11:30 AM! It was great! I did wake up a few times like at 9 and thought to myself I should really get up but having the whole bed to myself was nice. :) Not that I don't enjoy DH company but for some reason I just slept really well after he left. Maybe that is when I should get most of my sleep now?!

I am on the sugar/carb diet. Don't even put MEAT on my plate - gross! (although I am pretty proud that I can still cook it for dh... well, if slapping a slab of meat on a pizza pan and throwing it in the oven counts for cooking...) I am iffy about veggies/fruits...I really WANT to eat them, and do occasionally try - but that's about it. Although my newest craving is caesar salad (bottled dressing only) - am loving those salad kits. WOOHOO... But, most of my diet is bread, eggs, cheerios and candy...

Ladies... My favorite, i mean FAVORITE, thing in the world are these little ricotta cheese pies. You can only get them at The Modern Bakery in Boston... My brother went recently and stocked me up. Well, last night I was desperate to eat anything (nothing from dinner on stayed down) so I tried one of those. Some of it did stay down, but now the thought of them sooo turns me off... Please tell me that will change!!!! I am seriously mourning the thought that my favorite thing is no longer my favorite...

HELP!
Okay, ladies, I am really starting to worry. I have been having spotting off and on (more off than on) for the past two weeks and on Sunday I started having spotting again and it hasn't stopped yet. I mean, it's not flowing blood, but there are spots on my underwear periodically. I am just really starting to worry that they may be something wrong with my baby. I have a doctor's appointment already scheduled for Thursday, so I am trying to hold out until then, but I want to get some advice from you ladies. Any thoughts? :(

Married: I'm sorry your still experience the spotting. If it really worries you I'd call your doctor even if you have an apt. on Thursday. You might have that thing with teh low placenta. Sorry I don't know the real name for it. I hope it stops and everything is okay! God Bless!!!

My craving for today....Lemon Jolly Rachers. As soon as DH gets home I want him to go to the store and get me some. YUMMY!

Married: CALL YOUR DR! I would think they'd have you come in today, tomorrow at the very latest. But I'd call ASAP, esp if it's really worrying you. And if your dr can't see you, you can always go to the ER. It'll take forever, but they'll figure out what it is (I had to do this with DD). Please let us know what you decide to do and I'm sennding out lots of hugs & prayers!

Thanks girls. I called my doctor's office. The nurse returned my phone call, got some more information and is going to check with one of the doctors (my doctor is off today). She is supposed to call me back. I will keep you updated.

Call your OB or get his pager and contact him directly. Speak with him today. It could be nothing, but you'll drive yourself crazy until Thursday if you wait. Good luck.

All I got to in your post was the word "rico..." and I gagged and had to stop reading. Cheese skeeves me right now! Lol. I bet it was an interesting post, though! ;)

Sleep
I am just not sleeping well right now, period. I'd say whatever works for you, do it to get your rest!

lauren
Just make sure its the SleepTabs with the ingrediant I listed, and not the other kind of Unisom they sell. The other kind isn't the same medicine. Good luck with it!

Teeth
I really, really need a cleaning but can't have anyone poking around in my mouth til the gag reflex lessens. I can't imagine dry-heaving my way through a cleaning right now, yuck. I am okay brushing my teeth as long as its not too much toothpaste...but no more Listerine for now. (thus, the need for a professional cleaning!).

My M/S
Still doing better every day.
I actually managed not to lose a single ounce in the last 7 days - yippeee!!! Didn't gain, but thats ok for now.
Today I've eaten well, though the Zofran may take my nausea away it leaves me with no appetite. I am just telling myself to eat. So far I have had:
- Fruity Pebbles
- small slice of sicilian pizza
- a little Mac & Cheese (like 1/4 cup)
- Starbuck's egg salad sandwich
- few bites of a slice of banana nut bread
Funny thing is I LOATHE mayo and God help me egg salad (barf!) but I snuck the Starbucks egg salads all throughout my last pregnancy, and when i saw it today I HAD to have it. Yum. Finally some protein!

Married: I will be thinking of you! I hope everything is fine. Keep us posted, k?

Oh my gosh, SMELLS have been bugging me lately too. Pretty much everything grosses me out...and the whole food thing...can't really eat anything I am supposed to be eating. I seem to only crave what is bad for me, like pizza....McDonald's....Quiznos...Chipotle...

My m/s seems to be gone! Yay! I am thinking maybe it had something to do with my vertigo I had a few weeks ago.

Yup, and I am pretty sure that my BB's have at least DOUBLED in size already!

Less than a month before my first appointment! (October 11th) I can't wait!!!

It's been a while since I've been in here. My computer was out of serice for a few weeks. Things are really moving along! Welcome to all the new members!!

M/S: I don't have it bad, but do experience some nasuea once in a while.

Food aversions: I won't eat chicken breast. The thought of a big piece of chicken makes me gag. But small pieces of chicken are ok, if they are mixed with other things. Weird.

Spotting: I had lots of spotting (and some bleeding) problems early on. We saw a heartbeat on the ultrasound around 6 weeks, and the spotting stopped soon after that. However, it came back again last week. I notice it is worse with more intense activity, so I'm using it as an excuse to lay around and do nothing. My midwife told me that as long as I'm not filling a pad every hour or two, I shouldn't worry about. Of course, I do anyway. My next appointment is Friday, so hopefully everything is good then.

I hope everyone who is sick feels better soon!

I guess I'll be calling my doctor in the morning. I noticed some spotting earlier. I'm so scared. DH is trying to tell me everything will be okay and it's up to God and I know he's right but it's so hard not to worry. I never knew pregnancy would be so difficult as far as being worried all the time. I hope everyone has a great evening. God Bless!!!

Hey everyone! It's 5:15 am and I just got back from the ER. I woke DH up around 11ish and I was pink spotting and I just had a feeling I needed to go. You won't believe what the heck they did to me but it was soooo worth it. First they tried to find the heartbeat, no luck, she said it was too early. Then they did a full pelvic exam, all tests came back fine, except I have a small infection I need to take cream for so I'm glad I had that checked out. Then she did blood work on me, had to stick me 3 times. That hurt! Then had to do a urine test by putting this plastic rod up my urine area (sorry don't know the real term for that), that didn't feel too great, then I had an IV for fluids incase I was dehyrated. Then after that I got my blood work back everything was fine and my beta read me at 4-6 weeks instead of 8 so they wanted to do an ultrasound which sounded great until they told me they had to put in a cath. up to my bladder to make it full for the ultrasound. I was FREAKED out! I cried forever over it. I almost refused but they wanted to make sure it wasn't a tubal pregnancy so I sucked it up. DH was so great during this he held my hand when they put it in. I really thought it was going to hurt pretty bad but it was just a bit uncomfterable. THen I had to sit for about 15 minutes with it in and it burned a little and it felt like I had to pee very badly. They finally came and wheeled me into ultrasound room. The on call radio. girl came in and I felt bad she had to come up there just for me. She checked my overies, uterus everything. No tubal! PHEW! I also got to see the baby!!! Everything as of right now looks great. I measured at 6w1d which based on my chart is where I thought I was anyways. DH didn't get to see the baby they made him step our during it. It was beautiful! The heart rate is 128 which seemed sorta low but they said it was normal. After the ultrasound she wheeled me back in and they took that sucker out of me took my IV out and we waited for about 30 minutes or so and they came back and told me everything checked out fine. They put me as "threatened miscarriage" but she said they have to do that. They gave me an RX for my infection and told me follow up with my OB tomorrow. I'm also on bedrest for 2 solid weeks. I'm fine with that if it means my baby will be okay. I can do things just not be on my feet real long. Basicly pelvic rest but I need to keep my feet up when I can. So what a night taht was but I'm so glad I did it now b/c I got to see my baby and I found out I have an infection that if I didn't get treated could've hurt my baby. Well I'm going to get some rest. Poor DH is so tired and has to work tomorrow. God Bless!!!

ps I might be switching to the May thread. I'll let you know after my dr. apt. tomorrow since I'm only 6w1d now.

tinkerbell - welcome & congrats!

tonysweetie - OMG what a scary thing to happen! I'm glad they could date your pregnancy accurately. I'm sure everything will be fine. It was good of you to go to the ER, just to have the peace of mind and for the doctor's to catch the infection. I'll pray everything turns out ok! :)

Thanks! It was super scary and I really hope I don't have to do it again. I'm scared to go see my regular OB today I'm afraid she's going to want to poke around down there and I'm so incrediably sore and tired of being "looked" at, lol.

I could barely sleep last night. I went to bed at 6 am and it's now just after 10 and I'm up. DH is still sleeping. I'm super sleepy just can't sleep. I really never knew pregnancy would be so difficult and scary. I really thought I would just find out go to a bunch of Dr. apts. then the hardest part would be labor. I really hope I do not have to go through all that again. I'm so sore from them putting the cath. in me. I can barely use the restroom without cringing. It's like having a UTI infection. It burns pretty bad. :( Well I'm going to go lay on the couch and hopfull dose off for a while. God Bless!!!

Welcome, tinkerbell!

Married:Please keep us updated after your appointment. I *think* lil Nance (who is here too) spotted throuhgout her first pregnancy, and she has a beautiful little boy. I hope things are fine.

Tony's Sweetie:Holy cow! What an awful night! I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of that, but I'm glad that you know more about your pg now.

Still feeling pretty good these days as far as m/s goes. I haven't been sick in almost a week. It happened like this with DS too. I was really ill and then, it vanished just like that. If I recall, it was right around this time frame too.

Since m/s isn't causing me a problem, you'd think that I'd be eating up a storm. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. Because of my darn cold, I'm not really hungry at all. I force myself to eat a little bit at each meal, but for the most part, I'm grossed out by many of my favorite foods. There's no way I could eat Taco Bell right now. I ate that religiously with my first pg. The only thing that sounds good to me is a BLT sub from Subway with all of the veggies I can get on it.

It's kind of nice... I'm staying home today with my DS because the wicked cold I have has made its way to him. I'm feeling much better today, but DS sounded awful right before 5 am. I made the call and now, we're home. We're quite the pair-- him in his firetruck jammies and socks with his drippy nose and me in sweat from the HS where I teach with my crusty nose. :p

I had my first OB appt today. WOO HOO lots oh fun. PIAC, Blood pressure (130/80), weight (not going there :(), and pelvic exam. Everything was really great. The OB said that my uterus was about 8 weeks big, and that is where it is supposed to be. The really cool thing was that we scheduled an u/s for October 2nd! I don't have to wait unil 20 weeks this time to see my baby for the first time. :) Because of the whole BCP thing she wants to make sure of the exact gestitation of the baby. No skin off of my nose. I will be happy to go in for an u/s for that. :) All in all I was really happy with the appt. On to the next one.

Tonysweetie - I am so sorry to hear about your trip to the ER. How scary! Great news that the baby is healthy. You stick to you bedrest. Let your DH do everything for you the next couple of weeks.

myshel - I hope that you and your son feel better really soon! Cold stink big time.

tinkerbell - Welcome and Congratulations. What a great surprise for you guys!

Thanks myshel & annielynn! It was scary for sure but glad I did it b/c I got to see my baby. I'm nervous about going to my dr. apt in a few minutes. I hope they don't want to poke around anymore b/c I'm so sore and in some pain. My Mom said I better get used to it. Well I'll update after the apt. hopefully. God Bless!!!

Tinkerbell - Congratulations!

Tonysweetie - What a crazy trip to the ER! Those people are hardcore with the catheter business. I had to have a 'last minute' u/s during my first pregnancy and they just let me drink a big glass of water, thank goodness! Take it easy and enjoy your bedrest downtime if you can.

Kim ~ How funny... I've been eating egg salad like its going out of style too (and I'm not a fan of mayo either... go figure). Last time I craved egg salad too, but not like this time. Last time was an occasional gotta have it. This time... I get nervous if we only have 3 eggs in the house... didn't know you could get it from starbucks though... oh well

Good for you getting an earlier u/s! I would go nuts if I had to wait til 20 weeks like so many people do. Yikes.

I make myself eat as well, which (unfortunately!) has never been a problem before. Take care & get better soon.

I had to run out of the kitchen yesterday because DH had a chicken breast out. Gag.
Rest up and and enjoy it while you can. Someone mentioned it, but lilnance had a lot of spotting and her son is healthy and vibrant. Its scary, but not always bad.

LOL!! We referred to my boobs as The BABs with my 1st pregnancy (Big Ass Boobs). They went from a D to a E in the 1st triemster, and grew to a full EE by the end of the pregnancy. They were pretty scary.

Thank you so much everyone!! :)

I'm back from my doctor's appointment. Everything on the sonogram looked fine. The baby's heartbeat was 148 and he/she was bouncing up and down all over the place, so it's very active. It is about 5.5 cm now, which is quite a bit bigger than it was 2 weeks ago. The ultrasound is still measuring me at 12w2d, which would put my due date at March 27th. My doctor called me and suggested that I should be on bed rest until the spotting stops and for 24 hours afterwards. Also, I'm not supposed to have intercourse until further notice (which is not a problem, since we haven't for about a week now). Needless to say I am here at work again... I know, I know, BUT I am not going to get anymore rest sitting at home then I am sitting here at my desk all day. I am just trying to stay sitting down and drinking lots of water. Thanks for all the thoughts, everyone. :) Btw, I will have new pictures to post this afternoon of the gummie bear. :)

Tonysweetie: What a crazy trip for you last night! I am glad everything is okay with your little one as well. :)

Hi Ladies-

Just checking in...it's been a while since I have posted. Things are going pretty well, although I have managed to pick up a cold and am suffering through congestion, sore throat and poor sleep (as if it weren't already difficult enough to sleep fitfully!)

M/S has been pretty good staying away, although I did throw up for the first time in the car this past weekend as we were stuck in traffic. I think the stop and go motion did me in. Ick. I was so proud of my no-puking record too! Oh well.

I have my Nuchal Translucency ultrasound tomorrow. A bit nervous, but also excited to see the baby in high resolution and get some assurance that things are moving along as expected. Of course there is always the fear that something could be wrong, or there could be a false positive for Down's markers. Please say good thoughts and prayers for us!

If everything goes okay, we are going to start telling more people about the pregnancy since I will have reached 12w on Friday. I'm looking forward to sharing the news with my good girlfriends and LJ buddies.

Tonysweetie & Married-So glad to hear that everything turned out okay with your recent scares. This stuff is so stressful huh? And Married, FWIW, I spotted on and off pretty steadily for almost three weeks, but it stopped a few weeks ago and things are back to normal. I'm sure you will be fine! Keep us posted!
