We are having a get-together this weekend. Our town has fireworks this weekend and our yard is directly behind where they shoot them off so we are inviting a bunch of people over. I'm looking to make something in a pitcher to serve. Something that I can make beforehand would be wonderful!
Do you know where I can find a good one? Or do you have one to share?
I had one last year called the *paint can* I think. I don't know how it was made though.

sangria?
here's a loose recipe i've used before but i'm sure there are plenty others...
two bottles red wine
small diced apples, thinly sliced oranges & lemons/limes
a can of diced peaches or mandarin oranges
sugar or simple syrup
two shots of bacardi
club soda (or seven-up)
mix all ingredients, stir & add ice.

My hubby made a white wine sangria a few weekends ago that was AWESOME! It was the first time I'd had a white wine one, and it was so light and summery. I'll ask him how he made it. I know it had white wine, Cointreau, vodka, apples, oranges, lemons, limes. I can't remember what else and how exactly he did it, but damn...it was good (and DANGEROUS!! ).

I made a white wine sangria last summer for a bbq and it was a huge hit.
Here is the recipe:
Bobby Flay White Peach Sangria (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_23253,00.html)
White Peach Sangria Recipe courtesy Bobby Flay
1 bottle white wine (Spanish table wine)
3 ounces brandy
2 ounces triple sec
1 cup orange juice
1 cup pineapple juice
2 ounces simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water brought to a boil for 2 minutes in a small saucepan) and cooled (leftover syrup can be stored in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for 1 month)
3 ounces white peach puree (peel peaches, remove pit and puree in a blender with a small amount of water)
Fresh peaches, oranges, and apples sliced
Place all ingredients in a pitcher and stir to mix. Refrigerate at least 8 hours or up to 48 hours. Serve over ice.

Here's another Sangria recipe:
3 1/4 cups ( 26 fl. oz) dry red wine
1 tablespoon sugar
Juice of 1 large orange
Juice of 1 large lemon
1 large orange, sliced thin crosswise
1 large lemon, sliced thin crosswise
2 medium peaches, peeled, pitted and cut into chunks
1 cup (8 fl. oz) club soda
Combine all the ingredients except for the club soda in a large punch bowl or serving pitcher, mixing well. Refrigerate overnight. Inmediately before serving, mix in the club soda for added fizz. Ladle into cups with ice cubes.
I've also had mint juleps served in a pitcher, but I believe they're a bit of a pain to make as you have to create a syrup on the stovetop... anyone else done this?

You could use those UV vodkas for color/flavor.
Basically any fruit juice mixed drink would work, I bet. You wouldn't want to do a soda mixed drink because of the carbonation..
I like Melon Balls. (Midori Melon, Pineapple juice, Orange Juice...) (I think that's all.)
Margaritas.... mix in a pitcher and serve over ice.

I've done Mojitos in a pitcher. Works fairly well. Chill the Club Soda beforehand, and prep all the other ingredients but don't add the soda until you're ready to drink. Then pour over a cup of ice. It was a hit at our last BBQ!
Whatever you do decide to make, make at least 2 batches (depending on your guests) so you have the next one ready to go, minus any bubble drinks.
Man, I'm SO craving Sangria! If I didn't have chicken thawed for tonight, I'd make the hubby go out with me for Spanish food and sangria...yum!

I second the margarita suggestion! And for even less aggravation and work during your party, you can go to the liquor store or even the grocery store and buy a 'bucket' of margaritas! My DH and I do this all of the time. Basically the bucket is plastic with a spout and comes with a pouch of margarita mix and a packet of salt. You buy a bottle of tequila, cut open the pouch and dump it in the bucket with the tequila and voila! Margaritas are ready!! You can freeze it as well for frozen drinks. And I know they also sell the buckets for daiquiris and pina coladas too. :D

Hmm. I don't think mine had vodka in it... One place did put half and half in there, though... And you can also put cranberry juice in there for a Melon Ball with Cranberry juice. LOL.

These might be too late, but I found them on the Margaritaville.com website and they looked REALLY good.
“Who’s to Blame” Margaritas
1 Empty Gallon Water Jug
750ML Margaritaville Gold Tequila
8 oz. Bols Triple Sec
1.75 Liter of Margaritaville Margarita Mix
½ cup fresh squeezed lime juice
Mix ingredients in the gallon jug to take to the show. Pour over glass of ice. Salt rim and add lime wedges for garnish. Makes 99 ounces of Margarita’s.
Lone Island
Makes 1 gallon without ice
1 empty gallon water jug
1.25 cups Margaritaville Island Lime™ Tequila
1.25 cups Margaritaville Last Mango™ Tequila
1.25 cups Margaritaville Calypso Coconut™ Tequila
1.25 cups Margaritaville Tropical Tangerine™ Tequila
2.5 cups Margaritaville® Margarita Mix
2.5 cups Orange Juice
2.5 cups Cranberry Juice
2.5 cups Pineapple Juice
0.75 cup Grenadine
Mix all ingredients together in jug and shake well. Serve over ice.
As far as non-frozen stuff, we've done pitchers of mojitos, mai tais, cosmos, and sangria. If you don't mind frozen, then any flavor of margaritas or frozen vodka lemonade (or orangeade) would work.
