Thanks for starting the thread, lady1297! I was looking for it when I got my BFP, and I was sad it hadn't started yet.

As you can see, our son just celebrated his first birthday, and we were still unsure whether we wanted another. So this one came as a surprise! I am pretty scared over having two children under two, so I will need strength from you guys! eta: Don't get me wrong, I'm excited and happy! Just freaked out a little. :)

Happy and healthy pregnancies to everyone!

YEAH!!! Another March Mom!! Thanks for stopping by. I was disappointed one wasn't started, too, so after waiting a bit, I decided to get proactive. Of course, I still have a lot of links (THANKS FEBRUARY 2007 MOMMIES for the links!) to set up, but I'll get that done once my son takes his nap!! It's too confusing otherwise!

We're almost due date twins! HOW COOL!!!

I've known for exactly a week at this point and the feelings of shock and surprise have mostly worn off- now I'm starting to get really excited! Yes, we were trying, but it happened SO fast- we really thought it would take a few months. We told our parents over the weekend and everyone was thrilled since this will be the first grandchild on both sides.

Any other children: DD, Daytona Bailey - 10.25.05 and 3 kitties

Like my stats say, this pregnancy was a total surprise! I had been charting to TTA, but not temping, and I'm guessing I o'd on a different day this past cycle. Whoops! I'm elated and scared/nervous all at the same time. DD and this baby will be 16 months apart:eek: So I totally feel you Nanner with 2 under 2, only mine will be 2 under 1.5.

My only pregnancy symptom so far is that I am CONSTANTLY hungry all.the.time. I don't remember being this hungry with my last pregnancy, but I wasn't bfing either, so maybe that's it.

Look forward to getting to know everybody and going through this journey together!

Hey, betsyboop, you were married on my birthday! :cool:

Kanga, I'm glad I will have someone to commisserate with. Wow, only 16 months apart! Yikes! I guess mine will be about 19 or 20. I am totally guessing on my due date, because I don't even remember when my LMP was! I think I remember it being over Memorial Day weekend, but I can't quite remember. How bad is that? I guess we'll see what the doc says.

No symptoms for me yet, except that I just feel really chunky. DH does say my boobs are bigger, though. :rolleyes:

Now that I have the monster down for a nap, I came back to say that Threadmistress - you will probably want to allow more room for ultrasound pics and belly shots...each post will only allow 6 picutres, so as it stands, there's room for 12 u/s pics, and 6 belly shots.:)

Congrats ladies from an October, 2006 mommy.

Just in case it helps, for our 1st trimester thread we had 2 posts for u/s and 2 for belly shots. The 2nd trimester we added more posts, since lots of people don't get u/s until they are 20 weeks. We just replace out the older pic with the newer pic for posters. If you need more info, you can just pm me. (I am one of the threadmistreses for the October board.)

Silly internet ate my post...grrr...

Welcome Kanga and Betsyboop!!!! :) Glad we aren't alone!!

Kanga, I was hesitant too! I was convinced it was too early for the rest of the population to know, so I waited! Hehe! Silly me! This is CC where everyone is as neurotic as me!! :) O.M.G. am I hungry all the time too! I didn't relate it much, but now that you mention it!!

Betsyboop, I've known for about two and a half weeks and I'm still in shock sometimes! I'm thrilled and my mind is racing at about a million miles an hour, too!! It's amazing!!

So, we told our parents this weekend! I had my mom change my son after he made a mess with applesauce. I handed her the shirt which read "I'm the Big Brother". MIL was there and said she thought it was a hand me down. I laughed and all of a sudden, my mom's face lit up and she said "YOU'RE PREGNANT?" And got all giddy! MIL took a few more seconds to figure it out!! Silly woman, but she's thrilled! My dad's reaction was so funny:"Big Brother to what??" I said "A new baby!" And he got all excited!! I thought he was going to hurt himself when he got up!! And my single brother "A baby? Cool!" Silly brother! So, now family knows!! And the reactions were MUCH better than with my son!! Everyone was SHOCKED when we announced him! But I think they were expecting this one a bit more.

Congratulations from a June 05 mommy and a February 2007 mommy! I'm a co-moderator for both threads and what we have done for the Feb. 07 group is have two posts for u/s and belly shots. A lot of doctors won't do an early u/s so some won't have any to post until around 20 wks. You can add more posts when you start a second trimester thread. We replace the new u/s or belly shot and remove the old one.

Nanner ~ Our little ones are very close in age. We were wanting DD to be around 22/23 months old when baby #2 arrived but that didn't quite happen. Instead they will be about 19/20 months apart. It was quite a shock for us (we stopped BCPs and two wks later got a positive). So I can relate to how you feel.

I'd be glad to hear more suggestions from everyone else in regards to number of posts we'll need as we go along!! I was following Feb 2007 format, so that's why there were that many originally! :) I'm pretty flexible, though!

Speaking of belly shots, has anyone been brave enough to take them yet? I'm thinking I will today! I didn't with DS and am mad now that I didn't. I would have loved to be able to go back and look at them now. :( Hindsight, right?!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I also made my first appointment with the ob-gyn. It'll be on July 28th at 11am. I got a huge packet of info in the mail yesterday from them with all kinds of info and forms to fill out too. I like the fact that the ob-gyn group that my PCP referred me to uses the hospital that's about 3 miles from my house. The thing that I'm not so happy about is that you don't choose one of the 3 doctors in the group, you just get rotated between them and one of them is a man. I've NEVER been to a male doctor before, so I feel a little strange about it.

I totally forgot to take a belly picture last week when we found out, but I'm going to have DH take one tonight, which will be exactly 5 weeks. I really don't think my belly this week is any different than last week's anyway.

QOTD What are you most nervous about with this pregnancy/baby??

For me, it's a tie between how am Igoing to help my son transition from an only child to a 'big brother' when he has no concept of what 'big brother' means and giving birth. Since the birth of my son almost two years ago, two very dear friends of mine have had very traumatic births (one unmedicated c-section and the other a riped cervix). And what I thought was a wonderful experience overall now scares the pants off me. Both almost died during their labors and one almost left behind two kids without a mother. And that scares me on a different level. I didn't have those fears with my son, I didn't think those things 'really' happened to 'normal' people. So it scares me a lot. Another thing that freaks me out is having two kids. Sometimes DS is a handful enough!!

Nanner
07-06-2006, 07:01 AM
Thanks for coming by and wishing us well, everyone! That is so nice.

QOTD: I am definitely afraid of having a second child so close in age to my first one. I know when they get older, it will be great. My sister and I were only 21 months apart, and we got to be great friends in high school. But running around after two toddlers! I'm 36, and not in the greatest shape of my life. I'm afraid of being impatient with them. I'm afraid of being even more exhausted than I already am. But women do this all the time, right? Besides, the positives will greatly outweigh these things.

shimmerstar
07-06-2006, 07:10 AM
QOTD- I'm MOST afraid of losing this baby. Since I got pg so easily it's hard for me to believe in my heart that it's really going to work out. It seems like I'm always reading about someone having a miscarriage or something else awful happen to them. I would have a no meds birth in a heartbeat if I can just have a healthy baby.

I'm also very worried about how it will affect things at work after I take my leave. I don't have a very nice principal, but I love my grade and school, and I'm scared she's going to change everything around on me. I would rather not go back to work at all, but that's not going to happen.

betsyboop
07-06-2006, 07:41 AM
So far, I'm not too nervous about anything. Well, I guess I fear the lack of sleep when the baby comes, but that's probably more of a dread than a fear. I'm sure morning sickness won't be fun either, and of course labor is kind of scary too. I don't know, I'm really not much of a worry wart- that's DH's job:D

BFP: July 5, 2006
EDD: March 14, 2007
Gender Prediction: I have no idea, but DH is convinced girl!
Any other children: 2 dogs, Maggie & Simon and 2 cats, Benjamin & Moses

First Apt: July 24th ~ they are doing a scan which I assume means u/s since she said we will be able to see the baby!!

I almost couldn't believe it when I saw 2 (very dark) lines:D :D I had absolutely no symptoms (still don't) and had completely given up hope for this month! I keep looking at the stick to make sure it doesn't go away.

QOTD: I am most nervous of something being wrong with the baby/pregnancy, but I just keep telling myself that more are healthy and normal than not. I'm also nervous about picking a new Dr. I've been with mine for over 10yrs, but she only does Gyno and Infertility. I do have my first apt with her, as she doesn't pass you over to an OB until we make sure that everything is looking good, and she will help me pick a new Dr.

The Irish luck of a March baby is already helping this little one as he/she will be seeing Madonna tonight!! Now, hopefully no one catches on that momma's not drinking in the limo :D

I LOVE the names you have picked out!

We dont' have any picked out yet. The girl name we had picked out for my last pregnancy, I changed my mind on. It was Ava, and it's so overused now. I want to find something else. Why does it seem that all of the female names I like are overused??

Thanks. :)

For years, I was convinced I would name my daughter Elizabeth, but I tired myself out on it. I keep having your same problem with boys names. I loved Aiden even before it was on SATC, and I just can't bring myself to name my kid that because I know at least 3 in real life. Out of Sawyer, Holden, and Noah, my dh picked Noah. It seems like all the good boys names are really popular and have been forever. I'm worried about Noah becoming a girl's name too.

I love the name Ava. Have you read the book "Baby Name Wizard"? It might help you find something you like that's similar.

Welcome to the new mommies!

QOTD: Not nervous about anything yet. I'm sure I will be able to think up something to be nervous about soon.

Names: No names picked out but we do have a list of contender names that we started back in April. We'll probably add to and subtract from that list many many times before the little one is born.

Is anyone's DH going to the 1st ultrasound? I have one scheduled at the end of the month and I'm not completely sure that DH should/will go.

We decided this evening that we will go to my parents' house this weekend and tell them and have them keep it secret until the 1st trimester is over. Next weekend, we will go to his parents' house and tell his parents. His father is scheduled for a biopsy on some suspicious growths on his remaining kidney on the 19th. FIL had one kidney removed due to kidney cancer 4 years ago. We want to tell them before the surgery ~ just in case and to give him something to think about other than his kidney.

Names: We have a few picked out, but nothing set in stone. For a girl, it was going to be Mary Agnes, but now I'm liking a few other!! I like Elizabeth Anne and Lilly Anne now too. For boys I'm stuck on John Albert, but my SIL used John for her 8th child. So i think I'll be looking for another boy first name at least. I also like Caleb, but DH doens't go for it too much. So we're working on it!g

He has limited days off between now and the end of the year, so I'm letting him off the hook for now! :) Honestly, I'd invite you DH to the ultrasound, he'll want to see the baby I would think!

Is anyone's DH going to the 1st ultrasound? I have one scheduled at the end of the month and I'm not completely sure that DH should/will go.

Since mine is considered a high-risk pregnancy (my age, hypothyroidism, and a past uterine fibroid), my OB did an u/s on my first visit for my last pregnancy, which was around 4 weeks. I'm assuming she'll do that again for this one, but I won't invite DH to it. There's just not really much to see at that point. But if she does another one around 8 weeks to see the heartbeat, I'll def. want him there for that one.

Names: I was looking through a baby names site. I was thinking that I would use a Hebrew name (DH is Jewish), and I found a few I think are nice. What do you think of:

Ada
Ayla
Leah
Lois
Rachael

Nanner, Rachel is my name. I think it has served me well. Plus, no one could ever think of any way to make fun of it. I also knew a little girl named Ayla and she was very sweet.

I have no idea when I'm getting my (first? only?) ultrasound. Dh is taking off work early to hear the heartbeat in August though. He will probably come to the ultrasound too.

I'm kind of sad to think that DH won't be at all my appointments like he was with DS. I guess I could put up a bit of a fight, but I'm already having him take a week off in August so I can have 'family time' and that was scheduled prior to baby #2 showing up. So I can't complain tooo much. He'll be able to go to the later ones, which I feel are more important anyway, at least to us. That's when they start talking about what the birth plan is/induction/medications. And if anything starts going weird, then he'll take the time off. But it's only4 or 5 appointments he'll miss, ones where I'll be whining about being tired and such! Guess he won't miss much!!

Cool! I do think it's a very pretty name. I think many years ago, it was pretty popular, but doesn't seem to get as much attention lately. Kind of like Kelly or Melissa. :)

Yeah, he won't miss much, but I can understand that you're sad. At least you have your time with him in August! That sounds like fun.

So how is everyone this morning? I'm still the same. No symptoms yet. I'm having lunch with some of my closest girlfriends on Tuesday, and I so want to tell them about the baby. But DH and I made a deal not to share until we see/hear the heartbeat. I was working during my last pregnancy, so these were the people that knew first that time. It's hard not to share.

Funny, Rachel is a name that I've always liked a lot too. Elizabeth is also a good choice- it's my name and it seems to be working out for me so far:) The good thing about it is that there are so many nicknames that come from it. So even if there are a couple of Elizabeths in her class, chances are that there'll be a Beth, a Liz, and/or a Betsy and it won't be a big problem.

The only names we've come up with so far are joke names, like Zolar and Darth. I don't think we're going to get serious until the big ultrasound, so we know if we need a girl's name or a boy's name.

I don't even know when my ultrasound will be, but I know that DH will want to be there for it. They didn't mention that there would be one at my first visit at the end of the month, so I guess I'll just ask him if he wants to go with me just in case.

Dh kept picking weird names too. I remember Mercer Chakotay being one of them. I'm not sure where he picked up Mercer, but Chakotay is a character from Star Trek. :p

The reason I always liked Elizabeth so much was because of all the nicknames.

I'm only having a few minor symptoms- no ms yet. And I know it's okay not to have it, but I'm going to worry every day if I don't! I woke up at 3 and couldn't get back to sleep because I was worrying something would be wrong with the baby.

No names yet, we probably won't until we find out if we need boy or girl names. Some names I like are Chase, Dionte, Devaunte, and Aayla/Ayla (i like both the long A and long I pronunciations) Dh says he hasn't come up with any yet. He's so convinced it will be a girl, he has a hard time picturing calling the baby a boy's name. (I think it will be a boy)

Dh will probably come to most of the appointments. He rarely ever has weekends off, so it's not a big deal to him. That's about the only plus of him working weekends.

Scared/Nervous - How I'm going to carry around my daughter 9 months pregnant, and how I'm going to handle basically 2 babies, especially nursing. (16mo and newborn) MIL drives me nuts and is always asking to take dd overnight to her house, which I do let her now and again, but it's starting to get insane. This next baby I'm just not even going to bother with bottles if at all possible and maybe she'll leave me alone!:p

Don't worry - I'm so convinced I'm having a boy I can barely force myself to look at and decide on girls names for "no reason". I can NOT wait until the big u/s. For whatever reason I'm way more excited about it this time around.

Ironically, after months of talking about them, we had just come up with our first 2 contenders for names 2 days before we foung out we were pg (I was sure I wasn't at the time). For a boy we like Carter and for a girl Michael. I'm sure we will talk about a lot more, but we are testing these out right now and so far really like them.

DH is definately coming to my first apt ~ my Dr. said he absolutely should since we will be seeing the baby. I think I was in such shock when I was talking to hear I didn't comprehend it at first because I asked her if he should be there.

So far still no symptoms here either other than being tired. Not crazy tired, but definately having a hard time getting up in the mornings. I think I would feel better too if I had more, but maybe I should just take it as a blessing!

MrsKinnison,

I've never heard of Michael for a girl. It's interesting. And not interesting-bad! Just interesting!

MrsK and shimmerstar: Try not to worry about the no symptoms. It's still really early on. I'm sure when we get them, we'll think back on these days very fondly!

My brother's name is Michael, but it would have been the same if he were a girl too. One of the members of the Bangles was named Michael. I used to love them!

If I had been a boy my name would have been Nathan. It's one of the few popular boy's names I would consider, but we knew a geekoid Nathan so there's bad name mojo going on. :)

A September 2006 mommy-to-be stopping by to wish all of the March mommies-to-be a happy and healthy PGcy.

I was reading along the first couple of pages of your thread and just wanted to let you know what we are doing in regards to u/s pictures and belly shots. Being one of the threadmistresses for our thread and having 40+ our info and pictures were taking up alot of space and it got a little unorganized. So as a solutions we did Mommy IDs for everyone, that way everything is in one place. The idea is to add any addtional u/s or belly shots as an animation so all of your pictures stay but you only use 1 out of the 6 allowed per post. To give you an idea this is what mine looks like:

That's how I feel about the name Kyle. I was in high school choir with a dorky guy named Kyle. Not only was he geeky, but he was mean, too. So I associate that name with him to this day. And I have a nephew named Kyle!

MrsK, after giving it some thought, I really like Michael for a girl. (Like my opinion matters anyway, right?) You are allowed to use it. :)

Thanks on the feedback re: DH and 1st Dr's visit. I can just imagine my DH wierding out or getting grossed out by the whole thing. How he'll handle the delivery is beyond me.

Any symptoms? Is hiccupping a symptom? I've had them several times over the last couple of days. The gas is plentiful. My nipples are tender. A client gave me a hug today and I nearly yelped. My boob stung for a minute or two after. I've also been pretty tired but I 've had a couple of trials this week and have worked extra hard to prepare for them. (I'm a domestic violence attorney.)

I like the Mommy ID's too. Anybody want to share how they are made?

I'd be glad to the do the Mommy Id's I just have NO CLUE how too!! And as threadmistress, it would be good to know! :) Directions anyone??

Symptoms: Rash. Rash, and more rash. I have this weird rash that comes and goes. I had it with DS aroudn this time of the year and no one ever knew what it was. It shows up on my hands and feet (and once on my thighs this pregnancy) and is worse in the morning and ITCHES like crazy. It was why I tested so early. I woke up with it on my hands and I thought, "No way!" Viola: Positive. And I'm TIRED. So those are my pregnancy symptoms...

Boy o Boy am I tired! I got home from Madonna at 1:30am, went straight to bed and literally dragged myself out of bed at 9:30 this morning. I took an hour nap before going to work tonight (I waitress pt) and have been literally exhausted all night!

Oh, and I really like those ID's too!

I really like the id's as well. You'd either have to borrow the ID image for a sept mommy or make our own on photoshop.

Nothing much new here. I'm scared to step on the scale and see how much I've gained already. It's only 8am, and i've already had a huge bowl of cereal and 3 slices of toast:eek: I think I'm going to eat us out of house and home at this rate. I called an obgyn clininc (the same dr. that delivered my sister and I) but they said they're watching their numbers and would give a call next week. I sorta lied and said I wasn't sure when my LMP was because I want an u/s:o :p

Here is another one of my symptoms: gaining weight! I know I shouldn't be. When I got my bfp I started eating a lot more fruits and veggies, fiber, and calcium. Yes, I ate a lot of junk before and I'm trying hard not to do that now. I also started walking about 3 days a week, which I didn't do before. So why am I averaging a two pound/week gain?!

It's not water weight because my ring still fits and everything. It's all in my stomach. I can't even get into most of my pants anymore. And when school starts I won't have anything to wear unless I go buy maternity clothes, which I'm really tempted to do. This really sucks, because I'm not using pgcy as an excuse to pig out, but I'm gaining weight like crazy. And I was a big girl to begin with, which is even weirder because I've heard big people sometimes gain only 15 pounds or so when they are pg.

Thanks for letting me rant. I'm so frustrated every time I try to get dressed for something, and I really am worried that I'll be two months along in maternity pants. At least they would be comfortable, I guess.

Increasing your fiber intake like that can cause a little havok on your system at first. If your body isn't used to it, it's not great at prossessing all that new fiber, and the result is a lot of gas and bloat in the belly. Also, fruits are really good for you, but we often forget they are still full of sugar ~ good sugar, but sugar none the less. Most apples, bannanas, etc are bigger than what is considered to be one serving, and if I recall correctly you should only have 3 fruit servings max a day. If your not having more than that, I am willing to be the increase in fiber is doing this and will eventually correct itself. Also, (sorry if this is tmi here) if your not have good "movements" that will bloat your belly and add pounds on the scale too.

This I don't know for sure, but in all the early belly shots I've seen girls have a little belly in the first few weeks that they all say is bloat. Just belly bloat, so that would totally explain why your rings fit, but your pants feel snug.

Of course, this could all just be because you are having twins... JUST KIDDING :D :D

Hope this helps a little ~ you are doing the right thing with changing your diet and exercise and I bet your body catches up with you soon enough!

I had that fleeting thought too. But even if I were I'm pretty sure I still shouldn't be gaining all this weight. Maybe it is all the fiber- I usually get two servings of fruit a day, plus veggies and a high fiber cereal. I might go on fitday.com and just track what I'm eating to make sure it's not sneaking in on me somewhere. This sucks!

Well, girls, I'm experiencing my first symptoms this morning. I am exhausted, and a little icky and woozy. I stayed in bed much later than usual. Luckily, my DS played quietly in his crib so I could get a few extra Z's. I hope he takes all of his naps today, because I'm going to be right there with him!

Does anyone else feel exactly the same as they did before they were pregnant? I swear, if someone told me that I had made a mistake and that I'm really not pregnant, I'd believe them! (Other than the fact that my period is 2 weeks late:D) When does morning sickness typically kick in? What about all the acting crazy and emotional? I'm not even feeling tired yet. It's weird.

I think Michael Learned was the name of the actress that played the mother on The Waltons. I'm such a nerd for knowing that:p

betsyboop, I kind of feel the same way. I only have a few mild symptoms, and every day I'm scared that the baby died and that's why I don't have any.

Dh's mom and sister both said that if I haven't had MS at 6 weeks I won't get it at all. A few times I have felt a little nauseated, but it's only after I eat. I think my digestion has slowed way down and it's causing me to feel really bloated, but not really MS.

I know I am a little further along but I never had one day of m/s. I thought for sure I would be one of the unfortunate people who would make several runs to the bathroom. I would get a little nauseated but figured out it was just my body reacting differently to being hungry and as long as I would nibble on something till I had a lunch (Cherios were great!) I felt great. Oh and ice water was wonderful also.

Bestyboop: I never had an ioda of ms with my son. Not even close. If you disregarded the tiredness, I never had a pregnancy symptom with him until I started to show! I consider it a huge blessing! This pregnancy is following the same course. Just tired a lot. My mom always said that you only get sick if you think you will. So I just always had positive thoughts tha tI wouldn't get m.s. and I think it helped keep it away!

Well, I took a belly shot the other day. I don't think I'll be posting it just yet...looks like I'm about four months along already based off that photo!But it will be nice to see it get bigger! DH is out of town for the week, fishing in Canada, so DS and I are just hanging out for the week spoiling ourselves! He got a haircut today and that's about all I plan on doing all week! He looks like such a big boy (He's 23 months old!). I already miss his pretty curls...sigh. Guess that's why I get to have another baby soon!

I have very mild nausea off and on now. And I have learned that it is worst when I eat something sweet. :( I also have very mild soreness in my bbs, but nothing major. My worst symptom is ACNE (on my chest and back...GROSS).

Worry - My biggest worry is that my due date is wrong. I went from thinking I was due on 2/20 to 3/05. That is a big difference. I worry that my conception date wasn't wrong and that the baby just isn't growing correctly. :( I am trying to be optimistic though!

Me: Michelle, 34
DH: H, 35
Married: 7/2001
TTC: 5/2006
BFP: 7/10/2006
EDD: 3/16/2007
Gender Prediction: hmm, I'm thinking...boy!
Any other children: DS, "K" 2 years old

This will be my second baby, my son, K, is two years old. DH and I sadly only BD'd once this past month (how sad to admit this! :o ), when I was pretty sure I was O'ing (based on CM). I guess we hit the nail on the head! I tested this afternoon and the second line appeared immediately. I'm still getting used to the idea of having two kids!!

I used to be on the WC boards with my first, and have been lurking the boards over here every now and then. It was such a good experience being a part of a "community" the first time around that I just knew I wanted to do it again!

Symptoms: Two days after we BD, my BB's were sore, and they're never sore, so that made me wonder. Last night I felt some "pulling" feeling in my abdomen, that also made me think to myself, "hmmm". Otherwise, no real M/S yet!

Looking forward to the next 36 weeks with you all!! :D

edited to add: I forgot, I already made my appointments! I have one next week to fill out paperwork, and attend a class (though I'll be able to leave early since I went through the class w/#1). My first real appointment is Aug 22nd :)

Gender Prediction: I would take either right now.
Any other children: Just fur babies. Luca our cat and Jackson our dog.

I'm calling tomorrow to schedule my first appt. I'm hoping I get in earlier than usual cause I had a deer tick on me this morning which sometimes will spread Lyme's disease. I'm sure it's no biggie and the tick was fine but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Plus getting in early would be a bonus.

Symptoms: None really. I was on vacation for the majority of my 2WW so I wasn't obsessing about anything. Three days ago though I noticed I was OVERLY bloated and my boobies were a little larger than normal. I associated that to overeating on vacation and the anticipation of AF.

Welcome Stacie, Mochi & MiaClear!!!

I still feel pretty much like my normal self, just a little more tired. I took a nap from 5-7 and I can't wait to go to bed again!! Other than that, I am actually less hungry and have actually lost 2lbs ~ thats probably normal right??

Question: everything I read says no Sushi, but pg Japenes women must eat it all the time....can I really not have it?

MiaClear, I just got an article from our local hospital that it takes 24 hours to transmit lyme disease. Deer ticks are also really really tiny. If it was normal size, or not on you long you are probably fine, so try not to worry too much (but definately talk to your dr).

miaclear
07-10-2006, 08:35 PM
MrsKinnison...the tick was really small and I'm pretty sure it was a deer tick. It wasn't a regular woodtick for sure. However I'm guessing it was only sucking on me overnight so the 24 hour thing is a relief. Thanks for the info.

-----------------------------------------------
I think this applies to most of us....

* Your baby's birthstone will be Aquamarine (Courage)
* Your baby's Astrological Sign will be Pisces
* Your baby's Flower will be Daffodil or Jonquil (White or Light Blue)
* Your baby will be born in the Chinese Year of The Pig
* This time next year your baby will be 17 Weeks Old!
* Your baby will start kindergarten in 2012, be old enough to drive a car in 2023, finish high school in 2025, and will graduate from college with the class of 2029, give or take a year. Can you imagine?

Ack...those years are so futuristic!

An interesting thing in the NoNo list I'd never heard of:

Oral Sex
Don't worry, you needn't swear off oral gratification entirely. (After all, when you hit that physically awkward last trimester, there may not be much else you can do between the sheets.) But when he's pleasuring you, your mate should be careful not to blow air into your vagina, if that's something that's part of his, uh, repertoire. Why? Your blood vessels are dilated during pregnancy, and, though the chances of this happening are very rare, a fatal air bubble could potentially enter your bloodstream, McCartney explains.

Welcome, StacieLady, mochi & miaclear! Wow, 3 new members all in one day!

Question: everything I read says no Sushi, but pg Japenes women must eat it all the time....can I really not have it?

The reason sushi is off limits is because, with raw meat of any kind, the chance of there being bacterial contamination is exponentially larger than with cooked meat. So just like any other "off limits" food, it's not that it will for sure harm your baby. It just raises the chance of something happening.

I love sushi, and I had a really hard time not eating it in my last pregnancy. But switching to cooked rolls, or vegetarian rolls, really helped. I was at least able to go to my favorite sushi place, and partake in the experience. They made an especially delicious sweet potato roll--mmmmm!

Welcome, StacieLady, mochi & miaclear! Wow, it's a busy day for the March 2007 thread!

MrsKinnison- I think I've read that you can eat sushi if it's from a place that you trust and have never gotten sick from before. Either that, or just have some of the cooked or veggie options.

MSH
07-11-2006, 08:19 AM
MrsKinnison The concern with Sushi is the raw meat and the preparation of the vegetables used. Eating undercooked meats or raw vegies, which were not cleaned properly could cause infection by the salmonella bacteria and the toxoplasmosis parasite.

Salmonella will get you sick but hasn't been proven to cause damage to your baby. You would need to make sure you drink plenty of fluids if you were to contract salmonella.

The main concern is toxoplasmosis. This parasite can cause early labour, birth defects etc. This is found in undercooked meats, in soil on veggies and also in cat faeces. The good news is you can get a blood test done to see if you have already contacted this parasite and thereby would be immun. If you have had a cat for a long time this is very likely. This parasite only causes harm if the mother contacts it for the first time shortly before getting PG or during PGcy ... mainly the 1st trimester.

I hope this helps :)

I'm so glad I don't like sushi! It seems like that's what a lot of women on here miss when they are pg.

We told my dh's family this weekend. We set up a photo slideshow of our new bathroom, and then the last picture was a baby swing with a sign that said "reserved for baby wildcat". They are huge KU jayhawk fans, and we all went to Kstate. We showed his mom and his sister, and they were both happy, but very contained- no excitement, no screaming. Complete opposite of my family. Then we showed his dad (a retired army officer) and he said "ohhhhhh". Then a few minutes later he asked what the plan for dinner was. :rolleyes:
He is happy and excited, but getting him to show emotion is impossible! We had a good visit, though.

Kanga, your id was cute too- I just missed it. I don't know how you people do that stuff!

Boobs keep getting more sore. I feel like I'm peeing every 20 minutes. I've been told to try to drink two 32 oz. containers of water a day. If I did that, I would have to move my office into the restroom.

Here's a website I stumbled across somewhere: www.safefetus.com
It tells you what OTC and prescription drugs are safe to take during a pregnancy. Since I won't be seeing my Dr. for another couple of weeks, I've found this very helpful.

Morning sickness - I'm convinced the only reason I ever got ms my last pregnancy is because one night for supper I wanted crab ragoons and ate waaaay too many of them and got sick. I couldn't even think about any kind of cheese for months after that without getting sick even though the general nausea went away around 12 weeks.

other symptoms - I'm a lot more tired than normal but have started taken iron supplements so it's a lot better. I also feel like I'm eating for about 8 people instead of 2. Other than that, everything is normal.

My symptoms when I first suspected was my boobs were huge but not sore, and I was really bloated. However with AF around the corner I was thinking nothing of it. The last couple days I've been super tired too but that could be because I'm adjusting to life after vacation and my cat seems to want to keep me up in the middle of the night.

I bought a copy of Fit Pregnancy today and the What to Expect book. I really wanted to buy some itty bitty clothes but I think I'm going to hold off on that till 12 weeks. That will require some willpower :)

Kanga: the iron supplement idea is a good one. I may look into that for my fatigue. How much do you take? Is that in addition to your prenatal pill? I'm on prenatal's and don't want to OD on iron, but I'm just SOOOO tired most days. But I also have insomnia, at least right before bed. Once I"m asleep, I'm okay, it's just convincing myself to go to sleep.

I'm telling one of my best friends tomorrow. She's my son's godmother, so I'm beyond excited to tell her! After that, I only have one more friend to tell in person, and she and her family are coming in from California in two weeks. Then everyone who I want to tell in person will have been told.

I've been wondering lately about whether this is a girl or a boy. I know there is no way to really know yet, but my gut is saying boy and my heart is saying girl. Yeah, nice that they agree, huh?! I'm coming to terms with the idea that I may be the mom to two boys. I mean I know what boys do, how to care for boys and of course I have TONS of clothes already. But I'd love to have a daughter. Of course, I don't think we are done having kids, so I'm not totally worried that I'll never have a daughter.

I've had something weird today twice. I've felt really queasy. Okay, I know that's not the weird part, but it only seems to happen after I eat. Everything I've seen says empty stomachs cause ms, not being full. So maybe I'm just eating too much! Is it weird that I kind of hope it is MS?

I told my two best school friends today. We were talking and talking about babies and finally one of them said "does your mom know that you're trying?"

I said "she knows I'm having a baby. In March". They seemed happy, and promised not to tell anyone at school. I really don't want the principal to know because she will likely switch my grade. So hopefully they can hold out until Sept.

And I'm a freak, but I've been taking online gender predictor tests. Since I can't answer all the questions I've been getting mixed results. :)

Re: Iron Supplements

Those of you taking iron supplements, I suggest the brand Slow FE (http://www.drugstore.com/qxp17378_333181_sespider/slow_fe/slow_release_iron_tablets.htm). It's time-released, so it doesn't back up your system like regular iron. I take it on a regular basis (I'm slightly anemic).

i am truly so shocked (but happy) right now. my husband and i had planned to start trying in the next couple of months, but on the advice of a good friend of mine decided to have a deliberate accident (supposedly so we wouldn't get too hung up on the process, etc.?). i didn't have any real symptoms (although like miaclear i am extra bloated and even for me my boobs are out of control huge) but kinda felt a little "funny". my period was due a couple of days ago and yesterday, i decided to test. i got a very faint line and talked myself out of jumping to any conclusions. i took another test this morning (waaaaaay early before a 6am flight) and again got a faint line; again, convinced myself i was over-thinking things. all day at work i was distracted, and after work i marched to the store, bought a digital test and took it as soon as i got home. despite the two previous tests, i was completely shocked when 'pregnant' showed up in the itty bitty window.

i am travelling on business right now, and my husband is working in NYC for the rest of this month (!), so any romantic ways to tell him went straight out the window! i confessed to him today over the phone that i had taken the two "faint line" tests and he cautioned me not to get carried away, it was highly unlikely it would happen for us right away, etc. i called him just now and told him it's the real deal and he is very blissed out! he has been wanting this for a LONG time and will be an amazing daddy. i can't wait to see him (next weekend) and hug him and get excited together.

i am so happy about this, but overwhelmed too (as i'm sure many of y'all are). i have a very stressful job, and am the main breadwinner in the family, and i almost cannot imagine how i'll be able to make it work. but i know i will!

let's face it - there is no way i'm getting any sleep tonight! :p sorry for the long, rambling message and congratulations to all of you guys!

Just a little while ago I felt some mild menstrual-like cramps, but then it felt like a tummy ache, so I'm attributing it to the prenatal vitamin I had just taken. I'm still not feeling pregnant, I don't remember how it was in the beginning of my first pregnancy :confused:

I took two EPT tests yesterday when I got my BFPs. The second line showed up immediately and was pretty dark...but maybe I'll buy a digital test and try that, too! This morning I woke up, all excited as I reminded myself, "I'm pregnant!"

mochi, i have cramps that sound kind of like what you're describing - a bit milder than menstrual cramps, in my case. it feels like PMS for sure.

the digital test really helped me to get some closure... but i have a feeling it won't be the last test i take over the next few days :cool:

Welcome Cheri!

Iron supplements - I was found to be anemic when I had the GTT and just to take one OTC iron pill a day in addition to my prenatals. I never realized how tired I felt until I started taking them regularly. I started feeling exhausted a couple days ago and wasn't sure if it was regular 1st tri fatigue or low iron as I've been getting the same amount of sleep as I have been since dd was born. So I started taking them again and I feel better already after only 2 days. I don't think it would hurt to take them, other than the constipation symptom but I've never had that.

Wow, we are getting new Moms by the minute ~ WELCOME, WELCOME!!!

I've had some mild cramping, which although I know is normal, I don't like it! I am tired, could nap everyday and have the hardest time waking up in the morning (I'm just getting up now). I think I really need to start going to bed earlier than I am. BUT, my boobs don't hurt, they don't seem bigger, I'm not bloated (except I seem to be at night), and I have actually lost 3lbs ~ do you think thats okay? Also, am I the only one that has only taken 1 test???

Welcome sneak - we must have cross posted. And of course there's always room. I think most threads have 30 or so people, so we've got aways to go.

MrsKinnison Originally I only took one, but I took another one a few days ago just to make sure I still was pregnant.

BUT, my boobs don't hurt, they don't seem bigger, I'm not bloated (except I seem to be at night), and I have actually lost 3lbs ~ do you think thats okay?

Sounds normal to me. Some people stay the same size (boobs that is) the entire pregnancy, and the only time I bloat is sometimes after dinner. I've gained 3 lbs, but also lost about 1 1/2 pounds, so overall I'm up, but I've also lost weight.

Welcome to all of the new Moms-to-be! How exciting! Our little group is growing and growing!

BUT, my boobs don't hurt, they don't seem bigger, I'm not bloated (except I seem to be at night), and I have actually lost 3lbs ~ do you think thats okay? Also, am I the only one that has only taken 1 test???

Different people have different symptoms. I'm sure you're fine. Weight loss in early pregnancy isn't unheard of either. Don't worry!

I've only taken one test. Probably because I was so freaked out by it. :D I know with my first pregnancy, I was so excited, I took 3.

Question: I know we're supposed to optimally eat 300 extra calories (above our weight maintenance calorie level) to gain the proper amount of weight during pregnancy. How do you guys plan on getting these extra calories? Have you even thought about it yet?

Here's my deal. I have been overweight a great portion of my adult life. Of course, I can easily eat the allotted number of calories if I'm eating garbage. But eating healthy meals, I have a hard time hitting 2300 (which is my personal magic number). I usually end up closer to 1800. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting those extra calories in, while still sticking to healthy foods?

on the weight-gain thing, i thought that the extra calories were only needed starting in the second trimester. maybe i'm wrong.

Welcome Cherry & Sneak - the more the merrier! Cherry - I believe we have the same due date!

Cramps - I'm having some too. I remember with my 1st pg that I had them for the first month. Everytime I felt a cramp I would run to the bathroom to check and make sure AF hadn't decided to arrive and the whole thing was just a dream!

Symptoms - I don't have ANY! I don't think I did last time either for at least another month. I remember everyone else talking about ms and sore bb's and I had nothing. Last time I was jealous - this time I'm thankful!!!!!!

I've never heard anything like that. I would think extra nutrition in the first trimester would be extremely important, since the baby is developing at such a rapid pace at that time. I'm no expert of course, but that's just my way of thinking.

nanner...I had read somewhere that we should only be eatting about 300 extra calories in our 2nd and 3rd trimester and should stay the same during the first. Another book I read said 100 extra the 1st, and 300 extra the 2nd & 3rd. Either way....I don't think I'll have a problem getting them in :) I do plan to drink a LOT more milk. I've pretty much been a diet soda (limiting that to 1/2 a can a day, maybe one full can...till I talk to my Dr.) and sugar-free koolaid drinker to stear clear of the extra calories in Milk. Now I'm not going to worry about it and drink up!

Welcome Sneak!!!

either way, extra nutrition, rest and stress management is definitely very important at this point. miaclear, extra milk is a good idea - i'm going to work on that too. i am going to try to up my fruit intake and keep drinking lots of water. i also need to really focus on getting my protein and iron in as i do not eat meat (although i do eat fish and need to up my intake of that, just not the high-mercury-content type).

brink - very excited that we have the same due date! hope i did my math right.

my cramps are still kicking around, but i think they now have butterflies to keep them company - i'm happy ;) how i'm supposed to get any work done around here is beyond me!

hope everyone's having a good day.

extra calories Let me tell you - I have absolutely zero problems getting in extra calories:D For my breakfasts (yes, that's plural as in 2. I feel like the Hungry Hungry Hippo this pregnancy), I usually have a bagel with cream cheese or cinnamon sugar, an english muffin, or a bowl of cereal and a thing of yogurt. For lunch I usually have something pretty quick. Today was mac n cheese, the other day it has hot pockets and a left over sloppy joe. Also make chicken and cheese quesadilla's quite a bit. Sometime around 2 or 3 I have some sort of snack - yogurt, an instant breakfast drink (which are great alternative for a sweet tooth, tastes just like chocolate milk but has a lot more vitamins and minerals) or a little debbie snack (my one junk treat a day, otherwise I'll eat up the whole box:o ). Supper is usually around 6 and is whatever dh makes. Some sort of casserole, grilled meat, or something like that, and I try to get in a vegetable or fruit as I don't eat much. I'm trying to eat more fruit for my afternoon snacks. Then around 8 (I told you I was tough copmetition for a hippo) I may or may not have a bedtime snack. Just whatever I can find around the house. I'm also nursing, and they say that takes an extra 500 calories, but I doubt I need that much for nursing as were down to one session a day now first thing in the morning. I have no idea what my deal is, I'm thin, but definately not underweight, and I'm honestly hungry every time I eat. *shrug* I wouldn't doubt I get about approx 2500-3000 calories a day. I remember being a lot more hungry my first pregnancy, but near this bad.

Is anyone else in the thread still nursing? I ask because of what I just wrote above. I feel like a cross between the Hungry, Hungry Hippo and a bottemless pit.

Who have we told I've only told my sister and a friend, and dh has told one co-worker. Except for my sister, we're really not all that close to our families so were waiting until most of the 1st tri has passed. I really wouldn't want to hear about it from them should something happen. When we get dd's 9mo pics taken in a couple weeks, one of the shirts she's going to wear says "I'm the big sister" and that's how we'll "tell" them.

What have I bought so far Nothing so far since this is my second. I have plenty of teeny tiny outfits, pregnancy books, and name books. All we're planning on buying for this one is a second crib and sheet set, a co sleeper if we haven't moved by the time the little one arrives, a diaper bag, and clothes. If it's anohter girl, we'll still need quite a few as dd was a fall baby and this one will be late winter/early spring.

who have we told: it's ridiculous since we only found out last night, but i've already told my parents and two sisters. i'm from europe and my whole family is there but we're still very close, and it's just not an option for me not to tell my mama :) then a good friend from work who is already pg and who told me the day she got her BFP - i couldn't not tell her! we'll tell my husband's family around labor day, as well as other friends. we have a few events coming up, so i hope we don't slip and tell others in the meantime ;)

what have i bought so far: i ordered "my boys can swim" for the huzbin, and "what to expect..." for moi. trying to hold back but who knows how i'll fare this weekend.

Nutrition - Well, I've mentioned that I actually have a decrease in appetite, but DH is all over me to make sure I am feeding this one. I take my PN Vitamins in the morning, but you can't have them with dairy (pharmacist said at least 2hours ~ both can't be in your stomach at the same time) so for breakfast I have been having a piece of whole wheat or multigrain toast with peanut butter. For lunch it depends, today was PB&J with one of those 100calorie cheeze-it snack packs, around 4 or 5 I will probably have a string cheese or yogurt mixed with fiber one, then around 8:30-9 we will have dinner (we are always late eaters)... last night was grilled chicken & salad, tonight will probably be Turkey Burgers. I do have 1 cup of coffee in the morning, then water the rest of the day, except with dinner I have skim milk.

Who we've told ~ only 1 person who used to just be an online friend, except we've started to becoming real life friends now too. We got close since we were both trying (and really no one knew we were trying), but live in the same town so we are definately more friends now. I actually feel bad, because she has been trying longer and isn't pg yet, even with meds and IUI. We won't tell anyone until about 12 weeks.

What have I bought ~ just a journal. I'm afraid to buy books, magazines, even sign up for emails, until my apt on the 24th. That doesn't mean I don't look, I just don't buy or sign up :D

Thanks for the warm welcome! We're still letting it all sink in. I'm not sure how I'll handle a 2 year old (who is a big trouble maker) and a newborn! We just find it so strange that this child has the EXACT SAME due date as DD#1. I guess we only BD on one particular day! hehe

QOTD1 - Who have we told? Seeing as though I only found out this am, a surprising number of people! SIL (who is expecting and its her bday today), BIL (his birthday today too - they are twins), and one friend at work, and of course CC. Tonight when I get home from work I am printing the decal for my DD shirt that says "I'm going to be a big sister" and then going to visit IL's quickly before her bedtime to tell them. I want my parents to see the shirt too but don't know if I can hold out a few weeks (not sure when we'll see them next - live 2 hours away).

QOTD2 - What have I bought? I still have everything from DD (she is only 16 months) but have bought a bassinett from a garage sale BRAND NEW IN BOX a few months ago in anticipation of a imminent pregnancy! If we have a girl, we're completely ready, but if we have a boy - well, the poor boy may be wearing a lot of pink!

shimmerstar
07-12-2006, 02:49 PM
Sneak, your daughter and I have the same birthday. :)

QOTD 1- We have told my family, his family, and two work friends. They have all been told to keep it a secret, although it is doubtful that they will. Another person at work knows we were trying, so she asked me today and I lied. I love the girl, but she will tell everyone, and I don't want my principal to know. So I lied. Boo.

QOTD 2- We bought a swing at a garage sale before I was pg. I haven't bought anything because I'm afraid to jinx it, although I've been tempted to start buying maternity clothes.

Last night I dreamed that I went for an ultrasound because they couldn't find a heartbeat, and then I was walking around wondering if I was pg or not because the doctor didn't tell me. :(

Nanner
07-12-2006, 04:25 PM
Nanner - have you asked your doctor about if you need the extra calories since you said you are overweight. I am also overweight, but the doctor never told me to make sure to get extra calories, just to make sure I eat what I need nurtrition wise. I am also diabetic, they think possibly before I got pregnant, but not sure.

I haven't spoken to her about it, but in my last pregnancy, I increased my calories during the entire pregnancy. I only gained about 20 lbs., and I lost all of them by my 6 week post-partum appointment. DS was only 6 1/2 lbs. at birth, too, so it wouldn't seem that the extra calories were detrimental in any way to either of us.

Interesting info in that link, though. Thanks for providing it. Interesting to see the differing points of view out that different doctors have.

Update for me: Threadmistress, can you please change my due date to March 9?

I had my first appointment today, and it looks like I'm 5w5d +/-2d. Although the little kiddo was so small, it was hard for her to really be accurate. I'll have another appt. in 2 weeks, where we'll do another ultrasound, to get a better idea of the due date.

QOTD: We've told our immediate family members and our closest friends. Everyone else, we will tell once we see the heartbeat.

Brink

QOTD1 - Who have we told - our immediate family and friends. We waited the last time until 12 weeks, but just didn't want to this time. I think because we have made it through one successful pg, I feel more confident this time around. I know that doesn't guarantee anything, but I do feel better about it.

QOTD2 - We haven't bought anything. With DD only 9 months old, we have so much stuff already. I'll probably hold off on buying anything until we know if it is a boy or a girl (around 20 wks). I really only plan on buying bedding and clothes (if it's a boy), so I kinda have to wait for that. Bummer.

For those of you who are interested in purchasing books - I would highly recommend "your pregnancy - week by week". We found this to be a lot of fun because you can follow their development each week and really get a "picture" of what's really in there.

I was browsing Old Navy and Gap Maternity today. Man.... my jeans were tight to begin with and unless this bloated feeling goes away I might just be the first person to wear maternity clothes at 6 weeks. Ugh.

I'm so afraid of buying things at this point, but I'm all over the internet looking now. I had to force myself not to go to the Babies R Us which is about 5 minutes from my work tonight. I know I won't buy anything but I'm afraid if I go in there I'll be there all night sitting in the mock nurserys.

TOP FIVE
Ok....there are a TON of things I'm worried about right now. So I'm posting my top FIVE. If anyone else wants to join in (and tell me my worries are yours and we're all just crazy to worry about them that would be great too). In no particular order

1) Am I really ready to be a parent? How can I possibly want to give up my childless/free marriage for sleepless nights, vomit/poop, screaming kids at the airport?

2) My cat steped over me in my sleep last night and litterly put her paw on my mouth. Toxop. Anyone? (I am officially off litterbox duty)

3) Healthy Baby! Healthy Baby! Healthy Baby! Could I handle having a sick baby? I don't even want to think about it.

4) I'm going to get SO fat! I hope to gain the minimal amount the Dr recomends cause I know I could be pushing the 200s when this is all said and done. That FREAKS me out.

5) DH...does he want this baby as much as me? Does he fear the same things as I do? Will he still desire me when I'm fat? God forbid something happens and I have to raise this baby alone. I hope we communicate well throughout this pregnancy.

So far, we've told my parents and sister, and DH's parents and sisters. Everyone else has to wait until after the first doctor's appointment:p

All I've bought so far are a few books on pregnancy and a journal. I've looked at baby clothes a lot, but I'm uninspired to buy yellow and green unisex stuff. I think I'll wait until we find out if it's a boy or a girl. Oh wait, I also bought a cross stitch pattern that has baby animals on it and you can put the baby's name and births stats when it comes. I started it last week.

I bought the book Great Expectations (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0760741328/sr=8-7/qid=1152744702/ref=pd_bbs_7/102-8279432-3341733?ie=UTF8), which also has a "week by week" section, and has a TON of other really good info in there. I'm glad I bought it. I also bought Your Pregnancy Week By Week, which is a decent book, but now that I've bought them both I'm realizing there's a lot of overlap, and I think the Great Expectations book is the better of the two.

So my due date is Feb 24, and I'm guessing I deliver on 3/1 or 3/2. I'd like to follow along with you all, if you don't mind... I'd like to get to know you just in case I end up being a March Mama. You don't need to add me to the roster if you don't want to. :)

OMG NO! I have so many stretchy clothes right now. I have this SUPER cute dress that I bought at Old Navy for my rehersal dinner and never wore. It is the cutest maternity dress even though it's not, just because it's so stretchy. I put it on today and let it all hang out just waiting for the day when I can wear it and not be so shy about how clingy it is. I swear.... if I were 5 months pg I'd have the perfect belly already :) I'm kinda hoping my baby just grows into it and the rest of me stays the same :rolleyes: Wishful thinking.

Shimmerstar - Come on over! We've got quite a few folks who aren't Feb mamas posting in the thread already. :) I think if you're right on the edge, it helps to know both groups. Someone in the Feb thread was saying that they ended up delivering in a month other than their group thread, tried switching to the month their DC was actually born in, and didn't feel "at home" there because she hadn't had the experience of growing through the pregnancy with the other mamas.

The doc told me yesterday that for first pregnancies, the bell curve is shifted forward 4 days, which would put me delivering on 3/1. That's why I hope to get to know you all, in case I'm on the forward half of the bell curve. :)

Miaclear - I too was in maternity pants practically from moment I found out I was pregnant. They are sooooo comfortable -- I dont understand why people want to avoid them!

mochi, i love that baby bag!

MrsHill, good point about joining both mothers' groups. i think it's great you're part of this group :)

i am really looking forward to moving into maternity clothes, too. i gained weight at the start of the year and never "upgraded" my regular clothes, so all my waistbands were already tight :o i am rocking the open top button already.

symptom update: i have lost my appetite and can't decide what to eat. i'm also starting to feel pretty tired. my cramps are still there, too - my friend who's 6 mos along said hers lasted a few weeks.

i'm having a really tough day work-wise and in line to have a rough next few weeks or so. i'm really trying not to let the stress penetrate, but it's hard.

happy thursday, all!

Mrs.Hill, the same thing happened to me. I was due July 13, had my c-section scheduled for July 7, and ended up giving birth on June 23rd. I still hang out with my July moms, though. Even though Sam's bday is way earlier than any of the others, I still feel more at home there.

I guess I probably should make myself known in the Feb. thread, too. My due date is the 9th, so this one might very well be early, too.

mochi, I really like that bag! I was thinking of investing in a really nice bag as well. Especially since I haven't bought a purse since I stopped working 9 months ago (I just use the diaper bag for my things), I really need something new. The one I registered for is just too bulky, and I've been using the bag that we got at the hospital, with the Similac samples! Now that's fashion!

I felt horrible this morning. No appetite, headachey, wanting to go back to bed and hide my head under the blankets. DS Sam was not happy that I was just laying on the couch all morning leaving him to entertain himself. He was hollering and hollering, which didn't make things any easier. He finally laid down for a nap around 12:30, and he's still asleep, 2 hours later! Luckily, I could get a little nap in during that time, too, and I'm feeling better.

Threadmistress - I don't think my stats were added to the first page. I'm back on page 13 with everything. Thanks for updating!

Nanner - glad to hear your nap did the trick and you are feeling better.

Cherry - I'm with you on the stressed at work. I'm going to have a very busy month and on top of that we are moving at the end of the month! No stress around here!!!!!

Threadmistress, my EDD didn't show up on the first page. It's 3-3. I also have some doctor's appts coming up- 8/11 and 8/15. Thanks for all you do.

I have a feeling I will deliver early, because I'm diabetic and that seems to be the trend among us diabetic mommies. I tease my brother that I'm going to have it on 2-27, his birthday, so I can steal his thunder. :)

I'm still having the 3-5 pm morning sickness. But it's not too bad.
Also, I've been waking up at 4am starving and wide-awake. It's so annoying and I usually don't get back to sleep until 6. Then I'm so tired all day but I don't fall asleep for a nap, or when I go to bed.

Ugh....today is the first day I really didn't "feel" pregnant. I didn't have the AF like cramps or the little pinchy cramps. My appetite is fine and my energy level is average. I did feel hot and faint today, but it was like 102 here so that might be why :) I know that so many people have times where they just don't feel pg so I'm not worried about it but man what I'd give for a symptom. I guess my boobs are still big but I'm not as bloated as before. Oh well.

I had a dentist appt today for a cleaning and my hygenest pretty much told the whole office. I have a baby tooth still that they were wanting to take out and put an implant in....not happening now. It started getting a little cavity on it and the dentist said they wouldn't do anything in the first trimester and only if I got a note from my OB would they do it in the 2nd or 3rd. My next cleaning is for January 30th.....I'll be huge I'm sure :)

I wish my appt was sooner than the 31st....seems so long to wait, another week and a half.

Anyone else amazed every time they go to the bathroom that AF still hasn't arrived? I am still going a LOT (no morning sickness, knock on wood) but I think to myself each time - "yep, still pregnant." I'm just weird, aren't I? :)

Energy has been much better this week. My fatigue last week must have been work-related.

I agree with you, miaclear, the 31st seems a loooong way away.

Oh, and we told my parents and my paternal grandmother last Saturday. I fixed up a little baby announcement and stashed it in a market basket of fresh peaches we took to them. Didn't say anything about it...somebody in my family would have to be nosy enough to open it without prompting. My mother did not disappoint and she opened it, looked at it, put it back in the basket, and turned to me and said "Ok." No tears even. I had her share it with my dad and then my Granny. (Granny had a triple bypass and a stroke in April and has been living with my parents since her release from the rehab hospital.) My little brother (15) was unimpressed about becoming an uncle. He's such a boy.

This weekend, we are traveling to Louisiana to tell DH's parents.

miaclear- How funny; I also have a baby tooth still that they're always telling me is "hanging by a thread" and needs to be pulled and replaced with an implant. My mom had one too and she kept it until she was almost 40, so I'm not too worried.

So everyone, please wish me luck- I'm having surgery on Monday:( I was so stupid, but I was using a sharp paring knife to pry open a frozen bagel (pregnancy craving, I think). The knife slipped and I stabbed my right thumb up to the bone and severed a nerve. I have no feeling above the joint on the outside of the palm side of my thumb now. I saw a plastic surgeon today and he's going to try to reattach the nerve. The worst part is that, since I'm pregnant, I'll have to be awake for it:eek:

I totally agree on the bathroom/af thing. I check everytime and am always amazed/relieved when there's nothing there!!! I'm not sure it has quite sunk in yet that I am pg. DH couldn't help himself and told my BIL, my (step)sisters husband. I am really glad because she is the only one I really wanted to tell, so now they both know and are so excited for us. At new years, he toasted for us to have a baby this year, so its nice to share the secret with them. Everyone else will have to wait though. My sister is currently pg with her 4th and is giving me all her books...we are getting together tomorrow so it should be fun. I think she is as excited as I am :D

betsy, you poor thing - good luck with the surgery.

on the bathroom thing, i am doing the exact same thing. i did have quite a bit of spotting today though, which freaked me out. however, it went away, and i still have the other "symptoms" (which may or may not be in my head!): lack of appetite, tiredness (not quite exhausted), the pinching cramps on and off, and being out of breath at weird times. have any of you felt that last one? my friend who's 6 months along told me that was her first symptom. odd.

my first OB appointment (i got a reference from a friend) is on tuesday july 18th.

July 19th: 1st appointment (class/paperwork)
August 22nd: 2nd appointment (meet with dr)

I took my 3rd test yesterday, still pg! I had a First Response box w/three tests so I'm done with the obsessive testing now.

I still check for AF when I go to the bathroom, too! Overall, I still don't feel pregnant. It's weird, like I almost can't wait to feel more symptoms, but we have a long road ahead of us, so there's still plenty of time to feel pregnant!! So far, I'm still just having occasional crampy feelings. I'm hoping I don't grow too much in the next week, I just bought a new dress to wear to a big family party in a week.

I told my parents and my sister today, they were both very excited :) I told them my son, K, is going to be a big brother :) Part of me wants to tell everyone but another part of me wants to wait. We'll probably end up telling people a few at a time.

Betsy: ouchy! sorry about your thumb! my DH did something similar while cutting an avocado, luckily it wasn't too deep of a cut.

Nanner: I just received the diaper bag today, I like it a lot, it's very roomy and lightweight! I have to admit, the free bag at the hospital was actually pretty nice. Wonder what free bag we'll get next year? ;)

I take my PN Vitamins in the morning, but you can't have them with dairy (pharmacist said at least 2hours ~ both can't be in your stomach at the same time) so for breakfast I have been having a piece of whole wheat or multigrain toast with peanut butter.

Did your pharmacist say why you couldn't take your vitamin with milk? I always have cereal for breakfast. :( And I have been taking my vitamins that way the whole time.

PS - I am a scientist, so I can't ever take instructions at face value :) I always have to question "why?".:)

ETA: I have answered my own question. Apparently it interferes with iron and zinc absorption. (I can probably live with that to eat my cereal!)

quick symptoms update - i woke up early today feeling a little nauseous. i'm hoping it's because i didn't really eat enough yesterday (bad me). my boobs were also much sorer. anyway, i got up and started to feel better. then our toilet randomly exploded as i was making breakfast! huge mess in the bathroom and into the hall, my makeup was waterlogged, etc. my husband is out of town, so i had to clean it up before dashing out to work and the plumber is coming tomorrow :rolleyes: anyway, managed to have a healthy enough breakfast of a spinach omelette and fresh-squeezed OJ.

I guess I spoke too soon about not feeling pregnant. I kind of feel like I have a hangover today- sort of dizzy, very tired, and a little nauseous. So, I used my never-fail hangover cure and had a crispy chicken sandwhich combo meal from McDonalds. I literally never eat fast food unless I feel this way, so I don't feel too guilty. But I'm sure it's not the best thing to be eating whie pregnant:o So I ate a bunch of cut up watermelon to try to even things out a little!

I'm trying to eat well, but I'm tired of salads and fruit and veggies just doesn't sound good to me. I've been eating weird things like beef jerky and soup and saltines. Fun story. I had dinner with my friend who I hadn't seen since last month. We were both TTC and talk about a lot of stuff. Tonight first thing she says is "do you have any news" knowing what she was asking but not wanting to tell anyone I said "News?" like I didn't know what she was talking about. She said, pregnancy news and I said, "no I don't, why do you?" and she said "I'm pregnant" at which point I said "I'm pregnant too!" We're due just about a week apart. This is her second although her daughter is almost eight.

Really tired now....ready for bed :)

Same old same old here. Still eating everything in site, but according to another October mom who is nursing and pregnant - she feels the same so I'm a little relieved now. No morning sickness yet, but I had chicken the other night and after a few bites, it just didn't taste good. Had chicken again last night and I was fine, so maybe it's just how it was cooked.

Shimmerstar....I've had pinching cramps but they seem to be more central and all over the place, they also stoped pretty much right before week 5 started (so I only had them for a few days). I've read though that tubal pg pains are a lot worse so hopefully it's nothing but that egg buring deep in. Good luck tomorrow! Welcome Elizabeth and (officially) Mrs.Hill! :)

I had my first bout of real nausea yesterday. We went out for breakfast, and DH and I were going to share a plate of bacon. As soon as the waiter set it down, I looked at DH and said, "I can't eat that." It made me so ill just looking at it. Then I couldn't finish my pancakes. :(

I had this during my last pregnancy, too. I couldn't stand the sight of meat. Deli meats were okay, but fatty meats or meat on a bone...ugh. Couldn't do it. I remember we went to Outback once, and DH got prime rib. I made him hide the fat on a separate plate behind a menu standing up!

Hope you all have a good day! I'm going antiquing with my sister today. It's been a while since just she and I have done something together, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Hey Ladies!

This is my first post over here, but I was a regular over at WC. I'm so excited to have found this board and to be able go through this incredible experience with other women who are all due around the same time.

Btw, I'm due 3/7 with my first baby! It's been a pretty eventful pregnancy so far. The day after I found out I was pregnant, I ended up in the ER with Gastritis and then the week after that I was in a car accident (not my fault) that totaled both cars. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything is okay. The doctor said as long as I'm not spotting and don't have any cramps, then the baby should be fine.

I haven't had morning sickness so far which is shocking to me. Everyone in my family has had it pretty bad and we all have weak stomachs. Although I've had those pinching cramps on my left side that Shimmerstar mentioned. My doc said to expect that. It's your ligaments stretching. Other than that, I'm extremely tired and my chest is really sore, especially in the morning.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome!!

I have been experiencing morning sickness for the past three weeks. It isn't much fun and believe me I won't wish it on my worst enemy. The only time I don't feel sick is when I am eating and as soon as I am done it is back. My doctor ended up giving me a prenatal pill that has a anti-nasuea medicine in it and it seems to be helping!! If anyone is interested I can share the drug name. The only other side effects I have noticed are how tired I am and the vertigo I get sometimes walking into different rooms.

I have only told a select few so far that we are expecting. A co-worker is due two weeks before me which is pretty cool as I have someone around to ask questions. I haven't told anyone else in the office and I doubt I will until 10+ weeks as this is my first. DH told his mother yesterday and she was really excited. It is their 1st grandkid and they are pumped about it!! We told them they need to keep it a secret for quite sometime now. I don't know when we will tell my folks as I know my mom can't keep a secret!!

Welcome, tipsy! Glad to have you!

So is anyone else feeling sick this lovely Monday morning??

I'm actually feeling pretty good today. So far, my off days have just been occasional. My doc says that if I'm going to get full blown morning sickness, it should show up by week 7 or so. If I can get past that, she said I'll more than likely be okay. Come on, week 7!

We were discussing this weekend how in the world we're going to fit two children into this house. We have an 1100 sf ranch house, with three bedrooms. One is ours, another is Sam's, and the 3rd is an office. I guess we'll have to convert the office into a nursery-slash-office. The rooms are very small, and I don't think both kids will fit into the one room, WITH a changing table and shelves to put the toys on. We'll be doing a stint in Singapore in a couple of years (DH's job), so when we come back, we'll be able to buy a bigger home. Can't wait for that!

welcome, tipsy and peewee!

nanner, we've been asking ourselves the same question. if all goes well and we have a baby in our arms next march, i think my husband will rent office space nearby (currently, he primarily works from home). we have a two-bedroom house which we LOVE but which is pretty tiny. we rent due to the cost of owning in our area, but would love to buy - oh the plans i have for this place if we ever own it! by the way, singapore sounds awesome - how cool you get to live there temporarily. with two little ones no less!

in terms of symptoms, i had some tiredness (just a bit) this weekend, and my chest has been sore/ tender when i wake up. my appetite is still a little funky, but i've been eating healthily and drinking lots of water. also still a bit constipated. it is early days for me, though (i am only 5 weeks today).

ladies, i almost hate to bring this paranoia up here, but i have been fearful of a miscarriage since last night. i still have a bit of brown spotting (light, occasional) but this morning had a little more than before along with very, very light cramping. both symptoms have now gone away, but i'm afraid. :( i've read like every CC thread there is on this and usually, brown spotting is nothing but occasionally it's bad news. i think i will call my doctor when his office opens (or try to hold out until my first appt, which is tomorrow).

sorry for the downer. happy monday all and i hope you have a healthy day.

Well, if you can't bring it up here, where can you? We're here for you, cherry. If you feel like talking to your doctor will make you feel better, or even just more informed, definitely call him. That's what he's there for! I'm sure he's used to concerns like this. Regardless, he can take a look tomorrow and then you'll know for sure, right?

I'll be praying for you and your family. Take care of yourself.

Shimmerstar: Any word from your doc yet on the pinching pain?

Thanks for asking. I called this morning and the nurse just called me back. My doctor is on vacation, so she's going to talk with the on-call doc and see what they say. I couldn't read her at all. She asked me a few questions and said she will let me know. I really just want them to give me an ultrasound. I think it will alleviate a lot of my fears, or let me know if something's wrong.

I've felt crappy this morning, but I think it's nerves. I about had a heart attack when the phone rang, then I was really out of breath.

Cherry, call your doc and let us know what they say! It will probably make you feel a lot better.

I am the grumpiest woman alive today, and it is so unlike me. Crazy hormones! Everything I encounter today is making me grumpy. A person talks to me, I am grumpy. I have to do something, I get grumpy. I have to eat, that makes me grumpy. I feel like an awful person, but I just can't seem to snap out of it! I am trying to get through a work day and not snap at anyone. Wish me luck!!!

Cherry I hope everything turns out ok for you which I'm sure it will! I would call the dr. - if for nothing else than peace of mind and just to let him know. I'd say since your symptoms have gone away and the cramping has not increased, you're safe.

Shimmerstar Your pain sounds kinda like round ligament pain (totally normal btw). Hopefully they will give you an u/s just to ease your mind (and see your little one)

Welcome Tipsy

We were discussing this weekend how in the world we're going to fit two children into this house. We have an 1100 sf ranch house, with three bedrooms. One is ours, another is Sam's, and the 3rd is an office. I guess we'll have to convert the office into a nursery-slash-office. The rooms are very small, and I don't think both kids will fit into the one room, WITH a changing table and shelves to put the toys on. We'll be doing a stint in Singapore in a couple of years (DH's job), so when we come back, we'll be able to buy a bigger home.

This is our problem too. We have 1200 total sq feet, but a lot of that is the unfinished basement and we only have 2 bedrooms. We are hoping to move by the time this one comes or shortly after, but who knows. Dh has started on his training for a promotion which will nearly double his salary. The minimum is 5 months, but realistically it will probably take longer due to other things getting in his way at work. And then probably another month or two to for a position to open that he can apply for. I'm stressed just thinking about it! We will most likely have to move out of the area, and possibly even out of state, so I really hope we are moved by the time this one comes. At least his company does pay a good portion of moving expenses so that is one relief. If we are not moved by the time the baby comes, then we'll get a co-sleeper and the baby will sleep there. We could make room in Daytona's room for another crib, but she's such a light sleeper it's really not an option. There's no room in our bedroom either for a PnP or crib either, so I think a co sleeper will be our best bet until we can get moved.

Yesterday I was soooo tired! I kept dd up until 9:30 instead of her usual bedtime of 7:30 because her naps were screwed up and I wanted to see if she would sleep later. She only slept an extra 30 min, so that pretty much backfired. I ended up taking 3 naps yesterday - everytime she went down for a nap, I did too! Dh was home so he was able to get her for the last nap, and I kept on sleeping. Our house was a total disaster due to a hectic week, and he picked up the entire house, cleaned the kitchen, and even did some of the laundry.:D I was shocked, and felt a little bad that I slept all day while he worked on the house, but he said not to worry about it. I plan on making it up to him by folding and putting the laundry away, and actually cleaning the house. (he says he cleans, but really he just picks up all the clutter)

Hee hee! Last night my poor dh was picking out his work clothes and I heard him say "oh, this will be a fun shirt". Almost ALL of his work shirts were dirty until today, and the other day he was wearing dress socks because he didn't have any others. If I'm home all day, at least I could do a load of laundry, right? :p

Still waiting for the nurse's call. Doesn't she know she's making me nuts? I think she's probably at lunch now, so I'm off to occupy myself.

you guys, thanks so much for being so nice and concerned. my husband has been very reassuring also, but he's out of town for work (has been since before we found out and won't be back for another 2 weeks... worst.timing.ever) and so i really appreciate the support! i called my doctor and he said it sounds like implantation spotting; even bright red blood is apparently normal with that (which i don't have). he did say if it was "the big m", it would be accompanied by very painful cramps. the spotting hasn't come back yet this morning, although it's been on and off for the past week, so fingers crossed. i'm not ruling out my taking another test to reassure myself, though :o

thanks again ladies.

stacielady, i have been kind of cranky lately too - the queen of mood swings. i realized this morning with this whole episode that i am way more emotional than usual (surprise, surprise).

shimmerstar, i empathize with what you're going through. by the way, i've occasionally been out-of-breath too and all my pregnant friends say this is very typical of early pregnancy, so maybe that's a good sign. i hear you on wanting the ultrasound to allay your fears - i really hope i get one during my first appointment tomorrow. hang in there.

by the way, my sentimental husband has already bought two baby toys even though i told him not to! anyone else have a big softie on their hands?

by the way, my sentimental husband has already bought two baby toys even though i told him not to! anyone else have a big softie on their hands?

No, but mine is WAY overprotective! My dad was smoking outside, away from me (I couldn't even smell it) and dh wanted me to go inside. Then, at Olive Garden, I said I wanted cheese on my salad, and dh was like "WHAT KIND OF CHEESE IS THAT?" Later, when I wanted cheese on my entree, he asked "is that the same kind of cheese as before?"

At least he cares, LOL.

We told everyone not to buy anything yet, but MIL already bought me a maternity shirt that says "Baby Rocks" on it. My mom wanted to buy me one that said "wildcat inside" at the mall yesterday. I don't think it's going to matter that I don't like shirts with writing on them. My belly's going to be a walking billboard. I shudder to think of what my fashion-weird aunt is going to get for me.

At least we are not the only ones that will have to do some rearranging when it comes to the new delivery. We have about 1100 sq ft (3bedrooms) -> 1 is ours, the 2nd is a small office -> soon to be nursery & the 3rd is our spare room (as in-laws are from out of town that really needs to stay as is) + we are going to move the office into that closet.

Shimmerstar: As for the "Wildcat Inside" that it too precious. I actually went to school in Lexington the year they won the title in 1996. It was crazy and for sure something I will not soon forget!!

Ugh - My DD had the flu over the weekend and passed it along to me. I spent all day yesterday throwing up. I know it wasn't m/s but it does remind me what may be coming in the future. I was really lucky with #1 and didn't get sick, but we'll see with this one. I am definitely more sensitive to smell this time around.

Cherry - I hope everything is ok. It sounds like the spotting and cramping have gone away - I hope it stays that way!

Did I tell you guys we are moving in 2 weeks. We are going to be really stressed, but so glad we are getting it done now. The new house needs to be completely remodeled, so we'll see how that goes over the next few months.

cherry
07-17-2006, 02:36 PM
brink, thanks for the concern. the cramping has gone away (it was pretty light anyway) and the spotting is pretty much gone too - i think (hope) i was just over-reacting. it's just a reminder to me to slow down and also, as my mother said, not be too "intense" about these things. you poor thing with the stomach bug - that's all you need. hope you have a chance for some extra rest to recover today/ tonight.

and good luck with the move - it's so soon! can you hold on the remodelling until you're out of the first trimester?

Cherry - good to hear that you're feeling better!
Shimmer - hopefully the pinching has subsided.

I had a little scare last night, too. My DS (2 years old) can sometimes be a little rough, and before I was pregnant he would unexpectedly "pounce" on me. Now that I'm pg, I've been trying to control this and have been extra protective of my tummy area. Last night, he was climbing over me, and his elbow lightly dug into my belly, it wasn't even with much force, but shortly after, I felt crampy. I was so scared! I just sat back and tried to relax. Then the pain turned sharp, but after a few minutes I realized I was having major gas pain. Why? Because a few minutes prior I had just finished snacking on broccoli and baby carrots (trying to increase my veggie intake), and as we all know, broccoli is a very gassy food! So after a trip to the bathrom :o , I was feeling much better. Pheew.

I'm still feeling fairly normal, except, since this is my second pg, my tummy seems to already be feeling prego and my bb's are still sore. No nausea, yet.

Kanga - ditto on the house situation, except my hubby didn't help me clean. I'm a SAHM, but I've been boycotting cleaning for awhile, because it just seemed to be of no use! I finally couldn't stand it anymore so picked up a few things. I was away all weekend with my parents, DH was home all alone (quite a luxury I wish I had sometimes). I come home only to find out hubby did NOTHING around the house. We'd been trying to clean up our office so my telecommuting hubby can actually work in his office instead of our dining table :mad: . We had a few old books and things cleared out and in boxes in the living room ready to store or donate, for the past 3 WEEKS. Finally, I got sick of looking at them, so moved everything back into the office. Seeing that DH did not make any effort to work on the office while we were out of his way for two whole days, I don't see him ever doing it, so I think I'm officially abandoning the office project. He has no motivation whatsoever. So frustrating! Sorry, I kind of went off there! Thanks for letting me vent!

mochi, how scary! But a little funny, too? :o I'm glad everything is okay.

Kanga and mochi, I so hear you on the housework. I haven't done any real cleaning since finding out I was pg. I've barely even picked anything up! Sam has been getting into everything, and I just think to myself, "He's just going to pull it all out again. Why put it away?" Only thing I've really kept up on is the dishes, because dirty dishes gross me out.

Feeling like a little piece of hell today, ladies. DH even offered to stay home while I rest today, but that's just dumb. He's going to need his days off later.

QOTD: Have you and your DH discussed whether to find out the sex or not? We are at a standstill over it. We waited for the surprise for our first one at DH's request, and he wants to do that again. But I really want to find out this time. So we'll see who gets their way!

QOTD: Have you and your DH discussed whether to find out the sex or not?

We discussed this when dating. He said he could not live with me if I did not know the sex. He is right. I would drive him crazy trying to plan.

I have a question for everyone: Who have you told so far? If no one then when are you planning to tell?

I am so glad to see we are not the only ones in a small house. I am an officer in the Army so we live on post- We are turning our office into the nursery. It is so small. 2 walls have windows. We will only be in the house a little over a year after DD so I am trying to deal with it. There are so many issues with the house that bother me now that I am PG. No cabinets under sinks. The bottom of the stairs has not way to put a baby gate up. We would have to gate at stair # 2. No tub - yep just a shower arg...sorry to vent I just started noticing things in a different light this am.

I too am being paranoid about MC. My job makes me very active- when running this am I started wondering what am I doing to my child. Most of my friend ran until the day they delivered but I get freaked by every sensation.

Mochi- Thanks for making me get a giggle in this am!! That would so be me and I totally envisioned it as me. Glad everything is ok!

shimmerstar

Mochi, I'm glad you figured out the problem!

Brink, hope you're feeling better soon.

QOTD- We are definitely finding out the sex. I'm not into surprises. If I could do it today, I would. I've already been taking gender prediction quizzes, but I can't answer all the questions yet so they are telling me both.

Waiting for yet another call from the doctor. They called at 5pm yesterday and told me they wanted to do a blood test, so I had to go to the hospital and do it. If the blood test results are too high they are going to do a sonogram. That made me more worried than anything. I was pretty much convinced I was being crazy, but then if they believe me I freak.

Although I would love a sono, I would not love the extra worry that it would cause for me. So hopefully they will call soon and release me. I think they only call at 11 and 5, so I've got a few hours. It sucks, because if they would have told me to get the blood drawn at 3, they would have been able to give me the results last night. Argh.

QOTD: Have you and your DH discussed whether to find out the sex or not?

We aren't sure. We left DS as a surprise, but this time it's more difficult. There are several decisions that will be more dependent on if it's a girl or boy. Like room arrangements. But that said, it was cool not knowing until he was born. VERY cool. Of course, I thought all along he was a boy. This one isn't coughing up too much info yet. Although I have been craving Oreo cookie cereal and frosted Cheerios like a madwoman. I had almost NO cravings with my son. So maybe a girl??

Who have we told? Almost everyone. We aren't too scared knowing we had an uneventful first pregnancy. I still have a few friends to tell. Of course, I don't work, so that makes it easier.

Welcome llband Amber!

Shimmerstar - Try to stay calm! I'm rooting for ya!

Cherry - Everything I've heard says that light spotting is nothing to worry about. You have my sympathies re: your DH being gone! Not good timing is right! I'd be going nutso! If you need to take another test to reassure yourself; take another test! No :o -faces necessary!

Re: Gender
We've decided not to find out the gender. We like the suspense, we've already chosen a gender neutral theme for the baby's room (farm animals), and we don't want a bunch of gendered clothes from family. None of my cousins have found out their babies' gender either, so it just seems to be SOP not to find out in my family.

Re: Telling
We told B's mom and my parents right away after we found out. I told a couple of close friends, and we happened to see B's brother while we were over visiting his mom a couple of weeks later so we told him too. Other than that, we waited until last Wednesday, when we saw the heartbeat, to open the floodgates.

Typing with 1 hand here, so bear with the type-os!

I had my surgery yesterday afternoon and it was pretty uneventful. My thumb in't even that sore and I didn't evenneed to take any pain killers or anything. I just hope the surgery worked, but it'll take up to 6 months to find out.

Anyway... We are finding out the sex. I'd love to be able to wait and be surprised, but I have a very strong preference for a girl and I'd rather find out if it's a boy and get used to the idea in advance. DH knows I feel this way and agrees that we should find out. I wuld like to be surprised with #2 though.

We also live in a tiny house- it's 1000sqft with just 2 bedrooms. We're going to have to change the office/spare bedroom into a nursery, but I'm not surewhat we'll do with our desk, bed and other stuff in that room:confused: Oh wel, i'm sure we'll figure it all out!

And welcome to LLB and Amber!!

Telling: Only a limited few so far as we want to wait till around 10-12 weeks to tell everyone. DH parents and sister know, but have been told not to spread the news. My folks have to wait a bit more to as I know my mom can't keep a secret!! Other than that just a few close friends know as of yet.

They FINALLY called, after I called them and my husband called them to tell them I was freaking out. My levels were above 3,000, which I thought was something bad, but it's not. That just means they can probably see something on the US that I'm getting tomorrow morning. I don't know how I can wait that long. I am terrified.

I haven't felt that pain for three days and now I feel like I was being stupid about it anyway. Hopefully it will just show that everything's okay so I can finally relax! I feel like this is a lost week.

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies.

QOTD: Did you wait for a confirmation with a blood test to tell anyone or did you tell right away after a urine test?

I'm very mixed on what I should do, this is only the 2nd place aside from my journal that I posted that I am PG, and I'm going through the "what ifs" of it being a "chemical" pregnancy or maybe I'm just dreaming or something. I just have the fear of having to recall the joyous news. So should I wait to confirm it with a blood test?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm hoping to get in with my primary tomorrrow (I have to do a same day appointment, so call in the morning to get one) to do a test and since I've already done 2 at home pregnancy tests I really dont think another one is necessary and will request a blood test. Then will have her refer me to a
OB-GYN and wont have to necessarily go through the trail and error process in regards to their qualifications and creadability.
This is all just so fresh and new and confusing to me, I'll be honest, I'm going to be a first time mother and starting to freak out as to whether I'm going to make a good mommy, will I get everything done that I need to, will I be in the right hands in regards to medical care, how do I tell family that live afar (primarly our parents both live over 6 hours away). I just dont know, the more I think about this the more logistics I realize have to start to take place. Is this all normal. I'm going crazy.
:( it looks like i am going to need to drop out of this group ladies, although i'd really like to stay! i had my appointment this morning and all went well until the ultrasound - the doctor couldn't find the sac. this of course either means that it's too early (which shouldn't be it - i should be a little over 5 weeks by now), or much more likely that i had a miscarriage, probably at around 3.5 weeks. the nurse took a sample and they will check my betas, and i'm going in again on thursday to see if they have risen.
naturally i am really bummed, as is my husband. i know we shouldn't have gotten so excited/ invested - this is my first after pregnancy after all - but we did. having said that, i was actually freaking out more yesterday that i sorta let on in my posts and had started to prepare myself for bad news, so it could have been worse.
i'll keep you guys posted - i had taken another test last night (apparently i'm addicted to those little digital thingies) and it was positive, and i woke up again today with a sore chest, but let's face it, it doesn't look good.
shimmerstar, best of luck tomorrow! i'll be thinking about you. whitlockan and LLB0526, congratulations!
QOTD - We will definitely find out the sex. I just can't wait that long and I love to plan everything out. We found out with our DD and liked it that way. The only thing we kept as a surprise was her name. We didn't tell anyone until after she was born. That made it a little fun.
I still don't have ANY symptoms of pg. I didn't have m/s last time, but I think at this point I at least had sore bb's. Now with Cherry getting her bad news, I'm worrried until my appointment. Which, by the way, is not until August 3rd.
Cherry... I'm so sorry. I hope you get a final answer soon enough so you can have some closure. My thoughts are with you.
Welcome LLB & Amber! Two newbies in one day. Pretty soon the April thread will open up, hard to believe.
Myself...after an emotional rollercoaster ride yesterday I decided I'd take MS any day over that again. Granted my MS has been fairly infrequent and calm ;) I hate feeling like I'm under appreciated, fat, my husband doesn't love me, that I'm going to be a terrible mother, that my pregnancy/baby won't be healthy. With all that coming down on me between the hours of 6pm and 11pm last night I'd much rather have a queasy tummy.
Sex... DH wanted to find out. I didn't. But now that we're pg I'm very curious. I know it could be tough but if we do find out the sex I want to keep it a secret. Still do the gender neutral nursery and give the baby a in-utero nickname that wouldn't give it away. We'll see....still a long way off till we even have to make up our minds.
Who we're telling...I've told two friends who are also pg and that's it. I really don't want to tell anyone till my first appt (although there are some events inbetween now and then that likely some people will guess). And I'd prefer to wait till 12 weeks. Although I'm REALLY excited to tell people. If we can get to 8 weeks I'll feel good. Tomorrow is the start of week 6 for me.
Interesting tid-bit I learned....on the internet (keeping that in mind). You are MORE likely to get toxoplasmosis from eating fast food hamburgers than from your cat. Bummer...cause I was planning on living on those throughout my pregnancy :( for anyone interested (http://www.sniksnak.com/cathealth/toxoplasmosis.html)
Cherry, (((HUGS))) I am so sorry!
Welcome LLB & Amber
Sex - we both want to be surprised :D
Who we've told - My sister and BIL, and my sisters step daughter/ our niece who's nickname is snoopy (she has a tendency for eavesdropping) but we really don't mind and she is so happy for us. Ironically she can keep a secret. I've also told one friend who actually started as just an online friend and we were ttc at the same time, but we live in the same town and have since become real friends. Everyone else will have to wait until pretty close to 12 weeks.
Me - I now have sore boobs, and am still so tired. I actually had to come home for a nap in the middle of the afternoon! I didn't feel yucky at all today though, and was really hungry for a change.
I also worry about the "what if's" but I'm trying really hard not to think too much about it.
Tonight DH and I went for a walk. I knew it probably wasn't a good idea since it was 104 out today but we waited till 7:30 and just walked a little over a mile (20 minutes). About halfway through I was ready to come home. By the time I got home I was a little lightheaded and my blood was just pumping something fierce. I drank some water and rested and feel completely fine now. Never again ....till September at least!
Question though. I'm supposed to be going to a concert August 4th. It's an oudoor arena and there's a chance it could be 100+, given Texas...a really good chance. Obviously I wouldn't be doing anything but sitting there enjoying some Tom Petty but I'd hate to be just miserable. Fortunatly I see my Dr on July 31st so I can ask her her thoughts but I'm just curious what you all would do.
Hi Everyone. I think I will be joining you all here for the next 8+ months. I just got a positive hpt this morning (although it was very faint) and I have a drs. appt. this morning in a few hours to confirm and check my hcg numbers. If all goes well, I am due March 29th. I am beyond nervous though. I had a m/c in April and now I am feeling so cautious and not as excited as I was the last time. I will be a bit more relaxed once I get a confirmation (blood test) that I am for sure pg. and once I see my hcg numbers go up. Once I get past the 6 week mark I will also feel better, as that is how far along I was when I had my m/c. Anyway, I hope that I will be joining you all here. Keep your fingers crossed for me that everything goes smoothly. :)
Danalou, that is totally normal, especially in the first trimester. I think (although I didn't make it beyond the 1st trimester last time) that it goes away during the second trimester. I was on wc back a few years ago before my wedding, 8/1/2004, but have not been on there since. Have you been on this site long, because I used to be in the December, 2006 thread before my m/c and then I was on (still on) the TTC thread and m/c thread.
Cherry, I am terribly sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it is.
