Well ladies, today was not as easy and joyous as I had hoped, but all turned out fine. Here's the scoop:
My dh and I had an appt. at my ob's office at noon for our first u/s. We went in and to begin the troubled appt. they were struggling with my tiny veins to get many a vials of blood taken. So they stopped and said they would try after the u/s. So, I go in for the u/s and after 10 minutes of probing (internal u/s) the doctor said she could not find a h/b. My dh and I just froze. We knew it was a possibility but my doctor's look was worse than anything. She said she was concerned because based on the size of the fetus that she was seeing (or thought she saw) she should have been able to detect a h/b. She was uncertain if what she was seeing move was a h/b or not. Sooo...they try four more times to get blood drawn and send me across town for another u/s at a radiology center, stating that their own machines are mediocre at best.
So, we had an appt. for 1.5 hours from the time we left the office and my bladder was already full (as it was supposed to be for the second u/s of the day). We got the to center early and in some tears my dh pleaded with them to take me as early as they could...they did. They took me back in another 15 minutes (thank goodness because my bladder was going to explode) and did an external u/s. They again could not find the h/b. :( At this point I was feeling hopeless. They let me empty my bladder and come back in the room for internal u/s. BAM...there it was...the h/b. My dh and I just held hands and cried of happiness. We got to see the h/b and hear it too. I have never been more relieved in all my life. The only thing the tech said was that he was putting my due date at April 2nd now, instead of March 29th. :( I could still go early, as my sister's baby measured small the whole time and she had the baby around the time she predicted (earlier than the docs predicted).
Anyway, that's my story for the day. Whoo...what a day. What an emotional rollercoaster. My dh and I both were devastated at the thought of going through another m/c. AGH. I am so happy that I am still posting to a mommies to be site. :) I will scan the u/s pics, but really you can't see anything. I will scan that later tonight. Hope everyone is doing well.
Oh...and I need to go back two more times...once on Monday for the rest of the blood work they didn't get today and then again next Friday for the meeting with the ob that I didn't get today. They gave me a huge packet of stuff to read over and then ask any further questions next week. No idea when my next u/s will be, but I am in no hurry as long as everything is fine. :)

What a rollercoaster of a day, ieducate! I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. I'm glad the end result is okay!
Welcome myshel! Glad you can join us! I don't know what to tell you about the due date. If you don't know the date of your last period, you probably won't get an exact EDD until your first appt. If it helps, the date of my last period was July 9 and Baby Center (http://www.babycenter.com) spit out an EDD of April 15. Just use your best guess! I'm sure most of our EDDs will change at some point or another.
Great ultrasound pics, juliemag! You can definitely see the outline of a little body in there!
Weight
Well I weighed myself today for the first time since last week. I've lost three pounds!! I swear it's only because I was so dang bloated last week. That, combined with my new M/S diet of having no appetite and basically just snacking every 2-3 hours (as opposed to eating three gluttonous meals a day), must be doing the trick. I'm sure once the M/S phase passes I'll be packin' it on.

We just got back from vacation, and I'm glad that everyone seems to be doing so well! I got slammed with m/s around day 40, just like last time, so my daughter and I spent a couple of morning holed up in our motel while I napped and she got to watch tv.
My husband and I decided that we're going to try for a home birth, and we'll meet with our midwife the week after next probably. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow! weee! Also found out that my sister-in-law is due the month after me, so it'll be a busy spring in our family!
Um, and I tried out the "tummy sleeve" from Motherhood, and I'm less impressed than I thought I'd be, but I guess it does the trick. Tends to ride up.

My AF was due last Friday and I finally got a line dark enough for me to believe this week - so I am 5 weeks today. We have not told anyone yet b/c my DH keeps saying its "too early." I'm so excited I just want to scream it to everyone I see. We will probably wait until after my first doctor appointment to tell.

Welcome to the newbies, Myshel and j2478!! Congratulations!!! How exciting for the both of you!! :)
ieducate: WOW, what an emotional day for you. That has to be incredibly disheartening. :( I'm glad everything turned out okay, though and you finally got to hear the heartbeat!! Yay for that!!! :)
ameigh: WOW, how brave of you to try for a home birth!! Good luck with all of that, though, I'm sure it will be great for you! :)
Last night DH and I took SS to the go-kart track because they have $5 unlimited go-karts on Thursday nights. It was so hot out and we stood in line for so long before we finally got to go on a ride. After the ride, I started cramping up, which scared me a little. I decided not to ride anymore for the night and then decided that I needed food (which I finally got at about 8:30pm). It was a rough night... I didn't feel too hot. :(

Myshel and Lil Nance --
We must be on the same schedule....July and April babies! :D
Ieducate -- Glad everything is fine!
For those of you that have spotting, I spotted with my last pregnancy and had a major spotting at around 11 weeks and I freaked! Everythingwas fine, but I was hysterical...I am having some spotting this time, too, but I am not worrying so much...Still worrying, just trying to think of the last time and everything was fine. So don't stress if you are spotting, like someone else said some women spot during pregnancy and some don't. Have a great weekend, ladies!! :-)

Welcome & lots of congrats jen & myshel!!!
ieducate: I'm so sorry yesterday was a stressful, emotional day! But I am SO HAPPY that you got to see the heartbeat adn that your sweet little baby is in there, healthy and well!
I had a mild breakdown last night. I've just felt miserable lately and came home and cried to DH that I'm tired of being sick all the time, moody to everyone, and having no energy to play with Ava. He told me to lie down for a bit. I got up and he had cooked dinner and has offered to do that until I'm feeling better. This is huge for him, as he is a horrible cook.
I forgot to mention, but I don't have my appt Monday. My dr's office was closed Wednesday but he had me come in anyway for the u/s and went ahead and did my check up then. He said there was no reason to come in again on Monday and to call and make an appt for 3 weeks so we could hear the heartbeat and have my next checkup. I called today (forgot yesterday, oops!) and I'm a little upset because they can't get me in until Sept 18. That's a month! But, I'll be 12 weeks at that appt and am thinking my next one will be at 16 weeks, which is when we'll get the u/s that should be able to tell us the baby's sex!

ameigh~ Kudos to you for trying a home birth! Have you read this story (http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-praug06n&msg=15624.1) on the internet yet? It's about a woman who has a home birth alone, with only her toddler-aged daugher in the house. I'm not sure if it's real or a hoax or what, but it's incredible to read. BTW, what's a "tummy sleeve?"
Lauren~ I'm so sorry you felt so miserable yesterday. It's so hard when the m/s and general crappiness of the 1st tri seems neverending. Hang in there! And take advantage of those dinners! (What a nice hubby!)

Food Question:
It seems like every single day I read about some other food I'm not supposed to be eating. I'm already feeling a bit lost, but the food stuff is driving me crazy. Yesterday I read something on babyfit.com that said pregnant women should avoid lunchmeat unless it's heated to "steaming hot" because it harbors some kind of bacteria. Has anyone else heard this?

ieducate: I couldn't see the first set but can see this one!
pj_jess: I ate lunch meat all the time when I was pregnant with Ava and she turned out fine, a little big, but fine. I'm craving meat this time around and have had sandwiches at home with  cold  lunchmeat and am not too worried about it. I did have a sandwich at lunch today and the meat & cheese were grilled. I didn't know they were doing this and was fine with it, but I'd have been fine if it were cold too.
I went to Target at lunch and got 2 cute maternity outfits - a pretty chocolate brown dress by Liz Lange for $22 and great dressy black pants for $19! They had lots of really cute jeans and capris - dressy, denim, and cargo - and several really cute shirts.

lauren...
Yeah, I kind of figured maybe this was a little extreme. I tried doing a search and WebMD said it was fine. A couple of other websites said it wasn't. Everything is so conflicting, which is part of the frustration for me. I had a cold turkey sandwich yesterday too, and I have been craving Subway turkey sandwiches like crazy.
I know there are foods that are good to avoid while pg, but I just hadn't ever heard of lunchmeat being one of them.

Lunch meats and food in general
I eat lunch meats, and did fairly regularly with my last pregnancy. But I’m pretty lax about that stuff. Talk it over with your OB/midwife if you’re concerned. The only things I avoid completely are alcohol, sushi, and certain fish (swordfish, shark, and something else I can’t remember...I’m not a big fish-eater anyway). I consume but limit my intake of caffeine and tuna. Everything else is game. That was my OB’s advice.

Femmie: My dr said pretty much the same. Avoid alcohol, sushi, and certain fishes (I'm not a big fish person either) and do everything else in moderation.

For some reason, I thought (or recall from pg #1) that the lunchmeat thing was in regards to lunchmeat that sits in a case as opposed to those that are freshly sliced. I may be wrong though.
Like others have said, I do things in moderation. I have a hard time breaking my addiction to the nectar of the gods (aka: Diet Coke), but I've managed to whittle myself down to one a day. During pg#1, my OB said I could have three a day if I wanted too.
Feeling pretty good today. I had a bout of the "ickies," as I like to call them, today as I was putting stuff away in my classroom. I've been a little crampy, but that isn't really a new feeling for me. I'm always a little bit crampy-- even when not pg. I have a really hard time discerning uterine cramps from intestinal cramps. :o

The only things I avoid completely are alcohol, sushi, and certain fish (swordfish, shark, and something else I can’t remember...I’m not a big fish-eater anyway).Ditto, except I do occassionally make an exception for 'safe' sushi (stuff w/o raw ingredients). The other fish to avoid (or limit to once a week) is Tuna - due to the higher Mercury levels in those kinds of 'top feeder' fish. The other thing I avoid is unpasturized dairy products, but I would actually have to go out of my way to get such things so it's easy to avoid.
I eat packaged lunchmeat (Turkey is my favorite) - it's a good protein snack to fight off m/s. I've also heard the lunchmeat to avoid is the stuff that sits out in a deli case, which I don't really buy anyway.

lunch meat ~ The problem with lunchmeat is that pregnant women are susceptible to some bacteria (lysteriosis, or something like that) that would not affect you at all if you weren't pregnant. It can be really bad - cause m/c i believe - if you catch it, which is why they say to heat it so you kill any bacteria that might be there. There have been breakouts of the bacteria on certain lunchmeats (it was a good name, but i forget which one) ... That is also the reason you're supposed to avoid soft (unpastuerized) cheeses (usually the imported ones) ... I do avoid lunchmeat, but that's really not a sacrifice for me...
I also avoid the usual - alcohol, drugs, caffeine (although I do eat choc in ...usually...small quantities) and sushi (but again, no sacrifice. I CANT STAND sushi)... the thing that kills me to avoid is raw eggs. (I know, you are saying ick...but, I LOVE brownie batter and cookie dough. Two things you just can't make without raw eggs... and good caesar dressing... (the list goes on...) oh well. I just remember why I can't have any and don't even mind not licking the bowl...besides, who has time to bake anyway...

Thanks for all the welcomes ladies!
My first appt is September 1st and I will be exactly 7 weeks. I asked if they would be doing an ultrasound at that appt (b/c I wanted DH there if there were) and they said no it would be at my 2nd appt.
I hear what everyone is saying about what to eat and what not to. I am just trying to add more fruits and veggies to my daily eating.
At this point I am just worried that everything is OK with the baby's health, but I think that is something I will continue to worry about. Anyone else a worry wart too? I got a couple of books from the library and it absolutely amazes me how much has already happened inside.

I asked my nurse practitioner about lunch meats at my appointment on Thursday and she said that the rumor is "not true" and that they are perfectly safe to eat, so I'm not going to worry about it. I do think that the argument comes in when the meat sits out for long periods of time and bacteria has the opportunity to grow on it. I'm just not going to worry about it and hope that some "freak" thing doesn't happen to me in regards to that.
I've been feeling pretty well lately. I had a bad headache yesterday so I laid down to try to get rid of it and ended up taking a hour and a half long nap.
I'm trying to get motivated today. I need to go to Target and buy the new bedspread for SS's room so that maybe that will motivate DH to start painting. :) We'll see how it goes.

Good morning, ladies!
Major pregnancy brain going on here today. I was unloading groceries from our SUV in our garage. I have grocery bags in one arm, DS in my other arm, and I somehow manage to still push the garage door button closed with a free finger. It isn't until a full five minutes later that I realize I left our SUV trunk door open because there are still groceries in there. So basically I have just shut our garage door ON our trunk door. I managed to suppress a scream and run out to our garage. The garage door is fine, and our trunk door still works, but there is a HUMONGOUS scratch down the back of our SUV now. I feel like SUCH an @ss. I swear this baby is sucking out all of my brain cells!

Hi Ladies-
I'm going against most of the consensus here to say Don't Eat Lunch Meat!
Listeria is a bacteria commonly found in sliced lunch meats (packaged, and sliced at the deli) and can cause great harm to a developing fetus...not so much miscarriage as neural tube defects etc. My doctor and I talked about this exact topic extensively at my appointment on Wednesday and she said unlike other unproven diet theories (like not drinking caffiene, raw egg...) there HAVE been studies about the dangers of listeria in fetal development.
The issue is that every time a meat is sliced there is a new opportunity for bacteria to be introduced. Think about it...when you order at the deli counter at the grocery story, or in a sandwich shop, they slice that meat on the slicer that has been sitting ALL DAY (maybe even all week!) without being cleaned after each slice. Bacteria grows and with every slice, it can be transferred to your sandwich. I don't know..I just don't think its worth it!
Another food that is susceptable to bacteria is hot dogs. I did a google search on hotdogs and pregnancy and all kinds of studies came up about the dangers of eating them while pg.
I know plenty of people have shared their experiences with eating these foods while pg and nothing has happened...so I don't doubt that the stats are low, but I just wanted to share so that people feel more informed.
Hope this helps!
And for what it's worth, I've just been eating lots of chicken, egg salad, cheese, vegi or meatball sandwiches. Not nearly the same as a yummy turkey or roast beef sammy, but there are still options!

Just wanted to stop in and say hello to everyone. I was out of town this weekend at my SIL's, but just caught up on all the postings since Friday.
I am feeling the same these days...still nauseous all day and my bbs are still killing me. I go back to work in one week and AGH...I don't want to. I love teaching, but I have enjoyed being able to sleep whenever I need to. Oh well.
I have an appt. with my ob on Friday to go over all the stuff we didn't go over last week at the u/s appt. because of all the problems with the machines, etc. We didn't get to finish our appt. because we left to go to the radiology center, so we had to reschedule. She will go over all the other appts. I will have from here on out and talk with more about things to do and not do while pregnant. This is the absolutely most exciting time in my life and sometimes I still can't believe I am actually pregnant. It seems like a dream sometimes.
As for my weekend, well, what a disaster. I don't get along real well with my SIL, but for my dh's sake and because I do love my SIL's kids, I put on a smile and deal with it. Plus, my IL's were there for the weekend too,...as we were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. Anyway, she and I got into a huge argument on Saturday about taking some of her old baby stuff back to our house. I said we weren't taking it and she would have to hold it until the baby came and she got all pissy with me. I reminded her that it was bad luck for us to take the stuff into the house (religion) and that I would gladly take whatever she had to offer...but not until March. She threw a fit like a two year old and claimed my dh told her he was taking it. I said I didn't care what my darling dh told her and that I was telling her we would not take it. Needless to say, she gave me the silent treatment for the rest of the day. (Did I mention that she is 38 years old?) Okay, so all is fine by dinner she is speaking to me again, until Sunday morning when the issue comes up again. This time I gave in and told my SIL's dh that we would take the stuff to restore harmony in the family. Soooooo, he takes us into their bedroom and has us look at the stuff. We start picking out a few things we want and BAM, she goes balistic. She comes storming in and yelling at her dh about showing us the stuff without her in the room. Then we spent the next hour plus dealing with her yelling at her dh for showing us the stuff and then turned around and yelled at us (me and dh) for taking stuff without asking. WHAT THE ()*&*)(*??? I looked at her dumbfounded. I couldn't believe I was taking this crap for taking her crap that she INSISTED I take. AGH. After another hour we had to go in and ask her oh so nicely if we could kindly take a look at her stuff...after she had time to say "goodbye" to it. The whole thing was an absolute disaster. We ended up with a car full of crap I don't want and it has to stay in my dh's car until our friend Mike takes it to his house so it doesn't come in to our house until after the baby is born. Meanwhile, I got stuck with stuff I don't want because I left the room after she yelled at me again and I said, I can't take this crap...I can't handle the stress. This is supposed to be a happy time for me and she is just pissed off that it is no longer about her. She has THREE kids...it isn't like she hasn't had any. My goodness. Oh, and she made me look through maternity clothes she had, but made a comment that I was too fat to fit into most of her stuff. I can't tell you how happy I was to get in our car and drive the 5.5 hours home from her house. I told my dh last night that I would NOT be going back there for any reason whatsoever and that if she wants to see the baby at any time, she will have to get off her fat @ss and drive to VA.
Sorry for my venting, but I have not been able to talk about it since we left her house yesterday because my dh gets all upset with his sister's behavior. Everyone in the family just gives her excuses to act like that and I won't tolerate it. Noone at her age should behave like that. I am glad we don't live closer. :)

ieducate: I'm so sorry your SIL went nuts on you this weekend! But good for you for taking the high road. Don't even let yourself be around someone that negative anymore. :)
Welcome & lots of congrats chloechloe!! I also have been feeling a little sad about DD not being the only child anymore. I'm just trying to do all I can to spoil her now and really savor this time alone. I also know that she's going to love having a little baby in the house, so that makes me excited whenever I start feeling down.
We had a busy weekend. Went and did lots of shopping, for groceries and clothes. I got a few things at Motherhood, including the Preggie Pops. Wasn't going to, but I was pointing them out to DH as we were paying and the girl checking us out said they were lifesavers for her while pregnant. They were only $3.50, so I got a pack. They work okay. DD started preschool today. She cried when we dropped her off, but I know she'll be fine and not want to leave when we go pick her up today.

Welcome to the new mommies!
Just checking in after a busy weekend. I already posted about this in the Pregnant Grad Students support group, but I found out this weekend that 3 of 5 chapters of my dissertation are due the day before my due date. I'm hoping to get a head start on it this fall, but it's looking like my life is going to get seriously crazy (silly me, I thought it was crazy already) when this baby comes!
I didn't know the lunchmeat issue would start such a hot debate. But it's the perfect example of why I'm so frustrated. Even healthcare professionals can't always agree on what's safe and what isn't. It's a little insane. I don't usually buy my meat from the deli. I get the prepackaged turkey from the lunchmeat section in the grocery store. I don't know if that makes a difference, but it seems to me it would. Who knows.

Just popping in after an uneventful, but somehow busy weekend.
Nothing really new here. I think I'm starting to show a little, but even DH still can't tell, so maybe I'm the only one who can. I am going to take an 8 week belly pic tonight and see if you guys can tell any change. I'm also going to weigh myself tonight and see if I've gained any weight. If I have, it's probably in my boobs. They have gotten HUGE in the past week. I'm actually probably going to have to go buy a bigger bra 'cuz I am barely fitting in the one I have. Anyone else having that problem?

(raises hand!)
My bbs have been sore from the beginning. But this last week it seems like they are just getting bigger and bigger.
I've had some major food aversions over the last few days. All I want to eat is pasta and fruit. Bring in the carbs, baby! :) Here's hoping I dont tip the scale at my next appt. Yikes!! Also, any food with excessive flavor really turns my stomach.

I'm there with you on the boobs thing. Today, as I stood infront of my HS students who don't know I'm pg, I kept feeling like my boobs were throbbing. It's making me crazy. Also, some of my shirts are fitting a bit wonkily because of my chest. I look so squarish right now that it's not even funny.

My boobs have been so sore, but don't seem to be any bigger. They grew so much with Ava, but this time my bras still fit fine. I haven't gained any weight either, though my belly is really popping out. I'll take a picture tonight. Any RO's bigger a lot quicker this time around? I'm wearing a maternity dress today and you can clearly tell I'm pregnant. I feel really abnormal for being so big, so fast!
Welcome puglover!!

I'm not really larger as I hadn't lost all ofmy baby weight from DS #1 when I found out I was pg with #2. I think my breasts are larger this go round. I guess I'd also say that I'm much more puffy this time. I feel really bloated, but I don't look pg. As DH says, my "baby dome" prevents me from looking to pg.

Welcome to all the new mommies.
Still not feeling really preg. I must be tired as I've been napping more during the day. I lost all of my pg weight after DS was born. I was really liking my body. I think I was skinnier than I've been in years. (mind you I'm not skinny but I was happy with me) Now the belly is already starting to get a little pudge. Two pairs of shorts I bought in June are getting tight. :( Getting anxious for my dr. appt. It's not until 8/30. This is worse than the 2wk wait.

Wow! Welcome to all the new mommies!!
lauren f s, I definitely am looking bigger this time around but I think a lot of it must just be bloating because I'm so much bigger at the end of the day than I am in the morning.
Still feeling eh. I almost got sick this morning because I dared to get out of bed without eating a piece of bread from the loaf on my nightstand first. I honestly felt so much better at the end of my last pregnancy, having gained 35 lbs and all, than I do most of the time right now. Here's to being halfway through the first trimester!

I just realized my company has a scanner! So I brought in our u/s picture to be scanned this morning!
Here's the baby, measuring right at 7 weeks (last week), the blob on the right is the baby, the faint line is the umbilical cord, the small blob is the sac:

My 1st appointment is a week away - August 29.
We haven't told anyone yet. I wanted to wait until after the u/s, but I am feeling so sick this time and I don't want to lie about it. We are probably going to visit my great aunt this weekend, so I'd like to tell her in person, too.
I bought DD an "I'm going to be a big sister" shirt. My mom will be so excited for her being a big sister, she will probably forget to hug me.
Lauren, did the baby move much on the u/s? With DD we had the u/s at over 9 weeks and she was wiggling and waving her arms, but because of our schedules, we have to do it earlier this time.

The belly shots look good married & lauren. How exciting to be showing. I just feel bloated, but also know its way too early for me.
I have a co-worker (small office, I get along with him the best out of everyone) who came in yesterday and told us that his wife is pregnant & due just one day after me. I haven't told anyone yet, but I told him & I emailed his wife. It's nice to have someone in real life to talk to and compare symptoms with.
Have a nice day ladies!

Thank you everyone! I'm still in shock and not to metion DH he is in complete SHOCK! lol. I took another PG test earlier and it was BFP but slightly fainter, of course I had just gulped TONS of water so I'm not worried. My first dr. apt. is on Monday. WHOO HOO! I'm terrified to tell my Mom she is so against DH and I having a baby before I finish college, YIKES!
Symptoms that made me test: Fatigue, VERY VERY VERY irritable, and pulling sensation behind my belly button, and every now and then I got a werid taste in my mouth. Other than that I just felt like my usual around this time of the month. AF was suspose to arrive on Friday...I'm only 11DPO so I'm a little nervous! I totally didn't except a BFP this earlier condidering it's only 11DPO and I took it around 3:30 pm.
Congrats to everyone!!!

Here it is 12:21 am and I cannot sleep! I have to get up at 5:00 and I'm still up. I guess the excitement and worries have overcome me. I've been worried about making it to the 12 week mark. Ugh! I need to stop worring. I told my boss earlier and she was so great about it (I clean houses with a lady part time) she said if I need time off, need to slow down or whatever it's up to me. That was reassuring. I have my Dr. apt. on Monday which was pre-sceduled for my yearly so later on today i'll call and confirm it with them. I've been feeling super crampy all day today and strechy in my tummy. It's okay though I like having the symptoms that way I know the baby is growing! hehe. Anyone else going to be sharing the news soon? We plan on telling our familes this weekend and I'm terrified!!! Well I better try and get some shut eye! God Bless!!!

Threadmistress, can you add my next appt to the list? September 18th. Thank you!
deidra - good luck at your appt!
j2478 - that's great that you'll have someone to share your pregnancy so closely with! I have two close friends who are also pregnant, but one is 10 wks ahead of me, the other is 8 weeks ahead.
Puglover - I'm just seeing an OB at this point. I'd thought about a midwife before I was pg, but honestly haven't done enough research yet on the subject to decide if that's best for me.
tonysweetie - I'm glad your doctor can see you soon!
I have to laugh at myself because my cravings/aversions have been SO cooky over the last week. For example, last night I HAD.TO.HAVE cuban food. Good old black beans & rice. I ordered it with some lechon asado (pork) and it hit the spot. Then the other day, I couldn't look at anything that had an ounce of flavor attached to it. I was content with buttered noodles. It's funny how each day brings a whole new adventure. :p Thankfully one of my big cravings is still fruit and not chocolate cake!

Good luck telling your family! And YAY for a quick appointment!
~Did everyone have their hsg levels checked at their first appointment?
I went to confirm my pregnancy with my family doctor yesterday and he made an appointment with a "baby doctor" for Oct 13th....All my F Doc did was do a U test. Is this normal? I just had someone ask what my levels were.....

Tonysweetie - STOP! you have to relax hon. Do not POAS anymore! ;) You will be seeing your OB on Monday. It will be here before you know it!
Sunshine - I had to ask for a blood draw. They don't normally do it unless the patients asks or the doctor strongly urges. I don't think that I am going to do it this time around.
juliemag - Cravings haven't started for me yet. Last time around I craved McDonalds cheese burgers something fierce. I am interested to see what this time around brings.
Puglover - I am not going to use a midwife. I plan on having a repeat c-section.
A new day and I think that this little surprise is sinking in finally. My DH even told some of his coworkers yesterday and is a really big step for him. We have already started dicussing names and if we are going to move my son into the bigger room and leave the nursery the way it is or vise versa. A lot to think about.
I have completely lost my appetite. I don't care to eat anything. The Gas is B A D. And I still have the mild cramps too. I just hope that the m/s isn't too bad this time around.
Oh and we have let everyone know (that we have told anyway) that we are not going to find out the sex. We didn't the first time and we aren't this time. Of course everyone is trying to talk us out of it. :)

Wow! Welcome to all the new mommies. I was away for a couple of days and all of a sudden there's a bunch of new people! :)
I know I missed this by a couple of pages, but my bbs have definitely grown! DH is thrilled, but of course he can't touch them because they hurt when the wind blows.
I'm 8 wks today and getting very excited for my first dr's appointment next Tuesday!!
Question(s) - I know it's a little different for everyone, but when (at how many weeks) did you have your first ultrasound? I'll be just shy of 9 weeks when I go in for my appointment, but I think I'm only seeing the nurse. So I'm not sure whether to expect an ultrasound or not. They didn't tell me anything. Oh, and should I expect to give a urine sample when I go? Just wondering...I'm so new to all this and have so many questions!! :)

Thread mistress: Can you add my first appt for Sept 1st please?
Hi ladies! Hope everyone is feeling well today. There sure are a lot of April mommies-to-be. July must have been a busy month :)
Juliemag: I haven't had any cravings yet. I am so afraid this baby is going to want things that I hate: like pickles! Ayyy! The thought of them just makes me gag.
Puglover: At my OB/GYN practice you always see a certified nurse midwife or a nurse practioner for your annual appts. With pregnancy you see them up until 10 weeks then after that you see a doctor. I am very comfortable with the midwifes & NP's b/c I have went to them for years for my annuals. The practice delivers at hospitals and they rotate on call. I think I would be fine with the midwife delivering instead of the actual doctor.
annielynn: I would also like to not know what the sex is until birth. I made DH promise me the other day to make me wait even if I try to change my mind in a couple of months.
Well I am 5 weeks, 5 days today and besides my boobs being sore the only thing else I have is on and off cramps. Which I think is weird b/c I never get them with AF. From everything I read they are a normal way of stretching your uterus. It's just hard for me to equate normal with pain.
Have a good day!

juliemag You are making me SO hungry talking about Cuban food. All I've wanted lately is flavorful/spicy stuff.
annielyn We didn't find out the sex before DS was born. This time around we will find out. It was fun being surprised last time. I think DH would have found out but he waited. This time, I'm so anxious to find out. I'd really like a girl but at the same time I think brothers could be a lot of fun. I plan on being a soccer mom either way. :D
pg_jess I'd plan on a urine sample. Basically any and every time you see the dr. they ask for a sample.
Must have been something in the air last night. I, too, slept horribly. DS woke up once and the dog was wimpering in her sleep. I was up 3 times in 2 hr. and then couldn't fall back asleep. ARGH! The hormones are starting to kick in. I was grumpy last night and this morning. Then DS took a tumble. He got a bloody lip and a bump on the head (ah the joys of toddlerhood). He's fine, I was crying more than him. I'm also tired in the late morning (like now). I just need a nap.
Welcome to all the new moms. This thread is hoppin'.

pg_jess: I wasn't supposed to get an u/s until 16 weeks. My dr does one at 16 and one at 28. But, I called last week and was having some very bad cramping and he wanted to do one to make sure the pregnancy wasn't ectopic. At my first appt they did a lot of bloodwork, urine test, weight check, and went over all sorts of info with me.
My MIL is driving me crazy!! I forgot how nuts she made me when I was pg with Ava. I swear, I can't deal with this for 8 more months. I'll go nuts! She's convinced the baby's a boy, won't let me even talk about it being a girl to her, and calls the baby "our baby". I don't know why, but that really gets under my skin. AND - she's suggesting names!! She'll call me - at work - and say "I really think you should use the name....." No! This woman is not naming my child!

Welcome to all the new mommies and sorry to lauren for not helping update the thread very much lately. I've been slammed at work and haven't had a chance to do much of anything.
Sunshine: I had my levels checked at my appointment and they were over 93,000, which I was told was really good.
pg_jess: I was told that I wouldn't have my first ultrasound until 20 weeks (unless a problem arises). They only do one at the office that I go to. I'm kinda sad that it's going to be a while, but then again, it's okay because you can't really see much of anything earlier than that anyways. I was told that we would actually be able to find out the sex of the baby at that time if we wanted (which I doubt we will).
lauren f s
08-23-2006, 10:36 AM
It's fine married! I try to update at home, but the past two nights I've just gone to bed once I get home!
Baby's Sex: We're finding out. We almost weren't able to with Ava and it really upset me. I like the idea of not knowing, but I really want to! Plus, this baby will share a room with Ava and I need to know how to decorate so I can coordinate her bedding (she's getting new stuff, too) with the baby's. I've always said if we have a third it'll be a surprise and for now I'll stick with that ;).
Is anyone else really grouchy and moody? I have my own office and am so glad I'm stuck at the back of our building by myself because I am very unpleasant to be around right now. Everyone is driving me crazy at work, even though they're all being really sweet to me.

No, not really grouchy just super hungry. I can eat and then 10 minutes later be starving again! lol. I just ate a whole chicken breast and a spinch/tomato salad and I"m starving again! lol. My friend called and said she was getting wendys and french fries sound sooooo yummy! Goodness! lol

Baby's Sex:~We have decided to keep this little baby's sex a secret! I think it is going to kill me more than DH, but he always wanted to announce the sex and name of the baby after we deliver:)
Tonysweetie
08-23-2006, 01:21 PM
Babys sex: Ideally I'd like to know and I think DH would too were still trying to decide. We had said not to long ago we'd wait but now that we got a BFP that's back to being up in the air, lol.
Just got my first wave of feeling queasy! UGH! I almost want this to start so I know this is really happening! lol Remind me why I just said that? :D
Girls I'm scared were telling my Mom tomorrow (would be my Dad too but he will be at work), I'm a nervous wreck! I just don't think she is gonig to take this news very well. She is SOOO against DH and I having a baby until I finish school. Now on the other hand we plan on telling DH side of the family on Sudnay and I know they will be totally thrilled so were looking forward to that. Well at least I am! hehe.
When is everyone else sharing the news? How will everyone react or how did they react if you already have shared the happy news?

That's it, I'm officially sending out a search party for my brain. I wrote down that my U/S appt. was today (thank you for the well wishes on that, PugLover), but in fact it is Friday, not today. Ugh! (Threadmistress, don't worry about updating that...it's not a big deal to me and I'm a dope for writing it down wrong!)
Sorry I haven't been around much. I've been feeling uber-sick and trying to get as much rest as possible. I'm wondering if the M/S is really going to be worse this second time around for me.
Welcome and congrats to all our new mommies-to-be!
Finding out sex: I'm really leaning towards waiting until the birth to find out. We found out with DC#1, and that was fantastic, but I think I want to try it the other way this time and see what the anticipation is like. Plus, there is a good chance I will have to have a scheduled repeat c-section, so I just want something to be a surprise. I don't think I'll be as anxious as I was last pregnancy, so hopefully I'll be able to wait it out!
Sore BBs: Nope. Nada. Didn't have 'em last time, either. Surprising, though, considering I'm still nursing DS. I thought they would hurt more. I think after 2+ years of nursing, my girls are numb to anything! ;)
Sharing the news: We still haven't told anyone, not even our parents. We'll probably tell after the U/S on Friday if everything goes well and we confirm that there actually is in fact someone in there! I'm a little nervous about telling my parents, only because I think they might question our timing (my husband is graduating from law school and taking the bar exam all within the first three months of the baby's life). But I know they'll be thrilled. Our timing with DC#1 wasn't ideal either, but my parents were always super excited and never said anything (at least in front of us) about our choice in timing.
We're going to a Red Sox game tonite (whoo hoo! our favorite team!), so hopefully that will keep my mind off the nausea. I'm only a little bummed that I won't be able to have a beer at the game. I just hope I can manage to stay awake for the whole thing...

I forgot to add my answer to the question if I'm showing yet as a repeat offender. Yes, I am showing already. No, it is NOT the 15 lbs. of baby weight that I never lost with DC#1. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :D

Sharing the news: We told immediately. My co-workers all knew we were TTC and when I came into work after testing apparently I had a look on my face and one co-worker could tell. I told my boss because I was asking for more time off and knew she'd want to know why. They've all been amazing, bringing me crackers, sprite, always asking how I am and if there's anything they can do for me. We told our parents a couple of weeks ago and they took it well.

Sharing the news We have already told several people (relatives, my parents, his brother and his wife, my brother and his wife and coworkers, and some close friends.) We are waiting to tell his parents because they live out of state and we want to tell them in person so we are going there Labor Day Weekend. So far pretty much everyone has been shocked because they thought we would wait forever (we have been married 4 1/2 years) and babies have always sort of scared me really but we finally knew the time was right and now we are having one of our own!
Finding out I honestly would like to not find out and not even have any ultrasounds but DH insists that we both find out. I guess I just am afraid they will be wrong. I know that is stupid but how I feel.
Symptoms Yesterday after dinner I had to lie down for a while because I felt so nauseous (really the first bad nausea). Today I felt pretty crummy mid day but late in the afternoon I finally started feeling better. My boobs still hurt but it seems like not as bad (or I'm getting used to it I think.)
New Question
What has everyone been eating? I have been having to keep a food journal for my midwife for my first appointment because she is going to tell me what I should and shouldn't be eating and how to avoid morning sickness but until then I am having trouble thinking of good snacks. I am faminished half the time but the list of things that appeal to me is dwindling fast especially when I am trying to keep what I'm eating healthy!
I have tried various fruits (grapes, raisins, strawberries, bananas), celery with peanut butter and raisins, pieces of cheese, peanut butter on toasted or untoasted five grain bread, hummus, carrots, caffeine free tea with honey, etc.

hi ladies
can i join?
i finally got my bfp - i am due with #2 on 4/29/07
i cant believe it.
i have my first ob/gyn appt on 9/5 and i am a little nervous. with dd my pregnancy was complicated and high risk. i'm hoping this one might be easier but i doubt it.
eeek.
i havent read thru this entire thread but i saw a few qotd -
sex - we will definately find out.
we did with dd too. we just want a healthy happyy child but it would be way easier if it was another girl - just so she can have dd hand me downs.
so far no symptoms yet. but i know with dd i felt great until about 8weeks then started throwing up every day and didtn stop til she was born. eeek!
we havent told anyone yet. we want to wait til the 12 weeks are up just in case. i'm sitting on pins and needles til then.
i'll tell my mom only- just b/c she will have to watch dd for my appts. plus i know she will keep her mouth shut and i have to tell someone!

I have a quick question everywhere I'm seeing is telling me I'm 5 weeks 1 d today but then I see other places where it says 3 weeks. I don't understand It has been 5 weeks since my last period. So when I read those websites "week by week" which do I look at??? TIA!
MarriedaGoalie
08-23-2006, 08:42 PM
Tonysweetie: You count from the first day of your last period, so you would be 5 weeks. I was a little confused by it all at first, too, but that's what I was told.
diedra1027

Tonysweetie - Very confusing, but the "two weeks" between your last period and when conception occurred (ovulation) are counted in how far along you are. So you are 5w1d along in your pregnancy and this is what 'week' you should be reading along with at your websites unless they explain otherwise. Hope that helps!
---
Finding out the sex - Oh Yeah!
Telling - Haven't told anyone yet (except online) and really wish that we could wait until the very end of the 1st trimester. I'm actually surprised at how many of you tell so early!! I'd like to wait until we see/hear the heartbeat at the next appointment, but it's not until 9/18 and I'm pretty sure that I will be visibly showing by that point. We plan on taking Avery to our family get togethers in a t-shirt that says "I'm going to be a big sister" :D. Guess I should get a move on buying the shirt!!
Symptoms - All day m/s (UGG - didn't have m/s the first time around and it STINKS!), fatigue, and my new nickname is Irritated McCrankypants ;). My MIL sent me an e-mail a few days ago that more or less said "Hey, I sent my son an e-mail and he never e-mailed me back!". I seriously had to stop myself from responding with "Hey, why the (*%$@ are you telling me about it - I'm not responsible for managing his correspondence". :o
----
Appointment with the CNM went well...not much has changed since the last time except now they have a new screening test that they can do in the first trimester. She gave me a pamphlet on it, but I haven't read it yet - We'll need to let the doctor know whether we want to do it at the next appointment.

Tonysweetie- What everyone else said is correct but I just wanted to add that you may be seeing the 3 weeks some places because if you take out the 2 weeks, you would be 3 weeks. The doctor's add in that 2 weeks from the time you lasted missed you period to when they assume you ovulated (the mythical day 14) so really technically you would be 3 weeks but anywhere you read or at the dr's office you will be considered 5 weeks. Okay, so maybe I didn't explain that well but I tried!

diedra1027: I thought I was the only cranky one! I work in customer service and have to stop myself from being completely bitchy to customers on the phone! I was a little rude in one email yesterday, but thankfully it doesn't seem to have mattered.
m/s: I called my dr yesterday, desperate for something to help and he suggested vitamin B6. I'm supposed to take it first thing in the morning and before bed. I started it last night and took it again this morning. I really hope it helps. I had m/s with DD, but nothing like this.

tonysweetie - I'm just going to offer a differing opinion. Do you know when you O'd? It more accurate to determine gestation if you know your ovulation date. Take my situation for example, I didn't have my period for 10 weeks when I found out I was pregnant. That did not make me 10 weeks along when I found out. So, if you know when you ovulated, you will likely be able to find a more accurate due date. Hope that helps! :)
welcome kiki!

Okay thanks everyone I think I understand. So I'm 5 weeks pregnant and when I look at those nifty week by week websites I should be reading the 5th week and not the 3rd? lol.
Something werid happened today I got up and took my temp. and it was 98.1 and when I entered it on my chart it totally changed my O date and said I'm 27DPO today. I was like WHAT?! here I'm thinking I'm only 13DPO. That'd be great if I was really 27DPO b/c I've been a nervous wreck since AF is actually due tomorrow at 14DPO but hopefully I already passed it, lol. Who knows?!
Here is my chart if anyone is interested: [http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/ec00f
Symptoms today: Feellng tired like yesterday even though I slept like a rock all night and didn't even have to get up to pee! I woke up with a slight nausous feeling almost like when something scares you and get that rush through your tummy. My bb's are sore but nothign outta the norm.

Welcome to the group KiKi! And CONGRATULATIONS on #2.
Telling We have been telling almost everyone. I told me coworkers because it was such a surprise to me. They were really excited. The only family that we haven't told is DH family. I wanted DH to be there when we tell them and since he has been working such late hours he hasn't been home long enough to tell them. Hopefully this weekend they will find out.
Symptoms TIRED, I fell asleep at my desk twice yesterday. I am don't really have an appetite. Kind queasie and crampy.
We are very anxiously awaiting our 1st appt which isn't until the 13th of September. That seems like so far away. And I know that it will not be that much of an appt either, the one that I really want to get to is the 12 weeks appt so I can hear my little ones HB.

Telling I've told some local friends. One is due with #3 in Feb. Her DD and my DS are a month and a half apart so it will be fun to be pg with her again. We're visiting my family in 2wk to celebrate grandma's 85th b-day. We'll tell everyone then. Plus she'll be meeting DS for the first time. I'm excited. Probably will tell DH's family around the same time. We're the last to have grandkids in DH's family so they don't get quite as excited as mine.
DS slept horribly last night. Woke up around 3:30am and never really went back down. Luckily DH helped me with him but no one got much sleep. I thought I'd nap while he napped but I can't fall asleep. Yawn!

Welcome and congrats Kiki!
Femmie: I know what you mean about losing your brain. I have been the same way the last two weeks. I am the one at work who remembers everything, now I'm just as forgetful as everyone else.
Puglover: My husband & I have been married 5 years next month, I know what you mean about everyone giving up on you having kids. My mom has been hounding me for about a year and a half (no grandkids on that side). DH side already has 4 grandkids so it won't be as big of a deal, I think they will be happy for us though.
Telling: I told a co-worker whose wife is also pg and due around the same time as me. Other than that we have told no one. We are both just nervous about everything being OK. I am going to see how my first appt at 7 weeks goes and decide after that. I feel like everyone can look at my boobs though and just tell right away - they are getting bigger!
Have a nice day ladies!

I just finally finished reading all the posts in this thread from before I joined. Now I'm all caught up!
happy1nuv I am thinking about taking a hypnobabies class. One starts in September but I am thinking maybe I should wait until the next one since it is still so early in my pregnancy. I also just finished "Husband Coached Childbirth" on the Bradley Method and also didn't get the message that it takes pain but I see someone else already cleared that up for you. :) I know my birthcenter offers a class that resembles Bradley but without the outdated nutrition stuff so I'll probably take that one, too. I figure it can't hurt to have lots of information, right? :)

Puglover: Thanks! I plan to stop tempting once AF is offically "late." She is considered late today I believe. Although when I entered todays temp. (which was nice and high...98.7) it changed my O Date to CD 26 which I gues makes sense which would put me at 13DPO adn that means I was 2 days ahead of myself and I tested on 9DPO in the afternoon and got BFP WHOA! lol. Anyways thanks! :)
Tomorrow is the big day...were announcing our news and I couldn't be more nervous but also excited. I'm so afraid of what my Mom is going to say. She is soooo against me and DH having any kids until I finish school and I don't finish until the summer. That means my due date is right around finals week! YIKES! I really think my due date will end of being the beginning of May like Sunshine infact I think we might be due on the same day. I'll find out Monday I guess. I'm not nervous to tell DH side b/c I know they will be totally thrilled! Although I think DH is nervous to tell them. I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!!!! God Bless!!!:D

Telling ~ We told the immediate families, and a few friends. Last time we waited til after we heard the heartbeat, but I was too excited to wait this time around... we'll tell extended familly soon too... my dad is way too excited for us to wait i think... and since i wanna share and not have him slip it out...
Weeks along ~ I know there is one book out there (dr sears maybe?) that counts by date of ovulation, but i think the rest count from the first day of your last period. Sooo confusing!!
puglover ~ I'm so jealous that you have so many class options... the only class i could find last time around was lamaze and I was so not into that... which is why i ended up with a home study course...would so much rather have had an in person class...

Good morning ladies!! Sorry I've been MIA. I've been so busy at work and when I go home, I try to get online and my internet doesn't work well on this website at home for some reason. It takes forever to load and I'll have to refresh a couple of times before anything happens. It's annoying. Anyways, I just wanted to pop in and say "Hi". Nothing really new going on here with me.
I thought I had a little spell of m/s this morning, but I think it was just my gag reflexes acting up. I was in the bathroom, brushing my teeth and my toothbrush touched the top of my mouth just right, I guess, and I almost vomitted. It was bad... I even lifted the toilet seat up 'cuz I thought I was going to vomit. And this feeling went on for about 1-2 minutes. It was really weird.
I finally got my prenatal vitamins filled yesterday. My doctor had given me DuetDHA (or something like that). I had been still taking the remaining prenatals that my next door neighbor gave me. They are almost gone, but I'm not going to switch over until after this weekend. DH and I are going out of town this weekend and I don't want the new vitamins to affect me differently than the old ones and then me be sick the whole time we're on our vacation. I'd rather wait until after we get back, that way if I'm sick, I can be sick in the comfort of my own home. :)
Baby thing still doesn't feel real to me. I try looking at baby stuff online and I keep reverting back to thinking that "I don't need this stuff yet anyways". haha Is that bad? Is it wrong that I don't feel pregnant?
My question of the day... is everyone completely omitting caffeine from their diet or are you just limiting your consumption to a smaller dosage?
I had thought that I was going to try to omit it, but I'm not sure I can go without caffeine. I need my morning cup of coffee. So, I have one cup of coffee in the mornings and then nothing else for the rest of the day. How about everyone else?
PugLover
08-25-2006, 08:28 AM
Caffeine: I’m completely omitting but to be fair, it isn’t that hard for me. I hate coffee and don’t really like chocolate and I don’t really drink soft drinks, just water mostly. I do miss my morning cup of Jasmine Blossom Green Tea but I bought some other caffeine free tea and some honey (since I’m trying not to have a lot of sugar). I don’t know what I would do if I were addicted to coffee or cokes like a lot of people though. That would be really hard to give up I imagine, if you were. Oh, I do love chai but I found out they make that decaf so I can still have it on occasion if we go out for “coffee” with friends.
juliemag
08-25-2006, 08:48 AM
Married, I'm also taking the DuetDHA vitamins. My doctor recommended taking them at night before you go to sleep. Also, she recommended not taking them with food.
QOTD: I haven't really had caffeine. Except for the occassional piece of chocolate. I figured I like decaf coffee just as much as regular, so I could stick with that for the moment. As far as sodas go, I've been trying to drink sprite if I'm ever in the mood for soda. I usually *love* my diet cokes, so it's been hard to give up the faux sugar & the caffeine I get from those!
I woke up feeling really run down today. I am all achy and have had a hard time waking up, etc. Hoping it wares off soon, so I can attempt to enjoy some lunch!
Happy friday everyone!! :D
Tonysweetie
08-25-2006, 08:50 AM
Caffeine: So far I've omitted it totally. I'm not a coffee drinker but I am a big fan of diet coke. I was used to have 1 each day and I haven't had one since I found Tuesday. I'm not finding it too hard other than being tired but Ij ust like it b/c it's my "fix" or the day. I look forward to it sometimes but for some reason I just haven't had much of a craving for it. *shrugs* I'm not saying I won't have any at all through my pregnancy but I'm trying to limit it as much as possiable.
Oh goodness, a few minutes ago my Mom called and says "Good Morning, I'm surprised your up?!" and I said "yea, I'm off today" then she talked on for a few minutes and asked if I wanted to walk today. We usually walk in the evenings a few nights a week. I said "I don't know, maybe?" Then she said "Whats wrong with you, usually you are begging me to hurry up and come walk?" and I said "I don't know" She said "Did you start your period today?" and I said "no, not yet" Then she let me go. Oh my gosh this is getting hard to keep a secret. I just wanted to shout it out so bad but I promised DH we'd wait to tell them together tomorrow. I'm so nervous b/c I just KNOW she isn't going to be happy. UGH!!!! Is it Sunday yet? :o

Caffeine: I normally drink a Coke in the morning and one in the afternoon. Lately, though, I only want to drink water or juice. The idea of tasting a coke makes me want to vomit. But I know once that passes I'll drink one a day.
Morning Sickness: Did I mention what my dr suggested? I can't remember and am too lazy to go back several pages to see. Anyway, I've been really sick this time around and it's hard for me to get anything done at work. I called my dr Wednesday and the nurse suggested taking vitamin B6 in the morning and before bed. It's working! I still don't feel 100%, but I definitely don't have that all day long sick feeling. So you all that are suffering may want to try this!
On another note, we're going to dinner tonight to celebrate my dad & grandfather's birthday and all I can think about is the Mexican food we'll be eating. I can taste it in my mouth. I think I'll need to make a Taco Bell run at lunch to satisfy myself until 7 tonight!

lauren f s~Mmmm, Taco Bell! We dont have one here but we are going somewhere this weekend that Does have one, guess where I'm eating tonight now? heehee!
Have a gerat night tonight!
My question of the day... is everyone completely omitting caffeine from their diet or are you just limiting your consumption to a smaller dosage?
Well, I already dont drink pop or eat chocolate, and I drank a rare cup of coffee, so for me, it was easiest to just stop taking in any type of caffeine.

Caffeine: Lately I haven't been having any. Once the m/s passes, I'll probably have a cup of tea in the mornings, and maybe one Coke a week. I'm usually a bigger caffeine drinker in my non-pregnant state, but I cut down once I found out I was pregnant.
Lauren: I'm desperate for something to help this m/s. Today is particularly bad. Do you take the B6 at the same time as your prenatal? Do you have trouble getting it down? (Does it taste super vitaminy?) I'm having trouble getting my prenatals down, so I'm worried the same thing will happen with the B6. I'll try anything, though, to lessen this awful feeling. Thanks for the tip. Have fun tonite!
Welcome and congrats, BerBer!
This afternoon is my U/S appointment. 2:00 is taking forever to get here! A few weeks ago I was nervous about it because of all the bleeding I had in week 4. But now I'm feeling a lot more confident, mostly because of the insane amount of m/s I'm having! Will report back later.

Caffeine: I haven't been thinking about it really. The only kind that I have had is from a couple pieces of chocolate this week. I have been drinking only water, milk and juice with all my meals. That is really good for me. I have been eyeing the 2 liter of Diet Dr. Pepper that is in my fridge though. I might have to have a small glass of that tonight with dinner.
Femmie: Have a great U/S Appt. I cannot wait to hear how it went. 2 will get here before you know it. :)
BerBer: Welcome to our group! Congratulations!!
juliemag: I woke up feeling the exact same way. I don't think that I woke up until sometime around 11am. I cannot wait for the second trimester boost of energy! :)
Still trying to figure out the appetite thing. I know that I am hungry but I don't feel like eating. I never know what I want to eat. Then I do eat and feel sick to my tummy all over again. blech
M/S isn't is in full swing yet. I did wake up really run down and kinda queasie this morning. I didn't want to get out of bed. It ended up taking me a good 30 mins to do so. I could crawl back in bed right now if my boss would let me.

I'm enjoying my Taco Bell right now ;).
Femmie: It's a small vitamin and does have an icky taste. To be honest, I gag a little when I take it. But it helps, so I'll deal with a little gagging. I take my prenatal at night and take those at the same time (before bed) and take one in the morning with breakfast. Give it a try. I still feel a little off, but it definitely helps!

Hi, ladies. Sorry I've been MIA. This is the first full week of school with the kids, and I'm trying to hang on.
Telling: We've told my parents, my sister, my principal, my department head, and one friend. The work related ones were due to the fact that I will be missing school for appointments. I'm a little worried about how long to go before telling my students (HS kids) because I'm not showing yet; I just look chunky. Pretty soon the chunk will look like baby. I was hoping to go until November, but I don't know.
m/s: A few bouts, but nothing that ever sticks. Around this time with DS #1, I was puking my brains out.
QOTD: I haven't really cut my consumption of caffeine dramatically. My OB told me I could have up to three caffeinated drinks a day without harm. I've been doing that recently to get through the first week of school, but I know that I will wean myself down to one a day. I did this with DS #1 and it was fine. In fact, towards the end of my first pg, I drank gallons of fountain cherry soda. I seriously craved it.
In other news... I've been kind of sad lately with the changes in my body (I'm looking super chunky) and the fact that I've experienced some dramatic changes at school. I'm feeling less confident and a little more down. I know that the pg horomones aren't helping anything either!
Tony's Sweetie: Good luck with telling your parents. Just remember, you're a married woman, not a child. Things will be fine, I'm sure.

Hello ladies! Hope everyone is doing well today!
I am exactly 6 weeks today and looking forward to my appt. next week. Still no MS, it's not that I want it, but it would be kind of re-assuring.
Caffeine: I quit my morning coffee about 3 months ago knowing we were going to start trying. I love diet coke but also cut down on that as well. I have a pop about once every couple of days just for something different.
Have a nice weekend.

Hormones are starting to kick in. I'm getting more tired but it's hitting harder in the morning than the evening. The last 2 days my tummy has been a bit queasy feeling, kind of constipated but not really.
Caffeine I cut out coke and coffee for the first trimester last time and am doing that again. I'm a little more lax as I will have decaf or an occasional frappacino. I NEVER give up chocolate. :D
DuetDHA between TTC, pg #1, BF, and now pg #2, I've been on these for almost 2yr. I always take them before bed.
I feel so bad. A friend is due next month and her shower is this Sunday. We had lunch today and after I said, "I'll see you Sunday". She said, "Oh so that's when my shower is". Ooops. I had no idea it was a surprise, invite didn't mention it.:o The day I RSVP'd, this friend called me that night. We don't talk often so I thought that was why she was calling. Anyhow, I feel bad I let the cat out of the bag. Hopefully, she'll play along and act surprised.

5w3d Well the news it out! lol. I couldn't hold in any longer. I called my Mom and she didn't pick up the phone so about 20 minutes later I called again and she answered and I said "Mom, I have to tell you something!" she said "okay?!" and I said "I found out Tuesday and I'm pregnant" and she was EXCITED! WHOO HOO Well not jumping up down or anything but happy and said she has to let it sink in before she gets really excited. YAY!!!! Then DH called his Mom and told her and SIL and his Mom was soooo THRILLED! Were telling his Grandparents tonight and I'm so excited! Phew am I ever so glad we got that over with! YAY!!! God Bless!!!
Thank you all for your support, it meant so much!

Hey ladies, I am sorry I have been out of touch lately. My dh and I just got back from Cleveland, where he had business and I went along to visit with my mother and older sister. I need to go back and read all the postings done since Tuesday, but for now I will fill you in on me. :)
I went back to the ob today for the second half of my appt. from last week that was all messed up. She did another u/s, which I wasn't expecting, to see for herself the baby. There it was. It was delightful to see it again. Anyway, I am 9w1d today and still feeling lousy. She gave me some anti-nausea medicine so hopefully that will work. I have actually been losing weight because I can't eat. I have never (before today) heard anyone tell me to stop losing weight. Anyway, I go back to work on Monday and the students come a week and one day later. AGH. I am really hoping that my energy level increases by then and/or at least my nausea disappears. I have included my u/s pic from today. It seems to really be taking shape in my opinion. Last time it seemed like nothing, but today we could see the head and all. It was cool. I can't believe I still have so long to go. My older sister says it will go by so fast.
I hope everyone is well and I will read through the last few pages of postings and then hop back in. Hope most of you are past your m/s days.
NOTE: I cannot seem to get my u/s pic to be anything but gigantic. I am trying to fix it and then I will post. Anyone else use photobucket and have the same problem?

Tonys: Yea for telling everyone! I was very nervous to tell my family as well but they all took it well and were happy. Not as thrilled as my MIL, but happy. I'm glad yours is excited!!
ieducate: Try using snapfish for the pics. That's what I use and never have any problems.
We're headed to dinner in a bit. I'm actually not feeling very well. I'd rather take a nap, than shower and bathe Ava before going. I'm going to take my B6 vitamin before we leave and hope that it'll help me feel a bit better.
I hope you all have fabulous, good-feeling, non-moody happy weekends!

Happy Friday!
Catching up on the posts!
What is it with being pregnant and Taco Bell?? I have not had Taco Bell since I was pregnant with my son...Yesterday I HAD to have Nachos Supreme on my way home at 4:00 in the afternoon!! :p
My last pregnancy I could not get enough fruit...I mean I would think aboutfruit all the time! This pregnancy I have no interest in fruit, just spicy stuff.. Anything spicy!! The other night we got sushi and my husband was going to pick it up and I told hm to make sure he gets the red hot Asian sause to bring home....I have never putthat on anything before, but I did that night..Yum! Wonder what that means...boy? girl?? Who knows!
Caffeine: I am a big Dr. Pepper fan, usually having one a day. My last pregnancy I didn't have one until right towards the end of my pregnancy. This pregnancy I have one every so often...Chocolate I ate last time and will definietly eat this time!! :D
Vitamins: I take Trader Joe's Prenatal MultiVitamins. They don't make me feel sick unless I take them on a completely empty stomach.
Have a great weekend!!

Hello ladies! Welcome BerBer!!
I have been feeling very very very run down this week, not to mention getting that terrible taste in my mouth! Yuck! My allergies made my right ear plug up, and the doc basically said he can't do nothing about it cuz I'm preggers and can't take the meds. :( So I am taking benedryl and hoping it will unpop soon!
QOTD: I used to drink a RedBull EVERY morning before I found out I was pregnant. Surprisingly I have not had any problems with "needing" it now. I think I am going to wait until I am further along before I will drink a soda again. Unless of course I start to crave one! :D
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Ugh, I told my older brother last night through an email and I got up this morning and had a reply from him. I mean I didn't expect him to be jumping up and down for joy but I can tell he is sad. He's 27 years old and he is having a hard time finding the right girl. He said "look at you, married and having a baby before I can even find a freakin' girlfriend...lol" I felt horriable! I know it isn't my fault but I just wish he could find someone special soon. I know he is hurting over it. :(
Well AF is officially late! WHOO HOO! I'm so glad, haha. I've been nervous the past few days that she was gonig to show this morning but so far so good. Lets hope it stays that way. Still no m/s. Every now and then I get a small wave of queasiness. Other than that just feeling a little tired but nothing too much outta the norm.
Has anyone felt their cervix since they found out they were PG?! I kept charting until today with my temps and CM and stuff. My cervix this morning was so werid feeling. Nothing like I felt before. Kinda neat!
Okay I hope everyone has a great Saturday. Were going to my Moms today for lunch. This will be the first time I've seen them since we told them last night over the phone. Wish us luck! God Bless!!!

Tonysweetie So glad you mom seemed excited! That must have been a big relief. :)
I have been feeling better the last couple days but I think it was because I took my lunch break an hour earlier. I usually have to take it at 1:00 but the day before I took it at 12 and Friday I took it at 11:30. I think I am going to talk to the people who cover my lunch (all but one know) and see if they will let me go an hour earlier. I just hate messing up everyone else's schedules but even after I have breakfast and a snack, I feel absolutely starving and sick at 1 if I have to wait that long for lunch.

Deep in your uterus your embryo is growing at a furious pace. At this point he's about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. He's now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm — that will later form his organs and tissues. The cells are forming for his major organs, including his kidneys and liver, and his neural tube is beginning to develop. This neural tube — from which your baby's brain, spinal cord, nerves, and backbone will sprout — develops in the top layer, called the ectoderm. This layer will also give rise to his skin, hair, nails, mammary and sweat glands, and tooth enamel. His heart and circulatory system begin to form in the middle layer, or mesoderm. (This week, in fact, his tiny heart begins to divide into chambers and beat and pump blood.) The mesoderm will also form your baby's muscles, cartilage, bone, and subcutaneous (under skin) tissue. The third layer, or endoderm, will house his lungs, intestines, and rudimentary urinary system, as well as his thyroid, liver, and pancreas. In the meantime, the primitive placenta and umbilical cord, which deliver nourishment and oxygen to your baby, are already on the job.

Earlier Tony and I had went to my Moms for dinner. I went to the bathroom and thought I was spotting a little but it quickly went away. I don't know if I had scratched my cervix or what. I've been checking my cervical position and stuff for my own knowledge and I saw a very small tiny bit of reddish/pinkish blood. VERY small amount. I worried for a few minutes and checked again and it was gone. Hopefully it stays that way! Oh God PLEASE OH PLEASE let this baby stick! :(

Today is my first Dr. apt! YAY! I'm really looking forward to it. I hope the Dr. either does blood test or an ultrasound but I'm not expecting it. I feeling pretty good today. Not too many symptoms other than sore bb's but nothing too too bad. Of course I'm still bloated. Yesterday DH and I went to the grocery store and I was ready a pregnancyfit magazine and I saw a girl stand infront of me and she look around I'd say late 30 weeks along and she just looked so cute. I'm excited to be that big! It just looks fun, lol. Well I better run and get ready to run some arrands today. God Bless!!!
Do you plan on working or being a STAHM after the baby is born? Well right now I'm a SAHW. I was working part time cleaning houses/offices until I found out I was pregnant. DH and I didn't think it was very safe for me to be working with cleaning chemicals and stuff all day so I called in the day after I found out and my boss hasn't called me since so I'm assuming I don't work for her anymore. Ohwell. She knows I'm pregnant and she said she understood if I didn't want to work for her anymore. I guess I better go get my last paycheck. hehe. So anyways I plan to be SAHM for a little while until the baby is older and I will probably work part time and she or he will stay at DH Grandparents during the day whille were both at work. I wouldn't probably work more than 20 hours a week though.
I also have another...
Do you plan to breastfeed or formulafeed? I plan to breastfeed. I've known this for a while now. I just think it's so rewarding and special and I'm sure healthier too. If it doens't work out then thats fine too. DH is strongly for BF which is good! :)

I'm another one who has been over-the-moon for Taco Bell. Must be something in that grade-D beef that makes us swoon! haha. :p
This morning was a bit scary. I woke up 4 times last night to use the bathroom. Then this morning during my shower I started getting the shakes, got dizzy, and saw in the mirror that I was extremely pale. I had to sit for about 10 minutes, and gulp down a huge glass of water before I felt better. I'd wondered if I had just gotten dehydrated during my sleep? In any event, I hope that is not a daily reoccurance. I felt awful.
QOTDs:
Staying at home: I plan on returning to work after 3 months. Our cost of living is really high in our area, so realistically we both have to work. I dont mind it b/c I have a job that I really enjoy. DH is in the middle of training to become a firefighter too, so we want him to finish that and get hired. With his schedule though, its likely that our baby will have to be in daycare only part-time.
BF or FF: I plan to breastfeed for a year.
ETA: Welcome lysh!

Congrats & welcome lysh!!
SAHM vs WOHM: I'll work. I was a SAHM with Ava for 2 years and absolutely loved it. I've been working since December, though, and adore my job and co-workers. I can't imagine not coming back once the baby's born. I also think for my own sanity, this time, I need to work.
Breastfeed vs Formula: I'll breastfeed for a year. I BF Ava for 13 months and saw all the benefits it gave her and will absolutely do that for this child. With Ava I was iffy, I just figured I'd try BFing and if it worked for us, it worked. But I loved it. It was easy for me and I enjoyed it. I nursed her for a year and will admit I've become a little fanatical about it with this baby. DH already knows that formula will not be allowed in our house. I have the Ameda Purely Yours pump and am all set to pump and work.
I've lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. I know it's because I'm sick all the time and can't eat much. I'm ready for this to be finished so I can enjoy my pregnancy!
Married: Please keep us updated and let us know when you hear from your dr!

I missed so much in here. I went away for the weekend for our 1st anniversary and I have never walked so much in my life. I kept hrdrated, and drank even more water than I normally do which is more than you "should" drink, so I am sure I am okay. I did pull something in my groin area tho. Or aruond that area. By my leg. I hope that doesnt cause anything.
Other than that, i feel GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The occassional cramping, but nothing else!
Married~Have you heard anything yet? Thinking of you:)
Tonysweetie~So looking forward to hearing about your appointment! GOOD LUCK!
Do you plan on working or being a STAHM after the baby is born?We would LOVE it if I could stay at home. I am going to be working in my studio while on mat leave, so if I get enough business, I may be a WAHM.....but for now, I plan on going back to work after 10 months on Mat Leave. DH is giong to take 2 months of my year!
Breastfeed vs Formula:If I am able to I will breastfeed!

SAHM??? Originally I was going to work pt and then stay home. I work from 10-2 Monday through Friday. Then right before I found out I was pg, my boss told me that I am going to be offered a huge promotion sometime in October. I love where I work and would love this promotion. I really want to grow with this company so I definitly think I will be going back to work. On good thing about my office is they are very flexable and full time is only 32 hours so hopefully, I will beable to work only 4 days a week. I I know that my Mom offered to that the baby 1 day each week so that will definitly save on child care.

I spoke with my doctor's nurse and she said that sometimes when you throw up a lot, it can bang around your uterus a little bit. Regardless, they said they would be more than happy to do an ultrasound, so I am going in at 2:45 this afternoon to have an ultrasound done and make sure everything is okay. It just all stresses me out a little bit.

How awful. I know when I've browsed through some of the other Pregnancy Threads and I read something tragic like that it worries me too especially since were all still in the early stages. I guess that is just when you leave it to God's hands.

Welcome lysh!
Married, I hope everything is okay. Post an update when you can!
Quick post to say everything went well at my U/S appt. on Friday. There is definitely a baby in there and I saw the heartbeat. :) She said she couldn't get an exact measurement because the baby is still too small. So I'm still going with the due date based on my last period.
I will post more later, but these past few days I've been *so* sick. I pretty much can't keep anything down until late afternoon, and then I can only handle a small snack. This SUCKS. I don't know how I'm going to manage this for at least another month. Will post later when (if) I'm feeling better.
