Has anyone here done the L.A. Weight Loss program?

My mom did L A Weight Loss and she loved it. she was very successful. she started off losing about 2lbs/week. once she and I started going to the gym 3 times a week where she would do some weights and do walking on the elliptical for 15-20 minutes she started averaging about 3lbs/wk.
she ended up losing about 55lbs and evened out at about 50lbs lost after several months on the maintenance phase.
I don't know how much you know about their plan, but basically, she measured and ate food that she prepared (or from restaurants) based on the specifications she had from LAweight loss for each phase. she kept a food diary and went in for a weigh in 3 times per week and took her food diary. she and one of the councilers there would discuss anything she'd had troubles with or any specific temptations she was having.
Her meals usually consisted of fruit and a starch for breakfast with a small glass of milk and some coffee; an LA Lite bar (which are pretty tasty) for a mid-morning snack; a protein, veggies and a fruit for lunch; LA Lite bar as an afternoon snack, protein, starch, and veggies for dinner; fruit as a late-evening snack.
I'd say the basic premise is eating healthy foods in healthy portions frequently enough that you don't ever get really hungry. you don't have to deprive yourself of stuff either, just eat small portions of it so you're less likely to splurge.
It takes will-power, but if my mom can do it, I'd say just about anyone can!

Thanks for responding. It sounds like a good plan, but I doubt I could make it to the nearest location to meet with a counselor 3x per week. That would be a pretty big drawback.
