Charting Our Course to the BFPs

http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.

So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!

Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.

Your threadmistresses for this thread are cowgirl and Chris n Jen.

To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread every month. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistresses would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if we get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.

If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!

Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

How to link a chart from Fertility Friend:
Go to My Chart. In the Menu bar on the right hand side go down to sharing- then home page setup, the link will appear in a text box under the heading "Your Charting Home Page Web Address." Highlight the link and copy it to your signature or a post.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb

* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.

* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.

* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.

* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.

* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.

* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.

* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.

* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.

* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.

* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.

* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!

* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!

* Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations

This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!

•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
MBFP Mystery big fat positive- When you see a BFP in someone’s chart but they haven’t announced it yet
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

I figure a new thread is a good time to do get my update in. :) Sorry I've been MIA for so long.

But first of all, CONGRATS to Sherb and MrsK! :D

Threadmistress, could you please update my stats? Thank you!

Known issues/test results: DH - 6/06 Zero Sperm Count, Low Testosterone (started Clomid to increase level). Me - Annovulatory Cycles, Irregular O when I do.

Congrats, Sherb!!! H&H 9 months to you!!!

(Just in case you come here 1st instead of SWH) Congrats to you too, Mrs. K! (it's prettier in SWH!)

So sorry about your insurance mess, Charliez! That would be so frustrating! So, are you going to do anything to avoid getting pg these 3 months, or just stop actively trying? Either way, I wish you the best of luck and that the time off will be relaxing for you. I know what you mean about finding out others are pg. I am always happy for them but it does really hurt. It's weird to have those two opposite emotions all rolled up into one.

Sorry about the BFN ptcrn...you know the saying, though, about it ain't over...and Mrs. J just said she didn't have any symptoms!

Me- CD 15, lots of watery CM (thanks, green tea!), as of yesterday still a neg OPK. I feel like I'm getting close, though!

Forgot to say thank you for the new thread, threadmistress!

Shanna- I've been wondering about you. When does DH go for another SA? I really hope the Clomid helps! What about you? Did he put you on Clomid too? Did he talk about any possibly next step?

Pocahontas- man, sorry about the travel stress! We had a problem flying home from St. Croix, but it wasn't as bad as that! Maybe not being able to temp in the 2WW is good for you- a forced break, so you can't obsess over every little thing. At any rate, good luck!

I hope we get some more very soon....we are still taking a break...especially since AF just arrived after 17 day cycle...never had that happen before....

Quick drive by....

I was out chart stalking today because I have nothing better to do here at work  .

Anyways, I noted that the o date that FF called on Armadillo's chart looks wrong. To me, it looks more like you o'd on CD 17. The temp shift just seems more in line with past cycles, and CD 8 looks too soon for you to o. I just didn't want you testing too soon and all the frustration that it brings ;) .

Back to lurking.....

Thanks Jess. :) DH is getting bloodwork tomorrow to see if the Clomid worked. If it did, he'll keep taking it for another month or two and then we can repeat the SA to see if it worked. The dr hasn't put me on Clomid yet because she didn't want me on meds unnecessarily and if DH has a zero count it didn't make sense to put me on it. So we'll wait until DH's repeat SA and if we get good results I'll go on the Clomid. :)

Congrats Sherb and MrsK!

I've been chart stalking a little and there are some good looking charts out there! I think July is going to be a banner month for this thread!

Armadillo, I agree that it looks like you O'ed on CD17.

Thanks, jjsanner and MichelleRenee, for checking out my chart. I was just thinking the same thing! I was very surprised when FF gave me crosshairs on CD8. Doesn't matter though, CD8 vs. CD17...we still didn't do so well with the BD timing this month!

Jess honestly, we're just not actively trying. We'll probably use condoms during my fertile time. I know that O CD18-CD21, so i just call it fertile CD12-22. However, after my super long cycle last month (well, super long for me) I'm not sure. We'll see what happens. I should be getting my Cobra papers any day now. I wasn't going to use it since we scheduled all of our dr appts before the insurnce was up and got all of our RXs refilled. But if something "happens", i may have to.

Congrats MrsK and Shreb. Obviously it's been a hot summer for you ladies so far!!! H&H 9 months to you both.

Sorry I haven't been around - lots has been going on in my life right now. My SIL just found out she is pregnant - they weren't even trying. Actually (not that it really matters) he had just bought her an engagement ring and then she found out she is pregnant so now they are expecting and just got engaged. Its just hard. First thing she said is that she feels bad cause she knows we've been trying. I don't want her to feel bad - but to enjoy the time. She isn't really enjoying it (morning sickness like I had) but what I'd do to be puking my guts out every morning! So I guess I've just been a little down lately and not up to posting, though I have been reading - a big congrats to the BFP's, sorry for those AF showed up for, and to those with other personal issues and hurdles, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I promise I'll be more active in this thread!

Threadmistress, please move me to "I think I O'd - testing 7/10-7/16ish.

Just a quick fly-by to say congrats to MrsK and Sherb! I just knew we had one more BFP in that cycle... but two is fantastic! :D

Today is CD18, and last cycle I O'd on CD21. Hoping for something more than creamy CM to show up soon. I think if I don't see much this month, I'll be starting some green tea next time around. For me, it's all about the baby steps... no pun intended ;)

charliez Sorry you have to take a break, hopefully in a couple months you will come back and get a BFP right away!!
jnshanna I hope the clomid did the trick!!

Went to my Dr appt, pregnancy test came back negative, I knew it would, got a perscription for provera but I think I am going to wait to fill it for another day or two, when I put in a temp for tomorrow, anything 97.6 or higher shows I Oed so I will wait and see, if no O then I will fill the perscription. Dr thinks that I have a thyroid problem based off of my long cycles in the past and the fact that I am always tired and have gained a lot of weight in the last 5 years when I am really trying to lose weight. So he took some blood for that and I should find out the results in the next day or two I think. I forgot that I am due for my yearly pap next month, need to make sure I get in to my OB/GYN for that.

Sneak:

My SIL just found out she is pregnant - they weren't even trying. Actually (not that it really matters) he had just bought her an engagement ring and then she found out she is pregnant so now they are expecting and just got engaged.

That EXACT thing happened to me! FSIL found out she was pregnant literally a week after we started trying and right after BIL had bought her a ring. I was crushed at first, but happy for them too. It was really hard to not be PG while she was. Then when I got the invitation to her shower in the mail I just broke down because I STILL wasn't PG. But I WAS PG by the time the actual shower rolled around.:D

Thanks Chelsea and Michelle. Actually the kinda funny thing about all this is that 2 years ago 1 month before I found out I was pregnant with DD, my other SIL announced she was expecting. We were trying (but only for 2 months) at the time and then surprise...the next month i was pregnant. Maybe that will happen this time???!?! i can only hope. Also cause we just bought the ovusoft software - so surely just because of my luck I'll get pregnant now and will have paid for the software for only 1 month! my chart doesn't seem all that optimistic at this point though.

Hi, hope everyone had a great 4th!
Congrats Sherb and MrsKinnison! H&H 9 months to both of you.
charliezangel hope after your break you come back to get a BFP right away. Congrats to your step sis.
ptcrn bummer for the BFN.
pocahontas that sucks about the problems on your trip. Hopefully you caught the eggie though!
jnshanna good luck with your DH's b/w. Hope the meds helped!
sneak sorry to hear you are so bummed about your SIL's pg. Hopefully you'll get yours soon!
chelsea good luck with the thyroid testing, hopefully if they get something figured out then your cycles will regulate.

Nothing new here... still just slight spotting.... wish AF would hurry up so I can get started on next cycle!

Chelsea- I meant to comment on your situation earlier, but I was going to suggest you do exactly what you are planning on doing. Why medicate when, if this is O, you will start on your own anyway. Let us know about the thyroid testing. I may be going for that soon, although I don't have long cycles.

Sneak- I'm sorry that FSIL's news has hit you so hard. I was just saying to DH how unfair it is that these people who aren't ready to be parents get pg all the time, and all of us have been trying and trying and can't get pg to save our lives!

Shanna- I really hope DH's bloodwork comes out well and you guys can move on! I will be thinking about you!

Me- CD 15 and +OPK today...so, guess what we'll be doing!!

congrats Sherb and MrsK -- H&H 9 months.

Well ladies, sorry I have been MIA but we were away for the 4th and then I had a pretty depressing visit at the RE yesterday. Turns out the follies on my right side (which were the bigger ones) have stopped growing:mad:. The follies on my left side have grown to 1.5, 1.3, 1.1 and 1.0 but they are not large enough to do anything with yet:mad:.

So the plan is to go back for yet another u/s tomorrow . If by some miracle the follies on my left are large enough, I will trigger tomorrow night and have one IUI on Saturday before DH and I leave for Ireland and then BD the day we arrive in Ireland. Not ideal, as usually my RE does two days of IUI if you trigger, but hey, one day is better than nothing. The other option is that I take the shot with me to Ireland and trigger while I am there. Note to self, if I do bring the shot with me, take note from RE.

The nurse practitioner (RE is on vacation this week) told me she thinks the RE will tell us we should move to injectibles next cycle as I don't appear to be responding to the clomid . . .

Anyway, I broke down crying again after this meeting and now DH wants to come with me tomorrow for moral support. Not sure there is much he can do, but FINGERS CROSSED ladies that I don't surge tonight and my follies have grown since yesterday!!!!

ABirney Sorry about the spotting

Sneak I hope you do get your BFP soon, at least your chart has an O, thats a step in the right direction;)

Subbing...

Also congrats to Mrsk & Sherb. H&H 9 months to you.

Since I am taking a break from charting I am not sure if I O'd or not yet. I have to be getting close because I have had pains in my right side and some creamy & watery CM. Plus as like every other month, I get horribly consitpated and sever pains. I go see my OBGYN next Tuesday, so I will be talking to her then.

Good luck to all those trying to catch the eggie. Sorry if AF showed her ugly head!

AF showed for me this morning. I'm feeling pretty down about it right now, but I know I'll snap out of it in a couple of days. I'm trying to remind myself that this is the first month we have had good fertile-quality CM, and it may take a few more months of that to get a BFP. I'm trying to be positive!

Anyway, threadmistress, please move me to waiting to O. Thank you. On to cycle #12. :(

Good luck to anyone testing soon or Oing. Sorry to anyone who had AF show. Sorry for the generalization- I'm just not up to personal replies.

I promise better SO's tomorrow, but for now, here's my update:

We had our sixth and final IUI this morning. It went well. DH's numbers were great - 50 million and 51% motility (last week's sample was only about 27 million and 44% motility). So we're cautiously hopeful for this month.

But just in case, we're all signed up for IVF. We've done all the preliminary testing except for the blood work. I'll do CD3 b/w (if necessary, of course) when AF arrives and we have an appointment on July 26 for the full blood panel and to meet with the doc. We have our long IVF class scheduled for 8/15 (at which point I'll already have started the Lupron) and will tentatively start stims on 8/21. ER around the end of August and ET 3-5 days after that. I left a message for someone in the finance dept. to go over that aspect of it and we're going to call our GYN friend who said he would speak with the RE to see if they can "do something" to help us out.

DH still doesn't want to think or talk too much about it. He doesn't want to feel like we're giving up on this cycle. I keep telling him I'm not - I had four good eggs and he had a great sample today, so of course there's still hope. But after five failed IUIs, I'm not counting on anything and I want to be totally prepared to move on right away. So I'm just getting everything in order and now will just wait out this 2WW!

ETA: I just found out there's a new IVF class being opened up on 7/27, so we're in for that one instead of having to wait till 8/15.

gymwidow - Best wishes on this cycle, glad that you got some good news this morning. I think it's a good idea to be proactive about your next cycle, all the while hoping for this one to work!

pctrn -I'm sorry that you're feeling down, but glad that you can find something to be positive about. I imagine it is frustrating to be at cycle #12. Take care of yourself over the next couple of days, lots of chocolate and all that. :)

MrsR - I'm crossing my fingers that your appt went well this morning. But either way I hope that you have a wonderful trip to Ireland. Bring us back some photos!

Sneak - Hope you're feeling better about the in-law situation. I haven't been there (with relatives), but I do feel a little down/jealous when I hear about other women getting pregnant (esp ones like Brittney Spears, she has 2 before I even get 1). Best wishes for your 2ww.

Update: I think AF finally left, it was weird this cycle (I think I always say that). TMI - Most of my AF was black or brown this time and pretty light overall. I guess it was b/c of the test last week?

My dr called on monday to say that my test results were normal. That's good news b/c it means my lining is enough to support implantation. She said she'll call back after she decides what to do next. I'm guessing she'll look at my eggs next to see if they're ok.

Sneak

Some SO's - hope I don't forget anyone - if I do, SORRY!
Abirney - it sucks being in that 'waiting time' before AF - knowing she'll show her ugly face but not happening so you can move on to the next cycle. Hope she shows soon...or not if it means a BFP.
MrsR - fingers are crossed for you!
Chelsea - sucks about no O. maybe provera will help
PTCRN - sorry about AF - its so hard when she comes and we have our hopes up for a BFP instead.
gymwidow - i hope this cycle works for you! fingers are crossed!
honeygirl - glad test results were good - good luck at your next appointment

As for me, thanks for all the support. I'm feeling much better today...I guess there will be ups and downs. Even though I think I'm only 5DPO i'm feeling a ton of symptoms (likely all in my head). When I was pg with DD I was sick right away - meaning before I got the BFP at 12DPO. Temps are still climbing slowly but surely, but nothing extrodinary - but I am only 5DPO - lots of time! Its just been a strange day - been very nauseated all day but STARVING! That never happens....I just have eaten all day long! Bring on the watermelon!

UGH! FPS in full effect! Why me? This is going to be the longest 2 ww ever in history I swear! (although I guess since I'm 7 DPO it's half over already.) So in addition to being Mrs. "Gas City" this morning I was standing at MIL's front door buzzing for her to let me in 'cuz we were about to go on our usual mile and a half morning walk and simply standing there the world (and everything else) started spinning. I was so dizzy that when she buzzed me in I stumbled through the door 'cuz the hallway was spinning. Then at the end of the walk I caught a whiff of something that smelled YUMMY and I said to MIL, "Mmmmm...somebody's cooking something that smells really good!" She didn't smell a thing (and thought I was crazy I'm sure.) *sigh* I hope this doesn't all end in AF's ugly azz showing up. DH keeps rubbing my stomach swearing this cycle is it. (We tried hard this cycle 'cuz my LAP is schedule for 2 and a half weeks from now and we figured if this is it I won't have to go "under the knife". Plus DH has been throwing a lot of other things out there that he thinks are "context clues" relating to things that have been happening in the business that we run.) Just tryna be ---> So I guess we shall see...

Pocahontas - I'm with you on the "longest 2WW ever" cause of FPS. If only there wasn't a 2WW to find out something - it'd be so nice if a little bell or something would go off right away after BD saying "ding ding ding...you're pregnant"! That would at least save our sanity!

Pocahontas, FPS are such a double-edged sword. Without them, we get depressed that we don't feel anything and therefore are not pg. With them, we get so hopeful that we are, which can be just as bad. Good luck in the rest of your 2WW!

Sneak, have you seen that commercial for one of the pg tests where they say something like "Wouldn't you like to know right away if you're pregnant? Science is getting close....." I hate that commercial b/c it just reminds me how awful the 2WW is!

Sneak- I always say that I wish your pee would turn purple right after BDing to let you know, but I like polkadot's window idea better. More info!

Mrs. R- so sorry it didn't turn out like you wanted! I hope you can do it on your own this trip and not need another appt with the RE!

pocahontas- Sorry FPS are so confusing, but what you are having sounds promising! Maybe your DH is right! I hope so! It's hard to go thru the cycle of waiting to O, then Oing, then trying not to get your hopes up in case AF shows. I almost want to say to just enjoy getting excited if you have signs during the 2WW...why not? You willl be disappointed if AF shows whether you enjoyed that time or worried constantly during it so why not enjoy it? Now, I need to take my own advice!

I got a packet from my dr today in the mail. She wants me to have bloodwork done next (prolactin level, TSH, LH and FSH). She'd like me to consider switching from progesterone to clomid (50mg a day) and also to see a RE. I don't want to see a RE yet, I think my dr is pretty capable, but we'll see.

She said to have the blood work done pre-O (that's now), but does anyone know if he needs to be right before O?

This cycle may be a bust b/c DH has a business trip in another week. We'll either time it just right (before he leaves), or we'll miss our chance. Time will tell. If I O by CD17 or 18 I'll be fine.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Hey MRSR (or anyone else familiar with this) what are "injectibles"? (Okay, I know they are injections...but injections of WHAT exactly is I guess what I'm asking.) honeygirl, ugh, I've heard those are no fun. I'm glad it went well, though! I think the "pre-O" b/w is usually CD3 b/w, so you may have to wait till your next cycle. I could be totally wrong, though, so call and see if you can do it now.

Jess71903, I hope this is it for you!!!

Sneak, I think your chart is looking good!

Pocahontas, injectables are injectable infertility meds. Stronger than Clomid and given by injection instead of in pill form. The idea with Clomid is to make sure that 1-2 strong eggs are produced each month; with injectables the idea is to make 3-4 and therefore increase your chances of success. The most popular injectable seems to be Follistim, and after that is Gonal-F (that's the one I'm on).

3DPO here and already the FPS are getting me. I've had weird cramps for a day and today my (sorry if TMI) nipples are so incredibly sore that I had to tell DH to stay away from them! Sigh, it's going to be a long wait!

I'm so frustrated with my charts lately. They're a complete mess. I wish I could have pretty charts like you guys!!! I'd like to think FF called my O date too early this month, but the CM and CP do point to CD8. DH made me test on Friday (he herded me into the bathroom with an HPT because I didn't want to do it) and of course it was a BFN. Last month I thought the acupuncture was helping, but then I ended up with AF so light that it was almost non-existant. This month the acupuncture doesn't seem to do anything. Grr. Definitely looking forward to my dr. appointment in August.

I'm hoping that I O'ed on our vacation, because we some decent amounts of BD'ing in.

I haven't really been hitting the thermometer hard, and the only thing that bothers me about that is that I can't pinpoint my O...I like to know when it happens, but I also like relaxing and going with the flow with our BD schedule. Dh seems much happier this way, too.

I am 12DPO and having not temped throughout my vacation I have no clue what is going on. If my last chart holds true for this one I should be getting AF tomorrow. However I have had no symptoms to think I should be getting her. I'll temp in the morning to see where I'm at though. If a high temp and no AF I'll test tomorrow with my last remaining test. Welcome back to all those vacationers! Hope they were restful and sucessful. I was definitely not a slave to my thermometer this past week. Brought it but never used it. I believe I'm CD 14 which means I should be O'ing in the next several days. Too bad I wasn't a little further along in my cycle 'cause there was a lot of BDing going on!

Good luck to all those testing . . . a sorry to those who are starting a new cycle.

Threadmistress....could you update a couple things in my profile? DH is now 31. Oh....and I'm also knocked up!!!

I actually tested this morning and got a line but wanted to verify with a couple more tests before I said anything. The digital clearly says pg! I can't even believe it. I was trying to figure out how to tell DH but I just got a phone call from him and his Dr admited him to the hospital for a bug bite he got while we were on vacation. So I guess I'll just be telling him in the hospital. No worries it sounds like, just a day or two of IV antibiotics. His leg is really swollen. So keep us in your thoughts that the antibiotics work quick!

I'm not even showing the signs right now. I hope it's soon. DH and I are going to be apart for 2-1/2 weeks starting this Saturday. :(

Thanks ladies! It's been almost unreal. I really didn't have any symptoms and I didn't think we had good timing with the bding so I wasn't expecting much. I was floored this morning when I took my temp and got that 98.4.

I just got back from the hospital and DH was excited and stunned. I think he was hoping we'd get more bding practice in before the BFP. His mom showed up after a little while so we didn't get to talk to much about it. We aren't telling the parents till 10-12 weeks.

As for his leg....it's less swollen but the red spot from the bite is huge. Hopefully he'll get out tomorrow but the Dr expected two days. When I told DH the news he said he needed to get out of the hospital now that we have to pay for a baby on the way :)

Pocahontas...yes we were going to take a break! I had already had the next four months planned out on what I was going to do before we start up again. So goes that I guess

well, this am I also had a really big temp jump. I was up with DD at about 2am and nearly puked a few times...so I wonder if this is it. Now to hope the temps stay up and that I can hold out testing. I only have 1 test here at home and really wouldn't like to have to buy more but knowing me, I will - I won't be able to hold out...even if it means bfn. When will I ever learn...

Sneak, since you've been pregnant before (pretty recently), I'd say you already know in your heart what's going on with your body. I hope you'll check in with some good news shortly.

Gymwidow, it seems like, from what I've read in these threads, upon getting PG, if your bb's would normally hurt from AF, then they don't w/ PG and vice versa, so...do you normally experience this or is this an unusual symptom? Let's hope it's a good sign and your 2ww flies by!!!

jessied1025, I hope you had a good appt yesterday. What did the doc say?

tealynn, this is a new symptom for me. I thought my boobs had hurt once or twice before, but I think it was more my imagination then, and they've never been this sensitive. Of course, now it seems to come and go, so who knows.

Sneak, yay! Congrats!!!!!

Jess71903, thanks!

So my temp did shoot up this morning and my boobs still hurt, although not all the time. And I had the most vivid strange dreams last night. The FPS are really piling up this time. Other than the sore boobs, I've had all these other symptoms before, though, so while my hopes are of course already up, it's hard for me to just *know* that this is it. I guess after so many rounds of treatment and all these IUIs, I'm really doubting that the SIXTH one will have worked. But it's not over yet! Only 6DPO.........

Congrats sneak and miaclear! What wonderful news! Wishing you all the best.

Well, I'm on the 2WW now. DH and I did a lot better this month. The last two months we weren't really trying, just not avoiding.

This month seemed like a good one, except I think we used up a lot of our energy for DTD a bit too early in the cycle. We'll see, but I'm not hopeful about this month.

Question: if you are DTD quite a bit more than usual, any tips for avoiding soreness, irritation, etc. Probably, TMI, but I don't think we've had this much going on since our honeymoon. I did just order the FemGlide, so hopefully that will help. Any thoughts?

polkadot
07-12-2006, 05:58 PM
Berry~ I was going to suggest Preseed, but I see that you already ordered the FemGlide. I think they work the same. That is one of my biggest complaints about TTC its so much at one time that it begins to hurt or become sore KWIM? The lube will help. My preseed is on its way...hopefully it gets here before next week.:D

I hope everyone is well...I am sitting here very bored at cycle day 10. Not much going on...hope we get some BFP's in here very soon...:D

Congrats Sneak! Best wishes for a healthy and happy pregnancy!! :) :)

Ladies, I have 2 questions.

1. Regarding EWCM vs seminal fluid: How long can seminal fluid be (length not time)? We DTD last night and this evening I had LONG EWCM, like 5 inches. Could this be "leftovers", or is that impossible (to be that long)? It would be early for me to be near O, but I've been getting earlier each month so it's possible.

2. Has anyone had tender boobs for a LONG time? My breasts have been tender for weeks now, for the last month almost (25 days). This is VERY strange for me, usually they're only tender for a couple days. Granted it's not as bad now as it was around my last 2ww, but they're still tender. Just wondering.

Thanks in advance!!

Berry - I hear you on DTD more than usual causing some discomfort. I try to spread out the days, so that we're every other, or at least am on day and pm the next. That and if I'm really enjoying the action, it makes it more comfortable (lubricated). So try extra foreplay. ;)

THANKS MIA! I guess I am just disappointed that I haven't had some major temp jump like the last few BFP folx have. I will know by tomorrow I'm sure though because it's 13DPO and 13 DPO is my longest LP. I was trying to hold out until Friday since 14 DPO would be PAST my longest LP...but I admit I POAS tonight only for what?! NOT a BFP or a BFN...I screwed the damn thing up! (It was a CBE and I think I pee'd so much it got into the digital part and that message "See Leaflet" came up! It's almost so funny :D it's sad 'cuz it was my LAST test. Gotta love it...) Guess it wasn't meant to be...maybe I'd just have been pissed at the results anyway. Oh well, BRING ON 13 DPO TOMORROW! :o

miaclear
07-12-2006, 07:58 PM
pocahontas.... oh that sucks. I did that once last cycle I believe where I tried to test and didn't even think about me not really having to pee. I went so little that nothing registered on the thing. Doh! Not only irritating in no answer, but in the $ spent on the test. Sleep well tonight and I'll hope for a high temp tomorrow for ya!

Ericka_Jarett
07-12-2006, 08:07 PM
Pocahontas - I think when I had the CBED, you can flip the test upside down to test on it, so that the eject button points down, that way nothing gets in it. Good luck tomorrow

honeygirl
07-12-2006, 08:12 PM
Hey ladies, does anyone have any answers for my questions on post 110 (sorry to be a bother)? I only ask b/c I'm wondering if we should BD tonight b/c of the EWCM (if that's what it is). Normally I would skip tonight since we did last night and it seems early to O (although ovusoft is saying I'm fertile). This is all so confusing. Any thoughts?

pocahontas
07-12-2006, 08:18 PM
THANKS ERICKA and MIA...I'm just trying to be--->

HONEYGIRL...I am no expert but I'm gonna guess that 5 inches was not seminal fluid but EWCM. I have never seen nor known seminal fluid to be "stretchy" like that. I think maybe you should DTD. Can't hurt right? ;)

flygirl
07-12-2006, 08:42 PM
Congrats, Mia & sneak! Yay!

pocahontas & honeygirl, semenial fluid can definitely stretch as far as 5". The longer it's in your body, the more it breaks down into a liquid, but prior to that, it's almost identical to EWCM. Semen can present a question for 48 hours or so as it slowly disovles into a more liquid-like substance, so essentially its presence will affect interpretation for at least 48 hours. That said, the only time you need to worry about it is around O. If you've already O'd and are now wondering about your CM... STOP! Unless there's any question about O, STOP WORRYING ABOUT IT!

Most women have a small estrogen surge half-way through their LP that leads to almost EWCM. It's more like a globule of rubber cement. This is entirely different from EW & should be counted as S or C. If this type of CM is very similar to your regular EWCM, then by all means, BD accordingly. I get this kind of CM regularly after an estrogen surge (& possibly a slight temp dip) and right before AF. All totally normal.

honeygirl, obviously you don't want to overdue it, but I suggest erring on the side of caution :). Also, my breast-tenderness has changed crazily over the past few years of charting. For the last 3 cycles I've been sore for 4 days pre-O, up to 3 days post-O, and then sporatically until AF. Other times I've been sore only during the last few days before AF; and others my entire LP. *This* part of my cycle I've given up on trying to understand.

berry, FemGlide, FemGlide, FemGlide. I can't recommend the stuff highly enough. In fact, DH uses the stuff when he wants to take care of himself, which speaks very highly of it ;).

gym, could I cross anything else for ya?! ;)

07-13-2006, 06:16 AM
berry, never thought we'd be complaining about too much sex, huh? :p I guess just try a lot foreplay and try something like FemGlide. Remember that you don't need to BD every single day; every other day is usually just fine!

honeygirl, I think seminal fluid can last for a while. There's a test where you can dunk it in a cup of water. Either it floats or sinks, and that tells you whether it's EWCM or not. I can't remember which floats, though! I don't usually get sore boobs, so I don't know about your other question.

pocahontas, crossing my fingers that this ends up being a 9-month LP!

flygirl, awwww, thanks! :)

puglover, when are you going to test?!?!

7DPO and I'm already feeling the urge to test. Boobs still tender and a little achy, off and on, and my temp keeps going up. My hopes are so far up that it's scary. It'll be quite a fall if AF does show. My longest LP in a while has been 10 days, so if I can just make it to Monday I'll test.

ETA: how could I forget to post this?!?! Last night during one of my again-very-vivid dreams I was out and I had a baby with me! I don't think I knew it at first, but then I realized it was my baby and she was a girl. :)

My cycle was really short this time. I had a shorter one back in November. I honestly wish they could all be like that. I'm starting to wonder if I O'ed sooner because I wasn't stressing about it. And right about the time I did O, things were winding down at work, and I was getting ready for 11 days off. Hmm....I think I'm on to something here.

The cramps are really bad for me this month. The good thing is that I didn't have my migraine like I usually do. But, I'm not going to get my hopes up that they won't be coming back.

So sorry AF found you, Mrs. Jackson! I feel the same way you do! It's hard to believe it could happen this cycle, since it hasn't happened in the last 11, but who knows! Keep your chin up, and maybe this will be your cycle!:)

Your chart is lookin awesome, gymwidow!!! I hope you and I can graduate together this month!!:D

Pullin for you pocahontas!!! When are you going to try to test again? FWIW. I always PIAC when doing HPTs, just because I am afraid I will mess it up!

honeygirl- I have NO clue about what you have going on with the EWCM vs. seminal fluid. If it is CM, WOW! That's some good fertile stuff!

Sorry so many of you are bored in your cycle! Hopefully that will mean a rash of BFPs later on!

Me- CD 23, 7DPO. A little nausea yesterday that could be caused by other things. I am not poking my boobs like I usually do because of the comment about if you usually have sore ones, you won't when you're pg...I usually do, so I don't want soreness this time! I had increased CM today. Don't know if that means anything or not. Just trying to play it  so I'm not disappointed again!

Sorry I haven't been back. My computer was acting up and everytime I would log in it would say I wasn't so I couldn't post! Very frustrating.

AF finally arrived the afternoon of 16dpo so this cycle can finally be put to rest. I have learned that symptoms and triphasic temperatures mean nothing and I am definitely not testing again until 18dpo of high temps and no AF. That was too stressful!

I am looking forward to starting over fresh this cycle.

Hey Jess...not looking good here. :( I am seeing spotting (which I'm sure will lead to the WITCH's arrival since I had a temp drop). So THREADMISTRESS I can be moved to "Taking a Break" since I'm T-minus 11 days from my Laproscopy and Hysteroscopy and I'm sure I will have to wait a couple weeks afterwards to hit the TTC trail again. oh, I am so sorry pocahontas! I was really pulling for you! How long have you been trying? I ask, because next cycle will start testing for me if this isn't it for me. Sorry PocohonotasI'm sure you're pretty bummed. Hopefully these tests will help you figure out WTH is up! (that being said, it's not over till it's over, could be implantation spotting???)

Gymwwidow I know you can't tell but I've got my hands over my mouth in anticipation for you. Even though your chart looks similar to your last chart, you have far surpassed your highest temps. from last cycle. OMG!! Just two more days.... can you wait???

Jess, Your chart's looking pretty sweet also!

Pug Sorry the ol' witch found you. But there's always next cycle to get worked up about!

Cowgirl, glad you're enjoying your break. It's nice to sit back and watch the insanity but not be a part of it. Kind of like being a designated driver. Please feel free to take away any of our keys should we start behaving badly!

Mrs. Jackson, so sorry girlie! I'm sure you feel like you're hitting a rough patch but things have got to get better!

Abirney, Polkadot and Honeygirl, here's hoping things liven up a little and you O soon!

I'm pretty sure I Oed yesterday or today or maybe tomorrow, I'll cover my bases tonight ;) I usually O around day 18 or 19 BUT something interesting happened yesterday. I started spotting, which I never do this far before AF. So, I know some people say the spot a little when they O (I haven't before)

OR okay, everybody, go out on a limb with me here, maybe I O'ed early (at the beach while not temping) AND the spotting and temp dip were an implantation dip?????? I guess I'm just trying to explain the spotting, which was very much like implantation spotting I've had before.

Okay, nothing like grasping at straws. Regardless, let the FPS games begin!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

tealynn- I would say it was very possible you O'd while on vacation. I can only see one other of your charts, but 98.2 is definitely a post-O temp for me and that's where you've been. I guess you won't know for sure until BFPor AF. Fingers crossed for you!!!

ETA: We posted at the same time, polkadot! I know what you mean about taking a break. I think when you've been charting a while and used to know what your body is doing, it's more stressful not to know. I tried a break once. It didn't stick. Thanks for looking at my chart, BTW. I am driving myself batty, starting at it and imagining symptoms, etc.

ABirney, thanks, me too!

MrsJackson, I'm sorry. I get that feeling a lot, too, and my DH is always telling me to keep believing in it. It's hard sometimes, though. I hope you can find the hope again soon!

cowgirl, thanks.

polkadot, thanks.

Jess71903, me too! I hope all your signs lead to that BFP.

PugLover, as good as charting can be, it can also be an evil tool that lets us hope and hope. I'm sorry AF is here and I hope she leaves soon!

pocahontas, hugs. I'm so sorry. I hope the lap and everything clears anything up so that you can graduate already!

tealynn, thanks, it's going to be hard to hold out (read below)! The spotting you had yesterday might just be ovulation spotting.

So I can see you ladies have been doing some chart stalking! :p I have to say, I'm so excited when I think of all my symptoms: the highest temps I've ever seen, sore boobs, mild cramps for a few days, VERY vivid dreams, and the fact that I seem ravenous all the time. A couple of hours after eating I'm starving again! Of course, all of this could be nothing, or just my mind playing tricks on me, or the progesterone. The supps can often give symptoms that mimic pg ones, so I take them all with a grain of salt.
