Does anyone know what happens during a pregnancy consultation? I called my obgyn and asked how long I need to wait to see her if I thought I was having complications TTC. I have only been off the pill and trying for 4 months. I have had mid-cyle spotting for the last 3 years and been on numerious birth control. My dr. found out that I have some fibroids on my ovaries, but they "shouldn't" cause problem TTC. They never figured out why I was spotting, but chucked it up to being on the pill. Well, I am off now and still spotting.

I know it hasn't been that long since TTC, but thought I would at least ask how long to wait before coming in. (I heard most dr. won't see you till a full year) The nurse told me to come in any time and thought it was rediculous that I heard to wait a year. She said I needed to set up a pregnancy consultation. I was just curious what they will go over with me and hope that I do not waste my time. I am already charting and checking my cervical fluids. I am also reading the book TCOYF. I LOVE that book! I guess I should have asked how long do they make you wait to test for ovulation. Sorry so long winded, felt the need to give you back ground info. ;)

It's not that Drs want you to wait a year, it's that insurance companies won't pay for infertility testing until a year (if you're under 35) if you don't have any problems. If you DO have some issues, you can go in to see your Dr to get checked out and of course you don't have to wait a year for that.

I know you posted a while ago asking if you should be patient or not, but this time you're also mentioning midcycle spotting. Although it might just be normal, ovulatory spotting, it can signal a potential issue. For example, some people have spotting and it is a symptom of low progesterone or imbalanced hormones. I know I had unusual spotting & found out I had uterine polyps, but sometimes uterine fibroids can cause spotting as well. I don't know that ovarian fibroids can cause spotting, I don't know much about them & I thought those were pretty rare. It sounds like there's enough going on that you could go see your ob/gyn to talk about it. It may settle some of your anxiety, at the very least.
