Charting Our Course to the BFPs

http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.

So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!

Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.

Your threadmistresses for this thread are gymwidow and cowgirl.

To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread after 5 BFPs. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistresses would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if we get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.

If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test! :cool:

Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb

* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.

* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.

* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.

* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.

* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.

* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.

* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.

* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.

* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.

* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.

* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!

* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!

* Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations

This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!

•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
MBFP Mystery big fat positive- When you see a BFP in someone’s chart but they haven’t announced it yet
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist

Yay, I'm the first to post in the new thread. Let's keep this streak of bfp's going.

Good Luck to everyone! :D

Today we had our 5th IUI. I hope this is it. DH's count was pretty good, and for the first time he came into the room with me for the procedure. I told him I needed him as my good luck charm, and he sucked it up and dealt with his fear/worry/freaking-out-ed-ness about seeing me in the stirrups. We'll also BD tonight and tomorrow just in case. The doctor who did the IUI today mentioned that I have a ton of CM (probably because of the lack of drugs I'm on this month!), so hopefully that will help.

fsb2005 & lilhimley, cautious congrats to you both!

MrsKinnison, welcome! We've a great trend going here of first-time-trying-BFPs. I hope you can continue it! :)

ptcrn
06-11-2006, 12:09 PM
Wow, I go away for a couple of days and 3 new BFP's! I like the trend we've got going in here!

Congrats Felicity, fsb, and lilhimley! Happy and healthy 9 months to all of you! It's so exciting to see good news in here. :)

gymwidow, thinking good implantation thoughts for you! It sounds promising that you have good CM- I hope this IUI does the trick!

Welcome, MrsKinnison! Hope your stay here is short and sweet.

miaclear, I'm not sure, but I would start the green tea and grapefruit about a week before you expect to O. I think it does take a few days at least to build up in your system (though I have nothing scientific to back my thoughts up!) I'm starting the green tea today and I'm only on CD 4.

Yeah for the new thread already! :) MUCH better than the last one! Yikes...that one seemed like it took forever!

MrsKinnison ~ Welcome!!!

gymwidow ~ Hopefully this is it for ya! Great for DH coming in with you! He'll need to get used to it anyway for all those pregnacy appointments! :)

As for me...patiently waiting. I'm 4dpo and won't test until at least 16 dpo, since that's what my LP's been. Here's to a long 2ww! :)

JayJay
06-11-2006, 01:10 PM
Well, 10 DPO for me...the good news is that my temp isn't falling. (Yet.)

Seriously, though...for lunch I made steaks, and sweetcorn. I ate and ate and ate. Then we went to sit on the couch. Not even half an hour later, I am starving. So, I just ate another ear of corn, and what was leftover of my steak. Now, about 20 minutes later, I'm hungry. again. What the hell is going on?!?

And I mentioned in the other thread before it got closed, that yesterday I only cried three times on the way to Wal-Mart. Of course it is about an hour drive, but everytime a sappy song would come on, I would start crying. So, if you can picture it, I was driving along, crying and singing. Wow. I'm either preggers, or I have M.A.J.O.R PMS symptoms hitting me. Whew....

pctrn, it's a nice trend isn't it?! I would love to be aboard the BFP train!

gymwidow, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Maybe your DH will be your good luck charm....that was very brave of him to conquer that fear, to be with you! :D

Thank you very much for the new thread, Threadmistress! Your hard work is greatly appreciated. :D

MrsJackson ~ Your chart is looking very nice!! :) Hopefully this is it for you too!!

flygirl

Mia, there aren't really any studies showing definitively that green tea affects CM (almost entirely anecdotal), so there are no specifics on when and how to drink it. On the one hand, green tea is encouraged to be a regular part of your diet because of the antioxidents. On the other, studies show that tea can have positive effects on DNA markers within hours. It's up to you to decide how you want to incorporate it into your diet.

A few other suggestions (from traditional Chinese medicine):
Evening Primrose Oil: 1,000 IU per day should be taken
from Cycle Day 1 to Ovulation.
Flax Seed Oil: 2,000 mg per day from Ovulation to AF
Red Raspberry: as tea or 1,000 mg daily. Start anytime in cycle.
Can be taken during pregnancy until a month prior to labor/delivery.
Strengthens the uterine lining which in turn lengthens luteal phase.

Gym: I'll keep my fingers crossed for the next 12 days :).

MrsR
06-11-2006, 02:01 PM
gymwidow -- my fingers are crossed for you.

MrsKinnison -- hope your stay is short and sweet.

MrsJackson -- your chart looks great -- fingers crossed:)

*************
Well ladies, I am not feeling to good about this cycle -- my temps have dropped the last two days and since my uterine lining was so thin this cycle I have been trying not to get too hopeful about this cycle -- so, I am bracing myself for AF to arrive while we are in Chicago next weekend for my BIL's graduation from journalism school.

The other bad news is that my blood results came back this week and it turns out I am a carrier for one of the cystic fibrosis mutations -- DH is going in tomorrow to get tested to see if he is a carrier too. If he's not, then we have nothing to worry about, I just have a really bad feeling. Also, since the RE does not accept my DH's insurance we have to pay for these blood tests out of our pocket -- I am hopeful they are not too expensive but I am bracing myself for $400-$500 since we are talking about medical care . . .

miaclear

Flygirl....thanks for posting that information! I'll have to check into some of those therapys.

As for now I just got back from the grocery store and bought 3 large grapefruit (not sure how long they keep so I thought I'd just start with 3) and a big ol jug of Arizona Green Tea with ginsing. I bought some lemons too in case I can't stomach it. Who knows....never had the stuff. However I was VERY pleased to come home and see we already had a jug in the fridge! Apparantly DH drinks the stuff...(go figure for my lack of observational skills in my DH's drinking habits). So if for whatever reason I can't stand it....it won't go to waste :) And it sounds like it has a lot more benefits than just CM so I'm going to try to like it.

Not sure if I mentioned before but I also bought Pre-Seed which should be here by the end of the week. Just in time for a BD fest :D

I feel like I'm pulling out all my weapons at once....I hope they do the trick.

Been doing some research and this quote seemed to sum it up the most

http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/herbs.html

Evening Primrose Oil - helps to increase fertile quality cervical fluid and also contains essential fatty acids which are good for the brain. You may take this EPO from menstruation to ovulation and switch to Flax Seed Oil after ovulation. Flax Seed Oil contains the fatty acids needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Evening Primrose Oil causes uterine contractions - which is why you should not take it after ovulation in the event that conception did occur.

This link has some more information as well: http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/epo.html

I think I'll be heading out to buy some tomorrow :D

Still waiting to O. :)

Quick question: Does anyone else feel uber silly waiting after BD with your legs up? I tried it last night and felt like such a goon. I did it for a few minutes but then gave up. Is it really necessary to wait after BD? If so, how long?

Thanks ladies!

Threadmistress, I finally figured out how to link my chart. (http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/132a93) Can you add it to my roll call? Thank you, and thanks for the new thread!

gymwidow, I hope this is it for you! I'm thinking fertile thoughts. :)

polka, I'm just a newbie, but I don't see definitive Oing on your chart. :confused: I'm sure others know more than I do though.

miaclear, I've got the PreSeed too. I just can't bring myself to drink things yet...I'm too picky. I'll be curious to hear how it works for you. :)

MrsR, good luck with the tests...at least this way you'll know, one way or the other.

MrsJackson, I agree, your chart does look nice!

Me...CD 11 and starting the BD fest. I love this part of the cycle b/c I can just let myself be optimistic. DH seems pretty excited too. Yay!

honeygirl ~ I usually just try to stay in bed for at least 20-30 minutes after BDing. If it's a morning quickie, than that usually doesn't work. I don't usually keep my legs up though. Maybe I should start, though!! ;)

Polkadot ~ I'm definitely not a chart expert, but it doesn't look like you've O'd to me. Maybe it's just a delayed O this month. Considering all the stress you've had, it could be a possibility.

j*east ~ Happy BDing! :D

Sherb ~ Waiting to O is definitely the longest phase of this whole TTC thing for me!

MrsR ~ Your temps are still well above coverline, so I wouldn't get too worried yet. Also, I googled some info on CF testing, and from what I could find, typical costs are around $200-$300, but none of that info was very recent. Hopefully it won't be too expensive. Sorry that you have to worry about that, but hopefully he won't be a carrier.

I think that's it. This has been pretty active for a Sunday afternoon! :)

anyone mind checking out my chart...i think I have had my first anvo cycle...thanks

Me too! It totally sucks! No, I am not an expert either, but as much as I hate to agree with you, it does look anov to me. I know it's frustrating since you are doing what you can to help your chances. This is the 1st cycle we have BDd SO much! We were all set to cover our bases, and the game got rained out! BOO!

honeygirl- Not a silly question at all! I have finally, after 11 cycles, gotten to where I can go to sleep after BD. I usually wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning and go to the bathroom, but I used to count the minutes until I could go clean up! I don't put my legs up. I have found than any moving around: drawing my knees up, rolling over, tensing up to slide a pillow under my butt, all causes me to tense up my abdomen and TMI- squeeze things out. So, I just try to lay still for at least 15 or 20 minutes.

Jess ~ Depending on tomorrow's temp, it looks like you could've O'd on CD17. Don't give up yet! :)

Honeygirl...I usually just wait about five to ten minutes after BDing before I get up. But I only just lay there...sometimes fall asleep :o I suppose a little extra gravity wouldn't hurt though.

Are you serious??? Me, pregnant??? If I didn't actually see the word, I wouldn't believe it. I took an Equate first and it was so light that I thought it was an evaporation line so I took the digital one and up popped the word. I took an Equate yesterday and a FRER and got faint lines but had to take the tests apart and really look at them to see the line. I'm going to wait to tell Patrick until Father's Day and make it a surprise. I'm hoping to get into my doctor's today for blood confirmation. Please send me all the sticky vibes you can spare!! :D

I'm going to be watching each and every one of you and hope to see you all get that BFP soon!

Big congrats, jenjen! How cool to tell your DH on Father's Day, although I would not be able to keep that secret for that long!!!

Thank you Mrs. Pell and Polkadot for the encouragement, and as it turns out, you were right, or at least FF agrees with you. Solid lines, too. I never would have guessed. Thankfully Friday (supposed O day) was the last day of the BD marathon! We leave for the US Virgin Islands this Friday and this delayed O will hopefully keep AF away during my much needed vacation! That is such a relief! I was just telling DH last night that it sucked so bad that we pulled out all the stops this cycle and I couldn't do my part.

That said, maybe you are just delayed this much, polkadot! You have been under so much stress with all of the testing and stuff, it wouldn't surprise me. I will be thinking about you and hope that you O!

So, threadmistress, could you please move me to "I think I O'd, testing 6/27-6/30 or so

Well I did not temp over the weekend because of getting up at differnt times and going to bed late. I put in todays temp and FF took away my cross hairs :( so not sure whats up. My stomache has been acting strange all week and weekend. Hopefully my temp goes up in the next few days.

jenjen, tentative congratulations to you! That's awesome! :) +-+-+Sticky sticky sticky vibes for you!+-+-+-

Honeygirl, I seem to remember reading in TCOYF that special positions or waiting aren't necessary. The sperm that will go the distance are already where they need to be (past the cervix, presumably) before anything leaks out, and what leaks are the slow guys who won't make it anyway. I'm paraphrasing a bit. I do still wait a few minutes before getting up. :p

Jess, I'm so glad you O'd. :) Yay! You have definitely covered yourself this cycle.

Me--temp drop this morning, so I hope O is coming. Yay!

Congrats JenJen!!!! I just knew we would be including you w/ the BFPs this month!

Mrs. Jackson, those are such clear signs of a BFP, I think it's just a matter of time. When will you be testing?

Good luck Gymwidow, here's hoping the 5th time is the charm-and all that CM has got to be a good sign too! (You might never know whether it was the IUI or just you and your hubby that created the BFP!)

Mrs. R, don't get too down about the temp drop. Like Mrs.Pell said, you're still way above the cover line and I think all the creamy CM might be a good sign! I'm keeping my finger crossed for you!

Cowgirl, FF took my cross hairs away the month I got my BFP so you never know!

Jess, congrats for O'ing! Sometimes you have to celebrate the little things ;) I hate it when I think my body has failed me in some way. BTW, where are you going in the Virgin Islands? I was there this past Winter and we had such an amazing time!

Flygirl and Miaclear, thanks for the info on green tea and other herbal supplements, and I completely believe I may have some hormones drifting around in me still.

I was just here yesterday and this has turned into a mighty long post but I don't want to forget anyone SO Welcome Mrs. Kinnison, J*east, let the BD fest begin, hi ChrisnJen and Sherb hoping time flies, Honeygirl I would definitely feel like a big dork with my legs up. I usually just wait as long as I can and then jump out of bed and run.

Polkadot, I don't see any clear signs of ovulation...sorry 'bout that.

I apologize if I missed anyone.

CONGRATULATONS JenJen!!! It will be a tough secret to keep, but the very best Fathers Day gift your DH will ever get!!

MrsJackson & gymwidow ~ I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

As for [B]green tea[B], I've tried it and haven't noticed a difference at all. I feel like I never have enough of the right kind of cm, so maybe I will try evening primrose oil & flax seed next cycle (if there is a next cycle :D ), since it's probably too late to start this one. I wonder if I could get preseed in time though....

Also, a couple of you have mentioned feeling like you need to "clean-up" after bd'ing... That doesn't happen for me so I wonder, is it a good thing because they are all swimming right up there, or should I be a little worried??

Janey
06-12-2006, 07:54 AM
My goodness there has been a lot going on just since Yesterday!

JenJen - Congratulations! :D Your chart was so hot, I knew it had to be it for you!!

Gymwidow - I am keeping all my crossables crossed for you.

Honeygirl - I wait with my legs up for a while. Not too long, though. We also put a pillow underneath my hips during BD ... we don't when i'm not fertile. Who knows if it helps... but that's what we do. :p

10 DPO. I tested this morning with an EPT Digital. Negative. It's pretty early to get a positive, but I just think ... because of my short-ish LP's (11-13 days) ... if I was pregnant, wouldn't it show at 10? Owell. A few more days will tell for certain.

ChicagoKate
06-12-2006, 08:17 AM
Congrats jenjen! Very exciting! And thanks for the dust! I'm rolling around in it for this cycle.

MrsHill ~ I wouldn't get discouraged yet. 10DPO is very early for a BFP and the digital tests are less sensitive than some of the traditional line tests. Dollar Tree has some great sensitive POAS tests for only a dollar (for those obsessive testers. . .) It is my understanding that a short LP would not necessarily mean that you would get a BFP any earlier. BFP just measures the hCG which would all depends on when implantation occurs.

~~~~~~
Nothing exciting for me. AF just left the building so I'm gearing up for some BDing in the coming weeks. Just started using a Fertility monitor. Anyone else use one of these? Thoughts?
flygirl
Congrats, jenjen!! I just knew that temp jump yesterday spelled good things :).
Polka, I think it's too early to call annov, but it could still be a delayed O. It'll be interesting to see what your prog levels are.
MrsK, Flax seed, red rasberry & green tea can be taken at any time of the cycle so there's no reason to wait with either of those. Most likely, you're still several days away from O and it's not too late at all to start reaping the benefits.
cowgirl, try not to worry too much about what FF does with the CH; the software is not at all reliable :). For one thing, I don't agree with FF that you O'd last cycle. That said, based on your temps, I really don't see an O. Your temps this entire cycle are in lower than FF's coverline from last cycle and they're actually somewhat consistent between 97.6-98.0. CD24/25 could easily have been a delayed O, so don't stop charting or trying :).
flygirl
06-12-2006, 08:26 AM
MrsH, ditto what ChicagoKat said. When you get a BFP has nothing to do with your LP length & everything to do with implantation & how your body metabolizes the hCG.
Congrats to felicity, fsb, lilhimley & jenjen!! H&H 9 months to you.
I don't know what is going on with my chart. FF hasn't indicated that I O'd yet. My temp has been all over the place and I don't seem to be as "wet" as I was on CD11 or so. I usually have been Oing around CD13, but it doesn't look like it. I guess DH and I will just have to keep covering our basis. Also, I need to get some more ovulation tests, I only had one and of course when I took it this cycle it was negative. I have been very stressed lately along with being (TMI) constipated and I think I also had a small case of hemroids. All of which could have an effect on what is going on this month.
CD11 for me! The BD fest has begun. ;)
For breakfast this morning I had a grapefruit along with some Arizona Green Tea. I just got back from the bathroom and I am swimming in EWCM! :D For me, it seems that the two of them togeather give me the best results. I mean I havent' noticed any CM of any kind at all until today. I don't check internally, just what's on the toilet paper. I'm super excited.
QOTD: What brand of OPK's do you all use? What time of day do you test?
My first cycle using them I purchased The Answer brand and I managed to get two + tests. After that I was given some internet cheapies from a former graduate. I have yet to get a + on any of those and I'm going on my 4th cycle with them. I could just be missing my surge since I usually test when I get home from work around 5:30 pm. I'm thinking I may need to test more than once a day or just need to go buy a different brand. :p
Janey
06-12-2006, 09:36 AM
FlyGirl & ChicagoKate - Thank you both for the reality check. :) You are right about them being less sensitive than some. The tests I used this morning were 40 mIU... that's the mid/upper end of sensitivity. It's entirely too easy to freak myself out during the 2WW! Okay, back to breathing deep, and waiting until 14DPO for the next test.
QOTD: What brand of OPK's do you all use? What time of day do you test?
My NP suggested that I use OPK's last month to see if I was really ovulating when I thought I was, or if I was ovulating earlier, and it was just taking a while for my progesterone to kick in. She specifically suggested Clearblue Easy OPKs (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=10045053&whse=&topnav=&browse=&s=1), and said Costco had the best price around on them. She said they have had women who have gotten negative results with other brands, and postiive results with the Clearblue Easy ones, so their office specifically suggested those.
I test first thing in the morning, since morning pee is the strongest.
Wow a new thread! Things move fast around here. Congrats felicity, fsb, lilhimley & jenjen! What an exciting time for you. :)
QOTD: I have only used first response (this cycle) - did it right when I got home from work - 5:00pm - I didn't want to bother with doing it at work and someone finding out! I think next time I would try a different kind though. Its not that I had problems, but results didn't seem very "obvious" - maybe because I had never used an OPK before.
Currently I am 9DPO - had a bit of a temperature jump today for some reason. I'm not quite sure how to interpret my chart but figure that in the next few days there should be some changes in temps to give me some indication of what MAY be going on. Perhaps it is psychological, but had some cramping all day on 7DPO, nausea off and on, constant peeing, headaches, that sort of thing. I'm probably only feeling this cause we want this to be "the month" this time.
Guess I'll be temping this weekend - if I can hold out (though FF is saying not to temp til next week...strange) - what a wonderful way to share the news with our parents and my DH ... on Fathers Day.
Sneak ~ FF tells you to wait until 18DPO to test until you have two FF cycles under your belt. You really only need to wait until 14DPO or so to get a reliable result.
Jessied1025 ~ I would say you definitely have not O'd yet. Sorry! But your last cycle post-O temps were 98.0 and above. So far your temps are below that so keep up the BDing!
cowgirl ~ I also agree that you may not have O'd last cycle, and it doesn't look like this cycle shows O either. Have you had a FF guide look at your charts for you?
QOTD ~ I have not used OPKs in a while but am using a fertility monitor this month. I read that you are supposed to test with FMU (first morning urine) for PG tests, but later in the day for OPKs b/c the FSH builds up in your urine as the day goes on. Do tests differ in this?
flygirl
06-12-2006, 11:07 AM
Sneak, (not that you asked :o ) I think you O'd on CD19 which would put you at 7DPO (If you change it to FAM tuner it should change your CH). Just so you don't get too anxious expecting a BFP before it's possible :).
I had also heard not to use FMU for OPKs. That's why I haven't been testing until I get home from work. I really can't see myself bringing my test strips and pee cup into the public bathroom. :rolleyes: Which fertility monitor are you using. I need to start doing a bit more research when it comes to these things. I feel clueless. About how much do fertility monitors cost and where is the best place to purchase them?
Sneak - I agree with both FlyGirl & Chicagokate -- I think you ovulated 2 days later than FF says you did.
Question for the gals who use FF ... do you know what criteria it uses to tell you if you ovulated? It amazes me how often I disagree with FF's analyses. I keep trying to figure out how it makes the calls I'm seeing, and I just get more confused. :p
Speaking of which... MrsJackson05, did you decide to override your coverline?
Thanks!
Flygirl and Chicago Kate, As a novice chart reader, please give me some insight on why you would change her (Sneak's) O date? Because her temp dipped below the coverline on CD 18?
I would change it because of two things. 1) She still has EWCM on Day 18. CM dry-up + Temp Jump means she's ovulated. 2) Even though she has gone above the coverline, she doesn't get the nice strong jump of at least .3 degrees until the next day.
Re: OPK & when to test, here is what the Clearblue Easy insert says:
You may test at any time of the day, but you should test at around the same time each day. It is important that you should not have urinated for at least 4 hours before taking the test. (avoid excessive fluid intake before testing as this may dilute the hormone and may make the result difficult to read). Many women find it easiest to test first thing in the morning.
The only time that I don't urinate for the previous 4 hours is first thing in the morning, and I could be pretty sure that it was at about the same time each day if i did it First Thing, so that's when I did it.
tealynn ~ I think that Sneak O'd on CD19 b/c she was using OPKs and using the FAM (fertilty awareness method) you would O the day after you last + OPK. Plus, her temp rise on CD 17 and 18 wasn't that much, which makes me think CD19 is the most likely. And also, CD18 was her last day of fertile CM.
Chris~n~Jen ~ I am using the CBE digital fertility monitor. It was on sale at drugstore.com for (gasp) $140. To me, it is still worth it to see what's going on with me.
And THIS is why you can't always rely on charting: I know I O'd yesterday, thanks to that handy HCG shot on Friday night, yet my temp has not gone up yet. I'm going to assume that the shot didn't malfunction or anything, but just in case I will get another BD out of DH tonight!
ptcrn, flygirl, MrsR, j*east, tealynn, MrsKinnison, & MrsHill, thanks!
MrsJackson, thanks, I'm crossing my fingers for you, too!
MrsR, hugs to you. I hope that DH's blood work is not too costly, and comes back with good results soon!
polkadot, I'm so sorry. That does look annovulatory. But so did my first cycle on Clomid. It was my b/w that proved I had indeed O'd without my temps reflecting it.
honeygirl, yup, I feel silly. I don't know if it does any good or not, but I try to lay there with a pillow under my hips for at least 10-15 minutes before cleaning up a bit.
jenjen0713, cautious congrats to you! Hurry up and test again. We love moving members over the graduates section!
Flygirl, chicagokate, mrshill - thank you so much. I agree that there wasn't much of a temp change on they day that ff thinks I o'd and CD19 looks more accurate (also based on CM and my personal CM pattern in past cycles).
I hope you girls don't mind me jumping in with a plee for help interupting my chart. I've just started charting part way through my current cycle. I was wondering if someone could take a look at my chart and tell me if it looks like I might have O'd or what might be going on.
Background
I have PCOS, hence the CD54 :rolleyes: I've been off of the pill since Feb and am on my second cycle. First cycle was 28 days, second cycle was 36 days, both with about 11 days of tender BBs before AF showed. This cycle, I've been using OPKs and have gotten about 30 - and not a single +, from CD49 - 52 I was all crampy and nothing since then, I got a BFN on Sat, and today I'm all bloated.
Could I have O'd on CD52? Is AF on her way even though I'm not crampy anymore? I'm so new to charting I have no idea what to think of my temps, they just seem all over the place. TIA
Here's my chart:
tealynn, the others did a great job of explaining it. To be honest, I think it's so friggin' obvious that she O'd CD19 & I'm absolutely baffled why FF called it earlier.
MrsH, FF has 4 different "tuners" to call O & CL. Here's a good explanation of their Interpretation Methods (http://fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/Fertility_Friend_Interpretation_Methods.html). The default tuner (Advanced) can sometimes do a good job when you have a long history of charts, but there are some that make you go 'huh.' (Check out these two charts (http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/flygirl) The first one FF called correctly amidst some strange temps; the second is annov & one of those that makes you go 'huh'.) For some unfathomable reason, though, without a history the first thing FF looks for is a pre-O dip. :rolleyes: I use both OS & FF, and I think the former is generally more reliable *when* it calls O; it just doesn't always (and I'm talking about 4-5 charts out of 28) call an O when your temps don't line up with the 2 or 3 above 6 rule, even with the Rule of Thumb. It, too, takes your past history into consideration and gets better over time.
Sarah, though it's impossible to tell without more temps, I'd guess that you haven't O'd. Anything's possible, of course, but as you know, annov or very long cycles are par for the course with PCOS. So are O signs & crazy temps, since your body is developing the folicles but not releasing them. I notice you're taking Met; is that for diabetes or PCOS? How long have you been on it? There's a good chance that your doc will think you're ready to try Clomid. You'll find a ton of info & support in the Still At It (http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=17906) thread for ladies who've been trying for 6 months or longer or have diagnosed infertility issues.
OPKs: The reason behind testing in the afternoon is because the LH surge usually occurs early in the morning and isn't metabolized until late afternoon. Just as with hCG, some women metabolize it faster or better than others & have no problem getting a +. Women who metabolize slowly may find the hormone levels dropping before they test & never get a +.
ETA: Enough of me already! I'm sounding like such an idiot :rolleyes:.
Thanks girls, I didn't think I O'd but with all the cramps and then AF not showing up, I wasn't sure. I'm on Met for PCOS, have been on it for a year and a half but this was only our first cycle trying. I forgot to mention on cd 20 I started to get some good CM but then I got in a car accident and it went away. SO I don't know if the met is working and the stress messed up the cycle or if it's not working and I jsut got two cycles of "normal" length by chance. MY RE has already offered up clomid but since we hadn't even started TTC yet I declined it. Thanks again girls.
Sarah - Glad to see you here. :) As for your chart, I agree with CK & FG.
ETA: Enough of me already! I'm sounding like such an idiot :rolleyes:.
Umm - Hardly! I'm so glad you're here, answering these questions that keep popping up. I am learning a lot from you & the others thread, the same way I learned from Clattercote, Tlew, and Kemaji & the rest of the folks in the CTA thread.
I get why people use FF -- it's free, and you can access it from anywhere. Those are very attractive features! I think if I were to use FF, however, I'd change the interpretiation to FAM rather than the Advanced method. I think their Advanced method might be what I'm disagreeing with so often.
So far I've found Ovusoft to do exactly what I thought it should except for my 2nd cycle (http://www.ovusoft.com/forum/chart.asp?cycle=2&id=mrshill&tc=0&p=), where I told it I ovulated on CD16 rather than CD15. This month, it called my ovulation the day after I had my +OPK, which is also the same day my temp jumped pretty far. It usually waits to call my ovulation until I've had 3 over 6, so I assume it was using the +OPK in its calculations this month.
Holy Buckets! Gone for a day, and look at all the action that goes on in this thread! Wow...
11 DPO. I had another temp rise again this morning. It wasn't much, but it went from 98.48 to 98.58. Still looks nice on my chart. I'm still trying not to get my hopes up, because I honestly can't handle being let down. DH really wants me to wait until FF's test date, but it's starting to eat me alive, ecspecially with these temps I've been having. Today I've had a headache again, off and on all day. I've been crampy a little bit today, and I've been starving for 3 days now...I feel like such a hog.
Maybe if my temps stays up tomorrow, I might test. We'll see. :o
Frist of all,jenjen!!!!! I'm so happy for you, cycle buddy! I wanted to wish you a happy and healthy nine months! Congrats, girl! Thanks a billion for the *special* baby dust! I need it.
tealynn, Hopefully, if my temp stays up, I might test tomorrow. But, most likely, I'll be a chickensh*t, and not. I'm funny like that.
cowgirl Sorry you can't figure out what's going on. That's a very frustrating feeling. I've been there. I think that majority of us have, so we all feel for you!
polkadot, just so you know, I really like your new avatar...it's a cute one!
Chris~n~Jen, YAY for EWCM! I too, had some this month, and I rarely get it. It's a good feeling to know that your body can do those little things, huh?!
MrsHill, sorry for the BFN, but I think the other girls are right. Keep your chin up, and keep testing...you're a little too early. For some strange reason the testing hasn't bothered me as much as it usually does this month. Well, until today it didn't bother me. :o
sneak your chart is looking great! Nice temp jump!
Lots of action here! Just a few replies
Congrats JenJen!!! What a nice surprise in the middle of the night! Did you wake up this morning and think you may have dreamt it?
Mrs Jackson...your chart is looking really good! When is the FF test date? If I were you and got another rise tomorrow I'd be running to the store for a stick.
Myself...after work I went and got my Evening Primrose Oil. Yuck they are stinky! And it says to take one pill three times a day. Yuck. Oh well....I'll handle it. Good thing is you only have to take it till O. I also bought some OPKs. I only got the walgreens brand cause they were $10 cheaper. yeah maybe there's a reason for that but I'll try these out. I got home and my Pre-Seed was here (complete with some packaged baby dust...how cute!). So I am geared up and ready to go!
jenjen -- congrats!!!
Sorry guys, this has to be quick -- DH went and got the CF test today -- cost $265 so not as bad as I thought -- we even called his PCP to see if he would do it so all we would pay was the copay but no go -- fingers crossed he is not a CF carrier . . .
As for me, 10 DPO and temp went back up -- of course that may have been due to the fact that I woke up abount an hour before I tested and just laid in bed trying to go back to sleep and to forget about my really full bladder ;) . . . fingers crossed it is actually just another temp rise without any connection to my morning activities;)
MrsR....what did his CF test consist of? Did he just have his regular Dr do it? DH and I were going to test but haven't yet....seems to be maybe the same boat you're in (getting the test after starting TTC). Maybe before my next cycle I'll have him do it. Fingers crossed for a negative.
Busy group today! I love it!
BTW, where are you going in the Virgin Islands? I was there this past Winter and we had such an amazing time!
We will be staying on St. Croix for a week. We are SO excited. It is the first REAL tropical vacation for both of us. Where did you go? If St. Croix, do you have any activity suggestions? We plan on snorkeling for sure, and horseback riding if they will let us fudge a little on DH's weight.
Mrs. Jackson "Holy Buckets!" I love your intros! Makes me think of Batman and Robin!
flygirl- I agree with Mrs. Hill!! What would we do without you?
Also, a couple of you have mentioned feeling like you need to "clean-up" after bd'ing... That doesn't happen for me so I wonder, is it a good thing because they are all swimming right up there, or should I be a little worried??
I don't think there's anything wrong with you at all. Do you not feel any...wetness after BDing? I can't stand that feeling and thinking I may get it on the sheets or something and that's why I usually get up. Maybe you are just built different and don't leak as easy. Also, I tend to sleep on my side or stomach but I don't really feel that ick feeling when I am on my back, so if you are a back sleeper, that may be it too.
I am SO much better today since I know I O'd. Temps still aren't as high as I'd like, giving me more reason to believe I have Wilson's Syndrome (discussed in the last thread, but here's the link FYI Wilsons Syndrome (http://www.wilsonssyndrome.com).) It was getting bad with the mood. I was worried that I wouldn't enjoy my vacation for worrying about it...how could you NOT enjoy the USVI????
miaclear -- DH just had 1 vial of blood drawn today. They did not tell him when we could expect his results so I am just hoping it is this week . . .DH's regular doctor would not do it (he said he no longer runs blood tests for other doctors for billing reasons :mad: ) so DH went to the RE to have the blood drawn this morning.
Sneak, (not that you asked :o ) I think you O'd on CD19 which would put you at 7DPO (If you change it to FAM tuner it should change your CH). Just so you don't get too anxious expecting a BFP before it's possible :).
How do I change it to FAM tuner? (what is 'FAM' and 'CH')
gymwidow, thanks and I hope this time is it for you. FYI, my temp doesn't go up for one to three days after I "O".
Thanks for the good wishes ptcrn, jessied, and sneak.
Sneak, I hope you temps stay up. Happy Birthday! :D
MrsJackson, you are an emotional mess! :p I hope it means good things to come!
MrsR, I'm thinking positive thoughts for your DH's test results.
honeygirl, I'm not sure keeping my legs up helped since I laughed so hard when I was like that, I think I lost spermies! I stay lying down with a pillow under my butt for 30 minutes.
j*east, enjoy the BD fest!
polkadot, sorry no O was confirmed. I guess I hope AF comes for you soon then. On a positive note, totally awesome avatar!
Go jenjen! Wow, we have a lot of pregnant jen's on cc!
jessied, hope you O'd or will O soon.
Chris~n~Jen, yay for the EWCM! I hope it works for you.
QOTD: I'm tossing out all of my internet cheapie tests. It turns out they totally SUCK!
Oh, chariezangel, I hope you feel better about things soon.
Update on me:
I spoke with the Nurse Practitioner today and she said not to worry, that I should be fine starting the progesterone when I did. I have an appt with her to do an exam and ultrasound on June 27th - 15 days from now! It seems so far away. I'm trying not to get excited while I wait until my appt. We're supposed to be able to see the heart beating that day. I sooo hope it's there this time. I'm nervous because I don't have any symptoms besides sore BBs. I think I'll feel much better after I hear that everything is fine at my appt.
I would totally love to hang around here until I'm sure everything is okay at my appt. Let me know if that's okay.
I'm throwing, not tossing or lightly shaking, but throwing clumps of baby dust at you people!
OH my! I think I would have to quit my job to stay current on this thread (or get a job that allows me access to CC! :p )! This thread moves FAST! So, here's my attempt to cover everything...
First of all...HUGE congrats to jenjen!!! I'm so loving all these BFPs!! Second, you are a MUCH better woman than I am if you can seriously wait almost a WEEK to tell your hubby!!! I will be very, very impressed if you hold out that long! ;)
Jess71903 ~ Glad we were right about your O date! I was almost positive when I looked at your chart last night that you'd get those CHs today! Hopefully your trip will keep your mind off of testing!
cowgirl ~ Sorry ff took those CH away. Not that you want to hear it, but I agree with the others...it definitely doesn't look like you O'd yet.
j*east ~ Here's hoping for that you O soon!
MrsHill ~ Sorry for the BFN, but it's still pretty early! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Your chart's still looking good! OH, and btw, I just now figured out your "tee-tee-cee chart." I always looked at it and for some reason though "tee hee" chart (like your "naughty" chart or something). I know...I'm juvinile! ;)
ChicagoKate ~ Haven't used a fertility monitor, although I've thought about it. Honestly, I keep thinking I'll just hold out a few more months until I start doing more than just charting. I haven't even used an OPK yet (though I think I may try those next month if this month doesn't end with a BFP).
jessied1025 ~ I would definitely think that all those things could cause a delayed O. Have you only charted one other month? I saw that your last month's O was on CD13. Mine has ranged from CD13 to CD16 (at least since I've been charting). Keep BDing!!
Chris~n~Jen ~ Happy BDing! Is it sad that even thinking about it (not thinking of YOU doing it, but just BD in general!) makes me tired and worn out?? :o Yeah for the EWCM!!!
Sneak ~ nice looking chart you have going there! I do agree with the others (FWIW) that it looks like your O date was more like CD 19 instead of 17. Looks like your timing would be fine either way, though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you too! Gotta say...more power to ya with all those "x's" in the BD line!!! (oh...neverming...i was thinking that was am AND pm but that's "xx.")
Sarah051504 ~ I know nothing about PCOS, but hopefully you got your answers from the other girls! Good luck, and feel free to join or ask questions in here (so the other girls can answer better than me!! ;) ).
FlyGirl ~ You, sound like an idiot? I don't think so! I love all your knowledge...it definitely is a great help to all us "newbies."
MrsJackson ~ Yikes...that chart looks NICE! I think I'd be rushing to test earlier than the FF date, too! I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed for you that AF will STAY AWAY!!
MrsR ~ Keeping my fingers crossed that your DHs test results come back good! Also, glad it wasn't too expensive, especially considering how expensive lab work can be these days!! Yeah for the temp rise! Your chart's looking good!
pride&prejudice ~ Yeah for the O!!
polka ~ Sorry for the "no O" news. Here's hoping AF shows up soon and you can start again with a fresh cycle. Keep hanging in there!!
lilhimley ~ Yeah for the good news from the NP!! Of course you can stay around! Keep throwing some more of that baby dust!!!
~~~~~~~

Nothing too exciting on my part...just waiting out the 2W(+2day)W. I'm 5dpo right now. I think I'm going to join the YMCA tomorrow and start swimming. I keep putting off losing this extra weight because "what's the point?" if I get pregnant? But, I really know that's a stupid mindset, so I'm just going to do it. I started my new "diet," though it's just more of cutting out the crap, and hopefully will get a new exercise program going soon. It's just so damn hard...especially when it's already 95 degrees out! Blah... Does anyone know if I do start a new workout program if that will affect my temps at all...at least in the beginning?

I am late to the thread today, but work was a LONG 12 hr day with minimal CC time! Like mrs_pell I can't keep up! Ladies thank you so much for answering my relatively silly BD/leg up question. ;) I'll try the pillow rather than legs up next cycle. At least I know I'm in good company with my bd antics.

Congratulations to jenjen, our latest BFP in a exciting long line! Happy and healthy 9 months to you!

CD17 and I had a huge temp drop this morning and my CM has been drying up (last 2 days). I'm guessing that I o'd today, which would be 2 days earlier than my earliest o (I'm a CD19-23 o'er). I wonder if taking progesterone during prior cycles somehow helps shorten/normalize my next cycle?

Anyway, if we did O today we're in good shape BD wise, much better than our last cycle. Hopefully I'll see a temp jump tomorrow or wednesday. :)

Have a great tuesday everyone, good luck to the am testers.

CD 12. Too chicken to test. Imagine that.

My temp stayed about the same, but down a smidge. I don't know why, but I start thinking that AF is going to show the second my temp starts on the downhill slide. Someone please remind me that it's not over till she shows, and that there are plenty of charts out there that have major temp fluctuations. Please?! :o :p

Crampiness has gone away for the most part. I just have really bad gas. :o :o :o Boy, the joys of TTC.

chicagokate & mrs pell I think you are right I probably didn't O yet. However, I did have a temp jump this morning (98.0) and we BD last night. I totally agree that only one of those factors would have an effect on when I O. My average O date is usually around CD13. Thank goodness things are feeling much better! ;)

Since it looks like I am going to O late, I wish I would have kept my appoiment with my OBGYN at the end of the month instead of moving it. I did however, put myself on the waiting list should there be any openings before then.

Hi ladies. Disappointing news here - I'm spotting already. Only 2DPO. I'm sad, angry, everything. My RE wants me to come in tomorrow for b/w and an u/s and if we're not pregnant this month (which seems really unlikely), then he'll do a saline u/s next month. I'm not to start the progesterone today - he wants to see what my levels are without help and also check my estrogen to see if I need extra of that as well.

My DH is being just amazing. We just said goodbye a half hour ago and he's already called me to tell me how much he loves me and that he wishes it were him instead of me going through all this. He also offered to come and meet me for coffee or lunch or something today and asked if I wanted him to buy me a present. I'm so glad he's my partner in all of this.

Thanks for "listening." Now, bring on some more good news. I need to smile today!

Quick Question: How long do leftovers take to come out? In other words, DH and I BD last night before dinner. ;) I used the toliet before going to bed and I when I wiped it was completely dry. Wiped clean again this morning. After finishing my breakfast of green tea and grapefruit I went to the bathroom. The toliet paper was covered in EWCM. I had to wipe four times just to feel like I was "clean" . Could that be leftovers from yesterday's BD or would you think I'm still having EWCM?

Fingers crossed for you MrsJackson!

MrsHill ~ Sorry for the BFN, but it's still pretty early! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Your chart's still looking good! OH, and btw, I just now figured out your "tee-tee-cee chart." I always looked at it and for some reason though "tee hee" chart (like your "naughty" chart or something). I know...I'm juvinile! ;)
Juvenile... or hilarious?? You be the judge. That totally cracked me up so I'm going with hilarious.

I named it "Tee-tee-cee" because that's what I say. It used to be in my sig as TTA chart, and when I changed it to TTC I would think in my head, "I get to change it to tee-tee-cee now! How exciting!" So I stuck it in there as that. Also... I think it's sort of funny, and I was hoping to remind myself by seeing it that this process is supposed to be fun, and that I hope to not get bent out of shape by daily temperature fluctuations, little signs, missing signs, etc. I'm going to try to have fun.

gymwidow - I just said 'the process is supposed to be fun' ... but it isn't always, for certain. I can't tell you how sorry I am that you are on this roller coaster. Your DH, however, sounds like he's an absolute dream! I hope you decide to meet him for coffee. It'll be good to connect with him for a few moments during this frustrating day.

MrsJackson - Your chart looks awesome! That "Down" temperature you're talking about isn't even one tenth of a degree ... that's a normal daily fluctuation, not the first sign of AF, sister! So chin up! :)

MrsR - Your chart is lookin' great too! When will you test?

I have to say - even if I'm not pregnant, I have a really pretty chart this month. A nice clear ovulation, 4 consecutive days of EWCM, BD at the most opportune times (I suppose we could've BD'ed on CD19 'just in case' but eh), and now a nice pretty LP that is at least 11 days long. That chart looks freaking awesome for someone who was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago, and lost 80 lbs to try to solve the problem. Yay for me!

Trying to stay positive; can you tell?

chris n jenn Usually my leftovers come out when I go to the bathroom after. Sometimes I will have some leftovers a couple hours later, but usually not much. It possibly could be EWCM...I guess I am not much help. Sorry!

Ladies, I think I am ready to join this thread again. DH and I had a long talk and we do not want to wait to try again. From what I have been reading along with what my doctor friend (she is a ped.) there is no reason not start trying again because we had a natural miscarriage. She said the only reason they tell you to wait a month is to make sure you are emotionally ready. I think that DH and I are mentally Okay with it, we know that the m/c happened for a reason. I am just thankful it happened so early. I went out yesterday and bought some OPK's because from what I read you can ovulate after your miscarriage (the usual 14 or so days). So with that here are my stats:

Me: Jody, 32
DH: Scott, 32
Married since: August 30, 2003
Off BCP since: a long, long time ago
TTC since: January 2005
Charting since: January 2005
Known issues/test results: pregnant with clomid but had natural m/c on June 8th

Congratulations to all the recent BFP's:)

MrsHill -- I too am scared to get a BFN so I am going to try to hold out until Friday so that I will know if I am (if I get a BFP) before we see DH's family in Chicago this weekend. I am worried that my trigger shot is why I have so much CM.

*********
Well, my temperature we back down a bit again today (0.1 degree) but I am still pretty high as temps go for me . . . I have begun to see the dreaded light pink spots the size of pin heads when I wipe occasionally so I fear AF is on her way and we will be on to IUIs next month . . .

Gymwidow, I am so sorry you're having such a tough time of it. I know I can't say anything to make you feel better, just know we're here for you.

ChrisnJen you kind of threw me for a loop. I really thought (for a brief moment) you were talking about food. I would say, most likely, it was EWCM.

Jody, good to have you back. I'm glad you're ready to try again.

Mrs.Jackson, if you can handle a possible BFN, then go for it! You know we're dying to know... but after seeing your chart overlayed on a PG chart, girl, it's hard to believe it would be anything but a bfp (lower case, means I'm whispering)

honeygirl
06-13-2006, 10:24 AM
ChrisnJen - I usually "clean up leftovers" right after, a few hours after, and into the day after. I'm thinking that my DH must have lots of spermies. :) It probably takes 24 hrs for it to all expel. That's why it is tricky to accurately mark CM during my fertile phase!

MrsJackson - Wow, your chart does match that BFP one pretty closely! Good luck.

gymwidow - Sorry to hear about the spotting already, how frustrating! It is great that you have a supportive DH though! I'm not sure if you use ovusoft but they have a "spotting queen" support thread over there.

Well I had the big jump I was hoping for this morning, but ovusoft put a thumb over my temp. Does anyone know why? I don't know how to make the thumb go away. :(

MrsR - That sounds very wise. I am also holding out until Friday (my original test day).

ChrisNJen - I forgot to say this before. If it is Opaque, I count it as leftovers, or "Semen Obscured CM" as Ovusoft calls it. If it is Clear or mostly clear, I count it as EWCM. I have no idea if that's right, but that's what I do.

Tealynn - your 'leftovers = food' thought cracks me up. :D

Honeygirl - I bet if you have a second sustained high temp, Ovusoft will take the thumb away. My guess is that it's looking at your previous data and guessing that this is an odd high temp for you. With additional high temps, I bet it'll take the thumb away.

Okay. So I'm an overanalyzing data geek, as we've previously discussed. ;) Looking at my previous six cycles charting, 4 of them had descending temperatures on 11DPO, and 2 of them had flat temperatures on 11DPO (both of those two cycles subsequently plummeted on 13DPO). This is my only cycle so far where my temp has gone up on CD11. I'll say it again: Even if I'm not pregnant, I *heart* my chart. :D

Day 1 on all my potions and pills. So far so good. The Evening Primrose Oil is a gel pak but it is HUGE. yuck. I have to concentrate so hard to get it down. And to do this three times a day. Wowza. I just poured my first glass of green tea and put some lemon in it. Not too shabby. I think I can stomach one or two glasses a day. And I plan on having my grapefruit this evening as an after work snack. I'm on CD7 and am not starting my OPKs till CD11 so those are just hanging out for now. Man this is a lot of work. I think if this isn't my cycle I'll pick and choose my favorite weapons for next one, to do all of this at once is a bit much ;)

In other news I talked with my former boss at my part time job last night. I worked the desk at the City Rec Center. My goal is to quit my FT job after a baby and start working there again. The hours were perfect and would allow for no daycare needed. I'd work 2-3 days a week from 6pm to 10pm, and one day during the weekend from like 1-6 or 1-7. Plus since it's a city job there are very descent benefits even for the part timers. My exboss just had a little girl so she's all on the baby train and is very excited for me. In fact when she saw me she asked if I was there for the prenatal yoga. (sigh). Now I just need the baby part to make this equation work!

Holy smokes, this thread moves fast!!! I'm going to do my best here, but please forgive me if I miss anyone!

MrsHill, I have to agree that that is one damn fine looking chart :D

MrsJackson, If you can resist the urge to test you are a much stronger woman than I! Your chart looks amazing!!

gymwidow, I am so sorry that this has been so tough for you & it is absolutely not fair. BUT I am very happy to hear that you have such a wonderful husband!

miaclear, I don't know how you do it all! If it is based on effort, then you will definately get a BFP this month!!!

Chris~n~Jen, ROFLMAO! I totally thought you were talking about food leftovers too....boy am I a dork! I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you as I seem to always "eat" all of mine and not have any leftover :D

Jody, Welcome Back!

As for me, I just ordered some Preseed. I've never tried it, but since I don't ever have much CM I figured I should give it a shot. I paid more for shipping that the actual product so I can get it before DH and I leave to go camping on Friday morning. {WARNING TMI TO FOLLOW} We've always both thought camping sex was the best (must be something about being outdoors & all the fresh air) and since it will be right around O time it might be just what we need to get a bfp (and might as well throw in some preseed for an extra boost)!!! Its just us & the dogs going, so if nothing else if will be a wonderful mini family vacation ~ its been a long time since we've just done a family camping trip so we can't wait!!!
