I'm thinking there might be a lot of good news out there to share. Could be a banner day for this thread.
So glad all is well margie and sorry the about the thyroid issues stars. Wishing you both all the best!

Are the dollar store PG test effective? I took a couple of them and they were a BFN.
BBs hurt and I am at CD 36...WTF?
Things are getting better with us. DH's company landed a contract in Cali and DH will be working on it. So we will be moving in about 3 weeks or so...i am pretty stoked about that
i am so ready to officially TTC.
Will someone send out a search party for my Aunt Flo?

Cautious, but hoping fo the best... beta yesterday was 83. CD 28, not sure how many dpo, since I fell down on the charting/temping thing. The docs are swarming around me... they even gave me an appointment yesteday - the doc said I was like 5 minutes pregnant... Off the rat poison, and on the lovenox, tons of folic acid, b vits and baby asprin, and progesterone 3x/day. I think my little Robert had something to do with this... pretty much the same time frame, just a few weeks earlier than my pregnancy with him. At least I found out BEFORE my birthday this time, so no drunken binging to feel guilty about...
I wasn't going to say anything yet, but I figure we can use all the positive thoughts we can get, right? I alternate between elation and abject terror at this point. :D  :D
Fingers crossed...

Margie, awesome beta, and great news on the u/s. My beta went to 305 in two days, and they scheduled my u/s for 8/9, so hopefully at 6 weeks I'll get a great b-day present, and see a strong little heart beat. I am getting more and more hopeful everyday, even though I am still so scared.
Bastille!!! Thanks. I was scared because it's so early, but I am glad I outed myself here, as it just feels great to know that all you guys are pulling for us! I hope you are well, and dang it, one of these days we NEED to get together for coffee!

Okay, I'm way late but congrats to KIMMIE and STARS! (Hope I didn't miss any other BFPs). I'm kinda out of the loop since I am now less than 24 hours away from my surgery (LAP and hysteroscopy) and I am not allowed to eat anything all day. :( So I'm just a tad woozie with an empty stomach. *sigh* Uh, don't forget to leave the rest of us some BABY DUST on the way out please. :o

THANKS, STARS for the well-wishes. KIMMIE...thanks for thinking of me. I'm still groggy. The pain med has me in somewhat of a fog because it's giving me the DOUBLE 'D's (Drowsy and Dizzy). Other than that...minimal pain (just getting up and sitting down or bending over is when I really feel it.) fireside Aren't you getting close?
It looks like we might have plan, what are we up to now, d? z? Anyway, I might have a plan for a cycle if I can work out all the details. I don't want to jinx it too much but I'm hoping to be back on the drugs and in the stirrups in October. I'm pretty concerned about my folic acid levels so start folgard tomorrow. I'm thinking I might even take extra over that. That meth is nasty, nasty stuff.

melissa - I've been meaning to ask you about the fertility monitor. I'd be happy to send it to aphijill if she's interested. I hope all works out with your new plan.
kimmie - I'm sending good thoughts your way on today's ultrasound.
stars, kimmie - I don't know about you guys, but I'm still feeling a little concern about this pregnancy. I'm just not ready to join one of the mommies groups and talk about baby names, what color to paint the nursery, or the latest in maternity fashions. I'm sure alot of it has to due with my age (I'll be 43 next month). I feel a bit old, compared with many of the other moms-to-be. I'm sure I'll feel much better once I get through the first trimester, get through some of the screening tests, and can hear the baby's heartbeat with the doppler.

Margie,I know what you mean... it's just plain annoying sometimes to hear them gripe about gaining weight (my biggest pet peeve, as I see it as so selfish to deny the baby they are carrying because of one's vanity). I can't join a mommy's group yet, and might not. I have a buddy group on Fertility Friend's pregnancy side that's for mommas doing the blood thinner injections, and that's the one I can relate to the most so far. I thought about starting a high risk/special circumstance thread, and see how many takers we would get over here... Between this thread (and I am sure everyone here doesn't want to hear us babbling on about our pregnancies all the time...) and the Late Term Loss group, I do feel like I have great support, but I think I would like it if we had a place like a due date group where we could drop in and chat about day to day stuff and concerns and triumphs. What do you think? Shall I start one? I don't know if I am cut out to be a thread mistress... all that updating and stats stuff isn't really my strong point.
Melissa, glad to hear you will return to stirrups in October. I had no idea the metho messed things up so much. Good that you are getting that folgard! You know that I am rooting for you and E so hard.
Hugs to you all, and I'll pop in after my u/s with an update.

Awesome news, Kimmie. I'm so happy for you and will be thinking good thoughts for you.
I'm not saying that I have any news to announce, but I would love it if there was a "Pregnant over 35" thread. I've lurked in some of the other threads and just cannot relate to the posts in them.
Question: does a new thread HAVE to have a threadmistress? Do there really need to be updates and mommy id's and u/s pics all on the first few pages? Or is what's really needed just a place where pregnant women over 35 can talk, share experiences and fears, and offer and get support?
pocahontas
08-10-2006, 02:18 PM
Well, we have this TTC 35+ thread...so I don't see why someone couldn't rightfully start a Mommie thread for "Pregnant 35+" but I don't know I think if it were me I'd still want to have someone who updates and the like (and I'm sure eventually there'd be a volunteer for threadmistress...hey I'd do it when my time comes! :D )

kimmie Yay for a great ultrasound!
maxicat How close are you getting? How are you feeling? Hope it's not too hot your way.
bonnie Thanks for the info. I think I'll be at about 4mg + the prenatal (mine is 1mg) + more from food. I'm guessing you were at aobut that? I think 400mcg is what's recommended for normal people, and upping it to 800 if ttc/pg. I hope you're surviving the heat as well. You're getting so close.
As for an over 35 pg thread, I think that's a great idea. Back in the old days we had one for both ttc and pg and that worked ok for a bit but then we split them off. Though I don't think the pg thread got as many posts. Personally if I ever see another double line I think I'll need a very specific thread along the lines of Over 35-Jaded-and-Bitter-with-no-faith-this-will-ever-work-out-until-there-is-a-baby-in-my-arms-so-keep-your-baby-dust-and-blinkies-to-yourself-and-maybe-by-the-time-I'm-in-my-3rd-trimester-I'll-be-able-to-use-the-"p"-word. Totally cute thread title, Melissa. :D And although I know I haven't been through what you have I completely understand about the people with their unsolicited "baby dust". Case in point, I know a girl who got PG recently it seems by her DH just looking at her! (This is her second pregnancy and the same month they began discussing trying again they are pg! ) After I congratulated her, she thanked me and then hit me with the "here's some baby dust for ya". I swear I nearly killed her. :o (It's funny because I don't feel that way when girls I know who've tried for awhile or at least are my age volunteer baby dust maybe because it seems more...umm, I don't know, genuine? LOL ;) )kimmie Yay for a great ultrasound!

Melissa I love your thread title. It closely resembled my feelings so far.
I am now 30 weeks and 4 days and have just started to relax into the situation. I am having a girl and she is due October 20th. My ob said they will induce on 10/20 if she has not shown up on her own. She said this pg was "such a miracle" that they did not want to take any chances. I am not really sure what she meant by that but whatever....

ya know melissa - i've always loved the fact that you have always been way more optimistic than i. as for me - the 3rd trimester still isn't good enough. birth isn't even good enough. it's when the hospital staff actually put my baby girl in my arms and told me i could leave with her - actually take her home with me. that's when i finally accepted it. i was finally a mommy. ( i think i was paranoid that some social worker would mosey on by my house, see my dehydrated cacti, and determine that the baby could not go home with me.)
well - since a couple of you hinted about it a while ago - i guess it's time to come clean. looks like the house of pixie may be welcoming a valentines baby. we've had a rough first trimester. had a couple questionable ultrasounds early on due to a weak heartbeat (we lost dd's twin due to a weak heartbeat - so that has made me super duper paranoid). on top of that morning sickness seriously kicked my butt. but we had an early risk assessment/nuchal fold screen 2 weeks ago, which we passed with flying colors. the heartbeat is finally in the normal range - just barely. and there are 4 chambers of the heart present. at first my ob was concerned about a genetic defect or a major heart defect. now she thinks it is either nothing, or a minor heart defect that will be easily correctible at birth. we have tentatively scheduled our amnio and level ii u/s for 8 september - i am so happy that i don't have to do cvs. we are still waiting to schedule the appointment with the fetal cardiologist.

An over 35 cheerleader delurking to chime in on the monthly Mommy threads. I'm a 39 y.o. survivor of infant loss with a multiples pregnancy, now in the middle of second pregnancy (the first took 2 1/2 years and a ridiculous amount of testing, Clomid and humiliation to attain). I'm a member of the June 05 Mommies thread and the December 06 Mommies thread. Yes, there are times when I can't relate to a couple of people who got pregnant by sneezing or the "we weren't even trying" comments but it has been really comforting to be with women in the same stage of pregnancy as myself. Being able to compare symptoms and doctor visits has been very reassuring. Also, after feeling like an "outsider" on the family planning forum for so long, it feels great to belong to a "normal" thread. I recommend it to everyone here.
Finally, once the babies arrive, it's so amazing to continue on with the threads and watch all the little dumplings grow up together. Trust me when I say that I didn't think I would ever have a child until I actually held my daughter for the first time but it happened and I was able to share it with some fantastically supportive women on the June 05 thread.
I am still a member of the Infant Loss thread (hi Kimmie!) and are so grateful for the members of that thread and their support as well but there is no reason why you can't belong to more than one pregnancy thread.
Back to lurking.

Also, I got a PM from a mod that when we reach 1000 posts we will have to start a new thread. We're probably a few months from that milestone, but it's something to start thinking about. Are there any volunteers to be the new threadmistress?
