nuhmah: How are you feeling today? Any contrax?
rande: What about you?
Sleep: This makes 2 days in a row I'm up too early. :p I sometimes wake up around 2 or 3 to pee, but the past couple days it's held off till 4:30 or 5 and then I can't go back to sleep. I didn't have a nap yesterday. I'm going to try to make sure I get one today.
Parenting Book Reccs: I started a new thread, which Liz had mentioned doing this weekend, but we know she's preoccupied. ;) I added a post for Parenting Books. Please recommend any you like or, for you ROs, have found helpful in the past.

Linny CUTE belly! :)
sleep This has become a serious issue and it's driving me nuts! I was up last night from about 1:30-3:30am and tried to sleep late this morning but now am wide-awake (but exhausted) again. It's so weird! I really want to be rested when I go into labor, but it's looking like I may not be... I did use the time to start playing around with a birth announcement design, so it looks like I'll be going that route after all! As I mentioned before, I'm really picky about presentation, so of course my weekend will be spent making test prints and figuring out the best way to print these without creating a ton of work for me once the baby is born. Someone mentioned Kinko's and I may try them, however I have had a lot of bad experiences with them in the past so I'm a little gun-shy. This was before FedEx bought them, so perhaps they're better now. Maybe I'll test them out as well. Clearly I need a project to keep me busy! :)

sleep - I had a horrible time last night. It all started with someone calling at 1:30 in the morning. That set me up for just a bad, bad night. :(
I'm here....subscribing to the beautiful new thread. Thanks Sophia!!!
I'm excited to hear from rande and nuhmah today.
Nothing much to report here. Just hanging out with the dogs and missing my hubby who is on a fishing trip till Monday evening. I'm glad I'm not having any contractions since he's 3 hours away!!
Sleep--I am really tired in the evenings (fell asleep on the couch at 9:15). Then I'm awake hourly from midnight till 5 am or so. But then I sleep SOUNDLY till about 9:30 in the morning. Makes no sense.
Books--I'm currently reading Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. So far I really buy into what Weissbluth says... Can't wait to hear more recs on parenting books!!
Hope you girls did not forget about me!!
Drum roll please!!!!:D :D

I went in on tuesday evening at 6 was give some meds. to soften the cervex
that was in for 12 hours so by 7am the next day I was put on Patocin.
my water was ruptured at about 12, and that is when to contraction started
I got to 2 cm before the epi was admin and he was at +2 and when they checked after the epi I was at 4 cm. by 7:30 the DR came in and checked me again and I was 9 and a bit more so she said lets do a few practice pushes and see and he was here at 7:58, I did tear but so far it's been ok. I'm a bit sore but the ibuprofine has been working!!
Congrats klav! Liam is gorgeous!!!
Sounds like things went smoothly for you. Yay!!

Congratulations Klav!! Liam is beautiful :) I'm so happy to hear that everything went well for you guys.
Thank goodness I'm about to pop, because otherwise I would SOOOO be jonesing for a baby just looking at all of these beautiful pictures!
Books - I've been reading Weissbluth's book for a while now at my friend's recommendation. She said he's definitely right on about so many things-- including sleep/feeding cues, overtiredness, and self-soothing. I've been trying to get my DH to read it too. I know we have to be on this sleep thing together!
Sleep -I slept decent last night considering I was cramping all night long-- but I did wake up @ 5 and just lay there for a while. Too many things going on in my mind, I guess. I think what really throws me off is the super vivid dreams I've been having-- I don't feel rested after I have them.
mkvh - I'm still shocked that you let your hubby go on a fishing trip! What a nice wife you are!! Hopefully nothing too exciting happens in the next 2 days.
I'm currently downloading songs to put onto my ipod for labor music. I have such a crazy mix of stuff! I finally broke down and bought a portable speaker system yesterday (figured I could use it in the baby's room too). So far I'm very impressed with it!
My next task is to go clean house-- hopefully for the last time before Braeden arrives! After that I have to go get ready for a wedding we are going to tonight. Can you tell I'm trying to keep myself busy??
Hope to hear some news on Nuhmah and Rande soon!

Well, I have nothing new to report. :( Kind of sad, kind of not. I had some pretty nasty contractions last night, but I slept fairly well. I was really suprised by that. I am still having some really small/minor contractions, but nothing like last night.

Congratulations, Klav!
Sleep: I woke up just about once an hour last night. No idea why. I got up to pee probably 3 or 4 times, but the other times I was just awake for no reason. A lot of groaning and rolling myself over. I don't think I was having any contractions.
Still really cranky today. Ticked at DH. He refuses to pack his freaking hospital bag. I've tried not to nag about it, but I've brought it up once a week or so over the past few weeks. He claims he'll "have it packed in no time". Apparently he plans to start that when I tell him it's time to leave for the hospital. I tried explaining to him that his procrastination makes me feel like he's not taking this seriously, but he still doesn't get it.
And it's not just the bag -- Every time I ask him to finish some project that he promised to do before the baby arrives, he responds, "Well, she's not coming TOMORROW." Um, actually, maybe she is. You don't know that. He hasn't bothered to figure out how to install the carseat in his own car (it has a shoulder belt in the middle) and he laughed when I suggested that we take both our cars in to have the installation inspected. He said no one in his family has ever done that and he thinks it's a silly thing to do. Well, sweetie, your mother wants to put infants in booster seats and your brother doesn't even make sure the d*mn things don't slide around, so maybe they should go for an inspection, too!
He wants us to go out to a friend's house tomorrow night (in the middle of nowhere) to shoot off fireworks. I told him we needed to take our bags with us, just in case, and he thought that was silly because "you're supposed to wait until you've been in labor for a couple of hours before you go to the hospital, anyway." Um, no, not exactly. If I wait until the contractions have been 5 minutes apart for at least an hour and THEN we drive home to get our bags and THEN we leave for the hospital, I will have been in definite labor for about 3 hours at that point. And I wasn't really planning on spending that much time in the car while in labor!
I am probably overreacting, but I feel like he should be more sensitive to my anxiety about this whole labor and birth process, and instead he's being an a**.

Okay, the absolute weirdest thing just happened:
DH was organizing his side of the closet (a vital pre-baby task, right? ) and I was hanging out on our bed talking to him and keeping him company. (Okay, honestly, I was feeling starved for attention and was probably bugging him.) I was just acting really goofy and singing along with the radio and stuff. Feeling pretty good. Needy, but good. So then he finished with the closet and we decided we were going to DTD. Except something struck me as really funny and I started laughing. A LOT. I laughed so hard and so long that tears were streaming down my face. My abdomen hurt from laughing, but I could not stop. And just when I thought I was about to get it under control, I started REALLY crying. Not laughing crying, but sobbing. Out of no where and over nothing in particular. And I couldn't stop that, either.
Finally, I guess I managed to empty out all my emotional reserves. I got up to wash my face, and when I came back, DH had apparently lost interest in DTD (can't really blame him). He started falling asleep, so I got up and got some ice cream.
And now here I am, feeling normal again.
What the HECK was THAT?!?

Hormones. Aren't they fun?
It was actually a little bit frightening! I know I have been generally cranky lately, but I have never experienced anything like THAT before!
ETA: And I ate waaaaaaaaaaaay too much ice cream. Ugh.
Sophia
07-01-2006, 06:25 PM
Yeah, I guess it can be pretty freaky if it's never happened to you before. It's not that things like that happen to me all the time, but I have occasionally had that happen. I think what it is is that you have all these emotions anyway, because you're pregnant and have so much on your mind, and your hormones are all over the place, so when you have one emotional release, like laughing, it sets off other emotional releases, sort of like a domino effect. I usually just go with it when it happens because I know I'll feel better afterwards, and I usually have this weird thing where I'm crying or laughing really hard, but another part of me is thinking, uh, why am I laughing? Or why am I crying? Like I'm trying to tell myself, hey, it's not that funny, or there's nothing to be so upset about. In a way, it's a lot like what I think a toddler tantrum must be--a really low threshold for emotional stimulus follwed by an over the top reaction to the stimulus.
I hope you're feeling better now.

Hi ladies, I have a free moment so I wanted to check in. Dorla's still in NICU, but she'll be released tomorrow. We still really don't know what caused her breathing issue, except that her lungs were cloudy on the chest X-ray. She's breathing totally fine now. They've got her on 48 hours of antibiotics as a precaution, so that won't run out until tomorrow morning. We're being released tonight, but luckily the NICU has a "transition room" which is kind of like a little hotel room. She'll room in with us tonight but will still be on monitors and the nurses will still keep an eye out. I really can't say enough about this hospital, they're all so wonderful.
Just a quick and dirty birth story.... started having contrax 5 mins apart at 3:30 AM Thursday. Called the OB at 7 AM, she said to go ahead and go into the hospital since they were consistent and strong. Got sent home from the hospital around noon since I wasn't dialating past 2 cm. We did some walking, contrax got worse and we went back about 4:00. I was 3 cm so they admitted me, my water was bulging so they went ahead and broke it around 5 PM. Things got fast after that - I tried to go without pain meds but just couldn't handle it, so I got an epi around 7 PM. Right after they did the epi they did a check and I was 8 cm already. By 10 PM I was 10 CM and she was super low. The doc originally thought she'd be out in just a couple pushes, but it turned out she was sunny side up. We got that fixed (holy crap, that's an experience), and she was born at 11:50 PM. :D So labor was about 21 hours.
Breastfeeding is going as well as can be expected... she latches on pretty well and I've been pumping the times that she won't latch. I actually got enough colostrum while pumping this afternoon to put in a syringe, so we're gonna give her that in a little bit. :)
I'm a pretty, uh, mellow person I guess... I'm not easily excitable, I'm fairly even-keeled, etc. This has just been the most amazing experience of my life. The pain is so secondary when you look at your baby. DH is just as amazed by it all. Oh, and a while back I had posted that DH was so scared of being in the delivery room, because he has a low tolerance for blood and other things.... he held my leg and every time the doctor had me look in the mirror to see her crowning, he was looking as well. He was so supportive and wonderful, and it just makes me teary seeing him hold his baby girl.
You might be wondering what the name Dorla is.... yeah, it's old-fashioned. :) It's a name we've kicked around for a while, for many reasons. We'll probably call her Dori - her grandma's been calling her that all weekend and it's sticking to her. :)
OK, gotta go check out and head to our sweet baby girl downstairs. Will post pics once we get home and settled. Gotta love this hospital internet!!
Shelby--I honestly don't think they CAN feel the same sense of urgency as we do...I think OURS is somehow instinctive. They ain't got it! As for the laughing/crying jag, oh, I hear you! I've been pretty even lately, but I went for weeks where that's how I felt. Can't wait for post-partum hormones!
Liz--so glad to hear that Dorla is doing well and to get some quick and dirty details on your labor. Looks like she's going to get to wear the cute July 4th outfit after all!

Just a quick post:
Things have been hectic here. On Wednesday my milk came in and I got terribly sore tried to relieve it with a hot shower as instructed and I got more swollen and then baby Jacob could not nurse from my left breast so we had to get a breast pump to correct this. Thought that things were going well but went to the Dr. today and he still hadn't gained weight and was jaundice so now he has been wrapped in a Billy Blanket.
Tommorrow he will go to the ER for another billirubin check.
Thinking of you, sunchaser! Hang in there with BF...I'm sure Jacob's jaundice will resolve quickly. {{{HUGS}}}
ShelbyMay

sunchaser: My nephew had to have the bili-blanket and recovered from the jaundice just fine. It is kind of funny looking back at those early pictures now because he looked like a little glowing "E.T." baby. ;)

Liz: How great that Dorla is doing better and will be home soon! How nice your hospital has internet access. :)
sunchaser: I hope Jacob's bilirubin levels are good tomorrow and that your breast feels better.

So much for my perkiness and energy yesterday. Even though I had a nap today, I've been cranky and my ankles have swelled up a bit. DH went to Dairy Queen for me (Dilly Bar). I have such a bad sweet tooth lately.

Shelby- I have had a few of those moments while PG too...be prepared for some of that in the first few weeks post partum as well.
I'm so excited...just got a call from my mom that SIL (due 7/9) is in labor! This is her third child and third home/water birth. She's currently in the birthing tub in their basement, contrax are 4 min. apart and the midwife is on her way! Looks like she will have a July 2nd baby They are on the east coast) which is pretty cool b/c it's their wedding anniversary! This is the first boy in our family this generation (Mia was grandaughter #6)- and it will be so great for the 2 newest cousins to be be the first boys and only 2-3 (maybe less!) weeks apart.
Her 2nd labor was less than 3 hours (first was 9)- curious to see how long this one will be!

My water broke about an hour ago. :D
No significant pain yet, but because of the GBS test my doctor said to go to the hospital an hour or so after my water broke.
I am worried the lack of "real" contractions means this is going to be a very long day -- But I am really too excited to care!

Liz - I love the nickname Dori-- so cute! Sounds like you ARE at an awesome hospital!
Sunchaser - Sorry about the swollen breasts :( I'm sure that's so frustrating. Hopefully Jacob's bilirubin levels will go down soon!
Good Luck Shelby!
Mia's Mama - Congrats to your SIL!!
I had what I hope is my last fun night "out" before the baby last night... One of my good friends got married and we got all dressed up (heels included) and danced the whole time. I definitely overdid it-- I've been having very painful BH since we left, but it was worth it. To top it off, we DTD before bed and I've been really crampy ever since so I slept like ass. Overall though-- I had a lot of fun--however it definitely made me want to get this baby OUT! I'm definitely DONE.

Every time I ask him to finish some project that he promised to do before the baby arrives, he responds, "Well, she's not coming TOMORROW." Um, actually, maybe she is.
Shelby - looks like you were right! :D Good luck!
wrighty - I'm right there with you. I'd like to serve this little girl an eviction notice. Time is up!
lizard - Love the name and nickname, Dori!
So, I had a mental breakdown on Friday night. I'm blaming it on the hormones. I havent posted about it b/c I didnt want to bring down the thead, but after reading Shelby's post yesterday, I realize that I'm probably not the only one!
Let me start by saying that work has been ridiculously crazy. I work in the Corporate office of a restaurant chain (accounting dept). In the past two weeks, we bought back 35% of our restaurants from a franchisee, were bought by a private company and if that isnt enough work for an accounting dept that was already stretched to its limits, we have not yet replaced one of the managers. Therefore, I've had to pick up a lot. I've been working 12-14 hr days doing all this work (plus a few hours on Saturdays) and trying to teach the temp for my maternity leave.
I am overly tired and cranky beyond belief. Every 5 mins, I've got some coworker making a pregancy related comment...you're still here?...man, you've dropped....oh, you still need to drop more....oh, look at your feet....Still waddling around??...and on and on....ha, ha, ha....it aint funny anymore and I've run out of nice things to say in reponse. (see, cranky!)
Anyway, I had my 38 week (38w3d) appt on Friday. All I wanted was a little good news. I'd take 1 cm dialated!! But no, my dr said that my cervix had '"thinned out some" but no dialation. I swear, I almost cried.
Then, to top it off, I asked how long they will let me go before induction. I really want Friday to be my last day of work, but I'm hesitant to take off too early. I dont want to be sitting around the house waiting for this baby to come and then have less time after she's born. He said that they dont schedule inductions until you are atleast 41 weeks. So, if I start my leave on Friday, I could be home for 2 weeks before they induce me. Therefore, I'll probably have to suffer thru another week of work. Great.
So, Friday night, while my DH was running a few errands, I basically just laid in bed. He came home, asked if I was okay and I just burst into tears. I am such a hormonal mess!! Although, I have to say, my DH has been very supportive and empathetic to me, which is so nice.
On the bright side, atleast I have off on Tuesday for July 4th.
Sorry for the long post!

Lizard Sounds like Dori is doing well! :)
Sunchaser Sorry about the soreness- hang in there! I hope Jacob will be finished with the bili-blanket very soon :)
Shelby YAY!!! Good luck today!!
Count me in for officially being DONE with being pregnant. I am a spectacle! People's eyes literally pop out when I pass and I feel so creaky. We DTD yesterday and went for a super long walk (to get ice cream, so I was rewarded!) with our friends and their new baby. I had some pretty strong BH during that and during the night, but again, all gone today. I did, however, get sleep last night, thank goodness. I was about to lose my mind from lack of rest! Yesterday was just nuts. Come out, baby! I'm only 38 weeks, though, so I very well may have another couple of weeks in me.
ETA: makena I'm so sorry you're so sick of work. It cannot be easy to have to deal with job-related stress right now. I hope you have your little one soon so you can stop working! Enjoy your day off :)

Shelby: Yay!!! I hope you have a quick, easy delivery!
Makena: You poor thing. :( That's a lot of stress, period, never mind when you're very pregnant. I hope you go into labor soon so you don't have to stick out more work.
Mia's Mama: Any updates on your SIL?
Emotions/Hormones: I lost it last night when we got into bed--started crying for no apparent reason, then that turned into fretting about the baby, which I hadn't really done much of since much earlier in the pregnancy. So after I cried and got DH all frazzled trying to soothe me, I fell asleep and he was awake. Poor DH.
Good luck Shelby!!!
Sorry you're feeling so badly, makena & a_spark.
Have you ladies read whichever book it is that talks about "Nasting" instead of "Nesting"? (And have we had this conversation in here yet??) 'Cause Shelby's breakdown is a prime example! Miserable, miserable, miserable...and then her water breaks less than 24 hrs. later! Hmmmm...
As for me, trying to figure out how to tackle day #2 of no hubby at home. Yesterday I went to church and dinner with a friend, so that was my "outing" for the day. I am ONCE AGAIN craving a Cinnamon Crunch bagel and IC Caramel from Panera, so I think I'm headed there and then to KMart to return a curtain rod. Fun. Maybe I'll go hang out with MIL just to keep myself busy. She lets me just sit in the recliner and keeps me entertained!! Hubby will be home around dinner time tomorrow unless the guilt gets to him too much...
I am shameless and added some nipple stimulation to my nightly birth ball routine. I am wanting her OUT!

mkvh: I hadn't heard about "nasting." Which book is that?
I can't remember, Sophia... maybe the [i]Girlfriend's Guide[/b]?? I thought it was funny at the time. Now it's kinda making sense! You get cranky to distance yourself from the rest of the world so that you can 'focus' on laboring.

Thanks for the new thread, Sophia!
Nothing happening with me - I do have to confess, I am excited to meet our baby but at the same time I am kind of apprehensive about it too! I can't even fathom how our life is going to change and I wonder how I will be as a mother. Sometimes I think it would be fine with me if I just stayed pregnant forever... OK, not really but I'm not in any huge rush to have the baby either. I guess I'm just nervous about all of the change that is just around the corner - I still haven't wrapped my mind around the fact we are going to have a real, live, actual baby in our house in a matter of weeks! I guess it doesn't matter what I am thinking - he's going to come anyway! ;)

Sorry about all of this emotional lability, ladies! I had it really bad on Thursday night, but feel better now after a 2 hour crying spell. I guess DH thought the meltdown was because he had been working SO many hours for the 2 weeks prior (he's in technology sales, and close of the quarter was on Friday), because I got a huge, gorgeous boquet from our wedding florist on Friday afternoon. :o I think him being gone so much did lead to a little of my stress (though he works only 10 min. away if I had gone into labor), but mostly it's being tired, sore and DONE with the pregnancy. I feel so guilty complaining though b/c really, this pregnancy has been pretty easy- no morning sickeness, I've only gained the recommended amt. of weight, and I got/stayed PG quickly this time around (as oppossed to the 13 months and 3 miscarriages it took with Mia). BUT I AM DONE and it's freaking hard chasing a 19 month toddler around all day! Too bad I am only 37 weeks, so it may be a while.
On a good note, SIL gave birth at 2:15 this AM (6 hours of labor though she had been contracting on and off all day) to a 6lb., 14 oz. healthy little boy! She said the delivery went very smoothly, all natural without any tearing- not a single stitch! They have named him Zaiah ...which I have never heard of, but all of their kids have unusual names. We never have to "fight" over names ;) . I am eagerly awaiting pictures via email!
I am ONCE AGAIN craving a Cinnamon Crunch bagel and IC Caramel from Panera
My DH just took Mia for a bike ride to Panera to pick up bagles and coffee...I got to stay home, sleep in a bit and surf CC and my panera goodies should be arriving in a bit! :D

emotions I had a bad dream last night (I've been having a ton of these. Not scary, just weird and unsettling) and woke up crying. I'm glad DH didn't notice because he would have been a little concerned...

Oh, the dreams! I had hardly any weird/bad dreams most of my pregnancy, but the past week or so I've been having a bad dream or an anxiety dream nearly every night. Sometimes they're about the baby, like the one I wrote about a few days ago, but they're also frequently about work/finding a job and about finishing my MA, which have been weighing on my mind lately.

sophia- Thanks for taking over the threadmistress job!
Congrats klav & Lizard!!!

Logan Joseph was born on Thursday 6/29 @ 1:48am via c-section. He was 7lbs, 1oz and was 20.5 inches long. He is doing amazing well (score 9s on both Apgars) and is incredibly cute. Miasmomma and others- I completely remember making the same exact complaints. I knew I had it pretty easy as far as pregnancies go but on the other hand I was so done with being pg that I would just cry and yell for him to get the hell out already. It got to a point to where I felt like I would be pg forever but as soon as he was born I forgot all that. Within the first week I felt like my pregnancy had just flown by and all that mattered was that my lil guy was here now. I don't miss pregnancy at all but I would do it all over again ten fold to have my lil guy. I know some of you are repeat offenders but I think at this stage in pregnancy all I could think about is how miserable I was and can't remember anything else.

Our sweet baby girl, Olivia Rose, was born on July 1st at 4:38am. We are in love all over again. She weighed 6lbs 7 ounces and is a very pretty little thing-olive skin, sparkling blue eyes, long lashes, and a head full of dark black curly hair. We just made it to the hospital in time! Congrats to all the new mommies and babies!

Soulmate - Congratulations and welcome Logan!
Rande - Another quick labor for the ROs!! You guys are setting records :) Congrats on Olivia!
I can't wait to hear both of your birth stories...
Mia's Mama - I know I already told you this--but I love the fingerpainting--so cute. Is Mia "ready" for her little brother--or is she still trying to comprehend what's going on?
Complaining - I hate to complain about this pregnancy too-- especially since there was another women at the wedding last night who is due in September and she just looked like she was falling apart--while there I was breaking it down on the dance floor. I have been SO lucky--I got pregnant the month after my Dr. diagnosed with "unexplained infertility", I have only gained @ 20lbs, I didn't have m/s, I didn't have bad heartburn, and until recently I've had no problems with sleep/discomfort. I realize that not everyone is this blessed-- but now I'm feeling whiny, and just OVER being pregnant. I pray that I do not have to go until 41 weeks!

I am in the exact same boat as you-- you wanna come over :)? My DH had to work today, he has to work tomorrow, and on 4th of July. *Sigh* I could go into work tomorrow-- but since I have nothing to work on, what's the point? I'm going to drive myself nuts!
Speaking of nuts -- I just made my DH watch the u/s video that we have to once again convince myself that the baby has boy parts. I feel a little after watching it-- but I have this irrational fear that it's a girl. I think I'm going to drive my husband crazy too!

OMG, that is so me! I keep bugging DH about "what if she's really a boy & has to wear pink flowery clothes???" And he looks at me like I'm nuts. I've stared at the u/s printout a million times, and watched the video, and I'm still anxious about it. I haven't washed any baby clothes at all except for the few I have left from when Bella was little--I absolutely refuse to take the tags off of/wash anything, including the coming home outfit, so DH will have to do it while I'm in the hospital. And it's not that I wouldn't want and love a boy--but I've gotten prepared mentally and materially for a girl and it's making me nervous. It makes me feel like such a dork, though.

I can't wait to see some pics of all these babies! How many are we up to now? Let's see... Harrison, Collin, Liam, Julia, Dorla, Logan, Jacob, Olivia...and we're pretty sure that Meldoy has arrived too, right? I hope I'm not forgetting anyone!
I'm so with you ladies who are bored and waiting...we installed the car seat today, bought a speaker for our ipod (which we will take to the hospital) and now we're just waiting.... although DH has to travel to Denver Wed/Thurs, so anytime after Friday would be best. ;)

On June 30th there was an update in the old thread here (http://www.constantchatter.com/showpost.php?p=831420&postcount=967) that Maryanne's water had broken, so actually, I guess Melody might be our first official July baby in July, depending on what time she was born. :)

wrighty I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one going nuts with DH working over the holiday weekend! Sorry you have to deal with that, too, though. I so need to be distracted right now and being home alone is not working! Tomorrow I'm going to go run errands and just stay out for awhile, maybe visit a friend.
second-guessing baby's sex I'm a little worried about this too! We have a pink room, girly clothes AND I bought her a plane ticket for our annual Christmas trip to Mexico already. I wanted to wait, but there's only one non-stop direct flight from Chicago on the day we need to go and it was filling up fast. This baby better be a girl!
I'm feeling much better- DH took me out for a long walk to Cold Stone. As usual, I got a ton of stares and people nudging their friends to look at me, but each person I made eye contact with smiled at me, so I know the attention is not meant in a negative way. I'm trying to view it more from their eyes, instead of feeling like a spectacle.

Wrighty & Sophia - My DH keeps saying "What are we going to do if this is a boy?" Our nursery is pretty non-gender specific, but we dont have much in the way of non-girly clothes! I have to keep showing him the "it's a girl" u/s photo. God help us if I'm wrong!
So, is anyone else working today??? We have off tomorrow, but have to come in today. I would have preferred to have a long weekend, but I guess it's not up to me!

I did have to write an email to my team letting them know I'm still pregnant-- People seriously flip out if I'm 10 minutes late to work now!
Another night of BHs and cramps-- man I hope I'm making progress! The shooting pains out the hoo-ha have gotten MUCH worse (I really didn't think that was possible either)-- I'm hoping that means his head is engaging. Breast Pumps: For those of you who plan to pump, which one are you getting/did you get? And did you already get it? Or are you waiting?
I keep reading that sometimes insurance covers it, but 1) I don't know if my insurance will, and 2) what if I need a pump right away (Bella flat out refused to latch on so she was never BF and I'm still bitter about it) and don't have one right away?
Ack
Anyway, I'm about to go pre-register at the hospital. Maybe I'll even get to tour the place. They don't have set times for tours, they do them when they're "not too busy," and every time I called to check they said nay. :p

I checked with my insurance and they don't cover it:rolleyes: -- so this weekend I went out and bought the Medela Pump in Style Advanced. I still had some gift card money left over-- so I used that--but it was still quite a purchase! I will be returning to work within 2 months of having him-- so I know that it will be worth it--especially if I do have problems breastfeeding.
I went with the Advanced over the Original because it is supposedly more similiar to the actual act of breast feeding (allows for "let down"). There are a couple of other perks too (according to the box) and it includes a manual pump.
My hopsital/lacation consultants are very pro-Medela, which is why I went with them :D
Have fun on your hospital tour!

Nothing new to report here, except that although I was crampy all night, I slept amazingly well. Thank goodness!
wrighty, I am right there with you- I feel like I've been making progress (cramping, etc..) and if I have yet another "no change" appointment, I will scream! :)
breast pump I ordered the PIS Advanced as well. It was definitely expensive, and now that I'll be working from home I question whether I'll really need such a workhorse of a pump but I'd like to store up a lot of milk, so hopefully I'll get good use out of it.

Sorry for the delay ladies but I couldnt get into CC from home this weekend! GRRR!!! Melody was born approx 10:20pm on Friday night she is 7 lbs 12 oz (Is that right Bear?!) and is 20 inches long. Maryanne will have to post pictures later, as I am inept in that field! LOL! Mom and baby are doing wonderfully and should be released from the hospital either today or tomorrow. After a long labor and a few hours of pushing Melody was delivered C Section at Maryannes request. She is a beauty! Which is good since she is betrothed to Cameron (my boy due in Sept.) We are still working on the dowry... ;) But we figured we could all deal with each other as inlaws since we are going to be in each others lives forever anyway! LOL :p Im sure Maryanne will post as soon as she is home and able.

Congrats Maryanne and welcome Melody! :)
Everytime I come into this thread there seems to be a baby announcement - how exciting!
Who is next? Any volunteers? :p
liz- congratulations! welcome sweet dori! i'm so sorry she was in the NICU...i'm all too familiar with that experience. i'm hoping you were able to bring her home sunday. isn't the family suite great? i was able to "room in" with harrison a bit, but was always sure to be home before finn woke up in the morning. doesn't it just make you melt to see your husband with your child? best thing ever.
sunchaser- i'm sorry you're dealing with sore/swollen bb's. mine always get engorged when i shower (not so much now that they've adjusted to the demand). i know i can always count on a good letdown after showering for pumping or bf'ing though. that's great that you're pumping the left side to keep the supply going...you'll have a good freezer stash and it will be great to have the supply when hopefully he does get the latch going. great news about the bilirubin levels and weight! can't wait to see photos!
mia's mama- gorgeous! you look amazing...and that belly is just the best! i am loving mia's hands on your belly! i totally hear you on the exhaustion that accompanies chasing a toddler around while enormously pregnant. i didn't even have to deal with that last difficult month and i was still wiped out. and, congrats auntie!
shelbymay- how exciting that your water broke! can't wait to hear the news about your baby. hopefully your dh was able to finish all his projects in time!
wrighty- wow! that's one heck of a night out. how fun! i'm amazed that you were able to dance in heels...but not totally surprised since you look absolutely fabulous pregnant.
makena- i'm sorry you're so overworked. yah, those hormones will really get you in the 9th month. glad you'll have an opportunity to relax tomorrow!
a spark- where's your belly shot girl? i know you look amazing which is why everyone's pointing at you.
soulmate- congratulations! and welcome logan! glad you're doing so well!
rande- wow, congratulations! welcome olivia rose! what a sweet name. glad you made it to the hospital in time!
maryanne- welcome to the world sweet melody!
__________
breast pump- i have the medela pump in style and love it. i didn't pump all that much with finn and never had a stash stored. but, with harrison in the NICU, i had to pump and store every 3 hours for 10 days...so i have 2 freezer's full of milk, even after stocking the NICU refrig for his feedings while he was there. i'm not pumping now since i just want to make the amount that he is demanding. i suppose i could pump in between feedings to keep my supply up, but i just don't have the time to be a milk machine with finn's schedule. i'll assume that as harrison's demand becomes greater, my supply will increase...hopefully that's the case. the freezer stash will come in handy for dh and the nanny when i have to work.
sonia- here is a photo that can be posted on the 1st page. also, would you mind correcting harrison's middle name to gray? thanks!

I guess it has been awhile since I've posted a belly photo, so here goes... I've been wearing this skirt practically every day because none of my maternity pants or shorts fit anymore. It's skirts and dresses all the way!

Oh my goodness!! I haven't been on since Thursday afternoon - l come back and there is a HUGE number of babies!!! This is so so exciting!!!
CONGRATULATIONS Mystikal, Lizard, Klav, Soulmate, Maryanne, Rande and Mmisabel!!!!!!!
I hope l got everyone.
ShelbyMay Good luck! We are waiting for your good news.
Sunchaser Sorry to hear about the swollen breasts. Hopefully breastfeeding is going better and glad to hear the little one is gaining weight.
Mia's mama You look so great - all belly! I love Mia's handprints on your tummy.
Sophia I'm counting down for you. l can't believe you only have 4 more days left!!!
Breastpump I also got the Medela PIS Advanced. Everyone I know has recommended it and l actually got some storage containers this weekend.
I had a semi-scare on Friday. Starting on thursday, the baby wasn't moving as much which worried me a little but l was still getting 10kicks every 2 hrs. Well Friday around noon, l realized the baby hadn't moved since 8am. I drank some juice, laid on my side on the floor in my office - nada. I called my doctor's office and they told me to come in immediately. Of course l start to freak out thinking that something was really wrong. l'm hopping on subways, texting my gf, in tears - all very dramatic for me :o . Finally get to my doctor's - she does an ultrasound and here was the little one - heart beat going strong and breathing. She said that it just seems that he/she had very little space but was still moving. She monitored me and the baby for an hour and everything looks great. I felt so much better and a little embrassed about the drama but hey...it had to happen once right? Oh, so also did a quick internal and said l was close so nothing much is going on with me.
The weekend was very nice. Friday - went to Home Depot to get window treatments for our apartment. l am in full nesting mode and want the house "perfect" before the baby comes. Like that's really going to happen.
Saturday - DH went to watch the France-Brazil game with some friends and I went "final" shopping with one of the wives who is also pregnant. I think l am ready to go except for getting some bf bras. Half way through shopping, l realized my pants were kinda damp/wet. I wasn't sure if my water had broke or I was leaking urine or it was just sweat...:o I monitored it the rest of the day but nada. l think it might have been sweat (really hot over here)...
After shopping and getting game updates from DH, we went to meet everyone who was celebrating France's win. It was weird cos everyone was pretty tipsy or drunk and here we were - the two prego sober women:p . I must say that my poor belly got rubbed more than it ever had been through out my pregnancy. I mean every Tom, Dick, Harry and Mary came over to say congrats and tell me that l was glowing and a great mom since l was out celebrating - all while trying to or touching my belly!!  It was nice in the beginning but after 2hrs, l was done!!
Sunday, l just cleaned and cooked for the week while dreading coming back to work today. I am so glad that Friday is my last day. l can't wait.
I have been having some cramps but nothing major. Nothing else is going on with me - l really think I am going to go late.
Any other late July mome around? I feel like l am going to give birth the last day of July at this rate. ugh!
a spark- you and mia's mama have certainly missed your calling these last 9 months. you should have been maternity models. you look absolutely radiant and so gorgeous!
cece You're too sweet! I love your photos of Harrison. I think that way back you mentioned you're a photographer, is that right? That explains the fabulous photos.
that's sweet...thanks. yes, i am.
and, i've been trying to think of who you remind me of. and it's liv tyler. that's exactly who look like!

WOW!!! So many new additions to the world - congratulations Maryanne, Rande and Mmisable!!!!
- - - - - -
Sadly, I am still here.... but thanks for thinking of me, mia's mama!! :D
I feel so stalled. I was making (in my mind) great progress this weekend, and then NOTHING. Although I have had a lot of sharp shooting pains waaay down inside; like what Wrighty was saying. I lose more pellets every time I go to the bathroom (and sometimes chunks in all various colors of the rainbow it seems  ).
But I have made some great progress on the house and am finally ready for the boy to come. The basinett is set up, I washed all his clothes and organized the changing table, and packed the last few items in my bag yesterday afternoon. I told him last night that he can come out whenever he likes!! :D
I had a dream last night that he was coming on the 6th, and DH said he dreamt that I was already IN labor! Hahahaha... I wish that was the case.
My mother is coming today - we leave for the airport in a little bit! I am excited to have someone else around to help with the mundane things and be my shopping buddy. My dad is coming on the 11th and then they will leave together on the 19th.

a-spark- looking fabulous as always! I too have grown out of almost everything and am only wearing skirts as well.
amaye- I'm due near the end of the moth too (7/24), but HOPING for a mid-month baby. ;)
numah- sorry you seemed to have stalled. :( I think dreams can be very telling, so I am predicting the 6th for you! :)

Welcome to all the new little ones! It is so nice logging in and seeing all of the arrivals!
Breast Pump: I am going to stay at home, and only plan to pump occasionally, so I got the Medela Double Select electric pump. I got mine on E-bay from a dealer for $97 (they are 125 at BRU).
amaye I am due the 28th, so I am here too!
I think I lost my mucous plug on Saturday morning. I had had some bleeding after my internal on Friday and then I was drying off from the shower and there was a huge chunk of mucous, about quarter sized, but much thicker than a quarter. Oh well, I know I am 2cm and 80% effaced, so I am hoping anytime after this week!

Thank you for all the congratulations, ladies! DH and I are (obviously) thrilled.
Congrats to all the other new momma's! :D
Good luck to those still waiting. Here's my birth story and a couple pictures.
Threadmistress, you can add Julia's middle name to the front page-it's Edythe.
We got to the hospital and started the cytotec by 9:00, started getting some contractions by 10:00. I was allowed to walk around from 11:00 to 1:00 and then they checked me. I was only 2 centimeters, so they administered another dose of the cytotec. At five they checked me again and I was barely three centimeters so they decided to break my water and started the pitocin. Once they did that I was in a lot of pain and I handled it for about an hour before getting an epidural. It totally knocked me for a loop and I couldn't feel anything at first, then I started having a lot of pressure in my back with every contraction, but I was still pretty much sleeping through everything. I didn't even realize that Julia's heartrate kept dropping. She kept laying on the cord and no matter which way I turned it didn't help. Finally they brought in the OB on call and told me that even though I was progressing great on my own (I was 6 centimeters at 9:45) they didn't know how much longer Julia would be able to tolerate it so they needed to do a c-section right away.
While Joe got changed my sisters came in and hugged me (I could tell they were scared) and then they took me back. I got even more of the epidural so I was numb from the shoulders down, and then I kept shaking uncontrollably. I remember them telling us they were pulling her out, and then I heard her cry. It was the most beautiful sound in the world. They brought her around to us and she has the most beautiful hair. I'm not even sure what color it is - blond with red highlights or maybe even an auburn.
Joe got to hold her for a while until I felt up to it (which didn't end up being until 2:30 that morning). She weighed 7lbs 70zs and was 20 inches long. She looks just like her daddy.

mystikal Julia is gorgeous!! I hope your recovery is going well.
nuhmah Sorry you've stalled out. That's great that you've gotten so much done, though! I'm sure it'll be fun to have your mom there, too.
I'm feeling really weird right now...and I just ate so it's not hunger. I'm feeling really shaky and kind of nauseous and freaky. No cramping or anything but my hands are shaking. I'm not sure what it means but it feels strange...
OFFICIAL congrats to maryanne and WELCOME MELODY!

amaye--Oh, my! Sorry you had such a scare!!
cece--I too have to comment on how AWESOME your photos are. Wow!
nuhmah--sorry to hear that you haven't made any more progress. Hopefully the little guy gets here REALLY soon so that your mom and dad can spend as much time as possible with him!
linny--I am SO jealous of your progress! I'm due in just days and was only 1cm/50-60% and NO SIGN of my plug!!
mystikal--she's beautiful! Congrats again!! And thanks for the birth story. You really make the c-section seem less scary!
--------------------------------------------------
Forgot my update... NST was great. BP was slightly up (142/78). Still trace protein in my urine. But the dr. on call wasn't in a rush to get her out because everything is borderline. So I go back on Wednesday and see my primary OB. He said we likely will set an induction date because she won't let me go past due. And my due date according to the dr. is NEXT WEDNESDAY!! Oh, please let me show more progress Wednesday!!!

Congrats rande and mmisabel!!
Mystikal - I love Julia's hair! So cute!
Amaye - well, since we are due date buddies I am right here with you! :) Like I said before though, I'm not at the "I'm so over being pregnant!" stage yet. I'm OK with a few more weeks still! Glad everything was OK after your scare - you shouldn't be embarrassed at all! I am constantly freaking out about that as well, and the doctors definitely want you to err on the side of caution.
Breast pump - I am going to try not to pump. I am not going back to work so I don't have to worry about that aspect of it. More importantly, since I've had a reduction I will need to stimulate my supply as much as possible and from what I've read it is better to just let the baby nurse as much as possible in order to do that. If for whatever reason I get a pump I'll probably have to rent one of the hospital-grade ones. I'll have to see if my insurance will cover it - maybe if my doctor writes a prescription for a pump?
Baby's sex - I keep thinking they got it wrong as well! Especially since during the big u/s, he was facing forward so we never got the side view of his nuts and bolts - we just saw a pin-sized dot, so we're totally going on the word of the tech. She said she was "more than 95% sure" it was a boy so I hope she knew what she was talking about! Otherwise if he's a girl, she'll be wearing a whole lot of blue stuff!!
Being bored - Even though I am still OK w/ being pg, I'm bored too! My mom was visiting a couple of weeks ago and she and I accomplished almost everything on my "TDD Before Baby" list, so now that I'm not working I don't have much to do during the day. I just keep rearranging furniture. The only things I really want to get done at this point is to organize/file a bunch of paperwork, and to cook a few meals for the freezer. Not much - plus I can't even go shopping because of DH being laid off! I guess I'll try to catch up on some reading or something. I can't sleep at night so I might as well do something besides just lay there staring at the ceiling.

Well, maybe I haven't completely stalled... I am having contractions again like I was on Friday night. They have been going since about 11am, and were coming about every 10 minutes, and then got a little closer. They seem to be growing in intensity, too! I am not holding my breath, but these ones seem to be a bit more painful than the last ones I had.
They have been going strong for about 3 hours now, and are still coming.
Maybe it is all the labor vibes from this thread and its posters!!!

Mystikal - Congrats on Julia-- she's beautiful! You guys look like one happy family :D
emmjay - We were only shown the boy bits from underneath--- so my concern is that she was seeing the cord and calling it a boy. In the video she does clearly point out the different between the cord and what the tech says are the boy parts. DH SWEARS he sees "the junk" -- I'm still skeptical!
OMG I wish this kid would stop jabbing me in the cervix with his head-- the pain is unbearable!

I got the Medela Pump in Style Advanced, recommended by our hospital for when I was having problems with engorgment and feeding baby Jacob. I have used it but haven't been using it lately since I have had great feedings and little problems since although since I'll be going back to work I'll need it anyways. I'm very happy with it.

Well, I'm all pre-registered and I also got to see the maternity ward! The rooms are so much nicer than when I had Alex & Bella. I don't know if it's because it's a different hospital, or because it's been so long & there are different ideas about how to set up maternity wards, or what.
After that DH & I went to several stores to look for some dark pajama bottoms but I didn't find what I wanted. I may try another store after dinner.
I got home very tired and took a long nap.

Hi ladies - just a drive-by post to say that Dorla's still in the NICU. :( After the respiratory issue that she had (which has since cleared up), and the morning she was supposed to go home, she developed a pretty bad case of jaundice. :( She's been doing phototherapy, and we had been hoping she'd go home today, but her last bili level actually went up. So, she's still being treated and now they're saying tomorrow's the day. We're hoping that's the case - we really want her back home.
On a better note, my milk's coming in, yay. :) Unfortunately we've had to supplement while she's been in NICU, but there wasn't much we could do about that. She is ridiculously sleepy from the jaundice and won't wake up for feedings no matter what me or the lactation consultant try. I've been pumping but it's not been enough at this point to feed her needs. Hopefully once we get her home and things are more established, we can ditch the formula.
Gotta run, will let you know when she's home safe. No time for shout outs now but congrats to all the other new moms - there are so many!!

Well.... I've stalled out again. Grr. My mom is here now, and she told me that she was like this when she was in labor for me. Stalled out a couple of times, it would start back up and begin all over again. Guess I am going to have a long drawn out labor just like my mother did with me. These ones were consistent and getting stronger for most the day.
I guess we are back to the waiting game!
{{{HUGS}}} Lizard! Sending you and Dorla healthy vibes. May tomorrow be the day!

Liz: sorry Dori hasn't been released yet. I hope she gets to go home soon.
nuhmah: I hope you get the real deal going soon! I'm sure you're frustrated.
mkvh: Yeah, 4 more days, although today is pretty much over. :)
Well, we had a huge thunderstorm system come through this evening. Some of the areas around us flooded (4-5"), but we're fine and just enjoyed the rain (1"). Unfortunately, DH went out to the grocery store right before it started and he came back totally drenched (and he was in a car!). I hope the rumbling from the thunder ends soon because one of our dogs is high strung and will keep us up when we go to bed (he doesn't like being "alone" during storms).
I also got a package from one of my aunts--she sent the baby an adorable little outfit. The t shirt has a zebra and lots of flowers, some embroidered, and the jeans have a scarf belt and beads down at the hems. I can't wait till she's big enough for it. :)

Congrats, Maryanne!
Lots of action in here lately!
I don't think our baby is going to make his/her appearance anytime soon. Had my OB appointment this morning and have made little progress... From a "fingertip" dilated to a whopping 1cm in the past week. I have had no little pellets or anything like some of you other ladies.
I'm excited to meet our little one, but honestly I am in no rush. I love being PG! This is such an exciting time, and really, I'm not feeling bad at all.
(Not to mention I am terrified of the pain of labor. And of taking care of a newborn. And of how it's going to change our life forever...)

nuhmah ~ Keep us posted!
Names ~ I'm starting to freak out a bit about names. We have our top choices that DH and I agreed on, but we are bringing a list to the hospital and not making a final decision until we see the baby.
Here's our list so far. (First names only for now... One thing at a time!) Feel free to chime in with any opinions. Since our last name is so common, I don't mind sharing it: Williams.
Boys:
Ryan (DH's favorite, and an "R" after my Grandmother)
Elliott
Chase (after the place where we met)
Owen
Rhys (my dark horse favorite, but DH will not go for it)
Girls:
Morgan
Eleanor, with a nickname of Nora
Lydia
Lillian (might be a mouthful with our last name)
Amelia, with a nickname of Mia (my other Grandmother's middle name, but might be a mouthful with our last name)

Nuhmah: Bummer that you stalled again, but at least you are having something happen! Maybe it is dilating you, and by the time you go in, you won't have hard labor for too long!
Lindy: Those are great names, of course we are using Amelia, so I am very partial to that one ;) I have enjoyed being pregnant too, but now I am bored and I want my little girl!

lindy I think my favorites are Owen and Eleanor :)
