It was a lot more wet than I expected and I had to do a lot of rubbing in...which of course led to an uneven look. The woman said lemon juice and salt (basically exfoliating) would help blend darker spots. I exfoliated in advance btw,but it clearly didn't help. I am in a wedding on Saturday. Please tell me it will fade by then!! I was supposed to go back for a 2nd treatment later in the week but won't know. Any advice fashionistas?? :)

It depends on how bad it looks and what kind of splotchies you have. To even it out, try a product like Dove Energy Glow for darker skin. It has slight self tanners and will blend some areas for you.

I've also heard you can lighten the dark spots by using a q-tip and nail polish remover.

DH went golfing and had a tan line on the back of his neck from his shirt. I used some of the Dove Energy Glow on him and although it didn't make it disappear, it at least didn't look like a candy cane.

I use self-tanners all the time and when I ocassionally have streaks or blotches, I have found that "Nair" (or any dipilotory sp?) works to even it out a little bit. I just put a little bit on the streaky area and let it sit just for about 30 seconds or so and then rub it off. It is not a magic cure, but it does help a lot. Exfoliating also helps, as well as shaving (if the streaks are on your legs). And like vwinkel said, you can also try some Dove Energy Glow or a similar product to try to even it out.

Also, I have done the spray tans at Hollywood Tans and Tantopia and I really love them. If that is the type of spray tan you did, one thing that might have cause the uneven look is that you said you rubbed it in afterwards. Like I said, I am not sure what kind you got... but for the ones I did, you would just want to kind of "blot off" any wet areas with a towel... instead of trying to rub them in. I know it's too late now, but maybe it can help someone else.

If you have dark streaks/splotches, you can use a cottonball with some hydrogen peroxide to lighten them. Just be careful, because it works really well -- It can work a little too well if you use too much and then you'll have light spots instead. :)
