What are your favorite things to give to people who are are about to move a great distance or already live in another country? I'm at the age where everyone seems to be moving constantly so I'm very interested in fun gift ideas for people like that :)

When picking out gifts for my friends who have come "home" for Christmas, and will then be leaving again to their homes, I often try to choose something you can "consume" right away and don't have to move with you - i.e. food, vine, bath bombs etc. That way they won't have to drag whatever I give them across the world, but would love any other ideas :) This is what I've thought of so far

DVDs, CDs, computer games
Small personal items, such as wallets, key-chains, belts, scarfs, etc
Jewellery
Food or wine
Perfume/aftershave?
A web cam, to make sure they stay in contact with you ;) (Or a mike, digital camera or other such stuff)
Gift certificates - either for an online store or a chain that has branches both where you and your friend live.
?

Please add your ideas :)

(OK, I'll confess - This is not just a general inquiry. My husband's birthday is the day after tomorrow and I'm stumped. We're moving to London next month so I'm hesitant to buy something large but can't seem to think of anything smallish that's cool enough. *groans* Most technical gizmo would be cheaper to buy once we're there. We won't be taking all of our stuff with us since we'll only be there for a year, so anything that doesn't count as a 'necessity' is pretty much out of the picture...ugh. Help?)

1. A book (or audio book) for the trip

2. If it wasn't someone so close, I would have also suggested air mail stamps.

3. I know amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/subst/gifts/gift-certificates/gift-certificates.html/ref=cs_gc_h_3_2/026-9446631-3694800) delivers internationally. I would LOVE to recieve a gift certificate from there!

4. Cuff-links

6. Luggage - he can use it in the move!

Good luck! Let us know what you decide on!
