Today at the store there was a ginormous line at the deli...which made me think of all of you. So how often do you eat deli type foods? Lunch meat and cheeses, deli salads and things like that.

We buy lunch meat every week from the deli for DH's lunches. I occasionally buy sliced cheese there if I'm going to eat sandwiches (DH doesn't like cheese on his sandwiches). Every once in a while I get prepared salads and such from the deli counter, but not at my regular grocery store (Ralph) usually just at Whole Foods.

Other for me: I generally detest most deli meats. I will buy ham and turkey for DH and cheese for various uses. I do REALLY like the Boar's Head brand for the Cajun Chicken breast. It doesn't taste like deli meat to me. I also like the hard, dry meats like salami and pepperoni, but that's it for me. BTW, Boar's Head makes a really spectacular horseradish cheddar! YUM!
I've never tried the prepared salads, but I'll get specialty olives if the need comes up.

I also chose "other". I don't like lunch meat unless it is Boar's Head, and then it I'm really picky about which ones. Until I tasted Boar's Head, I hadn't eaten lunch meat since I was a child. The thought of it makes me ill.
If and when I go to a deli, I'll get a veggie sandwich or a salad. There aren't many good ones in Atlanta anyway. However, when I go home to CT, I usually go to NYC, and I always go by a deli for a good, hot corned beef sandwich and a slice of cheesecake.
We buy lunch meat every week or two, but we, too, will only eat Boar's Head.

I buy deli lunch meat for DH's lunches during the week. My local market (Mars Food) also makes an absolutely awesome homemade turkey salad that I am totally addicted to! I buy a pound every single week and make sandwiches for my work lunches. I also loooooove deli cheese; there is no pre-wrapped sliced brand that even comes close to the taste, particularly for American Cheese. Plus; so many other cheeses to choose from! My deli just started carrying a buffalo cheddar cheese that makes my mouth water just to think about!
Hmmm...good thing I'm stopping at the store on my way home! :D

We don't really eat sandwiches (well, we didn't pre-pregnancy), so I tend not to buy deli meat/cheeses. If I want a turkey sandwich, I buy a frozen turkey breast, roast it, and slice my own.
That said... There is one particular deli salad that I loooove -- penne pasta, garlic aoili, green onions, parmesan, and sundried tomatoes. For some reason, I just love it. (West Seattle Metropolitan Market, if anybody lives near here) Albertson's has fantastic (and cheap!) fried chicken. Way better than KFC. They're pretty unhealthy, though, so I hardly ever buy them. Maybe 1/2x year.
ETA - I've never even heard of this boar's head! I'll keep an eye out.

Oooh! Metropolitan Market has the world's best deli, I swear!!! Not your typical grocery store deli, either. I love it!

If there isn't a line at the deli, I'll go there to get meat. I like their turkey and roast beef better from the deli than I do in the premade packages, plus it's cheaper.
Then again, lately I've been buying my lunchmeat in huge packs at Sam's Club...so I skip the deli and meat section at the supermarket all together.

GoCougs, if you go there and get that pasta salad, beware: it's highly addictive! I used to practically have to shield my eye from the deli section while I was dieting so I wouldn't stop in and get a sample. They have those little plastic cups & forks specifically for sampling, and maybe it tasted different from the last time I had it.
I call Metropolitan Market "The Happy Grocery Store" because it always makes me soooo happy to go in there. How sad am I??? :o

We also eat only Boar's Head. At Von's/Pavillions their premium brand is Christophre Columbus I believe which is also good. We almost always get maple honey turkey because that's what DH likes. He's a creature of habit, I for one, cannot eat the same thing every day.

OMG! I could eat subs daily! During this pregnancy, I eat subs (freshly cut meat/cheeses from Jersey Mikes) just about 1-2 times a week.
Now, as far as buying my own meat from the deli in the grocery store... ehh, maybe once every few months. We don't eat many sandwhiches at home. I love salads and subs, though! :)

I wish I liked lunch meats, it would make packing lunch so much easier! I get sargento's cheese in the deli aisle, that's pretty much all I buy anymore. I suppose when I have kids in the house, I will have to go back to the deli to get cold cuts for their lunches...at least that is the plan right now!

I'll buy stuff from the deli to make sandwiches throughout the week....and if I'm in or near Santa Monica I'll have to stop in Bay Cities Italian Deli to get my fix. That place has a cult following for a good reason! Yum.

Other: I maybe eat it every few months when my ILs have it for a lunch gathering. I personally do not like it much and would rather have either a cheese sandwich or fresh meat/no preservatives on a bun (i.e., like Mrs. Hill).

*Love It*. I won't buy deli meat unless its Boar's Head....no prepackaged stuff for me. That being said, I could eat a deli sandwich/sub every day if I had to and normally eat them on a weekly basis. During the school year I eat them almost everyday because its fast without having to go to a fast food place.
Publix Subs are the best. :D
I like a good Italian deli but that's about it.

Huh. I think I'm reading this differently. Everyone else seems to be talking about grocery store deli meat. I interpreted it as eating at a deli. We have two really really good deli's near the house and I eat at one or the other of them (or get carryout) at least once a week, if not more often.

I did the same. I wasn't including grocery store delis, which I also do really care too much for.
