Hi girls! My DH's brother and his wife are moving to Arizona in two weeks. We all live in Kentucky now. It is a huge shock and we just found out. They are having a going away party next Saturday. I feel like we should get them some type of gift but I'm not sure what. Any help would be appreciated!

How about some nice stationary so they can keep in touch by sending letters and photos home?

Gift card to chain resturants they have there or for pizza there. Honestly, when we first moved, we ate out a lot and it got really expensive. I would have loved a Papa Johns card or a Chilis card. You might check the yahoo yellow pages to see what will be near their new place.

If they are driving out, I would also suggest some gas gift cards. You could do a "moving basket" with things like gas cards, snacks, travel games, etc.
I also like the chain restaurant gift cards; something nicer than McDonald's but still relatively inexpensive.

What about maps for the area they are moving to? Where is Arizona are they moving? What about a list of "hot spots" -- whatever would be hot spots for them? I also really like the gift card ideas....

When we moved cross-country, restaurant GCs were very nice gifts we received from some people. We also received a lot of wine/champagne since our move was a "celebratory" one since my husband's company was acquired as the cause of the move. I would go for something consumable or useful rather than "stuff" since they already have to pack and move all of their stuff and that is a pain as it is. But that's just me, and I hate clutter. If they are driving to AZ, I would probably put together a basket/bag/box of "in the car" stuff, like maps, snacks, bottled water, car entertainment stuff (trivia cards, whatever they might like), CDs, etc.
Also, if you wanted to do something larger, I know some airlines have GCs now - a possible gift idea to 'help' them come visit once they're moved, like for the holidays.

I think gift cards are a great way to go as well...either for restraunts (make sure they have one in their new city)....or for gas.
