Peaches ~ I hope everything is straightened out with the airlines by the time you fly. It should be by then, but still I understand why it would be worrisome. Sorry to hear about your car issues too - I hate dumping money into a car.
Kat ~ Yay!!!!!! So glad to hear you passed the 1 hour GTT!!! That's awesome news. How was your BP? When did your pre-e show up with G? I have my 1 hour GTT tomorrow and fully expect to fail it. That way if I pass it, it'll be a nice surprise. Yay for the nursery, too! Doesn't it feel great to get things like that accomplished? I know what you mean about aggressive playmates. There's a little girl C plays with and she's pretty aggressive to the point that when she walks toward C, she turns her back and hunches over to shelter herself from that little girl.
Sare, Lydia & BethIrish ~ I hope your insomnia passes soon. I remember being awake in the middle of the night a lot when PG with DD.
neenbean ~ How was your trip to VT? It's beautiful out there! We have friends who live in RI and have a cottage in CT. We went skiing with them in VT & NH. I love the east coast.
ellidew ~ I'm so sorry you have to wait until 9/1 for your appt. If your doc thought it was something serious though, I would think he/she would tell you to get in "right away". Still, I understand why you're stressed. I would be, too.
We spent the better part of this weekend peeling wallpaper off the walls in our master bedroom. NOT FUN! The previous owners put up this awful granny looking mauve and blue floral wallpaper. It's been there since DH bought the house in 1997 (I moved in here in 2001). My nesting urge created this little project for us. I want everything in order and done before we add another baby to our family b/c I know after DS is born, we'll never get anything like that done.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sleeping- I'm so sorry so many of you are finding yourselves awake in the middle of the night. I seem to have taken a turn in the opposite direction and i am finding myself constantly tired! I can't get enough sleep. Every couple of nights i'll have a terrible night where i see every hour of the clock until the alarm goes off and on other nights i get up to go to the bathroom every hour and a half. However, i don't typically find myself awake in the middle of the night. I hope you all find the sandman soon!
Shower: My shower is going to be on Sept 24. I'll be 34 weeks. If all goes as planned that will give us a few weeks to finish getting things in order before the baby debuts.
2 Week Appts- I might have already answered this. My appt on Friday was my 28 week appt. My appts from here until 36 weeks will be every 2 weeks.
katnbug- Congrats on passing!!! I'm sure it's a relief!
Update: Thanks for all the kind comments after my mini breakdown on Friday. I seriously took a dive off the deep end that day and i'm sure it was partially hormone driven. I was in a funk most of Friday and did my best to put on a happy face when we were with our friends. Dh and i talked about it and he's convinced there isn't anything wrong. I tried to tell him that i know there may not be but there is a constant reminder that we JUST DON'T KNOW. That's where my hang up was. We both agreed that it didn't matter one way or the other and that we'd love him just the same. I think all parents hope for a healthy and easy life for their children. I just want his life to be as perfect as possible and to have a challenge from the beginning isn't ideal. Saturday morning i woke up and dh was at work so i stayed in bed with the dog until about 11:30. Then dh came home and we went out to lunch and ran some errands. Once i was out of bed everything seemed better. I'm still freaked out about finding something wrong with the baby but i'm not stuck in a depressive funk! I just felt like ick on Friday and Saturday morning. I did myself a favor and reminded myself that there isn't anything wrong, yet.
We bought a chair this weekend. We went to Ashley Furniture by our house because a co worker of mine (due 10 days after me) bought an upholstered glider recliner there a couple of weeks ago for their babys room. We just went to look at it and see what else they had but didn't have any intentions of buying. Well, we got there and the same chair he bought was on clearance for $140-$150 off. Since it was the floor model we were able to take it home with us that day!
This is our chair in the nursery. We haven't done anything to the nursery up to this point (other than park the crib in there) because we are replacing the windows in the next 2 weeks. After that we are going to paint and get it together.
RE: The newspapers. Sunday morning when i woke up and walked out of our bedroom i found dh sitting in the chair in the babys room reading the paper. He told me he loved the chair and liked being in the babys room. How freakin' cute is that?
RE: The rug is part of the old office decor. It's not staying in the babys room.
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e144/ellidew/Temp050.jpg
I finally took a picture of the crib too. It's a Munire Salem crib. I wish it was more brown and less strawberry blonde but i like it and it looks nice in the room. It's a lifetime crib and we bought it for $499 on clearance and that included all the conversion rails! I believe Munire charges $150 for their rails so we (actually, my mom) bought the crib for at least $200 off!

I had a horrible wake up call about my weight on Friday too which seems to have been overshadowed by the babys health. I've gained WAY too much and i'm seeing numbers on the scale i've never seen before which really scares me. I'd lost about 30 lbs pre -pg and i'm sad to say i've surpassed even my highest weight. I'm going to start keeping a journal of my food and hope that i can keep cravings and tempting things under control. I hate myself for doing this and i DON'T look forward to tackling it after the baby is born AND around the holidays. What the heck was i thinking?

I finally took pictures and uploaded them to the internet this weekend (obviously since i posted the crib and the chair) I also wanted to share the onesie MIL gave us many many months ago. I'm pretty sure i've talked about it before but i never had a picture to share.
We plan to take this to the hospital with us. I don't know if he'll have a chance to wear it or not but it's definitely something we want to have with us.

Anyone else not sleeping normally? Um, yeah. I'm exhausted when I go to bed, so one would assume I'd fall right to sleep, right? Wrong. I tend to toss and turn for a good hour or two before drifting off to sleep, only to wake several more times (oh, every hour or so?) to either get up and pee or toss and turn some more. I bought a Boppy Pregnancy Cuddle Pillow at Burlington Coat Factory a little over a month ago, and it's been very helpful in getting into a comfortable sleeping position for the last week. So now I'm comfortable, but sleep is still eluding me. :rolleyes:

Rancid Great belly pics! Have you found the baby prefers to be on one side more than the other?
Not really! He's just in there moving around all over the place. Sometimes will be moving more on the left, sometimes more on the right...I think he's starting to run out of space in there, his quarters are getting a bit cramped I think!
katnbug~ Congratulations on passing the 1-hr GTT! I'm not looking forward to mine, which I think I'll go in for on Wednesday. I'm such a sugar hound and half-hispanic so those are 2 things that work against me. I'm thinking of slightly adjusting my diet (ie: eliminating a soda or two and some sugary snacks) for the next 2 days before I go in...like that will help, LOL.:eek:
ellidew~ I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling better about the baby's health, etc. You pretty much just have to take it 1 day at a time and hope for the best, but it's ok to break down and cry about it on occasion, goodness knows I sure did!! I'm loving your crib, it's gorgeous!! And I'd love to come over there and steal that rocker-recliner from you, it looks too darn comfortable!! LOL re: the Made in Mexico onesie. Too cute!!
Reunion~ I decided against wearing the pretty strapless teal-colored dress to my reunion Saturday night, on account that I felt that it made my arms (of all things) look fat. :eek: Lucky for me my favorite Ebay find, a black BCBG Max Azria dress that I got for $40 a couple of years ago, still fits, and I was able to use the chocolate-brown bow from the teal dress to tie around the waist of it for added cuteness. Here's a decent picture although it doesn't show the whole dress (I'm on the right; the other 2 are my bestest friends from hs, the one in the middle has been my BFF for 15+ years now):

Sleeping- I usually wake up a few times a night to go to the bathroom and then have a hard time falling back to sleep. If I am still awake after about 10 minutes I usually turn on some mindless television show and that helps me fall asleep again.
ellidew- I am sorry to hear it is going to be a while before you can get in for a level II. Can you call your Dr. and express your anxiety to see if they can help get the appt. moved up?
katnbug- Yay on passing the 1 hour GTT!
Peaches- I hope you don't have any issues with your flight to Italy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DH and I primed and painted the nursery this weekend. It was a lot of work and I realized why people pay painters to do it for you! For some reason certain areas that were painted last dried a lighter shade than the rest of the room! It is driving me batty when I look at it, but I don't have the energy or the paint to put a second coat on. I guess I will just have to get over it. I will take a picture and post it, so everyone can see the color.
Now we have to put the wallies on the wall that I got from PBK (Ocean Critters line). I have been having a hard time deciding on the pattern I am going to use, but hope inspiration will hit soon.
DH and I are going to an open house tonight at the Pediatrician's office we are considering using. I am excited to meet the doctors in the practice.
I hope everyone had a good weekend!
I just realized that I am in the 3rd Trimester starting today :eek:!
Rancid- You look great in that picture! I hope you had a good time!
Rubbersoul- Go you on getting the nursery painted! I'm jealous. I actually don't mind painting but i'm not half bad at it. Sometimes when the paint cans are mixed completely the top half and the bottom half can come out different colors. I bet it is frustrating to see! Let me know what you think of the PBK wallies. I was planning on buying this set and want to make sure i'm not wasting my money. The add-on kit includes 1 owl, 1 nest, sun and 3 blue birds. I really don't want to pay the $79.00 for the tree so i'm just going to paint one similar to it. Let me know what you think! Hope the open house goes well!
We painted our nursery this weekend too! It took 2 coats. We debated doing a chair rail, but the room is not very big. I was afraid it would chop the room in half and make it look smaller. Here is a combo nursery/belly/crib bedding shot. I was exhausted last night when we finished.
http://static.flickr.com/75/215167236_cbcf97bea1.jpg?v=0
About 10 minutes after we took that pic, DH found a dresser and nightstand on craigslist. We went and pick it up last night. Now I feel like I can justify buying a glider. It feels more real, like there is an actual baby coming to live in our house. DH was so cute about putting together the nursery.
sleep I am waking up more, not necessarily to go to the bathroom but to move/strech. And I have been having crazy, scaring dreams in the wee hours of the morning just before I wake up. This morning I woke up so scared, I thought my heart was going to pound out of my chest.
shower We are driving 12 hours home for two showers on Labor Day weekend; one at FIL's and one at my mom's. I will be 29 weeks. We picked Labor Day so DH would be able to save his PTO at work for the baby. Originally we weren't going to have a shower or travel home.
back with SOs later.
Awesome Roberta! Love the color of the nursery and the bedding and you look GREAT! You're making me feel very very far behind. lol.
Has anyone seen a bookcase or console table that could double as a changing table? or a cheap dresser (under $200) I think traditional changing tables are so ugly and i'd much rather have a console table or bookshelf that can be multipurposed and reused down the road. Let me know if you come across anything.
Husbands: I have no doubt in my mind that my DH will be a huge help and more than able to share in the baby duties. He’s always been self-sufficient (one thing I love about him ;) ) and is very capable in figuring things out. I definitely want us to be a team. Some of my friends never leave their baby alone with their DH, even if it’s just going to the gym for an hour, which boggles my mind. I’m the type of person who needs to have ‘alone’ time once in a while so if I want to go get a mani/pedi for an hour, I won’t feel guilty at all for leaving the baby with DH.
Time flying by: Yes!! My DH doesn’t think so but I think once fall ‘offically’ begins after Labor Day, November will seem right around the corner. I’m trying not to stress out about our long, never-ending laundry list of things to do before the baby comes, but it’s hard. So many of you are so far ahead of me in terms of getting things done!
Bi-weekly appointments: No idea about this. I’ll have to ask the next time I see the doctor. Luckily I work very close to my doctor’s office so I try to schedule all of my appts. before work or during lunch.
Shower: I’ll be about 31 or 32 weeks. We haven’t chosen the exact date yet but my first baby shower will be sometime at the end of September. I’m really excited about it since it’s right around the corner. I’ll probably send out the invites since I’ve found some really cute ones online.
Sleeping: Funny that someone brought this up recently because I had the most horrendous sleep last night. I kept tossing and turning until 1am. Then I just laid in bed wide awake but tired. So annoying. I tried everything from counting sheep (am I the only person who really does that?) to trying to relax but nothing helped. Finally around 2:30am, I fell asleep but I was so tired this morning. Ugh. Not fun. I’m going to try to exercise in the evenings now to see if that helps.
Ped: Yet another thing on my list-to-do. I’ve found some recs. but just need to contact them and check things out.
Euphorhea: gorgeous invites!
Ellidew: Sorry to hear that things are still in limbo. I agree with you that not knowing is the worst thing. I have a tendency to play out all possible scenarios in my head, which only serves to make things worse! I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry about it. Hopefully the baby is positioned in a way that you can’t see everything on the screen. As for the wake up call on the weight gain, I hear ya. Around week 16 (I think?), I had a HUGE wake up call in terms of my weight gain (15 pounds weight gain!) but I guess it was a good reality check. I’ve only gained about 3 pounds since then because I’ve really watched what I eat these days and only drink water. Any kind of juice usually has a ton of sugar in it so that’s one easy way to knock off some calories. Same goes with sugary desserts or ice cream. I’m lactose intolerant so staying away from dairy is pretty easy for me but there are other bad carbs out there for me! I think keeping a food diary is a great idea. One thing that helps me too is planning out the dinners for the week and keeping processed food to a minimum during the week in case we go out to eat on the weekend.
Peaches- Wow, a trip to Italy. That sounds heavenly. Be sure to indulge in as much gelato as you want! :D
Katnbug: Congrats on passing your GTT! You must be so relieved. I’m so nervous about failing mine for some reason.
RubberSoul: Oh, I love the PBK Ocean Critters line. It’s so pretty. I’ve never heard of wallies but I’m sure it’s going to look adorable. That’s great that the ped. office has an open house—very convenient.
Roberta: Cute nursery pic! I love the wall color and you look great. Is that a Sorelle crib? It’s beautiful!
a bookcase or console table that could double as a changing table? or a cheap dresser (under $200): Have you looked in IKEA? They may have something there for pretty reasonable. We’re going to buy a double dresser from somewhere and use that as our changing table so that we can keep it around for a while. Another idea is to look is garage sales (especially for bookcases) since you could always repaint something if you didn’t like the color.
Sare: Great u/s and nursery pic. Love the dragonfly pic! You guys have gotten so much done!
Sare~ the nursery is looking fantastic! I love the wall color! The u/s must've been uncomfortable, each time I've gone in for one with a full bladder, the tech immediately had me go, um, relieve myself, before getting fully started. :)
Peaches, where are you going in Italy? I'm sure it won't be troubles for you to fly in Italy, here is quite calm even if the controls are severe.
Rancid,you look gorgeous! Your dress is beautiful.
Ellidew, I love your "made in mexico" outfit! So sweet. In our hospital is required an outfit like that and one heavier already in the delivery room because they will be baby's firth clothes. It's so sweet thinking that he/she will wear it, don't you think?
A big hug for your exams, I'll cross my fingers for you.
About the weight I think we are now in the period of gaining weight so even if
we are eating well the baby is growing, too...
Roberta, Sare 79, your nursery are wonderful!!
We didn't do anything about it! We'll start in September: I'll have to go out of city for another week (from 19 to 26 of August) because my mum broke her wrist while she was in holiday, so we'll go to see how she's doing.
A coworker asked if we want her crib as a gift: we'll see it and if it's nice I think we'll accept the offer, it will be a bargain.
But for the moment we already bought a nice bear lamp that switches on with the voice of the baby singing also a lullaby.
I did today the 4 hours GTT: it was really nauseating but now I feel better. I'll know the results on thursday.
My next appointment will be on the 11th of September (sorry, I know it's an awful date for you, girls...)
lilo- I wish i'd had a wake up call at 15 weeks. Instead i've added an additional 13 weeks of weight gain on. Ugh. Must.eat.better. There should be a pregnancy weight gain thread. lol. (heck for all i know there is and i've just never seen it) I was on LA Weightloss pre pg so i'm going to try and follow their program. I have no doubt there is enough stored for the baby to stay healthy while i'm on a 'diet'. I can't follow it to a T of course because i can't eat fat free yogurt (aspartame) and a few other things but i'll at least follow it within reason. Here's hopin' i don't screw up! Dh said the doc told us we'd have to reevaluate my due date if i keep gaining... i didn't hear it but i freaked out when he told me that. I like my due date! That's motivation!
Sare: I LOVE the foot picture. I just think u/s pics of feet are adorable. There's just no mistakin' it's a foot. lol. The nursery is looking very cozy. Pretty soon you'll have a baby in there!!!!
It's so sweet thinking that he/she will wear it, don't you think?
I love the idea that it's babys first outfit. It's so fitting. I haven't heard anything about outfit requirements at our hospital yet so hopefully that is something they will go over in the lamaze/child care class. It's given by the hospital and we're doing the tour of the hospital next week so hopefully they talk about it then. If not i'll be sure to ask.
Rancid13 ~ That dress looks great on you! Very cute picture.
RubberSoul ~ Congrats on getting your nursery painted!
roberta ~ You look great! I'm enormous compared to you.
Sare ~ Youe nursery looks great!
scarlett74 ~ My next appt is on 9/11, too. :(
I took my 1 hour GTT today, which I'm sure I failed but will find out for sure in 1-2 days. I'm sure I failed it b/c when the Physician's Asst measured me my uterus is already up under my boobs and I'm only 27 weeks. She said I was measuring 2-2.5 weeks ahead so she wanted me to have an u/s today to make sure things were okay. Turns out I have polyhydramnios (excessive amniotic fluid) again. :mad: :( Approx 8-10% of women have GD and 1-2% of them have polyhy. Since everything is fine with Devin, I'm positive the polyhy is caused by GD. If I fail the 1 hour I'm just going to test my blood sugar with the meter instead of going in for the 3 hour. I have all the equipment and the PA said that was fine to do. The problem with polyhy is it usually causes pre-term contrax and possibly labor. I was on bedrest with DD b/c of that. Praying for no bedrest.
ugh, I just wrote a post and I have no idea where it went.
I passed the 3 hour GTT-I'm so relieved!
ellidew- Try not to stress too much about the weight gain. All you can do now is eat healthier and exercise.
rancid- You look great
sare Nice ultrasound pictures.
I love your nursery, it's beautiful! Is that an Emily crib from JCPenny ?
Katnbug Congrats on passing the GTT! Sounds like your nursery is really coming along.
Catgirl Humm...peeling wallpaper doesn't sound like much fun, especially when it's REALLY old.
Lydia Hope the insomnia packs its bags soon (not to be replaced with fatigue).
ellidew I've had a couple of those hormone-related-pregnancy-meltdowns. Not fun. Sounds like you are doing a good job of reminding yourself that things are probably all ok. Lovely glider, I could just fall alseep in that, it looks so comfy. The crib is lovely too. That little onesee is darling, what a sweet present.
Rancid You are positively glowing in that picture from your reunion!
Rubbersoul Glad the yucky painting bit is out the way...now comes the fun part :)
Roberta That color looks fabulous with the crib and bedding. It will definately "grow" with the child. Gosh, 12 hours for your showers! As we say here, you will be "knackered"!
Sare What an amazing picture of your little girl's face!
Scarlett Glad the 4hr GTT is over, hope the wait for Thursday doesn't take too long.
RE: Italy. We are going to Venice for 4 days/3 nights. Sounds like the airports are getting back to a somewhat normal schedule so hopefully all will be fine when we go. I do plan to indulge in plenty of gelato/ice cream! :D
We've actually put off doing some work to the car until after we get back from Italy. The stuff we have had done is just routine stuff, 4 new tyres, new brake pad-thingy/bleeding the breaks, but it soon adds up, especially when it happens all at once.
I have my letter from my doctor saying that I can fly (I'll be 28 weeks and the airline we're using insists on a Dr's letter from 28 weeks) and I've booked the train and hotel airports so we are all set. Now I have to be patient...for two weeks!
Wow, everyone's nurseries seem to be coming together and looking awesome. I love that we've all got nice preggo bellies now. :D
I had my first appointment with my new CNM last Monday and I'm really happy that I made the switch. My next appointment for check-up and GTT is on Thursday, 9/7. After that, I'll be going every two weeks. I think it's a little odd that I'll be having my GTT at one day shy of 30 weeks. It's supposed to be between 24-28 weeks, right? Maybe she just doesn't think it's a big risk? But I'm measuring ahead, too, like catgirl so that post made me a little nervous. If I had GD, what symptoms would I have?
Over the last week, we've gotten some more baby loot...
My mom got us this amazing glider set from Dutailier (SO comfy, I HIGHLY recommend it, if you're willing to pay the extra bucks or if someone is treating you):
We also got this toy box for the nursery:
And, even though we're not having a shower, we got our first gift from the registry. My aunt sent us this Skip Hop bag that DH likes:
I'm feeling pretty good about our stash at this point. We still need a changing pad and cover, Boppy and cover, monitor, nail clippers and nasal syringe, and a store of diapers, but that's about it as far as necessities.
Our changing table was supposed to be delivered last Thursday but when the truck got here, the delivery guy noticed that they had brought the wrong color so it will probably be another week until we get it. (Rrrrrrrgh!) BUT, for our inconvenience, they've offered to assemble it for us, so that's a bonus!
Hope everyone's feeling well!
catgirl- sorry to hear about the polyhydraminos. I hope that you don't have to go on bedrest again. I can only imagine how difficult that would make life, especially with a little one to chase around.
bijouparvin- wow, you are on a roll with getting stuff! My DH wants the same diaper bag - he is all about a camo diaper bag so he can feel manly while carrying it :rolleyes:.
Outfits for baby- I was looking at the Gymboree website on Friday and well that was a mistake seeing as I am a baby clothes addict. Of course I found a little outfit that I just had to buy. After I went to the store in the mall and paid for it I had a small heart attack over the price, I realized I will not be buying many outfits from Gymboree (unless they are on sale ;)). Here is what I just couldn't live without for my little boy.
I also got the bodysuit with little dog bones on it and the matching socks.
GTT- I just got my results and I passed the 1 hour GTT!
I had my appt this past Sunday instead of this coming Wed, as scheduled. My OB happened to be on call and called me to see if I wanted to come in and just do our routine stuff. I said sure, since DH was home with DD. Everything was normal, my BP was a tad high but not anything to be concerned about, weight gain is 35 pounds so far but she said it's not a problem and I had a little sugar in my urine but no protein. So really nothing new to report, LOL.
My next appt is September 12 and then it's every 2 weeks after that!
Thanks everyone! I am a bit of a planner and so as soon as we found out we were having a girl, I was given the go-ahead form my husband to start on the room. He knows if I had my way it would have been done the weekend we found out we were pregnant!
sare Nice ultrasound pictures.
I love your nursery, it's beautiful! Is that an Emily crib from JCPenny ?
It is a Simplicity brand Ellis crib. We got ours at Babies R Us, but I saw it on the Target website too in different colours.
Hi everyone -
I've been lax about posting recently, but I've been reading along. It's comforting to see others going through the same issues - nice to know I'm not alone!
The last 2 weeks have been incredibly stressful - we put our 1 bedroom apt up for sale last week of July and it sold immediately (that's the good part!) But, we thought it would be easy to find a 2 bedroom apt to rent and it totally wasn't. We were pretty panicked, but we finally found something and signed the lease on Saturday. So we move at the beginning of Sept and then I can start to catch up with everyone else and buy nursery furniture and baby things! But first, I have a few weeks of packing and unpacking to get through. It seems like a lot right now, but everyone tells me it's better to move now before than the baby than to try it with a newborn. So, I'm trying to stay upbeat.
Appts - In baby news, I passed my 1-hour GTT (which I totally thought I'd fail given my huge sugar tooth). And my next appointment is 9/25. After that I start going every 2 weeks.
Sleeping - I'm a huge insomniac lately. I woke up at 3:30 am today and couldn't fall back asleep. I'm getting used to being a zombie during the day.
Shower - We decided this weekend that mine will be Sept 30. 3 days before my 30th birthday -- we might have to make it a birthdy party too!
bijouparvin - I love that diaper bag! I might have to get it for my husband, too.
I've also been reading along but haven't felt that I have much to post.
sleeping-I've found that I sleep even worse when I'm not in my own bed. I'm pretty restless (or maybe I just notice it more because it takes more effort to move my big belly!)
back pain-The back pain has really set in this past week. I used to have lower back pain, but could pop my back (like people crack their knuckles) and everything was okay. Now I have an aching mid-back and sharp pains in my low back/tailbone area by the end of the day. It goes from being very uncomfortable to sharp pains causing me to gasp if I move certain ways. Thankfully I have a doc appt Wednesday that I can ask her about it. Tyenol and heat have done nothing to help it.
shower-I had my first shower yesterday!!! It was so fun, but a little overwhelming being the center of attention! We got a lot of stuff off our registry and a few mommy-must-haves (things you don't know you need until you're a mom). I was just looking at our registry and there aren't a lot of mid-priced items ($25-40). There are still 3 big ticket ($100+) items: baby papasan swing, jogging stroller, baby monitor. Hopefully a few people will go in together and get some of that stuff. Or I may have to add more things. I have 2 more showers in Sept.
Here's a quick pict from the shower yesterday--it's with one of my best friends who is due with a little girl 2 days before me--she's carrying low and flat, I'm carrying high and out there ;) I'm on the left
Sinclair - You look great! Sounds like you had a nice shower too. I would venture to guess that your pain in the lower back is sciatica. I had a bout of it around 20 weeks and haven't felt it since switching to flip flops from my regular everyday wedge sandals. Last night after speed walking through the mall because we were in a hurry i felt it in my lower back too and if i stepped just wrong it would shoot down my butt. Not fun at all and mine got bad enough the first time that i could barely walk and getting up and down or in and out of bed was torture. I didn't find any relief except to not walk or stand for too long and to wear flat shoes. Let me know if you find something that works better!
ppwgal- OMGoodness you HAVE had a busy couple of weeks. I can't speak from experience but i'd venture to guess that moving pre baby would totally beat out moving post baby. Have a smooth safe move... and don't worry you aren't behind. I'm at 28 weeks and other than moving the chair and the crib into the babys room i haven't done a darn thing. It will be 2-3 weeks before i can do anything to it!
Lydia- My weight gain is near yours. Up until this last appt my doctor hadn't seemed concerned. She scared the snot out of me this time! lol. No more brownies and cake for me! Glad you had a good appt and all is well!
Rubbersoul Congrats on passing the GTT! Awesome finds at the mall. I stopped in Childrens Place looking for this hat but they said they wont have their hats in until this week.
http://www.childrensplace.com/www/b/TCP/images/styles/504234_m.jpg
Bijouparvin- WOW! You’ve been a busy girl! I bought the same Skip Hop bag in burnt sienna (reddish orange) corduroy. I love it! I can’t wait to fill it with stuff. What a pain about the changing table but at least they are going to make it right AND give you a little something extra.
Peaches- Have a great trip to Italy! I’m totally jealous. We had a cruise planned in Sept that we cancelled because we figured we could use the extra money and technically they wont let you cruise after 26 weeks or so.
Catgirl- Fingers crossed for passing the GTT! That stinks about the polyhydramnios. I honestly had no idea what it was until I read your post. It’s good that you have a plan in place that you and your PA agree on. No point in suffering through another blood test if it’s just going to have the same result. I’ll still keep crossables crossed though.
Sinclair, Roberta & Rancid- You all look marvelous!!
Roberta & Sare- Congrats on your nursery progress! The babies will be here before we know it to fill those cribs!!! :)
Rancid- Cute dress! Looks like you had a good time at your reunion!! I hate to admit it, but my 20 year hs reunion will be coming up next year!!! :eek: Yikes!
bijou- Yeah for the baby loot!! Very nice.
catgirl- Ugh! I have my crossables crossed that you pass the 1hr! Bedrest would be the last thing you need this time around.
My BP has been really good (for me) - around 120 over 65, some better some a little worse. I didn't develop high BP until 34 or 35 weeks the last time around. They tell me that if you get pre-e the 2nd time around it usually starts later... hopefully not at all for us!!
ppwgal- Congrats on finding the apt. It is definitely easier to move before baby imo. We moved when I was 7 months pg last time... it was nice because everyone else did all of the big work & I just watched and delegated!!! :)
ellidew- Nice glider and crib! And I love the onesie!!!
scarlett- I hope you pass the 4hr GTT!!!
peaches- 28 weeks and you'll need a dr. note? Wow, I thought it wasn't until much later that you'd need a note. All airlines are different I guess.... they probably figure better safe than sorry!! Have a great trip!
********************
DH got the chair rail up yesterday afternoon :) All that's left is the crown moulding and touch ups. I need to paint the closet doors as well... but that won't be too difficult. :D I took pictures as it's progressed... I'll post them after it's done.
I've started getting awful heartburn. :( I got it with my first pregnancy, but can't recall at which point. It was AWFUL yesterday afternoon and last night. I got some extra strength Tumms today and I hope those will help if it comes back. Phooey.
For some reason I don't see any posts from today... Is something up with cc, or are we all too tired to post? :)
I went to the dr. this morning and also had the glucose test. Mine was lemon-lime flavored, and it wasn't too bad, thankfully it was cold! I really hope I pass, but I'm worried because lately I've been craving sweets.
Hope everyone is doing well!
ellidew - i love that hat! I definitely want to find a cute warm hat to complete a going home outfit, since it'll probably be chilly when we bring the baby home for the first time.
Sinclair - you look great! That's great your shower was a success. I'm so jealous you have a friend that is due around the same time as you... your kiddies can be friends! I'm hoping my friends will get on the baby making bandwagon soon.
RubberSoul - cute outfit! I haven't started down the slippery slope of buying baby clothes, but I have a feeling I will once we get our nursery furniture and set up the closet to fill!
bijouparvin - We just bought a similar glider, but a Shermag. I agree, those are the MOST comfy chairs ever. We figured it would be worth the splurge and get one that reclines. And we got a Skip Hop too, but the Dash!
I don't think there have been any posts today. I could post all day every day but i figured you'd all get sick of hearing from me ;)
I hope you pass your Glucose test too! Lemon lime was one of my choices too and cola but i went with the orange. Around here the beginning of November could be cold or warm so there's no way to predict what we'll need to bring baby home. I think i'll wait until a few weeks before and kind of see how the season is changing.
I just realized this morning that AUGUST IS HALF OVER!!! Seriously, wasn't yesterday the 1st?
Dh and i layed out a timeline/plan for finishing Miles' room this morning. I posted it in my journal but basically we're going to try and cram in a ton of stuff over Labor Day weekend. I feel better about getting it all done now.
katnbug- You made great progress on the nursery! Sorry you are stuck with heartburn. I've had that unpleasantry for quite awhile now. My doctor said to eat as many tums as it takes :) I've gone through 2-3 Sams size bottles over the last 24 weeks or so. I have no idea how that averages out but i'm sure it's several a day!
Peaches ~ I love gelato!! Have some for me, too.
nic ~ Yay for passing the 3 hour GTT!!
bijouparvin ~ Don't let my post scare you b/c apparently I was wrong... I don't have GD (yet anyway). More below about that. The symptoms of GD are similar to PG symptoms - thirst and frequent urination. We have a Dutailier and love it. You're going to really appreciate it when you start using it regularly. It's so comfortable. I have a big diaper bag collection and one of my faves is the Skip Hop. The camo print is cool!
RubberSoul ~ I love the Gymbo outfits you chose!! Gymboree is my favorite clothing store. It holds up really well. Did you sign up for their mailing list? They'll email you when they have special promotions. I usually buy stuff with GymBucks or when they have red dot sales. I know, their stuff is expensive! Congrats on passing the 1 hour GTT!
ppwgal ~ Ugh... I don't envy you having to move. That's great that you found a place though.
Sinclair319 ~ That's such a cute pic of you and your friend. You both look great!
ellidew ~ I think Children's Place has the cutest hats. I have a few for DD from there.
Kat ~ Can't wait to see the pics of your nursery. Isn't it a big relief to have that done? Sucks about the heartburn. I hope the Tums work.
Update... no GD! One of the PA's at my OB's office called today and asked me to schedule another u/s at my 31 week appt on 9/11. They want to check my amniotic fluid level again then. So I asked how badly I failed my 1 hour GTT and she said that I passed it! :confused: :) It was 118, which is midline. I'm happy, but totally confused b/c now I don't know what's causing the polyhydramnios and if it's not GD, then it could be a birth defect. I'm not freaking at this point though b/c I had late onset (30-32 weeks) GD with DD. The PA recommended testing my blood sugar with my meter 2 times/day a few times/week starting in my 29th week. She said that if I'm still neg for GD and I still have high fluid, that they'll probably do weekly NSTs. I had those with DD too - they hook you up to a monitor and check the baby's heartbeat and also uterine activity/contrax. You have to lie there for 20-30 minutes and it gets really boring.
Speaking of weight ~ No one here should feel bad AT ALL. I almost passed out when I saw my weight yesterday. I am 8 lbs. shy of what I was when I delivered DD! :eek: The weird thing is my pants still fit, my shoes still fit and my wedding rings still fit. The only thing that's tighter are my shirts. I have no idea what's going on with my weird body. I swear I'll probably gain another 20 lbs. before I have this baby.
I have very weird medical things happen to me. :p :o
ETA: I asked the PA how often the 1 hour GTT is wrong. She said that if you pass it, then it's 100% correct. The rate of failure comes into play when it shows that you fail it. When women fail it, there's a higher % that it's wrong.
catgirl- You are stronger than i am when it comes to not freaking out as was obvious by my reaction last Friday! Sounds like we are both in the ultrasound waiting game! I'm sure both of our babies are just fine though. Hopefully by Sept 11 we both have good news to share! I'll be thinking about you. I hear ya on the weight since i was one of the complainers. Though my pants dont fit and i think i'm going to have to switch to plus size pants but still Large shirts! Explain THAT one to me. Seriously, legs, butt, belly, boobs, neck and head. There's no space left anywhere!
ellidew ~ LOL! I told DH when I was PG last time that I thought I was carrying DD in my butt b/c it was getting so big. :D I think my pants still fit b/c I stretched them out nice and big when I was PG with DD. I lost all my PG weight the first time around and I was 35 when I had her, so it is doable (even w/out being a TV/movie star).
catgirl- That's awesome that you lost all the weight the first time. I know it can be done. I was down 30 lbs pre pg and i was doing la weight loss. Hopefully i will have enough control to lose a bunch of the weight while i'm bf'ing so i don't have to buy 800 more weeks at the center. lol.
Slow day on CC??? Where is everyone?
catgirl- Great news about the GD! Hopefully it doesn't creep up on you in the next months. Is there a possibility that the polyhydramnios is caused by something other than GD or a birth defect? Maybe if you have it with pg #1 it's more likely that you'll have it with #2 GD or not???
As for different weight gain- I've also found that I'm gaining it differently this time around. Unlike you, I didn't lose all of the weight gain from pg #1. I think I started this pregnancy about 10-15lbs higher than with DS. I'm growing out of all of my tops faster than my bottoms!
ellidew- Just think how much better off you are having lost those 30lbs before getting pregnant!! :) It's not easy gaining it back, I know... but it's for a good cause - and hopefully you'll lose it all quickly after baby!
nic- Good luck with the daycare search.
I need to go wake up DS from his nap which I hate to do. But I have a 3:30 appt. to get my Rhogam shot! Maybe he'll sleep in the car.... yeah, right.
I seem to be in a pregnancy haze these days and it appears that I've missed a bunch of posts! As in, completely skipped over them somehow! :eek:
rubbersoul~ That is an adorable doggie hat!!
ppwgal, nic~ Congratulations on passing the GTT!! I'm taking mine tomorrow, so fingers crossed that this sugar fiend passes it.
mayham~ Best of luck with the GTT!!
roberta, sinclair~ You both look fantastic!!
catgirl~ That's good news about no GD, but I do hope all is well with baby and 9/11 comes around pretty quickly so you can check everything out and make sure.
bijouparvin~ Cool Skip Hop diaper bag. I've got my eye on one of their bags called Black Dash. I'm really liking the simplicity of the style. :)
I just realized this morning that AUGUST IS HALF OVER!!! Seriously, wasn't yesterday the 1st?
Yes!! It was!! I can't believe Aug is half over either, where did it go?!?!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have no idea if I already posted this or not, I thought I had but I looked back a few pages and didn't see anything. Like I said, I've got this pregnancy haze floating around me right now.
I believe we may have decided on bedding for our little one:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/rancid13/babybedding005.jpg
It's called Turtle Bay, which happens to be the same name as our favorite resort in Hawaii that we stayed at last Sept. And we both love the ocean-y colors too.
This will be some of the artwork we're buying to decorate (from www.whimsicle.net, a local area artist I happened across last summer):

katnbug- I know it! I can't imagine having to lose this and THAT. 30 lbs was better than nothing but i wish i could've had enough self control to only gain 30 while pg! lol. Oh well, what can i do now.
Can someone please talk me out of the french fries/hot fudge sundae combo i'm currently craving? I should probably go buy an apple or something.
Rancid- I LOVE the bedding you chose! It's adorable. Also, that artist is amazing. I was just looking on the website you posted and i'm in love with this painting...

I'm not sure it goes with my barnyard theme though :) and i never did find neutral bedding i liked so we had to revert back to the barnyard animals because nothing beat it out. I wish this artist did that dog in a cow and a pig or something.

nic- I hope all goes well with your daycare search.
catgirl- That is great that you don't have GD! I think someone else asked this, but is it possible you just have more fluid for no apparent reason? I will have to sign up for the Gymboree mailing list. They have really cute stuff, but I have a hard time spending that much money on clothes when the baby will grow out of them so quickly. I will have to wait for the sales!
Rancid- I love the bedding you picked out and that artwork is amazing!
Pediatrician- We went to the open house last night and it was great. I really liked the doctors that we met. They seem to be very supportive of breastfeeding mothers and that is important to me. I felt very comfortable asking them questions, which is a good thing since I will be asking for advice a lot in the beginning! We have decided to go with them since we liked them so much and they came highly recommended by friends of ours.

Sorry for giving everyone the french fries/sundae craving. I'm afraid you are all on your own though. I've moved onto a grilled cheese sandwich/uncle bens broccoli cheese and rice soup craving :D
http://www.unclebens.com/images/product/HSBC.gif
I highly recommend it if you've never had it before. But personally i think the broccoli portion is yucky because it always seems like freeze dried stems to i sift those out.
It's okay to eat this for dinner if i had a salad for lunch, right?
Rubbersoul- Sounds like the open house was perfect since it helped you make a decision. I look forward to putting the ped decision behind me asap!
Rancid- I looked at her prices too and think they are very reasonable. Unfortunately there aren't any pieces that will fit in my nursery. I think i'm going to end up painting something on my own.

We're definitely getting the 2 sea turtle prints, and I know DH wanted to paint some pictures for the baby's room too since he's the artist in the family (I'm more of a stick figure drawer person). Maybe some more sea-life pictures to go with the theme. :)

ellidew~ I have seen the PB ocean critters stuff. I'm in love with the bathroom stuff (rug, towels, etc) but unfortunately baby won't have his own bathroom (I have my own and DH has the other one). Rancid- We only have ONE bathroom! lol. I love the oc bath mat with the octopus on it. We hope to add a half bath to the basement somewhere down the line but we were in a time crunch to finish the basement period so there was no time or money to do more work. I'd rather have the baby than the bathroom ;)
I just got back from the grocery store. Grilled cheese and Uncle Bens Broccoli Cheese and Rice soup is on the dinner menu tonight. I bought Clam Chowder for dh. I have to race home and make it and eat it because i'll only have about 30 mins at home before we have to race off to lamaze class. 3 of 6 tonight so we're at the halfway mark. I can't wait for the hospital tour next week. The instructor said they wont just show us the hospital and instead show us the hospital and tell us what to expect while we are there and what the different things are used for. Since i have no clue what goes on in a l&d room i need all the info i can get before it's time! lol.

Ugh. I am having the worst time signing up for prenatal classes. I've got the breastfeeding and newborn care class taken care of, but I can't find a prenatal class that will fit into our schedule. And I live in San Francisco. There are literally dozens of places that offer childbirth prep classes. But somehow all of the intensive classes are offered on dates that just won't work for us. And the series either start too late or cover the two weeks we will be out of town. My last chance is trying to find someone to do a private intensive class at our house. Jeez Louise.
On a brighter note :p our stroller showed up yesterday on my birthday of all days. I'm so excited! DH put it together and I love it. Along with getting our rocker last week, I'm just tickled pink. DH also got me an amazing leather diaper bag for my birthday that I am tempted to start carrying now as a purse, it is that fabulous.

For some reason I always have this fear that no one will show up. I had the same fear about my wedding. I think the shower is going to be held on Oct. 22nd, which is funny because that day is my one year wedding anniversary. DH will be in Canada, so we won't be together to celebrate. A Baby Shower sounds like a good way to celebrate being married for a year :). My only concern is that I will be about 37 weeks at that point. Is anyone else having their shower that late?

Morning ladies!
We had such a good weekend. Our 3D/4D us was amazing. Even better was the massage afterwards. HEAVEN! My back felt better afterward than it has in quite a while. And I've somehow conviced DH to let me go back every few weeks to get a massage until baby girl is born. I've had a history of back problems, so I can justify it, right?! ;)
Anyway, it was incredible to watch the u/s. Right when they turned it on, she was hanging out smiling away in there. Then she started grabbing and playing with her toes/feet. Just amazing!!! Here's one of the still photos we got (we also went home wtih a DVD of the whole thing):
My precious baby girl

:D :D :D
Other than that excitement, we finished painting the walls in the nursery. All that needs to be done now is the trim, which is no big deal at all. I'd like to get that done this week/weekend.
And all of a sudden, I'm putting on weight!! I've gained 4 pounds in the past 3 weeks or so. I'm up a total of 15 pounds, which is still good, but my eyes bug out when I see those numbers going up so much every week! :p
Ugh, gotta run - BBL for SO's and QOTDs.
Rubbersoul- I'll be 35 weeks at mine. I was stressing over it a little but I figure we'll have the basic necessities (car seat, diapers, coming home outfit, crib) before then so I'm just going to sit back and not worry about the fact that I'll probably be huge and uncomfortable and/or deliver early by then.
What's everyone's plan for going back to work? I'm planning on taking 14 weeks off and hopefully going back to work 4 days a week. My MIL is watching the baby 1 day a week so we'll have to find a daycare for 3 days.

mayham- Yeah, baby vs bathroom wasn't a tough decision. lol.
citygirl- Happy belated birthday.
Rubbersoul- Yay for the shower! People will show up don't worry. It kind of sucks that dh will be away for you anniversary and the excitement of the shower though. I think 37 weeks is pretty late to have a shower but that's just because i'd need more than a couple of weeks to get everything organized and put together ;) My cousins shower was 2 weeks before her due date. Then i had a friend tell me about the wife of a friend of hers who gave birth 4 weeks early on THE DAY OF her shower! Anything can happen. Just look forward to it and have a good time!
Lilla - Awesome u/s photo. Since i'm being forced to go in for a level II u/s i hope they do the 3D! The doctor said it was a possibility. How cool that you got to see your little girl playing with her feet and stuff. I bet that was just amazing! I'm glad you enjoyed your massage too. I'm going to need one of those in the next few weeks because i can just feel the stress building up all over!
What's everyone's plan for going back to work? It kind of depends on when Miles is born. I'll work until i can't work anymore or until our due date. That could be the 2nd week in November though. If we deliver earlier then i'll take time off starting then as well as all of November and December. I also plan to take the first week in Jan off to get things back to normal after the holidays are over. If for some reason we deliver late and don't deliver until the 2-4th week in November i'll take between 6-8 weeks off, hopefully more like 8!
I also plan to go back 4 days a week. I currently work Monday - Thursday for 9 hours and 4 hours on Friday. I plan to scratch Friday altogether and have a 3 day weekend every weekend! lol. My MIL is going to watch Miles 1-2 days a week (she told us in passing one day that she'd watch him one day a week but dh is hoping to convince her to do 2 days a week at least until he is 6-12 months old.) The other 2-3 days he'll be in child care.

plan for going back to work- I am going to take 12 weeks off. As of right now my last day is set to be Nov. 10th, which is the Friday before my due date. I am hoping that I don't start my leave and then have to wait a week or two for the baby to decide to come. I wish I could work all the way up until I deliver, but that just isn't possible. I have to train a temp. to do my job and it just isn't practical for my employer to pay me and the temp. for any longer than necessary. On the other hand I worry that I won't have the temp. fully trained if I deliver early! The plan right now is to have them ready to go by the end of October. Anyway, once my 12 weeks are up I will be back in the office full-time. DH is going to be a SAHD. It is a little scary to think that I will be our only source of income, but lots of people only have one spouse that works.
ellidew- I agree that trying to get all of the stuff organized in the last few weeks will be a little stressful. I also fear that I will deliver early. For some reason I just don't think that this baby is going to wait until the 13th of November. I have a strange feeling that he is going to show up around the 1st week of November. Then again I was convinced I was having a girl and I was wrong about that!
Lilla- The u/s photo is very cute!

Rubbersoul- If nothing else just make sure you have the necessities and if you deliver early and before your shower then it can be a meet the baby party/shower! It will work out. Planning for all the 'what ifs' is so darn hard!
Like, what if the baby weighs 9+ lbs and doesn't fit into a newborn size coming home outfit? Then again, what if you buy a 0-3mo outfit and the baby only weighs 6 lbs and is swimming in the clothes? Oy! :D

Happy belated birthday, citygirl! Any chance you could post a picture of the new diaper bag? I'm on the hunt for a good diaper bag right now... :)
rubbersoul~ That's great news that you're getting a shower!! Mine is being thrown one month from today, at which point I'll be just over 29 weeks. The co-hostesses' fall schedules were pretty busy and I didn't want to push the shower to the 38+ week mark. Plus, we registered for ALL necessities, including big things like car seat, stroller and so forth...so I wanted to make sure everything was in order a good month or 2 before my due date. :)
lilla~ How neat that you got to do the 3D/4D u/s! The images from those u/s's have always sort of creeped me out (I know I'm weird), but that would be neat to be able to see what baby's doing in there~playing around and whatnot. Was the massage something they did at the u/s place, or did you get a prenatal massage elsewhere? It sounds heavenly...my back is aching this morning...maybe I can talk DH into booking me a pregnancy massage at the nearby spa. :D
What's everyone's plan for going back to work? Like ellidew, I plan on working either up to my due date or until I can't work anymore. Since I have a desk job, that shouldn't be too difficult unless any complications arise of course. I plan on taking 6-8 weeks off after delivery but will play it by ear when the time comes. I work in a very small office suite, and we have 1 empty office in the back that is currently not being used. I've been told that we could use it for the baby if need be, if I want to come back early and/or bring him with me to work. My mom was a 3rd grade teacher but her school closed down after the conclusion of this last school year so she's planning on being a full-time grandma to my brother's little girl and to our little one come Dec/Jan so that takes care of the childcare situation if I don't feel comfortable bringing him to work with me in those early months.

OK, back for some SO's...
sare The nursery looks great! I'm so jealous that you are so far along with it.
rubbersoul OMG, I love that oufit - the doggie hat it to die for!!!
roberta, sinclair, rancid You ladies look fantastic!
catgirl Happy to hear that you passed the GTT!
rancid I got the black Skip Hop Dash myself. I agree with you - the simplicity of the design is what drew me to it. I really like it - seems like it will fit the bill quite well. Re: the massage - it was done at the same place as the u/s. We have a spa here called Becoming Mom which basically caters toward expectant moms (of course). They do the 3D/4D us's there at the imaging center and then offer a whole slew of spa services tailored to pregnant ladies as well. Neat place!
citygirl Happy belated birthday! Sorry you're having a hard time with the classes. We had a hard time scheduling our childbirth class. No matter which one we chose, somehow there was a schedule conflict. So, as it is, DH is going to have to miss one of the classes, but that was the best option we had.
Shower I'm having 2 showers on consecutive weekends. First shower is Labor Day weekend and second shower is the weekend following. I'll be 30 and 31 weeks, respectively. The worst part is that both are out of town so we have to figure out how to bring everything home. Yikes!
Plan for going back to work My company requires me to stop working 2 weeks before I'm due. So, October 20 will be my last day of work. I plan to take six months off, so assuming the baby is born on time, I'll go back to work in May. I figure it will be a nice time to be at home and hibernate during the winter with my little girl. ;) But once I go back to work, I'll go back full time and we'll be socked with that daycare expense. :eek:

Happy Birthday citygirl!
Lilla, your u/s picture is amazing!!
What's everyone's plan for going back to work? - Here the law permits to stay at home 5 months. Usually 2 before and 3 after but if the woman is healthy and the doctor agrees could be 1 before and 4 after. So I hope to stay at home
from 22nd October till the 22nd of March. Then there will be Easter holidays from 5th to 17th April... ;) More time with the baby!!

A relief: I just got off the phone with the perinatal center at the hospital. Last Friday they said i could call on Wednesday to see if there have been any cancellations for ultrasounds. Initially the woman said that there probably weren't any because she just checked yesterday for someone. She checked once then double checked and upon her double check she found an open appointment for 10:30 TOMORROW MORNING! So, my u/s follow up is no longer on 9/1 and is instead 8/17!
I seriously have butterflies in my stomach. I had kind of let the entire thing go and wasn't feeling too uneasy about it even though i knew as it drew closer that i would start to get nervous. Now that it's tomorrow i feel overwhelmed all of a sudden. Like i didn't have enough time to prepare for it. I'm weird, i know. But, it's tomorrow so hopefully all turns out well and we find out for sure that we are having a healthy and happy Miles (not a Millie! lol.)

Shower- I am having 2. Joel's family is huge and the women alone amount to almost 16, so adding my family and friends would be way too many people. My SIL (Joel's sister) is throwing a family one at our house on October 1st and is planning it with her two cousins. My friends shower is a couples shower that my friend Sarah is throwing at her house with a book theme on September 10th (she is due October 4th, so we are being mindfull of her due date and mine).
Going back to work- I live in Canada and we are fairly lucky here. We get one year of leave. The first 2 weeks are a waiting period for benefits (unpaid by govt, but I work for govt so I get paid sick time), the next 15 weeks are maternity benefits, and the following 35 can be divided by both parents. I will be taking 33 of those weeks and Joel will take two of them at the same time. You get paid aprox. 55% of your wage while on maternity/parental leave by the federal government, but because I have a really good benefits plan, I make about 85% of my wage while I am off, and still keep all of my medical and dental benefits.
At my job, you have to have a doctor's note to work past 34 weeks of pregnancy, and my doc thinks that's when I should go off, so my last day of work is October 6th. I return to work in October of 2007, and am hoping to job share and work part time then. My SIL works at a daycare and we are already on the list, so she will take her on the days I have to work.
Lilla- Your baby girl is gorgeous! :)
CityGirl- Happy belated birthday! I thought people were crazy when they told me to register for prenatal classes when I was only 3 months along, but I am glad I did. A girlfriend of mine waited and she couldn't get in.
Rancid13- I love that bedding! It is so cute!
RubberSoul- I was thinking that no one would plan a shower for me either. I said something to DH and my mom and I guess they spread the word. My SIL offered first and then I freaked out at how many people would all be crammed into our house and that my friends wouldn't come, and my friend offered to throw one. I am very grateful for that. I feel like I asked for mine, but I am trying not to feel too bad about it.

ellidew - I'm glad you don't to wait until September. Good luck tomorrow!
What's everyone's plan for going back to work? - I'll be out for 12 weeks, then plan to go back full time. We need to start thinking about daycare options very soon. I'm also going to see if I can work from home 1-2 days per week so I can cut out a commute on those days, but I wouldn't be able to work from home and take care of the baby at the same time.
Lilla - That is a great 3d/4d us pic! I hadn't been thinking about doing that, because the few pics I've seen, the babies look like aliens. But yours looks great -- your little girl is so cute! I think I'll see if any place near me does them... I would love to see my baby again!
body pillow - I finally bought one, and it definitely helps me sleep, and I don't end up on my back as much. I was skeptical, but I have to say, I am impressed.

Yay!! SO glad to hear that!! I completely understand about the butterflies in the tummy; when the day came of my 2nd u/s I was like that all morning until I finally went in. You're just anticipating the appt and anxious to find out about the wee little one. :)
body pillow~ I got one a couple months ago at BB&B, but don't care for it too much. It feels too big? I also got a Boppy Cuddle Pregnancy Pillow (it's shaped like a big comma) which I've been using for the last 2 weeks or so, and I LOVE it to death!!

Rancid- Thanks for telling me that my feelings are valid. Sometimes i feel like a crazy woman and i don't know if the hormones are to blame or not. It seems like such a cop out to say that sometimes.
I have the same body pillow from bb&b. It only cost $10!

I actually like it though. It is on the bed between dh and me and i use it as a back support. Then i use 2 regular pillows on the front. One to support the belly and one to put between my legs. This has worked well for me.
Mayham- Thank you! Fingers crossed!

Ellidew- It makes perfect sense to me that having the u/s tomorrow would be scary! I would be the same way if I had mentally prepared myself for the wait and then didn't have to wait as long. I am happy that you are going to get the u/s early though so you can get some answers to all the uncertainties. Good luck tomorrow!
body pillow- I have the $10 body pillow too. It does the job for me and has helped me stay off my back. I have the body pillow on one side and then a regular pillow on the other. Prior to getting pregnant I was a back or stomach sleeper and it has been a struggle to sleep only on my side!
Sare79- I figure most people love a party! Doesn't really matter whose idea it was ;).
Lilla- The hat was the reason I had to buy the outfit! I could have just gotten the hat, but everything looked so cute all together I just couldn't resist!

Ellidew--Yeah for the u/s getting moved to tomorrow!
leave-My last scheduled day of work is Oct 27th--a week before I'm due, although I'd be happy to go anytime after Oct 13 (I'm teaching a class through the 12th and just want to finish it, then he's welcome to come anytime). I'm returning Feb 5th (approx 12 weeks leave) 3 days a week, then I'll be back to FT in March. Hopefully this will help with my adjustment and the adjustment to our check book with the added daycare expense!
Off to get my Rhogam shot--what fun! :rolleyes:

lilla- Awesome 3D/4D u/s picture!!!
ellidew- That's good news that you can get in for you u/s tomorrow! Better to get the worrying over with so you can enjoy the next 2 months!!!
As far as stressing over the hospital outfit for your DS... it's just a crap shoot! We had a 0-3m outfit for our DS and he was swimming in it. And he was 8lbs 9oz. :rolleyes: In most of the pictures you couldn't really tell though, so only DH and I saw it. Better too big than too small I guess.
Rancid- Love the bedding you picked out.. and the fact that it's named after one of your favorite places is cool. :)
Very cute artwork too.
Happy belated birthday citygirl!!

I had a lovely experience with a crazy girl today. DS and I were walking into Best Buy and crossing the lane of traffic in front of the store (DS was walking holding my hand, so we were going slow); and some girl comes speeding at us as we were crossing the driveway. I turned and looked at her to see if she would slow down and she stopped her car and started yelling at me "what are you looking at?" I kept walking but had to say something so I'm like "go a little slower or you're going to run someone over" she swore at me and drove off... Some people are idiots.:mad:

What's everyone's plan for going back to work?
Am I the only SAHM in our group? Or the only one not planning to work after baby's arrival? I became a SAHM while pregnant with DD only because we moved to a new state in 2004 and getting my Teacher's certification would have taken too long before going on Maternity Leave, then quit completely. So far, I love the decision to stay home, but there are moments when I miss teaching. September makes me nostalgic. ;)
pillow~ I also have the body pillow from BB & B! LOVE IT! It is wonderful used in the front for me, then another under my head. Sometimes I do use it on my back, but mostly front.
Ellidew~ Our follow up U/S is tomorrow too! Good luck at yours. I hope to have energy to post in the afternoon with our update.
Anyone else dealing with allergies or congestion? I am so stuffed up! I will ask my OB what I can take tomorrow. I also have a cold sore which is just nasty and can't use the cream I normally put on it because it is not safe for baby. :(
Hope everyone is well! Our trip to VT was nice, but exhausting.

Sorry I've been MIA. DH and I went on a Babymoon/belated Anniversary trip to Pebble Beach, San Francisco and Napa. We had a blast.
Plan for Return to Work I am not sure about this. Right now I am debating between being a SAHM and doing a flex schedule. We have a 5 in 2 option (you work 2 days one week, and 3 days the next- for a total of 5 days in 2 weeks.) I have talked to my director- and if I come back- this is what I will do. I am taking 6 months off for maternity leave- so that will give me some time to decide. If I do work part-time- my sister will keep my baby on the days I work.
Pillow I am in love with my Snoogle. I am a back sleeper- so this has made it so much easier for me to sleep on my side.
Good Luck to those with u/s today! I will be praying for you!
Rancid I think I posted before- that we are using the ocean critters line from PBK- because my DH loves turtles. I may have to swipe your idea and buy those prints- they are perfect! Thanks for posting the link!

ellidew and neenbean Good luck at your US today!
Plan for returning to work? I was working as a case manager for disbaled children. We relocated in May and I started SAH then. We had always planned for me to be a SAHM and I would have only been employed for like six months before quitting. I plan to start back on my nursing degree next fall and then maybe work part time. So neen you aren't the only SAHM!
pillow not really using any extra pillows, I think I move around too much at night! I keep an extra pillow next to the bed and occassionally put that between my legs. I am pretty comfortable sleeping on my side or semi on my stomach. I only end up on my back when I am waking up in the morning.
alergies Have been driving me crazy! I have seasonal allergies and I am allergic to mold. I know it is going to get worse for me in the fall! I just started taking Claritin every day and using a saline nasal spray. My MW said Afrin, Sudafed and Benedryl were okay to use too.

neenbean Nope, I'm a SAHM too. In fact, my sitaution is a lot like yours because I had quit my job in MA a few months before we moved to KY and then when we got to KY I could not find a job at all. I worked as a Compensation Analyst for a teaching hospital in Boston and since Lexington is so small, there weren't many positions like that compared to a bigger city. I kept looking but then I got pregnant with DD, so it didn't make much sense for me to start something full time when I would have needed to request time off (that I wasn't legally entitled to) just a few short months later. I agree that staying home is wonderful, but there are definitely days when going back to work sounds really good! :D

neenbean- I was having issues with cold sores too for a while. Seemed like I would get rid of one and then another one would show up. The only thing I have ever found to work really well is made by a company called pure lip (http://www.purelip.com/). It used to take a few weeks for a cold sore to go away and this stuff will help get rid of it in about a week plus the severity of the cold sore is cut down quite a bit. It never occured to me to ask my Dr. about using it while pregnant, but I just figured it would be fine since it is made mostly of zinc. I hope all goes well at your u/s today!
katnbug- Don't you just love the wacky people in the world. I think I have encountered every bad driver on the planet since getting pregnant. It seems like every other day I have some idiot on the road trying to cause an accident around me.

Anyone else dealing with allergies or congestion? A little of both...I'm not sure if you recall my recent skin dilemma (itchy irritated skin on my entire body), but it was determined by the dr I saw about it that I have 'allergic skin'. She said that I have allergies, but instead of getting the standard sniffles/red watery eyes, my allergies manifest themselves in my skin, thus making it extremely sensitive and constantly irratated. She prescribed me an oral steroid to take for about a week, and also advised me to take a Claritin every day. I've been doing this and it's been helping ENORMOUSLY. I feel like a new person. My ob has Claritin on the list of 'okayed' OTC drugs to take. I'm definitely more congested in the am these days too.
body pillow Man BB&B must sell a LOT of those suckers! I have the same one! Although the cover I got for it cost more than the darn pillow itself! :rolleyes:
Same here! I got what was supposed to be a black pillowcase, but when it came out of the dryer after a cold wash it looked brown. :( My BB&B body pillow looks like a big poop now. :eek:
Rancid I think I posted before- that we are using the ocean critters line from PBK- because my DH loves turtles. I may have to swipe your idea and buy those prints- they are perfect! Thanks for posting the link!
No problem!! I think her prints are adorable...

I had my GTT 1-hour test yesterday. Got the orange-flavored drink. I don't care for orange-flavored sodas/drinks but it wasn't that bad, IMO. They even chilled it for me. I'm really hoping I pass, as I'm such a sugar fiend that that can't possibly be in my favor. Not to mention that I am 1/2 hispanic, and I guess they're (we're?) a high-risk group although my mom (that's where I get it from) and all the women on her side of the family never had GD. Fingers crossed I guess!!

Scarlett ~ congrats on passing the 4 hr GTT!!
Work ~ I'm a SAHM, too. I quit my job b4 DD was born.
I have another friend who is in need of prayers... she's 25 weeks and went to the hosp yesterday for really bad menstrual-like cramps. Turns out she was in PTL and is now 100% effaced and just over 2cm dilated! They gave her magnesium to stop the contrax and are giving her steroids to speed up baby's lung development (that will take 3 days). They transferred her to a high risk hosp and she's in bed, can't walk, has a catheter, and the bed is tilted so that her head is below her hips. At 25 weeks her DD has a 50-60% chance of survival. They'd like to get her to at least 28 weeks b/c the odds go up to 90%. She said there are 7 women on the L&D floor there w/ PTL. She's in good spirits. She has a DD who will be 2 in Dec., so that's hard for he b/c she'll be in the hosp for at least 3 weeks or until she delivers and won't see her DD very much.
What's going on with pregnancies this year?? :confused:

I'm a SAHM mom as well. Also quit working just before DS was born. Sometimes being home drives me nutty... but I wouldn't trade it for the old job I had working in an office of all immature salesmen!!! :)
allergies- BIG TIME. Never had an issue before getting pregnant this time around. My only symptom is sneezing and totally closed nasal passages. My dr. said Afrin is fine - I'm now addicted because it's the only thing that seems to allow me to breathe. Claritin was also suggested, but it didn't do anything for me. I sure hope this goes away after DD is born.
ellidew & neenbean- Good luck with your u/s today!!
scarlett- Congrats on passing the 4hr!!

Trying to get my stuff together for our vacation. We leave Saturday for a week at a lake house in Wisconsin. So many things to pack for DS alone!
I have to report a great clearance item I got at Target. I found a Compass Booster B500 car seat marked down from $89.99 to $22.00. It was definitely not used or anything, just returned.. I just had to buy it. I always check the baby section at Target when I go there for returned items. They mark returns down a ton. When we had DS I got a $40.00 safety gate for $8.00. :eek:

catgirl Thinking of your friend and her baby. How scary!
The mention of hospital bed rest made me think of my sister. She is in med school and currently doing a rotation on OB. She calls and tells me all of these interesting and sometimes scary stories. But she is a great source of information. She was born at 30 weeks gestation (back in the 70's!) and has been very healthy, except for her asthma. I told DH last night that I have 3 weeks until the time that my sister was born! Scary! He said we are not having a baby in 3 weeks!
katnbug Enjoy your vacation! I live near the Wis. border and we are having great weather right now!
scarlett Congrats on passing the 4 hour!

Wow, this thread is on fire! It looks like every time I check in, I’ll forever be trying to catch up! :p I have a ton of relatives from Hawaii visiting for a bit and so it has been hustle and bustle since their arrival! It is so nice to see them, but so, so, SO tiring as well.
…
Sleeping normally? Lately it has been pretty rough. My relatives are on a different time zone [3 hours behind] and are always up past midnight. It is hard trying to sleep through a 1 ½ year old screaming and random adult’s chit chatting and laughing at all hours. Monday night, I could not sleep at all. I ended up sleeping at around 3 am! Bah. I hate nights like those. I am always a walking zombie the following day. I cannot wait until the weekend to catch up on sleeeep.
Cravings? I don’t have a particular craving. Usually if I think of something long enough, I’ll want it, but it is never something constantly. I love the thought of chocolate and all things sweet but that’s because I’ve been restricted from it due to my GD diet. You know, how it goes – you always want it when you can’t have it. Such is the case for me! Unfortunately.
[B]Plans for after work? Ugh. This has been such a debate since the moment I found out I was pregnant. Originally, I had planned to be a SAHM for at least a year but with a brand new house, we may need my income to get by for a bit. We are currently on a waiting list [a year waiting list!!] at a really great daycare center at DH’s work so we have time to think about it if we happen to change our minds. I really, really, REALLY would like to SAH, though. The thought of sending my 3 month old baby to someone else kills me. Seriously. Sometimes I even cry thinking about it. Siiigh.
I have already put in my maternity leave [or rather, short term disability] paperwork so all is set. My first day is the day I give birth [unless God forbid, something happens before then…] I plan to work until I can and then take 12 weeks off using some FMLA time after my STD has run out.
Body pillow? I have a Snoogle, too and I lurrrrve it! I take up most of the bed which drives DH batty, I’m sure but it is all about comfort!
Allergies/Congestion? I am plagued with seasonal allergies but thankfully it hasn’t been so bad this year. I do battle with congestion in the morning which I guess causes me to snore, too! I was never a snorer, but according to my DH, I have become quiet the snoring champion! LOL. I hope it goes away after the baby is born! :rolleyes:
…
DH and I missed our first day of birthing class this week! He had a work related issue to take care of and could not get out of it in time. I did not want to go by myself so I called the hospital to see if we could make it up and fortunately, we can. We will continue to go to our usual session on Tuesday and then take the first session of class with the Thursday night session group. Two days of classes in one week – talk about information overload!! Yikes! :eek:
Also, our 3D/4D is on Saturday! I totally cannot wait to see our little girl again! [I am definitely having the tech take a second peek to make sure she is indeed a girl! LOL!]:)
Breaking this post off..

katnbug, congrats on passing the 1 hour GTT!! :)
Ugh. Heartburn is the worst! I get it on occasion but it has been pretty mild. I find that I get it more when I eat spicy and/or greasy foods. Extra Strength TUMS will def come in handy!
OMG, what a psycho driver chick you encountered the other day! I swear, some people are so rude and obnoxious that is just sucks! People who think they own the roads are nothing but trouble! I encounter them quite a bit in the Seattle area, tooo! Boo!
ellidew: Good luck on your u/s! I hope they find all the answers and it is good news! I can only imagine how hard the wait must be for this day to finally come! Talk about pins and needles, eh? Please be sure to keep us updated!
Love the glider – it looks really comfy! Is it micro fiber? I registered for a micro fiber glider, too! Love the "Made in Mexico" onesie as well. ;)
Rancid: You looked very lovely at your reunion! You definitely have that pregnancy glow! How was the reunion? I missed out on mine last year because I was vacationing in Hawaii. Definitely not bummed about that! Heh.
I absolutely love the bedding you’ve chosen for your little one! It reminds me so much of home [Hawaii]. Will you be decorating the nursery similar to how it is on the pic?
Good luck on your GTT!! I hope you pass!
Roberta: Your nursery looks fab! [and so do you, btw!] I can’t believe how fast you all are with completing the nursery! We haven’t even ordered our crib yet! Yikes!
Sare: Beautiful u/s pics! Love the picture of her foot! Your nursery looks great, too! I love the dragonfly mobile! I am all about unique baby things! Does it carry a tune as well? Where did you get it, if you don’t me asking.
Catgirl1007: Congrats on passing the 1 hour!!!! That’s so freakin’ awesome! Sorry to hear about the polyhydramnios, though. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you don’t have to be put on bedrest because of it!
Oh no! Another friend? Yikes. Well, I will definitely keep her in my thoughts and prayers. I’m glad to hear that she is in good spirits, though.
nic: Yay, for passing the 3 hour!! I am bummed that I didn’t even get a chance to do the 3 hour after failing the 1 hour GTT!
Peaches: Soo jealous of your trip to Italy!! It sounds like a ton of fun!! I am in dire need of a vacay but it looks like that won’t be happening for awhile!
bijouparvin: Let me know how you like the Graco Snap’n Go Stroller! It looks like it is super easy to use [I liiiike easy!] and light! I bought my DH a skip hop duo as well – only his is black! He really digs it! I wish I had seen the camo one first, but I don’t think Nordies had them in stock when I bought it. Oh well.
Rubbersoul: OMG, how cute is that doggy outfit and hat? Don’t you just love those “I just have to have it” moments? I get them ALL.THE.TIME!!
Congrats on passing the GTT as well!!
Sinclair319: You are one gorgeous mama-to-be! Sounds like you scored big time at your shower!! That’s always nice, isn’t it!?
CityGirl: Happy Belated Birthday!!
Lilla: I am in aww of your 3D pics! DH and I will be having ours done on Saturday! We cannot wait to see our little girl again – and to hopefully capture a good look at her face! Your little girl looks so peaceful in that picture – is she sleeping?
scarlet: Congrats on passing the 4 hour GTT! [4 hours?! Wow….]
…
Eek! Sorry so long! I hope I didn't miss anybody?!

I’ll give my update before my SO’s.
Our baby BOY is PERFECTLY FINE!!! They checked everything. Measured the head, looked at the heart, confirmed without a doubt the boy parts(since we were as unsure about that as we were about the spine), checked the other organs, and most importantly they saw the entire spine and said it looks perfect! OMG, what a relief! I feel 100% better and I’m so glad I didn’t have to wait 2+ more weeks for all that confirmation! Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to us. Now we are back to just waiting for our little boy to make his debut. (well, that and the other 100 things we have to do to prepare for his arrival!)
Miles is measuring about two weeks ahead at 3lb 2oz. I started LA Weight loss today though they aren’t allowed to coach me or let me go to meetings they did talk to me yesterday and picked the plan they thought was the best to maintain my weight and not gain anymore. They said that if I start to lose or gain that I should switch plans because this plan should put me on a healthy maintenance schedule. I feel good about everything today. I feel good that the baby is okay and I feel good that I have finally come to my senses to take care of us better… mostly my weight gain though. I’d love to avoid having an October baby too! I really really want a November baby so hopefully with us on a diet we both slow down the weight gain. I hope to not see any change in the scale at my 30 week appt next Friday.
When you go in for an ultrasound do you take an entourage? Seriously, there was one woman that had 5 additional people with her and another one that had 4-5 kids and another adult with her. Even the doctor commented on it during my appt because the woman with all the kids was before me. She said they were out of control! I’m just curious. I only take dh to appts with me and he only goes to the exciting ones!
Lilla- Thank you! I’m so relieved to know that everything is okay and I don’t have to wait to find out for sure.
Neenbean- I hope your u/s goes as well as ours did. I’m thinking about you!!
Lisainpink- I’m so glad you had a nice trip. What a great way to relax and take your mind off of everything. I hope you feel relaxed!
Thanks Roberta- I’m relieved to report that all is well. lol at what your husband said about having a baby in 3 weeks. My dh would flip out especially since we aren't even remotely prepared!
Rancid- Good luck on the results from the GTT! Did they tell you how long it will take to get the results back? I LOVE that tank. I wish it came in a t-shirt though. I haven’t been to the ON site in a while so I’m going to go peak around.
Scarlet- YAY! CONGRATULATIONS on passing!
Catgirl- My appt was at 10:30 this morning but I didn’t even go back with the technician until 12:00!! I spent way too much time in their waiting room! I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. When it rains it pours, doesn’t it? Keep us posted on her and the baby and I’ll keep them in my thoughts. I hope all is well though.
Katnbug- Have a wonderful trip to Wisconsin this weekend! Target is great for clearance items and what a deal you got! Dh and I make it a habit to walk the ends of all the aisles when we are there in search of good deals! I heart Target!
euphorhea- Tell me about it... i think we are all online today! Have fun at your ultrasound coming up. I bet it's exciting to have a 3D done. Can't wait to see the pictures and mine as well make sure it's a girl... i made sure mine is a boy! lol. The glider is microfiber and it is SOO comfy! I like microfiber because it's so easy to clean! I hope you love yours as much as i love mine.
Thanks again for thinking about us! I’ll post pics as soon as I get them scanned in. I have a good face shot and a good food shot but they aren’t 3D.
ETA: I hope i didn't miss any SO's there were a lot of them to do this post! Hope everyone is well though.

ellidew Oh, I am SO SO SO happy and relieved for you!!! And even better is that you were able to get all this good news even earlier than you had expected. YAY!!
euphorhea Actually, no she wasn't really sleeping at all during the u/s! We got all the face shots right away because for a while she was just lying there hanging out playing with her toes. And we had the tech check to verify that she was still a girl as well!!! Ask the tech also to see if she's got any hair yet - while the machine is in the 2D mode, they can look to see if there is any peach fuzz yet. Our little girl had some!! :D
rancid My BB&B body pillow looks like a big poop now
LOL!
I love that ON tank, too. I wish they had it in a regular t-shirt though. Summer is going to start winding down here in the midwest soon so I'm having a hard time justifying buying it - though I REALLY want it!

ellidew ~ CONGRATS!! I'm so glad to hear that Miles is well and that he is Miles and not Millie. ;) I bet you are so relieved!! I was thinking about you today. That sucks that it took so long to get back to see the u/s tech - I bet it seemed like forever! That entourage to the u/s screening sounds like a bit much. I've never had more than my mom and my DD OR my DH and my DD.
roberta ~ That is amazing what they were able to do for your sister when she was born so early. I bet she does have a lot of interesting stories for you in her profession.
Kat ~ Have fun up north. I don't envy you all that packing!
euphorhea ~ Do you think your DH will be likely to change his mind about you SAH after you DD is born? DH & I were on the fence about me going back to work, but after DD was born and he saw her, he said that I was definitely staying home. I was glad b/c I wanted to stay home. I was just wondering about your DH b/c you know how guys are with their baby girls. :) That was the angle that I played anyway to get things to work out in my favor.

mayham - Congrats on passing the GTT!
Lilla - How did you find a place to do the 3d/4d? That pic is so great. I'd love to have an u/s of our girl that's more current than the 18w3d ones we have from our level II. Was it expensive?
ellidew - What a relief for you! Congratulations to Miles for being perfectly intact and quite male. ;) About the entourage, I brought DH and two of my parents to the Level II, but I asked permission first. 5 kids? Seriously?
euphorhea - My BFF and her DS were visiting over the past few days so I got to see the Snap'n'Go in action and it was DEFINITELY easy. Their little guy is 6 mo's and still fits into the infant seat. It was literally just SNAP and Go! Can't wait to see pics from your 3d/4d!
roberta - No, definitely NO baby for you in three weeks! It's encouraging that our kiddos are getting big enough to survive outside of us in an emergency, but I think it's still best if we all get them to "cook through" before delivery. :p
katnbug - Have fun on your vacation! And go you for getting such stellar deals at Target (or Tar-zhay, as we call it!). I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for returns from now on.
catgirl - So scary about your friend. I hope that all the precautionary measures do the trick to get her baby to stay put!
rancid - I love that honu bedding and those prints are divine. Along with your DH's artwork, I'll bet that nursery will be stunning. Be sure to post pics as it starts to come together!
Returning to work: I'm currently self-employed as a private music teacher working at home about seven or eight hours a week, so I feel a lot like a SAHW already. I'm hoping to get more clients so that I'm working closer to 15 hours/week because we can't survive on DH's income alone. In terms of time off, I've saved enough $$ to take off work from November 5th until New Year's. After that, I'll shoot for working around 15 hours and will have some students on work-study who will come in and stay with the baby for the few hours each day that I'll be teaching downstairs. In terms of performing, I'll have to find a babysitter who can keep her when I go for auditions and then figure out what to do when I get cast in shows. I'll just have to cross that bridge when I come to it.
Sleeping: It's not too bad yet. I usually wake up once or twice to pee and I do my most solid sleeping in the AM, after DH gets out of bed at 6:30am. It hurts to get out of bed, though, the more my pelvis stretches. :rolleyes:
Cravings: Aside from the constant fruit craving, not much to report. Although after reading all the posts today, I'd sort of like a grilled cheese sandwich. Thanks a lot! :p

ellidew and mayham, great news! :)
catgirl, fingers crossed for your friend!
euphorhea, 4 hours of test, yes... They made a first blood exam at 8.20 am, then gave me 100gr of sugar with water to drink, then I had to stand three others blood exams at 9.20, 10.20 and 11.20!!

This is going to be all out of order. Oh well!
Thanks! The reunion was a lot of fun. DH and I picked up my 2 best girlfriends on the way so we all showed up together. It just so happened that we all chose to wore black that night, so folks were calling us the ladies in black. There were several pg women there, so the photographer got a pic of us 4 together. We'll definitely be decorating the nursery similar to how it looks in the picture, we're loving that color scheme a lot. BTW, my FIL and his whole side of the family are from Hawaii. My dad was also born there, but his father was stationed in Honolulu at the time my father was born~he's the 'whitest' Hawaiian-born fellow you'll ever see. :) I really really hope I pass the GTT too; my SIL had GD when she was pg with my nephew not too long ago, and boy that's NOT something I want to go through.
ellidew~ Congratulations on a healthy baby boy!! I just came back from lunch and your post was the first I saw and it put the hugest grin on my face. I'm so happy to hear that all is well, what a relief!!! :D
When you go in for an ultrasound do you take an entourage? Nope, so far it's just been me and the hubby...no need for an entourage.
Rancid- Good luck on the results from the GTT! Did they tell you how long it will take to get the results back? I LOVE that tank. I wish it came in a t-shirt though. I haven’t been to the ON site in a while so I’m going to go peak around.
They said it usually takes a few days; I'm hoping they're very quick about it b/c my next ob appt is tomorrow but what are the chances that they'll process and test it and have results back within 48 hours since my blood was drawn? Hmmm....I was telling my mom about the test and she said no one on her side of the family ever had GD, nor regular diabetes come to think of it. So hopefully genetics will be in my favor here...:)
rancid
LOL!
I love that ON tank, too. I wish they had it in a regular t-shirt though. Summer is going to start winding down here in the midwest soon so I'm having a hard time justifying buying it - though I REALLY want it!
Luckily the weather in SoCal is pretty mild year-round and I've been known to wear ON's perfect fit tanks in December and January. I like ON's prices on those tanks, on other sites for a tank or t-shirt with cute sayings like that tend to run $25+, which I think is outrageous for a print-screened t.
Mayham~ Congratulations on passing the GTT!!
rancid - I love that honu bedding and those prints are divine. Along with your DH's artwork, I'll bet that nursery will be stunning. Be sure to post pics as it starts to come together!
First I have to get DH to clear out the room of all his 'stuff'. Seriously, he has so much crap in there: 2 big desks, one of which houses the computer, the other has a 40" plasma sitting on it; an electric drum set; 3-4 IKEA display cases with his collectibles; several large sheving units with additional collectibles; a small table, yes, with more collectibles; and a closet full of clothes as well as boxes for said collectibles that he cannot bring himself to throw away. A LOT of stuff. I have to be careful when I walk into the room, otherwise there's a good chance I'm gonna trip over something. :rolleyes:
Ellidew Congratulations, I'm so glad to hear everything is okay with baby Miles
Mayham- Congratulations on passing the 1 hour
Catgirl I'm sorry to hear you're firend is going through such a hard time, she'll be in my prayers.
Scarlett- My 3 hour was the same schedule as yours. I went in at 8:30 and they drew my blood to get a fasting number. Then I had to drink the orange drink and they drew my blood again at 9:30, 10:30 & 11:30.
I'm glad to hear you passed
Rancid- cute tank top
Yesterday was my birthday and I had a small glass of red wine at dinner. It was good but I felt guilty and it gave me heartburn. :rolleyes:

Lilla- The relief is enormous! Thank you.
Catgirl and bijouparvin- Yup, he’s a Miles not a Millie for sure now! Lol. Poor kid was gender confused for so long. Lol. I thought 5 loud whiny kids was a bit much too. The doctor said she wondered why the extra adult didn’t stay home and watch the kids there! Lol.
Mayham- Congratulations on passing!! YAY! Thanks for the well wishes.
Scarlet- Thank you!
Thank you rancid! I was grinning ear to ear for quite awhile this afternoon. I keep peaking at the pictures from the ultrasound. I just can't help myself! Here's hoping genetics are in your favor. Fingers are crossed for ya. Maybe you'll be surprised and find out tomorrow!
nic- Thanks. It's a big relief.
I just wanted to thank everyone again for their support. Seriously, i might've lost my mind without all of you to lean on. Here's hoping for healthy pg's for all of us!

catgirl- I totally missed your post about your friend having PTL! :( That's so scary. Hopefully they can get the whole round of steroids in her and hold her off for a few more weeks. I have a friend who had her twins at 25 weeks and it was touch and go for weeks/months as to whether they would survive. They both did and are actually doing really well (they turn one in October). But I remember the dr. telling my friend that every day they stayed in utero the chance for survival goes up greatly. I'm sending up prayers for your friend.
mayham- Congrats on passing the 1hr!!!
ellidew- That's great news about Miles!!!!!
For our "big u/s" DH and DS were with me. I can see a slightly older child being interested (expecially a girl) in seeing her little brother/sister... but 5 children??? crazy.
Happy belated birthday NIC! Mmmmmmm... wine..... I think I'll have to have a glass on my vacation.

maternity massage- I know someone just said they had one.. but can't remember who. I've scheduled one at a resort near our vacation rental & the lady said they have you lay on your side during the massage. If anyone has had one, is this awkward? I am having trouble picturing this.

katnbug- Thanks! I'm certainly relieved! I had a massage for my birthday at the end of July at a resort and i layed on my side. She had me lay on my side and she put a pillow in front for my upper body (boobs and belly) and then another one between my legs and asked if i needed any others but i didn't and i was perfectly comfortable. Half way through i rolled over and did the same on the other side. Honestly, i was perfectly comfortable. Though i wouldn't mind having a full back massage with my belly through a hole. I think having the pressure off the belly for a little while might be nice. My massage was wonderful though and i'm sure yours will be too! Have a great trip!!!

massage~ At the spa I (used to) regularly go to have facials/massages, they said that their pregnancy massage uses a table with a depression/hole in the middle for the belly to sort of 'hang through' so one
