My parents are going to Italy in September for their wedding anniversary. My dad's birthday is in August, and I'd like to get him something for the trip. Any ideas? He speaks a little Italian already (did growing up but has lost some so he's bought some tapes already to brush up.)

How about a really nice photo album for them to put all their photos in when they return?

This is one I found that is really cool

Do they have a nice digital camera? A memory card large enough to hold tons of pics?

Great ideas! Thanks! I love the toiletry bag idea. Also the street map-- they're doing a guided tour so I don't want to get them too many guidebooks, but I think the street maps would be helpful when they're exploring on their own.

Keep 'em coming!

A few years ago, my parents went to Hawaii for a few weeks for their 40th anniversary. I really wanted to do something for them, but couldn't think of what to give them. So I did the following things:
* had champagne and flowers in their room upon arrival
* arranged for them to go on a sunset dinner cruise one night
* arranged a nice, romantic, private dinner for them one night

They were definitely surprised and enjoyed everything.

I LOVE that idea...you could arrange with the hotel maybe, to have a car pick them up at the airport? Or work with the concierge to have something set up in their room for their arrival.
Plenty of ideas...maybe a private cooking class, or wine tasting..
How fun! Good for you :D
