Aspiring actress seeking a TV role -- or local sad-sack looking for love? You be the judge.

Winnipeg's Sarah Blondin competes for the prize man on ABC's The Bachelor: Paris, premiering Jan. 9. ABC identifies her only as a 23-year-old student named Sarah B. While the network released publicity photos of all 25 contestants, a spokeswoman said last names are not made public, and the women are contractually bound to secrecy until the final episode.

But friends and co-workers in the know let slip that Blondin is our gal. A retail clerk and would-be actress, she also appears in locally shot teen horror movie Tamara, set for release early in the new year.

Tamara producer Martin Wiley says he spotted Blondin working at Fino Clothing on Corydon Avenue during shooting in the summer of 2004.

"They were desperately looking for people to do a couple of roles that we had not cast yet," Wiley says. "We were looking for someone who was kind of young and perky to play high school and we weren't really having a lot of luck."

Wiley says Blondin worked for one day, but visited the set a few times, and he wishes her well.

"She was great in the movie and a great person, and I support anything she wants to do."

A co-worker at Fino refused to comment yesterday, and other acquaintances were equally tight-lipped.

Actress Melissa Elias, who played a lead role in Tamara, says she remembers Blondin as a "very pleasant girl," and she also wished her luck.

Whether competing for a man's affections on TV is a smooth career move for Blondin remains to be seen. But shooting the show in Paris, France, had to be a bonus....

Stork is originally from Fort Collins, Colo., and told ABC he was seeking an athletic gal who is "genuine, honest and caring."

Two Edmonton women competed on the seventh Bachelor series last spring, when actor Charlie O'Connell was up for grabs -- one, a "swimsuit model" named Kim Choma, made the final four.

And rumour has it that bachelor Travis Stork -- a hunky doctor known as Dr. McDreamy among nursing staff at Nashville's Vanderbilt Medical Centre -- was so taken with Blondin he came to Winnipeg to meet her mother in the one of the final episodes.

I'm not in the game cause I never remember to make my picks in time, but I have the same opinions as you Rosebud03 (I'm an Erin too!). Canada Sarah is cute but 23? He's 33...alot happens in those ten years. Susan is very pretty and very composed. I hope she is sweet and not a beauty who knows she is and is always surprised when she isn't picked first for things, etc. It's so hard to tell at this point. This should be good, and I like that it's on Monday. Just what I need on a Monday night, something brainless yet entertaining :p

Allie G. was on the radio this morning as I was driving in. I didn't watch the show but definitely got the gist of what happened!

She tried to laugh off the whole thing, but she was definitely pretty bitter. She started talking about how she's a real doctor and he's only a resident. How she made such a sacrifice to be over there because of her oncology practice, etc. (I think she said "oncology" about 20 times in her 5 minute interview.) :rolleyes:

It was pretty funny - she started out so well during the interview. Making fun of herself, not blaming ABC too much for the editing. But by the end of it she was bitching about ABC's editing and whining about how she's a REAL doctor. :rolleyes: Cracked me up!

They also had an interview with Matt Hinckle (the guy Meredith dumped in the finale of the Bachelorette 2 years ago). He's from Houston and so they did an update with him. He's been dating someone for a year and a half and has bought some property which he is "farming." He said he didn't see the Bachelor last night because he was on his tractor. (Hope that tractor has some serious headlights, b/c it was dark here when the Bachelor was on!) ;) He seems like a really nice guy.

DH & I had a blast watching this last night.
I really wanted Cole to stay and Moana to leave, I really think she is there for the game only. Canada Sarah is so cute but I am not sure if she will be around til the end. Travis and her were holding fingers at the end of the rose ceremony. I felt like she is going to be too clingy and get upset easily if he kisses someone else. I'm going to be way premature and predict a Susan and Sarah B. final two. At the very least, I think those two will be in the final three.

Susan= ridiculously beautiful. Definitely the prettiest girl there. However, all that nonsense about how everything just melts away when she sees him.... come on, do you really say or even think stuff like that at her age? It just seemed kind of cheesy and cliche. She's still one of my favorites though. She's just so composed and elegant.

I'm over Sarah from Canada. She was pitiful when she was trying to get a kiss from Travis. I am truly surprised that Travis wants to wait to kiss the women, past Bachelors couldn't wait.

shellslake, here is a very brief recap of last night

Kristen was choosen to go on a one-on-one date with Travis because she received the last rose. The catch was that if she didn't get a rose from him on their date, then she would immediately have to go home. Kristen wrote a poem and read it to Travis on their date. I think he was trying not to laugh. The other girls thought that Kristen would go home, especially after hearing about the poem. Kristen ended up putting an orange peel in her mouth to try to make it look like she had bad teeth to show Travis something he could do with his patients. I don't think he got it. He sent her home. She seemed really sweet.

The first group date was to the Effiel Tower. Nothing too shocking happened. Mauna said that she might not accept a rose for some silly reason that I can't remember. The other girls think that she is in it for the competion and not for Travis. Travis gave the rose to Jehan. I think that Travis tried to have alone time with each girl.

The second date was to the Champagne region of France. I think all of girls got a little drunk, it's easy to do with champagne. Tara got the rose from that date, much to the disappointment of Sarah from Canada.

During the night of the Rose Ceremony Travis asked Susan up to his bedroom because it was her birthday. He had a small cake that he wanted to give her. She told him some cheesy lines and they were about to kiss when Jehan & Tara barged in. They were jealous that Susan was getting attention. Travis nicely told them that they already had their roses and he needed to spend time with the other girls. Susan was NOT happy.

Sarah from Canada asked for alone time with Travis. She really, really tried to get him to kiss her, but Travis wouldn't do it. He wanted to wait to kiss the girls, I'm assuming to make it special. The other girls watched through the window. There are some mighty jealous girls this season!

I didn't notice blue dress girl's hair, but it is completely over-the-top! Does the show provide them with hair, makeup, and wardrobe? The girls never seem like they pack much, yet you never see them wear clothes over again. Also, the girls sure do have a lot of formal dresses. I've always wondered that.

I can't believe I forgot to make my picks for the show! Dangit. Sarahh, there's a lot of speculation over on FORT, so I assumed you'd read it, too. :o So yes, I cheated a little. ;)

I'm bummed Elizabeth didn't go further. Not that we got to know her, but I like that she seemed so down-to-earth and not super-petite like the other girls.

I echo that Kristen was very sweet, and I don't think the poem was over the top. Remember all the crap that Meredith got from the guys during the first RC? I thought the poem was cheesy and cute, but not too much. The orange teeth, now that's a different story.

The girls weren't just drunk in Champagne, they're drunk almost all the time. I've read past reports that the alcohol is flowing heavily 24/7, so keep that in mind when judging their actions, especially during the RCs, which last until 4 or 5 in the morning. TPTB are looking for drama, and what better way to get it than with alcohol & sleeplessness?

I've also read that, in conjunction with being provided with gowns, the girls also get their hair done for RCs. Other than that they're on their own. I can't remember if it was Andrew's season or Alex's, but there was a crochet dress worn by two different women at two different rose ceremonies. Big ooops in there.

Last night's episode was the first Bachelor that I have watched in a while. I know it is not good TV, but watching all these girls fight for a man, I just can't look away.

It always gets me that the girls and the Bachelor never talk about anything real. Their one-on-one time is always about feelings and how amazing they all are. I just don't know how they figure out if the like each other if they don't even know anything about each other.

I guess it is the premise of the show, but the women come off as so desperate. I want to tell them - you are only 23 (or 25 or whatever), relax!

I guess that is why I kind of can respect Moana, because she doesn't get caught up in the cattiness. Although, I was a little perplexed when she said she didn't want to date a man when he was dating other women. Umm...You have seen the show before, haven't you?

One more note - when they were kissing at the campground it looked like Sarah was shoving her tongue in his mouth.

This episode was HILARIOUS!! Some thoughts....

They did a great job selecting the most stereotypical girls: the stoner camper (sorry, but that’s Ms. Canada to me), the beauty queen, the model, the troublemaker, the whiner, the class clown, the girl who can put her fist in her mouth (HA!! What the hell was that?!) etc. They are great!!

I was sure that Sarah from TN was out. She just looks like a stalker. Her eyes get too big and she is always complaining about how much she loves him and how the others aren’t in it for the right reasons. What exactly ARE the right reasons? I say it’s either to fall in love or to get a big ass diamond that you can have made into a pendant later. But I digress.

I also can’t stand the red head. Something about her is very unnerving. Maybe it was the shorts and boots combo of last week. Or the skirt with the butt ruffle (that barely covered the tush) last night at the casino.

We've only seen him have one one-on-one time with her, at the Champagnerie. She asked him to go talk and she was all worried, but he told her not to worry and that he liked her and she got the group date rose. I dunno if she thinks she's special because of that, but she's acting quite balsy being the "butt-insky"!

Did you notice that Travis (We are on a first name basis now.) gave Sarah from Canada the cheek when she moved in to kiss him in the tent?? HAHA!!

I noticed this too! I was embarassed for her! After begging him for a kiss last week and getting the cheek this week, I was amazed that he kissed her after he sent Jennifer home.

Camping date was definitely staged. Travis went on and on about how it was the perfect date for him and he already knew that Sarah like to camp. That was the first date where he actually spent the night with one of the girls, and he's obviously smitten with Sarah. Remember his voiceover at the end about how his feelings for the women can't all be the same.

According to some articles he's quite a novice on the dating scene and has gone out recently with much younger girls. Since he didn't date when he was younger, he's still at the stage where he loves cutsey attention rather than real conversation.

Tara isn't gone yet because she's beautiful. Editing this week showed no interaction between the two of them, but we know they each get alone-time with him on group dates. For all we know he could have kissed her, too.

HOWEVER, did anyone catch the previews of next week's show? At the end it showed a blond in a pink shirt hugging Travis, crying, and telling him that not everyone there is in it for the right reasons. I'm pretty sure that's SarahB (only other blond is Jehan, and we know she has a 1-on-1 at the ET), and why would she be saying that if she wasn't being sent home? That would end up a real shocker. Maybe their camping date didn't go as well as he'd hoped...?

All of the girls are encouraged to talk about each other, but why is abc showing SarahS the most? I think they're setting her up as the "badgirl" in a final-2 showdown, ala Andrew's season. We hear her saying all the bitchy things and dislike her, and end up rooting for the good girl. I'm starting to think Jehan might be the good girl/dark horse, and Moana will be #3.

I don't think they slept over!?? The girls didn't take any bags with them, and he would have waited until morning to give the rose, if it was a sleepover date.
However, there must have been more to that date that they didn't show us. What a rip off! The other girls go on an over-night date on a yacht in the South of France, and out to dinner and casino night. But the camping trip was just sitting byt he fire!?? They must have done other things, but for rediting reasons didn't show the whole thing. Must have been a pretty boring date if that's all they showed us! LOL

I was wondering about that too?? I didn't catch the girl crying though. But I thought it was maybe Tara, because it looked like her hair was more red?? HHmmmmmmm
But then I thought about it more, and could it be one of the surprise gals that comes for a visit?? Maybe she gets some dirt on someone and goes back to tell Travis??

Moana is my favorite right now. She seems to be the most realistic about this whole process. Come on, how can these girls say they're smitten after one or two dates? Honestly. It's hilarious to me that these girls are so upset with Moana b/c she won't talk about Travis and how she feels about him.

Susan is beautiful, but enough already with the, "I'm a smitten kitten" crap. She's starting to try a little too hard.

Canada Sarah seems to be so young and...ummm...dumb. I don't think she's very pretty either. Not sure what Travis sees in her.

TN Sarah is forgettable IMO. Don't have much to say about her except that she better reign in that desperate act a bit. She seems nice, but a little too eager and overly excited to be there.
