I know this one has been receiving a lot of press lately, because of the whole freaky Katie Holmes thing, and I have been hearing about it for years and years... I have a lot of gay friends, and it seems they all know someone who knows someone who has slept with Tom, or given him *ahem* favors, etc... And I guess I do wonder if this is just gay urban legend or if there is some truth to it.

So. Wondering what anyone else thought.

I voted for "other". I think it is equally possible that most of his problems are related to being so wrapped up in a cult as they as related to being uncomfortable with his sexuality. It seems unlikely that so many rumors are untrue, but anything is possible. :)

You know, I was inclined to think yes, but then I spoke with my insider source (a friend's husband who is in the industry), and he said that he's never gotten that vibe from him (to the extent gay-dar is still a viable concept). My friend's husband has told me about other closeted stars (including another famous scientologist :D , so it's not like he doesn't believe gay actors pass for heterosexual. So now, I'm on the fence.

I don't know what Scientology's "official" stance is on homosexuality, but I do know that both Tom Cruise and John Travolta have LONG been rumored to be gay and it's also LONG been rumored that the folks at Scientology are covering it up for them.

I voted for "bi"-- while he has clearly had both male and female relationships, mostly I think Tom is so confused and brainwashed at this point that he's veering toward asexual.

My gut used to say that he was straight and that people just wanted to stir the pot. But honestly given his long relationship wtih Scientology and his recent outbursts about how it has helped him overcome dyslexia and can help people overcome things like PPD without using drugs it make sme wonder if he actually IS gay and ashamed of it and holds onto Scientology to "strighten him out" :o

Garden mommy - You know - that's a really interesting thing to think about. Perhaps he realized early on that he was gay, and he turned to Scientology to 'get him straight.' Just as he claims Scientology can help drug addicts, etc.

I never had an opinion on Tom's sexuality, well anything pertaining to him actually until recently. If he is indeed gay he should just come out, instead of having these pseudo relationships. I would actually have more respect for him if he would drop whatever act he has going and be honest with who he really is.

Plus I am curious to know whether or not the rumor of Rob Thomas's wife catching the two of them in bed together is true. :o

I thought that the remark that Nicole Kidman made about her 'looking for a man who wanted her to have a child and who would glory in her being...and in seeing her...pregnant' was very telling. Seems like Mimi Rogers was of the same opinion. Granted, she was older than he was, but when she remarried she had a couple of children really quickly. She did use the rather flimsy excuse of not agreeing with either his political or religious views when they divorced.

These women went along with what they thought that he thought he wanted (don't we all?) until their biological clocks started clicking really loudly. Figures and fashions usually take a backseat or go out the window when we want to contribute something more to this life, and the urge to cuddle a baby consumes us.

Personally, I don't give a rat's patootie whether he is or is not of another sexual persuasion (other than the norm...or what is considered the 'norm.') Too bad he seems to be offended by his own choice(s) rather than celebrating it/them.
