My DS still takes 3 naps a day and then sleeps from 7pm to 6 or 7am each night.(not waking) About two weeks ago we went on vacation for 2 weeks and he wasn't in his crib and was sleeping in a pack n play most of the time. So now we are home and it's been a full week and he still takes his 3 naps, BUT his night sleep is really messed up. He seems wide awake at like 3:30am and it's so hard to get him back to sleep. He's waking up crying several times a night and I have to go soothe him back to sleep. I dont' know if it's teething(I see no bumps) or what. I was thinking maybe he is trying to cut out one of his naps and then he'll be more tired at night to sleep all the way through? HELP!
How much should an 8 month old sleep?

My DD took 3 naps until around 8-9 months, then went to 2 naps until about a month ago, and now takes one nap. When she took 2 naps she woke around 6-6:30 and napped at 9 and 1 and then was down for the night around 6-7 p.m (STTN starting at 9 months).

It does sound like your DS may be trying to cut out that third nap. Just remember that you may need to put him down for bedtime a little earlier temporarily, e.g. if he normally goes to bed at 7, you could shift his bedtime to about 6:30 for a week or two.

Newyorkgirl is right. My DS takes two or three naps a day, depending upon the timing. If he doesn't get a third nap and gets really cranky, I sometimes push bedtime up to 6pm and he is more than ready for bed by then.
Jealous of your regular schedule!!! DS still wakes up 1-2x a night.

My DD dropped the 3rd nap right at 8 months. I moved her am nap a bit later and then tried to push the pm one a bit later also. The transition took about 1 week. Now she sleeps 7-6 and naps at 9am and 1:30pm.
I think that I started a thread called When did your DC drop the 3rd nap awhile ago and got some good responses.

Thanks for all the advice, I think what I'll do is naps at 9am and 2pm? And if he seems a little more tired and he doesn't make it to 7pm for bed, then I'll move it to 6 or 630pm for awhile. Gahhh, I hope this works.
Alison I'm going to look for your thread right now.:)
