Just curious?

We use Netflix...and in the summer when we are more likely to be outside, instead of inside watching movies, we have the least expensive membership option. I think it is $12 a month for 2-at-a-time (4 rentals a month) Program.

It seems to be working out fairly well. I like the fact that I can add movies in the theaters to my queue so they are delivered to me right when they become available on DVD....plus I hate the crowded and often overpicked video store...and I almost always never used to return my movies on time and hence would incour tons of late fees :)

How do you rent your movies?

I turned to Netflix when Blockbuster introduced their "No Late Fees" thing. The movies were extremely overpicked because no one was bringing their videos/DVDs back to the store. I love that I get my movies in 2 days, and I think its great to have a "waiting" queue for the movies still in theatres!

We've beeing doing the blockbuster unlimited rentals for $15 a month deal. But we might switch the online version of that for convenience sake.

I love Netflix, we've had a membership for over four (maybe five) years. I've never had a significant problem with them during that time.

We use Netflix and love it! We mostly get TV shows on DVD - our local rental stores have a very limited selection in that area, and Netflix has just about everything.

We use Netflix too and we love it. I have only had it about 2 months but we will definitly stick with it. Though every once and a while we go to the video store and get one if we want one that we dont have currently. But thats only about once a month when we go to our friends house.

We use Netflix too and I love it! With two kids it makes it difficult to make it to the movie store.

We do Netflix, too. We like it for the same reasons you described, Heidi. :)

We don't rent movies often enough to do anything but just go to the store. Maybe this winter, we may look at netflix, because I've heard such good things about it.

I'm a netflix junkie. I've had a competition going with myself to see how many movies I can watch. I have no life!

There is an option that's less than that one. They have a $9.95 plan and you get 1 movie at a time, but its unlimited rentals.

OMG THANK YOU!!! I didn't know about that! I just switched...we usually only watch one movie at a time anyway but the unlimited rentals thing is a way better deal...and for less than $10 a month! sweet! Thanks- I don't remember seeing this option last time!

Netflix is this cool service where you can choose movies and have them sent to your house, free of charge. They provide you a little envelope that is pre-paid with postage so you return it for free. They have all the latest movies, you can search for them in all different ways (genre, title, actor/actresses, recommended movies- it really is endless) and there are several levels of membeship, with various prices based on how many movies you want out at a time, and the number of movies you would likely rent in a month.

There is no due date to return a movie, so you never pay any late fees ever.

Visit Netflix (http://www.netflix.com) for more info

I voted other. We don't rent movies too often when we do we go to a local drug store that has all the new releases and cost only $1.50 and some months they are .99. One movie at Blockbuster is $4. If we are looking for something they don't carry than Blockbuster.

Wow- what a great price- I can see why it would be worth your while. Of course, you are probably way better than I would be about returning them on time...you can imagine how much I paid for a stupid movie when I used to rent from Blockbuster for $4 a movie plus lall the late fees! :p

We use pay-per-view on Dish Network. We don't watch movies often enough to subscribe to Netflix, and it's a little cheaper to get a movie with ppv than Blockbuster. The best part is that we don't have to remember to return the movie.

We use Netflix, too. Like mmeblue, we rent alot of TV shows on DVD that our local video stores don't carry. Plus I have a list a mile long of movies I've always wanted to see but haven't rented. I'm slowly working my way through the list.

I *heart* Netflix. There is something so satisfying about being in command of your own queue!

Netflix, absolutely. Mostly for TV series right now, though. I'm ashamed to admit I never followed Sex in the City, but when I saw the first season on Comcast On Demand I was hooked. My queue was immediately filled with the rest of the show. Now we're on 24.

I have a silly question. DH and I have talked about going to Netflix because we are awful about getting movies back on time. But somewhere I heard you can only rent so many movies a month. But I read this thread and someone (sorry I cant remember who) said something about unlimited rentals??

Can someone please clarify all this for me?? TIA!!

There are different packages you can have. Some you have unlimited rentals a month and some you can only have a few a month. It depends on which package you choose but it is all right there and easy to see when you go to sign up! Having more movies at one time with unlimited rentals is one of the highest priced but best in my opinion if you watch alot! It all depends on you but you have different options to think about.

Thank you!! :D

I think I will definitely have to check that out now. Our blockbuster is franchised so we still have to pay late fees. Stupid.

We use Blockbuster online. It's a couple dollars cheaper than Netflix. (well it was when I signed up.) I can no longer rent from a video store. I find it impossible to bring them back. Yes.. I can be THAT lazy...;)

Blockbuster here.

I have noticed that they are being sent from a DC in Chicago so I get my movies within a day and they receive them within a day.

You can put movies that haven't been released yet in your que (you need to search by actor) but you can't put movies that are still at theaters in your que. That is my only complaint.

DH and I recently signed up for netflix. We have the two movies at a time(unlimited)

Netflix!

We have the 3 at one time subscription.

Like Flygirl, we've got as many TV shows in our queue as movies! We're working through The Sopranos & MI-5.

Luckily, the nearest warehouse is 2 towns over, so I can return a movie on a Monday and get a new one on Wednesday!

We have the "3 movies at a time" rental plan at our local Blockbuster, but I believe we can do it online also. We could never take our movies back in time, and I didn't like using the web to 'order' our movies. We had Netflix for about a year, but I really like the convenience of going to Blockbuster and picking out what I like, and being able to take it home with me that night.

We have the 3 at a time with Netflix. Hubby and I would have to play rock, paper, scissors to determine who would return the rentals from the store and since he cheats at r,p,s (don't ask) I joined Netflix. Now, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Di - MI-5 is working it's way up my Queue - I can't wait! I caught a marathon on tv a while back and was hooked!

I voted "other", we have a Netflix-type service (live overseas) which I love.

DH is very faithful at keeping plenty on our list (mostly Star Wars themed  ). I am always on the look out for movies, especially older (pre 1980's), that people recommend. Any suggestions?

When we rent, we go to Blockbuster. I have enough free movie coupons to last another year. I don't rent too much, though. We buy.

We have Netflix, the 8 at a time option. We decided to divide it into 2 accounts and DH gets 4 and I get 4. It is wonderful. No more fighting about who's turn it is to get a movie. And I love that I can add the new releases (to theater) to my queue before they even have a DVD release date.

Netflix has our loyalty....we are huge fans!! We love the fact that the website is incredibly comprehensive and easy to navigate, not to mention that there is not one movie or show that we have ever looked for there that they didn't have. Combine that with no late fees and never having to drive to the video store....yeah, I think we will be life-time subscribers!!!

I second that, their website is one of their best assets as a biz...it really is user friendly (and fun!) to use! I love the "friends feature" and being able to customize my experience best on movies I rate. I think we are getting Ocean's 12 next (maybe tomorrow, I believe it is supposed to be delivered.)

Plus if you ever have a problem, I've found the customer service is pretty good about making good or fixing anything wrong.

I chose "other" because we get the majority of our movies from my local library. What it doesn't own, I can usually have them order it from another library (or they'll purchase it). If both of those don't pan out, then we go to our local video store.

Netflix-we LOVE it. In addition to the movies, we get a lot of the tv shows-which is great since we really don't get a chance to watch the shows when they are on tv.

I voted Netflix since that is how we get some of our movies. But recently we tried using those machines they have in Safeway from DVDplay. They only carry the past month or so new releases and they are $1.50 for 24 hours. We've tried that and its not bad, since we usually go to that particular store often. And when we can't wait for a movie that we have on Netflix, but haven't watched the 3 we have at home (or rather we don't feel like watching them) then we usually go to the video store. I know we like movies too much!

netflix netflix netflix. i love how we don't have to go anywhere to get our movies. the parking at our local blockbuster is horrendous and i hate going in and wandering around not knowing what to get...
