Hi Ladies!

Our DS is 8mos. old and I rock him to sleep for naps and nighttime. He occasionally falls asleep on his own if I put him in the crib really drowsy, but both he and I like the time and closeness of rocking. DH rocks him, too. It just occured to us that at some point DS going to need to go to bed like an older child, without rocking to sleep.

At what age did you stop rocking your DC to sleep? Did you say anything to DC or just start a new routine? Did it come after bottle feeding ended?

Thanks!!

We stopped rocking about 9-10 months and started putting DS down awake. At 13 months he is great about self-soothing. I will still rock him if he isn't feeling well.

We stopped rocking DS at around 1 1/2 months for bedtime (he's now 3 months). We never had to let him CIO. He's done great thanks to the FP oceans aquarium. We're currently working on naptime. He normally takes a couple cat naps and he'll go to sleep wherever he is. For his long nap (2-3 hours), we put him down awake and rub his belly to soothe him.

DS is nearly 11 mo and we still rock and nurse to sleep. I've thought about this too, but honestly I like doing it. I'm sure we will stop sometime but I guess I'm just not in a rush.
Like your DS he can fall alseep on his own if he is really tired.

I love rocking my son, so we do both - rock him and put him down awake. I never rock him to sleep anymore - stopped that right at 6 months. Now (he's 7 months), we just rock him until his eyes appear a little heavy, or he starts yawning or something. At that point, we put him in his crib, and he puts himself to sleep.

Thanks everyone! Sometimes DS prefers to fall asleep in his crib, since he gets fidgety and can't seem to get comfortable on me. Most other times he loves to be rocked. However, he's getting very heavy! He's about 25 lbs. already.

It's always great to hear other mom's experiences, so keep them coming. :)
